Liverpool eye move for 22-G/A star they ‘almost signed’ in 2024
Liverpool need to sign a quality winger in the summer, especially with Mohamed Salah leaving the club.
According to Ben Jacobs, they are looking at multiple players to improve that area of the pitch, and they are likely to invest in two quality wingers instead of one.
Jacobs believes that Liverpool is keen on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. He has revealed on X that Liverpool have ‘historical’ interest in the player and they ‘almost signed him’ in 2024.
It will be interesting to see if they decide to renew their interest in the England International this summer. Gordon has done quite well for Newcastle, and he could be a useful acquisition for Liverpool. He is capable of operating on either flank as well as a centre forward. He will add goals and creativity to the team.
Gordon has 17 goals and five assists to his name this season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is keen on Michael Olise and Yan Diomande as well. Olise is unlikely to be sold to Bayern Munich, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool decides to move for Diomande. The Ivorian will cost around €100 million, and he is also a target for Manchester United.
Liverpool have been linked with Bradley Barcola from PSG, but the French outfit is working to extend his contract and will not entertain offers in the summer. Another PSG player linked to Liverpool is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is also a target for Arsenal. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Liverpool needs to add more quality and depth to the attacking unit in the summer, and it will be interesting to see who they end up with. Meanwhile, Gordon is a lifelong Liverpool fan, and the opportunity to join them could be tempting for him.
