The presentation was led by Dimitri Weideli, executive producer, and Florent Guillaume, creative director, who walked us through gameplay and then answered some questions. β€œIt’s Not the Engine’s Fault, It’s the State of the Industry” – Eternal Darkness Creator Defends UE5, Says Embracer’s $2B Failed Deal Was β€œExtinction Level Event”

19 February 2026 at 22:30

The left image shows a rocky landscape with the 'Unreal Engine 5' logo, and the right image displays part of the 'Embracer Group" fractured.

Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain creator Denis Dyack shared a lot of interesting thoughts in a two-hour-long interview with KiwiTalkz, in which he addressed the lack of optimization of many Unreal Engine 5 games. You might remember that his upcoming game, Deadhaus Sonata, was powered by the Amazon Lumberyard engine when we last talked to him a few years ago. Well, Dyack's studio went through several engine changes before eventually landing on Epic's technology after patching things up with the company following their previous dispute over Too Human. Now a user of the leading game-making tool, Dyack pointed the […]

β€œThere’s Simply No Way Around Key Cards in Certain Respects” – FFVII Remake Dev Explains Why GKCs Were Necessary on Nintendo Switch 2

19 February 2026 at 14:30

Nintendo Switch 2 game key cards for 'FFVII Remake Intergrade' and a Nintendo Switch 2 console displaying a scene

FFVII Remake Intergrade launched last month on Nintendo Switch 2 (and Xbox Series S). Overall, it was a solid port, though the Xbox Series S version offers better texture quality than the Switch 2 version, despite having less RAM available. However, Nintendo Switch 2 players have been slightly disappointed to see that FFVII Remake Intergrade is only available on Game Key Cards rather than regular cartridges. Game Key Cards were introduced with the new Nintendo console and offer a hybrid format: they are physical cards that users must insert into their console, but they don't actually contain any data. Instead, […]

18 February 2026 at 22:00

A cowboy holding a revolver stands silhouetted against a vibrant sunset next to the text 'Frontier Legends.'

Today, Canadian developer Neojac Entertainment (known for the games Junk Survivor and Athos) announced that its next game, Frontier Legends, will debut this Spring on Early Access. As you could probably guess from the title, it is a Western game, and also an open world title with survival and adventure elements. It casts players as a greenhorn settler fresh off the train, dropped into the rugged and unforgiving American West with nothing but ambition and a will to survive. Players can then become a hunter tracking game through dense wilderness, a trader running goods between settlements, a lawman keeping order […]

18 February 2026 at 18:30

A character on a hover bike racing others across a desert landscape in a video game setting.

The reveal of Star Wars: Galactic Racer at The Game Awards 2025 was a nice surprise for all those gamers who were dearly missing a Star Wars racing game. The last one to be released was Star Wars: Racer Revenge, launched in February 2002 for the PlayStation 2 console. It's been an age, at least as far as gaming goes. Earlier this month, the developers at Fuse Games even confirmed that podracing would indeed be featured in the game, alongside other vehicle types. Then, last week, a new promising gameplay trailer was shared during the State of Play broadcast. Now, […]

As Highguard Website Remains Down and Fans Worry This Is It, Tencent Is Discovered to Have Secretly Funded the Game

18 February 2026 at 15:30

Three characters from Highguard engage in action, with one holding a glowing sword, another aiming a rifle, and a

As far as triple-A-ish games go, Highguard might go down in history as one of the games that spent the least time in the spotlight, and even when it did, it was all for the wrong reasons. The game was a complete secret until The Game Awards 2025. The CEO of game developer Wildlight Entertainment, Dusty Welch, would later reveal that their original goal was to shadowdrop the game in late January, much as Respawn's Apex Legends did back in 2019 (on which several members of the team had worked). However, when Geoff Keighley suddenly came to Wildlight with the […]

World of Warcraft Is by Far the Most Played Game of Old-School FPS Guru John Romero: β€œI Lived in That Game for 5 Years”

17 February 2026 at 22:30

John Romero was a big World of Warcraft player.

Here's something we weren't really expecting to read: John Romero, the man behind some of the greatest old-school first-person shooter games (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake), revealed that his most-played game of all time is Blizzard's World of Warcraft. That's about as far from the games he's most renowned for as you could imagine, being an MMORPG with stylized visuals and tab-targeting combat. And yet, Romero himself told PC Gamer that he lived in Azeroth for five years: It's World of Warcraft. I have probably 3,000-plus hours in WoW. God, I lived in that game every day for five years. Six […]

[UPDATE] Just a few hours after we posted this story, Microsoft has confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is indeed being added to Xbox Game Pass soon. Find out the full list of new additions here. [ORIGINAL STORY] Xbox Game Pass just received Kingdom Come: Deliverance a few days ago, and now a "rumor" suggests its sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, might join the library shortly. We said "rumor" because the tease comes from an official source, the X account of Microsoft's subscription service, which brushed up the emails of "Melissa McGamepass" for the occasion. Battlefield 6 Season 2 Delay Should Remain an Isolated Case, According to Devs

17 February 2026 at 13:30

A soldier wearing tactical gear and a gas mask standing in a misty forest with the text 'Battlefield 6 Season 2'

Later today, Battlefield 6 Season 2 will kick off in earnest on all platforms. The second season of the military first-person shooter's live service was famously delayed for about a month, causing outrage in the game's community. Now, in an interview with Gamereactor, producer Phil Girette has explained why that happened, while also suggesting it won't happen again following changes made internally across the various departments at Battlefield Studios (which comprises DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, Criterion Games, and Motive Studio). We came out of the launch from Battlefield 6, and we don't have the best of track records for launches, […]

PlayStation 6 Won’t Include the Full AMD RDNA 5 Feature Set, Claims Leaker

16 February 2026 at 23:15

A close-up shot of an AMD RDNA 5 chip and the PlayStation 6 logo displayed prominently.

There's been a lot of talk lately about Sony's formally unannounced (as of yet) PlayStation 6 console. The most recent report from earlier today revealed that Sony is even considering delaying the PS6's tentative 2027 launch window to 2028 or even 2029, largely due to the ongoing RAM and storage crisis that has driven component prices literally through the roof. The report came from MST Financial Senior Research Analyst David Gibson, who had already suggested last month that the PlayStation 6 could be delayed beyond previous estimates, thus also extending the lifecycle of the current PlayStation console, the PS5. But […]

Nintendo Once Again Brings DMCA Hammer Down on Switch Emulators, But Eden Is Fighting the Notice

16 February 2026 at 13:30

Nintendo once again brings the hammer down on Switch emulators

In 2024, after years of seemingly turning a blind eye, Nintendo brought the DMCA takedown hammer hard on Switch emulators like Yuzu and Ryujinx. Despite the significant blow, however, it was far from the end of the Nintendo Switch emulator scene. Ryujinx and Yuzu forks are still available, and brand new emulators like Eden and Citron, just to name two, have emerged over time. Nintendo's latest big release, Metroid Prime 4, was immediately playable on those Switch emulators. On Friday, though, the Switch emulator scene suffered another scare as Nintendo sent a new DMCA takedown notice targeting the GitHub pages […]

The next game directed by Cory Barlog, the Game Director behind 2007's God of War II and 2018's God of War, wasn't shown at the February 2026 State of Play. However, according to two of the most reliable insiders, it is targeting a Summer reveal ahead of a tentative 2027 release. NatetheHate tweeted as much on X, while adding that he will probably be able to share more information about the project in the future: Cory is working on his own project and it remains unannounced. I'll share more when I can. We will hear about it before 2027. My […]

Ashes of Creation Investor Alleges Founder Orchestrated $140 Million Fraud

14 February 2026 at 20:00

Steven Sharif, founder and CEO of Ashes of Creation developer Intrepid Studios.

Earlier this month, the developer behind the crowdfunded fantasy MMORPG Ashes of Creation, Intrepid Studios, suddenly collapsed, leaving backers and fans baffled less than two months after the game's launch on Steam Early Access. As it turns out, though, the project had been teetering on the brink of collapse for a very long time. YouTuber NefasQS, AKA Caspar, has managed to interview one of the game's main investors, Jason Caramanis, who has come forward to reveal what he alleges is a massive, years-long fraud perpetrated by Steven Sharif, founder and creative director of Intrepid Studios. Caramanis is a 57-year-old multi-level […]

Valve Adds the Ability to Attach Your PC Specs to Steam Reviews

14 February 2026 at 01:00

The image shows a large text overlay saying 'STEAM REVIEWS' with a blurred background featuring thumbs up and thumbs down

It's no secret that user-submitted Steam Reviews have often been quite controversial, especially during so-called "review bombings". In these instances, specific games have been targeted with a deluge of negative reviews, thus crashing the overall user review score on Valve's platform. One of the earliest scenarios was the review bombing of Firewatch, Campo Santo's acclaimed adventure game released in 2016. The following year, YouTuber PewDiePie racially insulted a player during a livestream in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), and Campo Santo's founder Sean Vanaman asked YouTube to remove all of PewDiePie's videos from the platform. However, in retaliation, PewDiePie's legion of followers […]
