December Week 4 was a very busy period for Samsung. Galaxy devices across ranges have received new software updates. Samsung is also working swiftly behind the scenes to develop and test the next major One UI upgrade.

Samsung Updates in December Week 4

Samsung released the second One UI 8.5 Beta for the Galaxy S25 series, One UI 8 Watch for Galaxy Watch 4, the December 2025 patch for various phones and tablets, updated apps with extended support, and new features.

Here’s a breakdown:

One UI 8.5 – Beta and Alpha

Beta

On December 22, Samsung released the second One UI 8.5 Beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. The update was dropped in Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US, and debuted as the first update in India and Poland.

• One UI 8.5 Beta 2 – ZYLH

This update introduced an updated Camera Assistant app. Users can add back Dual Recording and Single Take to the stock camera. Pro mode has also gained useful photography tools derived from the Expert RAW application.

Issue under investigation

A user in the US reported having lag and overheating issues on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung moderator acknowledged the issue and requested the user to report the problem with a log file attached for effective resolution.

Alpha

Samsung started internal One UI 8.5 testing for various devices. The Beta Program is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series, while other phones, foldables, and tablets would directly receive an official update in 2026.

Samsung Apps

In the fourth week, Samsung released major updates for select apps, including Camera Assistant, Expert RAW, QuickStar, Theme Park, and Routines+.

Camera Assistant added new Pro photography tools, Expert RAW fixed incompatibility with Beta 2, and QuickStar and Routines+ gained One UI 8.5 support. Samsung also advised users to update Theme Park to version 1.1.xx.

December 2025 Patch

Samsung’s December patch has already arrived for plenty of models, and the remaining ones have also scored their updates in the last week of the month.

In the next week, we expect Samsung’s January 2026 patch details and update rollout to some Galaxy devices.

One UI 8 Watch

Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, the last eligible candidates for Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch update, have also updated recently. Initially released in South Korea, the software landed in the US, while expansion is still underway.
