Most awaited fix for the Galaxy S25 Ultra coming with One UI 8.5

Samsung is doing great today. Samsung today released several new One UI 8.5 beta updates for Galaxy S25, S24, S23, and other Galaxy phones. The latest update brings many fixes. Talking about the fix, the Galaxy S25 users are waiting for one specific fix for their flagship device.

If you have a Galaxy S25 Ultra and love taking beautiful photos, I have important news. The 5x virtual aperture mode (for background blur, bokeh) is not working properly for some users. Instead of being clean and even blurred, the background sometimes looks messy. This problem is more visible while using 3x or 5x zoom.

Samsung moderators on the official community forums (via Mojo Trick) have now confirmed the bug. The issue has been noted and will be fixed in the upcoming One UI 8.5 software update, confirmed moderator. Why is this big news for Galaxy S25 users? When a key feature like virtual aperture doesn’t work well, it hurts the overall user experience.

The One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series is currently in beta testing, and the stable version is expected to arrive very soon, possibly by the end of April 2026 in some regions, with wider rollout in early May.

Just to confirm, this update is not just about one small bug. The One UI 8.5 beta has already brought several camera improvements, such as better manual controls, fixes for blurry moving subjects, and restored features like Single Take and Dual Recording. Samsung has been active in addressing camera-related complaints during the beta phase.

If you are experiencing the glitch, report it in the Samsung Members app under Error report. More reports help Samsung fix issues faster.
In the meantime, you can try the regular Camera app’s Portrait mode for simpler shots, or just wait for the stable One UI 8.5.

Samsung continues to improve the S25 Ultra’s already strong camera system through software. Enjoy the latest Beta version for your Galaxy S25 series.

From Premier League champion to survival mode, Liverpool's season is on the brink

Just one year ago Liverpool was closing in on a record-tying 20th English league title.

Now coach Arne Slot is in a battle to salvage the season and, perhaps, save his job.

A 4-0 defeat to Manchester City last week saw Liverpool crash out of the FA Cup. And a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday has pushed the Merseyside club to the brink of a Champions League exit in the quarterfinals.

Add to that a title defense that unraveled early in the campaign and it is little surprise that speculation has mounted regarding Slot's future even after he delivered the Premier League title in his first year in charge.

After defeat in Paris, Slot admitted his team was in “survival mode”.

His situation has not been helped by the availability of Xabi Alonso, the former Liverpool player who was regarded as a leading candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp when the club icon stepped down as manager in 2024. Alonso is a free agent after being fired by Real Madrid this season and his stock remains high after winning the German title with Bayer Leverkusen.

While Liverpool has given no indication that Slot's job is at risk, the Dutchman has acknowledged that failing to secure a spot in next season's Champions League would be unacceptable.

The best chance of qualifying for the competition appear to be via Liverpool's finishing position in the league, with England's top flight set to be given a bonus fifth spot because of its teams' performances in Europe this season. But even that is not guaranteed for Liverpool, which currently sits fifth, just one point above Chelsea.

Slot had already said in February that he needed near-perfection from his players to secure a return to European club soccer's top competition, but Liverpool hosts Fulham on Saturday after three straight defeats in all competitions.

Key matchups

Arsenal can extend its lead at the top of the standings to 12 points over second-place Manchester City with a win against Bournemouth. City plays Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

New Tottenham coach Roberto De Zerbi takes charge of his first game away to Sunderland on Sunday, with the club hoping for an immediate bounce to boost its fight to avoid relegation.

But it could be in the bottom three by time that game kicks off, with 18th-place West Ham hosting bottom team Wolves on Friday with the chance to leapfrog Spurs.

Players to watch

Mohamed Salah will be back at Anfield for the first time since announcing he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Whether he features against Fulham remains to be seen after he was an unused substitute against PSG. His loss of form this season has been a factor in Liverpool's disappointing campaign, while a public row with Slot also cast a shadow over the season.

Out of action

Arsenal was without Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday and both were being assessed ahead of the Bournemouth game. Chelsea's Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah missed the FA Cup win against Port Vale last week, with coach Liam Rosenior saying the game came too soon for them as they recover from hamstring and ankle issues, respectively.

Off the field

Liverpool fans plan to protest ticket price rises, starting with the game against Fulham.

Supporters group The Spirit of Shankly has called on match-going fans to refuse to spend money inside the stadium in order to send a message to the club's American owner Fenway Sports.

“This is a small act, but if enough people do it, it sends a clear message,” it said.

Harry Maguire signs contract extension at Man United

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Harry Maguire signed a one-year contract extension at Manchester United on Tuesday, with the option of a further 12 months.

The England defender was due to be out of contract at the end of the season.

“Harry represents the mentality and resilience required to perform for Manchester United. He is the ultimate professional who brings invaluable experience and leadership to our young, ambitious squad," director of football Jason Wilcox said.

Maguire joined United from Leicester in 2019 for $97 million, which was a world-record transfer for a defender. He has won the FA Cup and League Cup with the club and has made 266 appearances.

The 33-year-old center-back looked set to leave in 2023 after losing his position under former manager Erik ten Hag. He has since established himself as a key figure and has earned a recall to the England squad ahead of the World Cup.

“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day," he said. “I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together."

Mullins, Aranda and Caminero homer to lead Rays over Cubs 6-4 in return to Tropicana Field

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla (AP) — Cedric Mullins, Jonathan Aranda and Junior Caminero homered and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Chicago Cubs 6-4 on Monday in their first game at Tropicana Field in 561 days.

The Rays were back in their domed stadium after playing the 2025 season across the bay in Tampa at Steinbrenner Field — the spring training home of the New York Yankees — because Hurricane Milton destroyed the Trop’s roof and caused extensive damage.

A sellout crowd of 25,114 welcomed the Rays home.

Shane McClanahan, making his first start at the Trop since July 22, 2023, allowed two runs and one hit in four innings. He struck out five and walked four.

McClanahan returned to the mound last week for the first time after a series of injuries forced him to miss two full seasons. The lefty underwent his second Tommy John surgery in August 2023 and then missed the entire 2025 season due to an inflamed nerve in his left triceps.

Kevin Kelly (1-1) pitched a perfect fifth to earn the win and Bryan Baker finished for his first save, yielding Matt Shaw's solo shot in the ninth.

Mullins lined a 3-2 changeup into the seats in right field to tie it at 2 in the bottom of the second inning against Jameson Taillon (0-1).

Taylor Walls then drove a double to left-center, and scored when shortstop Dansby Swanson made a throwing error on Yandy Diaz’s infield single.

Caminero blasted a solo shot to left, extending Tampa Bay’s lead to 4-2 in the third.

Michael Busch’s sacrifice fly in the sixth cut it to 4-3.

Aranda connected off Phil Maton in the seventh to put the Rays up 6-3.

Nico Hoerner’s two-run single with two outs in the second inning gave the Cubs a 2-0 lead.

Taillon allowed four runs — three earned — and seven hits in six innings.

Up next

RHP Javier Assad makes his season debut for the Cubs against Rays RHP Drew Rasmussen (0-0, 1.80) on Tuesday night. Assad, who has a 3.43 ERA across four seasons, is taking Matthew Boyd's spot in the rotation. Boyd was placed on the 15-day injured list with a a left biceps strain.
