Regis Le Bris fires brutal dig at Tottenham after Sunderland win

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris has delivered a stinging assessment of Tottenham Hotspur following his side’s victory at the Stadium of Light, admitting he was “never worried” about the threat posed by the North London giants.

The result has further compounded the misery for Spurs, who saw their winless streak stretch to a staggering 14 matches in what was supposed to be a hopeful debut for new boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite the hype surrounding De Zerbi’s arrival, Sunderland appeared comfortable throughout the contest, exploiting a Tottenham side that looked devoid of confidence and tactical cohesion.

What Régis Le Bris said about Tottenham

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Le Bris was brutally honest about the ease with which his side handled the visitors.

While most managers offer diplomatic praise for their opponents, the Frenchman suggested that Spurs simply didn’t have the tools to hurt them.

“The opponent wasn’t strong enough to beat us. So, I wasn’t too worried,” Le Bris stated.

“We knew that if we remained disciplined and hit them on the break, the opportunities would come.

They have good individual players, but as a collective, they are struggling to find a rhythm. Today, we felt in control from the first whistle.”

Le Bris’s comments highlight a growing sentiment in the Premier League that Tottenham have become an easier side to beat for mid-table opposition.

Spurs have been woeful this campaign

The defeat leaves Tottenham in the bottom three, marking a terrible fall from grace for a club that was once a top six club.

With only 29 points from 32 games, the reality of a first relegation since 1978 is becoming increasingly unavoidable.

The woeful nature of their campaign is evidenced by the fact that they have yet to win a single match in 2026.

With just six games left to play, time is rapidly running out for the North London club to save their Premier League status.

Watch: Manchester City fan brutally troll Arsenal after statement win vs Chelsea

Manchester City’s dominant 3-0 victory over Chelsea was more than just a statement on the pitch; it provided a platform for the Etihad faithful to launch a “brutal” and highly visual taunt toward their primary title rivals, Arsenal.

While Pep Guardiola’s side dismantled a struggling Chelsea outfit, a specific moment captured by the television cameras in the stands quickly became the talking point of the weekend.

Man City fans drinking Arsenal tears

As the match drew to a close and City’s three points were secured, cameras panned to a jubilant supporter holding a water bottle prominently featuring the Arsenal club crest.

In a deliberate and mocking gesture, the fan mimicked drinking from the bottle while laughing toward the cameras, a clear nod to the growing “drinking Arsenal tears” meme circulating online.

The footage went viral across social media platforms within minutes. Rival fans interpreted the stunt as a direct jab at Arsenal’s perceived reputation as “bottlers”, a tag that has followed Mikel Arteta’s side since their late-season collapse in previous campaigns.

With City now moving within striking distance of the top spot, the psychological warfare in the stands is beginning to mirror the relentless pressure on the field.

Arsenal at the risk of potentially bottling another Premier League title

The trolling comes at a particularly sensitive time for the Gunners. Despite leading the Premier League table for the majority of the 2025/26 season, the wheels have threatened to come off in recent weeks.

Arsenal have already been dumped out of the FA Cup and the League Cup, leaving the Premier League as their final hope for major silverware this year.

However, recent stumbles against lower-table opposition have allowed Manchester City to close the gap.

The narrative of “bottling” is once again haunting North London, as fans and pundits alike question whether Arteta’s squad possesses the mental fortitude to withstand City’s traditional end-of-season “win-streak” machine.

As the race enters the final seven fixtures, the pressure on Arsenal to avoid another historical collapse is immense.

For the City supporters, the message is clear: they believe the title is returning to Manchester, and they are enjoying every drop of the drama along the way.

Arsenal haven’t won the league for 22 years, and it seems clear now that there are real nerves setting in in Arteta’s squad.

It’s not easy to get over the line when you haven’t done it for such a long time, whereas this City team and their manager Pep Guardiola are serial winners.

It was a pretty comfortable win for them at Stamford Bridge today, which is in stark contrast to how Arsenal have played in recent games.

City fans are clearly enjoying the moment – but do you think they’re really going to overtake Arsenal again? Let us know in the comments!

Leeds United enquire about signing Brighton star

Leeds United have reportedly been among the clubs to enquire about the situation of Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth ahead of the summer.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan from Brighton at Championship leaders Coventry City, and he’s done well there as Frank Lampard’s side close in on promotion to the Premier League.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

It remains to be seen what this will mean for Rushworth’s future, with Coventry surely eager to keep him once they go up, but it seems Leeds have asked about a potential deal, according to TEAMtalk.

Leeds could do with a new goalkeeper, and Rushworth looks like a player with a big future at this level, though it could also depend on what happens with Brighton’s current number one Bart Verbruggen this summer.

Could Carl Rushworth get a chance at Brighton?

Rushworth has never actually played a single competitive minute for Brighton, and is now in his sixth loan spell away from the Seagulls.

However, Verbruggen’s future looks to be in some doubt after his impressive form, so it may be that manager Fabian Hurzeler soon needs to bring in a replacement.

Rushworth could be ideal, so perhaps there’ll finally be that role there for him once his loan with Coventry comes to an end this summer.

A recent report from talkSPORT claimed Tottenham were keen on Verbruggen, so that could be one to watch in the weeks and months ahead.

Still, if Brighton manage to keep hold of Verbruggen then that surely shuts out Rushworth again, and could potentially pave the way for Leeds or someone else to snap him up.

Bayern Munich plan stunning bid to sign Newcastle United duo

Bayern Munich are looking closely at two Newcastle United players this summer in the form of Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade.

We reported on Bayern’s Gordon transfer interest yesterday, though the England international is also wanted by Arsenal and other top clubs.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Meanwhile, it’s understood that Woltemade remains a player on Bayern’s list after they notably missed out on signing him last summer when he instead moved from Stuttgart to Newcastle.

The Germany international started brightly for the Magpies earlier this season, but his form has tailed off a bit, leading to growing talk that he could move back to the Bundesliga.

Bayern will likely be one of his main suitors, and it will be interesting to see if that could lead to a double raid on NUFC for Gordon as well.

Difficult summer ahead for Newcastle

It was a difficult summer for Newcastle last year as Alexander Isak left for Liverpool, and we’re seeing plenty of similar transfer rumours at the moment.

Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are also attracting interest from Europe’s elite, so that could be a worry for Eddie Howe and co.

Gordon is also likely to be tricky to keep hold of, but at the same time it’s hard to imagine Newcastle would sell all three of those star names.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Bayern’s long-running interest in Woltemade could also be useful as that would likely be a fairly big sale that would mean less pressure to cash in on those other big names.

Bayern surely don’t need Anthony Gordon

It’s also worth noting that Bayern don’t really need someone like Gordon as a priority this summer as they already have so much quality in attack.

Michael Olise is having the season of his life, while Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, and Serge Gnabry are also all playing some fantastic football.

Gordon might want to leave Newcastle to challenge himself at a higher level, but there’s also surely little sense in him moving to somewhere like Bayern if he’s only going to warm the bench.

The former Everton youngster would surely get more of a key role at a club like Arsenal, with the Gunners in desperate need of an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Perspective: 5 reasons Mikel Arteta sack would be a huge mistake for Arsenal

Nine points clear at the top of the table with six games left and Arsenal fans are booing their team off the pitch at the Emirates Stadium – of course there’s more context to it than that, but it’s a useful reminder that the Gunners mustn’t overreact.

There will inevitably be talk of Mikel Arteta’s future as Arsenal manager now. Since everyone has more or less already decided that the club are going to bottle it and finish trophyless again, it stands to reason that the next question is over the manager and if his project has ran out of steam.

Except, the season isn’t over yet, so let’s pause, take a breath, and take a moment to look a little closer at Arsenal’s situation.

Gooners are sure they have been through this exact scenario before, but every season is different, and even if finishing second three years in a row can start to feel rather similar, there was only one ‘bottling’ in that three-year run, and even then it was arguably only a serious William Saliba injury that saw Manchester City’s treble winners overtake them.

Is the Arteta sack talk justified? Here’s five reasons we think Arsenal need to stick with him…

Title still in Arsenal’s hands

So, to start by stating the obvious, Arsenal’s season isn’t over yet. Far from it. We’ll get to the Champions League in a moment, but firstly let’s remember that the title is still in their hands.

Manchester City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later today – in just a few hours’ time they may well have dropped more points to keep Arsenal’s lead intact.

It’s also far from a given that Man City beat Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side desperately need the three points in that one, but have only won one in their last seven games against the north Londoners, having drawn their last two meetings against them at the Etihad.

After that, it’s unpredictable – we’ve seen both of these sides drop points in games you’d have expected them to win this season, so anyone backing City to go on one of their lengthy winning runs of old probably hasn’t seen them play much this term.

Bournemouth a tougher fixture than it looks

It’s easy to forget just how tough Arsenal’s schedule has been this season, in what is generally considered to be one of the most competitive Premier Leagues we’ve had.

So, when Bournemouth went into yesterday’s game having had 22 days of rest since their last game, while Arsenal were playing their third in a week, is anyone that surprised that Arteta’s men looked comparatively slower and less sharp?

Of course there can’t be too many excuses in a title race, you’ve simply got to win games like this, but slip-ups also happen even to the best teams, and this was an underrated mid-table side who have played good football all season long, and who will likely pick up more points against the big teams before the campaign is done.

Meanwhile, their manager Andoni Iraola is becoming widely recognised as one of the top coaches in the game, and there’s every chance he’ll be in the frame for jobs like Manchester United and Liverpool if they decide to change manager this summer. Perhaps he’ll even be leading Man City’s next title challenge if Pep decides to call it a day.

? Is it time for Arsenal to sack Mikel Arteta?

— CaughtOffside (@caughtoffside) April 12, 2026

Injuries

This has been a theme for Arsenal all season, and while everyone might be sick of hearing about it, it doesn’t make it not an issue.

Yesterday against Bournemouth, Arsenal lined up without: Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, and Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie were only fit enough to start on the bench.

Arteta has had some critics for over-using certain players and not rotating enough, and that may well have led to the dip in form of someone like Martin Zubimendi, but most players at top clubs will be well aware that they’re expected to perform at the very highest level every few days. This simply hasn’t been the case for Odegaard and Calafiori in particular, and there are a few other members of this squad who are clearly injury-prone in a way that makes it impossible to just pin the blame onto the manager.

Champions League semi-final appearance likely

Arsenal won 1-0 away to Sporting Lisbon just a matter of days ago, becoming the first team to win at the Portuguese giants’ stadium since August. They were the better team for the most part, and it has to go down as an excellent result.

Barring a disaster in the second leg, Arsenal are now surely though to the Champions League semi–finals for a second season in a row. For those getting misty-eyed about the Arsene Wenger era and all the pretty football those teams played, it’s worth remembering that this is a club that has NEVER made consecutive Champions League semi-final appearances, and that will have made precisely HALF of their appearances at this stage of the competition under Arteta.

No guaranteed upgrade

Hiring a manager is difficult, so if you’re going to sack one of the best in Europe you’d better be sure you’re getting an upgrade.

Who is there? Guardiola isn’t joining and almost certainly never will. Jurgen Klopp has basically retired, and won’t manage another Premier League club anyway. Thomas Tuchel only recently signed a new contract with England so is surely there for the next few years unless the World Cup goes far worse than expected. Carlo Ancelotti is probably going to retire after his stint with Brazil.

So in the absence of a proven winner out there, you’re gambling on someone like Enzo Maresca or Ruben Amorim, or if you’re lucky you might get yourself an Arne Slot, though you’ll probably then have to think about replacing him again after just a couple of years.

Sacking Arteta sounds like the plain and obvious solution until you actually give it the slightest bit of thought. He’s going nowhere unless he decides he’s had enough, and then he has his pick of every top job out there, you just wait and see.

Sources: Liverpool & Chelsea have “very concrete interest” in potential £60m attacker transfer

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs preparing to make a move for one of the most exciting young talents in Europe this summer.

After netting his 10th league goal of the season in yesterday’s surprise win at Arsenal, Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi is hot property on the transfer market, as first reported here for the Daily Briefing.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

The 19-year-old Frenchman has been a big hit since joining the Cherries last summer, and he’ll surely be their next big sale after they previously cashed in on the likes of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo.

I’d heard murmurings about Kroupi before yesterday, but you’d be amazed what big performances in important games can do for a player’s value. I can assure you it’s not just a cliché that selling clubs put a lot of emphasis on World Cups, to take an example that will be highly relevant this summer, in determining how much they can realistically make from a sale. Equally, buying clubs are, in fairness, likely to be even happier to pay once they’ve seen their targets impress in the matches that matter.

Eli Junior Kroupi to Liverpool or Chelsea?

So, after doing a bit of digging after yesterday’s game, I was not too surprised to find growing interest in Kroupi, who has long been on the radar of top clubs, but who is now likely to be a priority target.

“Liverpool and Chelsea have a very concrete interest, they’re both really keen to make a deal happen this summer and are looking into it,” one source said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool have already had some conversations,” another source told me. “Richard Hughes has a good relationship with his former club and will be on the phone to his counterparts there after that performance yesterday.”

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Kroupi was superb against Arsenal, scoring the opening goal, and completing 12 of his 13 passes, whilst also working hard out of possession in a game that Bournemouth generally deserved to win.

Chelsea are also continuing to look for the best young players in the world and Kroupi is, I’m told, very high up on their list for this summer. The Blues need more in attack after Liam Delap’s poor form and a dip from the likes of Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto.

Eli Junior Kroupi transfer price revealed

Bournemouth notably sold Huijsen to Real Madrid last summer and they’ll probably hope again to avoid losing a key player like Kroupi to a Premier League rival.

One avenue for them could be Paris Saint-Germain, according to my sources, but their interest is not yet as concrete as that of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Expect other names to come up soon as well, with sources indicating Bournemouth could let Kroupi go for just £55-60m.

That’s a potential bargain for a player so young who’s already shown so much quality at the highest level, so it’s not the kind of opportunity that the likes of Arsenal and the Manchester clubs are likely to ignore, even if I’m not aware of them actively exploring him for the moment.

Mark my words, though, there’ll be more on Kroupi in the weeks ahead, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any info as I get it!

We reported just days ago on Senesi being a target for Chelsea and Spurs, while we were also given Liverpool as a name by our sources.

However, with the Reds now understood to be closing in on a new contract for Ibrahima Konate, it appears that they’re no longer in the running, if Matteo Moretto’s post on X is anything to go by.

See below as Moretto, who has worked with Fabrizio Romano, says Senesi now looks to be closest to Man Utd, Chelsea, and Spurs, with no mention of Liverpool…

“Marcos Senesi is about to choose his next team. His agents are in close contact with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United. The rest of the teams are much further away,” Moretto said.

Senesi has shone at Bournemouth and will be available as a free agent this summer, so these top clubs queuing up for him is hardly a surprise.

What next for Marcos Senesi?

Senesi has proven himself at Premier League level and should be a valuable addition to a top club this summer, even if he’s perhaps only going to be a relatively short-term option.

The 28-year-old has probably already peaked, but he could still be a useful squad player for the next two or three years at least.

Chelsea would surely benefit from having someone more experienced in their squad, while United could probably also do with a bit more depth after so many injuries to the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt.

It seems a decision is close and it’s becoming clearer which clubs are emerging as the favourites.

“For sure…” – Decision to be made soon as Fabrizio Romano provides major Arsenal update

Fabrizio Romano has an Arsenal transfer news update regarding the future of exciting young attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.

The talented 19-year-old is currently on loan at Marseille after a lack of playing time at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season, and it seems his future could be assessed this summer.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano made it clear that Arsenal had not made a final decision on Nwaneri yet, nor had they communicated with him or his representatives about any kind of intention to let him go.

This is despite a big story from BBC Sport earlier in the week which suggested Arsenal were ready to cash in on Nwaneri and fellow home-grown star Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer.

Arsenal yet to make Ethan Nwaneri transfer decision, says Fabrizio Romano

Discussing the Nwaneri situation, Romano revealed that Borussia Dortmund remain interested in the England Under-21 international.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in Nwaneri before, but Romano suggested Dortmund could be one to watch for him again this summer.

“Dortmund wanted (Nwaneri) on a permanent transfer from Arsenal already one year ago, when Arsenal were negotiating a new contract with Nwaneri,” Romano said.

“At the end they were successful in reaching an agreement. There were Chelsea very interested and Borussia Dortmund – these two clubs. So interest especially from Borussia Dortmund remains very strong in Nwaneri. There are several clubs around Europe attentive to the situation.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

“At the moment Arsenal have not communicated anything to the player. So they didn’t tell the player and his camp ‘okay you can leave in the summer’. So that’s not the case at the moment. It’s still not decided.

“At the end of the season Arsenal will assess the situation with Nwaneri. Not today. It’s still not clear but from Dortmund they are still hoping to do one of their typical deals … signing these top players, top talents and then eventually sell them in the future.

“So Nwaneri is for sure still on the short list of Dortmund but still nothing decided by Arsenal. So that remains a situation.”

Should Arsenal keep Ethan Nwaneri?

Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly both looked outstanding for Arsenal when they got an unexpectedly high amount of opportunities in the first-team last season.

For one reason or another, they’re now out of favour, but Nwaneri in particular looks like he’s surely worth giving more chances to.

Capable of playing a variety of roles, Nwaneri could either be an upgrade on the injury-prone and out-of-form Martin Odegaard, or an alternative to inconsistent duo Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke on the right-hand side.

At the same time, however, in this era of Financial Fair Play regulations, it’s important for clubs to be able to raise pure profit where possible, which means more of an emphasis on selling academy players.

A lot of fans probably won’t like it, but that could mean that Arsenal have a big decision to make on Nwaneri this summer, with interest clearly there.

Star “really tempted” by CL football with Man United despite other suitors, says Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United reportedly look to have given themselves a massive boost with regards to keeping Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford.

Although the Portugal international has ongoing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, it seems that Man Utd improving their Champions League qualification hopes has made a big difference.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano on his latest YouTube post, with the transfer expert explaining that Fernandes is really tempted to stay and play in the Champions League with the Red Devils.

It seems there are talks planned for after the end of the season over Fernandes’ future, so the club’s fans will certainly hope that this is finally heading in a more positive direction.

Fabrizio Romano on Bruno Fernandes’ future

“What I can tell you is that over the recent weeks, the prospect of playing Champions League football again at Manchester United is really, really making an impact on Bruno Fernandes,” Romano said.

“At the moment, what I can tell you guys is that from Saudi, they still want Bruno as they always wanted Bruno three years ago, two years ago, one year ago.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

“So, they remain interested. But Bruno is really tempted by playing Champions League football with Man United. So Man United are optimistic on keeping Bruno Fernandes for next season.

“Let’s see how the conversations will continue. Let’s see what’s going to happen. But Man United are optimistic. Then is going to be a conversation between Bruno and Man United at the end of the season.

“So we will follow the situation. But for sure United hope they can keep Bruno and they are going to try to keep Bruno Fernandes.”

Bruno Fernandes transfer summary

Fernandes will have just a year left on his contract with United this summer, meaning we can’t be entirely sure how this saga will play out.

However, Romano’s words will be encouraging for MUFC supporters, as one of the most reliable journalists in the industry seems to be strongly suggesting that both the club and the player are keen to continue together.

We’ve recently been informed about Fernandes having interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, so that could still influence things.

The 31-year-old may well want to play in the Champions League with United, but a move to one of those clubs would surely give him a far better chance of actually winning the competition, as well as other major titles, the likes of which have eluded him during his time in Manchester.

A warning from Liverpool

United might do well to look at how rivals Liverpool were blindsided by Mohamed Salah’s sudden drop-off in form this season.

Another ageing Premier League star, Salah’s world class form last season earned him a new contract, but fast forward one year later and he’s struggled to show anything close to his best form, and is now leaving.

Fernandes might be able to avoid that kind of fate, but it’s always a risk handing out deals to players who might suddenly find they’re heading into an irreversible decline.

The post Star “really tempted” by CL football with Man United despite other suitors, says Fabrizio Romano appeared first on CaughtOffside.

How World Cup could help Man United overtake Man City in Elliot Anderson transfer race

Manchester United could reportedly use the 2026 World Cup to their advantage in this summer’s race to sign Nottingham Forest central midfielder Elliot Anderson.

The Red Devils surely won’t find it easy to land Anderson after his world class form in the Premier League this season, but it seems they’re not giving up.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

And Man Utd seemingly also feel they have one secret weapon up their sleeves in the form of Harry Maguire, according to the Sun.

Anderson has been linked with both United and City for a while now, but it seems the World Cup could allow Maguire an opportunity to talk the 23-year-old into a move to Old Trafford.

Nottingham Forest want bidding war for Elliot Anderson

It’s also in Forest’s interest for this saga to drag on a little bit, as they’ll want big money from Anderson’s sale.

The England international will therefore probably be allowed the time to go to the World Cup and impress, with some strong performances on the biggest stage only likely to add to his market value.

That will then allow United the time to use an experienced figure like Maguire to work his magic on Anderson during their time together with the England squad.

As noted by TEAMtalk, it seems MUFC feel this is a strategy that has worked well for them before, as they signed big-name England stars like Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney after major international tournaments.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are other players United could deploy to try to lure Anderson to the club, but of course City will also surely have some players in Thomas Tuchel’s squad that could influence the player’s decision.

Can Man City stars convince Elliot Anderson?

John Stones and Nico O’Reilly will probably be in the England squad at this summer’s World Cup, so they could also get a word in Anderson’s ear.

Meanwhile, it’s surely also the case that if other clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea want to get involved, they could also use players like Declan Rice and Reece James, respectively, to try to talk Anderson round.

All in all, this saga doesn’t seem like one that’s going to be resolved any time soon, so we can expect more stories like this in the weeks and months ahead as different teams try to edge each other out in the race for this fantastic talent.

Talks held: Arsenal & Liverpool involved in race to sign versatile 26-year-old

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs to have been approached over the potential transfer of Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza.

The 26-year-old is due to be out of contract this summer and it seems he has a long list of admirers from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been sounded out by intermediaries, and it seems they are interested in a potential deal, while Manchester City, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Everton could also be in the mix, according to TEAMtalk.

With so many clubs involved, it’s hard to know for sure where Mingueza could be most likely to move to next, but the report suggests that Arsenal and Man City seem particularly keen on the Spain international.

Oscar Mingueza looks like a low-risk transfer to add quality and depth

Given that Mingueza is set to be available on a free this summer, there’s little risk in offering him a deal.

This is a player still in his prime years, with quality and experience and the ability to fill in in a variety of defensive positions, and even in midfield.

With Arsenal suffering so many injuries this season, it’s easy to see why a player of this profile would appeal to Mikel Arteta, so see below for how we scored this potential signing for the Gunners…

Talks ongoing for months as Arsenal look to snap up €70m Chelsea target

AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Akliouche has been linked with a move away from the French outfit at the end of the season.

According to a report from MediaFoot, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in securing his signature. The report claims that Arsenal are more interested than ever in signing a 24-year-old attacker, and he could cost around €60-€70 million. The London club has been in constant contact with the players’ representatives for months.

However, they will face competition from rivals Chelsea. The Blues have now joined the race for his signature, and they are hoping to convince the 24-year-old to join the club.

Akliouche is also a target for Manchester United and Liverpool. Meanwhile, Spurs wanted to sign Akliouche in January.

Arsenal and Chelsea need Maghnes Akliouche

Both clubs need more quality on the flanks, and Akliouche could be an excellent long-term investment. He is exceptional at taking on defenders and beating them in one-versus-one situations. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and add unpredictability in the final third.

There is no doubt that he needs to improve his end product if he wants to play for elite clubs, but he is still a young player with a lot of room for improvement. Working with top-quality players at Arsenal or Chelsea could help him improve further. Akliouche has 7 goals and 8 assists this season.

Akliouche would be a future asset

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal or Chelsea is prepared to pay the asking price for him. €60-€70 million is a steep price to pay for the young attacker, but he has the ability to justify the investment in future.

The opportunity to move to England will be exciting for him. This is the right time for him to take the next step in his career and embark on a fresh challenge.

He could be the ideal replacement for Son Heung-min. Tottenham have missed a dynamic attacker like the South Korean since his departure.

The opportunity to join Tottenham will be exciting for the 26-year-old. However, it would require an “unstoppable” offer for Celtic to sell him. According to a report from SportsBoom, the Scottish club is preparing for a “record sale”.

Tottenham have strong interest in 23-year-old who feels De Zerbi is a “brilliant manager”

It is no secret that Tottenham need to sign a quality goalkeeper in the summer, and they have identified Bart Verbruggen as a target.

The 23-year-old Netherlands International has been outstanding since joining Brighton, and Verbruggen could prove to be an excellent addition for Tottenham. However, clubs like Bayern Munich are also interested in the player.

It is fair to assume that the Dutch goalkeeper will be attracted to the idea of joining the German champions if they are serious about him. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince the player to join them instead.

Bart Verbruggen to reunite with De Zerbi?

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham hold a strong interest in the player, and their admiration for the goalkeeper has only intensified after the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi. Guglielmo Vicario has been inconsistent since joining the London club, and he has been linked with a return to Italy. Antonin Kinsky put on a disappointing performance against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, and chances have been hard to come by for him. Tottenham cannot rely on him to be the first-choice goalkeeper next season. They need a more reliable option, and the Netherlands international would be ideal.

At 23, he is entering the peak years of his career, and this is the right time for him to take on a new challenge and join a bigger club. Tottenham could provide him with the platform to compete in Europe in future and fight for trophies. Verbruggen has also been linked with Chelsea.

Tottenham are looking to bring him to the Premier League and are preparing a £25 million offer in order to get the deal done, according to FussballDaten. Marseille have an option to sign the player at the end of the season, but they are unlikely to exercise it due to financial constraints.

The Belgian midfielder will return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season. However, it does not seem like he’s a key player for them, and the German club is open to sanctioning his departure for the right price. The offer from Tottenham will be difficult for them to turn down.

It remains to be seen whether all parties can come to an agreement.

Vermeeren will be keen to reunite with his former manager, and he could be an important player for Tottenham next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have secured a verbal agreement with Liverpool defender, and he will join them on a free transfer if they secure Premier League safety. They are currently fighting the relegation battle, and they are 18th in the league table. The Scottish International will not join them if they are relegated in the summer.

It seems that Robertson could be the first signing for Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. They could use more quality and depth in the defensive unit. Adding an experienced player like him would be a wise decision. Signing someone like him for free could prove to be a masterstroke. He would not only help them improve defensively, but his leadership qualities and winning experience would also help them improve on and off the pitch.

They need to keep improving the team in order to compete with Arsenal and Manchester City. Adding someone like Rogers could make a big difference in the final third. He has shown he can consistently score goals and create opportunities for his teammates. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get the deal done.

£75m rival player emerges as Chelsea’s top target to replace Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez has been consistently linked with a move away from Chelsea at the end of the season.

Naturally, they are now looking at potential alternatives to the Argentine International. Fernandez has been exceptional for Chelsea since joining the club, with 18 goal contributions this season. Replacing him will not be easy. According to reports from Spain, Chelsea are now interested in the West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Fernandes has also been linked with Manchester United.

Mateus Fernandes has been outstanding

The 21-year-old has been outstanding for the London club and has impressed with his tenacious style of play. The Portuguese midfielder has the technical attributes to succeed at a higher level and could be an outstanding addition to Chelsea.

However, he has a different skill set from that of Fernandez. While the Chelsea midfielder adds more control, creativity, and goals, Fernandes will bring physicality, defensive cover, and composure in the middle of the park. He could form a solid partnership with Moises Caicedo. Fernandes and Caicedo in the middle of the park will certainly help Chelsea tighten up defensively.

They have been poor at the back, and the arrival of the 21-year-old midfielder could help them improve on that front. Chelsea have let in 38 goals in 31 league matches this season.

However, they will need to replace the creativity and goals of Fernandez if they decide to let him leave. The Chelsea midfielder has been heavily linked with Real Madrid in recent months. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Man United could use Castello Lukeba

It is no secret that Manchester United needs to tighten up at the back. They need a quality long-term replacement for Harry Maguire. Matthijs de Ligt has also struggled with injury problems. More depth in the defensive department would be ideal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are closely monitoring the French defender as well. It will be interesting to see if the London club decides to make a move for him in the summer. They are already well-stocked in the defensive unit, and they might not be able to accommodate him in the starting lineup.

Lukeba should join Man United

On the other hand, he would be a regular starter for Manchester United. The 23-year-old will want to compete at a high level, and he will look to join a club where he can play regularly. Sitting on the bench at Arsenal will not benefit him. It would make sense for him to join Manchester United instead.

Manchester United have shown significant improvement in recent months and are currently third in the league table. They will be hoping to launch a title challenge next season, and they need quality players. Lukeba could be an excellent addition for them. The defender has the physicality to succeed in English football, and he could make an immediate impact.

Darwin Nunez needs a move

Nunez has struggled for regular opportunities at Al Hilal, and he has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Karim Benzema. He needs to leave the club to play more often, and a return to the Premier League would be ideal for the player as well.

The former Liverpool striker has nine goals and five assists to his name in all competitions, and there is no doubt that he would be a very useful acquisition for Newcastle. He has shown his quality in the Premier League with Liverpool, helping them win the title last season. Apart from his ability to find the back of the net and create opportunities, he is a hard-working player who will help out defensively. In addition, he is a versatile player who can operate anywhere across the front three.

Chelsea submit blockbuster €100m offer to land 28-G/A target in summer

Chelsea remains interested in signing Fermin Lopez from Barcelona at the end of the season.

According to reports from Spain, Chelsea are now back in the hunt for the 22-year-old Barcelona midfielder, and they have put forward an offer of a €100 million in order to get the deal done. However, Barcelona are not keen on selling the midfielder any time soon. They believe that he is a key member of the team, and they have no intention of negotiating his departure.

Chelsea have been linked with the player for quite some time, and the offer suggests that they are determined to get the deal done. The report claims that they have identified the Barcelona player as a priority signing. It remains to be seen whether they decide to revise their offer and come back with a more lucrative proposal.

Lopez is unlikely to force an exit from Barcelona. He is enjoying his football with his boyhood club, and he has no reason to leave them. Barcelona are fighting for major trophies, whereas Chelsea is in the midst of a rebuilding period. It will be difficult for the Premier League club to convince the player.

That said, it is no surprise that they are keen on Lopez. They need more creativity, technical ability, and control in the middle of the park, and Lopez will help create opportunities for his teammates and add more technical ability to the team.

The 22-year-old playmaker is in spectacular form this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions. He has picked up 16 assists along the way as well. There is no doubt that he could transform the attack if he joined the club.

Man United draw up attacking shortlist featuring Bundesliga and Premier League attacker

Manchester United are reportedly intensifying their preparations for the summer transfer window, with attacking reinforcements high on the club’s priority list.

According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils have identified Yan Diomande and Iliman Ndiaye as key targets as they look to strengthen their options in wide areas and add greater attacking depth ahead of next season.

With United aiming to rebuild momentum and improve their offensive output, the recruitment team is believed to be evaluating a mix of emerging talents and proven performers.

Yan Diomande’s rapid rise in Germany

The young attacker has made a strong impression this season, registering 10 league goals in 27 appearances, an impressive tally for a player still in the early stages of his professional career.

Bundesliga observers have praised his pace, direct dribbling style, and ability to operate effectively in one-on-one situations, qualities that are particularly valuable in modern attacking systems.

Leipzig’s reputation as a development-focused club has allowed Diomande to flourish, but his long-term contract, which runs until 2030, could make negotiations challenging.

Ndiaye offers Premier League experience to Man United

Alongside Diomande, Man United are also believed to be considering Ndiaye, currently at Everton.

The Senegal international has delivered consistent performances in the Premier League, contributing six goals and three assists during the ongoing campaign.

Unlike Diomande, Ndiaye represents a more established option within English football.

His familiarity with the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League could make him an appealing choice for United, particularly if the club seeks immediate impact rather than long-term development alone.

Everton may face pressure to sell players if financial considerations arise, which could make Ndiaye a realistic transfer option should United pursue formal negotiations.

United are aiming to build a balanced forward line capable of producing consistent goals and assists across the season. Strengthening the left flank appears to be a particular focus.

United’s recruitment decisions will play a crucial role in determining their competitiveness next season. If executed successfully, these moves could elevate the team’s performanes to a new level.

‘Moving to the final stages’ – Liverpool edge closer to reach agreement with 26-year-old

According to renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are close to reaching an agreement with Ibrahima Konate over a new contract.

The 26-year-old’s current deal at Anfield is set to expire at the end of the current season, a precarious situation that had left the club highly vulnerable to a free transfer exit.

For months, speculation had been rampant that Konate might seek a new challenge, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan all credited with a strong interest in acquiring his services for zero transfer fee.

However, Romano has provided the latest update on the transfer saga, revealing that despite genuine, long-standing interest from the Spanish capital, Liverpool’s boardroom has successfully regained control of the situation.

Liverpool get close to Ibrahima Konate deal

While the Italian journalist warned that the deal is not signed or completed yet, the fundamental salary framework is understood to be almost entirely agreed upon.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Romano said:

“After long negotiations, after many months spent in contact, what I can tell you today is that these negotiations between Liverpool management and Ibrahima Konate, the player and his camp, are moving to the final stages.

“The salary is almost agreed, the length of the contract is being discussed. So that’s the point, the number of years. There are some clauses to clarify, but Konate and Liverpool are almost there in negotiations over new contract.

“Again, let’s wait for these final stages. Let’s be careful until the end. But despite many reports saying that Real Madrid were back in talks to sign Ibrahima Konate in the summer, despite reports saying that Ibrahima Konate wanted to go elsewhere, at the moment, the club absolutely leading the race to have Ibrahima Konate and his services for next season is again Liverpool.”

Keeping Konate is crucial for the Merseyside club

Retaining Konate shows a massive victory for Liverpool’s sporting directors.

The club is already bracing for a significant changing of the guard this summer, veteran left-back Andy Robertson has publicly confirmed his impending exit, and talisman Mohamed Salah is also going to depart Anfield in June.

In this context, Konate’s renewal provides essential defensive stability and leadership.

As Arne Slot battles to salvage the remainder of Liverpool’s domestic and European campaign amidst intense media scrutiny, securing Konate’s prime footballing years offers a critical foundational block for the club’s next era.

If the Reds can swiftly cross the finish line on this deal, they will have successfully navigated one of their most crucial impending contract crises.

‘I can’t see him staying’ – Expert claims Chelsea star could complete shock exit in summer

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons.

The World Cup winning midfielder made some comments about his intention to live in Madrid which did not go down well with the management at Chelsea and he was punished by the club for making those comments.

The former Benfica star has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and his comments upset people at Stamford Bridge.

Former scout Mick Brown has now claimed that the midfielder, who has been one of Chelsea’s most important players this season, could be heading out of the club in the summer transfer window.

With Real Madrid reportedly preparing a mammoth financial package to pry the 25-year-old World Cup winner away from West London, Chelsea’s hierarchy faces a monumental decision, whether to repair a fractured relationship or cash in on one of their most valuable assets.

Enzo Fernandez tipped to leave Chelsea in the summer

“Given everything that’s happened lately, I can’t see him staying,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Chelsea can’t afford to have a player like that disrupting things in the dressing room, because it can spread quickly with players becoming unhappy.

“So if Real Madrid do come in for him, they’ll be prepared to let him go.

“The deal will have to be on their terms, with a fee that works for them, because they’re not just going to let him leave for peanuts.

“It might take a huge fee for Chelsea, but that’s not going to be an issue, when Real Madrid want a player they usually get the deal done.

“He’s come out and publicly said he would move on, so it’s probably best for everybody if that happens.”

Despite rumours that the Argentine was preparing a formal transfer request, recent developments suggest an uneasy truce has been brokered.

According to the player’s agent, former Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore, Fernandez has formally apologised to his teammates, Rosenior, and the sporting directors.

Champions League football hold key to Fernandez’s future

Pastore insisted the comments were made without malice and confirmed that the two camps have “made peace” for the time being.

Consequently, Fernandez is expected to be reintegrated into the squad, retaining his status within the club’s leadership group as they desperately push to salvage their domestic campaign.

Pastore recently hinted that if Chelsea fails to secure a spot in Europe’s elite competition, Fernandez will seriously reconsider his options, as a player of his caliber demands to compete at the absolute highest level.

Given that Fernandez is under contract until 2032, Chelsea hold massive negotiating leverage and have reportedly slapped a staggering £130 million valuation on the midfielder.

‘I definitely hope that happens’ – Ex-Arsenal striker backed to become Man United manager

Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit has joined the conversation about the manager job at Manchester United.

The former legendary midfielder turned football pundit has surprisingly backed compatriot Robin Van Persie to become the manager of the Red Devils in the future.

At the moment, Michael Carrick is doing a wonderful job at Old Trafford, salvaging their season after the disastrous spell under Ruben Amorim.

However, Carrick is still not certain to get the job permanently, despite some reports stating that he is leading the race to become the next permanent Man United manager.

Ruud Gullit backs Van Persie for the Man United job

Gullit believes Van Persie could become the manager of the Premier League side in the future.

‘It would be great if Robin van Persie became the manager of Manchester United in the future,’ Gullit said, as per comments relayed by Metro.

‘I definitely hope that happens at some point!

‘Robin is a great manager, but he’s struggling a little bit at Feyenoord at the moment. I feel like the expectations for him are very high because of the career he had, so he’s under the spotlight a lot more than other managers in the Eredivisie.

‘He’s under fire over here in Holland at the moment, but I hope he’s given time to rectify it and prove how good he is.

‘Look what happened with Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United – they kept him, and look how good he ended up being!

‘Down the line however, I think it would be great for Robin to manage at Old Trafford one day.’

Red Devils have some big decisons to make

While the INEOS sporting directors continue their exhaustive vetting process, the endorsements for Van Persie from Gullit shows that the former Arsenal and Man United striker is making waves in the managerial circuit.

Yet, if Carrick maintains his phenomenal domestic resurgence, INEOS might not have a difficult decision to make regarding their next permanent manager.

Van Persie is still young as a manager and learning the trade but his fond memories of his time at Old Trafford and how much the fans adore him for his contributions in the 2013 Premier League winning campaign may turn into something substantial in the future regarding the Man United job in the future.

At the moment, the United job would be too big for him and they need someone experienced of cleaning the mess created in the last few years under Erik ten Hag and Amorim.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are all seriously considering a blockbuster move for Aston Villa’s dynamic forward, Morgan Rogers.

The 23-year-old England international has rapidly evolved into one of the Premier League’s most explosive attacking talents, setting the stage for a frantic, multi-club battle for his signature.

The Aston Villa star has scored ten goals this season for Unai Emery’s team, along with seven assists.

His form in the last two years has made him a regular in the England squad and he would most certainly be a part of the England squad at the World Cup.

Morgan Rogers has experienced a meteoric rise

Rogers’ career trajectory over the past two years has been nothing short of spectacular.

Since arriving at Villa Park from Championship side Middlesbrough in the winter window of 2024 for an initial £15 million, he has transformed into an undisputed cornerstone of Unai Emery’s high-flying squad.

It is easy to see why the continent’s elite recruitment departments are circling.

Rogers is highly versatile, capable of operating effectively as a traditional left-winger or drifting centrally to orchestrate play.

Man United, Arsenal and PSG are interested in Rogers

The Red Devils are desperately seeking to inject his exact brand of direct, powerful running into their ongoing squad rebuild.

For Arsenal, he represents premium, dynamic competition for their forward line as Mikel Arteta looks to continually refresh his attacking options.

Looking beyond England, PSG view the powerful forward as a prime candidate to bolster their attacking arsenal for another deep run in the UEFA Champions League.

Emery and the Aston Villa hierarchy face an agonizing summer dilemma. Retaining Rogers is absolutely essential for their long-term sporting ambitions, but the sheer financial muscle of Arsenal, Manchester United, and PSG may prove impossible to resist.

Aston Villa could demand as much as £100m for the 23-year-old versatile attacker.

Man United receive major boost to replace Luke Shaw thanks to Arsenal – opinion

Manchester United’s left-back curse is a tale as old as time.

With the 30-year-old Luke Shaw constantly battling the treatment table and the almost-forgotten Tyrell Malacia set to depart Old Trafford as a free agent this coming June, the Red Devils face an undeniable crisis on the left flank.

Enter Myles Lewis-Skelly. The 19-year-old Arsenal prodigy has found himself at a frustrating developmental crossroads at the Emirates, and United’s INEOS-led hierarchy must seize this rare opportunity to secure a true, long-term successor to Shaw’s throne

The situation at Arsenal for the young defender

It is no secret that Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a sensational breakout campaign in 2024/25, firmly establishing himself as one of English football’s brightest homegrown prospects.

However, the 2025/26 season has been an exercise in patience and frustration for the young left-back.

Falling victim to Mikel Arteta’s crowded, ultra-competitive defensive department, the teenager has been ruthlessly pushed down the pecking order behind established left-sided defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie.

Lewis-Skelly has been restricted to just 14 Premier League appearances this term, totaling a meager 323 minutes of top-flight action.

While he has managed 30 appearances and four assists across all competitions, boasting an impressive 90% passing completion rate in the Champions League, a player of his immense ceiling demands regular domestic starts.

Arsenal are genuinely open to listening to offers. Desperate to generate “pure profit” to ensure compliance with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the Gunners are reportedly aiming to recoup a combined £100 million from the sales of Lewis-Skelly and fellow Hale End graduate Ethan Nwaneri.

Competition Total Appearances Starts Sub Appearances Goals Assists Minutes Played
Premier League 14 2 12 0 1 323′
UEFA Champions League 8 4 4 0 2 415′
FA Cup 4 3 1 0 1 290′
EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) 4 4 0 0 0 315′
Total 30 13 17 0 4 1,343′

Lewis-Skelly’s numbers this season

Man United admire the Gunners left-back

Man United’s admiration for the teenager is well-documented.

The Red Devils have had him on their radar for quite some time, with recent reports confirming that United made a formal approach and placed him high on a four-man left-back shortlist.

Intermediaries have already sounded out the possibility, but United must now transition from passive admirers to aggressive bidders.

Like a prime Luke Shaw, Lewis-Skelly is exceptional at progressing the ball.

His deep-rooted background as a central midfielder allows him to invert seamlessly into the engine room, perfectly aligning with the tactical demands of a modern Premier League system.

Standing at 5’10” with excellent balance and elite dribbling mechanics, he possesses the physical robustness to handle the Premier League, coupled with the technical composure required to settle at Old Trafford.

At just 19, he offers a decade-long solution to a position that has haunted United’s squad builders for years.

Informal talks: Man City step up interest in midfielder wanted by Man United

Manchester City have initiated informal talks with Sporting CP regarding the potential signing of their 26-year-old captain Morten Hjulmand, according to A Bola.

However, the Premier League giants are far from alone in their pursuit.

The Danish international’s commanding performances have also attracted serious, long-standing interest from both Manchester United and Serie A giants Juventus, setting the stage for a fiercely contested three-way bidding war.

Man City hold advantage in the race to sign the midfielder

Man City’s proactive approach is heavily driven by a familiar face in the boardroom.

City’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, was the man responsible for originally bringing Hjulmand to Lisbon from Lecce in 2023, and he is reportedly eager to reunite with the midfielder at the Etihad Stadium.

From a tactical perspective, the move makes perfect sense for Pep Guardiola’s side.

As City evaluate the long-term structure of their engine room, bringing in a tactically intelligent, physically imposing player of Hjulmand’s caliber would provide crucial, top-tier cover for Rodri.

Financial details of the deal to sign Hjulmand

While Hjulmand’s current contract is protected by a staggering €80 million release clause, Sporting CP’s management is reportedly open to negotiating a more realistic compromise fee in the region of €40 million to €50 million (£34m-£42m).

This slightly lowered valuation keeps the door wide open for rival suitors.

Man United have tracked the 26-year-old extensively over the past year, having even lodged preliminary bids in previous windows and possess the undeniable financial muscle required to meet Sporting’s asking price as they look to continue their own midfield rebuild.

Meanwhile, Juventus remain desperate to bring the former Lecce man back to Italy to anchor their system.

However, the Turin club’s financial constraints mean they may struggle to match the Premier League’s spending power unless they first orchestrate major high-profile sales to balance the books.

Pole position: 44-year-old manager becomes leading contender for the Man United job

Interim head coach Michael Carrick has firmly positioned himself as the overwhelming favorite to secure the permanent managerial role at Old Trafford.

According to talkSPORT, the 44-year-old former England midfielder has transformed his temporary role into an undeniable audition, making it increasingly difficult for the club’s INEOS-led hierarchy to look elsewhere ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

When it looked like Man United season was heading nowhere under former manager Ruben Amorim, Carrick joined the club and gave them hope of achieving something.

Under his leadership, they are now third in the Premier League, in thr driving seat, along with Arsenal and Manchester City, to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Carrick has turned around the fortunes of Man United

When Carrick was unexpectedly handed the reins following the turbulent dismissal of Amorim in mid-January, he inherited a fractured dressing room and a heavily faltering domestic campaign.

Fast forward three months, the change on the pitch and the overall performances of the players is staggering.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Operating with a calm authority and implementing a balanced, traditional 4-2-3-1 system, Carrick has masterminded a sensational run of form, securing a remarkable 23 points from a possible 30.

Boasting seven wins, two draws, and just a single defeat across his 10 Premier League matches in charge, he has dramatically catapulted the Red Devils back into the Premier League elite.

Players are publicly praising the impact of Carrick

Crucially, key first-team figures have begun openly advocating for his permanent appointment.

In-form attackers like Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo have publicly praised his man-management skills in recent weeks, highlighting how his deep-rooted connection to the club’s underlying DNA has successfully unified the camp.

While high-profile external candidates such as Xabi Alonso have been heavily linked with the vacancy, Carrick’s seamless transition could give them edge when the club hierarchy decide to make a decision at the end of the season.

As the 2025/26 season enters its crucial final straight, the ultimate decision rests entirely in the hands of the INEOS sporting directors.

Man United and Arsenal approach rejected by Brazilian who wants Atletico move

Atalanta’s highly coveted Brazilian maestro, Ederson, has reportedly drawn a firm line in the sand regarding his immediate future.

Despite concrete interest and lucrative overtures from a host of Premier League heavyweights, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United, the 26-year-old has his heart firmly set on a move to the Spanish capital.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Ederson has formally rejected all English approaches, heavily favoring a transition to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Man United and Arsenal rejected by Brazilian midfielder

The intense English interest in Ederson is entirely justified given his exceptional, consistent development in Serie A over the past few seasons.

Arsenal had recently been heavily tipped to launch a late hijack attempt, viewing the Brazilian as the perfect engine-room reinforcement to support Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Meanwhile, Man United had explored creative avenues to secure his signature, reportedly considering offering out-of-favor striker Joshua Zirkzee in a potential player-plus-cash swap deal.

Newcastle United also viewed the 26-year-old as an ideal tactical fit for Eddie Howe’s high-intensity system. However, the financial muscle of the Premier League appears to have been outmatched by the tactical allure of La Liga.

Ederson wants dream move to Atletico Madrid

For Ederson, the dream is to play under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Known for his aggressive pressing, tackling tenacity, and relentless stamina, the Brazilian is tailor-made for the demanding, high-octane philosophy implemented at the Metropolitano Stadium.

However, while personal terms appear settled, finalizing the actual transfer fee remains a significant obstacle. Atalanta, notoriously shrewd negotiators, are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £44 million (€50m).

With Atletico’s initial proposals reportedly falling around the £33 million mark, there is still considerable work to be done in the boardroom to bridge the valuation gap.

While Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus are also monitoring the situation closely in hopes of doing a domestic hijack, Atletico Madrid undoubtedly sit in the driving seat.

Report: Chelsea could put midfielder up for sale if they fail to qualify for Champions League

The ongoing saga surrounding Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge has taken yet another dramatic twist.

According to a fresh report from Spanish outlet AS, the West London club could be forced to place their record-breaking Argentine midfielder on the transfer list this summer if they fail to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

With Real Madrid closely monitoring the situation, the frantic race for a top-four finish has suddenly evolved into a desperate battle to retain one of the club’s most valuable assets.

Chelsea could consider Fernandez sale due to finances

Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) could become the reason for Chelsea to consider the sale of one of their most important players at the club.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Missing out on the highly lucrative broadcasting revenue and prize money associated with Europe’s premier club competition would severely restrict Chelsea’s financial maneuverability.

To remain compliant and fund necessary squad reinforcements, the club’s hierarchy may have no alternative but to balance the books through high-profile departures.

Valued well in excess of £100 million, the 25-year-old World Cup winner is one of the few players in the squad capable of generating the massive capital required to offset a season outside the Champions League.

Furthermore, from a sporting perspective, a player of Fernandez’s caliber inevitably demands to be competing on Europe’s biggest stage.

Is the midfielder heading to Real Madrid in the summer?

The midfielder is currently navigating the fallout from a major internal controversy, having recently been dropped from the squad by Rosenior after publicly flirting with the idea of living in Madrid.

Although the player and his agent have since issued a formal apology to smooth over relations, the underlying tensions continue at the club.

Adding fuel to the fire, Fernandez’s camp recently confirmed that negotiations over an improved contract have entirely stalled due to disagreements over financial terms.

Real Madrid, notoriously in the market for a generational midfield maestro to dictate their tempo for the next decade, are perfectly positioned to capitalise on this growing fracture in West London.

Sources: Premier League attacker appealed by the idea of playing for Arteta at Arsenal

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is emerging as one of the standout names expected to dominate headlines during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The England international has enjoyed an impressive rise in recent seasons, establishing himself as one of Newcastle’s most dynamic attacking threats.

Now, with growing interest from both Premier League rivals and European heavyweights, speculation surrounding his future is intensifying.

Bayern Munich have already initiated contact with Gordon’s representatives, signaling that interest in the 25-year-old is no longer confined to England, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

With Newcastle facing financial pressures and the possibility of needing to balance their books, Gordon’s situation could evolve rapidly, especially if substantial offers begin to arrive.

European interest signals Gordon’s rising reputation

Bayern Munich’s involvement highlights how highly Gordon is regarded beyond the Premier League.

The Bundesliga champions have a strong history of recruiting explosive wide attackers.

Some observers have linked Gordon’s openness to a potential move abroad to the success of players like Michael Olise, who have thrived after stepping into new environments.

The opportunity to compete regularly in Europe’s elite competitions, particularly the UEFA Champions League, is believed to be an important factor for players entering the peak years of their careers.

The England international has scored 17 goals for the Magpies this season in all competitions.

His versatility across the front line, combined with his relentless pressing and defensive commitment, fits the profile of modern wide forwards valued by elite clubs.

Arsenal hold strong interest in the Newcastle star

Interest from Arsenal has been particularly strong, with the North London club conducting extensive scouting assessments of Gordon’s performances.

Sources suggest that the possibility of working under Mikel Arteta could appeal to the player, given Arsenal’s structured tactical system and recent success in developing attacking talent.

Liverpool have also been closely linked with the winger. Their interest aligns with the club’s ongoing search for dynamic wide players capable of contributing both offensively and defensively.

Gordon’s energy and pressing intensity mirror the characteristics Liverpool traditionally value in attacking players.

Initially, Newcastle maintained a firm stance that Gordon was not available for transfer. However, that position may become more flexible if bids approach the levels currently being discussed in the media.

With Gordon’s market value estimated around €60 million, Newcastle are reportedly seeking a significantly higher figure, potentially in the range of €90-100 million.

Tottenham player once linked with January move could become crucial under De Zerbi after manager’s revelation – opinion

Tottenham forward Mathys Tel is set for a dramatic career revival under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, just months after the young Frenchman was linked with a January exit.

The 20-year-old, who joined Spurs permanently from Bayern Munich for £30 million last summer, has endured a nightmare season.

Despite being a fan favorite, Tel was controversially omitted from the club’s Champions League squad for the majority of the league phase and saw his minutes severely limited under Frank’s pragmatic regime.

This resulted in speculations regarding a January exit, with Tel threatening to leave mid-season.

De Zerbi: “I wanted Tel at Marseille”

Speaking in his first press conference since succeeding Igor Tudor, Roberto De Zerbi made it clear that Tel is a central part of his plans to drag Tottenham out of the relegation zone.

The Italian revealed a long-standing admiration for the forward, disclosing that he had previously tried to sign him during his tenure at Marseille.

“I think we have a lot of very good attackers and we have to help them,” De Zerbi told reporters. “Like I know Mathys Tel, I wanted him in Marseille when I was there.

“Xavi Simons is a big talent, Richarlison and Solanke you maybe know better than me, but we have to put them in the best condition we can.”

Tel was unhappy under Thomas Frank

With 3 goals in 24 Premier League appearances this term, Tel has struggled for rhythm, but remains a rare bright spark for a side currently sitting in 18th place.

The manager’s comments provide closure to a turbulent period for Tel, who recently made the stunning claim that Thomas Frank “didn’t like him.”

Speaking in March, Tel admitted he “disagreed with Thomas on my role within the team” and felt “confused” by his constant exclusion.

He said (via ESPN UK): “I disagreed with Thomas on my role within the team, and he didn’t like me for it. He didn’t look to try and fix things.

“I was confused why I was on the bench a lot, I felt I could help the team more than I was.”

Klopp lifts lid on incredible Salah training secret that made him a Liverpool goal machine

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has pulled back the curtain on the obsessive training habits that transformed Mohamed Salah into one of the greatest finishers in football history, revealing a secret backyard project that changed everything.

Speaking to Peter Crouch on a recent podcast following the Liverpool Legends match at Anfield, Klopp admitted that he has never seen a player with the same character and relentless desire as the Egyptian King, who is set to depart the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Klopp on how Mo Salah improved his finishing

Klopp revealed that Salah’s clinical nature in front of goal wasn’t just raw talent, but the result of a tireless work ethic sparked by his own dissatisfaction during his time in Italy.

“He started scoring because he was not happy with his finishing in Rome, so he built a goal in the backyard. I am sure a lot of people built a goal in the garden and tried to improve.

“He did that seven hours a day in my imagination. Every summer he came back from a summer break and had a new skill, a new idea.”

Klopp highlighted how this constant evolution allowed Salah to remain at the top even as his role changed.

“Remember last season when we became champions, how many goals he set up, the way he set it up, cutting inside when he usually shoots, Cody Gakpo or whoever arriving, we had these situations, but he took it perfection.

“He always came with something new, he never stopped and he will not stop. He is 33 and he has another five or six years, 100%.”

What West Ham’s 4-0 win over Wolves means for Tottenham and Roberto De Zerbi

West Ham ignited their survival hopes on Friday night with a commanding 4-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

The Hammers’ dominant display at the London Stadium has seen them leapfrog Tottenham into 17th place, officially placing Spurs into the Premier League relegation zone for the first time in over a decade.

Braces from Konstantinos Mavropanos and Valentin Castellanos ensured the Hammers moved to 31 points, two clear of Tottenham, who now sit in 18th position with just seven games remaining to save their season.

Roberto De Zerbi to begin new era in the bottom three

The timing could not be more problematic for new Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian tactician, who has signed a five-year deal to replace Igor Tudor, officially begins his tenure on Sunday with his side staring down the dire chances of a first relegation since 1978.

De Zerbi takes charge of a side that has not won a Premier League match in 13 games.

While the former Brighton boss has spoken of his long-term ambition to bring title-challenging football back, his first task in hand is to win on his debut fixture away at Sunderland.

The pressure is immense; anything less than a victory at the Stadium of Light will leave Spurs rooted in the drop zone as the season enters its final month.

Massive task ahead for De Zerbi

De Zerbi has already signaled his intent to revive the high-octane football, but implementing his philosophy during a period of severe crisis is going to be difficult.

Spurs have struggled for goals and defensive stability all season, and the psychological blow of falling into the bottom three will test the resolve of the players.

With Sunderland sitting comfortably in mid-table, De Zerbi’s men face a side with nothing to lose.

For Tottenham, however, every point is now a matter of survival. The mission is clear: find a way to register a win in 2026, something the club has yet to do, or prepare for the unthinkable prospect of Championship football.

Mo Salah pens emotional farewell to Andy Robertson after Liverpool summer exit decision

Mohamed Salah has penned a moving tribute to his long-term teammate Andy Robertson, following the official confirmation that the Scottish defender will leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The announcement, which came just weeks after Salah revealed his own plans to depart Anfield this summer, marks the definitive end of the most successful era in the club’s modern history.

Robertson, 32, will bring his nine-year stay on Merseyside to a close as a free agent, having won every major trophy available under the lights of Anfield.

Mohamed Salah posts heartfelt message for Andy Robertson

Taking to social media, Salah shared a series of images capturing their shared celebrations over the years.

The Egyptian forward, who enjoyed a special friendship with the Scot, did not hide his emotion.

“With these pictures showing the bond we shared, I almost felt I could get away with saying nothing about you leaving. It’s been an honour to be your teammate and your friend. You’ve won it all and you leave as a legend. I’m sure we will meet again.”

Robertson replied recognising the journey the duo have gone through together saying: “Been a hell of a journey my friend.”

With both icons set to exit in June, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker remain as the final pillars of the 2019 Champions League-winning squad, though uncertainty continues to swirl around the long-term future of the captain as well.

Robertson, who has struggled for consistent minutes this season behind Milos Kerkez, admitted in his farewell statement that it is time to move on.

While he has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, subject to them avoiding relegation, Salah’s next destination remains a subject of intense global speculation.

As Liverpool head into their final seven games of a difficult campaign, the farewell period for two of their greatest ever servants begins this weekend against Fulham, where the Anfield faithful are expected to provide a thunderous reception for the departing legends.

Report: Tottenham in ‘pole position’ to sign 13 goals, 69 assists star in summer

Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Liverpool stalwart Andy Robertson this summer, following the official confirmation that the defender will depart Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Spurs are in “pole position” to secure the 32-year-old on a free transfer, though the deal is contingent on the North London club retaining their Premier League status.

Robertson, a key star of Liverpool’s success for nearly a decade, has opted not to extend his contract, bringing his nine-year tenure on Merseyside to an emotional close.

Tottenham in pole position to sign Andy Robertson

While Tottenham are currently the lead contender, they face a significant hurdle. Currently sitting in 17th place and just one point above the relegation zone, Spurs must avoid the drop to the Championship to finalise the move.

Ornstein reports that the groundwork for this deal was laid during the January window when Spurs made a failed attempt to bring the Scotsman to the North London club.

While Robertson chose to see out the season at Anfield, the appeal of a fresh challenge in London has kept Spurs ahead of the pack.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit; European giants including Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.

A return to Scotland with his boyhood club Celtic has also been rumored, though the player is said to be leaning toward remaining in a top-tier European league.

Robertson’s departure marks the end of a legendary chapter at Liverpool. Since his £8 million move from Hull City in 2017, the Scotland captain has won every major trophy available, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

With 373 appearances, 13 goals, and 69 assists, he departs as a Liverpool legend.

The timing of the announcement comes as Liverpool navigate a turbulent season, having recorded 15 defeats across all competitions.

With Mohamed Salah also confirmed to leave and Milos Kerkez increasingly favored by Arne Slot, Robertson admitted the time was right to move on. “I’ve put my heart and soul into this club for nine years,” Robertson said in his farewell message.

“I know football moves on, and I think now is the time for me to go wherever my next move takes me.”

End of the road: Man United prepare for the summer sale of attacker amid European interest

As Manchester United gear up for a pivotal summer transfer window, the future of Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee hangs firmly in the balance.

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils are officially prepared to sanction his departure at the end of the 2025/26 campaign but only on the strict condition that the club’s recruitment department successfully secures a high-caliber replacement first.

The Dutchman joined the Premier League giants with high expectations but managerial changes and his poor form has not helped his cause.

Earlier in his Man United career, he was used as a back-up option for Rasmus Hojlund and now Benjamin Sesko is the new leader of the United attack, keeping Zirkzee down the pecking order.

When the United hierarchy sanctioned the £35 million acquisition of Zirkzee from Bologna in the summer of 2024, he was expected to be the ideal signing for the club.

They were looking for an attacker who could bridge the gap between the attackers and the midfield.

His link-up play along with his presence upfront was highly rated and it was believed he could be the answer to United’s problems.

However, the transition to the frantic pace of the Premier League has proven to be a steep learning curve.

Across his time in Manchester, the 24-year-old has managed just nine goals in 69 appearances in all competitions.

His situation has only grown more complicated this season under interim manager Michael Carrick.

Dutchman is attracting interest from European clubs

Despite his struggles in England, Zirkzee’s stock remains remarkably high on the continent. The news of his potential availability has immediately sparked a massive bidding war.

A return to Italy appears to be the most logical escape route, with heavyweights such as Juventus, Napoli, AC Milan, and Atalanta all registering serious interest.

Even ambitious Serie A side Como are reportedly eyeing him as a statement signing.

Furthermore, Bundesliga clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are closely monitoring his situation.

Zirkzee promised so much and delivered so little but it must be remembered that the environment at Old Trafford worked against him and failed to provide him the best platform to become successful.

Despite the Reds’ recent domestic stumbles, defensive frailties, and the very real threat of missing out on Champions League qualification, the leadership at the club is confident in his abilities.

Reds boss is confident of support from the fans

“As weird as it might sound, I also feel the support of the fans.”

The Anfield faithful have endured a bruising stretch, witnessing a heavy FA Cup exit to Manchester City and a toothless, zero-shot-on-target display in the French capital.

Frustration on the terraces has naturally been palpable. Yet, Slot’s assertion suggests that the core, match-going fanbase recognises the sheer magnitude of the transitional period the club is navigating.

Rather than turning the stadium toxic, the supporters have largely afforded the Dutchman a vital grace period, recognising that rebuilding a title-winning machine requires immense patience.

Arsenal and Man United on alert as club green light discounted exit of 23-year-old defender

Top Premier League clubs are on alert after finding out about the availability of RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba.

This major development has immediately mobilised the recruitment departments at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, setting the stage for a fierce bidding war.

Since arriving in Germany from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2023, the French international has evolved into one of the most complete and coveted young defenders in European football.

RB Leipzig are ready to let Lukeba leave in the summer

While Lukeba’s current contract, which runs until 2029, includes a formidable release clause in the region of £70 million (€80m), sources indicate that the Bundesliga club is willing to negotiate below that premium figure.

Intermediaries have reportedly informed interested Premier League parties that Leipzig are prepared to sanction the transfer.

Cashing in on the 23-year-old allows Leipzig to successfully balance their books while retaining other prized emerging talents, such as highly sought-after winger Yan Diomande.

At Arsenal, sporting director Andrea Berta has reportedly already conducted extensive groundwork on the player, viewing him as a premium addition to further fortify Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing defense.

Arsenal face competition from Premier League rivals

Chelsea and Manchester United are equally invested in the race. The Blues have tracked Lukeba for over two years and see him as a necessary upgrade to resolve the defensive inconsistencies plaguing Stamford Bridge, especially with the futures of Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah remaining unclear.

At Old Trafford, the Red Devils have long admired the Frenchman’s aggressive tackling and composure on the ball, viewing him as a foundational piece capable of instantly elevating their defensive unit for the 2026/27 campaign.

With RB Leipzig softening their financial stance and formally communicating his availability to the continent’s heavyweights, Lukeba is now available on the market.

The only question that remains is which Premier League giant can offer the most compelling project to secure his signature.

Genuine option: Man United make Bundesliga star their priority ahead of summer window

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have identified VfB Stuttgart’s highly-rated maestro, Angelo Stiller, as a genuine, priority option to anchor their engine room.

However, securing the signature of the 25-year-old German international will be far from a straightforward task, with heavy-hitters Liverpool and Newcastle United also preparing to aggressively contest the transfer.

With Man United looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer transfer window, Stiller has emerged as a serious option.

The Red Devils are set to lose Casemiro at the end of the season and that has turned their focus towards signing a new midfielder.

Man United to rebuild their midfield in the summer

For Man United, the impending summer window represents a critical juncture in their ongoing squad rebuild.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is acutely aware of the need to inject elite technical quality and defensive stability into a midfield that has frequently lacked a commanding presence this season.

Stiller, a naturally left-footed defensive midfielder possessing exceptional vision, composure under pressure, and a phenomenal passing range, fits the exact profile required to dictate tempo from deep.

United have scouted him extensively throughout the 2025/2026 campaign and view him as a foundational piece for their long-term tactical evolution.

Red Devils face competition from Premier League rivals

The Red Devils, however, face formidable domestic competition. Liverpool are well-documented, long-term admirers of the former Bayern Munich academy graduate.

As they continue their exhaustive search for a premier No.6 to permanently balance their midfield, Stiller’s profile heavily appeals to the Anfield recruitment team.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s interest is driven by immediate tactical necessity.

With mounting uncertainty continuing to surround the long-term future of Sandro Tonali on Tyneside, the Magpies view a swoop for Stiller as a highly logical option.

The Stuttgart star would offer Eddie Howe a plug-and-play solution capable of instantly thriving in the Premier League’s physical environment.

The German club has reportedly slapped a rigid €50 million (roughly £43 million) price tag on their prized asset.

Arsenal monitor Premier League trio as Arteta prepares to make monumental changes

As Arsenal continue to build a squad capable of sustained domestic and European dominance, their recruitment department has reportedly set its sights on St James’ Park.

According to BBC, the Gunners are closely monitoring the situation of Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento.

With the Magpies currently languishing in 12th place in the Premier League and facing the very real prospect of missing out on lucrative European football entirely, a summer fire sale on Tyneside is becoming increasingly probable.

Arsenal appear perfectly positioned to capitalise on this financial vulnerability, with the highly-rated England international topping their defensive wishlist.

Arsenal are in the market for a new full-back

Arsenal’s interest in the 23-year-old is heavily tied to the uncertain future of Ben White.

With White reportedly considering his options in search of more consistent playing time, sporting director Andrea Berta has identified Livramento as an ideal, long-term successor on the right side of the defense.

Despite his undeniable talent and attacking prowess, Livramento’s 2025/26 campaign has been severely disrupted by persistent injury issues.

Consequently, Arsenal’s hierarchy is carefully evaluating his medical history before fully committing to a formal approach.

Gunners have several Newcastle players on their radar

Interestingly, Livramento is not the only Newcastle star currently on Arsenal’s radar. The North London club’s ambitious summer plans reportedly involve a multi-player raid.

The Gunners retain a serious, long-standing interest in winger Anthony Gordon, having heavily considered a move for him in the summer of 2024.

Furthermore, Sandro Tonali has emerged as a potential target to bolster Mikel Arteta’s engine room.

Newcastle’s failure to secure Champions League football could force the Italian playmaker to seek an exit, with Arsenal holding preliminary talks with his representatives earlier this year.

However, the Magpies remain stubborn negotiators, reportedly demanding a staggering £100 million each for both Gordon and Tonali.

The Gunners are clearly prepared to aggressively exploit Newcastle’s current precarious standing to finalise their championship-winning puzzle.

Manager’s representative in attendance at PSG vs Liverpool raises questions over Slot’s future

Having already gone out of the Premier League title race months ago, Liverpool’s season is falling apart and Slot is struggling to save it.

Against PSG, the most significant development may not have occurred on the pitch, but rather in the VIP stands of the Parc des Princes.

Inaki Ibanez, the prominent agent representing highly coveted manager Xabi Alonso, was spotted in attendance after reportedly flying in via private jet from San Sebastian, according to Football Fan Cast.

Liverpool continue to sink deeper every week

Slot is currently navigating his darkest hour on Merseyside. The 2-0 defeat in the French capital was not just a poor result, it was a damning indictment of the team’s current tactical weakness.

The Champions League now represents the club’s final glimmer of hope for silverware this term, having already crashed out of all domestic cup competitions.

More worryingly, the defending Premier League champions find themselves in genuine danger of slipping out of the top four entirely.

Failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League would be viewed as a catastrophic failure by Fenway Sports Group (FSG), especially after the club sanctioned a massive financial outlay to reinforce the squad during the summer transfer window.

Arne Slot to get replaced by Alonso at Anfield?

Alonso holds emotional connection with the Liverpool fans. He was a successful midfielder during his time at the club and helped the club win the Champions League in 2005.

His managerial career has been impressive, even though he was relieved off his duties at Real Madrid just a few months in his tenure.

The Spaniard won the league title with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and ended Bayern Munich’s dominance in Germany.

With Alonso currently a free agent, eager to return to the dugout, and reportedly very open to taking the reins at his former club, Ibanez’s appearance in Paris is incredibly difficult to write off as a mere coincidence.
