Samsung has rebuilt the Gallery experience on the Samsung Galaxy S26 with One UI 8.5 on top of Android 16, and this time the upgrades run deeper than a regular overhaul.

Following the Galaxy S26 launch, Samsung unveiled the latest Camera and Gallery features. Head toward our dedicated article to catch up on everything about the Galaxy S26 camera.

Samsung Gallery features in Galaxy S26

Real-time Gallery Search

Search now responds as you type; Real-Time Search surfaces results instantly. Video Search goes further. The system analyzes segments inside a clip and lets you jump to specific moments.

Photo Assist

Samsung’s upgraded Photo AssistΒ now accepts text prompts or reference images. You can replace a subject entirely or insert new objects into a scene.

You can apply one of nine visual treatments, including 3D Toon, Retro Anime, Pop Art, Watercolor, Oil Painting, Anime, Crayon, Comic, and Sci-Fi.

Gen AI Remaster

Remaster has shifted from basic sharpening to generative reconstruction. It enhances detail while maintaining resolution, up to 12MP output.

Upgraded Audio Eraser

Audio Eraser now works inside third-party apps such as YouTube, Netflix, and Instagram. Through a Quick Panel toggle, users can suppress background noise and emphasize voices without leaving the app in use.

Overlay and Live Translation

  • Overlay Translation: Instead of awkward floating captions, the translated text mirrors the original alignment more closely.
  • Live Translation: It works directly in the camera preview. Point at text, and translated content appears across continuous frames in real time.

Advanced Video Effects

Reaction mode now detects gestures and facial expressions to trigger effects during video calls. Light Up compensates for dim lighting conditions, brightening only the subject. Show Only Me isolates a selected person and hides others in real time.

Expert RAW Virtual Aperture

In Expert RAW, Virtual Aperture simulates aperture priority shooting similar to DSLR systems. The software recreates depth and exposure characteristics based on the selected aperture value.

Virtual Reflector Effect

Virtual Reflector Effect lets you position a simulated reflector and adjust its color, intensity, and direction. Meanwhile, Portrait lighting can be shaped after framing, rather than relying purely on ambient light.

Ocean (Underwater) Mode

Ocean Mode adjusts white balance for underwater scenes. The interface is designed for easier operation when submerged.

Enhance-X

Enhance-X now supports multi-file selection at launch. Photos and videos can be processed in batches through the Select Tool. A History tab tracks previously edited files, including documents.

Film-Style Filters

  • Film-style filters introduce grain and vignetting by default.

Cinematic Glow

  • Cinematic Glow softens light sources, adding a halo effect for a richer atmosphere.

Camera and Gallery Assistant

Camera Assistant adds granular controls for video quality, focus behavior, and 8K mirroring on the S26 Ultra. In Pro Video mode, the TILTA wireless lens controller can adjust manual focus and trigger recording remotely.

Gallery Assistant, now officially launched after an extensive Beta Program, focuses on batch editing and utility features for image and video workflows. It is available through the Galaxy Store for supported One UI versions.

With the Galaxy S26 Ultra camera features, Samsung is pushing deeper into professional-grade video, AI-driven computational photography, and workflow-level control.

From a 200MP multi-frame HDR pipeline to an open-source video codec with YUV422 color, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is clearly designed for users who care about latitude, color science, and editing flexibility.

Here are the Galaxy S26’s photo camera features

200MP HDR

Unlike conventional single-shot high-resolution capture, Galaxy S26 Ultra’ pipeline merges multiple exposures at full 200MP. It delivers sharper edge definition, improved highlight retention, and a more usable dynamic range in high-contrast scenes.

24MP Fusion logic

Samsung introduces a 24MP mode powered by AI-based fusion. The logic combines a 12MP multi-frame image, optimized for noise control and dynamic range.

The output delivers the usability and manageable file size of 12MP while retaining fine detail closer to 50MP.Β This 24MP option is accessible via the high-resolution toggle inside the Camera Assistant app.

AI ISP

Samsung is applying AI ISP (Image Signal Processor) processing to the front camera. The system aims to reproduce skin tones more accurately across varied lighting conditions.

Virtual aperture engine

The virtual aperture engine that debuted inside Expert RAW is now integrated directly into native Portrait Mode. Users can simulate different β€œf stops” computationally, adjusting depth of field characteristics.

Document Scan and smarter everyday tools

The updated Document Scan feature uses AI to identify and correct unwanted elements. It can straighten curved pages, reduce moire patterns from printed text, and enhance character sharpness.

Multi scan support allows several pages to be captured into a single document. Dedicated filters adapt to different document types.

Motion Photo

Motion Photo now includes an Auto mode. The camera saves a Motion Photo only when movement is detected. Meanwhile, human faces and pets still trigger Motion Photo capture even without obvious movement

Mode Layout

The camera UI has also been simplified. Night mode is integrated into standard Photo mode, while Dual Recording now lives inside the Video quick control panel. Core features remain accessible via Camera Assistant, but the surface layout is cleaner.

Here are the Galaxy S26’s video camera features

Nightography Video

Samsung is refining its Nightography branding with a brighter sensor and enhanced denoising processing. Gyro data is combined with exposure logic to maintain stable brightness even during sudden lighting shifts.

Horizon Lock

SuperSteady now includes a Horizon Lock option. This maintains a level horizon in addition to shake reduction. For handheld shooting without constantly checking the screen, this is a practical addition.

Cinematic control

Cinematic Portrait Video brings large aperture style bokeh to moving subjects. Users can adjust focus and blur intensity after recording through the Gallery editor.

APV codec

The most technically ambitious addition among the Galaxy S26 Ultra camera features is Advanced Professional Video (APV). On the S26 Ultra, APV enables HDR and Log recording up to 8K 30fps, alongside supporting YUV422 color sampling.

Samsung Log andΒ Cine LUTs

Samsung Log is complemented by a LUT preview feature. Users can preview corrected color in real time while shooting. An expanded library of 12 Cine LUTs is available for PC editing.
