This week’s Player of the Week has taken the term “multi-sport athlete” to a different level.

On Friday, March 6th, Monroe junior Brein Walker ran in the 4×200 relay at the state meet in Staten Island. The team finished with a 1:31.04 and placed 11th out of 21 teams.

The next morning, Walker drove all the way back to Rochester to join the Monroe boys basketball team for the Class A Championship game at Blue Cross Arena against Wayne.

Not only did Walker play in the championship game after competing at the New York State indoor track meet the day before, but he dominated. Walker scored 18 points in Monroe’s 49-47 win, including the game-winner. His efforts also earned him the Class A tournament MVP.

Walker had a very long weekend, but he came out of it a sectional champion and our Player of the Week.
