Galaxy S26 gains Satellite SOS in Google Messages

Google Messages has silently added the Satellite SOS feature on Galaxy S26 series in the US. A consumer posted on Reddit the interface screenshots, showcasing how the feature works when you are not in the reach of networks.

Samsung Messages is gone, and Google Messages is the only SMS service on the Galaxy S26 series, which also offers Satellite SOS in the US. It allows you to send an emergency SOS even if you are not connected to a cellular network.

It’s a pretty useful feature and becomes a boon when you are in need. You may have faced a situation where network is not available, but you need to contact to your friends, family or loved ones to share the status.

The post contains three screenshots, with the first displaying the setup page of satellite service. An in-app pop-up card appears with a brief description of the feature and tapping β€œContinue” opens the satellite detection page.

Google Messages assists you in aligning your phone according to the positioning of the satellite. It will showcase a proper guide to turn your phone left/right/up/down in order to bolster the strength of the signal transmitted through satellite.

To make the Emergency SOS even more reliable, Google Messages can also minimize the satellite alignment page to the app’s header. It displays the connectivity status in real time, while allowing you to send SMS through the app.

Tapping β€œEnd” allows you to disconnect the app and revert to cellular. The app mentions that mobile data, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi will turn off when the satellite is connected and revert to normal after the end of the satellite connection.
