Here’s the first look at Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 ‘Wide’
Samsung is working on a new foldable phone, reportedly called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Unlike the usual tall foldable phones, this one is shorter and wider. The phone folds like a book, but when open, it looks more like a small tablet. Now, new renders show what it may look like and its size.
OnLeaks, in collaboration with Android Headlines, shared renders and new information about Samsung’s Wide foldable, which has a completely new shape.
These renders of the phone look wider, like a small tablet when open, and thicker than Samsung’s regular Fold phones. People think Samsung might be doing this to match Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which is also expected to be wider in shape.
The leaks also say Samsung will use a simpler camera setup on this model. Instead of three or more cameras like on other top phones, this Wide foldable might only have two cameras on the back. This could make it less powerful for photos, but it might help keep the phone thinner or cheaper.

The most important differences are in the size and shape. The size of the Wide Fold is different from the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The Fold 8 is taller and narrower, while the Wide Fold is shorter and wider. Here are the leaked dimensions:
Galaxy Z Fold 8
- Unfolded – 158.4 × 143.2 × 4.5 mm, Folded – 158.4 × 72.8 × 9 mm
Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Wide”
- Unfolded – 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.9 mm, Folded – 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8 mm
This shows that the new Wide Fold is not much wider, but it is shorter in height and a little thicker. The screen will feel more square when unfolded.
Samsung has not said when the Wide Fold will be released. Right now, these are only leaks, so some details may change. The Wide Fold seems to be Samsung’s answer to Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone. Stay tuned for more information.
