Spurs are now just five points above the relegation zone and could be facing the very real threat of going down if things don’t improve soon.
Although not yet confirmed by Tottenham at the time of writing, numerous outlets, including BBC Sport, are running the story that Frank has been sacked as Spurs manager.

Just last night when he spoke after the defeat to Newcastle, Frank faced a series of questions over his future at the club.
Frank was clearly not happy at the repeated prodding over his situation, but the Danish tactician has now been given his marching orders, so it clearly wasn’t without substance.
Tottenham have had an awful season, with the team once again far too close to the bottom three after they also finished 17th last term.
On that occasion, though, previous manager Ange Postecoglou won the Europa League with THFC, so that was more than a decent silver lining to the campaign.
This time, however, Spurs are already out of both domestic cups, and don’t look like standing much of a chance in the Champions League, even if they have made it into the knockout stages.
Tottenham statement on Thomas Frank
There has now been an official statement on Frank from Tottenham’s official page on X…
The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.
Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today. Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.
However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward.
We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.
There was a slightly awkward moment in Thomas Frank’s post-match interview as he was asked again and again about his future as Tottenham manager.
The Danish tactician is enduring a nightmare spell at Spurs, who sit in 16th place in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation zone.
Frank gave his interviewer a distinctly unimpressed look, which prompted an amused reaction from pundit Michail Antonio.
Antonio felt Frank was being “prodded” a bit too hard about his job safety, and it clearly led to him “boiling up” inside and wanting the interview to end as soon as possible.
It was certainly a bit uncomfortable, and perhaps a sign that Frank is really feeling the pressure right now as results and performances continue to be so poor.

Frank impressed a great deal at former club Brentford, winning 132 games out of a total of 317 across seven years at the club.
At Tottenham, however, the 52-year-old has really struggled, and it looks like they could be in real danger of a relegation battle.

Frank simply hasn’t done enough to improve this Spurs side after they also had a disappointing campaign in 2024/25, finishing in 17th place.
On that occasion, though, Ange Postecoglou led them to glory in the Europa League final, so there was one quite considerable silver lining to the campaign, which is hard to see happening for them now.
The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turned toxic on Tuesday night as supporters reached a breaking point following a devastating 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.
As the final whistle blew, the message from the stands was unmistakable: the fanbase has lost faith in manager Thomas Frank.
Tottenham fans tell Thomas Frank he needs to go
The most damning moment of the evening occurred long after the ball had stopped rolling.
As Thomas Frank made the walk across the pitch toward the tunnel, he was met with a barrage of angry comments from the home support.
Prominent Tottenham fan Chris Cowlin captured the scene on social media, noting that fans were heard shouting “It’s time to go” directly at the Danish coach.
The frustration wasn’t limited to a few disgruntled voices; a significant portion of the South Stand stayed behind to voice their disapproval, signaling that Frank’s time could be over soon.
By chanting for a former manager while the current one is still in the dugout, the fans sent a clear message to the board: they want Pochettino back.
Thomas Frank convinced his job is safe
Despite the poor results and supporters’ growing outrage, Frank claimed after the game that he is convinced he will not be sacked just yet.
Speaking to the media after the latest defeat, he said: “I’m convinced I will still be in charge. I understand the question and it’s easy to point to me, but it’s about the whole club.”

With Spurs sitting just five points above the relegation zone, it is now a matter of urgency for the club.
If they decide to stick with Frank for the remainder of the season, and the results don’t improve, a shock relegation could become a strong possibility.
The toxic atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium reached a breaking point on Tuesday night as home supporters made their feelings known during a dismal display against Newcastle United.
With Spurs trailing and appearing devoid of ideas, the stadium echoed with the loud, rhythmic chanting of one specific name: Mauricio Pochettino.

With Spurs trailing one-nil at half-time, Jay Harris, Tottenham correspondent for The Athletic, took to X to confirm the scenes.
The choice of chant is a pointed message to the board. Pochettino, who led Spurs to a Champions League final and a golden era of Premier League stability, is currently serving as the head coach of the USA National Team.
However, his enduring special connection with the club remains a shadow over every underperforming successor.
Following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, Tottenham’s losing run has extended into a full-blown crisis.
Goals from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey cancelled out a brief glimmer of hope provided by an Archie Gray equaliser, leaving Spurs in 16th place, just five points above the relegation zone.
“Tottenhem”in baş məşqçisi Tomas Frank klubun transfer siyasəti ilə bağlı fikirlərini bildirib.
Komanda.az xarici KİV-ə istinadən xəbər verir ki, danimarkalı baş məşqçiyə klubun ciddi iddialarının olmaması ilə bağlı irad bildirilib. O isə bunları deyib:
“Bu sizin fikrinizdir. “Tottenhem” çox iddialıdır. Oyunçu transfer etmək asan deyil. Bu, “Football Manager” oyunu deyil”.
“Tottenhem” bu qış yalnız bir vacib transfer həyata keçirib. London klubu Madrid “Atletiko”sundan yarımmüdafiəçi Konor Qallaheri transfer edib. Bu keçid “Tottenhem”ə təxminən 40 milyon avroya başa gəlib.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is under a lot of pressure after a disappointing first half of the season.
There have been rumours that he could be shown the door soon if the results do not improve dramatically. However, the recent performance against Manchester City shows that the players retain their faith in the manager and are willing to fight for him. Tottenham were 2-0 down, but they battled hard to secure a 2-2 draw.
Thomas Frank has the backing of his players
Keith Wyness believes Frank has not lost the dressing room yet and that there is hope for him. He is a quality manager who has demonstrated his Pedigree at Brentford. It will be interesting to see if he can silence the doubters at Tottenham and prove his quality.
He told Football Insider: “I don’t think they’re out of getting a European place by any means yet. I think they could still challenge for that and that would be acceptable, I think, to the Spurs fans, and they see some growth coming back.
“But Frank got that second half out of them and that did surprise me. I mean, like everybody, I was writing them off at 2-0 down, but the comeback certainly showed me that the players are still playing for Frank, and so I think, look, it’ll settle down at Spurs. We’ve got to, I hate using the excuse of injuries, but in this case, it is such a long list.”

A club of their stature should regularly push for Champions League qualification and do well in domestic competitions. Instead, Tottenham are in the mid-table positions. It remains to be seen whether they can get the season back on track over the next few weeks.
They have had multiple injury problems, and that has contributed to their struggles. Frank will certainly hope that his key players can return to action quickly and help him salvage the season.
