Just In: Newcastle United winning transfer battle against Liverpool for 22-year-old African star

13 May 2026 at 13:31

Newcastle United appear to be moving strongly in the race for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, and that could be bad news for Liverpool.

According to TEAMtalk, the Magpies are currently ahead of the Reds in the battle to sign the 22-year-old Senegal international, who has been building a very solid reputation in France.

Camara joined Monaco from FC Metz in 2024 and has already racked up 70 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.

That is a lot of senior football for someone still only 22, and it explains why Premier League clubs are now starting to pay serious attention to him.

Newcastle’s interest makes plenty of sense. Their midfield has often looked strong on paper, but there is still a feeling that Eddie Howe’s squad needs more energy, depth and long-term security in that area.

Newcastle United are looking for a new midfielder

The situation around Sandro Tonali also adds another angle to the story. If Tonali leaves in the summer, Newcastle would need a proper replacement rather than a quick squad filler.

Camara could fit that idea nicely. He is young, mobile, aggressive in midfield and already has experience playing at a good level in Ligue 1.

He is not just a project player who needs three or four years before he can contribute. He has already played regular senior football and has international experience with Senegal, which usually helps players handle pressure and physical battles.

Liverpool being mentioned is also not surprising. The Reds are always looking at midfielders who can cover ground, press well and grow into bigger roles.

Even after refreshing their midfield in recent seasons, Liverpool still need to keep planning ahead. Players move on, form drops, injuries happen, and the best clubs are usually the ones who solve problems before they become obvious.

Magpies move would make more sense than Liverpool

But this is where Newcastle may have an advantage. At Liverpool, Camara might look at the squad and wonder how quickly he would get regular starts.

There is a lot of competition in midfield, and even talented players can find themselves stuck in rotation. Newcastle, on the other hand, may be able to offer a clearer route to important minutes, especially if Tonali goes.

Camara would not be the loudest signing of the summer, but he could be a clever one. Sometimes these are the deals that end up mattering most. A player like him can bring legs, hunger and competition to a midfield that needs to stay fresh across a long season.

For Liverpool, missing out would not be a disaster, but it would be slightly annoying if Camara becomes a star elsewhere.

The Reds have been very good at identifying players before they explode, so when they are linked with someone, it usually means there is something interesting there.

Liverpool look towards rival Premier League goalkeeper to replace club legend Alisson

Report: Ligue 1 star high on Liverpool radar to potentially replace club icon

13 May 2026 at 12:57

If you asked any Liverpool supporter a few months ago how the post-Alisson Becker era would play out, most would have pointed directly to Giorgi Mamardashvili and considered the case closed.

But as the summer transfer window looms, the situation could change quickly with the Merseyside club considering options in the market if Alisson leaves.

Even though the 33-year-old recently penned an extension tying him to Anfield until 2027, he is being linked with a move to Juventus in Serie A.

You would assume Alisson’s exit simply triggers Mamardashvili’s automatic coronation as the undisputed number one. Instead, emerging reports claim Liverpool’s higher-ups aren’t entirely comfortable handing the Georgian the keys without a backup plan.

Reds are interested in a move for Ligue 1 star

This is where Lucas Chevalier enters the picture. According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool are targeting a move for the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old French keeper is currently enduring a nightmare stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
Just last summer, PSG shelled out roughly €40 million to bring him in from Lille as the definitive replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But life under Luis Enrique can be notoriously ruthless, following a shaky start to life at the Parc des Princes, Chevalier found himself benched in favour of Matvey Safonov.

Now, despite holding a contract that runs until 2030, Chevalier is firmly on the market, and Liverpool’s scouting department is reportedly eager to offer him an escape route to the Premier League.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has also been floated as a potential wildcard target if Villa are forced into a big-money summer sale.

Should Liverpool target a move for the PSG goalkeeper?

If he has already struggled to settle at PSG, Liverpool would need to be very sure that he has the mentality to handle Anfield, the Premier League and the pressure of replacing an all-time great.

Signing Chevalier on top of Mamardashvili could create an awkward situation unless there is a very clear plan. Two young goalkeepers fighting for one position sounds good in theory, but in reality, keepers need rhythm, trust and regular matches.

Liverpool should either fully back Mamardashvili or bring in an experienced keeper like Martinez for a shorter-term transition.

Chevalier makes sense only if the club genuinely believes he is better suited to their future than Mamardashvili.

Alisson leaving would be a huge emotional and footballing blow, so it makes sense for Richard Hughes and the recruitment team to look at different options early.

Arsenal urged to make bold move for versatile midfielder to rescue him from La Liga

13 May 2026 at 12:43

Arsenal have been told they should be ready to make a serious move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni if he becomes available this summer.

The Gunners already have a strong midfield of Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, not to forget Myles-Lewis Skelly has also been deployed in the midfield and he has been quite impressive.

Tchouameni has been linked with a possible Premier League switch, and talkSPORT’s Andy Brassell believes Mikel Arteta’s side should not ignore the opportunity, especially if Manchester City are also watching the situation closely.

The interesting part is not just that Arsenal could strengthen their own midfield. It is also about stopping one of their biggest title rivals from getting stronger. That is where this story becomes a lot more interesting.

Real Madrid could sell the French midfielder

Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid appears uncertain after reports of a serious training-ground dispute involving him and Federico Valverde.

He is still only in his mid-20s, has a contract until 2028, and is valued at more than £70 million.

“I think it’s a really difficult decision for Real Madrid because there’s so much of what Tchouameni does which should be what they’re going to build around in the years to come,” Brassell told talkSPORT.

“You look at his age, you look at the number of years that he’s got to give them, how much he’s got to develop, how much he’s developed already.

“He’s someone who can play centre-back and not look like a midfielder playing in defence as well. That’s really useful.

“You add on to the fact that he is a real leader and from the moment he arrived, a little bit like Jude Bellingham, he really impressed people with his personality, his attitude, his confidence, his application.

“But there’s no getting away from the fact that he and Valverde have had this serious argument,” Brassell continued to talkSPORT.

“There’s probably an argument that one of them has to go, and basically, Tchouameni’s got a bigger market out there.

“Real Madrid, I think, will at least consider offers – In an ideal world, I don’t think they sell him, but there will always be a market for Tchouameni in the Premier League, and there’ll probably be some recognition of that and depending on the offer, I guess it’s something they might take as well.

“I think when you look at the clubs, there are two obvious answers, and those are the two teams at the top of the league, Arsenal and Manchester City.”

Ultimately, executing a successful raid on Real Madrid for a prime-age international of Tchouameni’s caliber will require a monumental financial package.

Arsenal could make a statement with this signing

Yet, for Arsenal, planning a move for Tchouameni would make a statement and show their rivals that they mean business for next season.

Arteta is an admirer of versatile players who can play in a number of different positions, the Frenchman is exactly that.

Landing the French dynamo would not only future-proof the Gunners’ midfield for peak domestic and European competition but also deliver a profound psychological blow to their rivals.

He is an outstanding player, no doubt. If he becomes available, nearly every top club should at least ask the question.

But from Arsenal’s point of view, the real value might not only be what he adds to their squad.

It is what he prevents City from adding to theirs. That sounds slightly ruthless, but that is what elite clubs do.

When you are fighting for titles, you cannot just think about improving yourself. You also have to think about blocking your rivals from solving their problems.

“Anything can happen’ – Liverpool star unsure over his long term future at Anfield

13 May 2026 at 11:46

Joe Gomez could be one of the next experienced Liverpool players facing a big decision this summer.

After spending more than a decade at Anfield, the defender’s future is starting to look a little unclear, especially with only one year remaining on his current contract.

Gomez has been at Liverpool since 2015, making him the longest-serving player currently at the club. That alone says a lot.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

He has been through almost everything with the Reds, the highs of winning the Premier League and Champions League, the injury setbacks, the squad rebuilds, and the changing eras under different managers.

But football moves quickly, and this summer may force both the club and the player to think seriously about what comes next.

Joe Gomez has been a brilliant servant for Liverpool

The situation is not exactly simple. Gomez still has plenty to offer. He is experienced, calm, and extremely useful because he can play across the whole back line.

Whether Liverpool need him at centre-back, right-back or even left-back, he has usually been willing to step in and do the job without making a fuss.

But the problem is game time. Injuries have disrupted him again this season, with small fitness issues limiting his rhythm. He has started only 15 matches from 31 appearances, and across the last two campaigns, he has managed just 48 appearances in total.

Asked about his future, he said, as reported by Sky Sports:

“No. I think anything can happen. I don’t know is the honest answer.

“I’ve only got a year left so I don’t know, but whatever is meant to be will be, I guess.

“But I’m so grateful to have had this time here at this club. I’ll always be grateful to have had 11 years at a place like this. All I can do is be thankful and we’ll see.”

For a player approaching 29, that is not ideal. This is the stage of his career where he probably wants to be playing regularly, not sitting around waiting for gaps in the squad.

Liverpool’s defensive options also appear to be getting stronger. Jeremy Jacquet is reportedly arriving from Rennes in a £60 million deal, while Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are expected to return from serious knee injuries.

What next for the English defender?

There has also been outside interest before. Newcastle were linked with him last season, while AC Milan have been mentioned this term.

Liverpool should not push Gomez out without respect, because he has been a loyal servant and has delivered in some huge moments. But at the same time, keeping him around just because he has been there for years would not really help him or the club.

From Gomez’s point of view, a fresh challenge could be exactly what he needs. He is not finished. He is not too old. He still has the qualities to be a regular starter somewhere else.

But at Liverpool, he may now be seen more as a reliable squad option than a first-choice defender.

Liverpool are building for the future, and Gomez may need a club where he can be more than just a useful backup.

Not Rice or Raya: Scholes names Arsenal player who deserves Player of the year crown

13 May 2026 at 11:02

Paul Scholes has never been the type to say something just to please Manchester United fans, and his latest Premier League Player of the Year opinion proves that once again.

With the season reaching its final stretch, the debate around the league’s standout performer has become a big talking point, and Scholes has surprised plenty of people by backing Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães for the award.

Players like Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice have been in the conversation mostly.

Some people have even mentioned Gunners goalkeeper David Raya as a strong contender by Scholes believes Gabriel deserves it ahead of other players.

Scholes praises Arsenal defender Gabriel

Scholes said he would “probably go with Gabriel,” arguing that the Brazilian has been Arsenal’s best player this season. He also admitted Declan Rice has been brilliant, but suggested Rice has not quite done enough to win the honour.

He said on The Good, The Bad & The Football Podcast: “I would probably go with Gabriel. I think he has been Arsenal’s best player.

“People say Declan Rice – Brilliant player, but I don’t think he has done enough to win the Player of the Year.

“I think probably Bruno has been the best player but I get Nicky’s point of being at the top of the league.”

It is definitely an interesting shout. Usually, these individual awards are dominated by attacking players, the ones scoring goals, creating chances, producing highlight moments and carrying the biggest media attention.

That is why names like Fernandes, Rice and Erling Haaland naturally come up before a centre-back like Gabriel.

But Scholes’ argument does make some sense from a different angle. Arsenal are fighting at the very top of the table, and Gabriel has been a massive part of their defensive strength.

Gabriel has been a huge asset for Arteta’s side

He has brought leadership, aggression, consistency and calmness to Mikel Arteta’s side. In a title race, those qualities matter just as much as goals and assists, even if they do not always get the same spotlight.

Scholes is right to give Gabriel more respect, because defenders are too often pushed aside in these conversations.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s most important players and deserves to be mentioned seriously.

Scholes has definitely sparked debate with his surprise choice, and that is probably the point.

Gabriel has been outstanding and deserves more credit than he usually gets, especially in a league that often favours attackers.

The majority might still feel that Fernandes is the better player but Arsenal possibly winning the league might give edge to their players.

‘High-energy’ midfielder wanted at Man United before the start of the World Cup

13 May 2026 at 10:45

With Champions League football officially secured for next season, Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the Old Trafford hierarchy has set its sights on finalising a blockbuster deal for Brighton & Hove Albion’s standout midfielder Carlos Baleba before the 2026 World Cup kicks off in North America.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a primary target to anchor United’s revamped engine room.

United hope to bypass the inevitable market inflation and provide Michael Carrick, or whoever becomes their permanent manager, with a vital foundational cornerstone for his demanding upcoming campaign.

Carlos Baleba has been impressive for Brighton

Baleba has been described as a ‘high-energy‘ midfielder since his move to Brighton.

Veteran midfielder Casemiro is preparing to walk through the exit door upon the expiration of his contract this June, while Manuel Ugarte is heavily tipped for a permanent departure following an unconvincing stint at the club.

Man United have made signing a new midfielder their priority this summer. It is highly likely that the Red Devils could target more than one midfielder this summer.

The Red Devils previously explored a serious push for Baleba during the January window, but the South Coast club firmly blocked his exit.

Man United hold long term interest in Baleba

To his credit, the youngster maintained complete professionalism and honored Brighton’s wishes to remain at the Amex Stadium for the remainder of the campaign, despite privately relishing the prospect of a switch to Old Trafford.

With Cameroon failing to qualify for the expanded tournament in North America, Baleba faces an entirely uninterrupted summer break.

While many of the market’s elite midfield targets will be heavily restricted inside national team camps, United decision-makers have a completely clear runway to finalise a move for the young midfielder.

If United can successfully execute this move, knowing how stubborn Brighton usually are in letting their players leave the club, they will be getting a talented, young midfielder who will be a huge asset to the club for years to come.

Just In: Premier League boss ruled out of Man United job, making Carrick clear favourite

13 May 2026 at 10:23

Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has been ruled out of contention for the permanent head coach vacancy at Manchester United, according to Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford hierarchy has shifted its absolute focus toward rewarding interim boss Michael Carrick with a permanent, long-term contract following his brilliant performance as the club’s interim manager.

With the door to Manchester firmly closed, Iraola is now entirely free to evaluate advanced formal proposals from the capital, where both Crystal Palace and Chelsea are actively battling to secure the signature of one of Europe’s most coveted tactical minds.

Man United have complete faith in Carrick

The boardroom’s change of plans at Old Trafford is a direct consequence of Carrick’s interim success.

Stepping into the dugout in January under deeply turbulent circumstances following Rúben Amorim’s sudden departure, the 44-year-old was initially viewed as a simple steadying hand to navigate the remainder of the season.

Instead, Carrick has overseen a magnificent domestic turnaround, guiding the Red Devils to 10 victories across 14 Premier League outings.

After officially securing vital Champions League qualification with a brilliant 3-2 triumph over Liverpool last weekend, INEOS decision-makers concluded that looking past their former midfielder would be a massive mistake.

Iraola will still have plenty of options

With United no longer in the race, the pursuit of the 43-year-old Basque tactician has intensified into a high-stakes London derby.

Having guided Bournemouth to the absolute brink of historic European qualification, steering the Cherries to sixth in the table amid a spectacular, high-octane campaign, Iraola’s stock has never been higher.

The Spaniard is now one of the top contenders for the Chelsea and Crystal Palace job.

Whether Iraola chooses the high risk Chelsea project or the ambitious, young Palace job, remains to be seen.

Sky Sport: Man City have a strategy to land wonderkid ahead of Bayern Munich

13 May 2026 at 09:57

Hertha BSC’s 16-year-old midfield sensation Kennet Eichhorn has captured the undivided attention of Europe’s elite.

While domestic giants like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig are actively maneuvering to secure his signature, Manchester City have formulated a highly creative strategy to win the race.

According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, manager Pep Guardiola intends to trigger the youngster’s release clause this summer and immediately send him on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, so that he can continue his development even after signing him.

Eichhorn’s meteoric rise over the past year has caught the attention of the biggest clubs in the world.

Eichhorn has made history this season

Standing at an imposing 1.86 meters, the defensive midfielder combines raw physical authority with technical composure.

He has continuously rewritten the history books since making his senior debut: after becoming the youngest player to ever appear in the 2. Bundesliga last August.

Just days ago, on May 10, he cemented his wonderkid status once more, scoring in a 2-1 victory over Greuther Fürth to officially become the youngest goalscorer in 2. Bundesliga history at 16 years and 287 days.

Tactically, Eichhorn is the ideal type of the modern deep-lying midfielder.

Displaying immense spatial awareness and a resistance to pressure that draws frequent comparisons to the likes of Sergio Busquets and Toni Kroos, he relies on crisp, line-breaking distribution and positional intelligence rather than unnecessary dribbling.

Man City are ready to make the bargain move

Contractually, interested suitors have been handed a rare golden opportunity. Although Eichhorn’s contract at Hertha runs until 2029, a highly accessible release clause becomes active at the end of the season.

Capped between €10 million and €12 million, depending on variables such as Hertha’s league status, the destination country, and the purchasing club’s European involvement, the fee represents an absolute bargain in the modern market.

Man City have the right environment for a young player and Guardiola has a habit of spotting talent before they eventually reach another level.

€100 million winger is high on Liverpool shortlist as Reds target pre-World Cup agreement

12 May 2026 at 14:48

Liverpool’s forward planning for the next era could lead them towards one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young attackers, with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande continuing to attract major attention across Europe.

The 19-year-old Ivorian has enjoyed a rapid rise since moving to Germany, and his explosive performances have made him a player of serious interest for clubs looking to refresh their attacking options.

With Liverpool expected to reshape their frontline in the coming windows, Diomande’s name naturally stands out, according to TEAMtalk.

He has pace, directness, strong one-v-one ability and the confidence to influence matches at a high level despite his age.

Yan Diomande has caught the attention of big clubs

Diomande joined RB Leipzig in July 2025 and is contracted to the Bundesliga club until 2030, giving Leipzig a strong position in any future negotiations.

His numbers help explain the excitement. FotMob credits Diomande with 12 goals and seven assists in the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, while Bundesliga’s official profile lists him as a 19-year-old RB Leipzig forward with Ivory Coast nationality.

That level of production from a teenager in one of Europe’s strongest leagues is exactly why his valuation has climbed so quickly.

One of his standout moments came against Eintracht Frankfurt, when he scored a second-half hat-trick in Leipzig’s 6-0 victory.

Reuters reported that Diomande completed the treble in just 18 minutes, becoming the second-youngest player to score a Bundesliga hat-trick. That kind of performance underlined his ability to decide games, not just contribute in flashes.

Signing the Ivorian makes sense for Liverpool

For Liverpool, Diomande would represent a bold but logical signing. The Reds have built much of their modern success around wide forwards who can stretch defences, press with energy and provide regular goal output.

Diomande is still developing, but his profile fits the type of dynamic attacker Liverpool have often admired.

With Mohamed Salah leaving the club, Diomande has become a priority target for the Reds.

There would, however, be obvious risks. A fee close to €100 million would place huge pressure on a player still early in his senior career.

Leipzig are also known for developing elite young talent and selling only when the price is right, meaning Liverpool would have to be decisive and financially aggressive to make a deal happen.

Liverpool look towards rival Premier League goalkeeper to replace club legend Alisson

12 May 2026 at 14:07

Liverpool could be heading into a significant goalkeeping decision this summer, with Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez emerging as a possible target if Alisson Becker leaves Anfield.

The Brazilian has been one of Liverpool’s most influential players since arriving from Roma in 2018, but fresh reports claim Juventus are pushing to bring him to Serie A.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are assessing Martinez as part of their contingency planning, with the Reds aware that Alisson is entering the final year of his contract.

Juventus’ interest has added urgency to the situation, and Liverpool appear unwilling to be caught unprepared if their long-serving No.1 decides to move on.

Alisson Becker could be heading out of Liverpool

Alisson’s importance to Liverpool cannot be overstated. Since joining the club, he has played a crucial role in their Champions League and Premier League triumphs, combining elite shot-stopping with calm distribution and leadership from the back.

However, the situation around his future has become more delicate, with talkSPORT reporting that Juventus have made him a key target while Liverpool face pressure to keep hold of an experienced figure during a period of squad change.

That is where Martinez enters the picture. The Argentina international has built a strong reputation at Aston Villa, not only through his Premier League performances but also through his success with Argentina, including the 2022 World Cup.

His personality, command of the penalty area and ability to perform in high-pressure moments would make him a natural candidate for a club of Liverpool’s size.

From Liverpool’s perspective, Martinez would bring immediate experience rather than a long-term project.

Reds have identified Martinez as Alisson’s replacement

At 33, he would not be a signing for the distant future, but he could offer the authority and winning mentality needed if Alisson departs. That may appeal to a Liverpool side that still wants to compete at the highest level while managing a wider rebuild.

Villa, meanwhile, would not be expected to let Martinez leave easily. He has been one of the defining players of their rise under Unai Emery, and losing him would create a major gap.

Reports have suggested that Villa are looking at Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford as a possible replacement if Martinez moves on, showing that they may already be preparing for different outcomes.

Carragher explains on MNF why Arsenal are “disliked” following VAR controversy

12 May 2026 at 13:51

Arsenal’s tense 1-0 win over West Ham has added another major talking point to an already dramatic Premier League title race.

Leandro Trossard’s late goal looked to have secured a crucial victory for Mikel Arteta’s side, but the match exploded into controversy deep into stoppage time when Callum Wilson appeared to equalise for the Hammers.

After a lengthy VAR review, referee Chris Kavanagh overturned the goal, ruling that Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya had been fouled in the build-up.

The decision protected Arsenal’s lead, kept them five points clear of Manchester City, and sparked fierce debate over whether the correct call had been made.

Carragher shares opinion on latest Arsenal controversy

Jamie Carragher offered a strong view on the controversy during his Sky Sports analysis.

The former Liverpool defender argued that Arsenal are not necessarily treated differently by officials, but he believes they have developed a reputation for pushing the limits in several areas of the game.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Carragher said Arsenal’s aggressive approach to set-pieces, touchline behaviour and penalty-box battles has made rival fans feel they regularly “get away with it”.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said, as reported by The Standard:

“This all started with Arsenal two or three seasons ago putting 15 players in a six yard box and the reason people are annoyed with Arsenal, and feel they’ve got away with it, is that this is a football club who push the boundaries in every area to try and gain an advantage – that’s why they are disliked.

“The manager stands on the edge of the touchline, putting the opposition’s left wing or right back off, screaming down his ear. Gabriel going down on the floor anytime someone breaths on him.

“The goalkeeper being the first one to take the atmosphere in a stadium to another degree and what they do at set pieces. That’s why there’s this feeling ‘they do it every week, how are they getting away with it’. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a foul.”

Arteta is getting closer to league title

Arteta, unsurprisingly, defended the officials and praised the referee for making what he saw as a brave decision under huge pressure. West Ham, meanwhile, were left furious after believing they had earned a valuable point.

Arsenal may view the West Ham win as another sign of champions finding a way through difficult moments, but the controversy will not disappear quickly.

Arsenal are admired for their intensity and detail, yet disliked by many rivals for the way they test the boundaries, as per Carragher.

What matters most for Arteta is the result. With only two league games remaining, Arsenal remain in control of their title destiny.

But if they do go on to lift the Premier League trophy, this dramatic VAR escape at the London Stadium may be remembered as one of the defining moments of their season.

Gary Neville issues important advise to Mikel Arteta ahead of the Champions League final

12 May 2026 at 13:17

Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has offered a definitive tactical roadmap for Arsenal.

Neville expressed immense confidence that Mikel Arteta’s men will arrive as newly crowned champions of England, ending a 22-year domestic drought.

However, overcoming reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain represents an entirely different caliber of test.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

While Neville candidly admits that Luis Enrique’s star-studded PSG are currently the “better side” on paper, he insists Arsenal can still conquer the continent if they strictly lean into their elite defensive ability and sheer physical strength.

Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, Neville analysed the contrasting fortunes of the two finalists.

PSG arrive in Budapest with formidable pedigree, aiming to secure back-to-back Champions League titles after ruthlessly dismantling Inter Milan 5-0 in last year’s final.

Acknowledging the undeniable technical supremacy of the French giants over the past two seasons, Neville emphasised that Arsenal cannot afford to engage in an open, end-to-end shootout.

Neville has told Arteta to play defensive football

Instead, the Gunners must approach the 90 minutes with absolute pragmatism, utilising their rock-solid defensive organisation to frustrate PSG’s lethal attacking patterns.

“Arsenal have got such momentum now,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast.

“They beat Atletico Madrid, watched Man City drop points at Everton and then winning at West Ham in that way.

“Winning it that way is far more special that winning the game 3-0, you’d love to win games easily but those type of results build confidence, resilience and momentum.

“The Arsenal players should be in dreamland now, they should be unstoppable, nothing should be able to stop them now.

“In the Champions League final they need to think about their defensive ability and strength and think how they can over 90 minutes beat a team who are better than them.

“Because PSG are better than them, you can’t get away from that. PSG are a better team than Arsenal right now and they’ve demonstrated that over the last two seasons.”

Arsenal face their biggest test in decades

There is no doubt that this is going to be Arsenal’s biggest test in recent history.

Winning the biggest honour in club football is something they are desperately looking at and it is a trophy that they have not won in their illustrious history.

Arteta now has the opportunity to win it, along with winning the Premier League as well.

This could be the greatest season in Arsenal’s history if they complete the double.

While in the Premier League they are the favourites, in the Champions League, they are clearly the underdogs.

According to Daily Mirror, standout full-back Jurrien Timber is locked in a desperate race against time to prove his fitness for the European showpiece.

The Dutchman has struggled for fitness in the last few weeks and his absence is expected to be a major worry for Arteta and his staff.

Timber has struggled with fitness issues recently

Sidelined since March 14 due to a persistent groin issue, the 24-year-old Dutch international is approaching a definitive “make or break” week in his rehabilitation.

Timber’s potential availability could ultimately dictate Arsenal’s tactical approach as they seek to claim the ultimate prize in club football.

The timing of Timber’s absence is particularly agonising given the sheer scale of his contributions this season.

Prior to his setback, the versatile defender had firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s premier full-backs, offering elite 1v1 defensive security and exceptional composure in possession.

Complicating matters for Arteta is the sudden, severe depletion of his options at right-back.

Arteta will be short of options at right-back

Ben White sustained a suspected knee ligament injury during the London derby against West Ham United, leaving the Gunners critically short of natural, top-tier cover on the right flank.

Awaiting Arsenal in the final is a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain side who have Khvicha Kvaratskhelia playing on the left-wing for them and considering his form and talent, the Gunners would need their right-back to be at the top of his game.

Should Timber’s intensive training push fail to produce positive results this week, Arteta will be forced into an emergency tactical reshuffle against one of the most lethal attacking units on the continent.

While Arsenal remain entirely focused on navigating their final two Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace to seal domestic glory, Arteta will have one eye on the final against PSG.

Overhaul at Old Trafford: Man United plan for major summer rebuild has emerged

12 May 2026 at 12:23

With Champions League football officially secured for next season, Manchester United are wasting no time laying the foundations for a massive summer window.

The Red Devils hierarchy are preparing to execute a comprehensive squad overhaul, targeting a minimum of five key acquisitions during the upcoming transfer window, according to The Sun.

Old Trafford decision-makers have mapped out a precise structural blueprint: bringing in three central midfielders, a dependable left-back, and a dynamic back-up striker.

This aggressive push shows the club’s unwavering ambition to equip interim manager Michael Carrick, or his eventual permanent successor, with a squad capable of competing on multiple elite fronts.

Man United are planning major changes this summer

The decision to heavily prioritise the engine room is born out of absolute tactical necessity.

The looming departure of veteran midfielder Casemiro, whose contract expires in the coming weeks, leaves a void in physical authority and defensive screen protection.

United are casting a wide net to completely revamp their central options.

Nottingham Forest’s standout talent Elliot Anderson has emerged as the club’s leading domestic target, alongside highly advanced tracking of Atalanta’s all-action Brazilian dynamo Ederson.

By aiming to sign three distinct midfield profiles, the recruitment team intends to build a highly adaptable, modern unit that provides the perfect platform for homegrown sensation Kobbie Mainoo to thrive.

Red Devils are planning to strengthen their defense

Availability issues on the left side of the defense have continuously disrupted United’s backline, making a durable, top-tier left-back a non-negotiable target to provide long-term stability.

Meanwhile, signing a high-quality back-up striker is essential to ease the immense goal-scoring burden that Benjamin Sesko faces at the club.

Following the highly successful blueprint of previous windows, sporting directors are focused on landing prime-age, scalable assets who offer long-term stability.

To finance this multi-million-pound spending spree, Old Trafford executives are prepared to be just as ruthless with outgoings, potential big-money departures of figures like Manuel Ugarte, or even high-profile sales of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund, could provide the vital financial windfall needed to balance the books under strict Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Sources: Man City have Brazilian defender on radar but Barca & Real Madrid stand in their way

12 May 2026 at 11:13

As the Serie A campaign moves towards its final stretch, AS Roma may already be facing one of the biggest transfer battles of the summer.

Brazilian right-back Wesley has rapidly become one of the most talked-about defenders in Europe, with clubs from England and Spain now monitoring his situation closely, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Among the top clubs closely monitoring the Brazilian, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the most prominent ones, looking to sign the talented Serie A star.

Roma signed Wesley from Flamengo in July 2025, confirming the deal as a permanent transfer, while reports at the time suggested the package was worth around €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

The 22-year-old has since developed into an important figure in the Italian capital, and his rise has not gone unnoticed.

Wesley is high in demand ahead of summer window

Wesley’s appeal is easy to understand. Modern elite clubs no longer look at full-backs simply as defenders. They want players who can recover quickly, carry the ball, press aggressively, defend one-v-one situations and contribute in advanced areas.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Wesley fits that profile. His time in Serie A has also helped sharpen the tactical side of his game, with Roma giving him a platform to prove he can handle a more disciplined defensive environment after coming through at Flamengo.

According to Transfermarkt, Wesley is under contract with Roma until June 2030, which gives the Italian club a strong negotiating position.

His market value is currently listed at €40 million, but recent reports suggest Roma could demand significantly more if Europe’s biggest clubs make formal approaches.

Interest from the Premier League appears particularly strong. Man City, Newcastle United have all been impressed by Wesley, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked.

Man City are targeting the Brazilian full-back

For Man City, Wesley would make sense as part of a long-term refresh at full-back.

Pep Guardiola has often valued defenders who can play multiple roles in possession, and Wesley’s energy and technical confidence could suit that demand.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have the financial strength to compete if they decide to make the Brazilian a priority.

Spanish interest adds more excitement to the transfer saga. Real Madrid have built strong recruitment links in Brazil over recent years, while Barcelona are always alert to technically gifted full-backs, even if their financial limitations could complicate any move.

Roma are not under pressure to sell, and Wesley’s long contract means any deal would likely require a major offer.

However, his pace, defensive growth and attacking promise have made him one of the most attractive young right-backs in Europe. With Premier League clubs circling and Spain’s biggest sides watching closely, Wesley’s future could be away from the Serie A.

Just In: Liverpool face competition from Premier League rivals for Jarrod Bowen

12 May 2026 at 10:52

West Ham United find themselves fighting a desperate battle on two fronts: securing top-flight survival on the pitch and fending off circling suitors in the boardroom.

According to Daily Mail, a high-stakes transfer scramble is actively developing over Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen.

Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Everton have all registered strong interest in prying the 29-year-old England international away from East London.

Sources reveal that even if West Ham manage to claw their way to safety in the final two games of the campaign, Bowen could still be allowed to depart this summer for a fee in the region of £60 million.

Jarrod Bowen is attracting attention from top clubs

Bowen’s widespread appeal across the division comes as no surprise.

Since arriving at the London Stadium from Hull City in 2020 for an initial £22 million, the industrious forward has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent and lethal wide operators.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Racking up 84 goals across 278 total appearances for the club, including his immortalised match-winner in the 2023 Europa Conference League final, Bowen’s elite work rate, exceptional close control, and clinical cutting edge make him a highly coveted asset.

Each of his three domestic suitors possesses a distinct and compelling motivation for securing his signature.

Liverpool: The objective at Anfield is monumental, finding a proven, top-tier successor to legendary forward Mohamed Salah, who is set to depart the club as a free agent this June. The Reds’ recruitment team views Bowen’s durable, left-footed profile on the right flank as an ideal, ready-made solution to inject immediate Premier League quality into their transitioning attack.

Liverpool face competition from Newcastle & Everton

Newcastle United: The Magpies are actively exploring wide reinforcements as they prepare for a potential frontline reshuffle. With star attacker Anthony Gordon attracting heavy interest from European heavyweights like Bayern Munich, Newcastle view Bowen as the perfect dynamic addition to maintain high-level offensive output at St. James’ Park.

Everton: Adding a fascinating narrative twist to the race, Toffees boss David Moyes is reportedly eager to orchestrate a Goodison Park reunion with his former West Ham skipper, aiming to build Everton’s creative rebuild around a player he trusts implicitly.

While West Ham hold significant theoretical leverage on paper, having tied Bowen down to a robust long-term contract that runs until 2030, the severe financial ramifications of their current table position cannot be ignored.

Sitting 18th and two points adrift of safety, a final-day drop to the Championship would make a £60 million windfall virtually impossible for the Hammers’ hierarchy to refuse.

Report: ‘Well-built central midfielder’ is being eyed by Man United to solve midfield issues

12 May 2026 at 09:52

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of strengthening their midfield by targeting Ederson, the Brazilian midfielder currently plying his trade at Atalanta.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 26-year-old could be available for a fee in the region of £40 million, as Man United look to strengthen their squad with a blend of youth and experience for the upcoming season.

With Old Trafford decision-makers preparing for significant personnel change ahead of their return to the Champions League, securing an elite, in-prime central operator has become an urgent priority for the upcoming window.

Ederson has been an influential figure at Atalanta, known for his dynamic playing style and exceptional skills.

Ederson has made a name for himself in Serie A

Since joining the Serie A side from Salernitana in 2022, he has consistently delivered impressive performances, showcasing his ability to dictate play from the midfield.

His vision, dribbling, and ability to contribute defensively make him an attractive option for Man United, who have longed for a player to bring creativity and stability to their midfield following a turbulent season filled with inconsistency.

With veteran holding midfielder Casemiro confirming his departure upon the expiration of his contract this June, and Manuel Ugarte heavily tipped for an exit after an unconvincing stint in Manchester, United are noticeably light on reliable defensive pivot options.

While the club initially explored domestic options, including Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, massive asking prices north of £100 million have forced the Old Trafford hierarchy to pursue smarter, more cost-effective market opportunities.

Ederson fits that blueprint perfectly. The Brazilian has established himself as one of Serie A’s premier box-to-box midfielders, racking up over 175 appearances for Atalanta while playing a pivotal role in their sustained domestic and European success.

Man United see Ederson as a Casemiro replacement

Combining relentless ball recovery metrics with progressive carrying and a reliable passing range, Ederson possesses the ideal physical and technical attributes to thrive in the demanding environment of the Premier League.

South American football expert Tim Vickery has praised Ederson:

“He’s a strong, well-built central midfielder.”

“He’s strong on the ball, versatile, box-to-box and has a strong personality as well.”

Tactically, Old Trafford scouts view him as the perfect dynamic partner to anchor the midfield and unlock the advanced creative potential of Kobbie Mainoo.

United have been handed a remarkably clear run at his signature, long-standing talks between Ederson’s camp and Atlético Madrid recently collapsed after Diego Simeone’s side pivoted their attention toward finalising a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers star João Gomes.

As Michael Carrick’s side prepares to compete on multiple elite fronts next season, securing the Brazilian dynamo would provide the perfect foundational cornerstone to kickstart a critical new era at Old Trafford.

Chelsea working behind the scenes to appoint manager admired by Pep Guardiola

12 May 2026 at 09:43

As Chelsea navigate the turbulent final stretch of their campaign under interim boss Calum McFarlane following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, the club’s hierarchy has already initiated its long-term strategy for the summer.

Behind the scenes, BlueCo executives are actively laying the groundwork to secure one of the most coveted tactical minds in the European market: outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.

While Stamford Bridge remains clouded by uncertainty, the Chelsea boardroom views the 43-year-old Basque tactician as the ideal profile to inject clarity, identity, and aggressive intent into an incredibly expensive but deeply inconsistent squad, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Andoni Iraola will be available this summer

Since officially confirming in mid-April that he will step down as Bournemouth manager at the end of the season, Iraola is attracting attention from top clubs who are looking for a new manager.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Operating under distinct financial constraints compared to the division’s elite, he has transformed the Cherries into a relentless, high-octane machine pushing for a historic European qualification.

Chelsea’s sporting directors are particularly impressed with Iraola’s distinct tactical philosophy.

Furthermore, Iraola possesses an elite track record of accelerating youth development.

The vast individual leaps taken by the likes of Milos Kerkez, Ilya Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, and Antoine Semenyo under his leadership serve as the ultimate drawing card for BlueCo.

Spaniard can work wonders at Chelsea

Iraola can work exceptionally well at Chelsea, but only if the club’s management is entirely committed to adapting to his blueprint, rather than expecting him to compromise for a static squad.

If the hierarchy grants him complete tactical autonomy, targets highly athletic profiles in the transfer market, and provides the vital breathing room required to install his physically demanding identity, Iraola has the elite tactical acumen to build a relentless, top-tier force in West London.

However, executing the appointment is far from easy for the Blues.

Both Crystal Palace and Manchester United are closely following Iraola and keen to appoint him in the near future. The Spaniard could start a tug-of-war between the top clubs in the country.

Pep Guardiola has praised Iraola in the past, recognising the incredible job he had done in Spain before coming to the Premier League.

Champions League winning attacker on Arsenal’s radar favours move to Liverpool

12 May 2026 at 09:34

As Liverpool prepare for a pivotal summer transfer window aimed at comprehensively reinforcing their attacking ranks under manager Arne Slot, they have received a major boost to sign a versatile attacker.

According to reports from Le10Sport, Paris Saint-Germain’s electric winger Bradley Barcola has landed squarely on the Merseyside club’s radar.

Crucially, the 23-year-old French international is understood to be highly receptive to the prospect of testing himself at Anfield.

With Barcola set to enter the final two years of his contract at the Parc des Princes, the timing presents a crucial opportunity for the Reds to make their move.

Barcola played a pivotal role in PSG’s historic 2024–25 campaign, helping the club secure the coveted continental treble (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League).

Liverpool face competition from Arsenal to sign Barcola

The Reds may have be to wary of interest from their Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are also closely monitoring the situation of the French attacker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Since making his high-profile switch from Olympique Lyonnais to PSG in the summer of 2023, Barcola has rapidly elevated himself to a top class winger and caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Despite enjoying immense domestic success and star status in Paris, the competitive allure of the Premier League is reportedly proving incredibly tempting for the young forward as he maps out the next definitive chapter of his career.

Liverpool are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer after it became clear that Mohamed Salah is heading out at the end of the season.

Not only that, the Reds are looking to sign someone who can offer more productivity from the wide positions, particularly after Cody Gakpo’s underwhelming season at Anfield.

Frenchman would be ideal attacker for the Reds

Barcola’s profile fits perfectly into Slot’s demanding system, which heavily relies on aggressive transition play and devastating wide overloads.

His ability to consistently isolate full-backs and deliver decisive final-third output makes him an ideal candidate to energise the Reds’ flanks for the next decade.

PSG are fiercely protective of their top domestic talents and will undoubtedly demand a massive transfer fee to even entertain negotiations.

However, the revelation that Anfield holds genuine personal appeal for the player provides Liverpool with crucial leverage.

Man United shun media reports linking 23-year-old to shock summer exit

11 May 2026 at 16:13

Manchester United have moved swiftly and decisively to shut down any speculation regarding the future of Amad Diallo.

Following emerging reports linking the 23-year-old winger with an end-of-season departure, with the likes of AC Milan and Premier League rivals Sunderland reportedly monitoring his situation, Old Trafford insiders have emphatically rejected the idea of a sale.

According to TEAMtalk, the Red Devils hierarchy have effectively “laughed off” suggestions that the Ivorian international could be allowed to leave, reaffirming his status as an absolutely non-negotiable cornerstone of the club’s long-term project.

The external reports regarding Amad’s potential availability stem from what has been a highly transitional campaign for the young attacker.

Amad Diallo has turned around his season

Earlier in the season under former manager Rúben Amorim, Amad found himself frequently deployed out of position as a wing-back, a restrictive role that limited his natural attacking instincts.

However, the appointment of interim boss Michael Carrick has triggered a highly positive reset.

Carrick immediately restored the elegant forward to his preferred position in the final third, a tactical shift that has delighted the player.

Amad has privately expressed immense happiness working under the interim manager, while Carrick himself recently lauded the winger’s work ethic, energy, and overall attitude both with and without the ball.

While Amad’s raw output this term has been modest, registering just four goal contributions across 30 Premier League appearances while navigating stiff competition from summer signing Bryan Mbeumo, the Man United boardroom remains entirely unconcerned.

Man United hierarchy have complete faith in the youngster

Backed heavily by Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who played an instrumental role in handing the youngster a lucrative long-term contract extension earlier this year, the club views Amad’s versatility as crucial.

The Old Trafford recruitment team firmly believes the 23-year-old possesses an exceptionally high ceiling and fully intends to build their future forward line around his unique skill set.

Far from being surplus to requirements, Amad remains an untouchable asset at Old Trafford, firmly entrenched as one of the definitive faces of the Red Devils’ ongoing rebuild.

Premier League side slap eye-watering £84m price tag on Man United target

West Ham United are bracing themselves for a massive summer boardroom battle over their prized asset.

Their latest defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League has moved them closer to the drop and that could mean a number of their key players could leave the club in the summer transfer window.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Hammers have slapped an astronomical £84 million valuation on standout midfielder Mateus Fernandes in an effort to ward off circling suitors.

Manchester United have emerged as the primary driving force behind the interest, actively exploring avenues to revamp their engine room.

While West Ham find themselves locked in a desperate scrap for top-flight survival with just two matches remaining, their 21-year-old Portuguese sensation appears entirely destined to continue his career at the absolute highest level, regardless of the London club’s ultimate fate.

West Ham demand premium fee for star midfielder

Demanding £84 million represents more than double the initial £38 million package (plus add-ons) the Hammers invested to acquire him from Southampton just last summer.

Despite West Ham enduring a deeply turbulent domestic campaign that currently teeters on the brink of the Championship, Fernandes has been an undisputed revelation.

Featuring in 34 of the club’s 36 Premier League fixtures to date, his aggressive press resistance, exceptional ball-carrying, and relentless work ethic have made him one of the most exciting young profiles in Europe.

His meteoric rise was further validated recently when Portugal manager Roberto Martínez handed him his senior international debut against the United States.

For Man United, signing a dynamic, multi-functional midfielder is an urgent priority for the upcoming transfer window.

Man United need a midfield rebuild this summer

Not only are they losing Casemiro at the end of the season, they are also dealing with lack of quality and depth in the midfield regardless of the Brazilian’s exit.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is planning a comprehensive restructure to future-proof their squad, and Fernandes’ elite tactical versatility, capable of operating seamlessly as a deep-lying number six, a box-to-box eight, or an advanced playmaker, fits their recruitment agenda.

Furthermore, reports indicate that United captain Bruno Fernandes is highly supportive of bringing his highly rated compatriot to Manchester to help shoulder the midfield burden.

Should the Hammers suffer relegation, retaining a player of Fernandes’ caliber in the second tier will be practically impossible.

Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso emerging as a highly coveted target for Premier League teams.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Arsenal are both positioning themselves to secure the signature of the 26-year-old Italian international.

Cambiaso is reportedly ready to embark on a new chapter in his career during the upcoming transfer window, and Juventus have quietly made interested parties aware that an exit is possible.

However, prying the defender away from Turin will require a massive financial commitment, as the Bianconeri have placed a strict valuation in excess of €60 million on their prized wide operator.

Cambiaso’s steep rise to the top of English scouting lists is a direct result of his outstanding individual development.

Andrea Cambiaso has impressed this season

The Genoa-born defender has established himself as one of the most complete full-backs in European football, largely due to his exceptional tactical versatility.

Highly proficient with both feet, Cambiaso is capable of operating seamlessly as a traditional left-back, an advanced right wing-back, or even stepping centrally to act as an inverted playmaker.

For Man United, the motivations for a summer push are entirely clear.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is actively scouring the market for premium, left-sided defensive reinforcements.

With long-term availability issues continuously plaguing Luke Shaw, signing a reliable, top-tier defender who can instantly command a starting role on the left flank is an absolute priority for their defensive rebuild.

Man United face Arsenal competition to sign the Italian

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s concrete involvement shows Mikel Arteta’s relentless push for squad evolution.

Amid ongoing internal discussions regarding potential reshuffles across the backline, Arteta views Cambiaso’s exceptional awareness and two-footed flexibility as the perfect premium addition to elevate the Gunners’ tactical ceiling.

Despite the powerful allure generated by Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium, negotiating with Juventus promises to be difficult for the Premier League teams.

The Italian giants hold immense contractual leverage, having already resisted heavy interest from Manchester City in previous windows, they secured Cambiaso to a robust long-term agreement running until the summer of 2029.

Because they are under no immediate contractual pressure to sanction a cut-price sale, Juventus are standing firm on their demand for a fee north of €60 million.

Report: Liverpool target €50 million Frenchman as Mohamed Salah replacement

11 May 2026 at 14:16

Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to search for a successor of Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian attacker has announced his decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season and the Merseyside club will be left with a monumental task of replacing one of their greatest modern day players.

According to reports from L’Équipe, the Merseyside club are formally preparing a €50 million push to sign AS Monaco’s highly coveted playmaker Maghnes Akliouche.

Liverpool are prioritising a major summer rebuild in which a lot of attacking and defensive additions are expected to arrive at the club after a poor season.

Liverpool plan move for Akliouche to replace Salah

Securing the 24-year-old French international is viewed not just as a move to fill Salah’s vacant position on the right flank, but as a crucial step toward injecting desperately needed technical quality back into the team.

Replacing a historic output machine like Salah is an impossible like-for-like task, and Liverpool’s recruitment team seems fully aware of that reality.

Rather than chasing a pure winger built solely on raw pace, the Reds are targeting Akliouche for his exceptional awareness and creative intelligence.

Operating primarily off the right, the Frenchman is a master at drifting into central pockets, linking the midfield to the forward line, and orchestrating overloads through quick combinations.

His output this season shows his immense maturity, acting as the principal architect of Monaco’s attack, Akliouche has racked up seven goals and 11 assists across 41 appearances in all competitions, consistently shining both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Reds face competition to sign the Frenchman

Monaco famously played hardball last summer, slapping a prohibitive €70 million price tag on their academy graduate that successfully deterred the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, though reports indicate Akliouche personally rejected the prospect of joining Spurs regardless.

With Monaco now reportedly willing to soften their stance and sanction a sale for around €50 million, the door has opened for his exit and given encouragement to Liverpool to make a move.

Yet, Liverpool are far from alone in the race. Reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain retain a long-standing, aggressive interest in the midfielder, viewing him as the perfect premium addition to the team.

The Reds might even attempt an ambitious double swoop, monitoring Akliouche’s highly rated midfield teammate Lamine Camara as they prepare for further squad departures.

Arteta praises ‘incredible’ Arsenal star in season defining win against West Ham

11 May 2026 at 13:19

Arsenal’s gritty, hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium showed their true credentials this season.

While late-game drama and VAR interventions dominated the post-match headlines, the true cornerstone of the Gunners’ crucial triumph was the breathtaking performance of David Raya.

The Spaniard made crucial saves for the Gunners in crucial moments. The most iconic save coming against Mateus Fernandes in a one on one situation, a save that may win the title for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Spanish shot-stopper produced a masterclass in clutch goalkeeping, securing a vital three points that inches Arsenal ever closer to lifting the league title.

Arsenal manager praises goalkeeper David Raya

Mikel Arteta acknowledged the performance of Raya and praised him for his quality.

The 30-year-old made three defining saves, beginning with an acrobatic, full-stretch stop to deny Taty Castellanos just before the interval.

Raya saved his absolute best for the second half, producing a miraculous, point-blank block to thwart Fernandes when the midfielder looked destined to equalise.

He told Arsenal.com: “When you talk about magic moments, this is certainly one of the most needed moments as well to pull off with that save. He was incredible.”

The match concluded in chaotic fashion when West Ham had a stoppage-time equaliser correctly ruled out by VAR following a clear-cut foul on Raya.

Raya has been in stunning form for the Gunners

Raya registered five crucial recoveries and secured his 18th clean sheet of the campaign.

In doing so, he officially locked down his third consecutive Premier League Golden Glove award, a remarkable testament to his sustained individual excellence.

With an extended break before hosting Burnley on May 18, followed by a final-day trip to Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s objective is crystal clear, two more wins guarantee the title.

Matches like this prove that while attackers win games, world-class goalkeepers secure championships.

Arteta signed Raya to replace Aaron Ramsdale and at that time, the decision received a lot of criticism but the Spanish manager has been proved right by the goalkeeper.

Jamie Redknapp praises Arsenal player who he feels is ‘maybe the best’ in the world

11 May 2026 at 12:32

When Mikel Arteta made the ruthless call to replace fan-favourite Aaron Ramsdale, the footballing world was surprised.

Arsenal already possessed a top-class, highly popular English goalkeeper and making a move for David Raya felt something that was not needed.

However, the Spaniard has more than justified his signing, as well as the decision that Arteta made.

Raya has won the Golden Glove award in the Premier League for three seasons in a row now.

Following yet another heroic, match-winning display in a crucial, highly dramatic victory over West Ham United, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has joined a growing chorus of elite voices declaring the Spaniard not just the premier shot-stopper in England, but quite possibly the absolute best goalkeeper on the planet.

David Raya has been sensational for Arsenal

Against West Ham, in a fixture defined by intense late pressure and massive VAR controversy, Raya once again proved to be the ultimate difference-maker.

Redknapp was quick to hold his hands up and admit his own initial doubts, highlighting the incredible vision shown by the Arsenal manager.

‘When you think back, this is where the manager deserves credit because when David Raya first come, I wasn’t sure about that decision,’ Redknapp said on Sky Sports, as reported by Metro.

‘Arsenal already had a good goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale. I was thinking, “why are you making that change?”

‘But this season Raya has shown he’s definitely the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and maybe the best goalkeeper in the world.

‘It is an unbelievable save in the moment. You have to give the goalkeeper credit. He stands up and then he flicks out his right foot. It is an unbelievable save.’

Spaniard is highly valued by the Gunners

Just last month, following Raya’s masterclass in the Champions League, teammate Kai Havertz publicly voiced the exact same opinion, calling the 30-year-old phenomenally underestimated and the best player in the world in his position.

Arteta himself has continuously lauded his number one as extraordinary, fully vindicated by a player who has single-handedly rescued points for the Gunners time and time again.

While the £27 million fee paid to Brentford was initially viewed as a luxury spend, it now looks like the absolute bargain of the decade.

Raya has provided Arsenal with the calming, world-class foundation required to deal with pressure situations and ability to make saves when goals have looked certain.

As the Gunners stand on the absolute brink of lifting the Premier League trophy, Arteta’s boldest transfer gamble has evolved into a masterstroke.

‘I can guarantee’ – Romano issues monumental update on the Liverpool manager situation

11 May 2026 at 11:59

Just a year after the excitement of lifting the Premier League trophy, Arne Slot finds himself navigating an increasingly turbulent storm at Anfield.

The Reds have struggled a lot this season and they are set to end the season without silverware, a huge surprise from how they performed last year and the kind of business they did in the summer transfer window last year.

With frustrated supporters openly clamouring for a managerial change, reports inevitably linked the Merseyside club with former fan-favourite Xabi Alonso.

However, highly respected transfer authority Fabrizio Romano has definitively quashed the speculation, confirming that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) remain entirely committed to Slot and have absolutely no intention of making a change in the dugout.

Liverpool believe Arne Slot can revive the club again

Last season, Slot successfully capitalised on the world-class foundations left behind by Jürgen Klopp, steering the Reds to an incredible Premier League title in his debut campaign.

Fast forward to May 2026, and the contrast is stark. They are currently 20 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

While speaking on his Youtube channel, Romano provided the latest update. He said:

“At the moment, the feeling at Liverpool, I can confirm that it is absolutely in the direction that they want to continue with Slot. Why? Because so far, and it’s May now, it’s no longer February, March, or April. In May, Liverpool have not made contact with any other manager. There were many rumours on Liverpool making contact with Alonso coming from Germany, but I can guarantee that Liverpool this year never made any direct approach with Alonso or with his agents.”

Slot is set to have a crucial summer window

Ultimately, Liverpool’s unwavering public backing provides Slot with crucial breathing room to navigate the remainder of the season, but it also places immense importance on the upcoming summer transfer window.

Slot has been granted the opportunity to fix the ongoing structural issues, but if Liverpool do not hit the ground running with an energised, cohesive identity next season, the calls for his departure will become impossible to ignore.

It is going to be a crucial summer for Liverpool and they have some big decisions to make.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are leaving the club while Alisson Becker could be heading out as well.

Slot has to get his act together in the summer and build another title challenging team.

Sources: Liverpool make ‘concrete steps’ to sign winger with a €60 million release clause

11 May 2026 at 11:12

Francisco Trincão’s revival at Sporting CP has quietly turned him into one of the most interesting attacking names on the European transfer market.

Once regarded as one of Portugal’s brightest young talents during his move to Barcelona, the winger has rebuilt his reputation in Lisbon with maturity, consistency and end product.

The 26-year-old is now attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and Chelsea both linked with a possible summer move, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

His current Sporting contract runs until 2030, while recent reports claim his deal includes a €60 million release clause, giving interested clubs a clear figure to work with.

Trincão has impressed top clubs including Liverpool & Chelsea

Trincão has become a vital part of Sporting’s attack since joining the club permanently in 2023.

His ability to operate from wide areas, drift inside and create chances has made him especially valuable in a modern system where forwards are expected to contribute beyond goals.

He has produced 6 goals and 11 assists in the 2025/26 Liga Portugal campaign.

That consistency explains why Liverpool’s reported interest appears significant.

Liverpool have registered interest and taken concrete steps to sign Trincão, who is seen as a versatile attacking option capable of playing on the right or through central areas.

Chelsea’s interest also makes sense. The London club have repeatedly looked for technically gifted forwards who can beat defenders, create chances and offer tactical flexibility.

What next for Sporting winger Trincão?

Trincão’s left-footed profile, experience in Portugal and Spain, and improved decision-making would make him a useful addition to a squad still searching for reliable attacking balance.

Arsenal and other English clubs are also said to be monitoring the situation, but Sporting will not be under pressure to sell cheaply.

With his contract secured until 2030 and a reported €60m clause in place, the Portuguese champions are in a strong negotiating position.

Liverpool appear to be moving with real intent, Chelsea are watching closely, and Sporting know they possess a player whose value has risen sharply.

At €60m, he is not a bargain, but for clubs looking for creativity, versatility and proven output, Trincão may be one of the most attractive attacking options available.

AC Milan’s formidable centre-back Strahinja Pavlović has emerged as a target for the Red Devils, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Man United and Crystal Palace are both positioning themselves to test the resolve of the Rossoneri hierarchy.

While Crystal Palace have acted swiftly as the first club to formally gauge the parameters of a potential deal, Man United are understood to harbor a highly concrete, long-term interest.

However, prying the dominant 24-year-old away from San Siro will require a massive financial and structural push, as Milan have currently placed a strict “not for sale” tag on their defensive cornerstone.

Man United have closely monitored Pavlović

Pavlović’s steep rise to the top of English scouting lists is a testament to his exceptional individual development under manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Arriving in Lombardy in the summer of 2024 from RB Salzburg for an initial fee of €18.5 million, the aggressive, left-footed defender initially had to bide his time to adapt to the rigorous tactical demands of Italian football.

Fast forward to the current campaign, and the Serbian international has undeniably transformed into one of the most improved and dominant figures in Serie A.

Commanding the left side of Milan’s backline, Pavlović has racked up 35 appearances across all competitions, showcasing an imposing physical presence while contributing valuable attacking impetus with four goals and an assist.

Man United remain committed to acquiring elite, left-sided defensive profiles who can combine rugged aerial dominance with progressive ball-carrying abilities.

Red Devils face competition from Crystal Palace

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s early probing highlights their ambitious recruitment strategy, aiming to secure premium European talent before market valuations spiral completely out of reach.

Despite the growing external noise, AC Milan’s current public stance is uncompromising. The club views Pavlović as an indispensable pillar to build around for the future, firmly valuing him at a base floor of €40 million to €50 million.

Contractually, the Italian giants hold total leverage, Pavlović’s existing agreement runs until the summer of 2028, complete with a club option to extend the deal for an additional season.

However, reliable Italian insiders suggest that Milan’s absolute resolve could eventually be tested by their collective finish to the season.

Should the club suffer a disastrous failure to secure lucrative Champions League qualification, the hierarchy at Via Aldo Rossi may be forced to reluctantly reconsider their non-negotiable stance to balance the books.

Catalonia calling: Chelsea star is ready to abandon struggling Blues to join Barcelona

11 May 2026 at 09:44

Barcelona are interested in a move for Chelsea attacker Joao Pedro, who has highly impressed in his debut season for the Premier League side.

With Barcelona actively laying the groundwork for a transition in attack to eventually replace veteran talisman Robert Lewandowski, sporting director Deco is monitoring the Premier League market closely.

Increasing their interest is Chelsea’s deeply turbulent domestic campaign, facing the looming reality of missing out on European football next season, the Blues find themselves increasingly vulnerable to elite suitors circling their top talent.

Joao Pedro has impressed Barcelona this season

Pedro’s inclusion on Barcelona’s exclusive shortlist comes as no surprise given his exceptional individual campaign.

Arriving at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, the versatile attacker has been a rare beacon of brilliance amidst widespread collective inconsistency in West London.

Racking up 20 goals and nine assists across all competitions during his debut season, his sharp execution, physical intensity, and ability to operate both as a focal-point number nine and a creative presence between the lines have deeply impressed the Blaugrana hierarchy.

While Barcelona’s initial preference remains Álvarez, negotiations for the Argentine are expected to be exceptionally difficult.

Atlético Madrid are highly reluctant to sell, reportedly demanding a fee north of €120 million.

Consequently, Deco has seriously explored the parameters of a move for Pedro, which Sport estimates could cost between €80 million and €100 million.

Chelsea are in a strong position with the striker’s future

To pitch the move, Barcelona are reportedly leaning on their successful “Raphinha blueprint”, highlighting how another standout Brazilian international traded the Premier League for Camp Nou in his mid-20s to elevate his career to world-class heights.

Reports even indicate that Pedro has already held informal discussions with his international teammate Raphinha regarding life under manager Hansi Flick.

Although Chelsea hold immense contractual leverage, having signed Pedro to a massive deal running until 2033, their inability to offer elite European competition presents a formidable obstacle in keeping their star players content.

Ultimately, Chelsea’s ongoing struggle to establish a stable, top-four project threatens to dismantle their highly expensive squad before it fully matures.
