Injury blow for Arsenal confirmed
Arsenal are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing FA Cup exit against Southampton, and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly. They will look to secure a positive result in the first leg, and the absence of Saka and Timber could be a blow for them. Both players have been very important for Arsenal.
That said, Arsenal have a formidable squad and should be able to deal with the absence of the two players. Furthermore, the class gap between the two teams is significant, and Arsenal should be able to grind out a result against Sporting CP, even without two key players.
Can Arsenal cope without Saka and Timber?
Arsenal are in the business end of the season, and they cannot afford to lose key players to injury right now. They are in the driving seat when it comes to the Premier League title race, and they will be hoping to win the league title this season. They will also look to progress further in the UEFA Champions League and win their first European Cup.
The Gunners have already struggled in attack at times this season, and Sakaβs absence could further complicate matters. Even though Saka has not been at his best this season, he is still a difference maker for Arsenal in the final third. Timber has been exceptional in the full-back role as well. It remains to be seen whether the two players can return to action quickly.
