Samsung’s Finder and Now Brief are improving in One UI 9
Samsung’s Android 17-based One UI 9 may expand the Finder functionality and add the Driving Insights to Now Brief. These changes will follow the expansive list of design tweaks and features in the next major Galaxy update testing.
More Finder flexibility
One UI 8.5 dropped the legacy S Finder identity for a simpler Finder term. It wasn’t just a simplification, but a well-minded preparation to expand the functionality.
New findings suggest that Samsung’s Finder feature in One UI 9 will add Google as an option alongside the native system-wide Galaxy search functionality.
Users will be able to pick either Samsung’s native device search or Google on the home screen. The best part: you could be able to have both together on the homescreen.

Driving Insights
Samsung is working on a new app called Driving Insights to expand Now Brief content.
As discovered by AndroidAuthority, Samsung’s Driving Insights app will track your precise location, using AI to give you feedback about your perceived driving patterns, generating weekly, personalized summaries.
The unreleased app’s brief description reads “See your habits and patterns at a glance” to “help you build better driving habits.” The app will rely on AI and your phone’s sensors to gauge various aspects of your driving.
Weekly reports will provide feedback about your habits, such as:
- This week, you drove in a defensive style. Steady and cautious—keep it up!
- This week, your driving had a dynamic pattern. Try to keep speed and steering smooth for consistency.
- This week, you did a lot of long-distance driving. Make sure to watch out for drowsy driving and take breaks every now and then.
- This week, your driving was practical and balanced. Good balance of safety and efficiency.
- This week, your driving showed a spirited style. Keep an eye on smooth acceleration and braking for even safer trips.
Samsung has started internal Beta testing of One UI 9 software. The public rollout of One UI 8.5 started on May 6, with expansion planned for May 11. Samsung also has One UI 9.5 in its pipeline for 2027 flagships.
