VfB Stuttgart are not in a rush to agree on a potential contract extension with forward Deniz Undav.
"We're in regular contact with Deniz and his management. Currently, however, our focus is on the end of the season," Stuttgart chairman Alexander Wehrle told the Bild newspaper in an interview.
He added that the two parties would "intensify the constructive discussions after the season."
Undav's current deal runs until mid-2027 and both club and player want to keep working together. However, according to several media reports, Stuttgart would have to make significant concessions regarding his salary.
"Deniz has a very good scoring quota and is a crucial factor for us. He's a very important player for us both on and off the pitch," Wehrle praised.
Undav has scored 23 goals for Stuttgart in all competitions this season and is a fan favourite.
Wehrle also praised Sebastian Hoeness as "an amazing coach" and isn't expecting him to leave anytime soon.
"He also feels very comfortable here and knows what he has at Stuttgart. We have common goals, so we talk about the future of Stuttgart, not about departures."
Hoeness is still under contract with the club until June 2028.
Manchester United reportedly have a concrete interest in signing Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, whose release clause is a bargain £32.6m.
The 25-year-old has really caught the eye in the Bundesliga in recent times, leading to talk of Man Utd being keen on him from a variety of sources.

Discussing Stiller’s situation, Falk admitted United could sign him on the cheap, but also made it clear that Stuttgart have the option to increase the Germany international’s current buy-out clause.
“There is a lot of interest in Stiller from the Premier League; Manchester United are concretely interested,” Falk said.
“The Red Devils were there last summer but didn’t clinch a deal because they came too late in the transfer window. But this could be a serious option for them this summer.
“The 25-year-old has a release clause in his contract (€37.5m [£32.6m]), but VfB Stuttgart can buy this option from Stiller (for an amount between €2m-4m). Then, they’d have the idea of selling the midfielder for €50m [£43.5m].
“There are a lot of things that could happen, but I can say that there’s still a chance Stiller would leave Stuttgart in the summer.”

It’s clear that Stiller ticks a lot of boxes in terms of being affordable, as well as proven, but still not too old, whilst also clearly strengthening a position United are weak in.
One downside with Stiller is his lack of Premier League experience, but he’s played in the Champions League, so he’s no stranger to playing at the very highest level.
