Crystal Palace handed cash windfall after reaching Conference League QFs
Crystal Palace have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League this season.
They had to work hard for the 2-1 win over AEK Larnaca, but they have managed to get the job done. They will now go up against Italian club Fiorentina in a two-legged tie after the wind in Cyprus.
Crystal Palace will need to improve their performance if they want to get to the semi-final of the competition. They were quite wasteful in the knockout rounds, and they could get punished against the Italian outfit.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are through to the quarter-finals of a European competition for the first time in their history, and they have now bagged a prize money of £1.1 million (h/t Wearepalace) for reaching the last eight of the competition.
It remains to be seen whether they can continue to progress in the competition and end up winning their first European Cup. They have done brilliantly under Oliver Glasner, and he helped them win the FA Cup and the Community Shield. He will certainly go down as the most legendary manager in their history if he can guide them to the European Cup now.
Glasner is all set to leave Crystal Palace in the summer, and he will want to deliver a major trophy before moving on.
Crystal Palace could end up earning around £6 million. If they manage to go all the way in the tournament and win the UEFA Europa Conference League final.
Winning the tournament would secure their place in the UEFA Europa League for the upcoming campaign and would be a huge financial boost for them.
