Belgium May 2026: Leapmotor, MG, Fiat stand out

Leapmotor sales are up 620.7% year-on-year in May.

New car sales in Belgium drop -2.1% year-on-year in May to 33,625 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now off -4.1% to 185,232. BMW (+7.3%) defies the negative market to remain by far the most popular marque in the country at 11.1% share. Volkswagen (-24.7%) reclaims the 2nd spot it holds year-to-date despite a steep YoY fall. Peugeot (-4.6%) is up two spots on last month to #3, distancing Audi (-11.1%), Mercedes (-15.2%) and Dacia (-31.5%) all in dire straits. Skoda (+19.4%) and Kia (+2%) are the only two additional gainers in the Top 10. Below, Leapmotor (+620.7%), MG (+211.3%), Fiat (+83%), BYD (+75.1%) and Tesla (+74.6%) stand out.
