F1 Gets Its Own Special Monopoly Edition

Formula 1, the biggest motorsport brand in the world, has partnered with Hasbro to bring its own version of Monopoly, an interesting twist on the classic board game.

Hasbro is known for collaborating with other major entertainment and sports brands to develop crossover products that attract diverse audiences.

While nothing beats a classic version of Monopoly, each of these special editions have their own twists in order to give a different flavor to the series.

The game comes out on July 15, though it will be available for global pre-order on May 20th.

Instead of buying up streets like in the classic version, there are race circuits that players can buy, along with different color cars and helmets that players can customize as their character.

Details about the game’s additional mechanics remain unclear, but there is a new spin on each part of the game.

β€œPlayers race around every location on the calendar, battling for Championship points and wins as the Season goes on. Instead of collecting $200 when passing GO, players choose their favorite Formula 1 team and race their helmet tokens around the board’s central track, competing to win the Monopoly GRAND PRIX,” the announcement said.

β€œThis collaboration marks the latest in a series of collaborations for Formula 1, creating new ways for fans to connect with the sport beyond the track.”

The release of such a classic game with an F1 twist is a marker of how big the motorsport series has gotten, all around the world. There are new commercial partnerships coming on a weekly basis with all kinds of brands.

β€œMonopoly is one of the most iconic and best-loved board games in the world, so we’re thrilled to bring a Formula 1 twist to such a classic,” Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1, said.

β€œThis edition captures the excitement and competitiveness of the sport in a fun, accessible way, and we’re confident fans of all ages will love going head-to-head with their friends and family when they take to the grid and compete in the Monopoly GRAND PRIX.”
