Googleโs AI inferencing plans may put Samsung at the center of its TPU strategy
Samsung Foundry may soon add Google as a major client for the manufacturing of its most advanced TPU (AI chips). The two companies are reportedly in positive discussions to assess output and finalize the deal.
Korean outlet TheElec reports that Samsung Foundry and Google are in a state of positive and progressive consultation regarding the TPU AI chips manufacturing.
Currently, Tesla is Samsung Foundryโs biggest client for its Taylor facility. The leading EV maker has signed a $16 billion deal to make AI chips. Samsung is also setting up its Austin fab, where iPhone CIS will be made.
AMD is also in talks with Samsung for contract manufacturing. The Korean tech giant has reportedly offered its enhanced 2nm process to AMD, and Google will likely be receiving the same from Samsung Taylor fab.
With TSMC restricting its 2nm process to Taiwan, Big Tech companies are turning towards Samsung Electronics. The company is targeting to kickstart production at Taylor Foundry in 2026, including the 2nm process.
An industry insider stated, โIt is understood that Samsung Electronics is in positive consultations with Google regarding TPU foundry services.โ
A recent report from DigiTimes spotlighted that โTaiwanโs N-2 policy limits the transfer of TSMCโs advanced semiconductor processes overseas,โ adding that โSamsung could absorb the resulting demand from the US.โ
Samsung could emerge as a viable alternative. The company is preparing to start operations at its advanced foundry fab in Taylor, Texas, with a target date of 2026. The 2nm process is expected to be the primary focus there.

Google adds Maps to Demand Gen channel controls
Google expanded Demand Gen channel controls to include Google Maps, giving advertisers a new way to reach users with intent-driven placements and far more control over where Demand Gen ads appear.
Whatโs new. Advertisers can now select Google Maps as a channel within Demand Gen campaigns. The option can be used alongside other channels in a mixed setup or on its own to create Maps-only campaigns.

Why we care. This update unlocks a powerful, location-focused surface inside Demand Gen, allowing advertisers to tailor campaigns to high-intent moments such as local discovery and navigation. It also marks a meaningful step toward finer channel control in what has traditionally been a more automated campaign type.
Response. Advertisers are very excited by this update. CEO of AdSquire Anthony Higman has been waiting for this for decades:

Google Ads Specialist Thomas Eccel, who shared the update on LinkedIn said: โThis is very big news and shake up things quite a lot!โ
Between the lines. Google continues to respond to advertiser pressure for greater transparency and control, gradually breaking Demand Gen into more modular, selectable distribution channels.
What to watch. How Maps placements perform compared to YouTube, Discover, and Gmailโand whether Google expands reporting or optimization tools specifically for Maps inventory.
First seen. This update was first spotted by Search Marketing Specialist Francesca Poles, when she shared the update on LinkedIn
Bottom line. Adding Google Maps to Demand Gen channel controls is a significant shift that gives advertisers new strategic flexibility and the option to build fully location-centric campaigns.

Report: Everton planning major defensive upgrade with Leeds United star
Everton are looking to improve the defensive unit with the signing of Jayden Bogle from Leeds United.
According to Football Insider, they are looking to sign a quality right back, and they have identified the 25-year-old Leeds United defender as a target. Everton have been scouting the player regularly, and they are impressed with his performances.
It will be interesting to see if they can sign the player in January.
Jayden Bogle would be a quality signing
Bogle has been an important player for Leeds United since joining them in the summer of 2024. He has been ever-present for them in the Premier League this season, and it will be interesting to see if Leeds are willing to sanction his departure. He has a contract with them until 2028, and Leeds are under no pressure to sanction his departure.
Everton might have to pay a premium to convince them. If they manage to get the deal done, the 25-year-old could be the ideal long-term replacement for club legend Seamus Coleman.
Everton are looking to build a formidable team capable of finishing in a respectable position regularly. They need more depth in the defensive unit. They have looked vulnerable at times.
Bogle could be tempted

It will be interesting to see how Bogle feels about a move to Everton. It could be a step up for him.
Leeds United are fighting for survival in the Premier League, and there is no guarantee that they will be competing in the top flight next season. On the other hand, Everton are more or less certain to compete in the Premier League. He could be tempted to join them if there is a concrete proposal on the table.
Meanwhile, Leeds are fighting for survival in the Premier League and losing a key player in January would be a devastating blow. The fans will be worried about the situation.
