Marcus Rashford is a player in demand and manager’s stance is a testament to that

Marcus Rashford’s Barcelona spell could become more than just a temporary escape from Manchester United.

According to TEAMtalk, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made it clear behind the scenes that he wants the club to keep Rashford beyond his loan deal and make the move permanent in the summer.

The 28-year-old forward reportedly has a €30 million purchase clause included in his loan agreement, and Barcelona must activate it by June 15 if they want to secure him under those terms.

However, there is also a chance the club may try to negotiate a different payment structure instead of triggering the clause exactly as it stands.

Marcus Rashford has revived his career

This is a pretty fascinating situation because Rashford’s career has felt stuck in a strange place for a while.

At Man United, he went from being one of the club’s main faces to a player constantly surrounded by criticism, pressure and uncertainty. His form dipped, his confidence looked affected, and it often felt like every performance was being judged more harshly than most.

Barcelona, though, may be offering him something different, a fresh environment, a new tactical setup and a manager who clearly believes in him.

That last part is important. Flick asking internally for Rashford to stay suggests this is not just a boardroom idea or a cheap market opportunity. It sounds like the coach sees real value in him.

Barcelona are looking to make the deal permanent

From Barcelona’s side, the deal also makes sense in a practical way. A €30 million fee for an experienced international forward is not outrageous in today’s market, especially for a player who can operate from the left, attack space, run behind defenders and offer directness.

Barcelona have plenty of technical players, but Rashford brings a different kind of threat. He is not always silky or perfect in tight areas, but when he is confident, he can stretch teams and change matches quickly.

The financial side is still likely to be complicated. Barcelona have had well-known issues with spending limits and squad registration in recent years, so even a €30 million deal may need creativity. That could be why a restructured agreement is being discussed.

New: Spurs attacker looks set for summer transfer as preliminary agreement reached

Tottenham’s on-loan striker Randal Kolo Muani is reportedly looking set for a possible transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Juventus.

The France international has not had the most positive impact during his spell at Spurs this season, making a return to parent club PSG a likely option.

From there, it looks like there may already be a preliminary agreement for Kolo Muani to return to former club Juventus, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport.

Kolo Muani has had a difficult few years, scoring only 11 goals in 54 appearances for PSG, and a total of only five in 38 games on loan at Tottenham this season.

In between that, the 27-year-old’s best form seemed to come during a loan with Juventus, where he scored ten times in 22 appearances.

Randal Kolo Muani set to leave Tottenham and seal Juventus transfer

It seems an agreement is more or less already in place for PSG to let Kolo Muani go to Juventus once his loan deal at Spurs comes to an end.

Some THFC fans may be disappointed that this deal didn’t work out better, but it certainly seems like the best thing now would be to make numerous changes to this struggling squad after an awful season of fighting against relegation.

It may well be that Tottenham still end up going down, but either way it surely makes little sense for Kolo Muani to be a long-term part of their rebuilding plans.

Juventus, meanwhile, could benefit from bringing the Frenchman in as they have Dusan Vlahovic coming towards the end of his contract.

Kolo Muani may not be the best striker in the world, but he’d probably be available on the cheap and he’s shown he can do the job in Serie A.

Broad agreement in place, “optimism” over £75m-plus Newcastle & Bayern transfer going through

Newcastle and Bayern Munich reportedly look to be working towards a transfer deal for Anthony Gordon as the player has agreed the move.

The two clubs remain apart on Gordon’s valuation, with Newcastle wanting over £75m for the England international, but there is generally thought to be optimism on reaching a breakthrough for the deal to go through.

See below for details from journalist Ben Jacobs, who says Gordon has a broad agreement with Bayern, and that it’s now just for the two clubs to come to some kind of compromise…

Gordon has shone for Newcastle and it makes sense that a big club like Bayern are pushing to bring him in this summer.

Liverpool and Arsenal have also been linked with the 25-year-old in recent times by the Telegraph and others, but it seems he could be about to continue his career away from the Premier League.

Newcastle will surely be keen to keep hold of Gordon, but if they get a big fee for him and are able to prevent him moving to a rival, that might go down as good business and an acceptable compromise.

It’s undoubtedly a blow, however, for NUFC to see a big name like Gordon moving on just a year after the club also lost Alexander Isak to Liverpool.

Report: Arsenal lining up historic €90m transfer investment as initial talks held

Arsenal are reportedly lining up a €90m transfer bid for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Arda Guler after initial talks between intermediaries.

Guler is greatly admired by Arsenal, and we’ve previously reported here on the Gunners pursuing the Turkey international ahead of this summer.

It seems there’s now been an update as Spanish outlet Fichajes claim Arsenal are preparing to make a ‘historic investment’ of around €90m to sign Guler.

The report adds, however, that Guler himself has indicated that he’s flattered but not looking for a move, while Real Madrid also don’t want to sell.

Could Arsenal seal Arda Guler transfer swoop?

There could still be a chance for Arsenal, though, as Fichajes’ report also suggests that the change in manager at the Bernabeu this summer could cause some uncertainty.

Jose Mourinho is expected to take over, and it’s fair to say that Guler doesn’t exactly seem like an obvious fit for the Portuguese tactician’s preferred style of football.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Arsenal could also be a tempting project for a player like Guler, as the 21-year-old looks like an ideal candidate to come in and provide an alternative and perhaps a long-term replacement for the increasingly injury-prone Martin Odegaard.

Arsenal are also competing for a remarkable Premier League and Champions League double this season, with just three more wins required to give them what would surely be the greatest season in their entire history.

That would help lure players like Guler to the Emirates Stadium, especially as things haven’t exactly gone that smoothly in Madrid this season with another trophyless campaign and plenty of bad blood in the dressing room.

“Decision is imminent” – Man City close to important breakthrough following talks

“Real Madrid has not yet taken any official steps with Manchester City regarding Rodri, despite the interest they have in him, and now the midfielder is closer to renewing with the English club,” Moretto said.

“The decision is imminent. Manchester City has been negotiating the renewal with Rodri for weeks and is now willing to accelerate the process to keep him for at least one more year in the Premier League.”

Manchester City handed Rodri boost

Rodri is a hugely important player for City, so this will surely be seen as hugely positive news for the club, even if the 29-year-old has had some recent injury problems.

MCFC could do with strengthening in midfield this summer, as Rodri will surely need more rest soon after becoming someone that Pep Guardiola is so heavily reliant on.

Sky Sports have been among the outlets to strongly link City with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and bringing in someone like that could be ideal to help the club eventually replace Rodri.

For now, however, it’s clear that Rodri remains one of the very best players in the world in his position and not someone City would want to lose to a Champions League rival like Real Madrid.

Just In: Newcastle United winning transfer battle against Liverpool for 22-year-old African star

Newcastle United appear to be moving strongly in the race for AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, and that could be bad news for Liverpool.

According to TEAMtalk, the Magpies are currently ahead of the Reds in the battle to sign the 22-year-old Senegal international, who has been building a very solid reputation in France.

Camara joined Monaco from FC Metz in 2024 and has already racked up 70 Ligue 1 appearances for the club.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That is a lot of senior football for someone still only 22, and it explains why Premier League clubs are now starting to pay serious attention to him.

Newcastle’s interest makes plenty of sense. Their midfield has often looked strong on paper, but there is still a feeling that Eddie Howe’s squad needs more energy, depth and long-term security in that area.

Newcastle United are looking for a new midfielder

The situation around Sandro Tonali also adds another angle to the story. If Tonali leaves in the summer, Newcastle would need a proper replacement rather than a quick squad filler.

Camara could fit that idea nicely. He is young, mobile, aggressive in midfield and already has experience playing at a good level in Ligue 1.

He is not just a project player who needs three or four years before he can contribute. He has already played regular senior football and has international experience with Senegal, which usually helps players handle pressure and physical battles.

Liverpool being mentioned is also not surprising. The Reds are always looking at midfielders who can cover ground, press well and grow into bigger roles.

Even after refreshing their midfield in recent seasons, Liverpool still need to keep planning ahead. Players move on, form drops, injuries happen, and the best clubs are usually the ones who solve problems before they become obvious.

Magpies move would make more sense than Liverpool

But this is where Newcastle may have an advantage. At Liverpool, Camara might look at the squad and wonder how quickly he would get regular starts.

There is a lot of competition in midfield, and even talented players can find themselves stuck in rotation. Newcastle, on the other hand, may be able to offer a clearer route to important minutes, especially if Tonali goes.

Camara would not be the loudest signing of the summer, but he could be a clever one. Sometimes these are the deals that end up mattering most. A player like him can bring legs, hunger and competition to a midfield that needs to stay fresh across a long season.

For Liverpool, missing out would not be a disaster, but it would be slightly annoying if Camara becomes a star elsewhere.

The Reds have been very good at identifying players before they explode, so when they are linked with someone, it usually means there is something interesting there.

Casemiro and Man United legend mock Carragher after “big disrespect” from Sky Sports pundit

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand asked Casemiro about that infamous quote from pundit Jamie Carragher a couple of years ago, when the former Liverpool player suggested the Brazilian needed to leave top-level football.

Casemiro had a difficult spell towards the end of his second season at Man Utd, prompting Carragher to suggest he was finished in the Premier League and urging him to leave the football before the football leaves him.

Remarkably, two years later Casemiro is still at United and is set to depart as something of a cult hero this summer once his contract expires.

The former Real Madrid man has done well to get back to his best with the Red Devils and is now sure to always have a special place in the fans’ hearts, even if he clearly wasn’t at the peak of his powers during his time at Old Trafford.

Casemiro and Rio Ferdinand mock Jamie Carragher

Watch below as Casemiro speaks with United legend Rio Ferdinand about a number of topics, including Carragher’s controversial comments…

Casemiro admitted it was “big disrespect” towards him considering the career he’d had, though the pair also enjoyed a joke at Carragher’s expense as Casemiro couldn’t remember his name.

The interview makes for interesting viewing as Ferdinand also goes on to tell Casemiro that he’d heard about his strong mentality when speaking to one of Ruben Amorim’s coaches.

When the 34-year-old was struggling to start games, it seems he never switched off in training and worked as hard as possible to get back into the team, taking advice on how he could improve.

Ferdinand was hugely impressed by this as Casemiro has of course won five Champions League titles, so could be forgiven for thinking that there’s little more he can learn in the game.

Report: Ligue 1 star high on Liverpool radar to potentially replace club icon

If you asked any Liverpool supporter a few months ago how the post-Alisson Becker era would play out, most would have pointed directly to Giorgi Mamardashvili and considered the case closed.

But as the summer transfer window looms, the situation could change quickly with the Merseyside club considering options in the market if Alisson leaves.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Even though the 33-year-old recently penned an extension tying him to Anfield until 2027, he is being linked with a move to Juventus in Serie A.

You would assume Alisson’s exit simply triggers Mamardashvili’s automatic coronation as the undisputed number one. Instead, emerging reports claim Liverpool’s higher-ups aren’t entirely comfortable handing the Georgian the keys without a backup plan.

Reds are interested in a move for Ligue 1 star

This is where Lucas Chevalier enters the picture. According to TuttoJuve, Liverpool are targeting a move for the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old French keeper is currently enduring a nightmare stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
Just last summer, PSG shelled out roughly €40 million to bring him in from Lille as the definitive replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

But life under Luis Enrique can be notoriously ruthless, following a shaky start to life at the Parc des Princes, Chevalier found himself benched in favour of Matvey Safonov.

Now, despite holding a contract that runs until 2030, Chevalier is firmly on the market, and Liverpool’s scouting department is reportedly eager to offer him an escape route to the Premier League.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has also been floated as a potential wildcard target if Villa are forced into a big-money summer sale.

Should Liverpool target a move for the PSG goalkeeper?

If he has already struggled to settle at PSG, Liverpool would need to be very sure that he has the mentality to handle Anfield, the Premier League and the pressure of replacing an all-time great.

Signing Chevalier on top of Mamardashvili could create an awkward situation unless there is a very clear plan. Two young goalkeepers fighting for one position sounds good in theory, but in reality, keepers need rhythm, trust and regular matches.

Liverpool should either fully back Mamardashvili or bring in an experienced keeper like Martinez for a shorter-term transition.

Chevalier makes sense only if the club genuinely believes he is better suited to their future than Mamardashvili.

Alisson leaving would be a huge emotional and footballing blow, so it makes sense for Richard Hughes and the recruitment team to look at different options early.

Arsenal urged to make bold move for versatile midfielder to rescue him from La Liga

Arsenal have been told they should be ready to make a serious move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni if he becomes available this summer.

The Gunners already have a strong midfield of Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, not to forget Myles-Lewis Skelly has also been deployed in the midfield and he has been quite impressive.

Tchouameni has been linked with a possible Premier League switch, and talkSPORT’s Andy Brassell believes Mikel Arteta’s side should not ignore the opportunity, especially if Manchester City are also watching the situation closely.

The interesting part is not just that Arsenal could strengthen their own midfield. It is also about stopping one of their biggest title rivals from getting stronger. That is where this story becomes a lot more interesting.

Real Madrid could sell the French midfielder

Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid appears uncertain after reports of a serious training-ground dispute involving him and Federico Valverde.

He is still only in his mid-20s, has a contract until 2028, and is valued at more than £70 million.

“I think it’s a really difficult decision for Real Madrid because there’s so much of what Tchouameni does which should be what they’re going to build around in the years to come,” Brassell told talkSPORT.

“You look at his age, you look at the number of years that he’s got to give them, how much he’s got to develop, how much he’s developed already.

“He’s someone who can play centre-back and not look like a midfielder playing in defence as well. That’s really useful.

“You add on to the fact that he is a real leader and from the moment he arrived, a little bit like Jude Bellingham, he really impressed people with his personality, his attitude, his confidence, his application.

“But there’s no getting away from the fact that he and Valverde have had this serious argument,” Brassell continued to talkSPORT.

“There’s probably an argument that one of them has to go, and basically, Tchouameni’s got a bigger market out there.

“Real Madrid, I think, will at least consider offers – In an ideal world, I don’t think they sell him, but there will always be a market for Tchouameni in the Premier League, and there’ll probably be some recognition of that and depending on the offer, I guess it’s something they might take as well.

“I think when you look at the clubs, there are two obvious answers, and those are the two teams at the top of the league, Arsenal and Manchester City.”

Ultimately, executing a successful raid on Real Madrid for a prime-age international of Tchouameni’s caliber will require a monumental financial package.

Arsenal could make a statement with this signing

Yet, for Arsenal, planning a move for Tchouameni would make a statement and show their rivals that they mean business for next season.

Arteta is an admirer of versatile players who can play in a number of different positions, the Frenchman is exactly that.

Landing the French dynamo would not only future-proof the Gunners’ midfield for peak domestic and European competition but also deliver a profound psychological blow to their rivals.

He is an outstanding player, no doubt. If he becomes available, nearly every top club should at least ask the question.

But from Arsenal’s point of view, the real value might not only be what he adds to their squad.

It is what he prevents City from adding to theirs. That sounds slightly ruthless, but that is what elite clubs do.

When you are fighting for titles, you cannot just think about improving yourself. You also have to think about blocking your rivals from solving their problems.

“Anything can happen’ – Liverpool star unsure over his long term future at Anfield

Joe Gomez could be one of the next experienced Liverpool players facing a big decision this summer.

After spending more than a decade at Anfield, the defender’s future is starting to look a little unclear, especially with only one year remaining on his current contract.

Gomez has been at Liverpool since 2015, making him the longest-serving player currently at the club. That alone says a lot.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

He has been through almost everything with the Reds, the highs of winning the Premier League and Champions League, the injury setbacks, the squad rebuilds, and the changing eras under different managers.

But football moves quickly, and this summer may force both the club and the player to think seriously about what comes next.

Joe Gomez has been a brilliant servant for Liverpool

The situation is not exactly simple. Gomez still has plenty to offer. He is experienced, calm, and extremely useful because he can play across the whole back line.

Whether Liverpool need him at centre-back, right-back or even left-back, he has usually been willing to step in and do the job without making a fuss.

But the problem is game time. Injuries have disrupted him again this season, with small fitness issues limiting his rhythm. He has started only 15 matches from 31 appearances, and across the last two campaigns, he has managed just 48 appearances in total.

Asked about his future, he said, as reported by Sky Sports:

“No. I think anything can happen. I don’t know is the honest answer.

“I’ve only got a year left so I don’t know, but whatever is meant to be will be, I guess.

“But I’m so grateful to have had this time here at this club. I’ll always be grateful to have had 11 years at a place like this. All I can do is be thankful and we’ll see.”

For a player approaching 29, that is not ideal. This is the stage of his career where he probably wants to be playing regularly, not sitting around waiting for gaps in the squad.

Liverpool’s defensive options also appear to be getting stronger. Jeremy Jacquet is reportedly arriving from Rennes in a £60 million deal, while Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are expected to return from serious knee injuries.

What next for the English defender?

There has also been outside interest before. Newcastle were linked with him last season, while AC Milan have been mentioned this term.

Liverpool should not push Gomez out without respect, because he has been a loyal servant and has delivered in some huge moments. But at the same time, keeping him around just because he has been there for years would not really help him or the club.

From Gomez’s point of view, a fresh challenge could be exactly what he needs. He is not finished. He is not too old. He still has the qualities to be a regular starter somewhere else.

But at Liverpool, he may now be seen more as a reliable squad option than a first-choice defender.

Liverpool are building for the future, and Gomez may need a club where he can be more than just a useful backup.

World Cup Dark Horses

The World Cup 2026 is drawing ever closer. As most of the domestic competitions in Europe
approach their climax, attention will soon divert to the largest-ever World Cup, with 48
nations battling it out to be crowned champion. There have only ever been eight different
winners of the most prestigious competition in international football, and the likelihood of that
changing this year seems to be remote.

That’s not to say that there won’t be a few shocks in store this summer, however. World
Cups always throw up some surprising games and results. Anyone planning to place World
Cup bets on a winner might want to look at a previous champion, but these extended finals
promise a lot of drama and excitement along the way. MyTopSportsbooks is a great place to find the best place to make your World Cup predictions, but if you need a little more information on some of the less-fancied teams, this article has all you need to know about potential dark horses at World Cup 2026.

Mexico

Host nations are well-known to overachieve in front of their own fans, with South Korea’s
march to the semifinal stage in 2002 a good example. There are, of course, three co-hosts of
this summer’s tournament, but it is Mexico that might spring a surprise. Mexico has much more of a World Cup pedigree, having featured at the last eight finals and hosting two before that. El Tri has historically been the powerhouse of North American football and, while that has changed somewhat, there is promise in a squad that has more players from Liga MX than in the past. If all goes well, Mexico will play on home soil until the quarterfinals and is very difficult to score against. In the heat of North America, this is one local team that could do well.

Scotland

This nation hasn’t qualified for a World Cup finals since 1998, but back-to-back appearances
at the European Championship have boosted confidence in a team that is home to a number
of stars of the EPL and Serie A. Topping a qualification group that also included World Cup
regular Denmark was just the latest example of Scotland’s improvement. Steve Clarke’s men will do well to beat the drama of the final qualifying game against Denmark, in which two stoppage-time goals booked a finals berth. But a sense of togetherness among the squad could cause some upsets this summer, with the talismanic Scott McTominay keen to carry on the good form he has shown at Napoli. One thing’s for sure, the Scottish fans will do everything they can to make every game a special occasion.

Türkiye

Don’t be fooled by Türkiye’s need for a playoff victory against Bosnia into thinking that this is a team to disregard this summer. You shouldn’t really take anything from the fact that Türkiye have only ever featured at two World Cup finals either, even if the last appearance was in 2002. An exciting young squad, packed with talent, Türkiye could go far. It is true that Türkiye has been many people’s dark horse at the last two European Championships and has largely disappointed, but a good showing in the group stage could act as a springboard for the rest of the tournament. Türkiye doesn’t face the US until the last game of the opening phase and, by then, the likes of Arda Güler and Kenan Yildiz may have already made an impact.

Ecuador

When it comes to South America, most fans will be expecting to see Argentina and Brazil
progressing to the latter stages. But it is Ecuador that took CONMEBOL qualifying by storm,
only finishing second to the current World champion and losing just twice in a marathon 18-
game schedule.

La Tri has impressed in friendlies since booking a place at the finals as well, including
drawing on the road in Mexico and the Netherlands. Led by Chelsea midfielder Moisés
Caceido, Ecuador has a squad full of players plying their trade in Europe and Brazil, but a
tough group draw could be a sticking point. Both Germany and the Ivory Coast will be tough
opponents, but anything could happen if there is progression from the opening phase.

Egypt

Morocco was the surprise team of the last World Cup, with its deep run only ending at the
semifinal stage against France. The Atlas Lions had beaten both Spain and Portugal along
the way, and their great rival, Egypt, will now be looking to emulate that feat this summer.
The Pharaohs may never have won a finals game in three separate attempts, but an
expanded format might suit them this time.

Egypt will kick off its finals against Belgium, and any kind of result there would set them up
nicely. Even a battling defeat would spur them on in their remaining two games. This will
surely be the last chance for Mo Salah to shine on the global stage, and his teammates will
be doing everything they can to send him off in a fitting manner.

Norway

Finally, possibly the quintessential dark horse for this summer’s World Cup. Norway is
another nation that hasn’t competed at a finals since 1998, but big things are expected of the
Scandinavians this year. That has a lot to do with the strength of its squad, but mostly because of the presence of Erling Haaland. Haaland has won everything in European club football while at Manchester City, but he has not been able to prove his worth on the international stage as yet. He will face some tough teams in the group stage, with Senegal and France coming up after an opening fixture against Iraq. If Norway can make it out of what many people are calling the “group of death”, Haaland and Norway may well make up for lost time.

Not Rice or Raya: Scholes names Arsenal player who deserves Player of the year crown

Paul Scholes has never been the type to say something just to please Manchester United fans, and his latest Premier League Player of the Year opinion proves that once again.

With the season reaching its final stretch, the debate around the league’s standout performer has become a big talking point, and Scholes has surprised plenty of people by backing Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães for the award.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Players like Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice have been in the conversation mostly.

Some people have even mentioned Gunners goalkeeper David Raya as a strong contender by Scholes believes Gabriel deserves it ahead of other players.

Scholes praises Arsenal defender Gabriel

Scholes said he would “probably go with Gabriel,” arguing that the Brazilian has been Arsenal’s best player this season. He also admitted Declan Rice has been brilliant, but suggested Rice has not quite done enough to win the honour.

He said on The Good, The Bad & The Football Podcast: “I would probably go with Gabriel. I think he has been Arsenal’s best player.

“People say Declan Rice – Brilliant player, but I don’t think he has done enough to win the Player of the Year.

“I think probably Bruno has been the best player but I get Nicky’s point of being at the top of the league.”

It is definitely an interesting shout. Usually, these individual awards are dominated by attacking players, the ones scoring goals, creating chances, producing highlight moments and carrying the biggest media attention.

That is why names like Fernandes, Rice and Erling Haaland naturally come up before a centre-back like Gabriel.

But Scholes’ argument does make some sense from a different angle. Arsenal are fighting at the very top of the table, and Gabriel has been a massive part of their defensive strength.

Gabriel has been a huge asset for Arteta’s side

He has brought leadership, aggression, consistency and calmness to Mikel Arteta’s side. In a title race, those qualities matter just as much as goals and assists, even if they do not always get the same spotlight.

Scholes is right to give Gabriel more respect, because defenders are too often pushed aside in these conversations.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s most important players and deserves to be mentioned seriously.

Scholes has definitely sparked debate with his surprise choice, and that is probably the point.

Gabriel has been outstanding and deserves more credit than he usually gets, especially in a league that often favours attackers.

The majority might still feel that Fernandes is the better player but Arsenal possibly winning the league might give edge to their players.

‘High-energy’ midfielder wanted at Man United before the start of the World Cup

With Champions League football officially secured for next season, Manchester United are looking to strengthen their squad.

According to reports from Sky Sports, the Old Trafford hierarchy has set its sights on finalising a blockbuster deal for Brighton & Hove Albion’s standout midfielder Carlos Baleba before the 2026 World Cup kicks off in North America.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a primary target to anchor United’s revamped engine room.

United hope to bypass the inevitable market inflation and provide Michael Carrick, or whoever becomes their permanent manager, with a vital foundational cornerstone for his demanding upcoming campaign.

Carlos Baleba has been impressive for Brighton

Baleba has been described as a ‘high-energy‘ midfielder since his move to Brighton.

Veteran midfielder Casemiro is preparing to walk through the exit door upon the expiration of his contract this June, while Manuel Ugarte is heavily tipped for a permanent departure following an unconvincing stint at the club.

Man United have made signing a new midfielder their priority this summer. It is highly likely that the Red Devils could target more than one midfielder this summer.

The Red Devils previously explored a serious push for Baleba during the January window, but the South Coast club firmly blocked his exit.

Man United hold long term interest in Baleba

To his credit, the youngster maintained complete professionalism and honored Brighton’s wishes to remain at the Amex Stadium for the remainder of the campaign, despite privately relishing the prospect of a switch to Old Trafford.

With Cameroon failing to qualify for the expanded tournament in North America, Baleba faces an entirely uninterrupted summer break.

While many of the market’s elite midfield targets will be heavily restricted inside national team camps, United decision-makers have a completely clear runway to finalise a move for the young midfielder.

If United can successfully execute this move, knowing how stubborn Brighton usually are in letting their players leave the club, they will be getting a talented, young midfielder who will be a huge asset to the club for years to come.

Arne Slot’s time is up and there is “obvious” candidate to replace him, says ex-Liverpool star

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes Arne Slot’s time as Reds manager is surely up, with Xabi Alonso the obvious candidate to replace him.

Although Slot won the Premier League title in a memorable first season at Anfield, this campaign has been far more challenging for the Dutch tactician.

It now looks like Slot is losing the support of the Liverpool home crowd, with boos ringing out during and after the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last weekend.

Murphy says he can’t see Slot coming back from this, even if he also feels it is in some way a bit harsh on the former Feyenoord manager.

Xabi Alonso the obvious choice to replace Arne Slot

Discussing Slot’s future with BBC Sport, Murphy made it clear that it now looks like a long way back to being able to win back the club’s fans.

Alonso looks like a strong option to replace Slot at Liverpool, though the pundit also admitted there could be some risk with that appointment as well due to the Spaniard’s struggles in his recent spell in charge of Real Madrid.

“The problem Slot has got, especially at one of the biggest clubs in the world, is that when the fanbase turns, you are really, really struggling to get them back unless you win every game, then not just win, but win in a style Liverpool fans expect and demand,” Murphy said.

He added: “Is there a suitable candidate who can move them forward? The obvious name out there is Xabi Alonso, who is available. He has got popularity, which is key because it gives you a few months’ grace. It also means everybody starts the season in a good place with a lot of energy.

“My only concern with Alonso is more to do with style. He struggled with man-management at Real Madrid but that’s a small concern.

“The gut feeling is that he likes possession with the Spanish mentality, but maybe I’m doing him an injustice because he played at Liverpool. He understands what the fans want. He also has the advantage of previously working with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong at Leverkusen.

“If Alonso is a small risk, like anybody, you then ask is he still better than the situation they’re in? Unfortunately for Slot, I feel the answer is ‘yes’.

“I just don’t see a situation, irrelevant of transfer ins and outs – and there are going to be a lot in the summer – where the fans get back to being 100% behind Slot.

“For that to happen he will have to go on a run like he did in the first season, where he basically won every game. He then has to play in a certain way that Liverpool fans expect.

“I think Slot’s time is probably up. The main reason for saying this is not a dislike of him. I think he’s a good guy and a very bright coach, but the reality is Liverpool’s fanbase is as powerful as any out there, for all sorts of reasons. We know how strong they are in fighting the cause over tickets and other issues, not just the manager.

“I don’t remember a time when the fans turned on a manager then turned it back around.”

Could Liverpool miss out on Xabi Alonso?

Despite the obvious links with Alonso due to his availability and connection with LFC from his playing days, it seems like Chelsea are being increasingly strongly linked with the 44-year-old.

Give Me Sport have reported on positive talks between Chelsea and Alonso, so this seems like something that could advance soon.

If Liverpool are to make a change, then they might have to move quickly or else there might not be as good a candidate out there as Alonso.

Other names like Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, and perhaps Cesc Fabregas will surely be mentioned, but they perhaps don’t look like as much of an obvious upgrade on Slot as Alonso could.

Just In: Premier League boss ruled out of Man United job, making Carrick clear favourite

Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has been ruled out of contention for the permanent head coach vacancy at Manchester United, according to Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford hierarchy has shifted its absolute focus toward rewarding interim boss Michael Carrick with a permanent, long-term contract following his brilliant performance as the club’s interim manager.

With the door to Manchester firmly closed, Iraola is now entirely free to evaluate advanced formal proposals from the capital, where both Crystal Palace and Chelsea are actively battling to secure the signature of one of Europe’s most coveted tactical minds.

Man United have complete faith in Carrick

The boardroom’s change of plans at Old Trafford is a direct consequence of Carrick’s interim success.

Stepping into the dugout in January under deeply turbulent circumstances following Rúben Amorim’s sudden departure, the 44-year-old was initially viewed as a simple steadying hand to navigate the remainder of the season.

Instead, Carrick has overseen a magnificent domestic turnaround, guiding the Red Devils to 10 victories across 14 Premier League outings.

After officially securing vital Champions League qualification with a brilliant 3-2 triumph over Liverpool last weekend, INEOS decision-makers concluded that looking past their former midfielder would be a massive mistake.

Iraola will still have plenty of options

With United no longer in the race, the pursuit of the 43-year-old Basque tactician has intensified into a high-stakes London derby.

Having guided Bournemouth to the absolute brink of historic European qualification, steering the Cherries to sixth in the table amid a spectacular, high-octane campaign, Iraola’s stock has never been higher.

The Spaniard is now one of the top contenders for the Chelsea and Crystal Palace job.

Whether Iraola chooses the high risk Chelsea project or the ambitious, young Palace job, remains to be seen.

Sources: Man United given “signal” to move for €60m transfer, Arsenal have also held talks

Manchester United have an interest in Sporting Lisbon midfielder and Arsenal transfer target Morten Hjulmand as he looks set to become available this summer.

I was recently made aware of the Gunners asking Sporting about Hjulmand when the two teams met in the Champions League quarter-finals, with Ousmane Diomande and Ivan Fresneda also on the agenda.

My understanding after fresh talks with sources in the industry is that Arsenal remain interested in Hjulmand, but that Man Utd are also keeping a close eye on the situation.

It’s widely known that the Red Devils are set to be busy with new midfield additions this summer, with two new faces likely to come in at Old Trafford.

Hjulmand is not necessarily at the top of that list of targets, but he’s a player the club have explored, and he could be available for €60m.

Morten Hjulmand transfer situation explained

A number of sources have confirmed to be that plenty of top clubs are keen on Hjulmand, and that Sporting seem to be open to doing business this summer for below his €80m release clause.

“Arsenal were in touch recently, Man United are also asking to be kept informed,” one source said.

“Sporting have given clubs the signal – he has a €80m release clause, but start negotiations at around €60m and there’s a chance he can go.

“This is their model, and has been for a long time. They know this is a chance to make significant profit on the player, and he’ll be keen to make the step up to a higher level as well.”

It’s worth noting, however, that one or two other sources were keen to play down the idea that this would be a simple and straightforward deal, with Sporting known for being tough negotiators, as they were when eventually reluctantly selling Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal last summer.

What could be going on here is that Sporting hope to invite a bidding war for Hjulmand, which could mean his fee ends up rising well beyond €60m and closer to the €80m release clause fee.

Which clubs are eyeing Morten Hjulmand?

For now, Arsenal or United seem like the main names to watch for Hjulmand, but there are others too.

An interesting one will be Manchester City, because what United end up doing potentially impacts their plans a lot.

Both clubs really want Elliot Anderson, and although City are the favourites there has long been the sense that MUFC will keep pushing for that deal.

If they succeed, then City could move for Hjulmand as an alternative, but it’s still early days yet, and other targets will likely also be considered by both clubs.

It is also my understanding that Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus will likely enter the conversation at some point this summer.

Sky Sport: Man City have a strategy to land wonderkid ahead of Bayern Munich

Hertha BSC’s 16-year-old midfield sensation Kennet Eichhorn has captured the undivided attention of Europe’s elite.

While domestic giants like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig are actively maneuvering to secure his signature, Manchester City have formulated a highly creative strategy to win the race.

According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, manager Pep Guardiola intends to trigger the youngster’s release clause this summer and immediately send him on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, so that he can continue his development even after signing him.

Eichhorn’s meteoric rise over the past year has caught the attention of the biggest clubs in the world.

Eichhorn has made history this season

Standing at an imposing 1.86 meters, the defensive midfielder combines raw physical authority with technical composure.

He has continuously rewritten the history books since making his senior debut: after becoming the youngest player to ever appear in the 2. Bundesliga last August.

Just days ago, on May 10, he cemented his wonderkid status once more, scoring in a 2-1 victory over Greuther Fürth to officially become the youngest goalscorer in 2. Bundesliga history at 16 years and 287 days.

Tactically, Eichhorn is the ideal type of the modern deep-lying midfielder.

Displaying immense spatial awareness and a resistance to pressure that draws frequent comparisons to the likes of Sergio Busquets and Toni Kroos, he relies on crisp, line-breaking distribution and positional intelligence rather than unnecessary dribbling.

Man City are ready to make the bargain move

Contractually, interested suitors have been handed a rare golden opportunity. Although Eichhorn’s contract at Hertha runs until 2029, a highly accessible release clause becomes active at the end of the season.

Capped between €10 million and €12 million, depending on variables such as Hertha’s league status, the destination country, and the purchasing club’s European involvement, the fee represents an absolute bargain in the modern market.

Man City have the right environment for a young player and Guardiola has a habit of spotting talent before they eventually reach another level.

“Ultimate Premier League midfielder” increasingly targeted by Man Utd as transfer opportunity emerges

Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their interest in West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes ahead of the summer.

The talented young Portugal international has shone for the Hammers, having previously also caught the eye during his time at former club Southampton.

Man Utd have several midfielders on their list for this summer, and it seems Fernandes increasingly looks like one of their main targets, according to Sky Sports.

The report explains that the Red Devils are looking for two new additions in that area of the pitch, and that they’re stepping up their interest in both West Ham’s Fernandes and Atalanta’s Ederson.

West Ham relegation threat boosts Man United’s Mateus Fernandes transfer hopes

West Ham lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the weekend as relegation now looks more and more likely with just two games left.

The Hammers are in 18th place, two points behind Tottenham, so there’s still some hope they could get out of the bottom three, but it’s clearly going to be difficult.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

This means a talent like Fernandes is surely going to be on the radar of a lot of top clubs as the 21-year-old is simply too good to be playing in the Championship.

This is what we saw a year ago when he left Southampton after their relegation, with former Saints star Jo Tessem making it clear at the time that he didn’t see the club being able to keep him as he’s so clearly a Premier League player.

“Mateus Fernandes is on people’s radar because every week he plays his heart out, he is by far the best player on the football pitch from a Saints perspective,” Tessem told the BBC.

“He is becoming an ultimate Premier League midfielder and clubs are not going to let that go.

“He plays like a Premier League player. He passes like a Premier League player. He is quick like a Premier League player. He conducts himself so well in midfield.”

Who should Man United sign in midfield?

United will be bidding farewell to Casemiro once his contract expires this summer, while they could also do with replacing the out-of-favour Manuel Ugarte.

Two new midfielders are surely a must for this MUFC squad, and fans would likely be happy with the investment in a top young talent like Fernandes.

We’ve previously ranked United’s midfield targets, with Sky Sports still mentioning other big names like Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba being on the club’s list.

Anderson looks like he’d be the dream addition right now, but Sky suggest Manchester City looks more likely for the Nottingham Forest and England midfielder.

Wharton and Baleba are two other fine young talents, but Fernandes could be the way to go for United if they want to avoid a long-drawn-out saga, with West Ham’s likely relegation surely making it a simpler and more affordable deal to get done.

The Uruguayan international, long considered a cornerstone of the Madrid midfield, has found himself increasingly isolated in the Spanish capital following a high-profile training ground bust-up with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.

Manchester United monitoring Federico Valverde situation at Real Madrid

The fallout from the confrontation has sent shockwaves through the Bernabéu.

Despite Valverde being a vice-captain and a fan favorite, the report from The Mirror claims that the incident has fractured his relationship with the club’s hierarchy as well as his teammates.

Although the midfielder issued a public statement and an apology, club bosses remain furious over the breach of discipline.

The report further adds that, some senior figures in the Real Madrid dressing room have also sided with Tchouaméni.

Manchester United are said to be keeping close tabs on the situation, ready to pounce on the rare opportunity to sign a world-class operator at the peak of his powers.

Valverde would transform Manchester United’s midfield

If Manchester United were able to pull off a deal for Valverde, it could prove to be one of the statement signings of the summer.

The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most complete midfielders thanks to his energy, ball-carrying ability, defensive intensity and versatility across midfield roles.

With Casemiro expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season and uncertainty surrounding Manuel Ugarte’s future, United are expected to prioritise midfield reinforcements.

Valverde’s profile appears tailor-made for the Premier League and could provide the athleticism and drive Manchester United’s midfield has often lacked in recent seasons.

A potential midfield trio of Kobbie Mainoo, Federico Valverde and Bruno Fernandes would undoubtedly excite supporters and could quickly become one of the strongest combinations in the league.

James Maddison risks FA punishment after what he posted on Instagram following Leeds controversy

James Maddison has risked potential disciplinary action from the FA after calling out the officiating and VAR’s failure to award Tottenham a penalty during their 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

The midfielder, making his long-awaited return from an ACL injury, was at the heart of a controversial stoppage-time incident that could have significantly altered Spurs’ survival prospects.

James Maddison slams ‘petrified’ referees on Instagram

The incident occurred in the 103rd minute when Maddison went down in the box following a challenge from Leeds striker Lukas Nmecha.

While the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium rose to demand a spot-kick, the referee waved away the appeals, a decision subsequently upheld by VAR on the grounds that Nmecha had played the ball.

Taking to Instagram, Maddison has now posted a screenshot of the incident to provide his own “clarity” on the touch.

Uploading a picture of a zoomed in snapshot of Nmecha fouling him, Maddison posted the following caption:

“For clarity, the small tiny touch on the ball to change direction came from the outside of my right foot not Nmecha and I told the ref that but the check was over in about 20 seconds. Officials are petrified to make decisions on pitch now because of VAR. We keep fighting. COYS.”

FA could take action against Maddison for questioning official integrity

Maddison’s choice of words, specifically labeling officials as ‘petrified’ is likely to land him in hot water with the FA.

The FA’s rules regarding comments are strict, particularly concerning posts that imply bias or attack the integrity of match officials.

While Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi refrained from direct criticism of the VAR decision, noting only that Gillett was “not calm,” Maddison’s more direct comments presents a different problem for the league.

With only two games remaining in the season, a potential fine or touchline ban for their star playmaker is the last thing Tottenham need as they battle to secure their Premier League status.

VAR audio released: Referee ignored “Trossard on Pablo” warning in Arsenal’s controversial win over West Ham

The PGMOL has released the full audio and transcript from the dramatic final moments of Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over West Ham, sparking a fresh wave of debate over the consistency of VAR.

The footage reveals a tense exchange between referee Chris Kavanagh, VAR Darren England, and Assistant VAR Akil Howson regarding a disallowed 95th-minute equaliser from Callum Wilson.

VAR audio reveals disagreement over Arsenal vs West Ham disallowed goal

As the officials scrutinised the goal at the monitor, the audio captures AVAR Akil Howson repeatedly raising concerns about Leandro Trossard’s actions toward West Ham’s Pablo Fornals.

While the VAR team initially focused on Pablo Fornals allegedly holding Raya’s arm, Howson pointed to a possible earlier or simultaneous foul by Trossard.

“You’ve got Declan Rice and you’ve got [Leandro] Trossard,” Howson said during the review (transcript via Daily Mail).

Referee Chris Kavanagh responded: “I don’t know what you’re trying to show me, give me a clue.”

After being asked to assess a potential shove by Trossard on Fornals, Kavanagh dismissed the incident, stating: ‘I don’t think there’s much in that at all, I’m happy with that.’

The officials also reviewed a possible foul by Declan Rice on Konstantinos Mavropanos, but the focus remained on the goalkeeper challenge. Kavanagh ultimately concluded: ‘But the foul happens on the goalkeeper before.’

Howard Webb defends referee decision in Arsenal vs West Ham incident

The officials came under fire after the game, with ‘West Ham boss claiming that even the referees don’t know what’s a foul‘.

But PGMOL chief Howard Webb defended the process on Match Officials Mic’d Up, insisting the clear and obvious error was the hold on Raya’s arm.

He said: “Is it a foul on the goalkeeper? Categorically, yes.

“We’ve said all season, including in pre-season briefings with the players, that if a goalkeeper is impeded by an opponent grabbing or holding their arms and therefore they can’t do their job, they’ll be penalised.

“We’re not just talking about contact with goalkeepers, we’re talking about a specific type of contact when the goalkeeper’s arms or hands are being interfered with, stopping them doing their job.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

“A key player in this moment, of course, is the goalkeeper, who has got a unique ability to use his hands. And in what we see in this situation, different to the other situations around the penalty area is that the goalkeeper can’t do that job because of that very clear action by the attacker, preventing him from putting his arm up.

“He is being held as well from behind by [Jean-Clair] Todibo. There are other pieces of contact from other players, from Arsenal players too, but the most significant contact undoubtedly is that on the goalkeeper.

Stops him from doing something pretty routine of catching the ball. The arm’s across the neck, it’s on his arm. He can’t put his arms up, and we’ve said that we’ll penalise that. And we’ve been consistent in that particular aspect.”

While Webb praised the officials for their process, the leaked audio suggests a division within the VAR room, with Howson’s warnings about Trossard’s shove ultimately being dismissed by the man in the middle.

Ben Jacobs drops fresh Ederson to Manchester United transfer update amid ‘agreed deal’ claims

Manchester United have identified Atalanta’s midfield engine Ederson as a ‘genuine target’ this summer as they look to bolster their midfield.

Jacobs downplays “agreed deal” rumors but confirms genuine interest

Despite growing excitement among the United faithful, respected journalist Ben Jacobs has moved to clarify the current state of play.

Taking to X, Jacobs provided an update. While the interest is concrete, the deal is not yet at the finish line.

He said: “Ederson and Manchester United remains one to watch. However, suggestions of Ederson agreeing terms or Manchester United placing a bid are currently premature, as revealed on @talkSPORT last month.

“Ederson one of several genuine targets as Manchester United prepare to sign at least two midfielders. However, Atalanta’s asking price is viewed as high given Ederson only has a year left on his contract.”

Jacobs’ update comes after it was reported that United have made a move for the midfielder.

Italian journalist Moretto recently revealed that the Red Devils have made the most significant move, reportedly offering a better financial package than other suitors.

For United, the more difficult task will be to agree a fee with the Italian club.

Despite Ederson entering the final twelve months of his contract, a situation that usually lowers a player’s market value, Atalanta are reportedly holding out for a premium fee.

Midfield reinforcements expected at Old Trafford

The pursuit of Ederson is part of a much larger blueprint. Manchester United are reportedly preparing to sign at least two midfielders during this window, signaling a clear intent to move on from the aging profiles currently in the squad.

Newcastle United were heavily linked with James Trafford at the start of the season, but Manchester City ended up signing him.

James Trafford on his lack of game time

Trafford has revealed that he’s trying to make the most of any opportunities that come his way, but he is not best pleased with being a squad player. He wants to play more often, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle is prepared to make a move for him.

He said (h/t Shields Gazette): “It has obviously been very up and down throughout the season because I haven’t played too much and obviously I had a decision to make in the summer.

“Even linking to this season, one of the things I have found hard because I haven’t played, as in playing games as much as I have wanted to.

“The whole thing, for me, is just enjoying playing and trying as hard as you can to win. I am playing well, it has been really good fun. It feels lovely, I really enjoy playing and whenever I do play I try and really enjoy myself.”

Newcastle keen on Trafford

According to a report from the Shields Gazette, they remain interested in signing the 23-year-old goalkeeper in the summer. They need a quality long-term replacement for Nick Pope, and Trafford could prove to be an exceptional acquisition. He was outstanding in the championship with Burnley last season, and he has the quality to play regularly at a high level in the Premier League as well.

Moving to Newcastle could be ideal for him. Regular football could bring out the best in the player and help him cement his place in the England national team.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester City is willing to sanction his departure in the summer. They have a world-class goalkeeper in Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Trafford will struggle for regular opportunities next season as well. Sitting on the bench at Manchester City does not make any sense, and he should look to move on in the summer.

If Newcastle can provide him with gametime assurance, it could be the ideal move for him. They have quality players and an ambitious project; Trafford could be pushing for trophies with them.

Moises Caicedo’s latest off-field move may have Chelsea fans worried about his future

Moises Caicedo may have fans worried about his future

For the Chelsea faithful, news of a star player changing agents often serves as a primary indicator of impending transfer drama.

Agency switches are frequently orchestrated to facilitate a move, whether to secure a more lucrative contract elsewhere or to open doors with specific European giants.

Given that Caicedo only recently committed his long-term future to Stamford Bridge, this administrative shift feels premature.

The move to CAA Base, an agency with a massive global footprint and deep connections in the Premier League and La Liga, may indicate that the midfielder’s camp is positioning him for the next phase of his career, even if that phase is years away.

In a period of relative instability and squad transition at Chelsea, fans are understandably wary of anything that might destabilize one of their most expensive assets.

Real Madrid have been long interested in Caicedo

Adding fuel to the fire is the persistent shadow of Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have been long-term admirers of Caicedo.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Los Blancos are known for their strategic long-term planning in midfield, and with aging legends eventually making way, Caicedo has often been mentioned as a dream profile for the Bernabéu hierarchy.

View: Caicedo unlikely to leave Chelsea in the short term

Despite the inevitable speculation, it is important to maintain perspective. Caicedo is unlikely to leave Chelsea in the short term having just signed a massive eight-year deal.

The contract structure at Chelsea provides the club with immense leverage; any potential suitor would have to offer a fee significantly higher than the £115 million Chelsea paid to even get the board to the table.

While the agency switch may be a strategic play for his future image rights or long-term career management, the ink is still very fresh on his current deal.

For now, Caicedo remains an important piece of the Chelsea project, though the Real Madrid links will have fans watching his every move with a little more anxiety than before.

Leeds want a new deal for Ethan Ampadu

There have been rumours linking him with a move away from the club, but Leeds United are hoping to tie him down to a new deal. According to a report from The Leeds Press, they are expected to open talks over a new contract with the player as soon as the season ends.

Meanwhile, Adam Crafton from The Athletic has now fuelled further speculations surrounding the future of the Leeds United star by claiming that the Whites would do well to keep him at the club beyond this season.

Crafton wrote on X: “At the risk of upsetting some Leeds fans, I think they’ll do very well to keep Ampadu this summer. So consistent.”

Leeds must keep Ampadu

Leeds United need to keep their best players if they want to establish themselves as regulars in the Premier League. They cannot afford to sell one of their best players in the summer. Ampadu has been an indispensable asset for them, and Leeds must do everything in their power to convince him to stay at the club.

The player has just one year left on his current contract, and the Whites must sort out the situation quickly. Multiple clubs will be monitoring his situation, and it would be quite unsurprising if there are offers for him in the summer.

Leeds need to plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window, but keeping their key players will be just as important. The fans will hold onto their best players beyond this season.

Leeds looking to sign 10-goal star after “terrific season” in the Premier League

Leeds United are interested in signing the Burnley striker Zian Flemming.

According to Football Insider, they are hoping to take advantage of Burnley’s relegation and sign the 27-year-old striker.

Despite Burnley’s struggles in the Premier League, Flemming has found the back of the net 10 times.

Leeds want Zian Flemming

“Zian Flemming is a target for Leeds,” Mick Brown told Football Insider.

“It’s not anything new, they’re not only having a look now that Burnley have gone down, they’ve had scouts keeping an eye on him throughout the season.

“He’s had a terrific season, ten goals in the Premier League is nothing to be sniffed at, so he has impressed the clubs who have been watching him.”

He could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Leeds United. They need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and the 27-year-old could be attracted to the idea of joining them.

He will not want to compete in the second division next season. Leeds could provide him with the platform to compete in the Premier League again. He is at the peak of his career, and he will want to compete at the highest level.

Leeds United will be hoping to sign him for a reasonable fee.

Leeds to replace Piroe with Flemming?

Meanwhile, Football Insider reports that Leeds United Scouts have been watching the player closely throughout the season and believe he could be an excellent addition. Joel Piroe is expected to leave the club in the summer, and Flemming could be the ideal replacement.

It will be interesting to see whether Burnley is willing to sell the player for a reasonable price. It will be difficult for them to hold onto quality players, especially in the Championship. It does not make sense for them to hold onto the player if he wants to move on, and it would be ideal for them to cash in on Flemming.

Arsenal player may have played his final game for the club as Romano drops update

Arsenal’s hopes for a historic double have been dealt a significant blow with the news that defender Ben White has been ruled out for the remainder three games and perhaps beyond.

White suffered the injury during Arsenal’s tense 1-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, a match that ended in controversy after a late Callum Wilson equalizer was chalked off by VAR for a foul on David Raya, allowing the Gunners to escape with all three points.

Renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared the news, confirming the severity of the defender’s condition.

Reporting on X, Romano stated:

“Ben White will be OUT of Champions League final and missing upcoming games for Arsenal until end of the season. Knee injury will keep White out and more tests will confirm if he can be in World Cup squad or not. Get well soon!”

The club later confirmed that White has sustained medial ligament damage. The timing is particularly cruel for the 28-year-old, who has been a pillar of Mikel Arteta’s defence this season.

Beyond missing the climax of the domestic and European season, White now faces a race against time to prove his fitness for England’s upcoming World Cup campaign, with further medical assessments scheduled for later this week.

Arsenal are three wins away from winning historic double

The loss of White comes at the most critical time of the season. Arsenal are currently on the verge of footballing immortality, sitting just three wins away from securing a Premier League and Champions League double.

With two matches remaining in the league, the Gunners lead the table but have no room for error. If both Arsenal and Man City win their remaining games, Mikel Arteta’s side will be crowned the Premier League champions.

Following the conclusion of the league season, they travel to Budapest on May 30 to face PSG  in the Champions League final at the Puskás Aréna.

White may have played his final game for Arsenal

With White linked with a summer exit, he may have played his final game for the Gunners.

The Gunners are looking to make changes on the right as per reports, with Tino Livramento  seen as an option to replace White.

Everton are showing interest in signing him while Newcastle have also been linked with the 28-year-old.

Given that he is likely to leave this summer, he may have played his final game for the club.

“I wasn’t best pleased”: Newcastle star admits he wasn’t happy with Howe decision

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall returned to the starting lineup against Nottingham Forest after missing out against Arsenal and Brighton.

He was named on the bench against both teams, but Eddie Howe decided to bring him back into the fold against Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old has now revealed that he is delighted to return to action, and he wasn’t pleased with the manager’s decision to drop him against Arsenal and Brighton.

Lewis Hall on being dropped

He said (h/t Shields Gazette): “I was very happy to be back in the team. I think any player never wants to be on the bench. I think it goes without saying I wasn’t best pleased but, like I said, everyone goes through their moments in football. It’s just about how you deal with them. I was back in the team today, so I was happy.”

The 21-year-old has had an impressive season with Newcastle, and he is clearly one of the best players at the club right now. Newcastle will need to play him regularly in order to keep him happy.

Hall has been linked with multiple clubs in recent months, and Newcastle cannot afford to upset him. He is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he could develop into a top-class player for the Magpies. They need to keep players like him at the club if they want to build a team capable of fighting for trophies.

There have been rumours that the player could leave for £70 million in the summer.

Hall on his versatility

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old left back was deployed in the right back role against Nottingham Forest. He has revealed that he is comfortable on either flank and happy to help the team wherever required.

“I’ve moved there a couple of times during the game and stuff,” he said. “The gaffer put me there in training a few times this week. I’d like to think I’m comfortable with both sides, to be fair, so I’m happy to.”

It has been a disappointing season for Newcastle, and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly next season. They were expected to push for Champions League qualification, but it seems like they will have to settle for a mid-table finish.

Man United interested in Lucca Benetton

According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United are hoping to sign the talented young goalkeeper in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

Benetton could be excited about the possibility of joining Manchester United in the summer. They are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and they have an impressive track record of grooming young players. They could help him fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.

The 15-year-old could develop into a quality goalkeeper with the right guidance. Manchester United could help him improve further.

Where will Benetton end up?

The talented goalkeeper needs to join a club with a clear development plan and a pathway to the first team. He must seek assurance of gametime from Manchester United before making the move. He is likely to join up with the youth team at Old Trafford if the move goes through. However, Manchester United will need to monitor his development carefully.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace are hoping to keep him at the club for the long term. They do not want to lose a promising young player like Benetton.

Manchester United certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done, and convincing the 15-year-old will not be difficult for them either. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Arsenal and Chelsea battle for €50m wonderkid but Real Madrid hold advantage

Jacobo Ramon has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

The 21-year-old central defender has done quite well for the Italian club Como, and he is highly rated across Europe.

Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in signing the player, according to a report from Sports Boom. However, Real Madrid has a buy-back clause (€8m), which will complicate any potential move by Premier League clubs. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will sign him in the summer.

Como would prefer to sell him for a fee of €45-50 million in the summer. Arsenal and Chelsea certainly have the financial muscle to pay a premium.

Ramon will be excited about the possibility of competing in the Premier League. It would be a step up in his career. However, he should look to join a club where he can play regularly.

Joining Arsenal might not be ideal for him. They have tremendous depth in the defensive unit, and the 21-year-old Spanish defender could struggle for regular opportunities. At Chelsea, he could be one of the first names on the sheet. They have been quite vulnerable this season, and they need to tighten up at the back. The defender would be ideal for them.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops. The player has the qualities to thrive in the Premier League, and he could develop into a top-class defender with the right guidance. He will look to sort out his long-term future quickly and focus on his football.

The opportunity to return to his boyhood club, Real Madrid, could be tempting for him, and the Spanish giants clearly have an advantage in the race.

Man United eye 24-year-old Serie A star who adds a new threat from set pieces

Manchester United are looking to sign the AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic at the end of the season, according to reports from Gazzetta.

The central defender has done quite well for the Italian outfit, and he has been one of the best defenders in the league this season. The 24-year-old could prove to be an excellent long-term acquisition for Manchester United.

They need a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire, and the Serbian international would be ideal. Apart from his impressive defensive performances. The AC Milan star has scored five goals this season. He could add a new dimension to Manchester United’s attack on set pieces.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League could be exciting for him. It would be a step up in his career, and he would get to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Manchester United have secured Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign, and they will look to fight for major trophies. They have the resources to get the deal done, and they are likely to be an attractive option for most players this summer.

Milan paid around €18 million to sign the player, and they will look to make a substantial profit. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise an agreement.

Convincing the player to join Manchester United will not be difficult, and they will look to wrap up the move quickly. They need to improve multiple areas of the squad this summer if they want to close the gap with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Improving defensively will be a priority for them. Apart from a central defender, they need a left back and a quality defensive midfielder as well.

Arsenal eye 29-G/A superstar who could transform them, but PSG could scupper their plans

Arsenal are interested in signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, but they will face competition from PSG and Barcelona.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, PSG manager, Luis Enrique, has urged the club hierarchy to sign the 26-year-old striker in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can act quickly in order to win the race for his signature.

Atletico Madrid will demand around £100 million to sell the player. The 26-year-old World Cup winner has been exceptional for the Spanish club, and there is no doubt that he could transform Arsenal in the attack. Alvarez has 20 goals and 9 assists this season.

The Gunners have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to join the club. They are well placed to win the Premier League title this season and are also in the final of the UEFA Champions League. They will be hoping to beat PSG in the final of the European competition, and then beat them to the signing of Alvarez.

If they can sign the 2022 World Cup winner, it could transform their attack. They need a reliable striker who can consistently find the back of the net and create opportunities in the final third. They invested a substantial sum in Viktor Gyokeres during the summer transfer window, and he has scored 20 goals across all competitions. However, he is inconsistent with his goal-scoring, and his overall football ability leaves a lot to be desired.

Alvarez is a more complete forward and could help create opportunities for his teammates, not just find the back of the net. He is also lethal from set pieces, and he could add a new dimension to the Arsenal attack.

Aston Villa lead race for “blue-chip” attacker wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool

Aston Villa are hoping to sign the AS Roma attacker Matias Soule at the end of the season.

According to a report from Sports Boom, the player could cost around €40 million, and Aston Villa are front-runners to get the deal done.

They will face competition from clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton. Aston Villa certainly have the financial muscle to pay the asking price for him, and Soule could prove to be an excellent long-term investment. He can operate on the flanks as well as centrally. He will add goals and creativity to the team.

Soule has 7 goals and 8 assists this season. They have been overly dependent on Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins. They need more support in the attack, especially if they secure Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign.

The Argentine attacker will be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League. It would be a step up for him, and he would get to test at the highest level. If the West Midlands club end up securing Champions League qualification, they will be an attractive destination for players.

Aston will review the player as a “blue-chip” investment, and they believe that he could dominate the league in future.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring his situation as well. It will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for the 23-year-old in the summer. Arsenal need more quality in the final third and an upgrade on players like Noni Madueke.

On the other hand, Liverpool will lose Mohammed Salah in the summer, and they need more cutting edge on the flanks. The South American could be a very handy option for them.

Tottenham enter race for 27-G/A star available through special release clause

Serhou Guirassy has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

Multiple Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 30-year-old, and he could cost around €50 million. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all beneficiaries of a special clause in his contract that will allow him to join elite clubs for a set fee.

For any other interested club, they would have to negotiate with the German club, and the German club could demand a significantly higher transfer fee.

According to a report from FussballDaten, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him, and they view him as a serious option for next season. They are looking to bring in a clinical finisher with physicality, and they believe the star would be ideal.

The Italian clubs AC Milan and Juventus are also interested in signing the player.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an official offer to get the deal done. Even though the 30-year-old might not be a long-term option for them, he could transform the attacking unit at the north London club in the short term and help them bounce back strongly next year.

They need quality and experience in order to compete with the top club once again. They have been quite disappointing this season, and they are fighting for survival in the Premier League. They will look to return to the Champions League and fight for trophies once again.

Signing the 30-year-old striker from the German club could be a wise decision. Guirassy has 21 goals and six assists this season.

The player could also be tempted to take on a new challenge. He has consistently shown his quality in Germany, and this could be the right time for him to take the next step.

Chelsea hold positive talks to land ‘incredible’ Liverpool target in summer

Xabi Alonso has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, and Chelsea are interested in him.

They are looking to bring in a quality replacement for Liam Rosenior, and the Spanish manager could be an interesting option. He has shown his quality in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, helping them win the league title.

He was shown the door by Real Madrid earlier this season, but he did a reasonably good job with them. There is no doubt that he is a talented manager with a bright future, and he could prove to be an excellent addition for Chelsea.

According to a report from GMS, Chelsea have now held positive talks with the manager’s representatives, and he is open to joining a Premier League club. He is thought to be on Liverpool’s radar as well.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool is willing to sack Arne Slot and bring their former midfielder in as a replacement. It has been a disappointing season for Liverpool, and they need a change. Appointing Alonso as their next manager could be a wise decision.

Apart from being a quality manager, he knows the club well and is highly rated by the fans. His appointment would be welcomed by the Liverpool faithful.

Slot has clearly lost the trust of the fanbase, and it would be ideal for Liverpool to part ways with him.

Chelsea are now looking to bring in a manager before the World Cup begins, and it remains to be seen whether they can finalise an agreement with the 44-year-old in the coming weeks.

The opportunity to manage Chelsea or Liverpool will be exciting for Alonso. He has been hailed as “incredible” by Pep Guardiola.

€100 million winger is high on Liverpool shortlist as Reds target pre-World Cup agreement

Liverpool’s forward planning for the next era could lead them towards one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young attackers, with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande continuing to attract major attention across Europe.

The 19-year-old Ivorian has enjoyed a rapid rise since moving to Germany, and his explosive performances have made him a player of serious interest for clubs looking to refresh their attacking options.

With Liverpool expected to reshape their frontline in the coming windows, Diomande’s name naturally stands out, according to TEAMtalk.

He has pace, directness, strong one-v-one ability and the confidence to influence matches at a high level despite his age.

Yan Diomande has caught the attention of big clubs

Diomande joined RB Leipzig in July 2025 and is contracted to the Bundesliga club until 2030, giving Leipzig a strong position in any future negotiations.

His numbers help explain the excitement. FotMob credits Diomande with 12 goals and seven assists in the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, while Bundesliga’s official profile lists him as a 19-year-old RB Leipzig forward with Ivory Coast nationality.

That level of production from a teenager in one of Europe’s strongest leagues is exactly why his valuation has climbed so quickly.

One of his standout moments came against Eintracht Frankfurt, when he scored a second-half hat-trick in Leipzig’s 6-0 victory.

Reuters reported that Diomande completed the treble in just 18 minutes, becoming the second-youngest player to score a Bundesliga hat-trick. That kind of performance underlined his ability to decide games, not just contribute in flashes.

Signing the Ivorian makes sense for Liverpool

For Liverpool, Diomande would represent a bold but logical signing. The Reds have built much of their modern success around wide forwards who can stretch defences, press with energy and provide regular goal output.

Diomande is still developing, but his profile fits the type of dynamic attacker Liverpool have often admired.

With Mohamed Salah leaving the club, Diomande has become a priority target for the Reds.

There would, however, be obvious risks. A fee close to €100 million would place huge pressure on a player still early in his senior career.

Leipzig are also known for developing elite young talent and selling only when the price is right, meaning Liverpool would have to be decisive and financially aggressive to make a deal happen.

Liverpool look towards rival Premier League goalkeeper to replace club legend Alisson

Liverpool could be heading into a significant goalkeeping decision this summer, with Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez emerging as a possible target if Alisson Becker leaves Anfield.

The Brazilian has been one of Liverpool’s most influential players since arriving from Roma in 2018, but fresh reports claim Juventus are pushing to bring him to Serie A.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are assessing Martinez as part of their contingency planning, with the Reds aware that Alisson is entering the final year of his contract.

Juventus’ interest has added urgency to the situation, and Liverpool appear unwilling to be caught unprepared if their long-serving No.1 decides to move on.

Alisson Becker could be heading out of Liverpool

Alisson’s importance to Liverpool cannot be overstated. Since joining the club, he has played a crucial role in their Champions League and Premier League triumphs, combining elite shot-stopping with calm distribution and leadership from the back.

However, the situation around his future has become more delicate, with talkSPORT reporting that Juventus have made him a key target while Liverpool face pressure to keep hold of an experienced figure during a period of squad change.

That is where Martinez enters the picture. The Argentina international has built a strong reputation at Aston Villa, not only through his Premier League performances but also through his success with Argentina, including the 2022 World Cup.

His personality, command of the penalty area and ability to perform in high-pressure moments would make him a natural candidate for a club of Liverpool’s size.

From Liverpool’s perspective, Martinez would bring immediate experience rather than a long-term project.

Reds have identified Martinez as Alisson’s replacement

At 33, he would not be a signing for the distant future, but he could offer the authority and winning mentality needed if Alisson departs. That may appeal to a Liverpool side that still wants to compete at the highest level while managing a wider rebuild.

Villa, meanwhile, would not be expected to let Martinez leave easily. He has been one of the defining players of their rise under Unai Emery, and losing him would create a major gap.

Reports have suggested that Villa are looking at Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford as a possible replacement if Martinez moves on, showing that they may already be preparing for different outcomes.

Carragher explains on MNF why Arsenal are “disliked” following VAR controversy

Arsenal’s tense 1-0 win over West Ham has added another major talking point to an already dramatic Premier League title race.

Leandro Trossard’s late goal looked to have secured a crucial victory for Mikel Arteta’s side, but the match exploded into controversy deep into stoppage time when Callum Wilson appeared to equalise for the Hammers.

After a lengthy VAR review, referee Chris Kavanagh overturned the goal, ruling that Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya had been fouled in the build-up.

The decision protected Arsenal’s lead, kept them five points clear of Manchester City, and sparked fierce debate over whether the correct call had been made.

Carragher shares opinion on latest Arsenal controversy

Jamie Carragher offered a strong view on the controversy during his Sky Sports analysis.

The former Liverpool defender argued that Arsenal are not necessarily treated differently by officials, but he believes they have developed a reputation for pushing the limits in several areas of the game.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Carragher said Arsenal’s aggressive approach to set-pieces, touchline behaviour and penalty-box battles has made rival fans feel they regularly “get away with it”.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said, as reported by The Standard:

“This all started with Arsenal two or three seasons ago putting 15 players in a six yard box and the reason people are annoyed with Arsenal, and feel they’ve got away with it, is that this is a football club who push the boundaries in every area to try and gain an advantage – that’s why they are disliked.

“The manager stands on the edge of the touchline, putting the opposition’s left wing or right back off, screaming down his ear. Gabriel going down on the floor anytime someone breaths on him.

“The goalkeeper being the first one to take the atmosphere in a stadium to another degree and what they do at set pieces. That’s why there’s this feeling ‘they do it every week, how are they getting away with it’. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a foul.”

Arteta is getting closer to league title

Arteta, unsurprisingly, defended the officials and praised the referee for making what he saw as a brave decision under huge pressure. West Ham, meanwhile, were left furious after believing they had earned a valuable point.

Arsenal may view the West Ham win as another sign of champions finding a way through difficult moments, but the controversy will not disappear quickly.

Arsenal are admired for their intensity and detail, yet disliked by many rivals for the way they test the boundaries, as per Carragher.

What matters most for Arteta is the result. With only two league games remaining, Arsenal remain in control of their title destiny.

But if they do go on to lift the Premier League trophy, this dramatic VAR escape at the London Stadium may be remembered as one of the defining moments of their season.

Gary Neville issues important advise to Mikel Arteta ahead of the Champions League final

Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has offered a definitive tactical roadmap for Arsenal.

Neville expressed immense confidence that Mikel Arteta’s men will arrive as newly crowned champions of England, ending a 22-year domestic drought.

However, overcoming reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain represents an entirely different caliber of test.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

While Neville candidly admits that Luis Enrique’s star-studded PSG are currently the “better side” on paper, he insists Arsenal can still conquer the continent if they strictly lean into their elite defensive ability and sheer physical strength.

Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, Neville analysed the contrasting fortunes of the two finalists.

PSG arrive in Budapest with formidable pedigree, aiming to secure back-to-back Champions League titles after ruthlessly dismantling Inter Milan 5-0 in last year’s final.

Acknowledging the undeniable technical supremacy of the French giants over the past two seasons, Neville emphasised that Arsenal cannot afford to engage in an open, end-to-end shootout.

Neville has told Arteta to play defensive football

Instead, the Gunners must approach the 90 minutes with absolute pragmatism, utilising their rock-solid defensive organisation to frustrate PSG’s lethal attacking patterns.

“Arsenal have got such momentum now,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast.

“They beat Atletico Madrid, watched Man City drop points at Everton and then winning at West Ham in that way.

“Winning it that way is far more special that winning the game 3-0, you’d love to win games easily but those type of results build confidence, resilience and momentum.

“The Arsenal players should be in dreamland now, they should be unstoppable, nothing should be able to stop them now.

“In the Champions League final they need to think about their defensive ability and strength and think how they can over 90 minutes beat a team who are better than them.

“Because PSG are better than them, you can’t get away from that. PSG are a better team than Arsenal right now and they’ve demonstrated that over the last two seasons.”

Arsenal face their biggest test in decades

There is no doubt that this is going to be Arsenal’s biggest test in recent history.

Winning the biggest honour in club football is something they are desperately looking at and it is a trophy that they have not won in their illustrious history.

Arteta now has the opportunity to win it, along with winning the Premier League as well.

This could be the greatest season in Arsenal’s history if they complete the double.

While in the Premier League they are the favourites, in the Champions League, they are clearly the underdogs.

According to Daily Mirror, standout full-back Jurrien Timber is locked in a desperate race against time to prove his fitness for the European showpiece.

The Dutchman has struggled for fitness in the last few weeks and his absence is expected to be a major worry for Arteta and his staff.

Timber has struggled with fitness issues recently

Sidelined since March 14 due to a persistent groin issue, the 24-year-old Dutch international is approaching a definitive “make or break” week in his rehabilitation.

Timber’s potential availability could ultimately dictate Arsenal’s tactical approach as they seek to claim the ultimate prize in club football.

The timing of Timber’s absence is particularly agonising given the sheer scale of his contributions this season.

Prior to his setback, the versatile defender had firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s premier full-backs, offering elite 1v1 defensive security and exceptional composure in possession.

Complicating matters for Arteta is the sudden, severe depletion of his options at right-back.

Arteta will be short of options at right-back

Ben White sustained a suspected knee ligament injury during the London derby against West Ham United, leaving the Gunners critically short of natural, top-tier cover on the right flank.

Awaiting Arsenal in the final is a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain side who have Khvicha Kvaratskhelia playing on the left-wing for them and considering his form and talent, the Gunners would need their right-back to be at the top of his game.

Should Timber’s intensive training push fail to produce positive results this week, Arteta will be forced into an emergency tactical reshuffle against one of the most lethal attacking units on the continent.

While Arsenal remain entirely focused on navigating their final two Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace to seal domestic glory, Arteta will have one eye on the final against PSG.

Overhaul at Old Trafford: Man United plan for major summer rebuild has emerged

With Champions League football officially secured for next season, Manchester United are wasting no time laying the foundations for a massive summer window.

The Red Devils hierarchy are preparing to execute a comprehensive squad overhaul, targeting a minimum of five key acquisitions during the upcoming transfer window, according to The Sun.

Old Trafford decision-makers have mapped out a precise structural blueprint: bringing in three central midfielders, a dependable left-back, and a dynamic back-up striker.

This aggressive push shows the club’s unwavering ambition to equip interim manager Michael Carrick, or his eventual permanent successor, with a squad capable of competing on multiple elite fronts.

Man United are planning major changes this summer

The decision to heavily prioritise the engine room is born out of absolute tactical necessity.

The looming departure of veteran midfielder Casemiro, whose contract expires in the coming weeks, leaves a void in physical authority and defensive screen protection.

United are casting a wide net to completely revamp their central options.

Nottingham Forest’s standout talent Elliot Anderson has emerged as the club’s leading domestic target, alongside highly advanced tracking of Atalanta’s all-action Brazilian dynamo Ederson.

By aiming to sign three distinct midfield profiles, the recruitment team intends to build a highly adaptable, modern unit that provides the perfect platform for homegrown sensation Kobbie Mainoo to thrive.

Red Devils are planning to strengthen their defense

Availability issues on the left side of the defense have continuously disrupted United’s backline, making a durable, top-tier left-back a non-negotiable target to provide long-term stability.

Meanwhile, signing a high-quality back-up striker is essential to ease the immense goal-scoring burden that Benjamin Sesko faces at the club.

Following the highly successful blueprint of previous windows, sporting directors are focused on landing prime-age, scalable assets who offer long-term stability.

To finance this multi-million-pound spending spree, Old Trafford executives are prepared to be just as ruthless with outgoings, potential big-money departures of figures like Manuel Ugarte, or even high-profile sales of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund, could provide the vital financial windfall needed to balance the books under strict Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Sources: Man City have Brazilian defender on radar but Barca & Real Madrid stand in their way

As the Serie A campaign moves towards its final stretch, AS Roma may already be facing one of the biggest transfer battles of the summer.

Brazilian right-back Wesley has rapidly become one of the most talked-about defenders in Europe, with clubs from England and Spain now monitoring his situation closely, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Among the top clubs closely monitoring the Brazilian, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the most prominent ones, looking to sign the talented Serie A star.

Roma signed Wesley from Flamengo in July 2025, confirming the deal as a permanent transfer, while reports at the time suggested the package was worth around €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

The 22-year-old has since developed into an important figure in the Italian capital, and his rise has not gone unnoticed.

Wesley is high in demand ahead of summer window

Wesley’s appeal is easy to understand. Modern elite clubs no longer look at full-backs simply as defenders. They want players who can recover quickly, carry the ball, press aggressively, defend one-v-one situations and contribute in advanced areas.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Wesley fits that profile. His time in Serie A has also helped sharpen the tactical side of his game, with Roma giving him a platform to prove he can handle a more disciplined defensive environment after coming through at Flamengo.

According to Transfermarkt, Wesley is under contract with Roma until June 2030, which gives the Italian club a strong negotiating position.

His market value is currently listed at €40 million, but recent reports suggest Roma could demand significantly more if Europe’s biggest clubs make formal approaches.

Interest from the Premier League appears particularly strong. Man City, Newcastle United have all been impressed by Wesley, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked.

Man City are targeting the Brazilian full-back

For Man City, Wesley would make sense as part of a long-term refresh at full-back.

Pep Guardiola has often valued defenders who can play multiple roles in possession, and Wesley’s energy and technical confidence could suit that demand.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have the financial strength to compete if they decide to make the Brazilian a priority.

Spanish interest adds more excitement to the transfer saga. Real Madrid have built strong recruitment links in Brazil over recent years, while Barcelona are always alert to technically gifted full-backs, even if their financial limitations could complicate any move.

Roma are not under pressure to sell, and Wesley’s long contract means any deal would likely require a major offer.

However, his pace, defensive growth and attacking promise have made him one of the most attractive young right-backs in Europe. With Premier League clubs circling and Spain’s biggest sides watching closely, Wesley’s future could be away from the Serie A.

Just In: Liverpool face competition from Premier League rivals for Jarrod Bowen

West Ham United find themselves fighting a desperate battle on two fronts: securing top-flight survival on the pitch and fending off circling suitors in the boardroom.

According to Daily Mail, a high-stakes transfer scramble is actively developing over Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen.

Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Everton have all registered strong interest in prying the 29-year-old England international away from East London.

Sources reveal that even if West Ham manage to claw their way to safety in the final two games of the campaign, Bowen could still be allowed to depart this summer for a fee in the region of £60 million.

Jarrod Bowen is attracting attention from top clubs

Bowen’s widespread appeal across the division comes as no surprise.

Since arriving at the London Stadium from Hull City in 2020 for an initial £22 million, the industrious forward has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent and lethal wide operators.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Racking up 84 goals across 278 total appearances for the club, including his immortalised match-winner in the 2023 Europa Conference League final, Bowen’s elite work rate, exceptional close control, and clinical cutting edge make him a highly coveted asset.

Each of his three domestic suitors possesses a distinct and compelling motivation for securing his signature.

Liverpool: The objective at Anfield is monumental, finding a proven, top-tier successor to legendary forward Mohamed Salah, who is set to depart the club as a free agent this June. The Reds’ recruitment team views Bowen’s durable, left-footed profile on the right flank as an ideal, ready-made solution to inject immediate Premier League quality into their transitioning attack.

Liverpool face competition from Newcastle & Everton

Newcastle United: The Magpies are actively exploring wide reinforcements as they prepare for a potential frontline reshuffle. With star attacker Anthony Gordon attracting heavy interest from European heavyweights like Bayern Munich, Newcastle view Bowen as the perfect dynamic addition to maintain high-level offensive output at St. James’ Park.

Everton: Adding a fascinating narrative twist to the race, Toffees boss David Moyes is reportedly eager to orchestrate a Goodison Park reunion with his former West Ham skipper, aiming to build Everton’s creative rebuild around a player he trusts implicitly.

While West Ham hold significant theoretical leverage on paper, having tied Bowen down to a robust long-term contract that runs until 2030, the severe financial ramifications of their current table position cannot be ignored.

Sitting 18th and two points adrift of safety, a final-day drop to the Championship would make a £60 million windfall virtually impossible for the Hammers’ hierarchy to refuse.

Report: ‘Well-built central midfielder’ is being eyed by Man United to solve midfield issues

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of strengthening their midfield by targeting Ederson, the Brazilian midfielder currently plying his trade at Atalanta.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 26-year-old could be available for a fee in the region of £40 million, as Man United look to strengthen their squad with a blend of youth and experience for the upcoming season.

With Old Trafford decision-makers preparing for significant personnel change ahead of their return to the Champions League, securing an elite, in-prime central operator has become an urgent priority for the upcoming window.

Ederson has been an influential figure at Atalanta, known for his dynamic playing style and exceptional skills.

Ederson has made a name for himself in Serie A

Since joining the Serie A side from Salernitana in 2022, he has consistently delivered impressive performances, showcasing his ability to dictate play from the midfield.

His vision, dribbling, and ability to contribute defensively make him an attractive option for Man United, who have longed for a player to bring creativity and stability to their midfield following a turbulent season filled with inconsistency.

With veteran holding midfielder Casemiro confirming his departure upon the expiration of his contract this June, and Manuel Ugarte heavily tipped for an exit after an unconvincing stint in Manchester, United are noticeably light on reliable defensive pivot options.

While the club initially explored domestic options, including Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, massive asking prices north of £100 million have forced the Old Trafford hierarchy to pursue smarter, more cost-effective market opportunities.

Ederson fits that blueprint perfectly. The Brazilian has established himself as one of Serie A’s premier box-to-box midfielders, racking up over 175 appearances for Atalanta while playing a pivotal role in their sustained domestic and European success.

Man United see Ederson as a Casemiro replacement

Combining relentless ball recovery metrics with progressive carrying and a reliable passing range, Ederson possesses the ideal physical and technical attributes to thrive in the demanding environment of the Premier League.

South American football expert Tim Vickery has praised Ederson:

“He’s a strong, well-built central midfielder.”

“He’s strong on the ball, versatile, box-to-box and has a strong personality as well.”

Tactically, Old Trafford scouts view him as the perfect dynamic partner to anchor the midfield and unlock the advanced creative potential of Kobbie Mainoo.

United have been handed a remarkably clear run at his signature, long-standing talks between Ederson’s camp and Atlético Madrid recently collapsed after Diego Simeone’s side pivoted their attention toward finalising a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers star João Gomes.

As Michael Carrick’s side prepares to compete on multiple elite fronts next season, securing the Brazilian dynamo would provide the perfect foundational cornerstone to kickstart a critical new era at Old Trafford.

Chelsea working behind the scenes to appoint manager admired by Pep Guardiola

As Chelsea navigate the turbulent final stretch of their campaign under interim boss Calum McFarlane following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, the club’s hierarchy has already initiated its long-term strategy for the summer.

Behind the scenes, BlueCo executives are actively laying the groundwork to secure one of the most coveted tactical minds in the European market: outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.

While Stamford Bridge remains clouded by uncertainty, the Chelsea boardroom views the 43-year-old Basque tactician as the ideal profile to inject clarity, identity, and aggressive intent into an incredibly expensive but deeply inconsistent squad, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Andoni Iraola will be available this summer

Since officially confirming in mid-April that he will step down as Bournemouth manager at the end of the season, Iraola is attracting attention from top clubs who are looking for a new manager.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Operating under distinct financial constraints compared to the division’s elite, he has transformed the Cherries into a relentless, high-octane machine pushing for a historic European qualification.

Chelsea’s sporting directors are particularly impressed with Iraola’s distinct tactical philosophy.

Furthermore, Iraola possesses an elite track record of accelerating youth development.

The vast individual leaps taken by the likes of Milos Kerkez, Ilya Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, and Antoine Semenyo under his leadership serve as the ultimate drawing card for BlueCo.

Spaniard can work wonders at Chelsea

Iraola can work exceptionally well at Chelsea, but only if the club’s management is entirely committed to adapting to his blueprint, rather than expecting him to compromise for a static squad.

If the hierarchy grants him complete tactical autonomy, targets highly athletic profiles in the transfer market, and provides the vital breathing room required to install his physically demanding identity, Iraola has the elite tactical acumen to build a relentless, top-tier force in West London.

However, executing the appointment is far from easy for the Blues.

Both Crystal Palace and Manchester United are closely following Iraola and keen to appoint him in the near future. The Spaniard could start a tug-of-war between the top clubs in the country.

Pep Guardiola has praised Iraola in the past, recognising the incredible job he had done in Spain before coming to the Premier League.

Champions League winning attacker on Arsenal’s radar favours move to Liverpool

As Liverpool prepare for a pivotal summer transfer window aimed at comprehensively reinforcing their attacking ranks under manager Arne Slot, they have received a major boost to sign a versatile attacker.

According to reports from Le10Sport, Paris Saint-Germain’s electric winger Bradley Barcola has landed squarely on the Merseyside club’s radar.

Crucially, the 23-year-old French international is understood to be highly receptive to the prospect of testing himself at Anfield.

With Barcola set to enter the final two years of his contract at the Parc des Princes, the timing presents a crucial opportunity for the Reds to make their move.

Barcola played a pivotal role in PSG’s historic 2024–25 campaign, helping the club secure the coveted continental treble (Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League).

Liverpool face competition from Arsenal to sign Barcola

The Reds may have be to wary of interest from their Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are also closely monitoring the situation of the French attacker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Since making his high-profile switch from Olympique Lyonnais to PSG in the summer of 2023, Barcola has rapidly elevated himself to a top class winger and caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Despite enjoying immense domestic success and star status in Paris, the competitive allure of the Premier League is reportedly proving incredibly tempting for the young forward as he maps out the next definitive chapter of his career.

Liverpool are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this summer after it became clear that Mohamed Salah is heading out at the end of the season.

Not only that, the Reds are looking to sign someone who can offer more productivity from the wide positions, particularly after Cody Gakpo’s underwhelming season at Anfield.

Frenchman would be ideal attacker for the Reds

Barcola’s profile fits perfectly into Slot’s demanding system, which heavily relies on aggressive transition play and devastating wide overloads.

His ability to consistently isolate full-backs and deliver decisive final-third output makes him an ideal candidate to energise the Reds’ flanks for the next decade.

PSG are fiercely protective of their top domestic talents and will undoubtedly demand a massive transfer fee to even entertain negotiations.

However, the revelation that Anfield holds genuine personal appeal for the player provides Liverpool with crucial leverage.

Jamie Carragher blown away by Tottenham star after Leeds display

Jamie Carragher has singled out Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for his match-saving heroics against Leeds United.

During a pulsating encounter that ended in a hard-fought draw, it was the Czech shot-stopper who stood between Leeds and all three points, earning rave reviews for a performance that reinforced his status as one of the Premier League’s most promising talents.

Speaking on Sky Sports following the match, Carragher was effusive in his praise, suggesting that Kinsky’s intervention could prove to be a turning point for Spurs as they look to escape relegation.

Carragher on Antonin Kinsky: “One of the saves of the season”

Reflecting on the match, Carragher labelled Kinsky’s stoppage time save to deny Longstaff as ‘one of the saves of the season’.

The pundit noted that while the draw might have felt frustrating in the heat of the moment, the quality of the goalkeeping ensured the narrative wasn’t much worse for the North London side.

“I think that point will feel a lot better in the morning, when they reflect on the game,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“You think of the save from the keeper Kinsky from Longstaff onto the bar, that is one of the saves of the season.

“The two saves he made, one in the first half and one in the second, has made sure his team have got what could be a vital point.”

“That must be the greatest save he’s probably made in his career.”

Pundit backs Premier League boss to become next Liverpool manager after Xabi Alonso blow

The atmosphere at Anfield has turned toxic as the 2025/26 campaign nears its conclusion.

With Arne Slot struggling on and off the pitch and supporters increasingly voicing their frustration, former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino has tipped Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola as the frontrunner to take over the Liverpool hot seat.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast, Cascarino noted that the “regular booing” at Anfield is a sign that Slot’s time may be up.

While Slot is expected to see out the season, the hierarchy is reportedly already weighing up its options.

Why Liverpool could go after Andoni Iraola

The driving force behind the Iraola links is his pre-existing relationship with Liverpool’s Sporting Director, Richard Hughes.

It was Hughes who famously brought Iraola to Bournemouth, and Cascarino believes that history will play a decisive role in Liverpool’s next appointment.

“He brought him to Bournemouth and now he’s at Liverpool,” Cascarino explained.

“He did that negotiation. You have connections in football and people you deal with. It’s not that unlikely that a club like Liverpool could look at him. He’s done an incredible job.”

Since a rocky start on the South Coast, Iraola has transformed Bournemouth into a side playing “Champions League form,” showing a tactical flexibility and player development track record that Slot has noticeably lacked this season.

Liverpool set to miss out on Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso has emerged as the leading contender to take over the job at Stamford Bridge, much for the disappointment of Liverpool fans who wanted a dream return for Alonso at Anfield.

Massive moment in relegation battle

That goal conceded means Spurs are now just two points ahead of West Ham, with just two games remaining.

Both Spurs and West Ham can’t afford to lose any more points. As far as Tottenham are concerned, they need to win both their remaining games and they are safe.

West Ham need to win both theirs as well and hope that Spurs slip up in the final two games.

That said, Spurs final two fixtures (vs Chelsea and Everton) are more difficult on paper compared to the Hammers, who play Newcastle and Leeds United.

Tottenham win here bring them on verge of survival

Tel’s goal is massive for Spurs as they look to record their third consecutive win under Roberto De Zerbi.

Wins against Wolves and then a huge win against Aston Villa last week has built the much needed momentum for Spurs in their final run-in to escape relegation.

With West Ham controversially losing to Arsenal last night, the Nottingham Forest and Leeds are automatically secured.

Which means, a win for Spurs here would put them on the verge of survival and West Ham on the brink of relegation.

Spurs will mathematically still need one more win from their final two matches but De Zerbi’s side will likely stay safe.

Reliable journalist drops massive Xabi Alonso to Chelsea update as club makes contact

Xabi Alonso has emerged as the leading contender to take over at Chelsea as per the latest from reliable journalist Ben Jacobs.

Chelsea began the 2025/26 season with Enzo Maresca in charge, but inconsistent performances saw the Blues hierarchy make an early managerial change, replacing him with Liam Rosenior midway through the campaign.

However, Rosenior’s spell at Stamford Bridge proved even more disappointing.

In typical Chelsea fashion under BlueCo, the club acted brutally swift and dismissed Rosenior, with Callum McFarlane stepping in as interim manager while the search for a permanent appointment continues ahead of the summer.

Chelsea make contact with Xabi Alonso as Ben Jacobs reveals latest

Andoni Iraola, who is set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, has been a strongly linked with the job.

However, Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed by Real Madrid early on in the season, has now emerged as a ‘leading contender’ for the role.

According to Ben Jacobs, the Spaniard is open to the Premier League job.

Chelsea want to appoint a new manager before the World Cup starts and have already made contact with Alonso.

There are other managers under consideration as well including Fulham boss Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner.

Taking to X, Jacobs revealed:

“Understand Chelsea hope to appoint a successor to replace Liam Rosenior before the World Cup starts. Xabi Alonso is currently a leading contender and Chelsea have already made contact with the former Real Madrid and Leverkusen boss.

“Alonso is keen on a Premier League job this summer. Fulham’s Marco Silva and outgoing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola both remain on the list. Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner and ex-Flamengo coach Filipe Luis are new names under consideration…

“Luis was a name Chelsea discussed before appointing Rosenior with talks eventually centring on a potential switch to Strasbourg prior to Gary O’Neil’s appointment.”

Alonso joining Chelsea will be a blow for Liverpool

Alonso’s potential move to Stamford Bridge could also come as a major setback for Liverpool.

Pressure continues to grow on Arne Slot following a disappointing campaign that has seen Liverpool struggle for consistency while concerns over dressing room harmony continue to intensify.

Slot has faced criticism for Liverpool’s underwhelming results, his handling of Mohamed Salah, and comments surrounding the club’s Champions League run.

Liverpool supporters have traditionally remained fiercely loyal to their managers, but growing frustration among the Anfield faithful could eventually force the hierarchy to rethink their long-term stance.

Alonso has long been viewed as the dream candidate to eventually succeed at Liverpool, with many supporters hoping to see the former midfielder return to Anfield as manager.

But it appears that the lack of approach from the Liverpool hierarchy has now seen Alonso become a favourite for the Chelsea job which would no doubt come as a big blow for Liverpool if they do decide to sack Slot in the summer.

Sadio Mane story perfectly highlights what Arne Slot is getting badly wrong at Liverpool – opinion

Arne Slot’s tenure at Anfield was supposed to be a seamless transition into a new era, but the 2025/26 season has instead been defined by friction and a crumbling dressing room culture.

While Slot has overseen a dramatic dip in form that sees Liverpool sit in 4th place, struggling to book the final Champions League spot after 19 defeats – it is his deteriorating relationship with club legend Mohamed Salah that has drawn the sharpest criticism.

Arne Slot’s fallout with Mohamed Salah

The fallout between Slot and Salah has become the season’s highlight for the club.

After being benched for a critical run of games in December, Salah publicly claimed the club had “thrown him under the bus.”

Rather than diffusing the situation with the “human touch” that defined the previous regime, Slot doubled down.

He refused to initiate a patch-up, insisting that it is up to the player to bridge the gap. The Egyptian was subsequently left out of the European squad to play Inter and a cold, professional distance was followed that has alienated the club’s greatest modern goalscorer.

Sadio Mane’s story about Jurgen Klopp shows major difference between two managers

The stark contrast in leadership was highlighted recently by Sadio Mane. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s Presents podcast, Mane recalled a heated falling out with Jurgen Klopp after being dropped for a match against Manchester United.

“I missed the ball two times in training and he changed me; I didn’t start the next day. We won 4-0 and I waved off his handshake.

“But the next day, he texted me: ‘Can we be friends again?’ I went to his office and we sorted everything.”

Klopp’s willingness to swallow his pride to protect a player’s ego and squad harmony is a masterclass in man-management, an approach that seems entirely foreign to the current head coach.

Arne Slot’s latest Mohamed Salah swipe raises fresh concerns

Slot recently appeared to aim another subtle dig at Salah during a press conference.

After Salah spoke openly about concerns regarding the club’s culture and direction, Slot responded by insisting that “standards matter on the pitch, not just the gym” – comments widely interpreted as a pointed criticism of the departing forward.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

In the pre-Chelsea press conference, he said: “The standards are not only important in the gym. It’s also on the pitch, OK? You understand me? Without me saying anything?”

Questions around Slot’s management style now extend beyond Salah.

Concerns over Harvey Elliott’s treatment and the perceived lack of opportunities for academy players have further fuelled criticism of a manager increasingly accused of struggling with player relationships.

To conclude: The missing human touch

What Slot is getting terribly wrong is the lack of human touch and the lack of connection between the club, the fans, and the players.

For Klopp, he saw his players as humans above all. He prioritized the individual behind the athlete, making a personal connection with each of them that translated into legendary performances.

Slot’s clinical, distant approach has severed that bond, proving that tactical acumen is worthless if you lose the hearts and minds of the dressing room.

Klopp built a family atmosphere at Liverpool. Right now, Slot appears to be running a department and Liverpool’s performances suggest the dressing room may already feel the difference.

Man United shun media reports linking 23-year-old to shock summer exit

Manchester United have moved swiftly and decisively to shut down any speculation regarding the future of Amad Diallo.

Following emerging reports linking the 23-year-old winger with an end-of-season departure, with the likes of AC Milan and Premier League rivals Sunderland reportedly monitoring his situation, Old Trafford insiders have emphatically rejected the idea of a sale.

According to TEAMtalk, the Red Devils hierarchy have effectively “laughed off” suggestions that the Ivorian international could be allowed to leave, reaffirming his status as an absolutely non-negotiable cornerstone of the club’s long-term project.

The external reports regarding Amad’s potential availability stem from what has been a highly transitional campaign for the young attacker.

Amad Diallo has turned around his season

Earlier in the season under former manager Rúben Amorim, Amad found himself frequently deployed out of position as a wing-back, a restrictive role that limited his natural attacking instincts.

However, the appointment of interim boss Michael Carrick has triggered a highly positive reset.

Carrick immediately restored the elegant forward to his preferred position in the final third, a tactical shift that has delighted the player.

Amad has privately expressed immense happiness working under the interim manager, while Carrick himself recently lauded the winger’s work ethic, energy, and overall attitude both with and without the ball.

While Amad’s raw output this term has been modest, registering just four goal contributions across 30 Premier League appearances while navigating stiff competition from summer signing Bryan Mbeumo, the Man United boardroom remains entirely unconcerned.

Man United hierarchy have complete faith in the youngster

Backed heavily by Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who played an instrumental role in handing the youngster a lucrative long-term contract extension earlier this year, the club views Amad’s versatility as crucial.

The Old Trafford recruitment team firmly believes the 23-year-old possesses an exceptionally high ceiling and fully intends to build their future forward line around his unique skill set.

Far from being surplus to requirements, Amad remains an untouchable asset at Old Trafford, firmly entrenched as one of the definitive faces of the Red Devils’ ongoing rebuild.

Premier League side slap eye-watering £84m price tag on Man United target

West Ham United are bracing themselves for a massive summer boardroom battle over their prized asset.

Their latest defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League has moved them closer to the drop and that could mean a number of their key players could leave the club in the summer transfer window.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Hammers have slapped an astronomical £84 million valuation on standout midfielder Mateus Fernandes in an effort to ward off circling suitors.

Manchester United have emerged as the primary driving force behind the interest, actively exploring avenues to revamp their engine room.

While West Ham find themselves locked in a desperate scrap for top-flight survival with just two matches remaining, their 21-year-old Portuguese sensation appears entirely destined to continue his career at the absolute highest level, regardless of the London club’s ultimate fate.

West Ham demand premium fee for star midfielder

Demanding £84 million represents more than double the initial £38 million package (plus add-ons) the Hammers invested to acquire him from Southampton just last summer.

Despite West Ham enduring a deeply turbulent domestic campaign that currently teeters on the brink of the Championship, Fernandes has been an undisputed revelation.

Featuring in 34 of the club’s 36 Premier League fixtures to date, his aggressive press resistance, exceptional ball-carrying, and relentless work ethic have made him one of the most exciting young profiles in Europe.

His meteoric rise was further validated recently when Portugal manager Roberto Martínez handed him his senior international debut against the United States.

For Man United, signing a dynamic, multi-functional midfielder is an urgent priority for the upcoming transfer window.

Man United need a midfield rebuild this summer

Not only are they losing Casemiro at the end of the season, they are also dealing with lack of quality and depth in the midfield regardless of the Brazilian’s exit.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is planning a comprehensive restructure to future-proof their squad, and Fernandes’ elite tactical versatility, capable of operating seamlessly as a deep-lying number six, a box-to-box eight, or an advanced playmaker, fits their recruitment agenda.

Furthermore, reports indicate that United captain Bruno Fernandes is highly supportive of bringing his highly rated compatriot to Manchester to help shoulder the midfield burden.

Should the Hammers suffer relegation, retaining a player of Fernandes’ caliber in the second tier will be practically impossible.

Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso emerging as a highly coveted target for Premier League teams.

According to reports from TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Arsenal are both positioning themselves to secure the signature of the 26-year-old Italian international.

Cambiaso is reportedly ready to embark on a new chapter in his career during the upcoming transfer window, and Juventus have quietly made interested parties aware that an exit is possible.

However, prying the defender away from Turin will require a massive financial commitment, as the Bianconeri have placed a strict valuation in excess of €60 million on their prized wide operator.

Cambiaso’s steep rise to the top of English scouting lists is a direct result of his outstanding individual development.

Andrea Cambiaso has impressed this season

The Genoa-born defender has established himself as one of the most complete full-backs in European football, largely due to his exceptional tactical versatility.

Highly proficient with both feet, Cambiaso is capable of operating seamlessly as a traditional left-back, an advanced right wing-back, or even stepping centrally to act as an inverted playmaker.

For Man United, the motivations for a summer push are entirely clear.

The Old Trafford hierarchy is actively scouring the market for premium, left-sided defensive reinforcements.

With long-term availability issues continuously plaguing Luke Shaw, signing a reliable, top-tier defender who can instantly command a starting role on the left flank is an absolute priority for their defensive rebuild.

Man United face Arsenal competition to sign the Italian

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s concrete involvement shows Mikel Arteta’s relentless push for squad evolution.

Amid ongoing internal discussions regarding potential reshuffles across the backline, Arteta views Cambiaso’s exceptional awareness and two-footed flexibility as the perfect premium addition to elevate the Gunners’ tactical ceiling.

Despite the powerful allure generated by Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium, negotiating with Juventus promises to be difficult for the Premier League teams.

The Italian giants hold immense contractual leverage, having already resisted heavy interest from Manchester City in previous windows, they secured Cambiaso to a robust long-term agreement running until the summer of 2029.

Because they are under no immediate contractual pressure to sanction a cut-price sale, Juventus are standing firm on their demand for a fee north of €60 million.

Report: Liverpool target €50 million Frenchman as Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to search for a successor of Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian attacker has announced his decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season and the Merseyside club will be left with a monumental task of replacing one of their greatest modern day players.

According to reports from L’Équipe, the Merseyside club are formally preparing a €50 million push to sign AS Monaco’s highly coveted playmaker Maghnes Akliouche.

Liverpool are prioritising a major summer rebuild in which a lot of attacking and defensive additions are expected to arrive at the club after a poor season.

Liverpool plan move for Akliouche to replace Salah

Securing the 24-year-old French international is viewed not just as a move to fill Salah’s vacant position on the right flank, but as a crucial step toward injecting desperately needed technical quality back into the team.

Replacing a historic output machine like Salah is an impossible like-for-like task, and Liverpool’s recruitment team seems fully aware of that reality.

Rather than chasing a pure winger built solely on raw pace, the Reds are targeting Akliouche for his exceptional awareness and creative intelligence.

Operating primarily off the right, the Frenchman is a master at drifting into central pockets, linking the midfield to the forward line, and orchestrating overloads through quick combinations.

His output this season shows his immense maturity, acting as the principal architect of Monaco’s attack, Akliouche has racked up seven goals and 11 assists across 41 appearances in all competitions, consistently shining both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Reds face competition to sign the Frenchman

Monaco famously played hardball last summer, slapping a prohibitive €70 million price tag on their academy graduate that successfully deterred the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, though reports indicate Akliouche personally rejected the prospect of joining Spurs regardless.

With Monaco now reportedly willing to soften their stance and sanction a sale for around €50 million, the door has opened for his exit and given encouragement to Liverpool to make a move.

Yet, Liverpool are far from alone in the race. Reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain retain a long-standing, aggressive interest in the midfielder, viewing him as the perfect premium addition to the team.

The Reds might even attempt an ambitious double swoop, monitoring Akliouche’s highly rated midfield teammate Lamine Camara as they prepare for further squad departures.

Arteta praises ‘incredible’ Arsenal star in season defining win against West Ham

Arsenal’s gritty, hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium showed their true credentials this season.

While late-game drama and VAR interventions dominated the post-match headlines, the true cornerstone of the Gunners’ crucial triumph was the breathtaking performance of David Raya.

The Spaniard made crucial saves for the Gunners in crucial moments. The most iconic save coming against Mateus Fernandes in a one on one situation, a save that may win the title for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Spanish shot-stopper produced a masterclass in clutch goalkeeping, securing a vital three points that inches Arsenal ever closer to lifting the league title.

Arsenal manager praises goalkeeper David Raya

Mikel Arteta acknowledged the performance of Raya and praised him for his quality.

The 30-year-old made three defining saves, beginning with an acrobatic, full-stretch stop to deny Taty Castellanos just before the interval.

Raya saved his absolute best for the second half, producing a miraculous, point-blank block to thwart Fernandes when the midfielder looked destined to equalise.

He told Arsenal.com: “When you talk about magic moments, this is certainly one of the most needed moments as well to pull off with that save. He was incredible.”

The match concluded in chaotic fashion when West Ham had a stoppage-time equaliser correctly ruled out by VAR following a clear-cut foul on Raya.

Raya has been in stunning form for the Gunners

Raya registered five crucial recoveries and secured his 18th clean sheet of the campaign.

In doing so, he officially locked down his third consecutive Premier League Golden Glove award, a remarkable testament to his sustained individual excellence.

With an extended break before hosting Burnley on May 18, followed by a final-day trip to Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s objective is crystal clear, two more wins guarantee the title.

Matches like this prove that while attackers win games, world-class goalkeepers secure championships.

Arteta signed Raya to replace Aaron Ramsdale and at that time, the decision received a lot of criticism but the Spanish manager has been proved right by the goalkeeper.

Jamie Redknapp praises Arsenal player who he feels is ‘maybe the best’ in the world

When Mikel Arteta made the ruthless call to replace fan-favourite Aaron Ramsdale, the footballing world was surprised.

Arsenal already possessed a top-class, highly popular English goalkeeper and making a move for David Raya felt something that was not needed.

However, the Spaniard has more than justified his signing, as well as the decision that Arteta made.

Raya has won the Golden Glove award in the Premier League for three seasons in a row now.

Following yet another heroic, match-winning display in a crucial, highly dramatic victory over West Ham United, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has joined a growing chorus of elite voices declaring the Spaniard not just the premier shot-stopper in England, but quite possibly the absolute best goalkeeper on the planet.

David Raya has been sensational for Arsenal

Against West Ham, in a fixture defined by intense late pressure and massive VAR controversy, Raya once again proved to be the ultimate difference-maker.

Redknapp was quick to hold his hands up and admit his own initial doubts, highlighting the incredible vision shown by the Arsenal manager.

‘When you think back, this is where the manager deserves credit because when David Raya first come, I wasn’t sure about that decision,’ Redknapp said on Sky Sports, as reported by Metro.

‘Arsenal already had a good goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale. I was thinking, “why are you making that change?”

‘But this season Raya has shown he’s definitely the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and maybe the best goalkeeper in the world.

‘It is an unbelievable save in the moment. You have to give the goalkeeper credit. He stands up and then he flicks out his right foot. It is an unbelievable save.’

Spaniard is highly valued by the Gunners

Just last month, following Raya’s masterclass in the Champions League, teammate Kai Havertz publicly voiced the exact same opinion, calling the 30-year-old phenomenally underestimated and the best player in the world in his position.

Arteta himself has continuously lauded his number one as extraordinary, fully vindicated by a player who has single-handedly rescued points for the Gunners time and time again.

While the £27 million fee paid to Brentford was initially viewed as a luxury spend, it now looks like the absolute bargain of the decade.

Raya has provided Arsenal with the calming, world-class foundation required to deal with pressure situations and ability to make saves when goals have looked certain.

As the Gunners stand on the absolute brink of lifting the Premier League trophy, Arteta’s boldest transfer gamble has evolved into a masterstroke.

‘I can guarantee’ – Romano issues monumental update on the Liverpool manager situation

Just a year after the excitement of lifting the Premier League trophy, Arne Slot finds himself navigating an increasingly turbulent storm at Anfield.

The Reds have struggled a lot this season and they are set to end the season without silverware, a huge surprise from how they performed last year and the kind of business they did in the summer transfer window last year.

With frustrated supporters openly clamouring for a managerial change, reports inevitably linked the Merseyside club with former fan-favourite Xabi Alonso.

However, highly respected transfer authority Fabrizio Romano has definitively quashed the speculation, confirming that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) remain entirely committed to Slot and have absolutely no intention of making a change in the dugout.

Liverpool believe Arne Slot can revive the club again

Last season, Slot successfully capitalised on the world-class foundations left behind by Jürgen Klopp, steering the Reds to an incredible Premier League title in his debut campaign.

Fast forward to May 2026, and the contrast is stark. They are currently 20 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

While speaking on his Youtube channel, Romano provided the latest update. He said:

“At the moment, the feeling at Liverpool, I can confirm that it is absolutely in the direction that they want to continue with Slot. Why? Because so far, and it’s May now, it’s no longer February, March, or April. In May, Liverpool have not made contact with any other manager. There were many rumours on Liverpool making contact with Alonso coming from Germany, but I can guarantee that Liverpool this year never made any direct approach with Alonso or with his agents.”

Slot is set to have a crucial summer window

Ultimately, Liverpool’s unwavering public backing provides Slot with crucial breathing room to navigate the remainder of the season, but it also places immense importance on the upcoming summer transfer window.

Slot has been granted the opportunity to fix the ongoing structural issues, but if Liverpool do not hit the ground running with an energised, cohesive identity next season, the calls for his departure will become impossible to ignore.

It is going to be a crucial summer for Liverpool and they have some big decisions to make.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are leaving the club while Alisson Becker could be heading out as well.

Slot has to get his act together in the summer and build another title challenging team.

Sources: Liverpool make ‘concrete steps’ to sign winger with a €60 million release clause

Francisco Trincão’s revival at Sporting CP has quietly turned him into one of the most interesting attacking names on the European transfer market.

Once regarded as one of Portugal’s brightest young talents during his move to Barcelona, the winger has rebuilt his reputation in Lisbon with maturity, consistency and end product.

The 26-year-old is now attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, with Liverpool and Chelsea both linked with a possible summer move, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

His current Sporting contract runs until 2030, while recent reports claim his deal includes a €60 million release clause, giving interested clubs a clear figure to work with.

Trincão has impressed top clubs including Liverpool & Chelsea

Trincão has become a vital part of Sporting’s attack since joining the club permanently in 2023.

His ability to operate from wide areas, drift inside and create chances has made him especially valuable in a modern system where forwards are expected to contribute beyond goals.

He has produced 6 goals and 11 assists in the 2025/26 Liga Portugal campaign.

That consistency explains why Liverpool’s reported interest appears significant.

Liverpool have registered interest and taken concrete steps to sign Trincão, who is seen as a versatile attacking option capable of playing on the right or through central areas.

Chelsea’s interest also makes sense. The London club have repeatedly looked for technically gifted forwards who can beat defenders, create chances and offer tactical flexibility.

What next for Sporting winger Trincão?

Trincão’s left-footed profile, experience in Portugal and Spain, and improved decision-making would make him a useful addition to a squad still searching for reliable attacking balance.

Arsenal and other English clubs are also said to be monitoring the situation, but Sporting will not be under pressure to sell cheaply.

With his contract secured until 2030 and a reported €60m clause in place, the Portuguese champions are in a strong negotiating position.

Liverpool appear to be moving with real intent, Chelsea are watching closely, and Sporting know they possess a player whose value has risen sharply.

At €60m, he is not a bargain, but for clubs looking for creativity, versatility and proven output, Trincão may be one of the most attractive attacking options available.

AC Milan’s formidable centre-back Strahinja Pavlović has emerged as a target for the Red Devils, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Man United and Crystal Palace are both positioning themselves to test the resolve of the Rossoneri hierarchy.

While Crystal Palace have acted swiftly as the first club to formally gauge the parameters of a potential deal, Man United are understood to harbor a highly concrete, long-term interest.

However, prying the dominant 24-year-old away from San Siro will require a massive financial and structural push, as Milan have currently placed a strict “not for sale” tag on their defensive cornerstone.

Man United have closely monitored Pavlović

Pavlović’s steep rise to the top of English scouting lists is a testament to his exceptional individual development under manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Arriving in Lombardy in the summer of 2024 from RB Salzburg for an initial fee of €18.5 million, the aggressive, left-footed defender initially had to bide his time to adapt to the rigorous tactical demands of Italian football.

Fast forward to the current campaign, and the Serbian international has undeniably transformed into one of the most improved and dominant figures in Serie A.

Commanding the left side of Milan’s backline, Pavlović has racked up 35 appearances across all competitions, showcasing an imposing physical presence while contributing valuable attacking impetus with four goals and an assist.

Man United remain committed to acquiring elite, left-sided defensive profiles who can combine rugged aerial dominance with progressive ball-carrying abilities.

Red Devils face competition from Crystal Palace

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s early probing highlights their ambitious recruitment strategy, aiming to secure premium European talent before market valuations spiral completely out of reach.

Despite the growing external noise, AC Milan’s current public stance is uncompromising. The club views Pavlović as an indispensable pillar to build around for the future, firmly valuing him at a base floor of €40 million to €50 million.

Contractually, the Italian giants hold total leverage, Pavlović’s existing agreement runs until the summer of 2028, complete with a club option to extend the deal for an additional season.

However, reliable Italian insiders suggest that Milan’s absolute resolve could eventually be tested by their collective finish to the season.

Should the club suffer a disastrous failure to secure lucrative Champions League qualification, the hierarchy at Via Aldo Rossi may be forced to reluctantly reconsider their non-negotiable stance to balance the books.

Catalonia calling: Chelsea star is ready to abandon struggling Blues to join Barcelona

Barcelona are interested in a move for Chelsea attacker Joao Pedro, who has highly impressed in his debut season for the Premier League side.

According to Sport, the Catalan giants have identified the 24-year-old Brazilian as a primary alternative to Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez.

With Barcelona actively laying the groundwork for a transition in attack to eventually replace veteran talisman Robert Lewandowski, sporting director Deco is monitoring the Premier League market closely.

Increasing their interest is Chelsea’s deeply turbulent domestic campaign, facing the looming reality of missing out on European football next season, the Blues find themselves increasingly vulnerable to elite suitors circling their top talent.

Joao Pedro has impressed Barcelona this season

Pedro’s inclusion on Barcelona’s exclusive shortlist comes as no surprise given his exceptional individual campaign.

Arriving at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, the versatile attacker has been a rare beacon of brilliance amidst widespread collective inconsistency in West London.

Racking up 20 goals and nine assists across all competitions during his debut season, his sharp execution, physical intensity, and ability to operate both as a focal-point number nine and a creative presence between the lines have deeply impressed the Blaugrana hierarchy.

While Barcelona’s initial preference remains Álvarez, negotiations for the Argentine are expected to be exceptionally difficult.

Atlético Madrid are highly reluctant to sell, reportedly demanding a fee north of €120 million.

Consequently, Deco has seriously explored the parameters of a move for Pedro, which Sport estimates could cost between €80 million and €100 million.

Chelsea are in a strong position with the striker’s future

To pitch the move, Barcelona are reportedly leaning on their successful “Raphinha blueprint”, highlighting how another standout Brazilian international traded the Premier League for Camp Nou in his mid-20s to elevate his career to world-class heights.

Reports even indicate that Pedro has already held informal discussions with his international teammate Raphinha regarding life under manager Hansi Flick.

Although Chelsea hold immense contractual leverage, having signed Pedro to a massive deal running until 2033, their inability to offer elite European competition presents a formidable obstacle in keeping their star players content.

Ultimately, Chelsea’s ongoing struggle to establish a stable, top-four project threatens to dismantle their highly expensive squad before it fully matures.
