Galaxy S26 Ultra leak highlights new 24MP photo option

24 February 2026 at 22:55

Samsung will reportedly bring major camera improvements with its upcoming flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. For a long time, rumors suggested that Samsung was working on adding a 24MP photo mode to the device. Now, new information has made this upgrade more certain.

According to Sahil Karoul, who reportedly got early access to the Galaxy S26 Ultra before its official launch, the phone will come with four camera modes, including 200MP, 50MP, 24MP, and 12MP. The addition of the 24MP camera is new and interesting because Samsung has not offered this exact resolution option before in its Ultra series.

The 24MP camera mode is designed to give users a balance between high detail and smooth image processing. While 200MP photos capture extreme detail, they can take up more storage and sometimes require heavy processing. The 24MP option may provide sharp images without making file sizes too large.

Samsung’s Camera Assistant app recently received an update. This update added support for a 24MP shooting mode. This strongly hints that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will officially feature this new camera option when it launches, but under Camera Assistant functionality.

The new 24MP mode will reportedly work in both Photo and Portrait modes. After taking a picture, the phone takes around three seconds to process the image. The final photos look clean and natural, especially in bright scenes or when taking portraits.

Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
