Rachel DeMita raises concerns over Caitlin Clark’s health
The Indiana Fever fell to the Dallas Wings on Saturday in both teams’ 2026 season opener. Fans were excited for the 2024 number one overall pick, Fever guard Caitlin Clark, to make a healthy return to the court after missing all but 13 games last season due to injury.
Unfortunately, Clark left the floor several times during the game, and Rachel DeMita isn’t convinced there are no overarching issues surrounding Clark’s health.
“We did see her going to the back multiple times, and it’s peculiar. It’s strange. I’m not going to sit here and spread a rumor that Caitlin Clark is injured because we just don’t know,” DeMita said on the latest episode of her Courtside Club show. “However, I haven’t seen many players go to the back multiple times unless they are doing maintenance on an injury or on something that is actually bothering them.”
No Need To Panic
For the Fever’s part, head coach Stephanie White is assuring everyone that everything is okay.
“I know everybody’s focused on Caitlin Clark, but our other players are going back to get regular maintenance, too. It’s just something you’re going to consistently see,” White said.
“I think it’s just part of maintaining the body,” White added after Saturday’s loss. “… I mean, look, when we’re all really young, we don’t learn proper mechanics, and then it doesn’t get exposed until something happens, and we’re trying to get her body mechanically the way it needs to go.
“This is gonna be an ongoing thing, and not just her. We’ve had multiple players who have gone back, and we don’t have a blue tent, right, but they’re gonna go back and get it adjusted and make sure that the body’s working.”
The Fever are off until Wednesday night, when they’ll face the Los Angeles Sparks in their first road game of the season. So, Clark should have plenty of time to get her body right.
