Inter Miami are set to visit Geodis Park for the second leg of their MLS 1/8-finals playoff tie with Nashville SC. The visitors lead the series 3-1 after Lionel Messi’s brilliance in the first match. That victory gave them confidence heading into Tennessee, especially after their earlier 5-2 triumph at the same venue, where Messi scored a hat-trick, as reported by Softfootball.

Miami have had the better of Nashville in recent times, winning all of their last five meetings. The most recent of those came in the playoff opener, where Messi netted twice and Jordi Alba impressed in defence, a performance covered by Softfootball. Still, Messi spoke openly this week, telling Fabrizio Romano that the team’s defensive problems have made life difficult. He said they need the MLS Cup to truly call this season a success.

Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luís talked about his brief time at Chelsea, expressing both regret and admiration for the club’s transformation under Maresca. Reflecting on his 2014–15 spell in London, Luís admitted he struggled to meet expectations despite Chelsea investing €20 million to sign him from Atlético Madrid.

He said in a video shared by The Obi One Podcast official X account:

Chelsea made a big effort to bring me from Atlético, and I know Marina and Abramovich believed in me. I feel sorry because I did not play well enough. I was not myself at that time.

Days before the game, I was having nightmares. When I watched Chelsea play under Maresca, I thought we were finished. For me, Chelsea is one of the best tactical teams in Europe. It is almost impossible to press them; they build from the back so well.

Manchester City Look to Bounce Back as Haaland and Rodri Return for Bournemouth Clash

A wounded Manchester City will look to rediscover their rhythm when they welcome an in-form Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Pep Guardiola’s men fell 1-0 to Aston Villa last weekend, as Softfootball reported. The result left them six points behind leaders Arsenal heading into Matchweek 10. However, City will draw confidence from their dominant home record, having lost only once in their last ten Premier League matches at the Etihad.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, are enjoying a remarkable start to the season. The Cherries sit second after a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest extended their unbeaten run to eight league games. Softfootball highlighted Guardiola’s praise for Antoine Semenyo’s impact, as Bournemouth continue to impress under Andoni Iraola with an attacking style that has surprised many.

Arne Slot Confirms Liverpool Owners Still Back Him Despite Poor Run of Form

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that he continues to have the backing of the club’s hierarchy despite their recent poor run of results. His comments came after Liverpool’s sixth defeat in seven matches, including a 3-2 loss to Brentford, which deepened concerns about the team’s form, as reported by Softfootball.

Slot said when asked about his communication with the owners, as shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

They tell me same things as last year, yes. I speak mainly to Richard Hughes and once in a while to the others. They also see similar things as what I see.

The Dutchman reiterated that his relationship with Liverpool’s leadership, particularly sporting director Hughes and the Fenway Sports Group, remains unchanged. Slot stressed that his discussions with the club have stayed consistent despite recent defeats.

He said:

For me, the conversations have not changed a lot. We always talk about the game, and it’s always nicer to talk about the game if you have won than if you have lost.

According to him, both he and the leadership share similar views on the challenges facing the team — tactical adjustments, injuries, and fitness issues.

The Dutch coach also addressed criticism surrounding his team selections, especially after the Carabao Cup loss to Crystal Palace. He defended his rotation choices, citing absences of key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, and Joe Gomez.

As Softfootball reported after that match, the Reds fielded several youngsters, with Slot explaining:

Despite the setbacks, Slot retains the trust of the club’s owners, who believe the current form is a temporary phase. The manager remains confident that his squad will recover its rhythm and return to winning ways soon

Rúben Amorim Dismisses Liverpool Rivalry Talk, Focused Only on Winning the Premier League

Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim has played down the importance of being ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table, insisting that his only goal is to keep winning and guide United to the top of English football. Speaking after United’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, as reported by Softfootball, Amorim said he is not interested in rivalry bragging rights but in building a team that can compete for the title.

Ruben Amorim (Photo Credit: Manchester United media)

Amorim stated firmly, as shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

I could not care less about being up in front of Liverpool. I just want to win every game and finish top of the league. I want to be in that position to be the champions of the Premier League!

His comments came shortly after Softfootball reported how Amorim’s tactical discipline and strong leadership have revitalised the Bruno Fernandes–Casemiro partnership in midfield, a key factor in United’s recent resurgence.

The victory at Anfield marked Manchester United’s first win there since 2016, a result that many fans and pundits hailed as a statement of intent. Amorim, however, preferred to stay grounded. He described it as the biggest win of his tenure so far but insisted that it would not mean much beyond the three points.

He said, shifting attention to the upcoming fixture against Brighton:

We have the responsibility to play to win the game… but tomorrow, it will not mean a lot.

Amorim’s approach has always been about consistency and long-term progress rather than emotional reactions to single results. The win pushed United to ninth place, only two points behind Liverpool, who were struggling with a four-game losing streak. Yet, the Portuguese coach maintained that his focus was on improving performance week after week, not on the league table.

Speaking about squad rotation in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, Amorim addressed the limited playing time of young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. He explained:

We need to go to Europe! Imagine for me to have Kobbie Mainoo with the minutes that he’s playing, he needs more games for me to make a rotation.

The manager also admitted the difficulty of balancing minutes between experienced players and developing youngsters. He said:

One game is really hard. I have to take out one of the guys that is playing to put in another.

Despite Mainoo’s frustration over a blocked loan move in the summer, Amorim reaffirmed his belief in the 20-year-old’s talent.

He said:

I believe a lot in Kobbie. I think I am helping him, and that is it. He will have opportunities like the other guys.

Amorim’s patience and confidence in youth have become trademarks of his management style. His message is simple and clear. For him, it is not about Liverpool or any other rival. It is about Manchester United returning to the top, one win at a time.

Lucas Beraldo Denies PSG Exit Rumors, Reaffirms His Commitment to the Club

Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo has spoken out to dismiss recent rumours about his possible departure from Paris Saint-Germain, calling them fake news. In a heartfelt message shared on his official Instagram story on October 31, 2025, the 21-year-old centre-back made it clear that he remains fully committed to the French champions.

The clarification followed several online reports claiming that Beraldo was unsettled due to limited minutes in major matches. His response comes only a few days after Softfootball reported PSG’s plans to secure long-term defensive stability with players like Willian Pacho and Marquinhos.

Lucas Beraldo (Photo Credit: Lucas Beraldo via Instagram)
Lucas Beraldo (Photo Credit: Lucas Beraldo via Instagram)

Beraldo wrote, as shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

I’ve seen some fake news going around saying that I want to leave PSG. I’m very happy at PSG, and playing and defending for this club is undoubtedly a dream come true. I stay focused to continue giving my best and together with my teammates to achieve our goals. Let’s go Paris!

The message arrived not long after PSG’s 3-0 victory over Brest, in which Hakimi starred, as reported by Softfootball. A result that highlighted their strong domestic form but also reminded fans that Beraldo has not featured as regularly in high-profile fixtures. Reports linking him with frustration started to spread in late October.

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) November 1, 2025

Some outlets suggested that Beraldo was unhappy with his reduced role under Luis Enrique, particularly after being left out of the Champions League starting lineup. However, Enrique responded by expressing trust in the young defender, saying he only needed patience. The coach explained during a recent press conference:

Beraldo is very young but has a lot of experience and personality. I like him a lot. Right now, he’s not playing all the matches he wants, but that’s how it is in this team.

Beraldo’s contract with PSG runs until June 2028, showing that the club still sees him as part of its long-term project. Since joining from São Paulo in January 2024, he has earned praise for his composure on the ball, his calm passing under pressure, and his ability to build play from the back. In his debut season, he made 25 Ligue 1 appearances and helped PSG secure a domestic double. Despite that success, he has not featured in this season’s Champions League, which has fuelled questions about his role in Enrique’s rotation.

The defender currently competes with Marquinhos, Pacho, and Ilya Zabarnyi for a place in central defense. The competition is tough, especially with Pacho’s recent rise in form and consistent selection in key matches. Beraldo, however, appears determined to fight for his spot. His public statement to fans seems aimed at shutting down any talk of a transfer before the winter window and at keeping focus on PSG’s ambitions both in France and in Europe.

While PSG continue to chase trophies, they have also been managing injuries to key players, as Doué was stretchered off during the recent Lorient draw. Amid that, Beraldo’s reassurance is a timely message of unity. It reminds supporters that, despite rumours, he remains focused on helping the team reach its goals.

Manchester United eye revenge against Nottingham Forest at City Ground

Manchester United travel to the City ground on Saturday to face Nottingham Forest in the match-day 10 of the premier league this season, Softfootball reports.

The resurgent Red Devils hammered high flying Brighton 4-2 last weekend while their host the Tricky Trees lost 2-0 to in-form Bournemouth.

Interestingly, Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester United home and away with a 1-0 scoreline in both matches and United would like a revenge in tomorrow’s encounter.

Head-to-head

Nottingham are not playing great at the moment but will draw confidence from the fact that they beat Manchester United twice last season while the Red Devils would be going for a revenge.

Man United and Nottingham Forest have faced each other 114 times across all competitions, with the Red Devils winning 54 and the Tricky Trees’ 36, while there have also been 24 draws played out between the two clubs.

October 1892 was the first meeting between both sides. Then Man United (known then as Newton Heath) drew 1-1 with Forest in the old Division One. Forest won 3-1 away from home just three months later. The Red Devils won against Forest for the first time in 1907 4-0 and it was one of just six victories in their first 23 meetings across all competitions up until 1935.

However, Man United have dominated this fixture in the Premier League, with 14 wins out of 20 matches, including a memorable 8-1 thrashing of the Tricky Trees at the City Ground in February 1999.

Star player

England international, Elliot Anderson is the star player for Nottingham Forest and his form in the earlier part of the season got him a call-up to the Three Lions of England. Although, the team have struggled in recent times, Anderson is still one of the shinning lights for the City Ground side.

For Manchester United, It’s captain Bruno Fernandez. He makes the side thick and despite being played out of position, he is impacting the games positively like his faint assist for Bryan Mbeumo’s fourth goal against Brighton last week.

Nottingham Forest will be without Chris Wood (knee) and new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko (groin), while Ola Aina (hamstring), Dilane Bakwa (unspecified) and Angus Gunn (knee).

Real reason why Xabi Alonso can’t punish Vinicius despite poor behavior and obvious rift

Xabi Alonso has tried to manage the rift between him and Vinicius Junior since he became the manager of Real Madrid in the summer, Softfootball reports.

The Brazilian’s poor behaviour came to its climax last weekend during the El Clasico when Alonso asked for him to be substituted and he got furious, doing some hand gestures and mumbling words before raging off to the bench. Real Madrid eventually defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

Xabi Alonso and Vinicius jr (Photo Credit: Real Madrid website)
Xabi Alonso and Vinicius jr (Photo Credit: Real Madrid website)

The hierarchy at Real Madrid were furious and many expected Vinicius to be punished by the club and Alonso, especially after he issued an apology without any mention of Alonso.

In a post by football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Alonso said:

Vinicius Jr will NOT be punished. The matter is closed. He’s was impeccable in his speech in front of all of us.

It’s an interesting stand to take for a player that openly disrespected you in front of almost 600 million fans that watched the El Clasico on that faithful day.

The Reason Alonso is avoiding a fight with Vinicius

Vinicius has been one of the most important players for Real Madrid since Karim Benzemi left the club for Saudi Arabia.

However, since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. His leadership role on the pitch has reduced tremendously as Alonso focuses more on Mbappe while Vinicius is not the indispensable player he once was under former Coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

And this has followed into his new contract negotiations as Real Madrid are unwilling to pay Vinicius more than Mbappe or even equal to the Frenchman with the excuse that it would disrupt the pay structure at the club.

Real Madrid shared a video on their official X handle on Vinicius and his teammates training.

JOGA BONITO 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/lQVu4yQ8yp

— Real Madrid C.F. 🇧🇷🇵🇹 (@realmadridpt) October 29, 2025

Alonso, would not want to keep an unhappy Vinicius in his team because he might disrupt the dressing room. No manager wants that and Alonso in his debut season needs his best players on his side.

Vinicius can be very passionate and a player that can play in any side in the world. Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are already monitoring his situation and Alonso would not want to lose him to any club that could potentially be at them to the UEFA Champions League.

It’s a chess game or mind game if you like but one thing is for sure, Alonso cannot afford to lose the trust of the players because the majority of them would be looking at home they manage Vinicius especially during these troubled times.

Xabi Alonso explains why Endrick can’t get more playing time at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has explained why Endrick is not getting enough playing time at the club, Softfootball.

The former Liverpool midfielder is enjoying a fine debut season in Spain and last weekend, he guided Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona. The win gave them a five points lead on top of LaLiga top.

Endrick of Real Madrid (Photo Credit: Madrid via X)

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle shared an interview of Alonso. He wrote:

Xabi Alonso: I would have liked Endrick to have had more minutes. But there are circumstances that need to be right.

Endrick has made the match-day squad on few occasions but is yet to feature in any matches so far. He has grown frustrated and wants to leave for a team that would help him get game time so, he could force himself into the Brazilian squad for the World Cup.

Lyon are currently in talks with Real Madrid to see if they can agree on a January loan for the player. The French Ligue 1 might just provide Endrick with the right opportunity to get back to reckoning with the Brazil national team, currently coach by his former Real Madrid Coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid are preparing for their next match against Valencia and there are no guarantees that Endrick would feature into the game.

Isak, Jones ruled out of Aston Villa clash as Slot confirms Gravenberch’s return to training

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch is back in training ahead of their Premier League clash with Aston Villa while Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones are ruled out, Softfootball reports.

The Reds are in for a tricky match on Saturday after losing 3-2 to Brentford last weekend while Aston Villa defeated Manchester City 1-0 at Villa Park and they take that confidence into Anfield.

Speaking at his pre-match press briefing which was shared via Liverpool’s official X handle. Liverpool manager, Arne Slot said:

As I said many times, in the end phase of the injury things can slow down a bit or things can go faster. Let’s wait and see where they are.

Like I said, Ryan trained with us for the first time yesterday, will train with us today. Then we are going to make the call if he is able to start, yes or no.

The other two are probably 99.9 per cent sure not in the squad [on] Saturday.

Liverpool have lost four premier league games consecutively and will be desperate for a win against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Marcus Rashford turns 28 today and he is relishing his career at Barcelona where he is currently the assist king at the Camp Nou, Softfootball reports.

Rashford has played 13 games in all competition for Barcelona and has scored five goals with five assists making him one of the standout players for Hansi Flick’s side as they try to defend their league title.

The England international joined Barcelona in the summer on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy. And judging by his performances so far, Barcelona are ready to sign him permanently with football director Deco and Lamine Yamal being huge admirers of the winger.

Rashford has brought his pace, dribbling and powerful shooting to Barcelona and makes them more difficult to defend against. He has the ability to play anywhere in attack and loved by Hansi Flick. He is also loved in and outside of the pitch. A great testimony as to why he was given an MBE for his community work in helping in the fight against child poverty.

Rashford spent nine and a half seasons with Manchester United. Before going on loan  in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign to Aston Villa. Under Spanish coach Unai Emery the forward made 17 appearances, scoring four goals and creating five assists.

According to @CFCBlueTomorrow, Chelsea defending was embarrassing and also blamed manager Enzo Maresca for his coaching stayle. He wrote:

These defenders are truly embarrassing. We need more experience. They are so fragile in defence it’s frightening.

The red cards are a huge issue too. These players are so petulant and undisciplined. The inexperience shows, but it’s also POOR man management and coaching from Maresca and his staff. Something needs to be done because this is shocking.

@Sosmacy pleaded with the club to invest in a new centerback and goalkeeper because he feared the worst against better teams. He said:

Please, buy a centre back and a quality goal keeper.

We can’t keep on watching uncle Tosin and Chalobah.

If the former with his height can’t help us with set pieces, then what exactly is he good at?

He can’t progress the ball, he’s not good with one on one, makes silly mistakes and so on.

How are we expected to compete with the back line??

Colwil – gone

Fofana- always in the hospital

Chalobah and Tosin- always available but very average.

Please fix this.

From a concerned Chelsea fan.

While @MwangiHub was happy with the away win, he gave Tosin a low rating and highlighted the fact that Chelsea defense is not strong enough.

@sam_innes19 was surprised that Chelsea almost blew a comfortable lead but relieved at the final score. He revealed:

Massive relief, but these players embarrassed themselves in the second half. We looked phenomenal in the first and then played like a relegation side in the second. 3-0 up at half time and we almost blew it.

@WasiyullahB added:

Instead of signing random kids, how about we sign some experienced defenders and a quality goalkeeper? What I saw today was a shocking performance. We just got lucky with the win.

Tosin kept getting sticks for his performer and summed up by @swank_pr. He said:

Tosin is shit as always , defence is the worst in England at the moment , most of the players are mid and nowhere being world class !!

Chelsea will return to premier league action on Saturday as they face Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby.

Crystal Palace Thrash Young Liverpool to Seal Carabao Cup Quarter-Final Spot at Anfield

Crystal Palace stunned a youthful Liverpool side with a dominant 3-0 win at Anfield to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Two first-half goals from Ismaila Sarr and a late strike from Yeremy Pino secured the victory, deepening the Reds’ current crisis under Arne Slot. The defeat means Liverpool have now lost six of their last seven matches across all competitions, including the recent Premier League loss to Brentford, as reported by Softfootball.

Arne Slot made ten changes to his team, starting three teenagers and leaving out key players such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. The decision came as Liverpool continued their tradition of using this competition to give opportunities to young players, as reported by Softfootball. However, the inexperience showed, as Palace took full advantage of a fragile defense and low confidence to cruise past the Reds on a rain-soaked night in Merseyside.

After a bright opening from the hosts, Palace struck first when Joe Gomez’s error allowed Sarr to fire into the bottom corner. The Senegal forward doubled the lead before half-time, combining beautifully with Yeremy Pino to leave debutant goalkeeper Freddie Woodman helpless. The young keeper, along with Kieran Morrison and Wellity Lucky, all made their Liverpool debuts, but the night was one to forget for Slot’s experimental side.

The second half offered little improvement. Federico Chiesa’s frustration boiled over before 18-year-old Amara Nallo was sent off for a last-man challenge on Justin Devenny. With Liverpool reduced to ten men, Pino capped the performance with a composed finish, sealing a well-deserved 3-0 win for Oliver Glasner’s side.

Sarr’s brace means he has now scored seven career goals against Liverpool, of which five goals came in the last four games, as posted on the club’s official X account. The result leaves Slot under growing pressure to deliver a turnaround, with Liverpool now desperate for a response when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.

Berbatov Urges Šeško to Show Passion and Demand the Ball to Succeed at Man United

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has shared his thoughts on Benjamin Šeško’s adaptation to life at Old Trafford, urging the Slovenian forward to be more vocal and assertive on the pitch. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, Berbatov praised Šeško’s strength, technical ability, and two-footed finishing while stressing the need for controlled emotion to earn trust and quicker service from teammates.

According to Softfootball, Manchester United secured Šeško from RB Leipzig for €85 million in August 2025 after an impressive stint in Germany. The Bulgarian legend, known for his calm composure and creativity during his United days, said Šeško has all the physical tools to succeed but must blend that with assertiveness.

As reported by Softfootball, the 22-year-old striker has already shown flashes of his potential, scoring his first goal at Old Trafford earlier this season. However, Berbatov believes the youngster still needs to find his voice within the squad to fully thrive.

Berbatov said, as posted on the official X account:

If you see that it’s not working out quick enough, speak with them. He’s a big, strong lad. He can run, he can cover the space, he can hold the ball. The goals I saw him score in his previous club were unbelievable — left foot, right foot. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Berbatov went on to emphasise that Šeško must not shy away from showing emotion. He added:

Sometimes, be angry, be more angry. Scream, swear, whatever — not personal — but in a way that says, ‘I’m here, man, give me the ball!’

Šeško, who registered eight goals and three assists for RB Leipzig in the 2024/25 season, has been tipped by manager Rúben Amorim to develop into a top Premier League striker. Softfootball recently reported Amorim’s growing confidence in the youngster’s attitude and work rate.

Berbatov’s advice could prove vital as Šeško looks to assert himself and become a key figure in Manchester United’s attack this season.

Pedro “Dro” Fernández Shines with LaLiga and Champions League Debut for Barcelona

Barcelona’s latest La Masia gem, Pedro “Dro” Fernández, has made his long-awaited breakthrough into the first team. The 17-year-old midfielder officially debuted in both LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League during the 2025–26 season under Hansi Flick, continuing the club’s proud tradition of nurturing homegrown talent.

According to SoftFootball, Dro started in the 2–1 win over Real Sociedad at Montjuïc on September 28, marking his first-ever appearance in Spain’s top flight. Just a few weeks later, he started again in the Champions League match against Olympiacos, a night that fans will remember for Fermín López’s brilliant performance.

Dro’s debut carries extra weight, coming at a time when Barcelona has struggled with injuries and relied heavily on its academy products, as reported by Softfootball. After his first two senior outings, the young midfielder expressed deep pride in wearing the Barça jersey. Dro said in a video posted by Barcelona on their official X account:

Whether it’s the Champions League, LaLiga or Copa, making my debut in this jersey is always very special.

He described his experience as truly unique and admitted feeling a bit nervous at first but grew calmer and more confident in his second appearance, crediting Flick and his senior teammates for helping him adjust quickly.

Dro’s rise to prominence began during the pre-season tour of Japan and Korea, where he caught attention with a spectacular volley against Vissel Kobe. Born in the Philippines but representing Spain at youth levels, he joined La Masia in 2022 and has since been known for his creativity, maturity, and versatility — excelling both as an attacking midfielder and on the left wing.

Now fully integrated into Flick’s first-team setup, Dro trains regularly with the senior side and remains one of Barcelona’s most exciting prospects. While interest from abroad continues to grow, particularly from West Ham United, the club remains focused on developing its young talent, with Dro standing out as one of the brightest symbols of Barça’s future.

Lewandowski and Olmo Return to Training Ahead of Barcelona’s Clash with Elche

Barcelona fans finally have something to smile about this week. Both Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo were spotted training with the group on Wednesday, a big step forward in their recovery from recent injuries. The two attackers took part in parts of the main session, sharing the pitch with a few Barça Atlètic youngsters as Hansi Flick’s men stepped up preparations for Sunday’s La Liga game against Elche at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

According to Softfootball, Lewandowski had been battling a thigh problem that kept him out of the El Clásico loss to Real Madrid, while Olmo’s injury further deepened Barcelona’s attacking issues earlier this month. Both players returning at the same time, as posted by the club on their official X account, is seen as a huge boost for Flick, who has had to shuffle his lineup week after week due to fitness concerns.

The training session also featured young talents like Kochen, Eder Aller, Jofre, Dro, A. Fernández, and Xavi Espart. Their inclusion brought good energy to the pitch as the first team tried out movement drills and tactical plays. Raphinha’s recent setback that was reported by Softfootball and the heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to their big rival Real Madrid still linger in memory, but the return of Lewandowski and Olmo adds a sense of hope that the squad badly needs right now.

Meanwhile, Pau Cubarsí and Marcus Rashford did not train with the group, as both were given permission by the club to rest. The Catalans will continue their training sessions throughout the week before Sunday’s match, which could play a key role in rebuilding confidence and momentum in what remains a long and demanding season.

It wasn’t the loudest day at the training ground, but for Barcelona, it was a meaningful one—a small sign that better days might be on the way.

Has Al-Nassr Become Too Dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Brilliance?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact at Al-Nassr has been massive, but questions are beginning to surface about how much the club leans on him. As reported by Softfootball, the Portuguese legend was the star again when he scored his 950th career goal in a 2-0 win over Al-Hazem earlier this month. Despite his impressive numbers, it’s interesting to note that the team sometimes seems to perform better when he is not on the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Photo Credit: Al Nassr via X)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Photo Credit: Al Nassr via X)

During the 2022/23 season, Al-Nassr averaged 2.36 points per game without Ronaldo, compared to 2.13 when he played. They even scored a bit more in his absence. The team occasionally looks more fluid without constantly searching for him with every attack. It is not that Ronaldo is a problem, but his presence tends to make others overly dependent on him instead of trusting their instincts.

Ronaldo has scored 106 goals since joining Al-Nassr in 2022, an incredible return by any measure. Yet, the club has not lifted the Saudi Pro League trophy since 2019. They have finished second in the last two seasons and lost out in major tournaments like the AFC Champions League, Super Cup and King’s Cup, in which they just lost a match to Al-Ittihad in a 2-1 scoreline, as reported by Softfootball.

— AlNassr FC (@AlNassrFC_EN) October 28, 2025

Their only silverware since Ronaldo arrived remains the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, which FIFA does not officially recognise. Even though Al-Nassr started the 2025/26 season perfectly with six wins from six games, frustration is quietly growing among some supporters. While many still adore him, a portion of the fanbase has become critical.

Videos online show fans turning their backs during matches, and some describe the team’s heavy reliance on Ronaldo as embarrassing. Critics argue that the club’s expensive signings, such as Sadio Mané, Marcelo Brozović, and Aymeric Laporte, have not changed the fact that the system revolves too much around one man.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Photo Credit: Al Nassr via X)

Al Nassr FC, via their official X account, posted a goal scored by Cristiano Ronaldo during a match, highlighting his skill and athleticism, which is particularly notable given his age of 40 and ongoing performance in the 2025–26 Saudi Pro League season.

Watch the video below:

A strike only the best can make 💛👑 pic.twitter.com/IFugVC3O5f

— AlNassr FC (@AlNassrFC_EN) October 19, 2025

Off the pitch, though, Ronaldo’s effect goes far beyond football. His arrival in December 2022 reshaped Saudi football entirely, encouraging stars like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and Riyad Mahrez to join the league. He has elevated Al-Nassr’s profile globally, attracting new sponsors and fans everywhere. Ronaldo’s influence has even changed how other clubs approach competition in the Saudi Pro League.

Still, success in football is not only about one player. Ronaldo’s influence is undeniable, both commercially and culturally, but the question remains whether Al-Nassr can balance their reliance on him with a stronger team identity. Whatever the case, his time in Saudi Arabia has already reshaped the country’s football landscape and pushed Al-Nassr into global conversations that once felt impossible.

Bukayo Saka Confident Arsenal Can Finally Win the Premier League Title This Season

Bukayo Saka says Arsenal have finally built the squad capable of winning the Premier League title after three straight seasons of near misses. Speaking after the Gunners’ 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, which took them four points clear at the top, Saka believes this campaign could be different for Mikel Arteta’s men. Softfootball reported that the club had been working to secure Saka’s long-term future, a sign of just how crucial he remains to Arsenal’s title ambitions.

The 24-year-old has seen Arsenal finish second in three consecutive seasons—twice behind Manchester City and once behind Liverpool. But with the team now showing greater resilience and balance, Saka feels things have changed. As posted on the Premier League’s official X account, he said:

When you are an Arsenal player, there’s always talk about where we will finish. This season we are stronger, and even with injuries, everyone who comes in keeps the level high.

That belief reflects the maturity Saka has developed over the years, something he spoke about in Softootball’s earlier feature highlighting his growing leadership role within the squad.

Bukayo Saka (Photo Credit: Arsenal website)

Saka pointed out that Arsenal have started winning tough away games that once tripped them up. He said:

Matches like Newcastle away used to be difficult for us, but this year we got the result. It’s early, though. I have learnt that the key part of the season is in April, when you need to be first.

Marking his 200th Arsenal appearance this month, Saka reached 100 Premier League goal involvements, becoming the second-youngest player to achieve the feat for the club after Cesc Fabregas. He said:

It’s a big milestone, but I’m always hungry for more. I have grown from a boy to a man here, and I want to help the club win the biggest trophies.

After three seasons of near misses, Bukayo Saka thinks this could be @Arsenal's year… 👀🏆

He shared a similar sentiment in Softootball’s exclusive piece, where he spoke about his drive to keep improving and creating history at Arsenal.

Arsenal host Brighton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before visiting Burnley in the Premier League. With momentum on their side, Saka believes the squad now has the quality and mindset to go all the way and bring the title back to North London.

Olympique Lyon in Talks to Sign Endrick on Loan from Real Madrid

Olympique Lyon are in advanced talks with Real Madrid to sign Brazilian youngster Endrick on loan for the January 2026 transfer window, as his possible loan move was earlier reported by Softfootball. The Ligue 1 side made an official approach earlier this week to explore the possibility of a short-term deal, as was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

The 19-year-old striker has not featured in any competitive match under Xabi Alonso, even after recovering from injury more than a month ago. That has raised concerns about his lack of playing time and his development at the Santiago Bernabéu. As reported by Softfootball, his father, Douglas, recently showed support for the struggling youngster.

Lyon’s manager Paulo Fonseca has already spoken with Endrick about the club’s project. They see him as a key part of their attacking plans for the second half of the season. Lyon currently sit fourth in Ligue 1, just two points behind Paris Saint-Germain, and are also pushing deep in the UEFA Europa League. The French club believes that offering Endrick regular football at this level will help him regain rhythm and confidence ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Endrick’s camp has set clear conditions for any loan move. The club must belong to one of Europe’s top five leagues or the top three in Portugal. It must be involved in the Champions League or Europa League and play attacking football. Lyon perfectly fits those requirements. Their good relationship with Real Madrid, which dates back to transfers involving Karim Benzema and Mahamadou Diarra, could also make talks smoother for both sides.

Financially, Lyon are capable of handling the deal. The loan is expected to cost around $5.23 million for six months, covering a portion of the player’s transfer amortisation. The club’s owner, Michele Kang, has already shown willingness to support Fonseca’s request for a new striker. With Lacazette and Mikautadze gone, the manager currently depends on Pavel Sulc, Martin Satriano, and young Enzo Molebe, leaving room for a powerful forward like Endrick.

Real Madrid are open to a temporary loan that guarantees consistent playing time for the teenager. Endrick still dreams of proving himself in Madrid, but with no minutes so far this season, a move looks more realistic by the day. Lyon are pushing hardest and remain confident they can finalise an agreement before the January window opens. For the player, this might be the right step toward maturity, exposure, and a return to form before he fights again for his place in Spain.

João Pedro and Liam Delap Ready for Carabao Cup Test Against Wolves, Maresca Confirms

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an injury update ahead of the Carabao Cup fourth-round clash against Wolves on October 29, 2025. Following Chelsea’s surprising 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, as reported by Softfootball, the Blues are keen to bounce back in the knockout competition. Squad rotation and careful player management will be key as Maresca looks to balance competitiveness with player fitness.

Maresca offered insights on João Pedro in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, stressing the importance of full fitness for his forward line:

The physical part is important. When you are not 100%, it is difficult to compete.

He also highlighted Pedro’s creative role:

João’s going to score goals and give us assists. He is not going to score 20 goals a year. He’s a different striker profile.

Pedro is expected to feature in some capacity, though minutes may be managed carefully given the busy fixture schedule.

As reported by Softfootball, Liam Delap, who Maresca confirmed is out against Sunderland but nearing return for the Cup clash, is set for his return after a two-month hamstring injury. Maresca confirmed:

He’s back, he’s available for tomorrow. But 90 minutes, not yet. He’s been out for months and has to be managed well now.

Delap trained fully on October 27 and is likely to come off the bench, while Marc Guiu is expected to start up front.

Maresca also suggested that Enzo Fernández, Moisés Caicedo, and João Pedro could be rested to protect them for upcoming matches. Wolves, under Vítor Pereira, provide a challenging home test, with Chelsea needing to adapt quickly and execute efficiently to progress to the last eight. It’s worth noting that careful rotation and squad depth could be decisive in this knockout encounter.

Real Madrid Captain Dani Carvajal Sidelined Following Successful Knee Surgery

Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid’s captain and reliable right-back, had surgery on his right knee today. The operation was an arthroscopy, done by Dr Manuel Leyes with the club’s medical team watching closely, as posted on the club’s official X account. The goal was to remove some loose material in the joint. Carvajal got hurt during Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona, as reported by Softfootball.

As Softfootball previously reported, Carvajal’s injury was diagnosed after post-match tests revealed a loose body in the same knee where he suffered a serious ACL and LCL rupture in October 2024. That earlier setback sidelined him for nearly a full season, making this latest issue another unfortunate blow in what has been a turbulent two years for the veteran defender.

Now, Real Madrid has to rethink things at right-back. Fede Valverde stepped in during El Clásico, and he might keep that spot for a while. Trent Alexander-Arnold, recently back from injury, is another option. Losing Carvajal hurts, especially with big La Liga matches and Champions League games on the horizon.

Daniel Carvajal (Photo Credit: Daniel Carvajal via Instagram)

Everyone is hoping he bounces back strong. Carvajal brings experience, leadership, and calm at the back—a captain in every sense. His teammates will feel the gap. For now, Madrid must navigate the coming weeks without him. Slowly but surely, though, all eyes will be on his recovery. If all goes well, he will be back stronger, sharper, and ready to lead the defense again.

Garnacho Reveals Why He Joined Chelsea and How Maresca Convinced Him

Alejandro Garnacho has opened up about the reasons behind his move to Chelsea, explaining how a personal video call with manager Enzo Maresca played a major role in his decision. The Argentine winger completed a £40 million transfer from Manchester United in August 2025, a move reported by Softfootball.

Alejandro Garnacho (Photo Credit: Alejandro Garnacho via Instagram)
Alejandro Garnacho (Photo Credit: Alejandro Garnacho via Instagram)

Garnacho revealed, in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account, that Chelsea’s vision under Maresca was what ultimately convinced him to make the switch. He said:

When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s important also the style of play we have. He explained a lot to me in a video call with him.

That conversation gave him clarity on the tactical system Maresca wants to build, one that suits creative, fearless wingers capable of taking on defenders in one-on-one duels. It’s a style that has already been evident in recent games, including Chelsea’s defeat to Sunderland, where the Argentine scored his first Chelsea goal, as reported by Softfootball.

For Garnacho, joining Chelsea represents more than just a change of clubs, as it is a leap in his development. He said, describing the Blues as the best team in the world after watching their Club World Cup triumph:

It’s a big chance to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea.

He praised the club’s winning mentality, the competition for places, and the high standards that now define life at Stamford Bridge.

🚨🔵 Garnacho on why he joined Chelsea: “When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s important also the style of play we have. He explained a lot to me in a video call with him”.

The winger also admitted that a familiar face helped ease the transition. He said:

I spoke to Enzo Fernández during the summer… he had been asking, ‘When are you coming?’

Since arriving at Cobham, Garnacho has impressed staff with his work ethic and willingness to adapt. Sources close to the club say Maresca has already praised his attitude and commitment in training. The 20-year-old appears determined to repay the faith shown in him not just by Maresca, but by a club that believes he can become one of the Premier League’s most exciting wide players

Bayern Munich Aim to Extend Winning Streak in DFB Pokal Clash Against Cologne

Cologne take on Bayern Munich this Wednesday night at the RheinEnergieStadion, and to be honest, it’s a mountain to climb. The hosts have not beaten Bayern in over a decade, and with the visitors flying under Vincent Kompany, it’s looking like another long evening for the Billy Goats. Still, football’s beauty lies in surprises, and Cologne will cling to that hope.

Bayern, who recently beat Club Brugge 4–0 in the Champions League and edged Monchengladbach’s ten men in a comfortable 3–0 win, as reported by Softfootball, come into this with 16 straight wins across all competitions. They are not just winning; they are steamrolling. Kompany’s system looks balanced, ruthless, and, frankly, terrifying to play against.

For Cologne, it’s been rough lately. They have picked up only four points from their last five Bundesliga games and are still recovering from that gut-wrenching 96th-minute loss at Dortmund. No shots on target, no joy, no luck. And now Bayern. That’s football’s cruel sense of humour.

Team News

Cologne’s injury list remains long. Jan Thielmann, Luca Kilian (ACL), Rav van den Berg, and Timo Hübers are all sidelined, while Cenk Özkacar faces a late fitness test. Kilian’s absence in particular leaves them short of defensive options.

For Bayern, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies remain out, but Kompany confirmed several key returns in his pre-match press conference that was shared on the club’s official X account:

Things are looking good. Raphaël Guerreiro is back to full fitness, with Josip Stanišić and Serge Gnabry also back. The squad is where it needs to be going into the next three games.

Sporting Director Christoph Freund added that young goalkeeper Jonas Urbíg will start, praising his development:

He’s already at a very high level at a young age… He’s on the perfect path right now.

Possible Lineups

Cologne (3-4-2-1): Schwabe; Ozkacar, Martel, Heintz; Lund, Huseinbasic, Johannesson, Sebulonsen; El Mala, Kaminski; Bulter.

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Urbig; Bischof, Kim, Upamecano, Boey; Goretzka, Kimmich; Diaz, Gnabry, Olise; Jackson.

Softfootball’s Prediction

Kompany knows the dangers Cologne pose on the counter. He warned:

They are very alert and quick to close down space… incredibly dangerous on the break.

Still, Bayern’s depth and sharpness make them heavy favourites. Freund echoed that ambition:

Everyone wants to come back to Berlin — but we know we must earn it first.

Cologne will fight with spirit, but Bayern’s rhythm and quality should tell. Expect the visitors to control possession and punish defensive lapses late on.

Prediction: Cologne 0–3 Bayern Munich

Arsenal vs Brighton: Gunners Aim to Keep Momentum Despite Injury Woes

Arsenal face Brighton at the Emirates on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup fourth round, and it’s coming at a tricky time for Mikel Arteta’s side. The Gunners are unbeaten in ten matches and flying high in the Premier League, but the squad’s looking thinner than he’d like right now.

Their recent 1–0 win over Crystal Palace, which Softfootball described as a grind that champions find a way to win, summed up their character this season. Arsenal looked composed, even with several key absentees. Brighton, though, come into this tie licking their wounds after a 4–2 defeat at Old Trafford in a night where Softfootball highlighted Bruno Fernandes’ class in his 300th United appearance.

Team News

Arsenal’s injury list keeps growing. Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus are all out with mostly knee or ligament issues, and Jurriën Timber might not make it either. Truth be told, that’s a big blow for Arteta, but he’s managed worse. His team have kept five clean sheets in a row, showing just how organised they have become.

Expect Kepa Arrizabalaga to stay in goal behind Ben White, Christian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie, and 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly. Norgaard will anchor midfield with Eze and Merino. Up front, Ethan Nwaneri, Leandro Trossard, and Viktor Gyökeres should lead the attack.

Brighton aren’t in perfect shape either. Adam Webster, Solly March, and Jack Hinshelwood are long-term absentees, while doubts remain over Kaoru Mitoma, Joel Veltman, and Diego Gómez. Fabian Hurzeler might stick with Simon Adingra, Georginio Rutter, and Danny Welbeck, who’s always up for a big night in North London.

Possible Lineups

Arsenal (4-3-3): Kepa; White, Mosquera, Hincapie, Lewis-Skelly; Eze, Norgaard, Merino; Nwaneri, Gyokeres, Trossard.
Brighton (4-2-3-1): Steele; Wieffer, Dunk, Boscagli, De Cuyper; Milner, Ayari; Gomez, Rutter, Minteh; Welbeck.

Arsenal, via their official X account, posted Eberechi Eze’s first Premier League goal for Arsenal, a stunning volley against his former club Crystal Palace which marked a significant moment in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches and securing their 700th Premier League win.

Softfootball’s Prediction

There’s a sense this could go either way. Brighton have hit some wild form in the cup—those back-to-back 6–0 wins show their depth—but Arsenal at home are a different animal. They have got structure, patience, and that bit of swagger you only get from an unbeaten run.

Prediction: Arsenal 2–1 Brighton.

From Relegation to Resurgence: Sunderland’s Remarkable Rebuild

Few would have imagined Sunderland AFC being here today. After back-to-back relegations in 2017 and 2018, the club’s fall from grace felt endless. Fast-forward to October 2025, and the Black Cats are suddenly one of the Premier League’s brightest stories. Their recent 2–1 triumph over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which was reported by Softfootball, wasn’t just a win; it was a statement that Sunderland are no longer here to make up the numbers.

Chelsea vs Sunderland (Photo Credit: Softfootball Media)
Chelsea vs Sunderland (Photo Credit: Softfootball Media)

Speaking after that game, as reported by Softffoball, defender Chemsdine Talbi said they knew they could do the job, and they showed it. That quiet confidence says everything about this new Sunderland: fearless, well-drilled, and united under head coach Regis Le Bris.

Their story has been building quietly. Promotion from League One came in 2022 under Alex Neil, but things really changed when Le Bris arrived in 2024. He brought a clear identity of high pressing, bold football, and faith in young players. In May 2025, that belief paid off when Sunderland edged Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final, sealing their long-awaited return to the top flight.

Sunderland players (Photo Credit: Sunderland via X)

Now, they are not just surviving; they are competing. As of October 28, 2025, Sunderland sits 4th in the Premier League table, level on 17 points with Tottenham and just behind Bournemouth on goal difference. They have won five, drawn two, and lost only twice in nine matches, scoring 11 and conceding 7.

Veterans like Granit Xhaka and Reinildo Mandava have given balance to a side built around fearless youth. Sunderland, via their official X account, posted a feature on Reinildo Mandava praising teammate Granit Xhaka, highlighting an unexpected cultural and professional synergy on the pitch.

Reinildo: 'Granit has so much quality, not only on the pitch but off it. In training, he pushes us, he shares his experience – that’s very special. I’m very proud to play with him.' ❤ pic.twitter.com/Av5sqr2eMX

Xhaka, ever the leader, already has three assists to his name. Wilson Isidor has scored four times, while Talibi and Daniel Ballard have chipped in crucial goals. Nordi Mukiele has been rock solid at the back, and young keeper Robin Roefs keeps growing in confidence every week.

What’s happening at Sunderland feels genuine and not a lucky streak or a short-term miracle. It’s eight years of hard work, smart recruitment, and patient rebuilding finally paying off. The Stadium of Light feels alive again, louder, prouder, and full of belief.

From relegation despair to the edge of Champions League qualification, Sunderland’s journey is a reminder that football still rewards vision, courage, and a bit of stubborn faith.

Rio Ferdinand Defends Casemiro’s Pride and Form After Carragher’s Retirement Comment

Rio Ferdinand has come to the defence of Casemiro, praising the veteran midfielder’s resurgence and leadership at Manchester United after a difficult spell earlier in the season. Speaking on his Rio Presents podcast, as shared on the official X account, Ferdinand discussed how the 33-year-old has silenced critics through strong performances and determination.

Rio Ferdinand (Photo Credit: Rio Ferdinand via Instagram)
Rio Ferdinand (Photo Credit: Rio Ferdinand via Instagram)

His recent displays have been pivotal to United’s improved results, as seen in their 4–2 win against Brighton, which was reported by Softfootball, and the team has looked more balanced and composed whenever Casemiro starts.

The former United captain pointed out how Toby Collyer, a younger midfielder, was once selected ahead of Casemiro earlier this season, which could have damaged the Brazilian’s pride. Instead, he responded like a champion, re-establishing himself as a key figure in Rúben Amorim’s side. His commanding performances in games such as United’s dramatic win at Anfield, reported by Softfootball, have shown why experience still matters in top-level football.

Casemiro (Photo Credit: Casemiro via Instagram)
Casemiro (Photo Credit: Casemiro via Instagram)

Ferdinand said:

Casemiro is at the back of the pack. Toby’s being called upon before him. Do you know how embarrassing that would have been for Casemiro? But for him to roll his sleeves up and say, ‘No, no, no, it ain’t happening,’ that’s what fans wanted to see.

Ferdinand then referenced Jamie Carragher’s previous comments, where the pundit suggested Casemiro should consider retirement before his form declined. Rio countered:

That was highly disrespectful. You’re talking about a five-time Champions League winner. Players can lose confidence or form, but that doesn’t erase their quality or character.

Casemiro (Photo Credit: Casemiro via Instagram)
Casemiro (Photo Credit: Casemiro via Instagram)

Casemiro’s recent form supports Ferdinand’s view. United have recorded five wins, one draw, and just one loss in the Premier League when he starts as compared to a poor record in his absence. His leadership, communication, and ability to control midfield transitions have helped restore order to a side that had been struggling for consistency. The importance of experienced players like Casemiro cannot be overstated in maintaining balance and discipline within the team.

Watch the video below:

Casemiro I salute you man – silenced critics, rolled your sleeves up when others around you didn’t! Just remember this guy has won the Champions League 5 times pls 👀👏🏽 #Casemiro #MUFC https://t.co/8eecaTIK8X pic.twitter.com/rCKYJIc217

— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) October 27, 2025

For Ferdinand, Casemiro’s response is the perfect example of resilience. When faced with doubt, he chose to fight, and in doing so, reminded everyone why class, professionalism, and pride still define him.

Rio Ferdinand Explains Why Cunha and Mbeumo Are a Nightmare for Centre-Backs

In the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents, shared on the official X account, the former Manchester United captain dissected how Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo caused chaos for Liverpool’s defence during the 2–1 victory at Anfield. As reported by Softfootball, the win—sealed by a late Harry Maguire header—marked United’s third straight league triumph under Rúben Amorim, showcasing a new attacking sharpness led by Cunha and Mbeumo.

Ferdinand highlighted how both forwards drifted into half-spaces, forcing Liverpool’s centre-backs into uncomfortable positions and breaking their defensive rhythm. Their constant interchanging made it difficult for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté to decide whether to track tightly or hold their line.

MBEUMOOOOOOO 💥

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) October 20, 2025

Mbeumo, who Softfootball reported to be happy to get himself a brace in a 4–2 win against Brighton, has been electric since joining United, combining pace, precision, and positional fluidity that perfectly complements Cunha’s creative instincts.

Ferdinand said on his podcast:

Centre-halves don’t really want to go wide or step into midfield. You’ve got to take short, sharp steps in there — big centre-halves hate that. These guys drag you into those areas but still threaten to run in behind, so you’re constantly second-guessing. You’re thinking, ‘Is he pulling me here to spin behind me, or to get the ball at his feet?’ It’s mental warfare for defenders.

Hard work ✅
Quality ✅

Matheus Cunha was everywhere on Sunday 🔋

— Manchester United (@ManUtd) October 20, 2025

He went on to describe how United’s shape pins opponents down:

Mbeumo comes inside from the right, Cunha drifts from the left, and suddenly full-backs are stuck. Amad’s pushed up, the full-back can’t help, and the centre-half’s caught in no man’s land. You can’t win — that’s what makes them so dangerous.

— Rio Ferdinand Presents (@RioMeets) October 24, 2025

With Amorim’s system giving both players licence to roam and combine, Cunha and Mbeumo have added unpredictability and pace to United’s front line — qualities that make them a nightmare for even the best defenders in the league.

Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid: Simeone’s Side Chase Redemption in Seville

There’s something special brewing in Seville this Tuesday night as Real Betis welcome Atletico Madrid to the Estadio de La Cartuja for a pivotal Matchday 10 encounter. Both sides are level on 16 points, sitting fifth and sixth, respectively, and while it’s still early in the season, this feels like a match that could shape their European hopes.

For Atletico Madrid, the timing couldn’t be trickier. Just days ago, they were humbled 4–0 by Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, as reported by Softfootball. Diego Simeone’s men looked lost that night, and the coach will expect a fiery response in Seville.

Julian Alvarez (Photo Credit: Atletico Madrid via X)

Julian Alvarez, who’s been sensational with eight goals and three assists, could be key once again. As reported by Softfootball, Pep Guardiola recently spoke about the Argentine forward, saying that Alvarez deserved to play more, and he’s surely proving that now.

Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis are quietly flying. They battled to a 2–2 draw with Villarreal, then ground out a 0–0 away at Genk in the Europa League—stretching their unbeaten run to eight matches. Betis look confident, and their home form has been superb, with just one defeat in their last twelve La Liga home fixtures.

Atletico Madrid: Johnny Cardoso is doubtful, but Koke, Oblak, and Gimenez are ready to go. Simeone might not change much tactically despite that Arsenal defeat.

Softfootball’s Prediction

Betis have not lost in their last eight and look sharp at home. Atletico’s away form of no wins in six remains a concern. Expect intensity, maybe a bit of chaos. Betis might just snatch it.

Prediction: Real Betis 2–1 Atletico Madrid.

Arne Slot Frustrated as Liverpool’s Form Collapses After Fourth Straight League Defeat

Liverpool’s 2025–26 Premier League campaign has taken a worrying turn under head coach Arne Slot. After starting the season with five straight wins, the Reds have now lost four consecutive league matches, and most recently Brentford, who beat them 3–2 as reported by Softfootball. The slump equals their total number of defeats from the entire previous season, signalling a serious regression for the reigning champions.

Slot admitted the performance at the Gtech Community Stadium was up there among his most disappointing since taking charge, as posted on the club’s official YouTube account. He said:

You are always hoping for a better result. But I was also hoping and expecting a better performance, because the performance was far from what we are used to.

Despite goals from Milos Kerkez and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool could not recover after conceding early to Dango Ouattara and Kevin Schade. The manager conceded that basic errors and poor duelling cost his side dearly, saying:

It’s hard to win a game of football if the other team wins more duels and more second balls than you.

Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool (Photo Credit: Liverpool via X)
Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool (Photo Credit: Liverpool via X)

His assessment echoed that of captain Virgil van Dijk, who, as reported by Softfootball, said that everyone has to look in the mirror, including himself.

The Dutch coach also revealed that Liverpool spent their final training session focusing solely on defending long throws from Brentford’s Kayode. He said:

It’s the only thing we did yesterday on the training pitch. Yet we conceded from that after five minutes.

Watch the video below:

Slot admitted that tactical preparation alone means little without concentration and communication, insisting that defending is a collective job of all 11 players.

Frustrated but not defeated, Slot urged patience, noting that summer changes and a difficult run of five away fixtures from their last six have affected rhythm. He said:

I didn’t expect it to go with four losses in a row. But we have to stay together, work harder, and find our answers quickly.

Virgil van Dijk Urges Reflection and Unity After Liverpool’s 2025 Struggles Deepen

Following Liverpool’s poor run of form, captain Virgil van Dijk has delivered a candid and introspective message to his teammates and fans alike. The Dutch defender admitted that everyone in the squad must take responsibility, saying:

Everyone has to look in the mirror, including myself.

Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool (Photo Credit: Liverpool via X)

His comments come amid what one can describe as one of Liverpool’s toughest spells in recent seasons, with four losses in their last five Premier League matches. Reflecting on the defensive lapses that cost them against United and again in the 3–2 defeat at Brentford as reported by Softfootball, Van Dijk pointed to the team’s collective errors. He said:

We worked so hard to get back into the game, but if you concede a second goal like that, that’s the disappointing part.

The skipper admitted the Reds have been too rushed in possession and are making wrong decisions, leaving them exposed in transitions, a problem Arne Slot’s side appeared to fix briefly during their 5–1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League, as reported by Softfootball.

Liverpool Players (Photo Credit: Liverpool via X)

Van Dijk’s message, however, went beyond tactics. The 34-year-old urged unity within the dressing room and called on fans to stand by the team during this rough patch, as posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account. He said, reminding supporters of last season’s title celebrations at Anfield:

It’s not only us as players but also together with our fans and everyone who wants us to win.

🚨 Van Dijk: “Everyone has to look in the mirror including myself”.

“I am sure we will get out of this. But we won't do it just by talking about it. We will try to improve”.

“The fans who were celebrating with us last season should stand by us now”. pic.twitter.com/hOhGZRqeoJ

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 26, 2025

His appeal aligns with his earlier remarks in a Softfootball feature, where he warned that this campaign would test Liverpool’s mentality more than ever.

Despite the growing criticism from pundits like Jamie Carragher and Craig Burley, Van Dijk remains steadfast:

We won’t get out of this just by talking about it. We will try to improve.

With key Champions League and Premier League fixtures on the horizon, his leadership and composure could be crucial in guiding Liverpool back to stability.

Bruno Fernandes Puts 2026 World Cup First as He Reaffirms Manchester United Commitment

Bruno Fernandes has cooled talk of a 2026 summer transfer, insisting his full focus is on Manchester United until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Speaking at Carrington on October 24, 2025, the captain said no discussions about his future will happen before the tournament. His remarks echo earlier reports from Softfootball, which revealed the Portuguese star’s determination to remain loyal to the club despite heavy speculation.

Fernandes stated firmly in an interview posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

My focus is Manchester United. My agent knows my way of working. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t speak to anyone.

The 31-year-old also dismissed rumours of a pre-arranged deal with a Saudi club, clarifying:

If the club has done that agreement, it wasn’t made with me. I haven’t spoken with anyone.

The midfielder’s comments come as United prepare for another crucial league fixture, part of their push for a fourth straight win under Rúben Amorim, as earlier highlighted by Softfootball.

Last summer, Al Hilal reportedly offered between £80m and £100m to sign Fernandes, with a four-year deal worth €25m per year — triple his current wage. However, the United skipper turned down the move after speaking with Amorim, Omar Berrada, and Jason Wilcox. He even sought advice from Cristiano Ronaldo, who told him to value legacy over money. Fernandes added:

My family feels very well here. My kids love school. We feel at home.

Marcus Rashford Shares His Calm Pre-Match Routine as Barcelona Star Prepares for El Clásico

Marcus Rashford has shared a glimpse into his calm and methodical pre-match routine in a video posted by Barcelona on their official X account, offering fans a more personal look at how he prepares for game day. The England international, who joined Barcelona after a turbulent Manchester United spell, has been open about his renewed focus and mindset since moving to Spain, as Softfootball reported about his revived confidence and joy for the game.

In the video, Rashford begins with a typical morning rhythm. He said with a grin:

I’ll probably wake up maybe 45 minutes before breakfast, open the curtains, relax for a minute, take a shower, then go for breakfast. I’ll have some porridge and eggs.

The forward explained that after team meetings and tactical briefings, he returns to his room to rest — sometimes napping, sometimes just lying back. He laughed, prompting the interviewer’s surprise:

Then I’ll probably take another shower.

That light moment quickly turned into talk of nutrition. He added:

We’ll have our pre-match meal — maybe some pasta or a bit of protein, something like that.

Rashford admitted he hadn’t eaten lunch yet, before noting that music and the team bus journey usually round off his preparation.

Rashford’s attention to detail and routine discipline reflect a mindset shaped by years under elite managers — a drive inspired partly by Cristiano Ronaldo’s professionalism, as Softfootball once reported. With Raphinha sidelined, as reported by Softfootball, Rashford’s consistency will be vital as Barcelona prepare for El Clásico.

Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest: Dyche Returns as Cherries Target Another Home Win

Sean Dyche makes his Premier League return on Sunday, 26 October 2025, as Nottingham Forest visit high-flying Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. It follows a dream start to life at the City Ground, where Forest claimed a 2–0 win over Porto in the Europa League — their first victory since August, as reported by Softfootball. It was also their first European triumph since 1995, a moment Dyche later described as one he had waited a long time to experience.

The 54-year-old’s appointment, as reported by Softfootball, makes him Forest’s third permanent manager this season. Now he faces the daunting task of lifting a side sitting in the relegation zone after four defeats in their last five league games.

Nottingham Forest, via their official X account, posted a video of the new manager discussing soaking in the “Mull of Kintyre” rendition and contrasts it with past playing struggles, underscoring football’s fleeting successes.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, continue to thrive under Andoni Iraola. The Cherries are fourth in the table with 15 points from eight matches (W4 D3 L1) and remain unbeaten in seven league outings. Their thrilling 3–3 draw at Crystal Palace last weekend saw 19-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi bag a brace, while Ryan Christie added the third before a late equaliser spoiled the party.

Iraola’s men to edge it, though Dyche’s new-found resilience could make this tighter than expected.

Mikel Arteta on Arsenal’s Set-Piece Mastery: I See the Game in a Different Way

Mikel Arteta has again underlined his evolving football philosophy, insisting he doesn’t separate open play from set pieces but views the sport as one continuous flow. Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on October 26, 2025, the Gunners’ boss said, as posted by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account:

Look, I don’t see the game in open play and set pieces. I see the game in a different way.

His comments come as Arsenal prepare for another crucial London derby, having already extended their beautiful start to the season, as reported by Softfootball.

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 25, 2025

Arteta believes football does not stop, stressing that transitions between phases are connected. That belief has driven Arsenal’s remarkable form this term. The Gunners have scored 10 set-piece goals in just eight league games — the earliest any team has hit double digits in Premier League history. Their precision was also evident in the 4–0 demolition of Atlético Madrid in the Champions League, as reported by Softfootball.

Arteta’s focus on dead-ball dominance started a decade ago. He revealed:

Ten years ago, I said it’s a massive thing to do. I started to have a vision, implement a method, and surround myself with the best people to deliver that.

That’s how Nicolas Jover, Arsenal’s set-piece coach, became a vital figure in the project.

Despite critics saying Arsenal rely too heavily on set plays — with only five open-play goals this season — Arteta remains unmoved. He said:

No, not at all. Football’s not open play and set pieces. It’s one whole game.

Gabriel Magalhães (Photo Credit: Arsenal via X)
Gabriel Magalhães (Photo Credit: Arsenal via X)

With just three league goals conceded, Arsenal boast the best defensive record in the Premier League. Arteta believes that’s no coincidence. He said:

The teams with the best defensive records, most of the time, win the title. The stronger we are with the foundations, the more probability we have of winning.

His message is clear — for Arsenal, set pieces are not shortcuts; they are part of a bigger, flowing idea. Football, as Arteta sees it, is never static. It’s always learning, always moving.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace: Gunners Eye Another Win in London Derby Showdown

Premier League leaders Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 26 October 2025, for a London derby that promises fireworks. The Gunners, under Mikel Arteta, have made a blistering start to the campaign, winning six of eight of their opening league matches and extending their dominance in Europe with a 4–0 thrashing of Atlético Madrid in midweek.

In that victory, Gabriel Magalhães opened the scoring, and Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres was again decisive—a performance that led Ole Gunnar Solskjær to hail him as Arsenal’s fox in the box, as reported by Softfootball. That triumph also marked Arsenal’s 100th UEFA Champions League win—a milestone Softfootball described as a statement of power and precision.

Arsenal, via their official YouTube account, posted Mikel Arteta’s pre-match press conference for their upcoming Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, highlighting his focus on maintaining a defensive record of just three goals conceded in 12 games.

Watch the video below:

Confidence is sky-high in north London, but Arteta will demand focus against a Palace side capable of springing surprises. The Eagles, led by Oliver Glasner, have shown flashes of brilliance — notably Jean-Philippe Mateta’s hat-trick against Bournemouth — yet their form remains inconsistent with just one win from their last five outings.

For Arsenal, Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Noni Madueke remain long-term absentees. Magalhães is a doubt after limping off against Atlético, while Jurriën Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are also under assessment. Arteta admitted while providing the latest injury update as posted on the team’s official X account:

Gabi had to leave the pitch with an issue… We’ll see how it evolves in the next 24 hours.

Crystal Palace are without Chadi Riad (ACL), Cheick Doucouré (knee), and Caleb Kporha, though Tyrick Mitchell is expected to return to the starting XI.

Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Mosquera, Calafiori; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyökeres, Martinelli.
Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Pino, Sarr; Mateta.

Softfootball’s Prediction

Arsenal 2–1 Crystal Palace.
The Gunners’ defensive solidity and home form—unbeaten in six at the Emirates—should edge them through, though Palace’s pace on transitions could cause a scare or two. Expect a lively clash, a few nervy moments, and probably another Gyökeres goal to keep Arsenal’s perfect start alive.

Messi’s Brace Fires Inter Miami Past Nashville in MLS Playoff Opener

Lionel Messi once again proved the difference for Inter Miami, scoring twice in a 3–1 win over Nashville SC at Chase Stadium on Friday night to give his side a 1–0 advantage in their first-round MLS playoff series. The Argentine, who was presented with the 2025 MLS Golden Boot before kickoff—an award he earned after topping the league’s scoring chart with 29 goals—wasted little time showing why he’s still the game’s biggest name.

Lionel Messi (Photo Credit: Inter Miami via X)

The forward has been in unstoppable form lately, netting a hat-trick just six days earlier against the same opponent on the final matchday of the regular season. The night carried an extra layer of celebration after Inter Miami confirmed Messi’s new three-year contract extension, keeping him in Florida until 2028, as reported by Softfootball.

If there was any pressure, Messi didn’t show it. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute, leaping to head home a perfectly measured cross from Luis Suárez after a clever buildup involving Sergio Busquets and Rodrigo De Paul. That goal sent the home fans into a roar and gave Miami the platform they needed to control the match.

The hosts looked confident from then on. Tadeo Allende doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, ghosting in at the far post to nod in Ian Fray’s delivery, with Messi again involved in the move. Nashville rarely looked threatening, managing just two shots on target all evening, while Miami dictated the tempo through Busquets’ calm passing and De Paul’s energy in midfield. The visitors’ best chance before the break came from Jacob Shaffelburg, but his low strike was easily stopped by Rios Novo.

As posted on the club’s official X account, Messi then sealed the win deep into stoppage time (90+6′) when Nashville keeper Joe Willis spilled Jordi Alba’s cross, leaving the Argentine to calmly slot home his second. It was another statement moment from the captain, who continues to shape MLS to his rhythm. Hany Mukhtar’s late free kick in the 101st minute made it 3–1, but it did little to change the narrative—this was Messi’s night, once again.

The victory puts Inter Miami one win away from the next round, with the return leg set for November 1 in Tennessee. As Softfootball earlier noted, the Herons already had Nashville’s number in their last meeting, and this performance only reaffirmed their dominance. For Messi, it was business as usual — two goals, total control, and another step closer to adding an MLS Cup title to his glittering collection.
