Sources: Money there for Arteta as three Arsenal transfer targets emerge

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to have money to spend this January if there are specific players he’s keen to bring in straight away.

However, as first reported here for the Daily Briefing, there is not necessarily going to be any rush to spend more money in the upcoming winter transfer window, with the club thinking more long-term.

Arsenal decided not to enter the market last January despite having a major injury crisis, and then ended up making plenty of changes during the summer.

The Gunners remain in a good place financially, so there could be a decent budget there for Arteta to work with, though it’s too early to know for sure if the club will be actively pursuing anyone just yet.

I was told about three long-term targets to watch out for, with Arsenal eyeing youngsters such as Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, though the latter of those probably isn’t too realistic.

The north London giants might also be in the mix for Barcelona’s Marc Casado, though it’s again not clear how realistic a deal is as Chelsea are considered further ahead in the race for his signature.

Aside from that, Arsenal’s focus in the near future will be on new contracts for star trio Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice.

Arsenal fans will surely be happy with the state of the squad Arteta has at his disposal right now, so it makes sense that there’s no rush to make further changes after a successful summer.

Do you think there’s anything else Arsenal need this January or should they wait until the summer to do the bulk of their business again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Sources: Man United discuss new midfielder transfer target after scouting him “extensively”

Manchester United have had some internal discussions over signing Lille midfield wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi, as first reported in an exclusive for the Daily Briefing.

The Red Devils have scouted Bouaddi “extensively”, according to sources, with Christopher Vivell said to be a big fan of the highly-rated 18-year-old.

Bouaddi has been a revelation in the Lille first-team and it seems inevitable that he’ll soon earn himself a big move.

As well as Man Utd, there is interest from a long list of other major European clubs, including Arsenal and others from outside the Premier League.

Still, it seems United are currently being credited with the strongest interest, even if there have not yet been any talks or offers over the player.

United have been a bit smarter with some of their recent recruitment, looking to save money by bringing in young talents rather than just splashing the cash on superstar signings like they’ve done for so much of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Leny Yoro was one elite talent snapped up by United, and he also came from Lille, where Bouaddi is the latest top talent to shine in their squad.

It will be interesting to see if MUFC can use that relationship with Lille to get another top youngster before other big clubs around Europe.

Man United need a new midfielder

Bouaddi is still young and learning the game, but he arguably already looks like he’d improve Ruben Amorim’s midfield.

Perhaps the club will turn to Premier League-proven players like Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, but Bouaddi looks like another option well worth considering.

The France Under-21 international has a bit of everything to his game, so he could be a perfect upgrade on the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte in that area of the pitch.

Mason Greenwood set to be offered Premier League return by Man United rivals

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign Mason Greenwood from Marseille, according to a report from TeamTalk.

The North London club are believed to be seeking a “dynamic player” to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, and Greenwood has emerged as a serious candidate.

The former Manchester United forward has rediscovered his form in Ligue 1, becoming one of the best performers in French football.

However, Tottenham face competition from several major clubs, with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and West Ham United all expressing interest in the 24-year-old.

Mason Greenwood has excelled in the Ligue 1

Greenwood’s career has experienced a dramatic turnaround since his move to Marseille.

After leaving Man United in 2024, the English forward has rebuilt his reputation and confidence through consistent performances in France.

So far this season, Greenwood has scored eight goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, continuing the fine form that saw him notch 22 goals in 36 games last campaign.

For Tottenham, Greenwood represents a potential game-changer. Manager Thomas Frank has made no secret of his desire to add pace, versatility, and unpredictability to his frontline.

Greenwood’s capacity to play across the front three, as a right winger, left forward, or even a secondary striker, matches perfectly with Frank’s tactical ideas.

However, Tottenham’s pursuit will not be easy. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both monitoring Greenwood’s progress, with the Spanish giants attracted by his age, adaptability, and proven productivity.

Meanwhile, West Ham United have also joined the chase. Some of the top clubs in the world are taking notice of his consistent performances and goal scoring record.

Greenwood could get the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League after his Man United spell was cut short due to his controversial off the field activities.

Spurs could now give him another chance to play in the Premier League.

Hakimi and Doue Fire PSG Past Brest in Comfortable 3-0 Win

Paris Saint Germain returned to Ligue 1 summit with a commanding 3-0 victory over Brest at Stade Francis-Le Ble. Achraf Hakimi bagged a well-taken double to start his season’s tally, while Desire Doue rounded off the win with a stoppage time goal, Softfootball reports.

Following an emphatic 7-2 Champions League victory over Bayer Leverkusen, Paris Saint Germain looked to bounce back in Ligue 1 after consecutive draws with Lille and Strasbourg.

They dominated in possession and territory dominance at the start of the game, but finding a way past Radosław Majecki proved difficult.

Brest created the first real chance of the match when Junior Dina Ebimbe squared the ball to Pathe Mboup in the box, but the forward’s effort was straight at Lucas Chevalier. At the other end, Radosław Majecki kept Senny Mayulu at bay with a smart save.

PSG broke the deadlock just before 30 minutes through Achraf Hakimi, who volleyed home Vitinha’s lofted pass to the back post.

The Morocco international doubled PSG’s advantage in the 39th minute, converting a lucky rebound from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s mishit into the top-right corner.

Brest nearly pulled one back in a quiet second half when Lee Kang-In was penalized for handball after a lengthy VAR check. Del Castillo, however, lost his footing and sent his shot over the bar.

In stoppage time, PSG sealed the win as Désiré Doué, after twice hitting the woodwork, finally found the net in the sixth minute. Played through by Warren Zaire-Emery, he finished emphatically past Majecki.

PSG displayed remarkable composure, looking like a side rediscovering its confidence. The victory extended their unbeaten run against Brest to 33 games, a streak dating back to 1985, underscoring why they continue to lead the French football scene.

With Hakimi in fine form, Dembele’s return, and the squad beginning to click again, Paris Saint-Germain appears to be hitting their stride at just the right moment.
