Samsung’s One UI 8.5 to bring back popular notification management feature
Samsung is currently preparing to release One UI 8.5, based on Android 16. The update will bring a fresh design, new features, and better ways to manage notifications. Now, new information reveals that One UI 8.5 will bring back a useful Samsung NotiStar feature.
In One UI 7, Samsung NotiStar allowed users to lock important notifications so they wouldn’t be accidentally cleared. It meant that even if you tapped “Clear all,” important alerts would stay visible. However, Samsung removed this feature in One UI 8, leaving many users disappointed.
Now, a Samsung community moderator has confirmed that the feature will come back in One UI 8.5. It means that users will once again be able to protect important notifications from being dismissed.

As One UI 8.5 is currently under development, and if you don’t want to wait, there is a temporary solution. For that, you have to open the Samsung NotiStar app >> tap the three dots menu >> and select Information >> repeatedly tap the name “Kwangho Kim” until a Test mode message appears. After that, the missing option will appear in the Labs section.
NotiStar is a popular Samsung’s Good Lock suite and works as a notification history manager. It lets users see notifications even after they are cleared from the regular panel. With the restored feature, NotiStar will be even more useful for keeping track of important alerts.
Aside from this NotiStar feature, the One UI 8.5 update will bring several new features and improvements. You can check the full leaked changelog here.
