From the OTM Mumbai and Chennai Sales Mission, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism hopes to secure possible transactions totaling IDR 48 billion and target Indian tourist arrivals of 40,000. It is a huge improvement compared to the previous years, where similar events have proven successful in achieving the set objectives. For instance, in 2024, the ministry’s attendance at the OTM generated a forecast of possible transactions amounting to IDR 40.7 billion. Winter storms currently sweeping through the Bahamas have impacted operational changes at two favorite private island destinations for cruise passengers. Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean have both made changes to their itineraries and services at their private island stops, Great Stirrup Cay and Perfect Day at CocoCay, after the weather events of the past weekend. Those guests traveling on the impacted cruises have been notified of the changes and reassured that the cruise lines are trying their best to restore services.

Great Stirrup Cay: A Temporary Setback

Great Stirrup Cay is currently undergoing major expansion of its guest experience enhancements. Norwegian Cruise Line, which is the owner of this private island, has made this island a true gem of the Bahamas, with its passengers calling it a fabulous destination. There is plenty to do with a recently opened pier and pool. Winter storms caused Norwegian Cruise Line to note that the island’s pool and pier will not be available. Cruise guests on Norwegian Prima, who are on a seven-day cruise that began in Port Canaveral, have had their itineraries changed.

Norwegian Prima was unable to dock at the island’s pier and was therefore required to anchor off the coast. Guests were taken by tender to the island. To manage guest expectations, the cruise line stated that the island would remain an island with a pool and many other activities to make the visit worthwhile.

The storms did not have a major impact on the itinerary for Norwegian Prima, which includes stops at Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and Grand Cayman. Norwegian Cruise Line stated that construction would continue on the island expansion and that the pier and pool would be available in a week.

When the CocoCay Island attractions also faced some disruptions due to the same winter storms, Royal Caribbean had to make some more alterations to their operations. CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s private island.
