Arsenal secured their place in the Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive year following a tense, albeit uninspiring, 0-0 draw against Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Gunners progressed 1-0 on aggregate thanks to Kai Havertz’s late heroics in the first leg, but the performance in North London left many critics questioning the team’s momentum.
Despite the lack of attacking spark, Mikel Arteta’s men successfully navigated a cagey encounter to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against Atlético Madrid.

Declan Rice: “Who cares what people think”
Speaking to TNT Sports immediately after the final whistle, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was in no mood to apologise for the pragmatic nature of the victory.
Responding to suggestions that the performance was “frustrating” for the home support, Rice fired back at the mounting criticism following the club’s recent dip in form.
He said:
“I’m delighted. I’m so, so happy. We now want to go one step forward than last season and get to the final. Frustrating? No… we’ve just got to another semi-final. Who cares what people think.”
Rice emphasised that in the knockout stages of elite European competition, the result is the only statistic that matters.
“The tension is there because the stakes are so high. We were disciplined, we kept a clean sheet, and we are in the last four. That’s the reality.”
“Bring on these last couple of weeks!” ?

Having recently suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth and been dumped out of both the FA Cup and League Cup, Arsenal’s season is at a critical crossroads.
With injuries mounting, including a fresh concern for Noni Madueke, Arteta must find a way to reignite his side’s attacking rhythm if they are to overcome Pep Guardiola’s defending champions.
BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has suggested that Arsenal star William Saliba is no longer performing at the world-class level that saw him dubbed the rock of Mikel Arteta’s backline.
The comments were made during a tense Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting CP.
Sutton argued that the individual aura and reliability of the 25-year-old Frenchman have begun to flicker during a high-stakes period of the 2025/26 campaign.

Chris Sutton says William Saliba not the same player anymore
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton expressed concern over Saliba’s recent form, noting a dip in the authoritative presence that previously defined him since return from injury.
“William Saliba, since he got into the team, he has been a rock at the back, but he does not look the player he once was,” Sutton said.
“In the final third, Arsenal were massively disappointing, but defensively, there’s a lack of that ‘clockwork’ precision we’ve seen. On the odd occasion, Noni Madueke has not been confident enough to go around Maxi Araújo, but it’s more to do with their combination play from the back. It should be seamless, and right now, it isn’t.”
Sutton’s critique highlights a growing sense of frustration as Arsenal navigate a make-or-break week.

However, recent lapses, including the defensive miscommunication that led to Bournemouth’s winner, have raised questions about whether fatigue is setting in.
Despite Sutton’s harsh assessment, Saliba remains a vital component of an Arsenal side chasing a historic double.
With captain Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka sidelined through injury, the responsibility on Saliba to anchor the team has never been greater.
Marco Palestra has been linked with a move away from Italy at the end of the season, and Arsenal are interested in him.
The 21-year-old right back is currently on loan at Cagliari, and he will return to Atalanta at the end of the season. Arsenal have been monitoring his progress and are keen to secure his signature. They could offer over €40 million to sign the player.

Arsenal and Man City eye Marco Palestra
However, a report from Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Manchester City are also interested in the defender. Arsenal could use an upgrade on Ben White, and the Italian would be an excellent addition. He is a young player with a lot of potential, and he has shown his quality in Italy this season. He has technical attributes for English football as well. Arsenal could nurture him into a future star.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso. Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move away from Arsenal due to the lack of playing time. They will need to replace him if he moves on.
Having a specialist left back would be ideal for them. Cambiaso has been a star for Juventus. However, he will need guaranteed gametime, and he might not want to join Arsenal as a squad player. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal is prepared to provide him with a clear and defined role in the starting lineup. There is no doubt that he is good enough for the Premier League, and he could help Arsenal improve at both ends of the pitch.
Jacobo Ramon has been linked with a move away from Como at the end of the season, and the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on him.
The player has also been linked with a return to Real Madrid. However, a report from TEAMtalk claims that Real Madrid will wait until 2027 to secure his signature. They want him to return to the club, but they are unwilling to sign him at the end of this season. Their decision has put the Premier League clubs on alert.

Is Jacobo Ramon moving to England?
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool decide to make a move for the 21-year-old central defender in the summer. They need more quality in the defensive unit, and Ramon could prove to be an excellent long-term investment. Chelsea and Liverpool, in particular, have been quite poor at the back. They need to bring in upgrades on players like Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Joe Gomez.
Ramon has proved himself in Italy, and he has the quality to thrive in England as well. He could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Chelsea or Liverpool. The opportunity to play for some of the biggest clubs in England will be hard for him to turn down. Regular football at Chelsea or Liverpool could bring out the best in him and help him fulfil his potential.

It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old is prepared to turn down the opportunity to move to England and wait for Real Madrid until 2027.
Meanwhile, the links with Arsenal are quite surprising. They have the best defensive unit in the country, and they will not be able to accommodate the Spaniard in the starting lineup. It would make no sense for the defender to join them and sit on the bench at the London club.
Real Madrid star Arda Guler has just scored an outrageous freekick to restore the lead for the visitors at the Allianz Arena.
Having already scored one from long range inside one minute following a howler from Manuel Neuer, the young Turk was at it again, this time curling an-inch perfect free-kick straight into the top left corner.
The goal was as good as it gets, with Neuer trying his best to get to it but it was so well placed that he could only get his finger tips to it as it curled straight into the top right corner.
Morten Hjulmand has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, and Manchester United are on him.
According to a football insider, Manchester United are leading the race for the 26-year-old Danish international midfielder, despite links with Manchester City. The report further claims that the player is pushing for a move to the Premier League.

Man United lead Morten Hjulmand race
Manchester City were also linked to the player, but they do not view him as a priority target. They are more interested in signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United now have a clear run at the player, and he is keen on the move as well. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can get the deal done. They need more quality and depth in the middle of the park.
He has an €80 million release clause in his contract, but it is fair to assume he could be available for a more reasonable fee. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United follows up on their interest with an official proposal to get the deal done.
They need to improve in the middle of the park if they want to fight for major trophies next season. They are pushing for a top-three finish in the Premier League this season, and they will look to improve further next year.
Hjulmand will want to prove his quality at the highest level as well. The move to Manchester United would be ideal for him.
Goncalo Inacio has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.
The 24-year-old Portuguese defender has done quite well for club and country, and multiple clubs are monitoring his situation. According to Edu Burgos, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are interested in signing the Sporting CP defender.
He has consistently shown his quality in Portuguese football, and the opportunity to move to England could be exciting. It could be the ideal next step in his career.

Premier League clubs eyeing Goncalo Inacio
Burgos wrote on X: “Gonçalo Inácio awakens interest from the big clubs.
“His great season at Sporting, especially in the Champions League, has drawn attention in England (Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United) and Spain.
“His release clause amounts to 60M€, but it’s negotiable.”
Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have been linked with moves away from Chelsea at the end of the season, and Chelsea will need to replace both players. Chelsea have looked vulnerable at the back of this season, and they need to improve in that area of the pitch. Signing the Portuguese International would be a wise decision.

Similarly, Liverpool need more defensive depth. Joe Gomez has suffered from persistent injury problems, and they need to upgrade on him. Ibrahima Konate will be a free agent at the end of the season and has not yet signed an extension with the club. Inacio could be a quality addition for them. The left-footed defender can operate as a central defender as well as a full back. His versatility would be an added bonus.
A night of high-stakes Champions League drama at the Allianz Arena began with a moment of pure disbelief as Bayern Munich legend Manuel Neuer committed a catastrophic error to gift Real Madrid a lead inside the opening 35 seconds.
The veteran German, so often the gold standard, saw his legendary composure desert him in the most hostile of atmospheres.
Receiving a routine pass back, Neuer appeared to experience a momentary lapse in concentration.
Instead of clearing his lines, he played a casual, lateral pass directly across the edge of his own penalty area.
Incredible finish from Arda Güler
Real Madrid’s teenage sensation Arda Güler was the quickest to react, reading the situation with a maturity far beyond his 21 years.
The young Turk intercepted the stray pass, took one touch to set himself, and unleashed a curling strike from 25 yards.
The ball sailed over Neuer and into the empty net, giving Real Madrid the perfect start to the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Steve McManaman was left stunned by the mistake from the German.
He said on TNT Sports (via BBC Sport): “The best goalkeeper in the world has come up with the most horrendous mistake in the first minute, but what a finish by the young Turk.
“It’s a simple pass back, what is he thinking? I’ve no idea what Neuer was looking at. He was superb last week, but that is an unbelievable error.”

Bayern equalise instantly
While Neuer’s howler threatened to derail Bayern’s European ambitions before the game had even settled, the Bavarian giants showed remarkable resilience.
Refusing to let the early setback define their evening, Vincent Kompany’s side pushed forward immediately and found a way back into the contest just five minutes later.
In the 6th minute, Bayern won a corner following a deflected strike from Harry Kane. Joshua Kimmich’s pinpoint delivery found Aleksandar Pavlović, who rose highest in a crowded box to thunder a header past Andriy Lunin.
Bayern make it 1-1 inside just six minutes, and regain their lead on aggregate ?
Lucas Bergvall has been outstanding for Tottenham since joining the club, and he has been linked with a move away from the London outfit in recent months.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Fabio Paratici could look to swoop for the Swedish International midfielder at the end of the season. The Italian helped Tottenham sign the player during his time, and he could look to bring the player to Fiorentina now.

Lucas Bergvall linked with an exit
Bergvall is highly rated at Tottenham, and it is extremely unlikely that they will let the player leave. He has all the attributes to develop into a future star. They must keep players like him at the club if they want to build a formidable team for the future.
Having said that, they are fighting for survival in the Premier League. If they go down to the championship, it will be difficult for them to keep their best players.

“To be honest, Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham are currently only focused on staying in the Premier League,” Di Marzio said via Fotboll Direkt.
“They are not listening to offers, and they have not even decided which players they want to keep or sell. If I were to name a club that I think could potentially sign Lucas Bergvall if Tottenham were to let him leave, I think Fiorentina is an option.
“Their sports director Fabio Paratici likes young players, and especially Bergvall. So, they could try to sign him if his future does not lie in Tottenham. If he is on the market, Fiorentina will try.”
Bergvall could be tempted to join a big club if Tottenham go down, but the move to Fiorentina might not be as appealing. He will want to join a club where he can regularly compete for major trophies. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. Bergvall has also been linked with Chelsea.
Arsenal are keeping tabs on the highly talented Fredrikstad FK midfielder Eirik Granaas.
According to a report from TV2, Arsenal are interested in the 16-year-old midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the summer. He could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the club.

Eirik Granaas on the radar of top clubs
The 16-year-old is highly rated across Europe, and multiple clubs are scouting him. Along with Arsenal, RB Leipzig are keeping tabs on the talented young midfielder as well.
The opportunity to join a big club in the summer will be exciting for Granaas, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. He has a contract with the Norwegian club until December 20 27, and he could be available for a reasonable fee in the summer. That said, TV2 claims the Norwegian outfit will hold out for a club-record fee for the youngster. They sold Fallou Fall for just under 40 million kroner last year, and they will demand more than that for Granaas.
Arsenal have the financial muscle to get across the line, and they will be an attractive destination for the young playmaker as well. They are among the biggest clubs in the world, and they have an outstanding track record of grooming young players. They could help Granaas fulfil his tremendous potential.
The 16-year-old has already broken through to the first team seen at the Norwegian club, and it remains to be seen whether he is prepared to live in the summer. He needs regular high-level opportunities to continue his development. At Arsenal, he is unlikely to get opportunities in the Premier League right away.
Granaas should focus on his development for now. He will have plenty of opportunities to play for elite clubs if he fulfils his potential in future.
Jose Mourinho has emerged as a “genuine contender” for a sensational return to the Premier League, with the Portuguese icon reportedly identified as the leading candidate to replace Eddie Howe at Newcastle United.
According to the latest from talkSPORT, the Newcastle hierarchy are seriously considering a change in leadership following a string of poor results that has seen the Magpies slump to 14th in the table.
The club’s Saudi owners are believed to be increasingly attracted to the idea of a “big-name” appointment to spearhead the next phase of their project at St James’ Park.

The report suggests that Mourinho, currently managing Benfica, has significant admirers within the Newcastle boardroom.
While Eddie Howe has credit in the bank after delivering the League Cup last season, recent defeats, including a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace where Newcastle surrendered a first-half lead, have put his position under immense scrutiny.
As per talkSPORT, if Howe leaves this summer, Mourinho is the main target, though he is also expected to be a top candidate for the Portugal national team after the World Cup should Roberto Martinez step down.
Jose Mourinho’s Premier League record
A move to Tyneside would mark Mourinho’s fifth stint in English football, having previously managed Chelsea (twice), Manchester United, and Tottenham.
His track record in the Premier League remains one of the most decorated in history:
Premier League Titles: 3 (2004/05, 2005/06, 2014/15)
Total PL Wins: 217
Win Percentage: ~60%
Major English Trophies: 3 Premier Leagues, 1 FA Cup, 4 League Cups

While his pragmatic style may not go down well with the Newcastle faithful, his history of delivering immediate silverware is precisely what the PIF-backed ownership desires.
Mourinho has previously teased a return to London, which he considers home, but the temptation of the “elite support and financial backing” at Newcastle may prove impossible to resist.
Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Santiago Castro, and they will scout the player in action when Bologna takes on Aston Villa on Thursday night.
The two teams will be in action in the Europa League, and Castro will look to make his mark on the game, as per Il Resto del Carlino.
The player has 11 goals and four assists in all competitions this season, and he has impressed Manchester United and Chelsea with his performances. The 21-year-old is a talented young striker with a bright future, and he could prove to be a quality long-term investment for both clubs.
Manchester United and Chelsea have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it remains to be seen whether they follow up on their interest with an official offer at the end of the season. Manchester United will need to replace Joshua Zirkzee in the summer. The Netherlands international is not a key player for them, and his performance in the Premier League has been mediocre. He will also want to move on in search of regular playing time.
Castro could compete with Benjamin Sesko for the starting spot at Manchester United next season. The competition for places could bring out the best in both players.
Meanwhile, Chelsea need more depth in the attacking unit as well. They have been overly dependent on Joao Pedro. Liam Delap has found the back of the net just once in all competitions. They need to replace him in the summer.
Castro has the technical attributes to do well in the Premier League, and he could be a superb option for Chelsea in the attack.
It will be interesting to see if Bolona is prepared to sanction his departure in the summer. They have a reputation for selling talented players for the right price, and they have sanctioned exits of Riccardo Calafiori, Joshua Zirkzee and Dan Ndoye in recent windows.
Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike picked up a serious Achilles tendon injury against PSG in the UEFA Champions League last night.
The French International could be sidelined for 9 to 12 months. They are now looking to bring in two quality attackers at the end of the season. According to a report from TEAMtalk, they are interested in signing the Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon.
The former Everton star has done quite well for Newcastle this season, and he could be a superb acquisition for Liverpool. He is a dynamic attacker who can operate on the flanks as well as a Centre forward. He will add goals and creativity to the team. He is well settled in the Premier League, and he could make an immediate impact at Liverpool. In addition, he is a lifelong Liverpool fan, which could give Liverpool an edge in the transfer race.
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle is prepared to sanction his departure. They are struggling in the attack right now, and selling their best attacking player would be a huge blow.
On the other hand, Liverpool are admirers of Iliman Ndiaye as well. The Senegal International has been outstanding for Everton, and it remains to be seen whether the Toffees are willing to sell him to their bitter rivals. Ndiaye has 9 goal contributions in the league.
The report further claims that Jarrod Bowen, Harry Wilson and Bazoumana Toure are on Liverpool’s radar as well. They will need to replace Mohamed Salah at the end of the season, and signing quality wingers should be a priority for them. They have not been able to replace Luis Diaz yet, who left the club at the start of the season. Investing in two quality wide players would be ideal.
Gordon and Ndiaye are indispensable assets for their respective clubs, and they are likely to cost a lot of money.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick faces a defensive crisis ahead of Saturday’s clash against Chelsea, with both Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez confirmed to miss the trip to Stamford Bridge.
The news would come as a significant blow to United’s pursuit of a top-four finish, as Carrick will be forced to field a makeshift backline against a Chelsea side currently sitting just seven points behind them in the table.

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez out of Chelsea clash
The 33-year-old was penalised for his aggressive reaction toward fourth official Matt Donohue following a red card in United’s recent 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
Although Maguire had already served a suspension for the initial dismissal, the FA ruled that his “improper manner and abusive words” warranted further punishment.
Adding to Carrick’s woes, Lisandro Martínez will also be absent. The Argentine defender is starting a three-match ban for violent conduct after he was caught pulling the hair of Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin during Monday’s 2-1 defeat.
With Matthijs de Ligt still sidelined through injury, United are expected to rely on 20-year-old Leny Yoro and teenage prospect Ayden Heaven to anchor the defense against the Blues.

Igor Paixao has been linked with a move away from Marseille, and Liverpool are interested in securing his signature.
The 25-year-old has impressed with his explosive pace and dribbling ability at the French club. Liverpool is looking to add more cutting-edge in the final third, and they believe the 25-year-old Brazilian could be an excellent addition for them.
Paixao joined Marseille for a fee of €30 million, and the French outfit could look to double their investment in the player, as per SportsBoom. He has 19 goal contributions this season.
Along with Liverpool, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on his situation. Both teams need more quality in the final third. The Brazilian will add unpredictability and technical ability to the team. The opportunity to play for Arsenal or Liverpool will be hard to turn down. They are among the biggest clubs in the world, and they could provide him with the platform to fight for major trophies. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to pay the asking price for him. €60 million is a lot of money, and they will hope to sign the player for a more reasonable fee.
The report claims that Arsenal are preparing an offer of €35 million plus bonuses for the Brazilian attacker. It remains to be seen whether they can beat Liverpool to his signature.
Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze have not been able to live up to expectations since joining the club, and Arsenal need someone who can take on defenders, beat them in 1v1 situations, and create opportunities.
Liverpool will need to replace Mohamed Salah, who has announced he will leave the club in the summer. It remains to be seen where the Brazilian ends up.
Arsenal are interested in signing the Sunderland defensive midfielder Noah Sadiki at the end of the season.
According to reports from Spain, they have identified the 21-year-old as a key target for the summer transfer window. The DR Congo International has impressed in the Premier League since joining the Black Cats at the start of the season. It will be difficult for them to hold onto him beyond this season. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also admire the player.
The 21-year-old midfielder has a contract with Sunderland until 2030, and they are under no pressure to sanction his departure in the summer. Arsenal will have to pay a premium to get the deal done. They could use an upgrade on Christian Norgaard, and signing the Sunderland star could be a wise investment. He is a young player with a bright future, and Arsenal could groom him into a star. He will add physicality and defensive cover to the team.
The opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country will be exciting for Sadiki as well.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will need to replace Joao Palhinha. The Portuguese international will leave the club when his loan expires. They need a defensive presence in the middle of the park, and the 21-year-old Sunderland star could be the ideal fit for them.
Chelsea already have Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia at their disposal. It will be interesting to see how they accommodate the 21-year-old in the starting lineup if they end up signing him. Sadiki will want to play regularly. Sitting on the bench at a big club will not appeal to him.
Liverpool fans have been hit with the worst possible news as their season continues to spiral, with star forward Hugo Ekitike confirmed to miss up to nine months after suffering a devastating injury during Tuesday night’s Champions League exit to PSG.
The atmosphere at the club, already described as being at an all-time low, has plummeted further with the confirmation of a ruptured right Achilles tendon.

“Hugo Ekitike faces several months out with an Achilles tendon injury sustained in the Champions League quarter-final defeat. The French international will miss the World Cup and could be sidelined for up to nine months.”
Ekitike, who has been Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 17 goals, might not return to training until 2027.
Manager Arne Slot, who had already seen his side dumped out of the FA Cup and Champions League in a matter of days, admitted the situation looks really bad.
Liverpool’s mounting attacking crisis
The timing of Ekitike’s injury creates a catastrophic vacuum in Liverpool’s frontline.
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as apreferred source on Googleto your favourites list for news you can trust
With Mohamed Salah officially confirmed to be leaving Anfield this summer and club-record signing Alexander Isak still struggling to find his rhythm after returning from a broken leg, the Reds are facing a total offensive rebuild.
Slot’s “star signings” from last summer have rarely been able to play together due to a persistent injury curse.
Chelsea are looking to replace Robert Sanchez at the end of the season, and they have identified James Trafford as a target.
The English goalkeeper has struggled for regular opportunities at Manchester City and might need to leave to play more often. He’s a talented goalkeeper with a bright future, but sitting on the bench at Manchester City could be detrimental to his development. He needs regular opportunities in order to fulfil his potential.
Sanchez has failed to live up to the expectations at Chelsea, and they are prepared to cash in on him. Replacing him with Trafford could be a wise decision. The Manchester City goalkeeper will be determined to prove himself at the highest level, and his hunger to succeed will be a huge bonus for Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester City is willing to sanction his departure.
According to reports from Spain, the player’s market value is around €25 million. The 23-year-old certainly has the quality to justify the investment, and he could even prove to be a major bargain at that price.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is not the only club after him. Newcastle United and Tottenham are also monitoring his situation.
Newcastle need a quality long-term replacement for Nick Pope, who is in the twilight stages of his career. On the other hand, Tottenham need a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario, who has been quite inconsistent. The Italian has been linked with a return to his homeland, and Trafford could be the ideal replacement.
All three clubs have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it remains to be seen where the 23-year-old Manchester City goalkeeper ends up eventually.
Arsenal are prepared to sanction the departures of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz at the end of the season.
Jesus has recently returned from injury and has struggled for gametime with the London club. He needs to leave in order to play more often. It is no surprise that Arsenal are prepared to sanction his departure. He is not a guaranteed starter for them, and they should look to cash in on the Brazilian and invest the proceeds into the squad.
According to reports from Spain, they are prepared to sell Jesus for €40 million in the summer. On the other hand, Havertz has fallen down the picking order at the north London club, and he could be sold for a fee of around €80 million. The German International has not been able to make the desired impact since joining Arsenal, even though he has shown flashes of his quality at times, and he has scored some important goals for the club.
The report claims that Arsenal view Viktor Gyokeres as the focal point of their attacking unit going forward, and therefore, they would be prepared to sell the two players for a substantial sum in the summer.
Arsenal will be hoping to fight for League titles and the Champions League in the coming season. They need a deeper squad in order to do well across multiple competitions. Keeping multiple quality players at the club should be a priority for them. Havertz and Jesus are dynamic attackers who can slot into multiple roles and perform at a high level. They could prove very useful to the club in the future.
Havertz, in particular, is a technically gifted player and tactically quite intelligent. He has been labelled as an “amazing player” by his teammates in the past. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Bayern Munich are reportedly exploring attacking reinforcements ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, with Brian Brobbey emerging as a player of interest following his encouraging debut campaign in the Premier League.
According to The Independent, the German champions have been closely tracking the Sunderland forward, who has made a positive impression during his first full season in England’s top flight.

At 24 years old, Brobbey represents the type of developing striker Bayern have historically targeted to strengthen squad depth.
With Harry Kane firmly established as the club’s primary goal scorer, Bayern are believed to be seeking reliable competition capable of supporting the England captain while also contributing meaningful minutes across multiple competitions.
Brian Brobbey has made a mark at Sunderland
Brobbey’s journey to the Premier League has been marked by steady development and persistence.
Having previously gained recognition during his time with Ajax, where he demonstrated physical strength and sharp finishing ability.
His move to Sunderland provided an opportunity to test his abilities in one of the world’s most demanding leagues. Despite the challenges associated with adapting to Premier League football,
Brobbey has shown encouraging signs of growth.
Since signing Kane, Bayern Munich have relied heavily on the England international’s goal-scoring consistency.
However, the demands of competing across domestic and European competitions have reinforced the need for additional attacking depth.
Historically, Bayern have maintained strong competition within the squad to ensure sustained performance levels.
The addition of a striker like Brobbey would not only provide cover for Kane but also create tactical flexibility.
Getting Sunderland to part ways with their marquee striker won’t be a walk in the park.
The Black Cats are well aware of his rising stock and will undoubtedly demand a premium fee to sanction his departure, especially knowing the depths of Bayern’s pockets.
The lure of Champions League football and competing for major honors is usually too strong for any player to ignore.
Brobbey would jump at the opportunity to play for a club like Bayern Munich.
Manchester United’s search for long-term stability in the dugout appears to be gathering pace, with fresh reports suggesting that club officials have recently reached out to the representatives of Julian Nagelsmann.
According to a source circulating on social media platform X, contact between United and Nagelsmann’s camp was made within the last 24 hours, signaling that the club may be actively exploring alternatives as they evaluate their managerial options ahead of the new season.

The German tactician’s growing reputation across Europe makes him a natural figure of interest for a club aiming to restore consistent success.
Man United are looking for a long term manager
Following a devastating string of domestic results, highlighted by that bitter, humbling defeat to bitter rivals Leeds United, Carrick’s grip on the managerial wheel has looked incredibly shaky.
While the board has reportedly paused any immediate mid-season sackings, reaching out to a heavyweight like Nagelsmann proves they are actively putting out feelers and exploring elite contingency plans.
The ownership group is desperate to implement a modern, progressive footballing identity, and the 38-year-old German fits the INEOS blueprint flawlessly.
However, pulling off this massive managerial coup won’t be a simple walk in the park.
Nagelsmann is currently at the helm of the German national team, entirely focused on preparing Die Mannschaft for the fast-approaching 2026 World Cup in North America.
This means United’s recent approach is highly likely aimed at testing the waters and securing a pre-agreement for Nagelsmann to officially take over the Old Trafford hot seat once his World Cup campaign concludes in mid-July.
From a purely tactical standpoint, it’s incredibly easy to see why Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his sporting directors are infatuated with the idea.
Nagelsmann is renowned across Europe for his high-octane, fluid pressing systems, the exact brand of aggressive, front-foot football that United fans have been begging to see for years.
It’s no secret that focusing on just one competition can be beneficial to a team when it comes to the cut-throat run-in to any given season. That’s simply common sense. Fewer games mean star players can sit out games of lesser importance in order to be in tip-top condition for those that matter. Never has that been more noticeable than at Atletico Madrid in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Unlike in recent campaigns when Diego Simeone’s men have been competing alongside both Barcelona and Real Madrid in a quest to win La Liga, this season, Los Rojiblancos are well off the pace and are simply settling for a spot in the top four. But while that may be somewhat of a pessimistic approach, it is also a smart one. Atleti have already secured a spot in the Copa Del Rey final by beating Barca across two legs in the semifinals, and now, they look poised and ready to dump the Blaugrana out of the Champions League as well.
Atletico Madrid Stun Barcelona
The Spanish capital’s perceived “second club” headed to Catalonia for the first leg of their quarterfinal in the Camp Nou with the betting odds stacked against them. Some outlets listed them as long as 5/1 to secure the victory against the current runaway La Liga leaders, as well as 25/1 outsiders to win the Champions League outright. But Simeone’s side has never been one to shy away from their underdog status.
With ‘El Cholo’ heavily rotating his squad domestically in the weeks leading up to the contest, Atletico were fresh and ready for the fight. Barcelona, meanwhile, looked jaded and in need of a rest. And when their highly rated teenage defender Pau Cubarsi was sent off on the stroke of half-time with the game finely poised at 0-0, Simeone and Atleti took full advantage. Julian Alvarez slammed home the resulting free kick to give the visitors the lead, before Alexander Sørloth bundled home to double the lead in the second half.
Atletico now have a 2-0 lead to defend in the second leg, and they will do so with a fully rested squad, and with history on their side. Los Rojiblancos haven’t lost when hosting the second leg of a Champions League tie in 29 years, let alone by two clear goals. As such, it’s safe to say that those aforementioned betting odds have now swung in their favour.
Websites allowing soccer betting with Bitcoin now give Atletico a 10/1 shot to win the Champions League this season, less than half of the 25/1 they were ahead of the first leg. As they continue to rest players in La Liga to focus on their continental adventure, those odds will surely shorten further should they make it through to the semifinals.
Atletico aren’t the first team to see their European efforts benefit from not being involved in a domestic title fight. Here are two other teams that have also followed the same blueprint.
Chelsea
When Roman Abramovich took over Chelsea in the summer of 2004, the one trophy he valued above all others was the Champions League. The Blues would reach the semifinals of the competition five times in their first six seasons in charge, even reaching the final for the first time in 2008. Unfortunately for the Russian owner, his West London side lost all of them, with their Premier League fortunes — the club won three league titles throughout the same time frame — costing them dearly on the continental stage.
By 2012, the club was in disarray domestically. Out of league contention by the new year, interim manager Roberto Di Matteo — appointed following the disastrous tenure of Andre Villas-Boas — immediately prioritised the Champions League above all other competitions. The decision paid dividends.
While Chelsea finished fifth in the Premier League, they would go on to lift the famous big-eared trophy for the first time, beating both Barcelona in the semi-finals and Bayern Munich — on their home turf — in the final in fairytale fashion. And nine years later, history would repeat itself, as Thomas Tuchel led a Blues team that finished fourth in the Premier League to a second-ever Champions League crown.
AC Milan
Carlo Ancelotti’s AC Milan were arguably the Champions League’s dominant force throughout the 2000s. They reached three finals in five seasons between 2003 and 2007, winning two of them. On none of those runs to European football’s showpiece fixture, however, did they win Serie A. In fact, they barely even competed for the Scudetto.
In the 2002/03 season, the Rossoneri finished third in the Italian top flight, a whopping 11 points behind Juventus. However, the Bianconeri were forced to continually play stars such as Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet week after week as they looked to pip Inter to the title. Don Carlo, meanwhile, was able to rest his key men, and that was the crucial difference maker as his side beat Juve in the Old Trafford final.
Two years later, Milan would reach the final once again, and once again, they were never truly in Scudetto contention, finishing seven points behind Juve. Still, the likes of Kaka and Andriy Shevchenko — who were well-rested — powered them to the Champions League final, and it looked as though they would once again lift the trophy when they raced into a 3-0 halftime lead against Liverpool in Istanbul. Unfortunately for them, they would fall victim to one of football’s greatest ever miracles as the Reds mounted a comeback for the ages. But still, the blueprint of prioritising Europe over domestic matters shone through.
In 2007, the agony of that Istanbul collapse would end as Milan met Liverpool once again in the final, this time in Athens. This time around, the Rossoneri finished a whopping 36 points behind cross-city rivals Inter as they finished fourth in Serie A. But their domestic woes were irrelevant when Filippo Inzaghi’s brilliant brace downed the Reds in the Greek capital to claim the European Cup yet again. Nearly two decades on, Atletico Madrid look to follow in those illustrious footsteps.
Altay Bayindir seems to have finally reached his absolute breaking point at Manchester United.
With the summer transfer window peeking around the corner, the Turkish international is reportedly plotting his escape route from Old Trafford.

According to Fanatik, the 28-year-old shot-stopper has officially agreed on personal terms with Istanbul giants Besiktas, setting the stage for a highly dramatic return to his homeland.
When Bayindir arrived in Manchester back in the summer of 2023, he knew he was stepping into a challenging environment.
However, he probably didn’t expect to be quite this starved for minutes. Throughout his tenure at the club, the goalkeeper has been a back up option for the Premier League side.
Altay Bayindir has struggled to impress at Man United
First he played second fiddle to Andre Onana and this season he has been the back up for Senne Lammens.
For a goalkeeper of Bayindir’s pedigree and ambition, sitting on the bench week in and week out just isn’t sustainable, especially when he is desperate to maintain his standing within the Turkish national team setup.
Before his big-money move to England, Bayindir was the captain and a beloved figure at Fenerbahce.
Moving back to the Turkish league to join Besiktas is a massive, highly controversial move that will undoubtedly dominate the sports pages in Turkey.
Besiktas move could revive the goalkeeper’s career
Besiktas have been actively hunting for a commanding, top-tier presence between the sticks, and scooping up a homegrown star who is incredibly hungry to prove himself is a clever piece of business.
Man United would have to step into the market again to sign a new back-up goalkeeper to replace the Turkish star.
It’s the news every Liverpool and France fan has been absolutely dreading.
fter Hugo Ekitike was forced off the pitch in clear agony during that miserable Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, the collective mood around Anfield was incredibly bleak.

A fresh update has just emerged straight from Ekitike’s family camp, and it’s an absolute heartbreaker for the young forward.
The French attacker went down against PSG in the Champions League, holding his lower leg in agony.
He was replaced by Mohamed Salah in the Champions League quarterfinal and it became clear straight away Ekitike has suffered a serious blow.
Ekitike injury update confirmed by his family

According to journalist Lassana Camara, close members of Ekitike’s family have sadly confirmed the harsh reality of the situation.
He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, meaning his 2025/26 campaign is officially over in the blink of an eye.
The journalist reported:
“Hugo Ekitike is out for the rest of the season + the World Cup!
“No Achilles tendon rupture, however, all of this confirmed by his family.”
For Arne Slot and Liverpool, this is basically the final nail in the coffin of a genuinely disastrous week.
Losing your top scorer, a guy who has been the absolute focal point of the attack with 11 crucial league goals this term, at the most critical juncture of the season is a catastrophic blow.
A massive loss for Liverpool and France national team
Ekitike’s injury would not only have consequences this season but it could also alter Liverpool’s summer transfer window plans.
Although they still have Alexander Isak at the club, who is struggling with fitness issues of his own, the Merseyside club might look to add more depth in the attacking department.
As for Ekitike, he would most likely miss the World Cup for France which is a blow to the French and the striker’s ambitions.
issing out on the biggest tournament on the planet when you are arguably in the form of your life is the kind of bad luck that makes you feel bad for the Liverpool star.
Hopefully, he bounces back even stronger next season, but for now, it’s just a massively bitter pill to swallow for the player, his club, and his country.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus could find himself at the center of transfer speculation this summer, with reports suggesting the Brazilian striker is willing to consider potential offers should interest arise.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the 29-year-old recently changed representation, a move that often signals preparation for key career decisions, although his immediate focus remains on finishing the current season strongly with the Gunners.

Jesus remains under contract at Arsenal until 2027, giving the club a strong position in any negotiations.
Change of agent signals at possible move for Jesus
Romano has reported that Jesus’ new representation could open the door to fresh discussions regarding his future, even though no formal move is currently underway.
Since joining Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, Jesus has been an important figure in Mikel Arteta’s tactical system.
However, injuries have disrupted his rhythm in recent seasons, limiting his ability to deliver consistent goal-scoring numbers.
Also, the arrival of Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres at the club has limited the playing time that Jesus used to get at the club.
The Brazilian attacker has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium and that could force him to look at other options in the market.
Arsenal transfer strategy could influence the decision of Jesus
Arsenal are widely expected to strengthen their forward line in the summer, particularly as the club seeks a reliable, high-output striker capable of delivering consistently in major competitions.
Although they have Gyokeres has who impressed this season but they are still being linked with new attackers to lead their attack.
One such name is Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez, who according to our exclusive today, remains high at the wishlist for Arteta and his management.
If Arsenal do bring in a new striker, it could affect Jesus’ role within the squad.
While his versatility remains a significant advantage, allowing him to operate across the front line, increased competition could prompt both player and club to evaluate the most suitable path forward.
Manchester United remain supportive of Michael Carrick despite a disappointing defeat to Leeds United, with club officials continuing to view him as a strong candidate for the permanent managerial role.
Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the mood inside Old Trafford remains positive regarding Carrick’s leadership, even as speculation links Andoni Iraola with a possible move to Manchester.

The loss to Leeds sparked renewed debate among fans and pundits about United’s long-term managerial direction.
“After the Leeds defeat, which was impacted by the referees, Man Utd remain feeling really positive about Carrick.
“They’re very happy with his attitude, tactical decisions, approach, and the relationship he has with the dressing room.
“They want to be in the UCL next season, so that remains the target for Carrick in the next six games, which is when United will make the decision on the permanent manager.”
The Red Devils have won just one out of their last four games. It is a massive turnaround from how Carrick started his tenure as the interim manager this season.
Carrick has done well since replacing Ruben Amorim
Since stepping into the role following the departure of Ruben Amorim, Carrick has been tasked with stabilising performances and guiding the club through a crucial phase of the season and he has done a brilliant job in the role.
Romano has indicated that the club’s internal sentiment toward Carrick remains “really positive,” even after the recent defeat.
United officials are believed to value his calm leadership and the sense of unity he has fostered within the dressing room.
United’s hopes of securing Champions League football are likely to be the defining factor in determining Carrick’s future. Finishing among Europe’s elite would strengthen his position significantly and validate the club’s decision to trust him during a transitional period.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has delivered a brutal warning to his underperforming squad: expect a massive summer fire sale, and don’t assume your spot is safe just because you’re considered a “good player.”
Following a string of nightmare results, the honeymoon period at Anfield is officially dead and buried, and management is ready to clean house.

The Reds have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester City and in the Champions League, they have once again been dumped out of the competition by Paris Saint-Germain.
If the European exit wasn’t bad enough, the night was completely overshadowed by a devastating, potentially season-ending injury to star striker Hugo Ekitike.
Nothing is going right for the Merseyside club and this upcoming summer transfer window promises to be crucial for the Premier League side.
Slot explains Liverpool transfer plans for the summer
Slot is reportedly fuming over the miserable return on investment from a squad that has seen a staggering £450 million pumped into it over recent transfer windows.
Behind closed doors, he has essentially told the dressing room that the current standards are utterly unacceptable.
‘That is what we have to play for now in the coming weeks,’ Slot told Amazon Prime. as reported by Daily Mail.
‘The good thing is Alex (Isak) is back, well able to make minutes.
‘Much has been said that the club is in a transition. The club has sold eight or 10 players to make money to sign five or so very talented players. We have to sell to buy.
‘We are losing some players on a free transfer. It is a big challenge in the summer but the club has shown this model works. As I said many times the future looks very good, especially if we can sign players after good players leaving this summer.’
The Jadon Sancho era at Manchester United is finally coming to an end.
His arrival promised so much but he failed to deliver at the biggest stage. He was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa but none of the moves proved to be beneficial for him and to revive his Man United career.

According to the Mirror, the 26-year-old England winger has his heart completely set on a permanent return to Borussia Dortmund when his Old Trafford contract officially expires this summer.
However, if he wants to reunite with the famous Yellow Wall, he is going to have to accept a seriously drastic wage cut to make the math work.
Man United spell has been a nightmare for Sancho
Sancho’s mega-money move to Manchester back in 2021 just hasn’t worked out for anyone involved.
He originally arrived as one of Europe’s most exciting and explosive creative talents, commanding a staggering £73 million transfer fee and landing a blockbuster contract reportedly worth north of £250,000 a week.
Fast forward five years, and his time in England has been dominated by inconsistent form, off-pitch drama, and heavy stints out of the first-team picture.
Dortmund are ready to offer him a new career lifeline
While Dortmund would absolutely love to welcome their former golden boy back on a permanent, full-time basis, the German club operates in a completely different financial model compared to the Premier League giants.
They simply cannot, and will not, blow up their wage bill to match the absurd money Sancho has been raking in over in Manchester.
At 26 years old, he should be stepping into his absolute prime. He knows exactly how good he can be in the Bundesliga, an environment that perfectly suits his technical, fluid style of play. But walking away from premium Premier League money is always dificult for players.
Unai Emery’s side have entered the race to sign highly-rated Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, according to Daily Mail.
With mounting uncertainty surrounding the future of their World Cup-winning number one, Emiliano Martinez, Villa are proactively searching for a long-term successor, and the 23-year-old Englishman has rocketed straight to the top of their wishlist.

Trafford’s current situation at Man City is undeniably frustrating for a player of his immense potential.
After originally progressing through City’s academy and making a name for himself with some incredible shot-stopping displays at Burnley, he made a triumphant return to the Etihad just last summer.
However, the fairytale homecoming was abruptly derailed when Pep Guardiola’s side also pulled off the blockbuster signing of 27-year-old Italian superstar Gianluigi Donnarumma.
James Trafford is looking for more playing time
As a result, Trafford has found himself glued to the bench. Despite recently earning his senior England debut, you can’t expect a 23-year-old with his ceiling to be content playing second fiddle forever.
He’s been limited to barely over 250 league minutes this season, meaning he is widely expected to push for a move this summer in search of the regular first-team football he desperately needs to continue his development.
Over at Villa Park, the pursuit of Trafford makes perfect financial and tactical sense.
Martinez is an absolute club legend, but at 33 years old, there is a growing acceptance that his time in the Midlands might be drawing to a natural conclusion.
The Argentine is one of Villa’s highest earners, and cashing in on him now would provide a massive boost as the club navigates tricky Premier League and UEFA financial and sustainability regulations.
Trafford is a commanding, modern goalkeeper with brilliant distribution skills and excellent reflexes, traits that Emery heavily relies on to build out from the back.
Man City are notorious for driving a hard bargain and will likely demand a hefty fee, potentially upwards of £30 million, to part with a young domestic asset.
During Liverpool’s massive heavyweight clash against Paris Saint-Germain, the wind was completely sucked out of the stadium when star striker Hugo Ekitike went down with a horrible injury.
Instead of dissecting the tactical battle of a classic European tie, the post-match conversation was purely focused on the 23-year-old’s health and unfortunately, the early signs are incredibly grim.
The French attacker has been in incredible form for the Premier League giants this season.
His injury came as a massive blow to Liverpool’s chances to mount a comeback.
A devastating blow to Liverpool and France

Moreover, his injury looked so serious that questions are being raised about the chances of participation in the World Cup this summer.
Speaking to the media after the final whistle, Liverpool center-back Ibrahima Konaté didn’t try to sugarcoat the situation regarding his club teammate and French compatriot.
Looking visibly shaken by what he saw on the pitch, Konaté offered a sobering update.
“I think it’s a bad injury,” the defender admitted to reporters, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
“I don’t want to talk about that because with the World Cup, all of the things coming this summer, it’s very, very hard for him at this moment. I send him my prayers and everything.”
He was practically a guaranteed lock to be selected for Didier Deschamps’ French squad heading to North America for the 2026 World Cup this summer.
To suffer a potentially tournament-ending blow in the middle of a career-best season, and ironically, while playing against his former employers in PSG, is really unfortunate.
Amidst all this, it should be remembered that the Premier League side are waiting for more information regarding the injury. Even though it looks bad, no time-frame can be put on it.
The Red Devils are expected to be active in the summer transfer window and they are planning to strengthen their attacking as well as defensive ranks.

Their latest defeat in the Premier League against Leeds United exposed more problems for them.
Junior Kroupi can add new dimension to Man United attack
Junior Kroupi has been an absolute revelation since making his mark.
Traditionally, Man United love a pacy, versatile forward with a bit of flair, and the 19-year-old Frenchman fits that profile.
Capable of playing across the front line or dropping slightly deeper to link up play, Kroupi brings a level of youthful fearlessness that United’s attack often desperately needs when they look flat.
With the INEOS regime clearly keen on building a squad for the future, snapping up one of the Premier League’s most exciting teenagers makes perfect sense. He’s raw, sure, but his ceiling is sky-high.
Finding balance in the heart of defense has been a massive headache at Old Trafford, especially when injuries strike.
Senesi isn’t just a physical, no-nonsense defender who loves a crunching tackle, he is also brilliantly composed on the ball and capable of launching attacks from deep.
This reported interest tells us a lot about the current direction of Man United’s board.
Instead of solely chasing £100 million “galacticos” who might struggle to adapt to the English game, they are actively looking at players already thriving in the Premier League system.
Arsenal are intensifying their efforts to secure the signing of Julián Álvarez, with the Atlético Madrid striker emerging as one of the club’s primary targets ahead of the summer transfer window.
The North London side are understood to be acting swiftly to position themselves ahead of rival suitors, particularly Paris Saint-Germain, who have maintained a long-standing interest in the Argentine forward.

The Gunners’ strategy appears focused on establishing a strong relationship with the player and his representatives before entering formal negotiations with Atlético Madrid, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.
By doing so, Arsenal hope to strengthen their leverage when discussions with the Spanish club begin. However, Atlético’s firm stance suggests that prising away one of their key attackers will not be straightforward.
Atlético Madrid hold firm despite growing interest
Atlético Madrid have publicly maintained that Álvarez is not available for transfer, with senior figures at the club repeatedly emphasising his importance to their long-term plans.
Since joining the Spanish side, the Argentine international has developed into a central figure in their attacking system.
Despite this strong public position, reports from Spanish and European media indicate that the club may reconsider if presented with an exceptional financial offer.
Atlético are believed to value Álvarez at approximately €120 million, a figure designed to deter interest while reflecting the player’s rising status.
The club could consider moving on one of their current forwards, such as Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz, to create space within the wage structure and free up funds for a major signing.
Although Arsenal appear to be taking decisive steps, they are far from alone in their pursuit.
Paris Saint-Germain have tracked Álvarez for an extended period and could re-enter negotiations if their attacking lineup undergoes changes.
Chelsea are another club monitoring the situation closely. Reports indicate that their level of involvement may depend on outgoing transfers, particularly if they manage to sell players such as Nicolas Jackson or Liam Delap. Should funds become available, Chelsea could mount a serious challenge.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have maintained communication with Álvarez’s representatives and are expected to explore their options following the conclusion of their Champions League commitments.
Nico Schlotterbeck has been heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
However, the German international has committed to the club by signing an extension. According to Florian Plettenberg, the player has a release clause of €50-60 million in his new deal, and it will be available to trigger for a few clubs.

Schlotterbeck has been outstanding in the Bundesliga, and he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League as well. Liverpool is trying to agree on a new contract with Ibrahima Konate, but they have not succeeded yet. If they failed to convince the French international to sign a new deal, it would be ideal for them to bring in the German as his replacement.
Real Madrid were on the player as well, but they are yet to come forward with an official approach. The defender will certainly want to compete at the highest level and move to the Premier League, and La Liga could be exciting for him. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.
Schlotterbeck is at the peak of his career, and this is the right time for him to take on a new challenge. He will want to play for the biggest clubs in the world and regularly fight for major trophies.
Liverpool have crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield against PSG in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
After losing the first leg 2-0 away from home, they were hoping to overturn the deficit at home, but the defending European champions have managed to get the job done at Anfield, and they will head to the semifinals of the competition with a comprehensive result over the two legs.

Liverpool lacking quality in the attack
While there is no doubt that Liverpool put on a strong performance against PSG tonight, they were simply missing the cutting edge in the final third. Despite putting the away side under tremendous pressure for most of the game, they failed to create too many opportunities and get on the score sheet.
Former Premier League star Alan Shearer has revealed that the extra bit of quality and brilliance on the edge of the box separates the two teams.
Despite struggling for most of the game, PSG opened the scoring in the second half through Ousmane Dembele, who found the back of the net with an effort from outside the box.
Shearer told the BBC: “That is exactly what Liverpool have been missing tonight and for large parts of this season; that bit of quality and brilliance, on the edge of the box. The way he shifts it is magnificent forward play from Ousmane Dembele. A wonderful finish.”
Dembele doubled the advantage for his team late in the game to secure a 2-0 victory in the second leg. They will now face Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals.
As for Liverpool, they will look to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. Hugo Ekitike picked up what looks like a season-ending injury earlier tonight, which will only make things harder for the team in the remaining games.
PSG are 2-0 up on aggregate against Liverpool after the first half in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
They picked up the convincing lead in the first leg at home, and they have done well to navigate the first half of the second leg, which is goalless so far. Liverpool had a glorious opportunity to cut down the deficit through Virgil van Dijk, but he was denied by an exceptional goal-line block from Marquinhos.

Hugo Ekitike picks up a serious injury
Liverpool decided to drop Mohamed Salah to the bench at the start of the game and opted to start with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. However, the French international picked up a serious injury in the first half, and he had to be stretchered off.

While the true extent of the damage is yet to be determined, it does seem like Ekitike has picked up a serious blow, and his season could easily be over. With the World Cup coming up later this summer, there will be major question marks over his participation in the mega event as well.
Rumours suggest the Liverpool striker might have damaged his Achilles tendon, and he could be ruled out for 9 to 12 months.

With Isak just back from injury and Salah not at his best, the absence of their top scorer (17 goals) for the remainder of the season will be a huge blow for Liverpool. They have had a disappointing campaign so far, and they are fighting for Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur have had a disappointing season so far, and they are 18th in the Premier League table.
They are fighting the relegation battle, and multiple players from the London club have been linked with potential exits. According to reports from Spain, Mohammed Kudus is now a target for Manchester United and Chelsea.

Mohammed Kudus has done well at Spurs
The 25-year-old African joined Tottenham from West Ham United at the start of the season, and he was quite impressive for them before his injury blow. Manchester United and Chelsea are now looking to secure his signature in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can hold onto him. They must secure safety in the Premier League in order to keep quality players like him. The Ghana International will not want to compete in the second division of English football next season.
Kudus could prove to be a very handy option for Manchester United. They need more quality on the flanks, and the 25-year-old is capable of operating on either wing. He will add goals and creativity to the team. He is a reliable performer in the Premier League, and he could settle in quickly at Old Trafford and make an immediate impact.
Manchester United values his versatility and technical liability in the final third. It remains to be seen whether they come forward with an official proposal in the summer.
Similarly, Chelsea needs more quality on the flanks as well. They have invested in Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens at the start of the season. However, both players have been underwhelming. The Tottenham attacker could be a very useful option for them in the attack.
He can operate on either flank as well as centrally. He could transform both teams’ attacks.
Ruud Nijstad is already being linked with a move to the Premier League, and Chelsea are keen on signing him.
The 18-year-old defender has impressed with FC Twente, and the Blues are interested in securing his signature. It remains to be seen whether they decide to make a concrete move for him at the end of the season. Chelsea will face competition from Spanish champions Barcelona.

Chelsea keen on Ruud Nijstad
Journalist Geert-Jan Jakobs told Voetbal International: “If you believe the reports, the entire European elite is vying for him. Even before he had made his debut for FC Twente, the top Dutch clubs already wanted him.”
“No clubs have contacted FC Twente themselves, but I did hear through the grapevine that Chelsea is interested. And that FC Barcelona has been pursuing him for some time. The question is what he wants for himself. A good agent would say that he should stay at Twente longer. Get some experience there before you end up in the second team of a big club.”

Nijstad is a talented young defender with a bright future, and he needs to focus on his development for now. He will have plenty of chances to play for elite clubs in future. Sitting on the bench at a big club would be detrimental to his development. He should look to join a club that offers regular opportunities. If Chelsea can provide him with the necessary assurances, the move would make sense for him.
It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Meanwhile, the Dutch will not want to lose the player easily. He has a long-term contract with them, and they are under no pressure to sell Nijstad. Chelsea might have to make a lucrative proposal to convince them. It is no secret that they need more quality at the back, but they should invest in someone who can make an immediate impact. An experienced defender would be ideal for them.
Similarly, Barcelona will need more experience within the team. Nijstad could be a good investment for the future, and it remains to be seen what they decide.
Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi will be a free agent at the end of the season, and he is a target for Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report from talkSPORT, the Premier League clubs are keen on signing a 28-year-old on a bargain, and the player is hoping to sort out his future quickly.
There has been interest from clubs in Italy, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to come forward with an official proposal at the end of the season.

Man United eye Marcos Senesi move
Manchester United are looking to add more quality and depth to the defensive unit despite agreeing on a new deal with Harry Maguire. They need to build for the future, and the 28-year-old could be a handy option. The South American has shown his quality in the Premier League, and he is at the peak of his career. This is the right time for Senesi to take on a new challenge and move to Manchester United.
It would be a step up in his career, and he would get to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country. Manchester United are pushing for a top-three finish in the Premier League this season, and they are likely to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. That would make them an attractive destination for players.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also interested in the Argentine defender. However, they are fighting for survival in the Premier League, and the defender is not keen on dropping down to the second division. For the move to go through, Tottenham will need to secure Premier League safety.
Whoever ends up signing the 28-year-old on a free transfer could have a major bargain on their hands.
Noah Sadiki has impressed with Sunderland in the Premier League since joining the club, and top clubs are now monitoring his situation.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United have been tracking the player closely, and they could look to make a move for the 21-year-old in the summer.

Man United could use Noah Sadiki
They need a quality defensive midfielder, especially with Casemiro leaving the club in the summer. Manuel Ugarte has been quite underwhelming, and they need to replace them. The Sunderland midfielder could be the ideal acquisition for them. Joining one of the biggest clubs in the country will be exciting for Sadiki as well.
However, it will not be a straightforward transfer for Manchester United. Chelsea are keen on the player as well, and they are ramping up their efforts to sign the player. They have identified him as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez.
On the other hand, clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham are also monitoring him. It is clear that the 21-year-old could be a player in demand this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Sunderland is prepared to sanction his departure. They will not want to lose a key player like him. They have done well since promotion, and they are likely to stay up in the Premier League. They will want to establish themselves as regulars in the top flight. Selling their key players will not only weaken the team but also send the wrong message about the club’s ambitions.
Arsenal are looking to sign Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid at the end of the season.
According to reports from Spain, they are hoping to sign the 22-year-old as a replacement for Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian International has struggled for regular opportunities, and he is likely to leave the club in order to play more often.
They will need to replace him properly, and Garcia would be a superb addition. He is highly rated in La Liga, but he has struggled for regular opportunities at the Spanish club. It will be difficult for him to play every week at Real Madrid, and moving in the summer could be ideal.

Arsenal keen on Gonzalo Garcia
He has been linked with multiple clubs, but Arsenal are showing serious interest in signing him. The opportunity to join the north London outfit could be exciting for him. He could compete with Viktor Gyokeres for the starting spot next season.
Even though the Swedish international has scored 18 goals in all competitions, he has been inconsistent. Arsenal need a prolific goalscorer. Garcia has shown his potential at Real Madrid during his cameos, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. Arsenal could nurture him into a future star.

However, Real Madrid could demand a buy-back clause or a substantial sell-on fee in his contract if they decide to sell him. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. Arsenal needs more quality in the attack if they want to regularly fight for major trophies. Signing a talented young attacker like Garcia could be a wise move for them.

Mohamed Salah dropped for PSG game

Reds could have used Salah from the start
Liverpool need their best attackers on the pitch in order to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg. Salah was on the score sheet at the weekend against Fulham, and he did quite well in the game. They could have used his experience, creativity, and goal-scoring ability in the final third.
Apart from his quality as a player, his leadership, skills, and experience would have been invaluable for Liverpool.
Liverpool have had a disappointing season so far, and they are fifth in the Premier League table. They will be desperate to progress in the UEFA Champions League and to overturn the deficit against PSG, but without one of the best players in their history, it could prove difficult.
Slot has faced tremendous criticism this season for his team selections and tactics. If Liverpool crashes out of the UEFA Champions League with Salah on the bench, this decision could worsen his relationship with the fans.
Ibrahima Konate has been linked with the move away from Liverpool at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old defender will be a free agent in the summer, and Liverpool has yet to agree on a new deal with him. However, a report from RMC Sport claims that Liverpool is now closing on an agreement with the defender. The talks between the two parties are progressing well, and only a few details remain. The player could sign a five-year contract with Liverpool.

Liverpool need to keep Ibrahima Konate
The defender has established himself as a key player for Liverpool since joining them for a fee of €40 million, and they simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality and experience for free.
Konate has been linked with clubs like Real Madrid in recent months, but it seems that the Spanish giants have cooled their interest.
Meanwhile, the defender will be looking to sort out his long-term future quickly and focus on his football. He has been quite inconsistent this season, and he has faced his fair share of criticism as well. However, he is very much at the peak of his career, and there is no reason why he cannot discover his peak form once again.
It remains to be seen whether the two parties can wrap up the agreement quickly. Meanwhile, Liverpool will look to finish the season strongly and secure Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign.
Bazoumana Toure has been linked with a move away from Hoffenheim at the end of the season, and Liverpool is keen on him.
According to Sky Germany, Liverpool have become the first Premier League club to express interest in the 20-year-old, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done. The German club will not sanction his departure unless they receive a club record offer.

Hoffenheim want a club-record fee for Bazoumana Toure
They received €43.5 million from the departure of Joelinton to Newcastle United, and they will be holding out for more than that in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool is prepared to pay.
Sporting director Andreas Schicker confirmed toSky Sport last Friday: “Bazou has developed very well. We brought him in from Sweden a year and a half ago. You can see week after week what qualities he brings. With him, it’s like this: if there’s interest – which you can tell because he delivers week after week – then it has to be in a league that Hoffenheim hasn’t seen before.”

Liverpool have the financial muscle to be a premium for him, and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to break the Bank in the summer. They need to improve multiple areas of the squad. It has been a disappointing season for them, and they are currently fifth in the league table. They were expected to defend their league title after spending nearly half a billion on new signings at the start of the season.
He will add pace, flair and technical ability in the final third for Manchester United. They are pushing for a top-three finish in the Premier League, and they will be hoping to fight for trophies next year. They need to keep improving the team in order to compete with elite clubs in the UEFA Champions League next season. Adding more creativity in the final third would be a wise decision.
The report claims that the player could cost around £40 million. It seems reasonable for a player of his potential, and Manchester United should be able to afford him. The 24-year-old has the attributes to justify the outlay in the near future.
Pete O’Rourke explained: “I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs who’ll be keeping tabs on Akliouche this summer.
“He’s under contract at Monaco until 2029, so they would demand a decent fee for him, probably around £40m plus.”
The opportunity to move to Manchester United could be exciting for him. It would be the ideal next step for him, and he would get to prove himself at a higher level. Manchester United have done well to groom young players in the past, and they could play a key role in the development of the International. Regular football in England could help him improve further and establish himself as a key player for club and country.

As the first major statement signing of the new ownership era back in 2022, Trippier’s impact on the club’s culture cannot be overstated.
Howe didn’t hold back his praise this week, labeling the defender a “model of consistency” and cementing his status as one of the best players he has ever managed.
Kieran Trippier among players leave the club
While the split is reportedly a mutual agreement, replacing Trippier’s on-pitch quality and dressing-room leadership will be a monumental task.
Fellow defensive pillar Fabian Schär is currently sweating over his own future at the club, as per Shields Gazette.
The 34-year-old center-back desperately wants to stick around for another two or three years and finish his career in black and white.
However, a brutal string of recent injuries has seriously complicated his contract negotiations.
Having barely featured since January due to an ankle issue, Schär recently suffered a fresh setback, a foot infection requiring surgery that will sideline him for another month.
With his contract winding down, the Swiss international is running out of time to prove he can still physically withstand the demands of Howe’s high-intensity system.
Trippier isn’t the only casualty of this financial reality check, fellow defender Emil Krafth and loanee goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale are also widely expected to be shown the door to make room for younger, high-upside talent.
Howe and the board know that standing still in the Premier League is something they cannot afford.
It’s going to be a bittersweet summer on Tyneside, but it’s a necessary evolution if the Magpies want to maintain their push for consistent European football.
According to SportsBoom, the Wrexham are currently leading the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Wrexham haven’t been shy about splashing the cash during their meteoric rise up the English football pyramid, and as they evaluate their options for next season, the former Tottenham playmaker has reportedly shot right to the top of their wishlist.
To understand why Winks is suddenly on the market, you have to look at the absolute nightmare unfolding over at Leicester City.
The Foxes are enduring a calamitous campaign that could shockingly see them relegated to League One amidst some serious financial struggles.
Harry Winks is struggling at Leicester City
Winks, who joined Leicester in a high-profile £10 million move from Spurs back in 2023, has found himself completely frozen out of the first-team picture in recent months.
Winks is reportedly sitting on a jaw-dropping £90,000-a-week contract, making him the highest earner in the entire Championship.
For a club staring down the barrel of back-to-back relegations and desperate to slash their wage bill, offloading Winks isn’t just a tactical choice, it’s an absolute financial necessity.
So, where does Wrexham fit into all of this? Phil Parkinson’s side has been chasing an unprecedented fourth straight promotion, but they’ve recently hit a speed bump, slipping slightly off the Championship play-off pace.
While the dream of reaching the Premier League isn’t completely dead just yet, the club’s hierarchy is smartly drawing up contingency plans.
If Wrexham end up staying in the Championship for another year, they clearly view Winks as the ultimate marquee signing to boss the center of the park.
Despite his recent lack of minutes at Leicester, the midfielder still has undeniable top-flight quality and international pedigree.
Plus, with Leicester desperate to recoup some of their original £10 million investment and get his massive salary off the books, Wrexham is one of the few clubs with the ambition and financial muscle to realistically pull off a deal of this magnitude.
Ruthless administrative decisions are being made behind the scenes at Elland Road.
Manager Daniel Farke and the club’s ownership group are carefully evaluating their returning loanees, preparing to trim excess fat from the wage bill.

Chief among those expected to head for the exit door is Austrian international Max Wöber.
Despite arriving just over three years ago for a significant £11 million fee, the 28-year-old central defender is now set to leave the West Yorkshire club on a free transfer, a quiet and unexpected end to a highly disappointing chapter, according to SportsBoom.
Max Wöber has been a disaster at Leeds United
Wöber was brought to Elland Road in January 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg during the tenure of Jesse Marsch.
At the time, he was tasked with shoring up a leaky defense to help stave off Premier League relegation.
Unfortunately, his time in England never truly took off. Following the club’s drop to the Championship months later, Wöber controversially utilised a loan clause to jump ship, spending the 2023/24 season with Borussia Mönchengladbach rather than aiding the rebuild.
While Leeds eventually fought their way back to the top flight under Farke, Wöber became the forgotten man.

Plagued by chronic injury issues, the Austrian has managed a grand total of just 78 minutes across a single appearance for the Bundesliga outfit all season.
Wöber officially remains under contract until the summer of 2027, sitting on a lucrative deal that heavily outweighs his nonexistent on-pitch contributions.
Consequently, widespread reports indicate that the Whites are actively prepared to sanction a free transfer or mutually terminate his contract simply to clear his salary off the books.
Farke has worked tirelessly to build a unified, high-performing squad, and there is simply no room in his tactical system for a costly outcast who has continually struggled for form and fitness.
According to Football Insider, 25-year-old German international midfielder Angelo Stiller has emerged as a premier target for Liverpool.
Stuttgart’s Stiller is widely expected to depart the club in the coming months, with the Reds keeping a very close eye on a potential £60m deal.

Following a transitional 2025/26 campaign under Arne Slot, Liverpool’s hierarchy is eager to permanently reinforce their engine room.
Stiller, who has spent the last few seasons brilliantly pulling the strings in Germany, is viewed as the ideal candidate to anchor the midfield at Anfield for years to come.
Angelo Stiller has impressed Liverpool this season
Stiller is a classically styled deep-lying playmaker, frequently likened to compatriot Toni Kroos for his exceptional ball distribution and tactical quality.
Operating predominantly as a specialised number six, the left-footed maestro dictates the tempo of the game.
Stiller routinely drops deep between the center-backs to orchestrate build-up play, beat the opposition’s press, and launch incisive forward passes.
For Slot’s system, he represents a tailor-made fit. His ability to blend positional discipline with flawless, high-volume passing would perfectly complement the more advanced roles of Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, granting Liverpool’s creative assets much greater freedom higher up the pitch.
The £60m price tag reflects not just his immense quality, but also his rock-solid contractual situation.
Stuttgart successfully tied the 25-year-old down to a long-term deal lasting until 2028 and crucially removed a tantalising release clause from his contract.
This shrewd business move ensures the German club holds all the leverage in any upcoming negotiations and will only sell if their premium valuation is met.
Furthermore, Liverpool are not the only European heavyweight monitoring his progress.
Anfield is bracing for an emotional changing of the guard this summer, and Andy Robertson has finally broken his silence on the realities of his impending departure.
After a legendary nine-year spell that saw him lift every major piece of silverware available, the 32-year-old Scotland captain confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Far from a bitter split, Robertson has revealed that his exit is the result of a mutual understanding rather than a rejected contract offer.
The veteran left-back admitted a sense of profound relief now that his future is public knowledge.
Robertson described an open, honest dialogue with Liverpool’s hierarchy regarding his desire for regular first-team football.
Andy Robertson is looking for more playing time
Having proven his enduring quality when called upon this season, the Scotsman remains steadfast in his belief that he can still perform at the highest level week in and week out.
“It means I don’t need to lie to everyone (about my future) so it’s a weight off my shoulders,” Robertson said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“It’s not like I’ve knocked back a contract or anything, there was no contract on the table. It was a conversation we all had. It was a conversation of ‘okay, this is what I want to do, I want to play and I believe I’ve still got the ability to play’. I think I have showed that this season.”
The reality of Robertson’s situation is heavily tied to Liverpool’s ongoing tactical evolution under manager Arne Slot.
The arrival and subsequent emergence of 22-year-old Milos Kerkez has seen Robertson relegated to a rotational role for the first time in nearly a decade.
While he has remained a model professional and a vital dressing-room leader, a backup role naturally does not suit a player of his competitive stature.
Bayern Munich have firmly set their sights on the Premier League, reportedly identifying Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon as a premier target to bolster their attacking ranks.
According to respected Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga champions are seriously considering a move for the 25-year-old England international.

While formal contact between the two clubs has yet to be established, concrete discussions have already taken place with Gordon’s representatives, who have been fully briefed on the Bavarian club’s intentions.
Bayern Munich are looking for attacking depth
The driving force behind Bayern’s interest is the pressing desire to provide high-quality cover and direct competition for Luis Díaz.
Since arriving in Germany from Liverpool last summer, the Colombian winger has been nothing short of sensational under manager Vincent Kompany.
Díaz has firmly locked down the left flank, registering an astonishing 23 goals and 18 assists across 41 appearances this season.
However, his immense workload, already clocking well over 3,300 minutes on the pitch, has highlighted a distinct lack of natural rotation options in the squad.
Bayern’s recruitment team views Gordon as the ideal candidate to step in and push Díaz for a starting berth.
The Newcastle star’s blistering pace, direct dribbling, and proven end product make him a tailor-made fit for Kompany’s playing style.
German giants face bidding war with Premier League clubs
Prying Gordon away from St. James’ Park, however, will be highly complex.
Newcastle United have publicly stated their desire to retain their talisman, who remains under a long-term contract until 2030 and serves as a crucial figure in Eddie Howe’s project.
Nevertheless, the harsh realities of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) may ultimately force the Magpies’ hand.
The German powerhouse is reportedly hoping to secure a deal in the region of £50 million (€60m).
The footballing world is bracing for what promises to be a monumental title decider between Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Gunners had the lead for most of the season and now it is being cut short by Man City.

Weighing in on the high-stakes encounter, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has offered a characteristically blunt and confident prediction, backing Pep Guardiola’s battle-tested squad to shatter Arsenal’s title dreams once again.
Having finished second for the last three seasons, Mikel Arteta is hoping to end his team’s league title drought.
On the other hand, Guardiola is ready to cement his place in Premier League history by winning his 7th Premier League title.
Paul Scholes backs Man City to beat Arsenal
Speaking ahead of the clash, Scholes made it abundantly clear where he believes the Premier League crown is heading.
Despite acknowledging Arsenal’s immense tactical growth and resilience, the former England midfielder pointed to City’s sheer “muscle memory” as the ultimate deciding factor.
Scholes argued that while Arsenal have the raw talent to go toe-to-toe with anyone, Man City’s squad is uniquely constructed to handle the psychological battle.
‘I just think Arsenal have gone, me,’ the former United midfielder told The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast
‘I just think all the momentum is with City. At some point, you have to beat your rivals. I’ve not seen them do it, they don’t win big games.’
While Arteta has undoubtedly instilled a more robust winning mentality within his ranks, the Etihad Stadium remains a formidable fortress where visiting teams rarely dictate terms.
Arsenal’s last victory against Man City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League came over a decade ago on January 18, 2015.
Under the management of Arsène Wenger, the Gunners secured a 2-0 win thanks to a penalty from Santi Cazorla and a second-half header from Olivier Giroud.
Arteta’s team have a point to prove and to control the Premier League title race, they must beat Man City at the Etihad.
According to iNews, the Magpies’ hierarchy is continuing to include Howe in all high-level discussions surrounding their impending squad overhaul, signaling a degree of trust even as the pressure mounts at St. James’ Park.

The Premier League side has struggled this season and their success from the last few seasons is a thing of the past now.
Howe’s side are currently 14th in the Premier League and far from achieving their target of qualifying for the Champions League.
Eddie Howe is facing question over Newcastle United future
For the first time since his transformative arrival, Howe’s position has come under genuine scrutiny.
Newcastle’s season has been marred by domestic inconsistency, leaving them languishing mid-table in the Premier League and still reeling from a humbling Champions League knockout exit at the hands of Barcelona.
Chief Executive David Hopkinson admitted the club was not looking to make a managerial change “at the moment”, a somewhat tepid endorsement that naturally fueled media speculation.
However, the decision to keep the 48-year-old at the helm of summer planning suggests the ownership is opting for vital continuity over knee-jerk reactions, relying on Howe’s established blueprint to navigate the upcoming market.
Magpies are looking for a major squad overhaul in the summer
The upcoming window promises to be one of the most consequential in the club’s recent history under PIF ownership.
Newcastle United want to keep Howe and use his experties in the transfer market.
A reliable goalkeeper, a dynamic right-back, a commanding central midfielder, and a potent new striker is on the agenda at St. James’ Park.
Furthermore, the Magpies are desperate to avoid a repeat of last summer’s disruptive transfer sagas, which culminated in Alexander Isak’s high-profile departure to Liverpool.
Players like Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are being linked with moves away from Newcastle United and Howe will be tasked with the responsibility to keep the squad together at the club.
Newcastle United’s hierarchy is already laying the vital groundwork for an ambitious summer transfer window.
Central to their recruitment strategy is a pressing need to strengthen their midfield department.
According to Football Insider, the Magpies have identified Manchester United’s combative midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, as their primary target to anchor the team ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The 25-year-old Uruguayan international has emerged as the coveted missing piece in Newcastle’s tactical puzzle.
Ugarte is known for his work-rate, his defensive quality and for bringing strength to the midfield.
However, amid Man United’s constantly evolving tactical setups and a heavily congested midfield squad, Ugarte’s role at Old Trafford has occasionally fluctuated.
Newcastle United are looking to rebuild their midfield
The Magpies have historically relied on the brilliance of Bruno Guimarães to dictate the tempo of their matches, but the Brazilian maestro is at his most devastating when granted the freedom to push higher up the pitch and orchestrate attacks.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:
“I think they (Newcastle) have had a long-term interest in Ugarte.
“They looked at him when he was at Sporting Lisbon, but the last couple of moves haven’t worked out for Ugarte. First of all at PSG, and now at Man United, he has been a bit underwhelming.
“He’s fallen out of favour this season under Michael Carrick. He’s started just seven games in the Premier League, so he’s struggled to have the desired impact that many expected.”
By deploying a disciplined, pure destroyer like Ugarte at the base of the midfield, Newcastle would effectively unchain Guimarães, relieving him of heavy defensive burdens.
Furthermore, Newcastle United’s interest could be linked to the uncertain future of Sandro Tonali, who is attracting interest from top Premier League clubs and could leave St. James’ Park in the summer.
With Ugarte not impressing at Old Trafford, signing him from the Red Devils may not be that difficult for Eddie Howe and his team.
According to reports from TEAMtalk earlier this week, representatives from both Liverpool and Manchester United were in attendance during Leipzig’s gritty 1-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
While the scouts were initially tasked with monitoring highly-rated winger Yan Diomande, it was the 27-year-old German left-back who ultimately stole the show.

Delivering a commanding, Man-of-the-Match performance, Raum’s display seemingly convinced the watching emissaries that he is ready for the intense rigors of the Premier League.
David Raum is a player at the peak of his powers
Raum has been nothing short of sensational during the 2025/26 campaign. As the driving force and captain of his side, he has consistently showcased why he is regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s elite full-backs.
Combining defensive tenacity with top-tier attacking output, Raum has already racked up three goals and six assists in league play this season.
Raum frequently ranks in the upper percentiles among European full-backs for chance creation and successful crosses, acting as a crucial creative hub for Leipzig from the flank.
His blend of top-level domestic experience, leadership qualities, and proven pedigree with the German national team makes him an undeniable asset for any title-contending squad.
At Anfield, an era is slowly drawing to a close. With legendary left-back Andy Robertson in the final months of his contract and expected to depart at the end of the season, Liverpool are actively hunting for a proven successor.
The Reds need an experienced operator who can immediately fill the void left by the Scotsman while providing fierce, top-level competition.
Meanwhile, Man United’s left-back woes are well-documented. The Red Devils have long struggled to find a reliable, long-term solution to challenge the frequently unavailable Luke Shaw.
The recruitment team at Old Trafford sees Raum’s robust physical record and consistent availability as the perfect remedy for a position that has been a headache for several seasons.
This gives both Liverpool and Man United significant market leverage, Leipzig will likely be forced to entertain reasonable offers this summer rather than risk losing their captain on a free transfer next year.
Sporting captain Morten Hjulmand is quickly becoming one of the most closely monitored midfielders ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The Danish international has established himself as a commanding presence at the heart of Sporting’s midfield, earning recognition across Europe.

At 26 years old, Hjulmand is widely regarded as one of the most complete ‘Number 6’ currently performing at a high level, combining physical strength with the ability to control tempo and launch attacks from deep positions.
Man United and Liverpool show interested in the midfielder
Interest in Hjulmand has been strongest from England, where several clubs are actively searching for midfield reinforcements, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.
United’s recruitment team is believed to value Hjulmand’s ability to combine defensive solidity with controlled distribution, qualities essential for modern midfield anchors.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a strong interest in the Danish international. Spurs are said to view him as a potential cornerstone in their midfield system, capable of providing balance between defensive structure and forward progression.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are thought to admire his versatility and endurance, particularly as they continue refining their midfield following several recent changes.
While financial details often dominate transfer discussions, sources close to the situation suggest that Hjulmand’s priorities extend beyond salary figures.
Clubs interested in signing him will likely need to demonstrate not only financial capability but also a clear vision for competing at the highest level.
Despite Sporting’s strong stance, the club operates within a model that historically involves developing talent before selling at peak market value.
Hjulmand’s contract reportedly runs until 2028 and includes a release clause set at €80 million, a figure designed to protect the club from losing him at below-market value.
Both Man United and Liverpool are leading the race to sign him and both of them can offer him a promising project with a similar wage package.
The player’s decision in the summer could shape his career for years to come.
Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte has had his fair share of criticism since joining the club.
The 25-year-old Uruguayan International was handed a start against Leeds United in the Premier League today, but he failed to make his mark once again. The South American has simply failed to adapt to the Premier League, and he put in another disappointing display for Manchester United tonight.

Manuel Ugarte struggled against Leeds
Ugarte failed to provide the physicality and defensive cover in midfield for Manchester United, and the Red Devils struggled to control the game’s tempo.
Manchester United were eventually beaten 2-1 at home by Leeds United, and journalist Samuel Luckhurst has now highlighted a worrying statistic. The journalist revealed that Manchester United have now won just one of their last 10 matches Ugarte has started for the club.
A first league win at Old Trafford for Leeds since 1981. #mufc‘s run-in looked like it might have had no jeopardy but it does now. First half performance one of their worst 45 minutes of the season. Now one win and six defeats from ten with Ugarte starting.
It is no secret that Manchester United need more quality in the middle of the park, but replacing Ugarte will be an absolute priority for them in the summer. He has not been able to justify the €50 million move to the club, and it would be ideal for him to move on in the summer. It is clear that he has not lived up to expectations at Manchester United, and he’s not enjoying his football there. He has been criticised heavily, and the player needs a fresh start.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can find a suitable destination for the player in the summer. They should look to cash in on him and bring in a quality replacement. They need to bring in someone who can control the tempo of the game from the deep and recycle possession. They will also need to replace Casemiro, who will leave the club in the summer.
Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in signing the South Korean international striker Hyeon-Gyu Oh.
The player has impressed since the move to Besiktas during the January transfer window. He joined the club for a fee of €14 million, and he has produced six goals and two assists in nine matches since joining the club. Naturally, top clubs are keeping tabs on his progress, as per TurkiyeGazetesi.

Man United and Spurs want Hyeon-Gyu Oh
Manchester United and Tottenham are reportedly interested in the player. It remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in the summer. Manchester United need more depth in the attacking unit. Benjamin Sesko has had a mixed debut campaign with the Premier League club, and they need more competition in the attack. The South Korean will certainly be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League. It would be a huge step up for him, and he would get to play for some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are keeping tabs on his progress as well. Dominic Solanke has not been able to find the back of the net consistently, and they need more options. It remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
The South Korean could be attracted to the idea of joining the London club, especially if they manage to stay up in the Premier League. Tottenham has a considerable fan base in South Korea thanks to Son Heung-min. It will be interesting to see if they can sign the Besiktas striker in the summer.
The Turkish outfit could look to make a substantial profit on the player if they are forced to cash him in at the end of the season.

At Chelsea, he could be an upgrade on players like Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens. Chelsea needs someone who can drive the team forward and help create opportunities in the final third. The Ivorian has the physicality and technical attributes to succeed in English football, and he could be a quality long-term investment for both clubs.

Arsenal ready to let Cristhian Mosquera head out on loan
According to Sports Boom, the Arsenal management is looking for the right destination where the young defender can continue his development with regular opportunities. Everton is interested in securing his signature, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Meanwhile, they would not be against selling the player permanently either. However, they will demand around €50 million in order to sell the player. It remains to be seen how the situation develops. The player is highly rated at the north London club, and Mikel Arteta believes that he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Gabriel Magalhaes.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite exciting for Oulai. Chelsea and Tottenham are big clubs, and they could provide him with the platform to fight for trophies in the near future. The 20-year-old will look to prove himself at the highest level if the move goes through. Meanwhile, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea need more creativity and control in the middle of the park, and the 19-year-old could be a long-term investment for them. They have done well to groom young players in the past, and they could play a key role in his development.
The opportunity to join some of the biggest clubs in the country could be exciting for the youngster as well. However, he should focus on his development and look to play regularly. Joining a big club only to sit on the sidelines as a squad player would be detrimental to his growth.
The 19-year-old has three goals and four assists to his name in all competitions this season. He has already played over 1200 minutes of Premier League football with Newcastle, and he has impressed in the top flight. There is no doubt that he will continue to improve and develop into a key player for the club.

They believe that they can promise him regular first-team football, which could convince the player to stay.
Monga needs to focus on his development for now. Joining a Premier League club to sit on the bench would be detrimental to his development. He needs regular opportunities at this stage of his career. Tottenham Hotspur are fighting for survival in the Premier League, and they have been dealt a major injury blow.
Cristian Romero picked up an injury against Sunderland, and he is out for the remainder of the season. Journalist Gaston Edul has confirmed that the player will not require surgery, but he will be sidelined for up to 6 weeks.
Edul wrote on X: “Cuti Romero does not have a torn collateral ligament but does have an injury. He does not need surgery but does need recovery. At least six weeks. They are going to keep evaluating his progress. He will not play anymore for Tottenham in this season.”
It will be interesting to see if the 27-year-old can return in time for the World Cup. Romero has been a key player for club and country. He will be desperate to get back to action quickly.
Meanwhile, his absence will be a hammer blow for the North London club. They have been quite poor defensively, and being without their best defender and captain will make matters worse.
They are currently 18th in the league table, and it remains to be seen whether they can turn things around in the remaining matches of the season. Nobody would have expected them to be in this position at the start of the season, but they are fighting for survival in the top now.
Losing a player will complicate their fight for survival, but they have quality players at their disposal, and they have brought in a new manager. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Tottenham is currently 18th in the Premier League table and has let in 51 goals in 32 league matches. They will need to improve defensively if they want to compete in the top-flight next season.

One of the players on Liverpool’s radar is Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, however, Football Insider has claimed that a deal to sign the French is highly unlikely for the Premier League giants.
He scores goals, he creates goals, he has pace and dribbling quality and he has the potential to become even better in the future.
Much like Salah, Olise is a dynamic, left-footed attacker who thrives when cutting inside from the right flank to orchestrate play, thread through-balls, and deliver devastating finishes.
Since departing Crystal Palace for Bavaria in the summer of 2024, Olise has elevated his game to a truly world-class level.
He has effortlessly adapted to the immense pressure of playing for a European superpower, becoming a creative focal point in Bayern’s attacking machinery and establishing himself as a regular fixture in the French national team.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider:
“Obviously, he would be the dream signing to replace Mohamed Salah when he leaves at the end of the season.
“He’s somebody they are still keen on because of the quality he has at his disposal.
“But it’s near impossible that Liverpool could lure Michael Olise away from Bayern Munich. He’s under contract until 2029 and playing some outstanding football.
“It was a world-class performance against Real Madrid in midweek.
“For Liverpool, it’s a bit of a pipe dream for them to sign Michael Olise due to Bayern’s unwillingness to sell him.”
Olise is tied down to a lucrative, long-term contract at the Allianz Arena, giving the German giants ultimate leverage in any potential negotiations, which makes it almost impossible for Liverpool to sign him this summer.
Furthermore, Bayern’s own ambitions to dominate both the Bundesliga and the Champions League mean they have zero incentive to empower a direct European rival by handing over one of their brightest stars.
While Liverpool’s recruitment team is entirely justified in aiming for the absolute top tier of the market, harsh economic realities will likely dictate their next steps.
Salah has to be replaced in the summer and with someone who can have a similar impact in terms of output but as per latest reports, that replacement is not going to be Olise.
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva could be preparing for a major career transition as his contract approaches its expiration at the end of the current season.
According to reports from transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, several prominent clubs have already entered the race to secure the Portugal international’s signature, with Barcelona, Juventus, Galatasaray, Benfica, and teams from the Saudi Pro League all expressing interest.

At 31 years old, Silva remains one of Europe’s most technically gifted midfielders, and the prospect of him becoming available has sparked widespread attention across multiple leagues.
After years of consistent success at Man City, the midfielder’s potential departure could mark the end of an era, not only for the player but also for a City side that has relied heavily on his creativity and work rate.
Silva has been a key figure for Man City
Silva has been an integral part of Manchester City’s success since joining from AS Monaco in 2017.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, he has played a crucial role in the club’s dominance of English football, contributing to multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups, and European triumphs under Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola has frequently praised Silva’s intelligence, stamina, and willingness to perform defensive duties, qualities that have made him indispensable.
Barcelona have long admired the midfielder, viewing him as a player capable of strengthening their midfield creativity and maintaining their possession-based style of play.
Financial constraints have previously limited Barcelona’s ability to pursue him, but his potential availability on a free transfer could make negotiations more realistic.
Juventus are also believed to be closely monitoring the situation as they continue rebuilding their squad. The Italian giants have prioritised experienced players capable of bringing leadership and composure to midfield, attributes Silva possesses in abundance.
Meanwhile, Benfica, Silva’s boyhood club, could emerge as a sentimental option. A return to Portugal would allow the midfielder to reconnect with familiar surroundings while continuing to compete in European competitions.
Galatasaray, known for attracting high-profile players in recent seasons, have also shown interest, showing the club’s ambition to strengthen its squad with experienced talent.
Bayern Munich may not be actively searching for a new central defender at present, but the Bundesliga champions are reportedly keeping a close eye on Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong as part of their long-term scouting strategy.
According to German journalist Christian Falk, the Bavarian club have been monitoring the 19-year-old’s development, viewing him as a player with significant future potential.

While Bayern’s defensive lineup currently appears settled, the situation could change depending on developments involving Kim Min-Jae, whose future remains a point of speculation heading into the summer transfer window.
For now, however, Bayern are maintaining a watchful stance rather than pursuing immediate negotiations.
Acheampong’s rise at Chelsea draws European attention
Acheampong has emerged as one of the most promising young defenders within Chelsea’s system.
Chelsea’s focus on developing young talent has given players like Acheampong valuable opportunities to grow within a competitive environment.
His technical qualities and decision-making under pressure suggest he could develop into a long-term asset for whichever club secures his services in the future.
Under manager Vincent Kompany, the club’s defensive unit has remained relatively stable, with experienced players providing depth and leadership across the back line.
However, the situation could shift if Kim Min-Jae’s circumstances change. Reports indicate that the South Korean defender is currently content with his role at Bayern and has not expressed a desire to leave.
Any potential departure would likely depend on the player initiating discussions about his future, rather than the club actively seeking to offload him.
For Bayern, maintaining depth in defense is essential, particularly given the demands of competing in multiple competitions, including domestic league fixtures and European tournaments.
A young defender with strong technical attributes and adaptability would fit seamlessly into a squad designed for sustained success.
Pep Guardiola’s ruthless side dispatched Chelsea 3-0, slicing Arsenal’s lead at the summit to just six points while still holding a crucial game in hand.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s men have hit a significant stumbling block, enduring a torrid run of form that includes a shock 2-1 home collapse against Bournemouth.

However, despite the shifting tides and mounting pressure, former England striker Michael Owen remains steadfast in his belief that Arsenal will finally end their two-decade league title drought.
Having been comfortable in the title race for most of the season, Arsenal are now showing signs of inexperience and the horror of the last few seasons are starting to come into their thoughts again.
Owen still believes they have enough to go over the line and win their first Premier League title in a long time.
Owen feels Man City have tougher fixtures than Arsenal
Owen highlighted City’s remaining away fixtures against resilient, tactically stubborn opposition, specifically noting trips to Everton and Bournemouth.
“I think Manchester City have got the slightly more difficult games. They’ve got Bournemouth away, they’ve got Everton away.
“They are two tough games. However, when you look at this weekend we thought Arsenal at home to Bournemouth and City away at Chelsea.
“Everything is pointing to City, the momentum, the record of Pep Guardiola, the experience of the players, the current form, City at home against Arsenal.
“It’s the toss of the coin but I think Arsenal might just nick it.”
While current form, managerial experience, and home advantage heavily favor Guardiola’s seasoned winning machine ahead of this weekend’s clash, Owen boldly predicts that the Gunners “might just nick it” when the dust finally settles in May.
Having finished as runners-up in multiple recent campaigns, the narrative of Arsenal crumbling under immense pressure is a familiar, albeit exhausting, one for their fanbase.
For Arteta and his squad, the margin for error has officially vanished.
They travel to the Etihad next in the Premier League and there could be no bigger stage for them to prove their title credentials than at the home of their biggest title rivals.
Whether Arsenal can validate Owen’s faith, survive their current wobble, and shed their nearly-men tag once and for all remains to be seen.
Former England captain Wayne Rooney believes that Manchester City possess a crucial psychological advantage over Arsenal in the ongoing Premier League title race, showing the importance of experience and mentality during the final stretch of the season.
Speaking in analysis on BBC’s The Wayne Rooney Show, he suggested that City’s familiarity with high-pressure run-ins could ultimately prove decisive as the title battle intensifies.

With both teams pushing for top honours, the contest is shaping up to be one of the most closely fought races in recent years.
While Arsenal have shown remarkable consistency under Mikel Arteta, Man City’s history of winning league titles under Pep Guardiola gives them a level of confidence that few teams can match.
Rooney claims Arsenal will be under severe pressure
According to Rooney, Manchester City’s squad, orchestrated by the masterful Guardiola, possesses a crucial psychological advantage.
Rooney pointed out that this experience often gives City players a belief that they can handle the intense scrutiny and expectations that accompany a title push.
“I think City will have the edge on that, just purely the manager and players they’ve got. They will be able to stay a little calmer than the Arsenal players,” Rooney said on the BBC’s The Wayne Rooney Show.
“They will be worried because when you go on a run and lose a few games, you start thinking ‘where’s the next goal, the next win going to come from?’ That negative mindset really has an impact on your performance.”
Premier League title race has become a psychological battle
Arsenal’s unexpected 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth exposed a rare vulnerability, while Man City simultaneously flexed their muscles with a ruthless 3-0 dismantling of Chelsea.
Mathematically, the Gunners still have an advantage but Guardiola’s team will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next week and that crucial match could decide the Premier League title race.
A few weeks ago, the Gunners looked certain to win the league and end their long term league title drough, however, the Premier League remains the most unpredictable league in the world and Guardiola’s team have made a late, impressive run to come back into contention.
It could go either way but the experience and the form of Guardiola’s team gives them edge in the title race.
Even though Manchester United’s ongoing rebuild has largely focused on immediate, first-team-ready additions, the Old Trafford hierarchy has not lost sight of securing the next generation of elite talent.

Monga’s ascent through the youth ranks has been nothing short of meteoric.
The dynamic winger first captured national headlines when he debuted in the Premier League at just 15 years and 271 days old.
Possessing lightning-quick feet, exceptional balance, and decision-making that belies his age, the England Under-19 international has continued his rapid development in the Championship this season.
Man United enter race to sign Leicester City winger
Man United are far from the only heavyweights at the negotiating table.
Furthermore, the allure of European giants cannot be discounted, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund are all reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
A move abroad could prove particularly tempting for those overseas clubs, as it would require minimal compensation under current compensation regulations compared to an internal English transfer.

Monga is known for his pace and dribbling quality in the wide attacking positions.
He is still raw but he has the potential to become a world beater in the future. That is why top clubs across Europe are trying to compete for his signature.
Monga primarily operates as a left winger, though he is highly versatile and capable of playing on the right or as a left midfielder.
He possesses immense close control and agility, allowing him to navigate tight spaces and take on defenders in 1v1 situations with ease.
His excellent center of gravity allows him to stay on his feet under physical pressure from older, more established Championship defenders.
Youth football expert Jacek Kulig has described Monga as an “unpredictable” player.
Despite overseeing a dramatic cultural and tactical transformation at the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s position as Arsenal manager is reportedly under unprecedented threat.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, as reported by GOAL, the Arsenal hierarchy may finally lose patience if Arteta concludes a seventh season in North London without delivering either the Premier League or the Champions League.
Arsenal are struggling under pressure from Man City
Heading into the weekend, the Gunners boasted a comfortable nine-point cushion at the summit of the Premier League.
However, their unexpected capitulation against Bournemouth, coupled with Manchester City’s emphatic 3-0 demolition of Chelsea, has blown the title race wide open.
Pep Guardiola’s side now breathe down Arsenal’s necks, holding a crucial game in hand ahead of a monumental title decider at the Etihad Stadium.
A 2-0 defeat in the EFL Cup final and a surprise FA Cup elimination at the hands of Southampton mean all remaining eggs are firmly in the league and European baskets.
Should the unthinkable happen and Arsenal finish the campaign empty-handed, the board has reportedly lined up a sensational replacement.
Former club captain Cesc Fàbregas is viewed as the ideal successor.
Fàbregas has been earning rave reviews for his tactical acumen at Como 1907, implementing an attractive, progressive brand of football that has kept the Italian outfit highly competitive and in the hunt for European qualification.
Arteta remains a beloved figure who restored Arsenal’s identity and returned them to the Champions League elite, recently guiding them to a vital away win against Sporting CP in the quarter-finals. However, the goodwill of a rebuild can only last so long.
Manchester United are reportedly growing increasingly confident that Bruno Fernandes will remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer, despite continued speculation linking the Portuguese midfielder with a lucrative move abroad.

With his contract entering its final stages in the coming year, discussions over his future are expected to take place at the end of the season.
Saudi Pro League interest remains in Bruno Fernandes
Interest from the Saudi Pro League has been ongoing for more than a year, with several reports linking Fernandes to potential offers from clubs eager to attract elite European talent.
The league’s financial strength has allowed it to secure high-profile signings in recent seasons, making players of Fernandes’ calibre natural targets.
At 31 years old, he is still performing at an elite standard, and have frequently highlighted his desire to continue playing in major competitions rather than prioritising financial moves at this stage of his career.
Champions League qualification hold key for Man United
One of the most influential factors in determining Fernandes’ future appears to be Man United’s success in securing Champions League football.
Competing in Europe’s premier competition remains a priority for many top players, and Fernandes is widely regarded as someone who thrives in high-pressure matches.
ualification for the Champions League would strengthen the club’s position during contract discussions, reinforcing the argument that United remain a platform capable of delivering success at the highest level.
With Michael Carrick’s team comfortably sitting in 3rd position in the league, Champions League qualification for next season is looking highly likely.
Although Fernandes has previously expressed an interest in experiencing football in other leagues before the end of his career, his recent comments suggest a strong emotional attachment to Man United.
In interviews, he has described feeling “at home” in Manchester, a statement that shows his deep connection with both the club and its supporters.
Manchester United’s summer transfer plans are already taking shape, with Morgan Rogers reportedly emerging as a key target following strong backing from interim manager Michael Carrick.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Carrick has personally recommended the Aston Villa forward to United’s director of football Jason Wilcox, showing the 23-year-old’s rapid development and long-term potential.

Carrick, who stepped into the managerial role earlier this year after Ruben Amorim’s departure, has impressed during his time in charge and is believed to be among the candidates being considered for the permanent position.
Carrick wants versatile Aston Villa star at Man United
One of the key reasons behind Carrick’s enthusiasm for Morgan Rogers stems from their previous working relationship at Middlesbrough.
During Rogers’ loan spell at the Championship club, Carrick witnessed firsthand the young forward’s development and adaptability.
That familiarity has reportedly given Carrick confidence that Rogers possesses the mentality and technical ability required to succeed at a club with the demands of Man United.
Rogers’ time at Middlesbrough marked a turning point in his career, as he demonstrated maturity and creativity in attacking roles.
Since moving to Aston Villa, he has continued to evolve into a versatile forward capable of operating across multiple positions, whether on the wing, in attacking midfield, or supporting a central striker.
Red Devils are looking for attacking reinforcements
Over recent seasons, inconsistency in wide areas has been a recurring issue, prompting discussions about introducing younger, more dynamic players capable of sustaining performance levels across multiple competitions.
Rogers fits that profile, offering tactical flexibility that could allow United to adapt formations depending on match requirements. His ability to carry the ball forward and create chances under pressure makes him particularly valuable asset.
Reports suggest Villa would demand a club-record transfer fee to even consider selling Rogers.
This financial barrier could prove decisive in determining whether Man United proceed with a formal bid or explore alternative targets.
Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for Sandro Tonali this summer but only under strict conditions that reflect the midfielder’s importance to the club.
According to The i Paper, the Magpies have made it clear that any club interested in signing the Italian international must declare their intentions early in the transfer window and be prepared to meet a substantial valuation of around £100 million.

Tonali remains one of Newcastle’s most valuable assets, both in terms of technical ability and long-term potential.
While speculation continues to link him with several top clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United, Newcastle appear determined to maintain control of the situation and avoid prolonged uncertainty over one of their key players.
Tonali is considered a pillar of Newcastle United squad
Tonali has been widely viewed as a cornerstone of Newcastle’s midfield evolution at St. James’ Park.
His ability to control tempo and dictate play has made him a valuable figure in Newcastle’s long-term ambitions to compete regularly at the highest level.
Tonali’s arrival was initially seen as a statement signing, signaling Newcastle’s intent to transition from ambitious challengers to established contenders.
His performances have demonstrated the qualities that made him one of Serie A’s most highly regarded midfielders prior to his move to England.
It is hardly a surprise to see top Premier League clubs show interest in signing him considering his consistent performances.
Despite these links, Newcastle’s strategy appears designed to discourage drawn-out negotiations.
By setting a firm price point and requiring early declarations of interest, the club aims to avoid prolonged speculation that could disrupt preparations for the new season.
Newcastle United’s promising left-back Lewis Hall is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Despite widespread interest, Newcastle’s leadership has made it clear that Hall remains a vital part of their long-term vision, and they have no intention of letting him leave easily.
Clubs across the Premier League and Europe, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, are all believed to have tracked Hall’s progress.
However, Newcastle’s firm stance, backed by a strong contract situation, means any potential move would require an extraordinary offer.
Interest from within England remains equally strong. Chelsea, Hall’s former club, have reportedly continued to track his development, while Arsenal and Man City are said to be impressed by his rapid improvement and technical ability.

Both clubs prioritise full-backs who can contribute to possession-based systems, making Hall a natural fit for their tactical styles.
With Luke Shaw approaching the later stages of his career and injury concerns affecting squad stability in recent seasons, United are reportedly evaluating younger alternatives.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are thought to have monitored Hall through their scouting network, particularly as the club continues reviewing defensive depth and planning for future transitions.
Newcastle’s strong position gives them control of the situation
From a financial perspective, Newcastle United hold a commanding position in negotiations.
Hall’s contract reportedly runs until 2029, and crucially, there is no release clause, giving the club full control over his future.
Any potential talks would begin at a figure in the region of £50-55 million, though Newcastle would likely demand significantly more if multiple clubs entered a bidding contest.
Despite ongoing interest, Newcastle’s strategy appears focused on retaining key players while making adjustments elsewhere in the squad.
Sources indicate that the club may look to generate funds through alternative player sales rather than sacrificing one of their most promising young talents.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has provided a massive boost to the Old Trafford faithful by confirming the club is nearing a breakthrough in contract negotiations with “phenomenal” midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The 20-year-old sensation, who has become the undisputed heartbeat of the United engine room, is expected to sign a lucrative long-term extension that will cement his status as the cornerstone of the club’s future.

Carrick says new Kobbie Mainoo deal now ‘closer’
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Monday morning, Carrick addressed the growing speculation surrounding the England international’s future.
With several of Europe’s elite reportedly monitoring the situation, the United boss was keen to project a sense of stability and confidence regarding the ongoing talks.
Carrick said (as quoted by Fabrizio Romano):
“It’s getting CLOSER, so you know we’re positive with that.
“We’re calm with it, but we’re positive with it, and time will tell how it goes, but at the moment we’re in a good place with that.”

The new agreement is expected to significantly increase Mainoo’s salary, reflecting his meteoric rise over the last twelve months and his importance to the tactical system Carrick has implemented since taking the reins.

While Mainoo’s talent has never been in doubt, his trajectory under Carrick’s direct mentorship has been extraordinary.

Manchester City’s 3-0 demolition of Chelsea was highlighted by a moment of individual brilliance that has already been seen as one of the assist of the season.
Rayan Cherki, the French playmaker who has taken the Premier League by storm since his arrival at the Etihad, provided a breathtaking piece of skill to set up defender Marc Guehi for City’s second goal of the afternoon.

The goal came in the 57th minute when Cherki took a short corner passing it to Doku and the continued his run towards the edge of the box.
Receiving the ball back, he glided past couple of Chelsea players with ease including Caicedo before executing a stunning through pass for Guehi, who finished with the composure of a veteran striker.
While the official broadcast angles captured the scale of the run, it was the fan footage from the Etihad stands that truly set social media alight. Clips filmed by supporters show the sheer skill of Cherki.
From the stands, the vision required to spot Guehi’s run, who had stayed up following a corner, looks even more impossible.
Rayan Cherki has been a fantastic signing for Man City
Since his £45 million move from Lyon, Cherki has been a revelation for Pep Guardiola.
Tasked with filling the creative void left by aging stars, the 22-year-old has adapted to the physical demands of English football with surprising ease.
With this latest contribution, Cherki has now recorded 14 goal involvements in his debut season.

Man City close gap on Arsenal in Premier League title race
The victory sees Manchester City move to within six points of Arsenal in the Premier League table, with a crucial game in hand still to play.
Pep Guardiola’s side are also yet to host Arsenal at the Etihad, a fixture that could prove decisive in the title race.
Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris has delivered a stinging assessment of Tottenham Hotspur following his side’s victory at the Stadium of Light, admitting he was “never worried” about the threat posed by the North London giants.
The result has further compounded the misery for Spurs, who saw their winless streak stretch to a staggering 14 matches in what was supposed to be a hopeful debut for new boss Roberto De Zerbi.
Despite the hype surrounding De Zerbi’s arrival, Sunderland appeared comfortable throughout the contest, exploiting a Tottenham side that looked devoid of confidence and tactical cohesion.

What Régis Le Bris said about Tottenham
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Le Bris was brutally honest about the ease with which his side handled the visitors.
While most managers offer diplomatic praise for their opponents, the Frenchman suggested that Spurs simply didn’t have the tools to hurt them.
“The opponent wasn’t strong enough to beat us. So, I wasn’t too worried,” Le Bris stated.
“We knew that if we remained disciplined and hit them on the break, the opportunities would come.
They have good individual players, but as a collective, they are struggling to find a rhythm. Today, we felt in control from the first whistle.”
Le Bris’s comments highlight a growing sentiment in the Premier League that Tottenham have become an easier side to beat for mid-table opposition.
"The opponent wasn't strong enough to beat us. So, I wasn't too worried."
Manchester City’s dominant 3-0 victory over Chelsea was more than just a statement on the pitch; it provided a platform for the Etihad faithful to launch a “brutal” and highly visual taunt toward their primary title rivals, Arsenal.
While Pep Guardiola’s side dismantled a struggling Chelsea outfit, a specific moment captured by the television cameras in the stands quickly became the talking point of the weekend.

Man City fans troll Arsenal during 3-0 win vs Chelsea
As the match drew to a close and City’s three points were secured, cameras panned to a jubilant supporter holding a water bottle prominently featuring the Arsenal club crest.
In a deliberate and mocking gesture, the fan mimicked drinking from the bottle while laughing toward the cameras, a clear nod to the growing “drinking Arsenal tears” meme circulating online.
The footage went viral across social media platforms within minutes. Rival fans interpreted the stunt as a direct jab at Arsenal’s perceived reputation as “bottlers”, a tag that has followed Mikel Arteta’s side since their late-season collapse in previous campaigns.
With City now moving within striking distance of the top spot, the psychological warfare in the stands is beginning to mirror the relentless pressure on the field.
But this wasn’t the end of trolling. City fans were also very direct as they started chanting “Are you watching Arsenal?” towards the end of the game.
While City fans may have started the trolling and celebrations a bit early, Pep Guardiola has the experience and the quality to turn this title race around from here, fully capitalising on Arsenal’s dip in form.
Arsenal at the risk of potentially bottling another Premier League title
The trolling comes at a particularly sensitive time for the Gunners. Despite leading the Premier League table for the majority of the 2025/26 season, the wheels have threatened to come off in recent weeks.

Arsenal have already been dumped out of the FA Cup and the League Cup, leaving the Premier League as their final hope for major silverware this year.
However, recent stumbles against lower-table opposition have allowed Manchester City to close the gap.
The narrative of “bottling” is once again haunting North London, as fans and pundits alike question whether Arteta’s squad possesses the mental fortitude to withstand City’s traditional end-of-season “win-streak” machine.
As the race enters the final seven fixtures, the pressure on Arsenal to avoid another historical collapse is immense.
For the City supporters, the message is clear: they believe the title is returning to Manchester, and they are enjoying every drop of the drama along the way.
A Manchester City fan has gone viral for drinking out of an Arsenal-branded bottle during today’s 3-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
With Arsenal suffering a surprise defeat at home to Bournemouth yesterday and Man City winning away to Chelsea today, everyone is sensing a familiar story coming in the final few games of the season.

Although the Gunners remain six points clear of City, they are in poor form at the moment and have a history of slipping up late on in title races.
Manchester City fans sense Arsenal are bottling it

City play Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next weekend in what will surely prove a hugely decisive moment in this title race, with Mikel Arteta and his players perhaps needing to take a look at this and let it motivate them to ram it back down their doubters’ throats.
It’s not easy to get over the line when you haven’t done it for such a long time, whereas this City team and their manager Pep Guardiola are serial winners.
Leeds United have reportedly been among the clubs to enquire about the situation of Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth ahead of the summer.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan from Brighton at Championship leaders Coventry City, and he’s done well there as Frank Lampard’s side close in on promotion to the Premier League.

It remains to be seen what this will mean for Rushworth’s future, with Coventry surely eager to keep him once they go up, but it seems Leeds have asked about a potential deal, according to TEAMtalk.
Leeds could do with a new goalkeeper, and Rushworth looks like a player with a big future at this level, though it could also depend on what happens with Brighton’s current number one Bart Verbruggen this summer.
Could Carl Rushworth get a chance at Brighton?
Rushworth has never actually played a single competitive minute for Brighton, and is now in his sixth loan spell away from the Seagulls.
However, Verbruggen’s future looks to be in some doubt after his impressive form, so it may be that manager Fabian Hurzeler soon needs to bring in a replacement.
Rushworth could be ideal, so perhaps there’ll finally be that role there for him once his loan with Coventry comes to an end this summer.

A recent report from talkSPORT claimed Tottenham were keen on Verbruggen, so that could be one to watch in the weeks and months ahead.
Still, if Brighton manage to keep hold of Verbruggen then that surely shuts out Rushworth again, and could potentially pave the way for Leeds or someone else to snap him up.

Meanwhile, it’s understood that Woltemade remains a player on Bayern’s list after they notably missed out on signing him last summer when he instead moved from Stuttgart to Newcastle.
The Germany international started brightly for the Magpies earlier this season, but his form has tailed off a bit, leading to growing talk that he could move back to the Bundesliga.
Bayern will likely be one of his main suitors, and it will be interesting to see if that could lead to a double raid on NUFC for Gordon as well.
Difficult summer ahead for Newcastle
It was a difficult summer for Newcastle last year as Alexander Isak left for Liverpool, and we’re seeing plenty of similar transfer rumours at the moment.
Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are also attracting interest from Europe’s elite, so that could be a worry for Eddie Howe and co.
Gordon is also likely to be tricky to keep hold of, but at the same time it’s hard to imagine Newcastle would sell all three of those star names.
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust
Bayern’s long-running interest in Woltemade could also be useful as that would likely be a fairly big sale that would mean less pressure to cash in on those other big names.
Bayern surely don’t need Anthony Gordon
It’s also worth noting that Bayern don’t really need someone like Gordon as a priority this summer as they already have so much quality in attack.
Michael Olise is having the season of his life, while Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, and Serge Gnabry are also all playing some fantastic football.
Gordon might want to leave Newcastle to challenge himself at a higher level, but there’s also surely little sense in him moving to somewhere like Bayern if he’s only going to warm the bench.
The former Everton youngster would surely get more of a key role at a club like Arsenal, with the Gunners in desperate need of an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
Nine points clear at the top of the table with six games left and Arsenal fans are booing their team off the pitch at the Emirates Stadium – of course there’s more context to it than that, but it’s a useful reminder that the Gunners mustn’t overreact.
There will inevitably be talk of Mikel Arteta’s future as Arsenal manager now. Since everyone has more or less already decided that the club are going to bottle it and finish trophyless again, it stands to reason that the next question is over the manager and if his project has ran out of steam.
Except, the season isn’t over yet, so let’s pause, take a breath, and take a moment to look a little closer at Arsenal’s situation.
Gooners are sure they have been through this exact scenario before, but every season is different, and even if finishing second three years in a row can start to feel rather similar, there was only one ‘bottling’ in that three-year run, and even then it was arguably only a serious William Saliba injury that saw Manchester City’s treble winners overtake them.

Is the Arteta sack talk justified? Here’s five reasons we think Arsenal need to stick with him…
Title still in Arsenal’s hands
So, to start by stating the obvious, Arsenal’s season isn’t over yet. Far from it. We’ll get to the Champions League in a moment, but firstly let’s remember that the title is still in their hands.
Manchester City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later today – in just a few hours’ time they may well have dropped more points to keep Arsenal’s lead intact.
It’s also far from a given that Man City beat Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side desperately need the three points in that one, but have only won one in their last seven games against the north Londoners, having drawn their last two meetings against them at the Etihad.
After that, it’s unpredictable – we’ve seen both of these sides drop points in games you’d have expected them to win this season, so anyone backing City to go on one of their lengthy winning runs of old probably hasn’t seen them play much this term.

Bournemouth a tougher fixture than it looks
It’s easy to forget just how tough Arsenal’s schedule has been this season, in what is generally considered to be one of the most competitive Premier Leagues we’ve had.
So, when Bournemouth went into yesterday’s game having had 22 days of rest since their last game, while Arsenal were playing their third in a week, is anyone that surprised that Arteta’s men looked comparatively slower and less sharp?
Of course there can’t be too many excuses in a title race, you’ve simply got to win games like this, but slip-ups also happen even to the best teams, and this was an underrated mid-table side who have played good football all season long, and who will likely pick up more points against the big teams before the campaign is done.
Meanwhile, their manager Andoni Iraola is becoming widely recognised as one of the top coaches in the game, and there’s every chance he’ll be in the frame for jobs like Manchester United and Liverpool if they decide to change manager this summer. Perhaps he’ll even be leading Man City’s next title challenge if Pep decides to call it a day.
This has been a theme for Arsenal all season, and while everyone might be sick of hearing about it, it doesn’t make it not an issue.
Yesterday against Bournemouth, Arsenal lined up without: Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, and Eberechi Eze and Piero Hincapie were only fit enough to start on the bench.
Arteta has had some critics for over-using certain players and not rotating enough, and that may well have led to the dip in form of someone like Martin Zubimendi, but most players at top clubs will be well aware that they’re expected to perform at the very highest level every few days. This simply hasn’t been the case for Odegaard and Calafiori in particular, and there are a few other members of this squad who are clearly injury-prone in a way that makes it impossible to just pin the blame onto the manager.
Champions League semi-final appearance likely
Arsenal won 1-0 away to Sporting Lisbon just a matter of days ago, becoming the first team to win at the Portuguese giants’ stadium since August. They were the better team for the most part, and it has to go down as an excellent result.
Barring a disaster in the second leg, Arsenal are now surely though to the Champions League semi–finals for a second season in a row. For those getting misty-eyed about the Arsene Wenger era and all the pretty football those teams played, it’s worth remembering that this is a club that has NEVER made consecutive Champions League semi-final appearances, and that will have made precisely HALF of their appearances at this stage of the competition under Arteta.
Hiring a manager is difficult, so if you’re going to sack one of the best in Europe you’d better be sure you’re getting an upgrade.
Who is there? Guardiola isn’t joining and almost certainly never will. Jurgen Klopp has basically retired, and won’t manage another Premier League club anyway. Thomas Tuchel only recently signed a new contract with England so is surely there for the next few years unless the World Cup goes far worse than expected. Carlo Ancelotti is probably going to retire after his stint with Brazil.
So in the absence of a proven winner out there, you’re gambling on someone like Enzo Maresca or Ruben Amorim, or if you’re lucky you might get yourself an Arne Slot, though you’ll probably then have to think about replacing him again after just a couple of years.
Sacking Arteta sounds like the plain and obvious solution until you actually give it the slightest bit of thought. He’s going nowhere unless he decides he’s had enough, and then he has his pick of every top job out there, you just wait and see.

The 19-year-old Frenchman has been a big hit since joining the Cherries last summer, and he’ll surely be their next big sale after they previously cashed in on the likes of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo.
I’d heard murmurings about Kroupi before yesterday, but you’d be amazed what big performances in important games can do for a player’s value. I can assure you it’s not just a cliché that selling clubs put a lot of emphasis on World Cups, to take an example that will be highly relevant this summer, in determining how much they can realistically make from a sale. Equally, buying clubs are, in fairness, likely to be even happier to pay once they’ve seen their targets impress in the matches that matter.
Eli Junior Kroupi to Liverpool or Chelsea?
So, after doing a bit of digging after yesterday’s game, I was not too surprised to find growing interest in Kroupi, who has long been on the radar of top clubs, but who is now likely to be a priority target.
“Liverpool and Chelsea have a very concrete interest, they’re both really keen to make a deal happen this summer and are looking into it,” one source said.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool have already had some conversations,” another source told me. “Richard Hughes has a good relationship with his former club and will be on the phone to his counterparts there after that performance yesterday.”
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust
Kroupi was superb against Arsenal, scoring the opening goal, and completing 12 of his 13 passes, whilst also working hard out of possession in a game that Bournemouth generally deserved to win.
Chelsea are also continuing to look for the best young players in the world and Kroupi is, I’m told, very high up on their list for this summer. The Blues need more in attack after Liam Delap’s poor form and a dip from the likes of Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto.
Eli Junior Kroupi transfer price revealed
Bournemouth notably sold Huijsen to Real Madrid last summer and they’ll probably hope again to avoid losing a key player like Kroupi to a Premier League rival.
One avenue for them could be Paris Saint-Germain, according to my sources, but their interest is not yet as concrete as that of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Expect other names to come up soon as well, with sources indicating Bournemouth could let Kroupi go for just £55-60m.
That’s a potential bargain for a player so young who’s already shown so much quality at the highest level, so it’s not the kind of opportunity that the likes of Arsenal and the Manchester clubs are likely to ignore, even if I’m not aware of them actively exploring him for the moment.
Mark my words, though, there’ll be more on Kroupi in the weeks ahead, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on any info as I get it!
However, with the Reds now understood to be closing in on a new contract for Ibrahima Konate, it appears that they’re no longer in the running, if Matteo Moretto’s post on X is anything to go by.
See below as Moretto, who has worked with Fabrizio Romano, says Senesi now looks to be closest to Man Utd, Chelsea, and Spurs, with no mention of Liverpool…
Marcos Senesi está a punto de elegir su próximo equipo.
Sus agentes están en estrecho contacto con Chelsea, Tottenham y Manchester United.
“Marcos Senesi is about to choose his next team. His agents are in close contact with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United. The rest of the teams are much further away,” Moretto said.
Senesi has shone at Bournemouth and will be available as a free agent this summer, so these top clubs queuing up for him is hardly a surprise.

What next for Marcos Senesi?
Senesi has proven himself at Premier League level and should be a valuable addition to a top club this summer, even if he’s perhaps only going to be a relatively short-term option.
The 28-year-old has probably already peaked, but he could still be a useful squad player for the next two or three years at least.
Chelsea would surely benefit from having someone more experienced in their squad, while United could probably also do with a bit more depth after so many injuries to the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt.
It seems a decision is close and it’s becoming clearer which clubs are emerging as the favourites.
The talented 19-year-old is currently on loan at Marseille after a lack of playing time at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season, and it seems his future could be assessed this summer.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano made it clear that Arsenal had not made a final decision on Nwaneri yet, nor had they communicated with him or his representatives about any kind of intention to let him go.
“Dortmund wanted (Nwaneri) on a permanent transfer from Arsenal already one year ago, when Arsenal were negotiating a new contract with Nwaneri,” Romano said.
“At the end they were successful in reaching an agreement. There were Chelsea very interested and Borussia Dortmund – these two clubs. So interest especially from Borussia Dortmund remains very strong in Nwaneri. There are several clubs around Europe attentive to the situation.
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust
“At the moment Arsenal have not communicated anything to the player. So they didn’t tell the player and his camp ‘okay you can leave in the summer’. So that’s not the case at the moment. It’s still not decided.
“At the end of the season Arsenal will assess the situation with Nwaneri. Not today. It’s still not clear but from Dortmund they are still hoping to do one of their typical deals … signing these top players, top talents and then eventually sell them in the future.
“So Nwaneri is for sure still on the short list of Dortmund but still nothing decided by Arsenal. So that remains a situation.”
Should Arsenal keep Ethan Nwaneri?
Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly both looked outstanding for Arsenal when they got an unexpectedly high amount of opportunities in the first-team last season.
For one reason or another, they’re now out of favour, but Nwaneri in particular looks like he’s surely worth giving more chances to.
Capable of playing a variety of roles, Nwaneri could either be an upgrade on the injury-prone and out-of-form Martin Odegaard, or an alternative to inconsistent duo Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke on the right-hand side.
At the same time, however, in this era of Financial Fair Play regulations, it’s important for clubs to be able to raise pure profit where possible, which means more of an emphasis on selling academy players.
A lot of fans probably won’t like it, but that could mean that Arsenal have a big decision to make on Nwaneri this summer, with interest clearly there.

Although the Portugal international has ongoing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, it seems that Man Utd improving their Champions League qualification hopes has made a big difference.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano on his latest YouTube post, with the transfer expert explaining that Fernandes is really tempted to stay and play in the Champions League with the Red Devils.
It seems there are talks planned for after the end of the season over Fernandes’ future, so the club’s fans will certainly hope that this is finally heading in a more positive direction.
Fabrizio Romano on Bruno Fernandes’ future
“What I can tell you is that over the recent weeks, the prospect of playing Champions League football again at Manchester United is really, really making an impact on Bruno Fernandes,” Romano said.
“At the moment, what I can tell you guys is that from Saudi, they still want Bruno as they always wanted Bruno three years ago, two years ago, one year ago.
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust
“So, they remain interested. But Bruno is really tempted by playing Champions League football with Man United. So Man United are optimistic on keeping Bruno Fernandes for next season.
“Let’s see how the conversations will continue. Let’s see what’s going to happen. But Man United are optimistic. Then is going to be a conversation between Bruno and Man United at the end of the season.
“So we will follow the situation. But for sure United hope they can keep Bruno and they are going to try to keep Bruno Fernandes.”
Bruno Fernandes transfer summary
Fernandes will have just a year left on his contract with United this summer, meaning we can’t be entirely sure how this saga will play out.
However, Romano’s words will be encouraging for MUFC supporters, as one of the most reliable journalists in the industry seems to be strongly suggesting that both the club and the player are keen to continue together.
The 31-year-old may well want to play in the Champions League with United, but a move to one of those clubs would surely give him a far better chance of actually winning the competition, as well as other major titles, the likes of which have eluded him during his time in Manchester.
A warning from Liverpool
United might do well to look at how rivals Liverpool were blindsided by Mohamed Salah’s sudden drop-off in form this season.
Another ageing Premier League star, Salah’s world class form last season earned him a new contract, but fast forward one year later and he’s struggled to show anything close to his best form, and is now leaving.
Fernandes might be able to avoid that kind of fate, but it’s always a risk handing out deals to players who might suddenly find they’re heading into an irreversible decline.
Manchester United could reportedly use the 2026 World Cup to their advantage in this summer’s race to sign Nottingham Forest central midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The Red Devils surely won’t find it easy to land Anderson after his world class form in the Premier League this season, but it seems they’re not giving up.
DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY
And Man Utd seemingly also feel they have one secret weapon up their sleeves in the form of Harry Maguire, according to the Sun.
Nottingham Forest want bidding war for Elliot Anderson
It’s also in Forest’s interest for this saga to drag on a little bit, as they’ll want big money from Anderson’s sale.
The England international will therefore probably be allowed the time to go to the World Cup and impress, with some strong performances on the biggest stage only likely to add to his market value.
That will then allow United the time to use an experienced figure like Maguire to work his magic on Anderson during their time together with the England squad.
As noted by TEAMtalk, it seems MUFC feel this is a strategy that has worked well for them before, as they signed big-name England stars like Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney after major international tournaments.
Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust
Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are other players United could deploy to try to lure Anderson to the club, but of course City will also surely have some players in Thomas Tuchel’s squad that could influence the player’s decision.
Can Man City stars convince Elliot Anderson?
John Stones and Nico O’Reilly will probably be in the England squad at this summer’s World Cup, so they could also get a word in Anderson’s ear.
Meanwhile, it’s surely also the case that if other clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea want to get involved, they could also use players like Declan Rice and Reece James, respectively, to try to talk Anderson round.
All in all, this saga doesn’t seem like one that’s going to be resolved any time soon, so we can expect more stories like this in the weeks and months ahead as different teams try to edge each other out in the race for this fantastic talent.
Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs to have been approached over the potential transfer of Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza.
The 26-year-old is due to be out of contract this summer and it seems he has a long list of admirers from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been sounded out by intermediaries, and it seems they are interested in a potential deal, while Manchester City, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Everton could also be in the mix, according to TEAMtalk.
With so many clubs involved, it’s hard to know for sure where Mingueza could be most likely to move to next, but the report suggests that Arsenal and Man City seem particularly keen on the Spain international.
Oscar Mingueza looks like a low-risk transfer to add quality and depth
Given that Mingueza is set to be available on a free this summer, there’s little risk in offering him a deal.
This is a player still in his prime years, with quality and experience and the ability to fill in in a variety of defensive positions, and even in midfield.
With Arsenal suffering so many injuries this season, it’s easy to see why a player of this profile would appeal to Mikel Arteta, so see below for how we scored this potential signing for the Gunners…
Even if Mingueza is not the best player in the world or someone who’ll get a lot of fans off their seats, he looks like the potential to be a superb market opportunity.
