Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S25 receives December 2025 security patch in the US
Samsung has now rolled out the December 2025 security update for unlocked models of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones in the US. This update has already been released for carrier-locked variants and is now being rolled out to unlocked devices as well.
December 2025 security update is based on One UI 8 and Android 16. It is available for Galaxy S25 series devices that are not enrolled in the One UI 8.5 beta program in the US. Users who are running stable software can now install the update to enhance their deviceβs security and performance.
The company is rolling out the latest software update with system security improvements to keep your files and data safe on your phone. It also optimizes system stability to offer you uninterrupted and seamless functionality on your device.

Official details reveal that the December 2025 security patch includes a total of 68 security fixes. Out of these, 57 patches are provided by Google for Android, addressing 6 critical and 51 high-level vulnerabilities. In addition, Samsung has included 11 One UI specific fixes, further enhancing the security of Galaxy devices.
Earlier this month, Samsung started the One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series in select countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and South Korea. Eligible users in these countries can join the beta program to try new features and improvements before the official release.
For users who are not interested in testing beta software, the stable December 2025 security update is another option. To install the update, open Settings>> Software Update >> Download and install.
