On Thursday, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was named to the WNBA All-Star Game for the third consecutive season, making the All-Star roster every season since she has been in the league.

However, there was a pretty wide disparity between how the fans and media perceived Clark and how she was perceived by her fellow WNBA players.

Clark Ranked No. 11 by Players

While fans and media voted Clark as the No. 2 and No. 3 guard in the WNBA this season, respectively, the WNBA players seemed to have a much different opinion, not even ranking her in the top 10 at her position.

When the official All-Star Game voting was revealed on Thursday, the results revealed that Clark was voted as just the 11th-best guard in the league by the WNBA players.

The players ranked Clark behind Paige Bueckers, Rhyne Howard, Olivia Miles, Sonia Citron, Marina Mabrey, Allisha Gray, Kelsey Mitchell, and three other players who were not even on the list.

As a result, Clark’s weighted score was just 4.5, bringing her behind both Bueckers and Miles to third in the All-Star voting.

It’s also worth noting that this is just comparing Clark to other guards, not even every other player in the WNBA.

Clark’s Dominant Season

Despite how the players rank her, Clark is in the midst of yet another dominant season.

So far this season, Clark is tied for third in the league in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per game, and ranks second in the league in assists, totaling 8.2 assists per game.

Additionally, she has significantly cut down on her turnovers this year, averaging just 4.6 per game this season – the best number of her career so far – while posting career-high totals in field goal percentage (43.0) and 3-point percentage (34.4).

The WNBA has officially confirmed the starters for the 2026 All-Star Game and the list is headlined by Indiana Fever superstar and guard, Caitlin Clark.

Clark is one of three Fever players to make the cut, along with center Aliyah Boston and guard Kelsey Mitchell.

The Fever aren’t the only team to have multiple starters. The Minnesota Lynx will send forward Natasha Howard and guard Olivia Miles, and the Dallas Wings will be represented by guard Paige Bueckers and forward Jessica Shepard.

New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson and Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams round out the starters pool.

From here, coaches will pick 12 reserves, which are slated to be announced next week.

How voting works & top vote-getters

WNBA All-Stars were determined by votes from fans (50%), current players (25%) and media (25%).

After the votes are counted, players are given a score that is calculated by averaging their weighted rank from the voting groups. The four guards and six frontcourt players with the highest scores are the starters.

Caitlin Clark ranked second in fan vote, third in media vote and 11th in player vote, which will do nothing to dispel the notion her fellow players are jealous of her.

Overall, Clark ranked third overall among guards in the vote. Bueckers and Miles ranked first and second, respectively.

Meanwhile, Wilson, Stewart and Shepard rounded out the top three among frontcourt players.

Wilson was first in player vote and Stewart was first in media vote. Shepard, on the other hand, did not rank first in any of the three votes but finished third among media and the players, and fourth among fans.

The head coach of each All-Star team will be from the squads with the two best records after the Friday, July 10 games are played.

WNBA’s new All-Star team approach

The make-up of the two All-Star teams hasn’t been decided yet.

Usually, the top vote-getters are captains and select their teams, but this year the league is changing things up for the 30th anniversary of the WNBA.

Legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon will serve as honorary captains to divvy up the starters instead.

No official date for the teams being picked has been announced as of this writing.

The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, July 25, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, with tip-off scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
