Samsung isn’t letting the December patch rollout be sidelined in the storm of the One UI 8.5 Beta. Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A55 have just quietly joined Samsung’s flagship devices with the December 2025 security update.

December 2025 security update has arrived for the Galaxy A56 and A55. The rollout has started in Korea, with Global expansion pending. Users can check their devices to see if the latest patch has been fetched on their devices.

Samsung’s December update fixes plenty of issues. The company specifically highlighted 68 CVE and SVE items earlier this month. It gives the Android OS and One UI skin a top-notch level of security and privacy.

You can check for the latest software update manually. Just open the phone’s Settings, followed by the Software update menu. Hit the Download and install button to initiate the firmware fetching process on your device.

Galaxy A56 is eligible for new updates every month, while the A55 gets one update every three months. Samsung guarantees its latest Galaxy A phone with seven years of software updates and six major OS upgrades.

Earlier, Samsung rolled out the December patch to the Galaxy A34 5G. Select flagships, including the Galaxy S25 series (Edge and FE, too), Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7, have also received the latest system security improvements.

The phones presently run Android 16-based One UI 8.0 version. Samsung has also kicked off the One UI 8.5 Beta Program. Owners of the Galaxy S25 series phones can join and install the Beta software in select countries.

One UI 8.5 development expands to Galaxy A series

9 December 2025 at 18:55

Samsung Galaxy A56 is the latest Galaxy A-series phone and is one of the best-selling phones globally in the third quarter of 2025. Now, Samsung has also started preparing an Android 16-based One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy A56 internally.

A reliable tipster, @Alfaturk, has spotted a One UI 8.5 testing build for the Galaxy A56 on Samsung’s testing platform. The build number A566BXXU7CYL8 confirms that Samsung has begun working on One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy A56.

This early version shows that the company is actively working to prepare the major software update for A-series devices, along with its flagships. This update will bring several improvements and new features to the phone.

Samsung has already begun rolling out the One UI 8.5 Beta update for some Galaxy phones. Right now, it’s only available for the Galaxy S25 series in a few countries, but Samsung plans to expand it to more phones and countries soon.

If Samsung follows the earlier pattern of One UI beta rollouts, it might also expand the beta update to the latest Galaxy A-series devices, similar to the One UI 8 Beta Program. This means that the Samsung Galaxy A56 might also receive the One UI 8.5 Beta update to try out new features ahead of the official release. However, Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

It is worth noting that the Samsung One UI 8.5 update brings several new features and improvements to provide a better Galaxy experience. Some of these include smoother Galaxy AI image generation, improved device connectivity, smarter Quick Share, enhanced lock screen and weather tools, richer Samsung Health insights, and more.

Samsung Galaxy A-Series takes the spotlight in Q3 2025

5 December 2025 at 22:12

In Q3 2025, Samsungβ€˜s latest Galaxy A series phone sold more than its flagship Galaxy S25 series globally. Samsung and Apple are currently the top smartphone makers, with each company selling five of the top 10 phones. But Q3 brought some interesting changes.

According to Counterpoints Research, Samsung’s Galaxy A36 was the most popular phone in the A series, reaching 7th place in global sales in Q3. Its sibling, the Galaxy A56, also made it into the top 10, coming in 8th. Other A-series phones, including Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy 06, and Galaxy A16 4G, also made it into the top 10.

These mid-range phones are popular because they offer amazing features at a lower price. Samsung added new features like Awesome Intelligence, Best Face, and Nightography, which helped make these phones more appealing.

On the other side, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which was a top-seller in the first two quarters of 2025, did not make it into the top 10 in Q3. It shows that even expensive flagship phones can lose sales when mid-range phones give buyers more value.

Aside from this, Apple remained at the top, with the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max holding the first three spots globally. While Apple dominates flagship phones, Samsung’s Galaxy A series is attracting customers who want the latest features at an affordable price.

The sales of Samsung phones in Q3 2025 clearly show that people are buying more mid-range phones. Samsung’s Galaxy A series proves that mid-range smartphones can be very successful, even beating high-end models like the Galaxy S25 globally.
