Olympique Lyon in Talks to Sign Endrick on Loan from Real Madrid
Olympique Lyon are in advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign Brazilian youngster Endrick on loan for the January 2026 transfer window, as his possible loan move was earlier reported by Softfootball. The Ligue 1 side made an official approach earlier this week to explore the possibility of a short-term deal, as was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.
The 19-year-old striker has not featured in any competitive match under Xabi Alonso, even after recovering from injury more than a month ago. That has raised concerns about his lack of playing time and his development at the Santiago Bernabéu. As reported by Softfootball, his father, Douglas, recently showed support for the struggling youngster.

Lyon’s manager Paulo Fonseca has already spoken with Endrick about the club’s project. They see him as a key part of their attacking plans for the second half of the season. Lyon currently sit fourth in Ligue 1, just two points behind Paris Saint-Germain, and are also pushing deep in the UEFA Europa League. The French club believes that offering Endrick regular football at this level will help him regain rhythm and confidence ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Endrick’s camp has set clear conditions for any loan move. The club must belong to one of Europe’s top five leagues or the top three in Portugal. It must be involved in the Champions League or Europa League and play attacking football. Lyon perfectly fits those requirements. Their good relationship with Real Madrid, which dates back to transfers involving Karim Benzema and Mahamadou Diarra, could also make talks smoother for both sides.

Financially, Lyon are capable of handling the deal. The loan is expected to cost around $5.23 million for six months, covering a portion of the player’s transfer amortisation. The club’s owner, Michele Kang, has already shown willingness to support Fonseca’s request for a new striker. With Lacazette and Mikautadze gone, the manager currently depends on Pavel Sulc, Martin Satriano, and young Enzo Molebe, leaving room for a powerful forward like Endrick.

Real Madrid are open to a temporary loan that guarantees consistent playing time for the teenager. Endrick still dreams of proving himself in Madrid, but with no minutes so far this season, a move looks more realistic by the day. Lyon are pushing hardest and remain confident they can finalise an agreement before the January window opens. For the player, this might be the right step toward maturity, exposure, and a return to form before he fights again for his place in Spain.
