In just a few days, another new year will arrive. As usual, it will come with a lot of deeply reflective questions: Will the world ever find peace? How can economic equality be achieved? Will there be another “Fast and the Furious” movie?

But for the Kansas City Chiefs, it has increasingly become obvious: Will Travis Kelce retire?

Kelce has stayed mum about his plan after the season, but with the Chiefs failing to qualify for the playoffs, the early exit means more time for him to think. But it would also be an unideal way to end his career. No one wants to retire on a losing note.

One of Kelce’s longtime teammates, Chris Jones, said he is not ready to see the 36-year-old tight end walk away just yet.

“Damn, man. We’ve been through so much together. I hope he gives it one more year, just one more year,” said Jones, as reported by ESPN’s Nate Taylor.

Fans pondered whether it was Kelce’s last game at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day against the Denver Broncos, as he seemed to soak up every moment when he was introduced. His salute to the fans also felt like goodbye.

The Chiefs lost to the Broncos, 20-13. Kelce logged five receptions for 36 yards.

Jones and Kelce have played together since 2016, winning three championships together.

Aside from falling short of the playoffs, the season-ending injury to Patrick Mahomes, one of Kelce’s closest friends on the Chiefs, also dampened what should have been a memorable year.

Many will be eager to hear Kelce’s decision in the coming weeks, and Jones will probably be among the first ones to know.

Chiefs’ Andy Reid puts off Travis Kelce retirement talks for ‘another time’

Chiefs’ Andy Reid puts off Travis Kelce retirement talks for ‘another time’ appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid chose to be slient. He wasn’t ready to open the door on the question everyone was asking after Thursday night’s gutting loss. That followed the Chiefs’ 20-13 defeat to the Denver Broncos in Week 17. Reid brushed aside speculation about whether it marked Travis Kelce’s final game at Arrowhead Stadium.

“We’ll talk another time about all of that,” Reid said. He chose reflection over finality. That’s after a loss that dropped Kansas City to 6-10. It officially eliminated them from playoff contention with one game remaining.

The scene carried unmistakable weight. Kelce, visibly emotional, lingered on the field after the final whistle. He exchanged hugs and handshakes with teammates and Broncos players alike. He led the Chiefs with five catches for 36 yards and had a chance to help force overtime on the final drive. Sadly, the comeback attempt fell short. Cameras repeatedly cut to Taylor Swift and Donna Kelce watching anxiously from the stands. That amplified the sense that this night could carry long-term meaning.

On the field, the loss was emblematic of Kansas City’s frustrating season. Protection issues and stalled drives plagued the offense. Meanwhile, Denver capitalized on timely stops to secure the upset. Off the field, the result sharpened the focus on what comes next.

Of course, Kelce’s resume already reads like a Hall of Fame induction speech. Over 13 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, he redefined the tight end position with historic production and three Super Bowl titles. While recent seasons have shown natural decline, his leadership and presence remain undeniable.

Reid’s decision to defer the conversation buys time. That said, with Kansas City’s dynasty era wobbling and Kelce noncommittal about 2026, the question isn’t going away. It’s only waiting for ‘another time.’

Chiefs’ Chris Oladokun goes full Patrick Mahomes in wild sequence

If you squinted hard enough at your TV screen on Christmas Day, you might have thought Patrick Mahomes was back under center for the Kansas City Chiefs.

During the Chiefs’ holiday showdown against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium, quarterback Chris Oladokun, starting in place of the injured Mahomes and Gardner Minshew, delivered a play so chaotic and magical it could have been copyrighted by No. 15 himself.

Late in the game with the score knotted up, Kansas City faced a 2nd and 7 from their own 30-yard line. The pocket collapsed almost instantly, forcing Oladokun to scramble for his life. As he rolled out, disaster nearly struck; the ball slipped from his grasp, bouncing dangerously on the turf.

In a moment of pure panic-turned-poise, Oladokun scooped the ball back up without breaking stride, kept his eyes downfield, and fired a strike to a wide-open JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The completion moved the chains and sent Arrowhead into a frenzy. It was the kind of improvisation that has defined the Chiefs’ offense for years, except this time, it came from the third-string signal-caller making his first career start.

Oladokun, who had already thrown his first career touchdown pass to rookie Brashard Smith earlier in the game, showed remarkable resilience against a stout Broncos defense. While the stat sheet won’t show the heart-stopping nature of the fumble-recovery-throw sequence, it was undoubtedly the highlight of the night.

For a team decimated by injuries, with Mahomes and Minshew both sidelined, moments like this provide a glimmer of hope. Oladokun might not be the two-time MVP, but for one wild play on Christmas, he did a pretty convincing impression.

The smoke billowed and the lights flashed as Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce was introduced at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. While it remains unclear if it would be his last holiday game, one thing is for sure: Kelce will always miss the feeling of stepping on the field.

The Chiefs hosted the Denver Broncos on Thursday amid the rumors that Kelce will retire at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old tight end has evaded the matter, reiterating that he will announce the decision at the right time. But with the Chiefs already out of contention for the playoffs, many believe that it only made the decision easier for Kelce.

But in the meantime, Kelce soaked up every moment as he entered their home stadium against the Broncos.

Could this be the last time Travis Kelce is introduced at Arrowhead Stadium?

Fans took to X to express their admiration for the 11-time Pro Bowler, who has definitely made his mark with the Chiefs.

“The salute said it all. I love you, man!” said @BALLBAKEDTAKES.

“Retirement at Arrowhead would be heavy,” added @remiaxyz.

“Retire, marry your girl, and get fitted for your HOF jacket. Great career,” posted @shhhantell.

“If this really is the end of the Kelce era in KC, is he officially the greatest tight end to ever play the game?” asked @MaaduOfficial.

“One of the best to ever do it. Love you, Mr. Travis,” posted @quinnwillwin2.

Kelce helped the Chiefs win three championships, with many regarding him as the greatest tight end in league history.

Fans also believe that retirement has become more appealing for Kelce after his engagement with pop icon Taylor Swift in August.

TNF Same Game Parlay: Broncos @ Chiefs

The NFL’s prime-time Christmas Day matchup between the Broncos and Chiefs certainly lost some of its luster when Patrick Mahomes went down with a season-ending injury, but there are still reasons to think Thursday’s contest could be entertaining – at least from a betting perspective!

If looking for a fun way to sweat Thursday’s holiday action, I have put together a three-leg same game parlay (+650) for the evening’s game. As always, it is worth noting that straight wagers are a far more profitable long-term betting strategy than parlays. Still, parlays can be a fun way to get some extra action on a game to make things interesting!

Check this one out, or visit our Same-Game Parlay Tool to build one for yourself.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs Same Game Parlay

Leg 1: Evan Engram Under 3.5 Receptions

-174

During Denver’s last three games, Evan Engram has played only 74 snaps, compared to 125 snaps for Adam Trautman. During that span, Engram hasn’t seen more than 4 targets or played more than 28 snaps.

The Chiefs defense is going to be in rough shape Thursday, with so many players on injured reserve, but Engram simply hasn’t been on the field enough to justify this number being so high.

Leg 2: Chris Oladokun Over 29.5 Pass Attempts

-108

Kansas City hasn’t had an explosive run in either of the last two games, and that doesn’t figure to change much during their final couple of contests, given how much of their offensive line is on injured reserve. Thursday in particular, they will have to face a strong Denver run defense. The likely consequence of having a non-existent rushing attack against a good defensive front is that Chris Oladokun should be very busy through the air on Christmas Day – especially if the Chiefs are facing a negative gamescript, which is expected.

Leg 3: RJ Harvey 70-Plus Rushing Yards

+174

In Week 16, Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears combined to gain 154 rushing yards on 34 attempts (4.53 yards per carry) against the injury-depleted Chiefs defense. On Christmas, RJ Harvey will get his turn to see if he can put up some gaudy numbers.

Harvey has been the clear lead option for Denver’s ground attack since J.K. Dobbins went down with a season-ending injury in Week 10. Since that point, Harvey has received 67 of the 94 attempts that have gone to the team’s running backs, including 16 of 20 red zone carries.

If Harvey can break a big run or two Thursday, he could be well on his way to cashing his alts.

NFL's Most Dominant Team Of Late Is Moving To Another State

The Kansas City Chiefs, who have played in five Super Bowls and won three of them since 2020, announced Monday they will leave their longtime home at Arrowhead Stadium for a new, domed stadium that will be built across the Kansas-Missouri state line and be ready for the start of the 2031 season.

The announcement came shortly after a council of top Kansas lawmakers voted unanimously inside a packed room at the state Capitol to allow the state to issue a little more than $2.4 billion in bonds to cover about 60% of the cost of the new stadium, a new training facility and retail and entertainment space.

The bonds will be paid off with state sales and liquor tax revenues generated in a defined area around it.

“The location of Chiefs games will change,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said after the meeting, “but some things won’t change. Our fans will still be the loudest in the NFL, our games will still be the best place in the world to tailgate, and our players and coaches will be ready to compete for championships, because on the field or off the field, we are big dreamers, and we’re ready for the next chapter.”

The Chiefs intend their $3 billion stadium project to be built in Kansas City, Kansas, near the Kansas Speedway and a retail district known as The Legends. The area includes Children’s Mercy Park, the home of MLS club Sporting Kansas City, and Legends Field, the home of the Kansas City Monarchs minor league baseball team.

The Chiefs also plan to build their $300 million practice facility in the Kansas City-metro suburb of Olathe, Kansas. They’ve committed to at least $700 million in other development.

“Today’s announcement is truly historic. Actually, it’s a little surreal,” Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said. “Today’s announcement will touch the lives of Kansans for generations to come. Today’s announcement is a total game-changer for our state.

“We have always been Chiefs fans,” Kelly said. “Now we are Chiefs family.”

State officials also predict that more than 20,000 new construction jobs will be created.

While the final location for the stadium has not been decided, Chiefs president Mark Donovan said it would seat about 65,000, roughly 10,000 fewer fans than Arrowhead Stadium. That follows a trend across professional sports of building stadiums and arenas that have fewer overall seats but more amenities, luxury seating and premium spaces.

Sports: NFL Star Violently Confronts Fan — For Reportedly Odd Reason

“We have a lot of work to do. We’re still early in the process,” Hunt said. “In the months ahead, we will hire an architect and contractor and get to work on the five-plus-year timeline to build a new stadium.”

The move by the Chiefs is a massive blow to Missouri lawmakers and Gov. Mike Kehoe, who had been working on their own funding package to prevent a third NFL franchise and the second in a decade from leaving their borders; the Rams left St. Louis for Los Angeles in part due to their inability to secure funding to help replace The Dome at America’s Center.

Kehoe had backed a special legislative session in June to authorize bonds covering up to 50% of the cost of new or renovated stadiums, plus up to $50 million of tax credits for each stadium and unspecified aid from local governments.

“They thought new and shiny was better than old and reliable,” Kehoe said after the Chiefs’ announcement, adding that the club was in discussions with Missouri officials about staying at a renovated or rebuilt Arrowhead Stadium as late as last week.

“We won’t give up. We’ll look for cracks in the armor and find out if there’s a Missouri Show-Me solution through our sports act.”

Ex-Patriots QB Pushes To Replace Patrick Mahomes Through Season’s End

The Kansas City Chiefs are grappling with several quarterback injuries as the season comes to a close. Patrick Mahomes is sidelined with a torn ACL, and backup Gardner Minshew also suffered an injury during the loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Amid all the quarterback injuries, former Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel took to X on Sunday night to share his thoughts on wanting to return to play for the Chiefs.

“Seeing a lot of people mentioning me going to the Chiefs. Arm’s loose. Phone line’s open,” Cassel wrote.

Seeing a lot people mentioning me going to the Chiefs. Arm’s loose. Phone line’s open.

— Matt Cassel (@M_Cassel16) December 22, 2025

Cassel played for the Chiefs from 2009 to 2012, finishing with a 19-28 record. He began his NFL career with the New England Patriots, where he gained recognition during the 2008 season. That year, he started 15 games while Tom Brady was sidelined for nearly the entire season due to a torn ACL.

Cassel hasn’t played in the NFL since 2018, and at 43, there’s a strong likelihood he won’t be making a comeback. However, the Colts recently signed 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers, which could open the door for Cassel’s return.

The Chiefs will face the Broncos on Christmas Night, a game that could hold significant implications for Patriots fans. If Denver comes up short, it could bring New England one step closer to securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Josh Allen, Travis Kelce Best Drake Maye In Late Pro Bowl Voting Surge

Pretty much everything’s gone right for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye this season.

The second-year pro is an MVP contender, his Patriots clinched a playoff berth in Week 16 and the team is in good position to win their first AFC East crown in six years.

Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills, meanwhile, lost four of seven games during the middle of the season and may finish as the division’s runner-up and things have been even worse for Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs.

Kelce has posted mediocre numbers and the three-time defending AFC champions have not only been eliminated from playoff contention, but two-time MVP signal-caller Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 15.

Allen and Kelce did pass Maye atop the 2026 Pro Bowl Games fan voting leaderboard, however, as the final tallies were revealed on Monday.

Maye dominated the voting up until the final hours, leading all players in the race for the top spot until the polls closed at midnight on Dec. 15.

The North Carolina product finished in third place with 259,978 votes, while Allen was in second at 263,127 and Kelce garnered 420,383 tallies.

The Chiefs tight end’s finish wasn’t a shock, as he was the top vote-getter last season and is engaged to music superstar Taylor Swift.

The AFC and NFC rosters will be revealed at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday.

Travis Kelce Avoids Media Again After Titans Loss, Faces Backlash

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is facing backlash following his post-game conduct after the team’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. This comes after the team has already gone through a series of losses and been eliminated from the NFL playoff race.

Travis Kelce’s post-game behaviour prompts backlash

The Chiefs’ frustrating season reached a new low with a loss to the two-win Titans, and Travis Kelce was notably absent from the post-game media scrum. While it was unclear if he actively declined requests, his absence has continued a recent trend of avoiding reporters after losses. This behavior violates the NFL’s media policy, which mandates player availability, and has placed Kelce under a spotlight for a lack of accountability during the team’s struggles.

Chiefs reporter Pete Mundo publicly called out the tight end. “WILL TRAVIS KELCE TALK TO THE MEDIA AFTER THIS LOSS? -200 odds he passes, per usual, after a loss. Hope I’m wrong,” Mundo wrote on X. Other critics argued that a team leader should face the music during difficult times, showing responsibility to fans and the media alike. While some defended Kelce by pointing to his weekly podcast and later-in-the-week media sessions, the criticism for his immediate post-game silence has grown louder.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk previously warned that Kelce could face league discipline if the pattern continues. “Players have been fined in the past, if/when the failure to comply with media obligations becomes chronic, and if the media covering the team complains about it,” Florio wrote. “Sometimes, the media doesn’t make waves” (via PFT).

Additionally, Travis Kelce’s post-game silence comes during a period of intense speculation about his future. He returned for the final year of his contract, reportedly driven by a desire to respond to the Chiefs’ blowout Super Bowl loss. Instead, the season unraveled, with Kansas City eliminated from playoff contention in Week 15 and quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffering a season-ending ACL injury.
