15 G/A in 14 games – The underrated star who could end Arsenal’s title pain

Arsenal have stuttered recently as they no longer necessarily look like the favourites to win the Premier League title, but could Kai Havertz still save their season?

The Germany international’s absence through injury has surely been one of the major frustrations for Mikel Arteta this season, as he can be so influential when fully fit and confident.

Not everyone was won over by Havertz when he first joined Arsenal after a slightly underwhelming spell at Chelsea, but by the end of a memorable 2023/24 campaign he very much showed his importance to the side.

Havertz has been limited to just three Premier League appearances so far in 2025/26, but if he can make it back for the title run-in, then perhaps there’s cause for optimism for panicking Gooners.

Kai Havertz’s incredible run that almost delivered Arsenal the title

For all the talk of Arsenal being ‘bottlers’ in the title race, that’s far from what happened when they fought to the very final day of the 2023/24 season.

Ultimately it was a mid-season blip that cost them against an almost-perfect Manchester City side, who just would not stop winning and eventually clinched the title by a mere two points.

Arsenal chased them all the way with a near-perfect run of their own, winning 16, drawing one, and losing one of their last 18 games.

Instrumental to that run was Havertz, who contributed nine goals and six assists in the final 14 fixtures, so averaging more than one goal contribution per game…

Of course, Arsenal would also benefit from other players getting back to the kind of form they showed then, with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard not playing at their best this term, whereas they were superb week in, week out at the start of 2024.

It’s very clear, though, that in the few games Havertz has played this term, that he’s made players around him look better, and he’s so much more well-rounded than struggling summer signing Viktor Gyokeres.

When will Kai Havertz be back from injury?

The Athletic recently reported that Havertz would be set for a spell on the sidelines, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be out for too much longer.

As reported by the Evening Standard earlier today, Arteta has even suggested the 26-year-old could be in contention for Sunday’s North London Derby against Tottenham.

AFC might do well not to rush Havertz back into the starting XI straight away, but at the same time there’ll be a real desperation to bring him in and see if he can provide Arteta with the key to finally bringing the Premier League trophy back to the club for the first time in 22 years.

Tottenham and Newcastle in talks to rescue £400k-a-week star from Saudi nightmare

Former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move back to the Premier League.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on the 26-year-old striker and have held talks with intermediaries about a potential move. The player currently earns £400,000 a week at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, and it remains to be seen whether any Premier League club is willing to pay that kind of money for him.

Barcelona are also monitoring Nunez.

Darwin Nunez to return?

The Uruguayan International might have to accept a major pay cut in order to see a return to the Premier League. He has struggled for regular opportunities at Al-Hilal recently since the arrival of Karim Benzema. The player has been sidelined, and he is no longer an important member of the first team. Leaving the Saudi Arabian club would be ideal for him.

It remains to be seen whether he is ready to return to the Premier League.

Nunez could be a useful signing

Despite not being a prolific goalscorer, he impressed during his time at Liverpool with his work rate, physicality, technical attributes, and link-up play. He could prove to be a very useful acquisition for Tottenham or Newcastle. Both teams could use more depth in the attack, and Nunez is versatile enough to operate on the flanks as well as centrally.

He is at the peak of his career, and he knows the league well. He could settle in quickly and make an immediate impact. The opportunity to play regularly in the Premier League once again would be exciting for him.

The striker has scored 9 goals in 24 appearances for the Saudi Arabian outfit, and there is no doubt he could be a quality player in the right team. It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

What Thomas Frank said about Palace in the past

The Danish manager was recently sacked after a run of poor results with Tottenham. Despite the poor spell with the North London club, he has shown his quality in the Premier League with Brentford, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Eagles.

Frank has previously been vocal about his admiration for Crystal Palace. During his time at Brentford, he showered praise on the Eagles for their consistency despite limited resources and how difficult it is to face them, especially at Selhurst Park.

Frank said on Palace in 2021 via Sportsmole: “I need to praise Crystal Palace because they have been in the Premier League for the last eight years and have been very consistent in everything they do. They have a low budget and constantly produce good performances in the last eight years. It is very impressive what they have achieved.

“It is going to be very difficult. Selhurst Park is one of the most difficult places to go in the Premier League. They will be on top of us from the first minute and a very strong counter-attacking team.”

The opportunity to manage Crystal Palace will be quite exciting for Thomas Frank. They have been a consistent performer in the Premier League, and they have quality players at their disposal. It would be a great platform for the former Tottenham manager to prove his worth in the top flight once again. He will be desperate to get his managerial career back on track, and Palace could give him the opportunity he needs.

Villa keen on Ruud Nijstad

According to a report from SportsBoom, Aston Villa is interested in him and hopes to get the deal done in the summer. They need more quality in the defensive unit, and the 18-year-old would be a solid long-term acquisition for them.

Tyrone Mings is expected to depart in the summer, and they will need to replace them. Signing the talented young defender would be a wise decision. He could be a quality long-term investment for them, and he could develop into a key player with the right guidance.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite exciting for the 18-year-old. It would be a huge step up in his career, and he will look to prove himself at the highest level.

Nijstad has plenty of options ahead of him, and it will be interesting to see if he is willing to join the West Midlands club. He needs to carefully choose his next destination. He should join a club that offers regular opportunities. Sitting on the bench at a big club will not benefit him. Aston Villa might be able to provide him with the platform he needs. They have a quality team and a top-quality manager like Unai Emery. The Spaniard could play a key role in his development.

Paul Merson predicts relegation twist for ‘amazing’ Leeds ahead of Aston Villa clash

Leeds United will be up against Aston Villa in their next Premier League match, and it will be interesting to see if they can pick up a morale-boosting victory.

They are fighting for survival in the Premier League, and they have impressed in recent weeks. They are up to 15th in the league table, six points clear of the drop zone. They will look to pull further clear of the bottom three with a positive result here.

Merson predicts Leeds relegation fate

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has now predicted that it will be a difficult outing for Leeds United against Aston Villa. He believes that the West Midlands club is not performing at the highest level, but they have managed to grind out results. He also believes that Leeds could be dragged into the relegation battle once again, especially if West Ham United can win their upcoming match.

He told Sportskeeda: “Aston Villa are not playing their best football at the moment. But they are still winning games, which is all they need to do at this stage of the season. This is a big game coming up for them.

“Leeds United have been amazing in recent weeks. 10 weeks ago, we would have had them as favourites to get relegated. But they are now six points clear of West Ham in 18th and have both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest below them.

“I believe Leeds are far from calling themselves safe, though. This is a big weekend in the relegation battle. If West Ham get a win at Bournemouth, I expect Leeds and a few other clubs to be dragged back into the battle to avoid the drop.”

Liverpool ready to test Leeds resolve with move for “top” player in summer

Can Leeds beat Villa?

It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Leeds have been quite impressive in recent weeks, and they will look to build on that. They have made themselves difficult to beat. A positive result against Aston Villa could give them a huge confidence boost.

Meanwhile, the West Midlands club is pushing for Champions League qualification, and they will be desperate for a win as well. It remains to be seen who comes out on top.

Thomas Frank to Palace?

Despite the poor spell with Tottenham, Frank has previously shown his quality in the Premier League with Brentford, and there is no doubt that he could be a quality acquisition for the Eagles. It remains to be seen whether the London club is willing to give him a chance.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has responded to suggestions that Frank could take over at Crystal Palace.

Jordan said on talkSPORT: “Yeah, possibly. A Palace job might be a reasonable job, but Palace fans might say, ‘You catapulted Tottenham into a relegation battle, we don’t want any of that.’

“But there must be a raft of loads of other reasons behind it. But Thomas Frank’s next opportunity will be a lesser club.”

Frank will be desperate to get his career back on track. He is a quality manager, and he will look to prove his worth in the Premier League once again. It remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace is prepared to give him the chance to redeem himself. They have a quality team, and Frank might be able to bring out the best in them.

Glasner has done a tremendous job at the London club, helping them win the FA Cup and the Community Shield recently. It will be a difficult act to follow, but Frank could be a good appointment for them.

Newcastle star brutally slammed by national team hero, urged to switch careers

Former Italian international Antonio Cassano has taken a swipe at multiple Italian internationals, including the Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Cassano on Sandro Tonali

He went on to explain that Tonali is a workhorse and the Italian national team needs more players with genuine quality. Cassano may be trying to make the point that the Italian national team is now lacking technically gifted players compared to the past.

“The only champion is Donnarumma. Pio Esposito? He’s twenty years old and we consider him a rookie: Totti and I made our debuts at seventeen.

“He should do athletics. Tonali plays in the Premier League and never gets it. He runs and runs… he should do athletics. He and Barella are poor. Barella used to run, but now he doesn’t. We need quality.”

Tonali has been a star for Newcastle

Tonali has been a key player for Newcastle since joining the club, and he has recently been linked with Real Madrid. He has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet, and he has done well in the Premier League for them. His work rate and defensive contribution have been invaluable for the English club.

It will be interesting to see if he can silence the critics with his performance for the Italian national team as well. He is entering the peak years of his career, and he will look to play his best football in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Italy can secure their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Azzurri will face Northern Ireland in the play-offs before a potential final against Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tonali will have the opportunity to guide his country to the mega event with strong performances in the upcoming matches.

Tonali is also on the radar of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Can Liverpool sign Arda Guler?

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool comes forward with an offer to sign the player. The 20-year-old is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he has all the attributes to become a star. He can operate both centrally and on the flanks. He will add goals and creativity to the Liverpool attack.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will demand €90 million for the Turkish international, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool is prepared to pay that price. It is a lot of money for a young player, and Liverpool also need to improve other areas of their squad.

Does Liverpool need Guler?

There is no doubt that Guler is a promising young player with a bright future, and he might ultimately justify the investment in the long term. However, Liverpool must prioritise the areas in desperate need of strengthening first. They should look to invest in a quality central defender, a defensive midfielder, and a winger.

They have players like Florian Wirtz and Alexis Mac Allister who can operate as attacking midfielders and create opportunities for their teammates in the final third. While there is no doubt that Guler is a talented player, he is not a priority for Liverpool.

Having said that, the player has registered three goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season.

Man United could use Hayden Hackney

Hackney will add creativity and drive in the middle of the park. The opportunity to play for Manchester United will be hard to turn down for him, and he will hope to complete the transfer in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Middlesbrough can secure promotion to the Premier League and convince their players to stay.

Pete O’Rourke revealed on Football Insider: “Middlesbrough won’t want to lose Hackney. If they were to win promotion to the Premier League, then they would be quite hopeful that they could keep hold of the England Under-21 midfielder.

“If they don’t win promotion to the Premier League, it’s going to be a real hard battle to keep hold of him. You’ll have Leeds, a lot of other Premier League clubs, (such as) Everton, like Hayden Hackney.

“There’s even been talk that Manchester United could be interested…Fulham are admirers of the player as well.”

Leeds United and Everton are also monitoring his situation. Both clubs could use more quality in the middle of the park, and the 23-year-old would be the ideal acquisition. He has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past as well. It remains to be seen where he ends up in the summer.

Hackney is a young player with significant potential, and he will improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into an important player for all three Premier League clubs.

Manchester United are one of the best clubs in the world, and the opportunity to play for them can be quite tempting for most players. The 23-year-old is likely to have his head turned if there is a concrete proposal from them at the end of the season.

Lucas Bergvall to move on?

Elite talents like Bergvall will want to compete at the highest level, and Chelsea could provide him with an exit route. They are well-positioned to secure Champions League qualification for the next season, and they could be an attractive destination for the young playmaker.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have no plans to sanction his departure yet. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea tests their resolve with an attractive offer at the end of the season.

Pete O’Rourke revealed on Football Insider: “Well look, if Tottenham are out of Europe and struggling again, they’re going to find themselves more more susceptible to offers for their best players and Bergvall definitely comes in to that reckoning.

“He’s a highly-regarded player and he’s done well since he arrived at Tottenham.

“He’s highly regarded at Tottenham, he’s under a long contract until 2031 and there was no surprise that they rebuffed those inquiries from Chelsea and Villa in the January window.

“There was no change they were going to let him leave then. Tottenham see him as a key part of their long-term future at the club.

“But if Spurs continue to struggle and maybe miss out on European competition, you might have other clubs ready to test their resolve to keep hold of their best players including Bergvall.”

Can Spurs turn it around?

For now, Spurs should focus on getting their season back on track with improved performances. They have brought in a new manager, and it will be interesting to see if Igor Tudor can turn things around.

They will need to regularly complete at the highest level to retain top-quality players like Bergvall. He has already shown his quality in the Premier League, and he is a young player with a lot of potential. He could develop into a future star. He will want to play for the biggest clubs in the world and win the major trophies.

Leao is capable of operating anywhere across the front, three and his versatility would be a huge bonus for Manchester United if they can get the deal done. According to a report from Fichajes, he could cost around €100 million at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see whether Manchester United is willing to pay a substantial sum for him.

The 26-year-old is at the peak of his career, and he could make an immediate impact in the Premier League. He will add goals, explosive pace and flair in the final third. He has the technical attributes to succeed in English football, and he could establish himself as a key player for the club. Leao has 11 goal contributions this season.

The opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League will be exciting for the Portuguese international as well. He has shown his quality in France and Italy. He will look to make his mark in England now.

The Manchester United hierarchy is looking to send out a statement to their arrivals with a marquee signing in the summer. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Leao has been linked with multiple English clubs in recent months. It remains to be seen whether he can finally secure a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away from the club, and they will need to replace them. In addition, Radu Dragusin has struggled to secure regular opportunities at the north London club and is seeking a move away to play more often.

Tottenham might need to invest in a couple of central defenders in the summer. The 27-year-old Burkina Faso international has the quality to succeed in the Premier League, and he could be a player for the north London club. The opportunity to join Tottenham will be exciting for him.

Tapsoba is at the peak of his career, and this is the right time for him to take on a new challenge. Moving to the Premier League could be ideal for him. He would get to test himself at the highest level and fight for trophies with the north London outfit.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham is willing to pay the asking price for him. They have the resources to pay €40 million for the defender, and he might be able to justify the investment in future.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the player as well. They will be able to offer him Champions League football next season, and that could make them a more attractive destination for the player.

Tottenham leading preliminary negotiations to sign Premier League flop

Tottenham are reportedly leading the preliminary negotiations for the potential transfer of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegal international has struggled in recent times, failing to make much of an impact at Stamford Bridge, or during his loan spell with Bayern Munich this season.

Jackson has just five goals in 22 appearances for Bayern, following on from a total of 30 goals in 81 games across two seasons at Chelsea.

Still, it seems there is a lot of interest in Jackson at the moment, with Fichajes reporting that Spurs are leading the race, while the 24-year-old also has interest from Atletico Madrid.

What next for Nicolas Jackson after difficult Bayern loan spell?

There will inevitably be a lot of speculation over Jackson’s future in the weeks and months ahead as Chelsea will surely be selling the player after his lack of impact.

We’ve also seen Aston Villa linked with Jackson by TEAMtalk, and there’ll probably be a few other clubs taking a look at him in the near future.

Even if Jackson doesn’t quite look good enough to play for big clubs like Chelsea or Bayern, he could surely still have a decent career ahead of him at more mid-table sides like Tottenham or Villa.

Could Nicolas Jackson be a good signing for Tottenham?

Goals by Spurs strikers this season Games Goals
Richarlison 31 8
Dominic Solanke 11 4
Mathys Tel 24 3
Randal Kolo Muani 27 3

There probably won’t be any final decisions just yet, but Tottenham fans will no doubt be interested to hear that their club is currently making the most progress.

It’s been a difficult season for the north London side, with a striker surely a priority for the summer to replace flops like Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel.

Those two have not done enough for THFC, while Dominic Solanke has had problems with injuries, so even if Jackson isn’t perfect, it’s easy to imagine he could have an impact there.

€70m-plus-player bid prepared which threatens to derail Arsenal’s transfer plans

Arsenal could reportedly be facing a very real threat to their hopes of signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez as Barcelona plan an offer.

Alvarez has been linked with Arsenal by ESPN in recent times, but it seems the Gunners are not alone in targeting the Argentina international.

It seems Barcelona could also strongly enter the conversation by offering €70m plus a player or even multiple players to Atletico Madrid.

That’s according to a report from Fichajes, which states that Barca could be ready to use Marc Casado, Ansu Fati, or Eric Garcia as part of any deal for Alvarez.

Julian Alvarez transfer fee looks unaffordable

Barcelona’s desire to use players as part of the deal is due to Atletico’s crazily high asking price of around €200m.

Paying a fee like that looks a lot harder in the modern era of Financial Fair Play regulations, and it’s debatable if the former Manchester City man is even worth that.

The 26-year-old has a decent record of 42 goals in 92 games for Diego Simeone’s side, but he’s currently on a really poor run, scoring just two goals in his club’s last 16 games in La Liga and the Champions League.

One imagines this is just a blip and that Alvarez could be an upgrade on someone like Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal, but he’s not looking anywhere near a €200m player right now.

Will Julian Alvarez pick Arsenal or Barcelona?

It’s not yet clear if Alvarez will definitely be moving this summer, but if he does have to choose between Arsenal and Barcelona, it would be interesting to see his choice.

Mikel Arteta’s side look promising but have had some recent issues, so it’s not clear if it’s something that’s ever truly going to develop into a winning project.

Barcelona have a far better recent history when it comes to winning major trophies, so it could be that that would be more tempting for him.

Alvarez had a good spell as a squad player at Man City and might fancy another stint in England, but he’s also definitely performed better in Spain, so it could make more sense for him to stay there.

From Spain: Barcelona eye surprise move for Liverpool flop who’s seeking another transfer

Barcelona are reportedly exploring the market for strikers, with former Liverpool front-man Darwin Nunez emerging as one surprise target.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Nunez is being considered by Barca as he’s supposedly tempted to return to Europe after a spell with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

The Uruguay international only left Liverpool for Al Hilal just over six months ago, and he’s not exactly set the world alight at his new club either.

After a disappointing 40 goals in 143 games for Liverpool, Nunez was allowed to leave, and he’s only managed 9 in 24 appearances for Al Hilal.

Given the lower level of football in Saudi Arabia, this doesn’t exactly bode well for Nunez as he looks for a move back to a higher level.

Fichajes’ report suggests Nunez is not necessarily a priority for Barcelona, even if he has qualities they like.

It could be that the 26-year-old would prove a useful squad player at the Nou Camp, but fans would probably rather see the club push the boat out for a more ambitious signing.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is also mentioned in the report, as is Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.

This could be the problem for the Catalan giants – as much as Kane would obviously be the dream signing, he’s not realistic due to the money involved, and his importance to Bayern.

That means less glamorous names like Nunez and Vlahovic need to be considered as alternatives as well.

It will be interesting to see how this saga develops in the weeks and months ahead, but it could be that Nunez will get another chance to show what he can do at the highest level despite his struggles at Liverpool.

However, we can’t imagine there’ll be too many Reds fans keeping an eye on this saga and wondering if their club should get involved in trying to bring Nunez back.

€35m deal possible: Liverpool have found their Ibrahima Konate replacement

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a potential transfer move for former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori as he could be available for around €35m.

The AC Milan centre-back has previously been estimated as being worth almost double that, but a Fichajes report linking him with Liverpool suggests his value has dropped.

This could give the Reds an opportunity to strike a bargain deal for Tomori, who could be a smart addition to Arne Slot’s squad as Ibrahima Konate will probably soon need replacing.

Konate is just a few months away from the end of his Liverpool contract, so the club need to be prepared for the very real possibility of the France international leaving on a free transfer.

Fikayo Tomori transfer: Liverpool could face competition for AC Milan defender

Fichajes also name Tottenham and Aston Villa as potential suitors for Tomori, who could well be keen to come back to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has performed well since his move from Chelsea to Milan, but it could be that playing abroad has slightly hampered his chances of breaking into the England squad.

Tomori may well feel that he’s now running out of time to impress England managers, so coming back and playing for a Premier League club could be ideal for him.

Liverpool seem keen, but he’d likely also do well to end up at one of Spurs or Villa.

Liverpool preparing to lose Ibrahima Konate

The Athletic have recently reported that there has been no breakthrough in contract talks between LFC and Konate.

The former RB Leipzig man has been a key player at Anfield in the last few years, and he’ll likely have a host of big clubs after him if he becomes a free agent.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with Konate in the past, while there’s also been talk of interest from the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Tomori is not quite in Konate’s league, but could be a decent option to come in on the cheap and help Slot replace the Frenchman.

Report: Man United favour £200m double transfer as solution for problem position

Manchester United have been given some advice on transfer targets in midfield, but reportedly favour £200m duo Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson.

The Red Devils have Casemiro coming towards the end of his contract, while they’ll also surely look for an upgrade on the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte.

Baleba has shone for Brighton, while Anderson’s impressive form for Nottingham Forest means both players are now Man Utd’s preferred targets, though they’d cost a combined £200m, according to TEAMtalk.

This is despite the report also noting that former United striker Louis Saha has advised his old club to look at midfielders like Newcastle stars Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

Baleba has been linked with United multiple times, including a recent Sun report claiming that they’re confident of landing the talented young Cameroon international.

Our understanding is also that Anderson is firmly in United’s plans, though they face strong competition from rivals Manchester City for the England international’s signature.

Another name to watch could be Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, who has been linked with MUFC by Sky Sports.

See below for how Baleba, Anderson and Wharton’s stats this season compare, via DataMB…

Man United given transfer advice by Louis Saha

Discussing who United could bring in to replace Casemiro, Saha made it clear just how highly he rates Guimaraes and Tonali, whilst also mentioning Wharton.

“United need aggressiveness and someone that will dictate the midfield. I see someone more like Tonali or Guimaraes, who are two monsters in midfield,” the Frenchman said, as quoted by TEAMtalk.

“With players like [Kobbie] Mainoo, you need someone alongside him who has the experience and vision to manage the transition when Casemiro goes. You need that experience, directness and divisiveness. It’ll be hard to replace.

“If you bring in a young player, it’s a disruption. It’s great for the future, but you need experience. If Casemiro goes, I think a combination of Wharton and Guimaraes would be great because Guimaraes is more of a captain.”

Michael Carrick wants Man United job but another PL club could be more likely

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick is reportedly keen to keep the job permanently, but he’s not currently a frontrunner.

The former Red Devils midfielder has impressed during his stint taking temporary charge of the club, but he could end up in another Premier League job instead.

According to TEAMtalk, United sources are playing down the prospect of Carrick being one of the main contenders to land the permanent manager’s job, while Tottenham have been linked with the 44-year-old.

Carrick has four wins and one draw from his first five games in charge of Man Utd, but even if he’s given the team a bit of a lift since replacing Ruben Amorim, one imagines the club will need to see more over a longer period of time before being convinced about gambling on a relatively inexperienced candidate.

Michael Carrick, Interim Head Coach of Manchester United

Does Michael Carrick have what it takes for the Manchester United job?

Carrick previously impressed during his time as Middlesbrough manager, but his only Premier League experience has come in limited games in charge of United.

MUFC can’t really afford to be taking that kind of risk at the moment, barring some absolutely incredible results and performances between now and May.

Tottenham might be a better job for Carrick at this stage of his career, with the north Londoners in need of a shake-up, without the same high-level expectations that would exist at United.

Who could be next Manchester United manager?

United have gone through a long list of names since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager back in 2013.

Experienced winners like Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal struggled at Old Trafford, as did more up-and-coming coaches like Amorim, Erik ten Hag, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

There will be some intriguing options available in the months ahead, with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi currently out of work, but United would arguably still do well to keep Carrick in mind due to his strong start as interim and his connection to the club from his playing days.

Premier League club exploring deal to sign 19-year-old Arsenal ace this summer

Nottingham Forest are reportedly eyeing Arsenal’s young goalkeeper Tommy Setford as a summer transfer window target.

Initial talks are said to have taken place through intermediaries, with Forest also recently scouting Setford, according to Football Transfers.

Setford has only played two games for the Arsenal first-team, but the 19-year-old has long looked like a big prospect ever since catching the eye at former club Ajax.

The Netherlands-born England Under-21 international could do well to think about his future this summer, as he’s currently third choice in goal for the Gunners behind David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Will Tommy Setford seal Nottingham Forest transfer?

Setford could have a big future in the game, but it currently looks like it will be hard for him to fulfil his potential at Arsenal.

With Raya and Kepa ahead of him in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, it’s hard to see where first-team opportunities are going to come from for the young shot-stopper.

Setford could therefore do well to think about joining a club like Forest, who would probably be able to give him a better guarantee of regular minutes.

It will be interesting to see how this develops, but Arsenal might well favour a loan for Setford for the time being, as they won’t want to risk letting this talented young ‘keeper go, only for him to then develop into an even better player and strengthen another Premier League club.

Football Transfers do suggest Forest could be open to a loan deal, so in many ways this seems to be shaping up into a deal that suits all parties involved.

Sources: Liverpool sense “last major opportunity” to get defender deal done

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is at something of a career crossroads ahead of this summer, with AC Milan leading the race for his signature.

As first reported here for the Daily Briefing, it looks increasingly likely that Liverpool could cash in on Gomez this summer, with the England international set to have a few big-name suitors.

Gomez will have just a year left on his contract at the end of this season, and the timing looks right for all parties to go their separate ways.

Some Liverpool fans might be unsure about letting this useful squad player go, but it could also be time to make a few changes to Arne Slot’s back line.

Joe Gomez looks set to leave Liverpool

One well-placed source provided some insight into why Liverpool look ready to let Gomez go as they prepare to reshuffle their defensive options this summer.

“Liverpool are keen to reshape their back line with younger, specialist profiles,” one source told me. “Gomez is no longer seen as indispensable but rather as a valuable market asset. With his contract expiring in 2027, the summer of 2026 is viewed as the last major opportunity for the club to secure a significant transfer fee.”

Although Gomez has been content with his squad player role at Liverpool down the years, it seems he’s now more open to a new challenge as well.

And despite never really being an automatic starter for the Reds, there is great admiration for Gomez throughout the game, with some big names monitoring his situation.

The clubs eyeing Joe Gomez ahead of this summer

My understanding is that, while there have not been any concrete talks with any clubs yet, Gomez can count Bayern Munich and AC Milan as among his admirers.

Milan are considered by most sources to be the “frontrunners” for the 28-year-old, while Bayern would probably only pursue him as an alternative if other targets don’t work out.

Other options for Gomez could include West Ham and Brighton, who are both looking for defenders with Premier League experience this summer, though the Hammers will obviously struggle to lure a player of this calibre if they’re relegated to the Championship.

Gomez’s salary demands are understood to be in the region of £4.5m a year, and that could also be significant as it remains to be seen which clubs would be willing to pay quite that much for a player with his injury record.

Talks held: Arsenal step up efforts to beat Man Utd to transfer of €80m star with “Ronaldinho-vibes”

Arsenal have reportedly held initial talks over a potential transfer move for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao ahead of the summer.

The Portugal international is a long-term target for the Gunners, and they now seem to be stepping up their pursuit of this potential €80m deal, according to Football Transfers.

Leao is also on the radar of Manchester United, according to the report, but it could be that Arsenal are leading the race.

It certainly sounds like things are advancing, with AFC chief Andrea Berta said to have already had face-to-face discussions with Leao’s representatives.

Rafael Leao transfer could make perfect sense for Arsenal

Leao’s numbers this season aren’t exactly spectacular, with eight goals and two assists in Serie A so far, but they also don’t tell the whole story.

Previously described as having “Ronaldinho-vibes” by Owen Hargreaves via TNT Sports, Leao is an entertaining player with great skill and flair who could give Mikel Arteta’s side a new dimension in attack.

Leandro Trossard is not getting any younger, while Gabriel Martinelli has been a tad inconsistent again this season, so there’s surely room for Leao to come in as an upgrade on that left-hand side of Arteta’s front three.

Man United also need Rafael Leao

United’s interest in Leao also makes sense, with the 26-year-old perhaps a better option than Matheus Cunha in the club’s front three.

Bryan Mbeumo has performed well since joining MUFC from Brentford last summer, but Cunha’s role has been less clear, and perhaps a more out-and-out wide player is needed.

If United could beat Arsenal to Leao then that would be great business, though for now it perhaps seems that a move to the Emirates Stadium is more likely.

Arsenal are also far more likely to be able to offer Champions League football next season, with United competing for a top four spot but not yet safe from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool close behind them.

The USA international shone at PSV before moving to Leverkusen last summer, and it will be interesting to see where his career takes him next.

Speaking in the video clip below, Tillman made it clear he’s a big admirer of the Gunners, praising their system under “great coach” Arteta and saying he could fit in well at the Emirates Stadium…

?? Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen, 23): “If there is one club I would love to play for, it is Arsenal. They have a great coach, a great system, I think I would fit in. They score a lot of set-piece goals, but in the Champions League they’re different.” ??pic.twitter.com/Jy243ozlhM

— DailyAFC (@DailyAFC) February 20, 2026

“It’s a tough one,” he said when asked about his favourite team in the Premier League.

“I don’t have a favourite team, but if there was one club I would love to play for it’s Arsenal.”

He added: “The way they play now, they have a great coach, they have a great system, and I think I would fit into it.”

Could Malik Tillman be a transfer target for Arsenal?

It’s always nice for clubs to hear players are keen to play for them, but that doesn’t mean Tillman will automatically be on Arteta’s list for this summer.

The 23-year-old still looks like he has some way to develop before putting himself in the conversation for such a big move, even if he has shown some promise in his career so far.

For now, though, Tillman probably needs to play more regularly and perform more consistently for Leverkusen, with just 17 appearances and four goals in the Bundesliga so far this term.

Malik Tillman’s past links with Premier League clubs

Tillman has been on the radar of big English clubs before, though, so perhaps we could be seeing him over here at some point.

Sky Germany previously linked him as someone Manchester United, Tottenham, and Aston Villa were looking at, though obviously this never led to anything more concrete.

Tillman has also been linked with Chelsea by Simon Phillips, and it makes sense that he’d have been looked at by the Blues when he was a bit younger.

Exit-bound Man Utd star set to have 3 transfer offers, has already visited potential destination

Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro could reportedly be set to have three offers on the table for him when he becomes a free agent this summer.

The Brazilian has already announced his decision to leave Man Utd when his contract expires, and it seems he’ll have some intriguing opportunities available to him.

According to the Sun, one option for Casemiro could be Inter Miami, with the 33-year-old even making a recent visit to Florida to get a feel for the area.

The report also claims Casemiro has interest from Porto and Sao Paulo, with the latter supposedly prepared to offer him a two-year deal.

Casemiro can leave Manchester United with his head held high

Casemiro has had a slightly mixed spell at Old Trafford, but he has improved a lot since suffering a major slump in form a couple of years ago.

The former Real Madrid man probably hasn’t quite lived up to expectations overall, having arrived in the Premier League quite late in his career, but he’s done well to turn things around and improve his reputation with the club’s fans.

Overall, Casemiro has enjoyed a legendary career at the highest level, having been a star player for Real Madrid for many years and helping himself to five Champions League titles and three La Liga titles while he was at the Bernabeu.

Manchester United need to replace Casemiro

Even if MUFC probably needed to strengthen in midfield anyway, the departure of Casemiro makes it an urgent priority.

One name being linked as a potential defensive midfield target is Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana, as per Football Insider, while other big names like Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have previously been linked by the Athletic.

United fans will hope that Casemiro announcing his exit early will have helped the club plan for replacing him in midfield.

We reported earlier this week that Delap’s Chelsea future was in serious doubt, with Manchester United understood to be one of his suitors.

Everton were also one of the clubs mentioned to us, and this has now been backed up further as the Toffees have been linked with Delap in a report from Football Insider.

It could be that Delap’s time at Stamford Bridge is going to be short-lived after a lack of impact for the Blues, with the 23-year-old only managing three goals in 30 games in all competitions since he joined.

Liam Delap transfer looks like it’s failed for Chelsea

Chelsea sent Nicolas Jackson out on loan to Bayern Munich last summer after his poor form, and signed two new strikers in the form of Delap and Joao Pedro.

While Pedro has performed pretty well so far, it’s fair to say Delap has looked like a real disappointment, so it’s perhaps not surprising that CFC are going to look at that position again this summer.

Delap might have looked impressive at former club Ipswich Town, but it seems this big move has come too soon for him, and Chelsea surely need to be aiming higher.

Liam Delap stats Games Goals
Ipswich 2024/25 40 12
Chelsea 2025/26 30 3

Can Liam Delap revive his Premier League career?

Still, a move to a club like Everton could be ideal to help Delap get his career back on track, as he’d surely play regularly there and without the same kind of scrutiny that’s on him at Chelsea.

The interest from Man Utd could also be interesting to watch, as it’s our understanding that the Red Devils rated the England Under-21 international very highly when they also tried to sign him from Ipswich last summer.

Delap may have flopped at Chelsea but it could still be that it won’t be his last chance at a big six club.

Serie A star thought he was set for West Ham transfer until surprise decision

West Ham United reportedly had some interest in Juventus striker Jonathan David in January, but ultimately took too long and focused on other targets instead.

The Canada international was a prolific scorer at former club Lille but hasn’t made the smoothest start to life at Juve, scoring only seven goals in 34 games so far.

West Ham could have been a good option for David, and at one point he thought he was on his way to the Hammers, according to Claret and Hugh.

Still, it seems there was some uncertainty about whether or not David suited the team’s style of play, and it led to the deal collapsing.

What sources have said about West Ham’s interest in Jonathan David

Claret and Hugh’s report quotes a source as explaining precisely what went on between WHUFC and David in January.

“He [David] thought he was joining West Ham. We spoke to them in December but they took too long to decide and then signed other players,” their source said.

“The manager didn’t think he suited the style, but Promise was confident he would score goals.”

Will West Ham regret Jonathan David transfer decision?

It’s been a difficult season for West Ham, who remain in a battle to escape relegation from the Premier League.

David could surely have been a useful signing to give them more of a goal threat up front, but it’s also still true that it would have been a gamble with no guarantees.

Even if the 26-year-old was a consistent goal-scorer during his time in Ligue 1, he’s clearly struggled since making the step up to Serie A, and the Premier League would only be a bigger challenge for him.

The Belgium international has had an impressive Premier League career with both Everton and Villa, and it’s not surprising to see him continuing to attract interest from a big name like Man Utd.

The Red Devils could do with strengthening in midfield this summer, with Onana looking like a potentially ideal long-term replacement for the ageing Casemiro, whose contract will be expiring at the end of the season.

United also need an upgrade on the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte, and Pete O’Rourke has reported on Football Insider‘s podcast that Onana could be their man.

Manchester United linked again with Amadou Onana transfer move

Discussing United’s interest in Onana, O’Rourke said: “Yeah, it’ll be an interesting one. Obviously, United did make a late move to try and sign Onana from Everton before he made that big £50m move to Aston Villa.

“I think right now, I’m sure United have continued to keep tabs on Onana, who has become a key man for Unai Emery’s side.

“Casemiro is leaving at the end of season. There’s doubts over Ugarte’s future as well.

“So look, they’re going to need strengthening in that midfield position.

“Onana is a player that they’ve had previous interest in. So I think it’s one of those where he probably still remains on the list, but he’s probably not at the top of it.”

Could Onana be a good signing for Man United?

Onana being on United’s list, but not at the top of it, as O’Rourke says, sounds about right.

MUFC will surely have a few names on their radar, and Onana could be well worth considering if some other potential signings don’t work out.

As you can see below, Onana’s stats don’t really stand out in comparison to Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton

Both these talented young English midfielders have been linked with United by the Athletic and others in recent times, and are probably the best talents on the market in that position right now.

Still, that also means there’ll surely be plenty of competition to sign them this summer, so it makes sense for United to keep someone like Onana in mind as a very decent alternative.

The 24-year-old is also quite a different profile due to his defensive qualities, so there might even be scope for signing him and one of the others as they could complement each other well as a midfield partnership.

Mikel Arteta fires back at ‘bottlers’ tag as Arsenal face title nerves again

Arsenal are fighting for the Premier League title, but they have been quite mediocre in recent weeks.

They have dropped several points in recent weeks (only two wins from the last seven league matches), and naturally, there has been speculation surrounding their ability to get over the line. They recently dropped points against bottom-placed Wolves, and there have been claims that Arsenal could bottle the league title once again.

Mikel Arteta on the tag of bottlers

When asked about the potential tag of bottlers ahead of the pre-match press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta refused to entertain the question, saying the word is not part of his vocabulary and that he is not concerned about the tag.

Mikel Arteta said on the tag of bottlers: “It’s not part of my vocabulary, and I don’t see it like this because I don’t think anybody wants to do that, as an intention, but I wouldn’t use that word, but that’s, that’s me.”

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can bounce back strongly and put together a winning run now. They have a formidable team, and they have done quite well overall. They need to be more consistent if they want to win the league title. Manchester City are breathing down their necks, and they have extensive experience winning league titles. Arsenal must look to get their act together if they want to beat Manchester City and Pep Guardiola to the title.

Liverpool and Manchester City have not been at their best this season. This is a golden opportunity for Arsenal to win the league title and return to the top of English football. They must not slip up at this stage of the season. They have come close in recent seasons, and they will look to finally get over the line.

James Trafford wants Villa move

However, a report from The Shields Gazette claims that a player would prefer to join the West Midlands club instead. It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can wrap up the move in the summer. They could use a quality goalkeeper, especially with Emiliano Martinez being linked with an exit. The South American is expected to depart in the summer, and Trafford could be the ideal replacement.

He has shown his quality with Burnley in the past, and there is no doubt that he is good enough to start for Aston Villa. He could help them improve. Regular football at the West Midlands club could help the goalkeeper fulfil his potential as well.

Trafford decision a blow for Newcastle

Aston Villa are pushing for Champions League qualification, and they will be an attractive destination for players if they manage to finish in the top four. Newcastle have an ambitious project as well, but they are unlikely to compete in the Champions League next season. It is no surprise that the goalkeeper wants to join Aston Villa instead. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Trafford will have to compete with Marco Bizot for the starting spot at the West Midlands club. At Newcastle, he would have to compete with Aaron Ramsdale. The move to Aston Villa certainly makes a lot more sense for the player.

Malick Thiaw has excelled at Newcastle

The player joined Newcastle for £30 million in the summer, and he has been excellent for them. He has a long-term contract with Newcastle, and they are under no pressure to sell him. They are likely to demand a lot of money if Liverpool or Manchester United decides to come calling in the summer.

Liverpool need more quality in the defensive unit, and there is no doubt that German could be a useful acquisition. The 24-year-old is entering the years of his career, and he could be attracted to the idea of joining an elite club like Liverpool.

Ibrahima Konate will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Joe Gomez has been linked with an exit as well. Liverpool need to invest in a quality central defender at the end of the season. The Newcastle star could be ideal for them.

Similarly, Manchester United would also need to add more depth to the defensive unit. Harry Maguire is in his 30s, and they need to start planning for his succession.

It will be interesting to see whether either club is willing to pay a premium for him. Newcastle will not want to lose the player easily. They are looking to build a formidable team and retain their best players.

Meanwhile, the interest from top clubs could turn heads, and it will be interesting to see how the player reacts.

Spurs do not want to lose Luka Vuskovic

They could look to make a move in the summer, but Tottenham consider the Croatian talent “unsellable”. The report claims that they would only entertain negotiations for an offer of around €70 million. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid or Liverpool comes forward with an acceptable offer for the player.

Real Madrid have looked vulnerable defensively, and they are looking to improve in that area of the pitch. Signing the 18-year-old would be a major coup for them. He is regarded as a generational talent, and he could develop into a world-class player with the right guidance.

The €70 million investment might seem expensive right now, but the player has the quality to justify the outlay in future. Similarly, Liverpool needs more depth in the defensive unit. They need to start planning for a Virgil van Dijk replacement, and the Croatian could be a superb acquisition.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Tottenham must keep players like him at the club if they want to build a formidable team for the future. Selling him to Real Madrid or Liverpool could prove to be a huge mistake. The 18-year-old has all the attributes to become a future star, and Tottenham could regret the decision in future.

Tottenham and Newcastle circling for 21-year-old destroying defenses in Germany

Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss is currently on loan at German club VfB Stuttgart.

The 21-year-old Moroccan has been excellent for them, scoring five goals in his last eight European appearances. He has three goals and three assists in the Bundesliga as well. His performances have attracted interest from Tottenham and Newcastle United, according to SportsBoom. It would be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for him at the end of the season.

Bilal El Khannouss to join Stuttgart permanently

The German outfit will be able to sign him permanently for around €20 million. They have an obligation to make the move permanent should certain conditions be met. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to sign him permanently and sell him for a quick profit again.

Tottenham could use more quality in the final third, and the 21-year-old attacking midfielder could be a useful addition. He has played in the Premier League with Leicester City, and the opportunity to join a big club like Tottenham could be exciting for him. He can operate both centrally and on the flanks. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net as well.

Liverpool join Arsenal in race for 23-year-old speedster with 13 goal contributions

Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing the PSG attacker Bradley Barcola at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has struggled to secure regular opportunities at PSG and needs to leave the club to play more often.

Moving to the Premier League would be ideal for him. Liverpool and Arsenal need more quality on the flanks, and the French International could be ideal for them. He will add explosive pace, technical ability and unpredictability in the final third.

He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and sitting on the bench at PSG will not benefit him.

Liverpool and Arsenal eye Bradley Barcola

Liverpool needs a player with his skill set. They have not been able to replace Luis Diaz properly, and Barcola could be the ideal alternative. Similarly, Arsenal need more quality on the flanks. They have invested in players like Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, but they have been quite underwhelming since joining the club. Arsenal need more cutting-edge from the flanks, and the French attacker could help them improve.

The report from Fichajes claims that Liverpool and Arsenal would not hesitate to pay a premium for the player in the summer. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. He has the technical attributes to succeed in the Premier League, and he will look to establish himself as a key player for either club.

Chelsea and Tottenham queue up for 16-G/A star who is tearing it up in Europe

Sint-Truiden striker Keisuke Goto has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has been excellent since joining the Belgian club on loan from Anderlecht. He has been able to find the back of the net regularly, and his performances have attracted the attention of Chelsea and Tottenham. Goto has shown that he has the physicality and technical attributes for English football, and he could prove to be a very useful acquisition. He is a young player with significant potential, and he could develop into a star with the right guidance. The player could be available for €15-20 million, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea or Tottenham decide to pay up. He has 16 goal contributions this season.

Chelsea need more cutting-edge in the final third. They need someone who can lead for them and find the back of the net regularly. The 20-year-old Japanese attacker could be the ideal fit.

Similarly, Tottenham needs more quality in the final third. They have struggled to find the back of the net regularly, and it needs to be seen whether the 20-year-old can solve that problem.

The asking price is quite nominal for a player of his potential, and the deal could look like a major bargain in future. It remains to be seen where he ends up.  Both Premier League clubs have the finances to get the deal across the line.

Liverpool keen on Konstantinos Tzolakis

Liverpool is reportedly looking at him as a long-term replacement for Alisson Becker. The Brazilian has been an exceptional servant for the club, but he is 33. He has struggled with injury problems, and Liverpool could use a quality alternative. In addition, Alisson will be out of contract in 2027.

Tzolakis has the quality to succeed in the Premier League, and he could be a very useful option for Liverpool. The opportunity to join them will be exciting for him. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

The asking price is quite affordable, and Liverpool should be able to get the deal done if they are truly interested in the player.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are looking at the players as well. They could use a reliable backup option to David Raya. The Greek international could compete with the Spanish for the starting spot, and more competition for places will help Arsenal improve as a team.

They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they are fighting for major trophies. The goalkeeper will be tempted to join them, especially if there is an opportunity to start for them regularly.

It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.

Several clubs from across Europe are also monitoring his progress. The 6’4″ goalkeeper has the physicality for English football as well, and moving to the Premier League would be ideal for him. It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Man United could use Mateus Mane

They need a versatile attacker like Mane, and he could prove to be a solid long-term acquisition. He is capable of slotting into any of the front three roles and will add pace, flair, and goals to the team. The opportunity to join a club like Manchester United will be tempting for the young attacker. It would be a huge step up in his career.

Wolves are expected to go down at the end of the season, and they will lose multiple key players in the summer. Mane will want to stay in the top flight, and Manchester United could provide him with an exit route.

It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to pay £50 million for him. Mane has 13 goal contributions this season.

Arsenal believe the striker could be signed for €30 million. He will be out of contract in the summer of 2027, and the German outfit will be under pressure to cash in on him at the end of this season. They will not want to lose him for free. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

Undav has been spectacular for this season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions. He has picked up 11 assists along the way. He is more than just a goal scorer, and he could be the complete forward Arsenal are missing right now.

The striker is at the peak of his career, and this could be the right time for him to take on a bigger challenge in the Premier League. The opportunity to join Arsenal will be quite exciting. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a formidable squad.

Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres at the start of the season, but the Swedish International has been underwhelming. They need an upgrade on the player, and Undav could be a useful acquisition.

Arsenal need someone who can find the back of the net consistently and bring others into the game. The 29-year-old certainly has the skill set to add a new dimension to the Arsenal attacking unit. He could be a complete forward for them.

The €30 million asking price is reasonable for a player of his experience and quality. He could justify the investment if he manages to adapt to English football quickly.

Atletico Madrid is looking to add more depth to the attacking unit, and Chelsea needs to find an upgrade on Liam Delap, who has not been able to find the back of the net consistently.

Strasbourg and Chelsea are owned by the same organisation, BlueCo, and that could give Chelsea an advantage in the transfer race. It will be interesting to see if they can beat Atletico to his signature.

Meanwhile, Diego Simeone has already informed the Atletico Madrid hierarchy that he wants to sign the 23-year-old. He believes that the Argentine forward could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

The French outfit paid €17 million to sign him, and they will look to make a substantial profit if they are forced to sell him in the summer. The striker will want to compete at the highest level, and the opportunity to join Atletico Madrid or Chelsea will be quite exciting for him. Both clubs could offer him the chance to fight for trophies.

He has the physicality and technical attributes to succeed in La Liga and the Premier League. It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually. He has shown his quality in France, and this could be the right time for him to take on a bigger challenge.

“One of the factors” – Fabrizio Romano drops intriguing update on Arne Slot’s Liverpool future

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will reportedly face a review at the end of this season, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on YouTube.

Speaking on the latest episode of his Here We Go show, Romano explained that Liverpool’s board could take a look at Slot’s position depending on whether or not the Reds qualify for the Champions League.

Despite winning the Premier League title last season, Slot has under-performed with Liverpool this term, with the Merseyside giants sitting in sixth place in the table at the moment, and facing an uphill struggle to finish in the top four.

Fabrizio Romano on Arne Slot’s Liverpool future

“For Arne Slot, the situation is quite clear: being in the Champions League next season is crucial for Liverpool,” Romano said.

“It will also help Arne Slot arriving toward the end of the season in a more relaxed situation with the club. Otherwise, if Liverpool aren’t in the Champions League next season, let’s see what kind of Champions League campaign they’ll enjoy.

“This could bring Liverpool into an important review for the summer. Now, the full focus is on the pitch, and the opportunity to win a trophy, of course, will be massive for Liverpool.

“Then in the summer, a review of the club. Let’s see if Liverpool will be in Champions League next season or not, and this will be one of the factors to decide on Arne Slot.

“So I expect the club at the end of the season to meet – owners, board, management, all together – to decide what they want to do.”

Who could replace Arne Slot as Liverpool manager?

It remains to be seen if Slot really deserves more time at Anfield, as his second season has seen such a significant drop-off from his debut campaign.

We’ll likely have a clearer idea before too long, but it’s also worth looking at who’s out there as a candidate to replace the Dutchman.

Changing managers always carries a degree of risk, and LFC would have to be confident they could find someone better to come on board.

Xabi Alonso looks like the obvious name to consider, with the former Liverpool player doing a hugely impressive job during his time in charge of Bayer Leverkusen.

Things didn’t work out for him at Real Madrid, leading to his recent sacking and subsequent availability, so that could end up being a significant factor.

? Liverpool are set to review Arne Slot's position at the end of the season, depending on if #LFC get #UCL football.

Do you think he should be sacked if they don't make top four?

However, the Bundesliga giants already have an agreement in place for Karl to sign a new contract at the Allianz Arena on his 18th birthday.

Karl, 17, is one of the most exciting young talents in world football at the moment after a superb breakthrough season with Bayern, and it seems this has led to big interest from elsewhere.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Arsenal have made their interest known, but it looks like they won’t be able to get him as the Germany Under-21 international’s future has already been secured.

As Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk notes: “Arsenal and Liverpool have made their interest known in Bayern Munich’s rising star Lennart Karl, with sources confirming that the Premier League giants have checked in on the teenager ahead of his 18th birthday this weekend.

“Bayern are understood to have an agreement in place to extend Karl’s deal on his birthday, but we can reveal that talks are ongoing about a further extension – potentially locking him into a fresh four-year contract.”

The report also mentions interest from other top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.

How good can Lennart Karl be?

Karl’s playing style has already drawn comparisons with Lionel Messi, and it certainly looks like he’s sure to have a great career at the highest level.

The teenager has played 30 first-team games for Bayern this season, scoring seven goals, and one can only imagine how good he’ll be once he’s gained a bit more experience.

Liverpool and Arsenal could have done well to land this top talent, but Bayern will be delighted that it looks like he’s committed his future to them.

Ballon d’Or winner offers himself to Chelsea despite Liverpool transfer interest

The entourage of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembele have reportedly contacted Chelsea to sound out their interest in a potential transfer.

The reigning Ballon d’Or winner is said to be unhappy at PSG, with the club unwilling to meet his astronomical €60m-a-year contract demands, according to Fichajes.

There has also been talk of Dembele falling out with PSG manager Luis Enrique, as per TEAMtalk, who linked the Ligue 1 giants with a move for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as a potential replacement.

A previous report from Fichajes also linked Dembele as a target for Liverpool, and the Reds could certainly do with a signing of that calibre to give them a replacement for the ageing Mohamed Salah.

Dembele’s entourage now seem to be trying to get him a move to Chelsea, with those close to the France international approaching the Blues board about him.

It would be fair to say it’s slightly hard to imagine Chelsea going for this, as Dembele doesn’t fit in with their current transfer strategy at all.

The west Londoners have focused a lot on investing in top young players under their current ownership, so they’re more likely to continue looking for the game’s next superstars, rather than a proven big-name talent like Dembele.

Still, there can surely be an exception to every rule, with the 28-year-old just the kind of world class forward who could help get CFC back to being genuine contenders for the Premier League and Champions League.

Ousmane Dembele’s mixed time at PSG

Dembele struggled at former club Barcelona, and things didn’t immediately click for him at PSG either.

Dembele at PSG Games Goals
2023/24 42 6
2024/25 53 35
2025/26 25 11

Still, the former Barca man was almost unplayable last season, as he shone as one of PSG’s best players to fire them to glory in the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Dembele finished the campaign with 35 goals in 53 games, and it saw him win the Ballon d’Or, but this season has again been a bit of a struggle for him.

It seems all is not well between him and Enrique now, so that could mean there’s an interesting opportunity for the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool to think about.

LFC are currently struggling, however, to qualify for next season’s Champions League, so that could favour Chelsea, as it’s hard to imagine Dembele being keen on stepping down to a Europa League team.

€100m bid prepared: Liverpool ready ambitious move to sign crucial player from PL rivals

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid as high as €100m for the transfer of Tottenham central defender Micky van de Ven, according to Fichajes.

The Reds could do with securing the services of an elite centre-back as soon as possible, with the club potentially facing a bit of a crisis in that position this summer.

Ibrahima Konate is nearing the end of his contract with Liverpool, and the Athletic recently reported of no breakthrough in talks to get him to extend his deal.

If Konate ends up leaving on a free, it will likely require big money to replace him, so Van de Ven could be just the kind of signing they need.

Micky van de Ven of Tottenham Hotspur

Micky van de Ven the new Virgil van Dijk?

Liverpool notably spent what looked like huge money at the time when they brought in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in January 2018.

The Netherlands international has gone on to look like a bit of a bargain for that price, as he’s become a club legend and is still going strong for Arne Slot’s side even at the age of 34.

Still, Van Dijk cannot go on forever, so it could be time for LFC to go and spend similar money again on someone like Van de Ven.

Spurs will surely do all they can to keep the 24-year-old, but it won’t be easy for them after two difficult seasons in which they’ve hovered dangerously close to the relegation zone.

As with Van Dijk when he was at Southampton, Van de Ven would surely see Liverpool as the step up his career needs.

Tottenham in a strong negotiating position

Fichajes suggest Tottenham are in a strong negotiating position with Van de Ven, whose current contract with the north Londoners expires in 2029.

That means Spurs are not under too much pressure to let him go, so it will inevitably take an enormous offer for Liverpool to get him.

Still, Fichajes suggest the Merseyside giants could be ready to do it and go all out with a €100m offer for the Dutchman.

The former Liverpool star would be a controversial signing for Man Utd due to his long and successful career at Anfield, but it seems this is a transfer opportunity the Red Devils are keeping an eye on.

According to Fichajes, United are hoping to swoop for Alexander-Arnold and could try making a €50m bid for the England international as they look for a new right-back.

Alexander-Arnold has not had the easiest time at Real Madrid, but he remains a big name and one of the finest full-backs in the game on his day.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to Manchester United – how realistic is this transfer?

Let’s face it, even if United have a serious interest in Alexander-Arnold, it is very hard to imagine it actually going anywhere.

The 27-year-old has only just joined Real, and even if he hasn’t hit the ground running at the Bernabeu, the club will surely give him a bit more time to adjust.

Perhaps Alexander-Arnold himself is unsure about staying in Spain and is homesick for English football, but even then, would he really ruin his reputation with Liverpool fans by joining United?

We saw this happen with Michael Owen back in the day, but Alexander-Arnold would surely have other more tempting options.

Man United need a new right-back

Still, MUFC could really do with a top class right-back signing this summer, with Diogo Dalot still playing there far too often despite clearly not being good enough.

Alexander-Arnold would be a major upgrade, but there could be other more realistic options out there as well.

Jules Kounde has also been linked with United by Fichajes, so the Barcelona right-back could be a decent candidate for that role.

As the season has gone on, the more it has become clear that the Gunners simply have too many weaknesses in their squad that need addressing if they are to come back stronger next season.

Arsenal’s signings last summer have not worked out, and it could be that we’ll already be seeing one of them moved on.

Read on for our look at a potential summer transfer window for Arsenal if they get their ins and outs right…

OUT – Viktor Gyokeres

Despite one or two moments when it looked like he might turn it around, there can be no escaping the fact that Viktor Gyokeres’ signing has proven to be a big mistake.

It always looked a gamble signing the Sweden international on the back of those admittedly superb scoring numbers from Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese league simply not a good enough marker of how he’d settle in the English top flight.

Gyokeres has just eight goals in 25 Premier League games so far, and only six of those have come from open play, and six of the eight goals came against newly-promoted clubs.

Barring a remarkable turnaround between now and May, it’s very hard to see any justification for Arsenal to keep Gyokeres, who turns 28 in June, and who will surely very rapidly lose what little resale value he has.

IN – Julian Alvarez

Possibly the best striker who’s at all likely to be on the market at the moment is Atletico Madrid front-man Julian Alvarez, who has been linked with Arsenal by ESPN.

The Argentina international has 42 goals in 92 games for Atletico, while he’s also proven himself in the Premier League, scoring 36 goals in two seasons mainly as a squad player at Manchester City.

Alvarez makes perfect sense for Arsenal and is the kind of statement signing they need to show that they’re the real deal in every department, with their attack this season just looking a long way off what’s required when it comes to getting over the line in the biggest competitions.

OUT – Leandro Trossard

Despite making a very decent contribution during his Arsenal career, Leandro Trossard is not getting any younger, so seems an obvious candidate for the exit door this summer.

The Belgian has his qualities, but it’s also hard to imagine he’d be starting for many other top European sides, with Arsenal in need of more of a genuine superstar in that area of the pitch.

Football Insider have suggested that Trossard could leave the Emirates Stadium at some point in 2026, so although there’s nothing concrete for now, it just looks like one that would make sense to help raise funds for signings to take this team up another level.

IN – Morgan Rogers

One of the game’s biggest rising stars, Morgan Rogers is surely the kind of talent Arsenal need to move for next.

The Declan Rice of attacking midfield, Rogers looks like he’s just about to hit his peak years, and there’ll surely be plenty of top clubs ready to pay big to prise him away from Aston Villa.

Of course, if Villa qualify for the Champions League, it’ll be harder for Arsenal to get this deal done, but in a way, that’s precisely why they need to go all out to get it done. They went for depth last summer, and this year needs to be about a lower number of genuine superstar signings.

OUT – Riccardo Calafiori

A top player, but Arsenal probably need to seriously consider Riccardo Calafiori’s future after two injury-hit seasons at the Emirates.

The Italy international simply isn’t reliably available enough, and perhaps getting rid of him would also give AFC an opportunity to bring in a different kind of player at left-back.

Arteta currently focuses more on defensive qualities in that position, with Calafiori, like Jurrien Timber, more of a centre-back playing at full-back, with many Arsenal fans likely to feel there’s room to take more risks in that department with a more attack-minded player.

IN – David Raum

That player in question could perhaps be RB Leipzig’s David Raum, who has an impressive four goals and six assists in all competitions for club and country this season.

The 27-year-old Germany international is more like a wing-back than Calafiori, so could give Arsenal a new dimension with his passing and crossing qualities.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal have any interest, but this is surely an underrated player that a number of top clubs should be looking at ahead of this summer.

Michael Carrick names huge talent in Man United squad who can get even better

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has spoken very highly of young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo after making him a key player since he replaced Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo had been struggling for playing time at Old Trafford this season, with Amorim for some reason not rating him and leaving him on the bench a lot.

The Portuguese tactician struggled during his time in charge of Man Utd, and it now seems clear that he really missed a trick by not making more use of Mainoo.

The talented young England international first burst onto the scene under Erik ten Hag, and Carrick also says he’s known about him for a while.

Michael Carrick’s special praise for Kobbie Mainoo

Speaking to BBC Sport, Carrick made it clear just how highly he rates Mainoo, whilst also backing the 20-year-old to keep on getting even better.

I’ve known Kobbie a long time. I started working with him when I think he was 13 or 14, when I was starting to do my coaching badges – a good few years ago. Just little bits. And then, obviously, when I was here the first time, he was in and around a little bit,” Carrick said.

“So I think knowing him and having experience with him and seeing him perform at such a level on such big occasions… I said earlier about coaches being able to cope with being here and at the level to deal with it. What Kobbie’s done at such a young age is quite incredible really.

“We forget how young he still is. I was just a big fan of watching him play and knowing what he was capable of. So it wasn’t really a big decision to play him. And, to be fair, it’s not easy when you haven’t played to find your rhythm and find your form.

“There are things he can get better at, things he can improve on, but we haven’t really got started on any of that because we’re just letting him go and find his flow and find his rhythm of playing football again. I’ve been really conscious of not giving him an awful lot – a couple of little pointers, a bit of positional things and some little bits here and there – but trust in what he is. He’s a fantastic footballer and he’s got a huge talent.”

Kobbie Mainoo flourishing under Michael Carrick

It’s interesting to hear Carrick say that he doesn’t like to overload Mainoo with too many instructions, which really feels like a breath of fresh air in the modern game.

It remains to be seen if United will end up hiring Carrick beyond his spell as interim manager, but there is perhaps something to be learned from how he’s managed to get the best out of Mainoo.

While there are a lot of elite coaches in the game who approach things differently, it seems there is also something to be said for giving players the freedom to express themselves.

This also worked well while another former MUFC player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was in charge at Old Trafford, so it might be that Carrick will be another good fit for the job.

Carrick has won four and drawn one of his five games in charge of the Red Devils so far.

Sources: Liverpool lead Arsenal & Man United in race to sign “outstanding” £50m star

There’s a growing buzz in the industry about about Mateus Mane, who is attracting strong interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

As first reported in my exclusive here for the Daily Briefing, the Wolves wonderkid’s name is on everyone’s lips at the moment, so I thought I’d do some digging to give you more information about his situation.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Many of my sources state that Wolves are resigned to losing Mane this summer, especially as relegation to the Championship looks a near-certainty at this point, and some early conversations have already taken place over a transfer.

Liverpool leading Mateus Mane transfer battle

“Wolves accept that it’s going to be very hard for them to keep Mateus Mane,” one source told me. “This is one of the most outstanding talents in the country, and his rapid progression is no secret to Premier League scouts.”

There has mostly been a lot of speculation about Manchester United pursuing Mane, and while they have been mentioned to me as one of his potential suitors, for now the information I’m getting is that Liverpool are leading the race for the 18-year-old’s signature.

It’s still early enough for things to change, of course, but the Reds have done some early work on this deal, sounding out his representatives, with initial discussions described as “positive”.

Some sources are now saying Liverpool are fully prepared to make a bid for Mane this summer. The England youth international won’t come cheap, however, with Wolves’ current valuation being around the £50m mark. If they truly stand firm on that, then I wouldn’t expect Liverpool to go ahead and pay it.

Arsenal also eyeing Mateus Mane

One name that is yet to get much mention, unless I’m mistaken, is Arsenal. They’re also big admirers of Mane and are keen to mix it up by bringing in more young players this summer.

With a focus on winning trophies straight away, the Gunners prioritised ready-made players like Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, and Martin Zubimendi last year, but there are some key figures behind the scenes who will also push for more signings in a similar vein to William Saliba, who are both good enough to play regularly straight away, but who also have a few years ahead of them before hitting their peak.

That has worked well for Arsenal with Saliba in particular, but also with others like Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli. All of these are players whose value will have shot up since joining the Gunners.

Mane is well liked by Arsenal, but let’s see if they can compete with Liverpool, who for now have the early advantage in the race for his signature.

“Believe me…” – Liverpool, Arsenal & Man Utd target responds to fresh transfer interest

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon insists he’s not getting too caught up in transfer rumours over his future.

The England international is enjoying another fine season for Newcastle and this has led to interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

We’ve reported here on Liverpool and Arsenal looking at Gordon in a potential £95m transfer this summer, while Manchester United have also been mentioned.

See below as Ben Jacobs told The United Stand about Gordon’s name being discussed internally at Old Trafford, with Newcastle possibly needing to make one major sale this summer…

Gordon, however, has been quoted by Goal as playing down all transfer stories as he insists it’s often “rubbish” and he’s just focused on the here and now with Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon responds to transfer speculation

“It’s the same old, same old. I haven’t heard anything, they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media). I have gone through enough transfer stuff now to know that it is all a load of rubbish,” Gordon said.

“I am focused on me and focused on the team, I am focused on right now. You look too far in the future and you start to underperform. And believe me I have done that (before) and I am not going to do that now.”

NUFC fans will certainly be glad to hear that Gordon isn’t giving a transfer too much thought, and they’ll hope their club can keep hold of this in-form attacking talent.

Anthony Gordon’s importance for Newcastle

Gordon has 14 goals and four assists in all competitions for Newcastle so far this season, and it surely wouldn’t be easy for them to replace that.

The 24-year-old is still young enough that he can also keep on getting better, so even if the club were planning to make a profit on him at some point, they could do well to wait a little longer as his value could still increase.

Arsenal will surely keep monitoring Gordon, however, as he looks like he could be a good long-term replacement for the ageing Leandro Trossard, as well as an upgrade on the inconsistent Gabriel Martinelli.

Liverpool, meanwhile, could also do with a goal-scoring winger like this as Mohamed Salah is starting to look past his best, while his future could be in some doubt this summer.

As for Manchester United, they would also surely benefit from bringing in someone like Gordon as he could be a better fit to complete that front three than Matheus Cunha has been in an inconsistent first season with the Red Devils.

PSG enquire about Erling Haaland transfer amid Luis Enrique row with star player

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made an enquiry about a potential transfer move for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The Norway international is emerging as an ambitious target for PSG, with this story from TEAMtalk coming amid a row between Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembele.

It could be that PSG are eyeing Haaland to replace Dembele, though the report also cites sources stating that these sagas are unconnected.

Either way, it’s worrying news for Man City fans, who won’t want to see a star name like Haaland leaving the Etihad Stadium any time soon.

The 25-year-old is having another superb season in front of goal for City, and it would likely be impossible for the club to replace him as there’s a real shortage of strikers on the market at the moment.

Haaland Man City stats Games Goals
2022/23 53 52
2023/24 45 38
2024/25 48 34
2025/26 37 29

Could Erling Haaland really leave Manchester City for PSG?

Haaland has a contract with City until 2034, so one imagines they’re very much in control over the player’s future.

There has often been speculation about whether Haaland could have a release clause in his City deals, but Sky Sports reported that this contract contains no such clause.

All in all, this probably makes a PSG move for Haaland highly unlikely, even if the Ligue 1 giants may have tested the waters.

It could be that Haaland will at some point be tempted to try something different, especially if Pep Guardiola steps down as manager, but for now he seems to have firmly committed his future to the club.

What’s going on with Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembele?

Dembele recently got on the wrong side of PSG boss Enrique with some comments after the defeat to Reims.

The France international, who won the Ballon d’Or after his superb contribution to PSG’s Champions League success last season, suggested that the team played too much as individuals.

Enrique reacted badly to this, and is quoted by TEAMtalk as saying player comments are “worthless” as he seemed to take issue with Dembele perhaps questioning his tactics, and made it clear he felt he should stay in his lane.

Still, even if PSG do need to replace Dembele some time soon, they’re surely going to have to look elsewhere as Haaland won’t be available unless something dramatic happens.

Why Manchester City star prefers Aston Villa transfer over Newcastle

Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford is reportedly keen on a transfer to Aston Villa this summer instead of Newcastle.

The England Under-21 international has struggled for playing time since joining Man City in the summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.

This has seen Trafford linked with Newcastle by talkSPORT, but it now seems his preference could be to move to Villa Park instead.

According to Football Insider, this is because Trafford is keen to work with Villa manager Unai Emery, while they also look like having a better chance of being able to offer Champions League football next season.

Can James Trafford revive his career after Manchester City struggles?

Trafford looked like a fine player at former club Burnley, and he’s been a bit unlucky at the Etihad Stadium so far.

When Trafford first joined City in the summer, it looked like he would probably be the club’s number one, but he made a poor start and Donnarumma later ended up joining when he became available.

It will be interesting to see how Trafford can bounce back from this, but it makes sense that he surely needs to leave City to have a chance of going back to playing regularly.

James Trafford to replace Emiliano Martinez?

Of course, it’s not guaranteed that Trafford would be number one at Villa due to the presence of Emiliano Martinez.

Still, the experienced Argentine has been linked with a move away in recent times, with another Football Insider report suggesting Manchester United could go back in for him.

With Martinez not getting any younger, it could be a good time for AVFC to make a change anyway, and bring in a talented young ‘keeper like Trafford as a smart long-term investment.

The 23-year-old looks like a good opportunity on the market and if it’s true that he’s really keen to play for Villa, then they should surely do what they can to take advantage,.

Igor Tudor tells Tottenham to sign midfield maestro who could be available

Tottenham’s interim manager Igor Tudor has reportedly urged the club to pursue a transfer move for Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The Italy international’s future at Roma is in some doubt at the moment, and it seems Tudor is a big fan of his and pushing for him to be targeted by Spurs, according to Calciomercato.

It remains to be seen how much influence Tudor will have given that he’s perhaps unlikely to be in the job for that long at Tottenham, but there’s no doubt that Pellegrini is a fine player with the quality and experience to make an impact for a top Premier League club.

According to Calciomercato’s report, Pellegrini is now seriously tempted to try a new challenge abroad after an entire career spent in Italian football so far.

Roma are still keen to tie Pellegrini down to a new contract, according to Calciomercato, but it looks like he could be heading towards an exit from the Stadio Olimpico.

The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent this summer if he doesn’t agree a new deal, so it’s a big opportunity for Spurs and others.

Tudor only recently took over from Thomas Frank, but he’s only there until the end of the season until a permanent appointment comes in.

Perhaps if the Croatian tactician can impress in the weeks and months ahead then he’ll have a stab at landing the job beyond this campaign, in which case it could be smart to give him someone like Pellegrini to work with.

Still, there are a lot of moving parts here that could make this deal complicated, so it’s a bit early to know for sure how the whole saga is going to pan out.

Report: Chelsea star already deep in talks over summer transfer, Aston Villa monitoring situation

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is reportedly already deep in talks over his next move as his loan spell at Bayern Munich comes to an end in the summer.

The Senegal international has struggled to impress at the Allianz Arena, so it’s not too surprising to see that intermediaries are already working on his next move.

This has Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs on alert, according to TEAMtalk, with some teams from abroad also monitoring the situation.

Jackson looked like a big prospect when he first joined Chelsea, but it’s fair to say it’s hard to see him having a future at Stamford Bridge now after some underwhelming form.

At the same time, it’s perhaps understandable that there are still some big clubs out there who’d be willing to gamble on the 24-year-old.

Nicolas Jackson could be a smart signing for Aston Villa

Villa are one of the teams being linked with Jackson by TEAMtalk, with the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Atletico Madrid also mentioned.

Unai Emery could probably do with a new signing up front this summer, though, with Ollie Watkins not getting any younger.

There’s every chance that Jackson could still develop into a top Premier League striker with the right guidance, and Emery is someone who knows him well from their time together at Villarreal.

We’ve previously reported on Jackson being eyed by Villa, as well as by Everton and Napoli.

It’s probably still too early to know for sure where Jackson will end up, but the Emery connection at Villa could be one to watch as talks seemingly get started to settle the player’s future.

Chelsea will hope to make a decent fee from Jackson’s sale, as their policy of signing promising young players does mean that their value can often go up as they gain more experience, even if they don’t necessarily hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.

“There is definitely a chance…”: Journalist shares latest on Chelsea links with £200k-a-week star

Chelsea are looking to improve their defensive unit at the end of the season and have identified South Korean international Kim Min-jae as a target.

The 29-year-old could be on his way out of Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can get the deal done. According to Dean Jones, Chelsea are keeping tabs on him and are open to signing an experienced defender.

Kim Min-jae wages could be an issue

The player earns £200,000 a week at the German club, and that could be a major problem for any club looking to secure his signature. It will be interesting to see whether the South Korean is willing to accept modest wages to move to the Premier League.

Dean Jones told TEAMtalk: “Kim Min-jae is being linked with Chelsea and while it is true there has been an element of interest, I’m told the prospect of a transfer is still quite slim.

“I do get the impression Chelsea are more open minded than when they were previously only looking at younger players. There is definitely a chance they look to sign someone with more experience and seniority.

“But at the moment I am told the Kim links are just one of a number of deals they have on their mind for the summer and ultimately they will still be looking for good value.

“From what I understand, Kim is on good money, in the top ten earners at Bayern, and that brings a layer of difficulty too for any potential deal that Chelsea would look at.”

Chelsea could use Min-jae

Chelsea have looked vulnerable at the back this season, and they need to improve there. Signing a quality defender could make a big difference for them. They are pushing for Champions League qualification and need to improve the team to challenge for league titles.

The South Korean defender has done well in Italy and Germany. He has the physicality for English football as well. The opportunity to play for Chelsea will be exciting for him.

Newcastle line up move for 24-year-old wide player after Ligue 1 scouting mission

Newcastle United are interested in signing the Roma defender Saud Abdulhamid in the summer.

The 24-year-old defender is currently on loan at Lens, and he has done quite well for them. Newcastle scouted him in action recently, as per TEAMtalk, and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with an option to sign him at the end of the season.

Lens also keen on Saud Abdulhamid

The French outfit is also interested in making the move permanent, and they have an option to do so. It remains to be seen where the 24-year-old ends up.

The Saudi Arabian right back will want to compete at a high-level and the opportunity to move to the Premier League could be exciting for him. Newcastle have an ambitious project, and they have the resources to get the deal done as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

It is no secret that Newcastle need more depth in the full-back areas. Kieran Trippier is in the twilight stages of his career, and Newcastle will need to replace him properly. Signing the 24-year-old could prove to be a wise decision.

Convincing the player to join the club might not be too difficult for Newcastle. The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be hard to turn down.

Newcastle have an ambitious project and a talented squad. The defender will want to compete at the highest level in future, and joining a Premier League club could be ideal for him. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can agree on a deal to sign him at the end of the season.

Even if Lens decides to make the move permanent and exercises the option available to them, Roma have a buyback clause in the deal. They could easily look to sign the player back and sell him for a profit.

Man United eye move for £50m Liverpool target with ‘potential to grow into a star’

Manchester United are showing interest in signing the Wolves attacker Mateus Mane.

The 18-year-old has impressed in the Premier League with his maturity and versatility. He is capable of operating across the front three, and Mane has attracted the attention of Manchester United. They could use a versatile attacker like him, and he is likely to cost around £50 million.

Liverpool also keen on Mateus Mane

Meanwhile, Liverpool is also interested in the player. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Both clubs could use more quality in the attacking unit, and the 18-year-old would be a solid future acquisition.

“Mateus Mane is being linked to United and I have had quite interesting reports on this one because people close to the club admit he is an interesting option and that his profile does make sense,” Jones told TEAMtalk.

“He obviously has a sense of versatility for the attack and midfield, but he also has potential to grow into a star.

“When we consider what they want to do in the summer, he would be quite a good player to go for because he is the kind of progressive talent they want to invest in.

“We all know they are looking at signing well-established stars from within the Premier League, but they would like to start signing players like this too.

“The fact that he could provide cover in various positions across the side means the stories linking him to United for the summer are worth paying some attention to.”

The opportunity to play for Manchester United or Liverpool will be tempting for the young attacker as well. It could be the ideal next step in his career. Wolves are likely to go down in the summer, and he will want to stay in the top. The two clubs could provide him with that platform.

Both clubs have the financial resources to pay his asking price, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Even though he has done nothing to justify the £50 million price tag at the moment, he could do so in the future.

Chelsea have let George Jobling leave

It is unclear why Chelsea decided to let the player leave, but there is no doubt that Spurs will be delighted to sign the young defender. They are looking to build a team for the future, and Jobling could prove a useful acquisition for them in the long term. If they can help him develop and fulfil his potential, he could end up saving them millions in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, the young defender will be delighted to have joined one of the biggest clubs in the country. He will now focus on his development and force his way into Tottenham’s first team plans in the future. The defender will certainly look to prove that Chelsea has made a mistake in letting him leave.

Meanwhile, Tottenham should also look to bring in players who are first-team ready and can help them improve immediately.

It has been a disappointing season for them, and they are closer to the relegation zone than they are to Champions League qualification. It will be interesting to see if they can turn things around in the coming weeks. They have brought in Igor Tudor as their new manager, and he will be expected to turn things around.

Karl Etta Eyong linked with exit

CSKA Moscow is interested in signing the player now and has submitted an offer in excess of €30 million. The Spanish club has already accepted their proposal and is forcing the player to leave. However, he has no interest in moving to Russia for now. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United and Arsenal step up to secure his signature.

They could use more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and the 22-year-old could be the ideal acquisition. He will add goals and creativity to the team. At Manchester United, he could compete with Benjamin Sesko for the starting spot. The Slovenian needs more support in attack. More competition for places will help both players improve.

Eyong could be a useful addition

Eyong has shown his quality in La Liga, and he has the technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League as well. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can get the deal done. The Cameroon International has six goals and three assists in La Liga this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need more depth in the attacking unit. Eyong could compete with Viktor Gyokeres for the starting spot. The Swedish International has not been able to live up to the expectations, and Arsenal could use more cutting-edge in the final third. It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to sign the La Liga forward.

It is clear that he could be signed for a fee of around €30 million. The deal could prove to be a bargain in future. He is a talented player with significant potential, and he could easily justify the investment.

Man United keen on Alejandro Balde

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are keeping tabs on his situation, and they are considering an offer of around €40 million for him. They could use more quality and depth at fullback, and Balde would be an excellent long-term investment for them.

He could be the ideal long-term replacement for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford. If Manchester United can sign him for €40 million, Balde could prove to be a shrewd investment for them. He has the potential to become a top-class player, and Manchester United would do well to sign him.

Manchester United have done well to groom young players, and they could help regain his confidence. Balde could justify the investment in future. He was a target under Ruben Amorim as well.

A move to the Premier League could be ideal for the young defender. He will aim to establish himself as an important player for the Red Devils and contribute on both ends of the pitch. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get the deal across the line.

They have shown great improvement in recent weeks, but they need more quality in order to compete with elite clubs. They need to improve multiple areas of the squad in the summer, and signing a quality left-back will certainly be one of their priorities.
