According to The Athletic, the Hammers have already accepted that the Portuguese midfielder is likely to be sold this summer, no matter what division the club are playing in next season.

That is a pretty big statement, especially for a player who cost them a package worth more than £40 million less than a year ago.

West Ham United signed Fernandes last year

Fernandes joined West Ham in August 2025 after Southampton’s relegation, having made 36 Premier League appearances for the Saints.

Reuters reported that he signed a five-year contract, while Southampton confirmed the deal was worth over £40 million.

But football moves quickly. West Ham’s season has not gone to plan, and there is now talk of a major summer rebuild.

The Hammers have accepted Fernandes will be cashed in on to help fund changes to the squad.

That makes the situation slightly awkward. Fernandes was meant to be part of the future, not someone West Ham flipped after one season.

But if clubs are seriously interested and the money is strong, West Ham may feel they have no choice.

Manchester United have been linked with the midfielder, and Football Insider recently claimed West Ham could ask for more than £84 million.

That figure sounds very ambitious, but it shows how highly the club value him and how much profit they would like to make.

For Man United or any other interested club, Fernandes is an interesting option.

He has energy, technical ability and the profile of a modern midfielder. But the price is important.

At around £50 million or £60 million, you can understand the interest. At £84 million, it becomes a massive gamble.

According to TEAMtalk, PSG have held talks over a move for Gordon at a time when Bayern are also pushing hard for him.

The French champions are said to admire the Newcastle forward, but Bayern appear to be further along, with reports claiming they have already reached broad personal terms with the player.

Newcastle United have set a high price on Gordon

The key issue is not whether Gordon has interest from top clubs. He clearly does. The real question is whether anyone is willing to meet Newcastle’s valuation.

Several reports claim Newcastle want around £75 million or more, while Bayern are hoping to negotiate that figure down.

That is a strong position for Newcastle to take, and it makes sense. Gordon is 25, Premier League-proven, English, quick, aggressive, and coming off a productive season.

From Bayern’s perspective, Gordon is an interesting fit. They need wide players who can bring intensity, directness and end product.

He is not just a touchline winger either. He can attack inside, press hard, run beyond defenders and play with that kind of Premier League edge that many European clubs now value.

PSG’s interest is also understandable. They have spent the last couple of years trying to reshape their attack with younger, more energetic players instead of just collecting superstar names.

Magpies have a difficult decision to make this summer

Gordon fits that newer profile better than people may think. He is intense, hard-working and not afraid of responsibility.

But Newcastle are in a slightly awkward spot. On one hand, selling Gordon for a huge fee could help them financially and give them room to reshape the squad.

On the other hand, losing him would be a major sporting blow. He has become one of their most dangerous players, and replacing that combination of pace, work rate and Premier League experience would not be easy.

Newcastle’s stance is correct. Gordon is exactly the type of player top clubs pay big fees for, so there is no reason to accept a discount.

If Bayern or PSG want him badly enough, they should pay like it. Otherwise, Newcastle are better off keeping him and building around him.

Thomas Frank has a new job three months after Tottenham departure

Thomas Frank has reportedly found his next role just a few months after being dismissed by Tottenham Hotspur, but it will not be back in the dugout just yet.

Instead, the former Spurs and Brentford boss is set to join BBC Sport as a pundit for the 2026 World Cup, giving him a chance to return to football in a much calmer environment, according to Guardian.

Frank will be part of the BBC’s coverage team alongside names such as Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart, Alan Shearer and Olivier Giroud.

This is Frank’s first major football role since leaving Tottenham in February. His Spurs spell ended badly after only eight months in charge, with reports noting he was sacked after a poor run that left the club 16th in the Premier League.

That is why the BBC job could be useful for him. It gives him visibility without the weekly pressure of managing.

Real Madrid’s interest is also easy to understand. Their midfield has been evolving, and a player like Rodri would fit perfectly as a leader in the centre of the pitch.

He is Spanish, experienced, technically excellent and already proven at the highest level. But the latest reports suggest Madrid have not made any official move, and that hesitation may cost them.

Rodri staying at Man City makes the most sense for everyone, at least for now.

Real Madrid would obviously be tempting, especially for a Spanish player who has already won almost everything in England. But City still feel like the club where he is most important.

If City secure Rodri on a new deal, they control the future of their midfield. If they let him enter the final year of his contract without clarity, Real Madrid control the conversation.

The Spanish giants may admire him, but admiration is not enough if City move quickly and get the paperwork done.

Carrick connection could help complete the move

There is also the Michael Carrick angle. Recent reporting has suggested Carrick is in a strong position to get the Man United job permanently, with formal talks expected before the end of the season.

If that happens, Rogers could become even more interesting because Carrick worked with him at Middlesbrough before his move to Aston Villa.

Carrick would know Rogers’ character, habits and strengths better than most. If he believes Rogers can handle Old Trafford, that could carry serious weight inside United’s recruitment discussions.

He then added: “Arne Slot is part of the summer planning, and it’ll be a huge U-turn, an unexpected situation, if FSG and Liverpool’s leadership team suddenly get to the summer and go, now the season’s ended, we’ve got a different perspective.”

That is a pretty clear message. Liverpool’s owners may not be happy with how the campaign has gone, but they are not treating Slot like a manager on the edge.

The feeling seems to be that he still has credit in the bank because of what he achieved last season.

Winning a league title is not something a club can just ignore, even when the following year becomes messy.

Reds have failed miserably this season

It is clear to see that the wheels have fallen off at Liverpool this season despite their heavy investment in new players.

The signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were expected to elevate the team to a new level but it has completely back fired.

None of the signings have made the desired impact and the Reds are set to end the season without silverware.

It is a bold move from the club to keep the faith in Slot, considering there are options available who could come in to replace him. Xabi Alonso has been recently linked with the Liverpool job.

Many Liverpool fans would clearly love Alonso one day, and if the club ignore that possibility while Slot continues to struggle, the pressure will only grow.

That is probably why Man United like him. He is naturally a left-back, but the original report says he can play on both sides of defense and even step into midfield.

In modern football, that type of flexibility is gold. Managers love players who can solve two or three problems at once, especially when fixture congestion becomes brutal.

United’s left-back situation is also a big part of this story. Luke Shaw has quality, but his injury record has been a constant issue over the years.

The report says Shaw has stayed fit this season and started every Premier League game, but with European football returning to Old Trafford, United want more cover and competition.

The fee being mentioned is around £35 million. That is not cheap, but for a 24-year-old Dortmund player under contract until 2029, it is not outrageous either.

Man United need a versatile presence at the back

Svensson would be a very sensible signing for Man United, maybe not the flashiest, but potentially one of the most useful.

United have made too many signings in recent years based on name value or panic. This feels more like the type of move a serious recruitment department should be considering.

The different angle here is that United do not only need stars. They need reliable, tactically flexible players who can stay fit, press hard, cover ground and make the squad function better. Svensson looks like that kind of player.

The situation around Leão has become a lot more interesting because his relationship with AC Milan no longer looks as strong as it once did.

On paper, it is easy to see why Man United would be interested. Leão has the kind of profile United fans love: quick, direct, skilful, unpredictable and capable of producing moments that change games.

When he is confident, he looks like one of the most dangerous wide forwards in Europe.

He can glide past defenders, carry the ball over long distances and create panic in the final third.

But this is not a simple “sign him and everything is fixed” situation. Leão’s talent is obvious, but so are the questions. His form has been inconsistent, and the mood around him at Milan has shifted badly over the last year.

Football Italia reported in April that he was booed by his own supporters during a 3-0 home defeat to Udinese, while also noting that he had not scored since March 1 at that point.

That matters because Man United are not exactly a calm club to rebuild confidence at.

Old Trafford can lift players, but it can also expose them. If Leão arrives and starts slowly, the pressure would be enormous straight away.

Ramon left Real Madrid for Como in 2025 in a deal worth around €2.5 million, but Madrid protected themselves smartly.

That is where the deal becomes complicated. If Arsenal or Chelsea move for Ramon, Real Madrid could step in first, activate their clause, and either keep him or decide his next step themselves.

They also have the 50% sell-on clause, so even if Como sell directly to the Premier League, Madrid would still benefit financially.

Real Madrid have power over defender’s future

In simple terms, Como have the player, Arsenal and Chelsea may have the interest, but Real Madrid still hold a lot of the power.

Ramon’s rise is not surprising when you look at the profile. He is tall, composed, young, and came through Real Madrid’s academy, which usually gives players a strong technical education. For a centre-back, that matters a lot now.

That explains why Arsenal would like him. Mikel Arteta values defenders who are comfortable on the ball and can fit into a controlled possession system. But Arsenal already have strong centre-back depth, so Ramon might not walk straight into the team.

Chelsea’s interest also makes sense. They have had defensive issues and could offer a clearer route to regular football. For a 21-year-old trying to develop, that might be important.

According to transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, the Italian giants are preparing a contract offer until 2028, with an option to extend it until 2029.

The proposed package is said to be worth around €8 million per year, made up of €6 million in fixed salary and €2 million in bonuses.

The situation around Bernardo looks pretty clear: his time at Man City is coming to an end.

He can play as a winger, attacking midfielder, central midfielder, and even help in deeper build-up phases when needed. He is not the flashiest superstar, but he is one of those players who makes a team function better.

For Juventus, that could be exactly what they need. Over the last few years, Juve have often looked like a club trying to rebuild their identity.

They have had good players, but not always enough control, personality or creativity in midfield. Bernardo would not just bring quality, he would bring know-how.

He understands how to manage games, how to press, how to keep possession and how to make smart decisions under pressure.

The contract length is also interesting. A deal until 2028, with an option for 2029, would potentially keep Bernardo in Turin until he is 34.

Omar Marmoush’s future at Manchester City is already becoming a topic of discussion, even though he has not been at the club for very long.

According to Football Insider, City would want at least €70 million if they decide to sell the Egyptian forward this summer.

That figure is not random either. It is roughly the amount City paid to sign him from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, and the club are apparently not interested in taking a financial hit on a player they only recently brought in.

Aston Villa have been mentioned as a possible destination, but any club interested in Marmoush will know straight away that City are not going to make this an easy or cheap deal.

That does not automatically mean Marmoush has failed, though. Sometimes it takes players time to adjust to Pep Guardiola’s system.

City’s football is not simple. Every movement, every pressing trigger, every pass and every position has to be understood properly. Players who looked brilliant elsewhere have needed months, sometimes longer, before fully clicking at the Etihad.

Aston Villa can offer him an escape route

The Aston Villa link is interesting because Unai Emery’s side could probably offer Marmoush a clearer role. Villa are ambitious, direct and always looking for attacking players who can make quick transitions and hurt teams in space.

Marmoush has the pace, flexibility and technical ability to fit that kind of setup. He can play wide, through the middle and in between the lines, which would make him useful for a team competing in Europe.

Camara joined Monaco from FC Metz in 2024 and has already racked up 70 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.

That is a lot of senior football for someone still only 22, and it explains why Premier League clubs are now starting to pay serious attention to him.

Just last summer, PSG shelled out roughly €40 million to bring him in from Lille as the definitive replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But life under Luis Enrique can be notoriously ruthless, following a shaky start to life at the Parc des Princes, Chevalier found himself benched in favour of Matvey Safonov.

Now, despite holding a contract that runs until 2030, Chevalier is firmly on the market, and Liverpool’s scouting department is reportedly eager to offer him an escape route to the Premier League.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has also been floated as a potential wildcard target if Villa are forced into a big-money summer sale.

Should Liverpool target a move for the PSG goalkeeper?

If he has already struggled to settle at PSG, Liverpool would need to be very sure that he has the mentality to handle Anfield, the Premier League and the pressure of replacing an all-time great.

Signing Chevalier on top of Mamardashvili could create an awkward situation unless there is a very clear plan. Two young goalkeepers fighting for one position sounds good in theory, but in reality, keepers need rhythm, trust and regular matches.

Liverpool should either fully back Mamardashvili or bring in an experienced keeper like Martinez for a shorter-term transition.

Chevalier makes sense only if the club genuinely believes he is better suited to their future than Mamardashvili.

Alisson leaving would be a huge emotional and footballing blow, so it makes sense for Richard Hughes and the recruitment team to look at different options early.

The Gunners already have a strong midfield of Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, not to forget Myles-Lewis Skelly has also been deployed in the midfield and he has been quite impressive.

Tchouameni has been linked with a possible Premier League switch, and talkSPORT’s Andy Brassell believes Mikel Arteta’s side should not ignore the opportunity, especially if Manchester City are also watching the situation closely.

The interesting part is not just that Arsenal could strengthen their own midfield. It is also about stopping one of their biggest title rivals from getting stronger. That is where this story becomes a lot more interesting.

Real Madrid could sell the French midfielder

Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid appears uncertain after reports of a serious training-ground dispute involving him and Federico Valverde.

He is still only in his mid-20s, has a contract until 2028, and is valued at more than £70 million.

“I think it’s a really difficult decision for Real Madrid because there’s so much of what Tchouameni does which should be what they’re going to build around in the years to come,” Brassell told talkSPORT.

“You look at his age, you look at the number of years that he’s got to give them, how much he’s got to develop, how much he’s developed already.

“He’s someone who can play centre-back and not look like a midfielder playing in defence as well. That’s really useful.

“You add on to the fact that he is a real leader and from the moment he arrived, a little bit like Jude Bellingham, he really impressed people with his personality, his attitude, his confidence, his application.

“But there’s no getting away from the fact that he and Valverde have had this serious argument,” Brassell continued to talkSPORT.

“There’s probably an argument that one of them has to go, and basically, Tchouameni’s got a bigger market out there.

“Real Madrid, I think, will at least consider offers – In an ideal world, I don’t think they sell him, but there will always be a market for Tchouameni in the Premier League, and there’ll probably be some recognition of that and depending on the offer, I guess it’s something they might take as well.

“I think when you look at the clubs, there are two obvious answers, and those are the two teams at the top of the league, Arsenal and Manchester City.”

Ultimately, executing a successful raid on Real Madrid for a prime-age international of Tchouameni’s caliber will require a monumental financial package.

Arsenal could make a statement with this signing

Yet, for Arsenal, planning a move for Tchouameni would make a statement and show their rivals that they mean business for next season.

Arteta is an admirer of versatile players who can play in a number of different positions, the Frenchman is exactly that.

Landing the French dynamo would not only future-proof the Gunners’ midfield for peak domestic and European competition but also deliver a profound psychological blow to their rivals.

He is an outstanding player, no doubt. If he becomes available, nearly every top club should at least ask the question.

But from Arsenal’s point of view, the real value might not only be what he adds to their squad.

It is what he prevents City from adding to theirs. That sounds slightly ruthless, but that is what elite clubs do.

When you are fighting for titles, you cannot just think about improving yourself. You also have to think about blocking your rivals from solving their problems.

Joe Gomez could be one of the next experienced Liverpool players facing a big decision this summer.

After spending more than a decade at Anfield, the defender’s future is starting to look a little unclear, especially with only one year remaining on his current contract.

Gomez has been at Liverpool since 2015, making him the longest-serving player currently at the club. That alone says a lot.

He has been through almost everything with the Reds, the highs of winning the Premier League and Champions League, the injury setbacks, the squad rebuilds, and the changing eras under different managers.

But football moves quickly, and this summer may force both the club and the player to think seriously about what comes next.

Joe Gomez has been a brilliant servant for Liverpool

The situation is not exactly simple. Gomez still has plenty to offer. He is experienced, calm, and extremely useful because he can play across the whole back line.

Whether Liverpool need him at centre-back, right-back or even left-back, he has usually been willing to step in and do the job without making a fuss.

But the problem is game time. Injuries have disrupted him again this season, with small fitness issues limiting his rhythm. He has started only 15 matches from 31 appearances, and across the last two campaigns, he has managed just 48 appearances in total.

Asked about his future, he said, as reported by Sky Sports:

“No. I think anything can happen. I don’t know is the honest answer.

“I’ve only got a year left so I don’t know, but whatever is meant to be will be, I guess.

“But I’m so grateful to have had this time here at this club. I’ll always be grateful to have had 11 years at a place like this. All I can do is be thankful and we’ll see.”

For a player approaching 29, that is not ideal. This is the stage of his career where he probably wants to be playing regularly, not sitting around waiting for gaps in the squad.

Liverpool’s defensive options also appear to be getting stronger. Jeremy Jacquet is reportedly arriving from Rennes in a £60 million deal, while Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are expected to return from serious knee injuries.

What next for the English defender?

There has also been outside interest before. Newcastle were linked with him last season, while AC Milan have been mentioned this term.

Liverpool should not push Gomez out without respect, because he has been a loyal servant and has delivered in some huge moments. But at the same time, keeping him around just because he has been there for years would not really help him or the club.

From Gomez’s point of view, a fresh challenge could be exactly what he needs. He is not finished. He is not too old. He still has the qualities to be a regular starter somewhere else.

But at Liverpool, he may now be seen more as a reliable squad option than a first-choice defender.

Liverpool are building for the future, and Gomez may need a club where he can be more than just a useful backup.

That is why names like Fernandes, Rice and Erling Haaland naturally come up before a centre-back like Gabriel.

But Scholes’ argument does make some sense from a different angle. Arsenal are fighting at the very top of the table, and Gabriel has been a massive part of their defensive strength.

Gabriel has been a huge asset for Arteta’s side

He has brought leadership, aggression, consistency and calmness to Mikel Arteta’s side. In a title race, those qualities matter just as much as goals and assists, even if they do not always get the same spotlight.

Scholes is right to give Gabriel more respect, because defenders are too often pushed aside in these conversations.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s most important players and deserves to be mentioned seriously.

Scholes has definitely sparked debate with his surprise choice, and that is probably the point.

Gabriel has been outstanding and deserves more credit than he usually gets, especially in a league that often favours attackers.
