iPhone 18 Pro camera upgrade 'confirmed' by another rumor

23 June 2026 at 02:30

According to one of the most prolific and well-known tipsters on Weibo, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will get the much-rumored main camera upgrade. Actually, he says it's "confirmed". This upgrade basically means the main camera module will be physically larger on the iPhone 18 Pro than it was on its predecessor. This will result in the camera bump's thickness being increased by approximately 2mm. The iPhone 18 Pro (and the iPhone 18 Pro Max) have long been rumored to get a main camera with a variable aperture, and that alone could explain this size increase. There's also a chance...

New supply chain report claims the iPhone Ultra will be unveiled as scheduled

23 June 2026 at 01:30

Last week, a report from Apple's supply chain indicated that the iPhone Ultra would be delayed. This was quickly shot down by a leaker over on Weibo, and today there's a new supply chain report that backs that up. According to an unnamed source "at an Apple supplier", the iPhone Ultra will be unveiled in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, just as it was rumored to be countless times so far. A second supply chain source said it had received no indication of a delay. Purported iPhone Ultra dummy unit What all of this most likely means is that the iPhone...

Samsung and Amazon bring interactive video ads to TV Plus

22 June 2026 at 22:20

Samsung named its first wave of launch partners for a new interactive video ad format on Samsung TV Plus, built on Amazon Ads remote-enabled tech. Brands including Boiron USA, Logitech, PLAION, PMG, and Reckitt are first in line.

Watch a show, see an ad, click your remote, buy the thing.Β For brands selling on Amazon, viewers can add items to their Amazon cart straight from the TV. For everyone else, there are softer calls to action like β€œSend to Phone” or β€œSign Up Today.”

Amazon Ads has its own numbers; it’s been circulating: interactive video drives six times higher brand searches, four times more add-to-cart actions, and five times higher purchase rates compared to standard formats.

Brands poured money into streaming inventory, called it full-funnel strategy, and quietly accepted that the bottom of that funnel was somewhere else entirely. Samsung and Amazon are now charging for the privilege of closing that gap.

Logitech, Reckitt, and Boiron all dropped quotes about discovery and frictionless paths to purchase. Every one of those brands is watching e-commerce fragment across screens and trying desperately not to miss the moment.

Samsung TV Plus inventory is activated through Amazon DSP, which means advertisers get Samsung’s FAST environment paired with Amazon’s shopping and browsing signals.

Additionally, Samsung announced that the TV Plus platform crossed 100 million monthly active users this year.

A 25-year Samsung record ends as SK Hynix rides the HBM success

22 June 2026 at 16:36

SK Hynix, this Monday, broke a 25-year Samsung record of being the most valuable company in South Korea. Riding the AI boom and HBM memory success, SK Hynix outclassed Samsung for the first time in its home ground.

According toΒ KEDGlobal, SK Hynix market share surpassed Samsung Electronics, snatching a 25-year crown on June 22. Shares of the β€œnow” most valuable company closed up 5.6%, lifting its market capitalisation to $1.35 trillion.

On the other hand, Samsung’s stock eased 0.14% to give it a market value of 2,066.7 trillion won, excluding preferred shares. Despite a broad business portfolio, Samsung surrendered its crown to SK Hynix due to the AI wave.

However, the Galaxy maker stated that its market cap should include preferred shares. Including those shares, the company’s value as of the market close stood at 2,246.4 trillion won, which is still ahead of SK Hynix.

β€œThe emergence of customised AI memory fundamentally changed the industry’s economics and allowed SK Hynix to establish itself as the market leader,” said Kim Sunwoo, a senior analyst at Meritz Securities.

Samsung expands Qualcomm partnership from Snapdragon chips to AI data center accelerators

22 June 2026 at 16:15

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has started mass production of FC-BGA substrates for Qualcomm AI200 at its Busan plant. Qualcomm is targeting a second-half 2026 launch; Samsung Electro-Mechanics is moving in lockstep.

The AI200 is Qualcomm’s first AI accelerator built specifically for data centers, unveiled last October. It pairs a custom Oryon CPU with a Hexagon NPU and runs on LPDDR5 memory, which trades raw bandwidth for power efficiency.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has spent years supplying package substrates for Qualcomm’s application processors in phones and PCs. The AI200 deal marks the first time that the relationship bleeds into data center silicon.

Industry insiders say (via ZD Net) that the long-standing relationship made the AI200 supply agreement a relatively clean negotiation.

The AI250 is reportedly coming in 2027, which means Samsung Electro-Mechanics could be stacking recurring data center revenue on top of its mobile base.

The AI200 requires a lower performance threshold for FC-BGA compared to High Bandwidth Memory (HBM)-based AI accelerators. Therefore, the barrier to entry will be relatively low for LG Innotek, which is a latecomer to the FC-BGA industry.

Apple’s China OLED exit boosts Korea; Samsung and LG secure iPhone 18, Foldable iPhone and MacBook display supply

22 June 2026 at 12:59

Apple reportedly handed Samsung Display and LG Display of South Korea a big OLED display opportunity for the iPhone 18 Pro, foldable iPhone, and MacBook Pro.

The US tech giant appears to have exited China, for now, for OLED display supply. Korean firms, Samsung Display and LG Display, likely dominate the OLED display supply for the next-generation Apple products.

According toΒ SemiconductorsX, Samsung Display and LG Display may supply all OLED panels for all the Apple devices coming in 2026. The two Korean companies have grabbed a 100 percent share, and it’s a big blow to China’s BOE.

Apple usually sourced OLEDs from BOE for the standard iPhone model. The company plans to postpone the standard iPhone release to early 2027. This year’s event could only bring the Pro and Pro Max models of iPhone.

iPhone 18 Pro line is expected to launch in September, and the Korean display suppliers have reportedly begun mass production of the panels.

BOE tried much, but Apple ended up excluding BOE from the premium OLED supply. The Chinese firm now have to wait for a few months as the standard model could be postponed.

In addition to iPhone 18 Pro models, Samsung Display and LG Display have secured huge orders for the next-generation iPad Mini and iPhone Ultra (the first foldable product from Apple).

Samsung could begin producing OLED displays for MacBook Pro next month as it aims to get its new production line functioning. Meanwhile, LG Display has secured the entire stack of OLED supply for the Apple Watch 12.

Intense heat from RTX 5090 discolors high-end motherboard in just 6 months

22 June 2026 at 08:55

High-end PC parts are built to handle serious heat and power, but even flagship gear can throw some surprises after months of heavy use. A recent report shows an ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 leaving noticeable discoloration on the chipset (PCH) heatsink of a high-end ASUS motherboard.

The story comes from a user on a Taiwanese hardware forum. They were running an all-ASUS setup: the ROG Astral RTX 5090 paired with a ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi motherboard inside a ProArt PA602 case. After about six months, when they pulled the GPU out, they saw clear marks on the PCH heatsink right underneath where the card sits. Some of the discoloration wiped off with a damp cloth, but not everything.

This really highlights just how much heat the RTX 5090 can pump out. NVIDIA rates it at 575W TDP, and under heavy gaming, AI workloads, or big transients, it can go even higher. That big triple-fan cooler on the Astral pushes heat downward, and if your case airflow isn’t great, it can bake nearby components over time.

Motherboard heatsinks are meant to tolerate high temperatures. The bigger concern is the chips beneath them. Prolonged concentrated heat can shorten the lifespan of those components, potentially affecting the motherboard’s overall longevity.

The ROG Astral has had some other headlines since launch, including melting 16-pin power connectors, black screen problems, and a few isolated early incidents like a capacitor fire. There were also reports of some early cards shipping with missing raster units. ASUS added better power monitoring on their premium models, but these kinds of growing pains come with pushing next-gen hardware this hard.

If you’re running a 5090 (especially for long AI sessions, content creation, or heavy gaming), it’s smart to keep a close eye on your case temps and airflow. Make sure everything’s well-ventilated, cables are properly seated, and check for any weird hot spots from time to time.

So far this sounds like an isolated case, but it’s a good reminder that these ultra-high-power cards run hot.

Xiaomi 18 Pro series could offer Samsung-like Privacy Display feature

22 June 2026 at 08:52

The Xiaomi 18 series is already beginning to surface through leaks months ahead of its expected debut. Recent information from well-known Chinese tipsters points to several upgrades across the lineup, suggesting that Xiaomi may focus on display technology, privacy features and camera improvements for its next-generation flagship phones.

Xiaomi 18 Pro may introduce privacy-focused display technology

According to details shared by tipsters Digital Chat Station and Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is testing a new flagship Pro model equipped with a next-generation 2K display and integrated privacy protection technology. The feature is said to combine hardware and software solutions to prevent nearby people from viewing on-screen content, offering enhanced protection for messages, passwords and other sensitive information.

While the device was not named directly, speculation points to the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The leak follows reports that Samsung is also exploring similar privacy display solutions for future Galaxy flagship devices, indicating that privacy-focused screens could become a new trend in the premium smartphone segment.

Smart Pikachu recently claimed that the Xiaomi 18 series is currently scheduled to launch in September. The lineup is expected to retain Xiaomi’s secondary rear display concept while introducing a customized 200-megapixel LOFIC main camera. The phones are also tipped to feature displays with larger corner radii, an effective 2K resolution and higher peak brightness compared to the previous generation.

On the software side, the Xiaomi 18 family is expected to run HyperOS 4. Leaks suggest the interface could introduce a new light-inspired visual style while bringing deeper AI integration across applications. Speaking of AI integration, recent reports have revealed that the series will feature a dedicated AI button.

As of now, Xiaomi has not confirmed any of these details. However, if the leaks prove accurate, the Xiaomi 18 series could arrive with one of the biggest display and privacy upgrades seen on a Xiaomi flagship in recent years. What do you think about privacy display technology, and is this the feature you are most excited to see on the Xiaomi 18 Pro?

This upcoming OnePlus flagship may have been cancelled

22 June 2026 at 08:06

Last year, OnePlus launched its first compact flagship, the OnePlus 13T, in China. A tweaked version of the device later arrived in India as the OnePlus 13s. The company appeared set to follow the same strategy this year after unveiling the OnePlus 15T in China in March. This led to speculation that India would receive a rebadged or slightly modified version called the OnePlus 15s. However, recent developments suggest those plans may no longer be in place.

OnePlus 15s may have been shelved

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus 15s is not expected to launch in India. The claim suggests that the device has effectively been cancelled for the market, although no official explanation has been shared by the company. If accurate, this would mark a notable shift from OnePlus’ approach last year, when the 13T successfully made its way to India under the 13s branding.

The timing of the rumor is particularly interesting. OnePlus unveiled the 13s in June last year in India, and that launch window has already passed as June 2026 approaches its final days. Instead of teasing a compact flagship, the brand’s attention has been focused on the upcoming OnePlus N6 series, which is scheduled to launch in India on June 30.

The leak also raises questions about OnePlus’ broader flagship roadmap. While the OnePlus 16 is widely expected to debut in China in September, there is reportedly no final decision yet regarding its release in India. That said, it would be surprising if the company’s main flagship skipped one of its most important markets.

September is expected to be a busy month for the smartphone industry, with several major Chinese brands preparing next-generation flagship launches. If the OnePlus 16 arrives as expected, it will likely compete directly with premium offerings from rival manufacturers during a highly competitive launch season.

The tipster revealed that the standard Xiaomi Pad 9 has model numbers M656BA, 26103RP65G, and 26103RP65I. The β€œ2610” numbering suggests that the Pad 9 series could be planned to break cover in October this year.

Skrzypek also revealed through the HyperOS code that the Pad 9 will pack a 9,720mAh battery. In comparison, the Pad 8 has a smaller 9,200mAh battery. It is also being said that the tablet may feature the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip that powers the previous generation.

According to a report from December, the Pad 9 will receive a wider launch, but the Pad 9 Pro may miss a major market, India. It is being said that the Pro edition may come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. Hopefully, upcoming reports will reveal more details about the Pad 9 models.

While the Pad 9’s model number suggests an October launch, there is a possibility that it may debut earlier in China. To recall, the Pad 8 lineup was announced alongside the Xiaomi 17 series of flagship phones in September 2025. Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 18 family will launch in September in China. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Pad 9 series may go official alongside the Xiaomi 18 lineup.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro tipped to feature 6.47-inch display with hardware privacy screen

22 June 2026 at 07:13
Galaxy-S26-Ultra-Privacy-Display

Samsung’s 2026 Galaxy S26 series was expected to introduce a Galaxy S26 Pro as part of a lineup restructuring to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus. However, as we later covered, those plans did not go ahead, and Samsung kept its usual naming for the S26 series. The Pro model simply did not happen.Β

Now, a new leak from a reliable source suggests Samsung hasn’t scrapped the idea altogether and is instead working on the Galaxy S27 Pro. Words for it come from insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo, who shared screen details of the upcoming flagship.

Privacy Screen in testing for Galaxy S27 Pro

According to Digital Chat Station, the Galaxy S27 Pro will have a 6.47-inch display, comparatively smaller than the S26 Plus’ 6.7-inch screen. It will also include a hardware-level privacy screen, which Samsung kept exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.Β

A hardware privacy screen limits the viewing angles of the display, so people around you cannot easily see what is on your screen.Β

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro Screen Leak

The same leak also points to the Galaxy S27 Ultra coming with a 6.89-inch 2K display that also includes privacy screen functionality.

An interesting claim from the tipster is that Samsung is reportedly not planning to supply this display technology to other manufacturers for now, meaning Apple, which also sources displays for iPhones from Samsung, may not have access to it, at least in the near term.

These are early-stage leaks, and Samsung’s plans have changed before β€” the S26 Pro situation being the best example. It’s best to take these details with a pinch of salt.

We will update this story as new details emerge.

Acer launches super affordable wired gaming headset with 40mm drivers & 7.1 virtual surround sound

22 June 2026 at 03:38
Acer-OHW201-Headset

Acer has released a new wired gaming headset in China, and the main talking point is simply how little it costs. The Acer OHW201 is currently listed on JD.com with a standard retail price of 69 yuan, which converts to about $10.

Acer OHW201 Headset

Acer OHW201 Headset Specifications

The OHW201 uses 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers. These are tuned to provide a clear soundstage with distinct mids and enough bass to help players pick up on standard in-game audio cues like footsteps or environmental noises. It also includes support for 7.1 virtual surround sound, a software-based spatial audio feature meant to help with directional sound positioning during multiplayer matches.

Acer OHW201 Headset

The headset uses a closed-back acoustic design, which provides passive noise isolation to block out regular room noise. To make the headset comfortable to wear for a few hours at a time, Acer went with a floating dual-headband design. The over-ear cups feature cooling cushions made from a layered mix of memory foam, a breathable ventilation layer, and a skin-friendly fabric.

For voice chat, the OHW201 includes a 360-degree omnidirectional microphone. Acer says the mic uses intelligent voice pickup to filter out background noise, which should make it fine for standard Discord calls or multiplayer lobbies. Aesthetically, it looks like a typical gaming headset, complete with dynamic RGB lighting on the earcups. It comes in both black and white color options.

Acer OHW201 Headset

On the technical side, the OHW201 connects via a standard 1.8-meter cable. It has an impedance of 16Ξ© Β±10%, a sensitivity of 95Β±3dB, and a microphone sensitivity of -42Β±3dB.

In related news, Lenovo has recently launched the Legion Y960 gaming headset featuring physical 7.1 surround sound and a detachable microphone.

HMD Luma2 surfaces with renders and key specs: 6000mAh battery, 6.75β€³ HD+ 120Hz display

21 June 2026 at 18:43

Only four months after the launch of the HMD Luma 4G, its successor has already surfaced online with renders and key specifications.

According to reliable tipster smashx_60, the HMD Luma2 comes with a big 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. On the front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. Around the back, you get a 50MP main sensor plus a secondary lens for everyday photos.

Power comes from the Unisoc T7280 processor (basically a rebranded T620). It’s an octa-core chip with two performance cores and six efficiency ones, paired with 4GB of RAM (which can be virtually expanded) and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You can expand it further with a microSD card.

Battery life should be good enough thanks to a hefty 6000mAh cell with 18W wired charging. Other handy features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and Nokia’s OZO Audio technology for better sound. It’ll be available in three colors: Ice Blue, Light Sand, and Midnight Lake.

The Luma2 builds on HMD’s successful partnerships with M-Kopa. M-Kopa’s pay-as-you-go system has helped a lot of people in emerging markets get smartphones by bundling the phone with data, insurance, and other perks.

HMD has been smart about releasing region-specific and carrier-branded phones lately to reach more people. We’re still waiting on full details like exact pricing, full software support, and launch timing, but everything points to an affordable, reliable option coming soon.

For folks in M-Kopa’s main markets, the Luma2 could be a great way to get a smooth 120Hz display and strong battery life without spending a lot. It’ll be interesting to see how this customized version compares to the predecessor and other budget phones once it’s official.

Casio Bold Camo G-Shock watches

Casio is releasing four new G-Shock watches in the US market as part of its new Bold Camo series. The collection originally launched earlier this month in Japan, which received a broader six-model lineup, but the US release is limited to four specific models. As a promotional add-on, Casio is currently including a free camouflage pouch with purchases.

Design Details

The main design update across the four watches is a green camouflage pattern printed onto the resin bands and bezels, which integrates a hidden G-mark logo into the design. Aside from the cosmetic changes, all four models retain the standard specifications expected from the G-Shock line, including physical shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance.

It features a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, and an LED backlight, running on a CR2016 battery estimated to last five years.

The GA-V01CMG-3A costs $210 and is also an analog-digital model, but its primary hardware difference is a much longer battery life. It uses a CR2025 battery rated for approximately 10 years of use. It also features a double LED light system to separately illuminate both the analog face and the digital readout.

The most expensive model in the lineup is the GM-6900CMG-3 at $280. It shares the exact same digital functionality and five-year battery life as the DW-6900, but it replaces the standard resin bezel with a stainless steel one. The metal bezel is finished with multiple polishing techniques, coated with a gold-colored ion plating, and uses partial laser etching to apply the camouflage pattern directly onto the metal.

All four watches are available to purchase now through Casio’s website and standard retail channels.

The Most Stylish Feature Phones You Can Buy in June 2026

21 June 2026 at 14:24
HMD Touch 4G

We are halfway through 2026, and the trend of stepping away from smartphones is still going strong. People are increasingly looking for ways to cut down on screen time, but that doesn’t mean they want to carry around a clunky, poorly designed piece of plastic. The current lineup of feature phones shows that you can disconnect and simplify your tech without giving up on good design.

If you’re looking to downsize your digital life this June, here are a few stylish feature phones that stand out.

HMD Touch 4G

HMD Touch 4G

If you want to cut back on screen time but aren’t quite ready to give up modern conveniences like group chats, the HMD Touch 4G is a practical middle ground. It comes in a nice Cyan or Dark Blue and has a compact, clean design that easily fits in a pocket.

Instead of a traditional keypad, it uses a small 3.2-inch touchscreen. It runs a lightweight operating system with cloud-based apps, meaning you can still use the Express Chat app for video calls, send voice notes, or check the weather over a 4G LTE or Wi-Fi connection. It’s a solid option if you want a simpler device that doesn’t completely cut you off from how your friends and family communicate today.

HMD Barbie Phone 4G

HMD Barbie Phone

If you want a device that feels more like a fun accessory than a piece of tech, the HMD Barbie Phone is a great fit. It’s a bright pink flip phone that leans heavily into early 2000s nostalgia.

It comes with interchangeable back covers, stick-on gems, and a beaded lanyard with charms, allowing you to customize the hardware to your liking. Inside, the software is customized with a Barbie theme and includes simple features like digital balance tips and a Malibu Snake game.

The device has a 2.8-inch main display, a 1.77-inch outer display, a 0.3MP rear camera, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a removable 1450mAh battery. It also supports 4G connectivity.

It’s a very basic phone at its core. You won’t find social media apps here, but it’s designed to be a fun, highly customizable accessory for when you want to leave your main phone at home and just be reachable by call or text.

Nokia 2660 Flip 4G

Nokia 2660 Flip

There is still something satisfying about ending a call by physically snapping a phone shut, and the Nokia 2660 Flip 4G brings that familiar feeling back. Available in straightforward colors like Red, Blue, and Black, it has a classic, ergonomic design that just works.

It features a 2.8-inch inner screen and a 1.77-inch outer display, so you can check who is calling before you decide to open it. The buttons are large and easy to press, and it includes practical hardware features like a dedicated emergency contact button and a built-in FM radio. It’s a reliable, straightforward device for anyone who just wants to make clear 4G calls and send texts without any extra fuss.

Nokia 5310

Nokia-5310-2024

For anyone who remembers the era of dedicated music phones, the Nokia 5310 is a familiar sight. It brings back the old Xpress-Music design, complete with physical music control buttons on the side and dual front-facing speakers. It comes in high-contrast Black/Red and White/Red color combinations.

It’s worth noting that this is a 2G-only device, so it’s strictly for basic calls, texts, and listening to audio. You can load up a MicroSD card with MP3s or listen to the wireless FM radio. With a battery that can last for weeks on standby, it’s a good choice if your main goal is having a portable music player that can occasionally take a phone call.

Oppo Reno 16 series official teasers hint at multiple devices

21 June 2026 at 13:47

Oppo is gearing up to launch the Reno 16 lineup in multiple markets, including Europe and Southeast Asia. Teasers for the series have also appeared in India through the company’s official website, Flipkart, and Amazon. These listings indicate that the brand will launch multiple devices alongside the Reno 16 series.

Oppo Reno 16 series teased in India

The image available on the above-mentioned platforms hints at the arrival of the Reno 16, along with what appears to be the Oppo Bubble accessory and the Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds. For those unaware, the Oppo Bubble is a magnetic, circular AMOLED display that attaches to the back of a smartphone and works as a viewfinder for capturing high-quality selfies using the phone’s rear cameras.

The Oppo Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds will be positioned below the existing Enco Air 5 Pro, which is priced at Rs 4,999 in the Indian market.

Reports have revealed that the Oppo Reno 16 lineup includes multiple models, such as the Reno 16c, Reno 16F, Reno 16 FS, Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16 Pro Mini. However, it appears that not all of these models will be available in every market. As for India, the brand may initially launch the Reno 16 and Reno 16c.

As far as the launch date is concerned, Oppo India has yet to confirm it. However, the brand’s global division has already revealed that the Reno 16 series will be announced on June 26 in Spain and Thailand.

Oppo Find N7 Wide to sport horizontal camera design, crease-free display

21 June 2026 at 11:23
OPPO-Find-N6

Foldable smartphones are entering a new phase, with several brands preparing wider-format devices to compete in the premium segment. While Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide in July, Chinese smartphone makers are also believed to be working on similar products. Oppo is among them, and after key details of its upcoming wide foldable surfaced earlier this month, a new leak has shed more light on the company’s future plans.

Oppo Find N7 Wide’s design tipped

Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu has claimed that Oppo’s next-generation wide foldable phone, which is tentatively called the Oppo Find N7 Wide, could arrive with display technology aimed at making the crease significantly less visible. The tipster also suggested that the device may feature a horizontally arranged camera module on the rear.

The same source also claimed the Oppo Find X10 Ultra is being tested with an ultra-thin bezel design that could deliver a more immersive viewing experience. In addition, it is said to feature a circular rear camera module, continuing a design language that has become familiar across several premium Chinese flagships.

Q1 2027 launch expected

Earlier this month, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that Oppo was testing a new book-style wide foldable phone that could debut in the first quarter of 2027. The prototype was said to feature a foldable inner display measuring around 7.6 inches alongside a 5.5-inch cover screen. Samsung Display and BOE were reportedly involved in panel development.

The same leak claimed that the device could be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Β Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset built on a 2nm process. Oppo is also said to be developing a new-generation hinge mechanism designed to further minimise the display crease, a claim that now appears to align with Smart Pikachu’s latest comments.

Unpatchable vulnerability discovered on several older iPhones, iPads, and three Apple Watch models

21 June 2026 at 10:24

Security researchers just dropped news of a pretty serious hardware vulnerability in some older Apple chips. It affects a bunch of still-popular iPhones, iPads, and other devices, and unfortunately, there’s no software fix possible.

The security firm Paradigm Shift recently published a detailed report and a working proof-of-concept for an exploit they call usbliter8. It targets the SecureROM (the unchangeable boot code baked directly into the processor) on devices with A12, A13, S4, and S5 chips.

The usbliter8 exploit hits models like:

  • iPhone XR, XS, XS Max
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPad Air (3rd gen), iPad mini (5th gen), iPad (8th & 9th gen)
  • Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and the first SE
  • Plus a few others like the 2nd-gen Apple TV 4K and Studio Display

The good news? It doesn’t touch the Secure Enclave, so your passcode and encryption keys should stay protected. It’s also not something a random thief on the street could easily pull off. It needs some technical know-how and direct access to the device. Also note that older A11 devices (like the iPhone 8 and X) aren’t affected, and newer A14 chips and beyond seem safe from this particular attack.

Paradigm Shift worked with Apple before going public. Because the flaw lives in the hardware-level code burned into the silicon during manufacturing, Apple can’t patch it with a software update. Their main advice is basically: consider upgrading to a newer device if security is a big concern for you.

For most regular people who use strong passcodes and don’t leave their phones unattended with strangers, the real-world risk is still pretty low. But if you’re using one of these older devices for work or sensitive stuff, it’s worth thinking about.

As word spreads, expect the jailbreak community to get excited, while Apple focuses on making future chips even tougher.

Google Pixel 8, 9, and 10 series users report touch, 5G, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues after Android 17 update

21 June 2026 at 09:48

Google just dropped Android 17 in mid-June 2026, and it started rolling out to Pixel phones with all sorts of promises: better performance, new AI features, and smoother everything. For a lot of people, though, the excitement didn’t last long. Pretty quickly, users started flooding Reddit, X, and the usual forums with complaints about two big headaches: wonky touchscreens and flaky 5G connections.

The touchscreen issue

Some folks say their phones just stop responding to taps and swipes for random stretches. Others are dealing with something even stranger called β€œgesture inversion,” where swiping up scrolls the screen down, and vice versa. It’s bizarre, and it only started after the Android 17 update.

It’s hitting a wide range of Pixels, especially the new Pixel 10 series, along with the 9, 8, and 7 models. Pixel 6 users seem less affected so far, but it’s still early. The good news? It doesn’t look like a specific hardware problem, which suggests it’s a software glitch from the update itself.

A few people have found temporary relief by turning β€œSmooth Display” (the variable refresh rate setting) off and back on, but it’s not a guaranteed fix. Google has a solid history of squashing these kinds of Pixel bugs pretty fast through monthly updates, so there’s hope a proper patch is already in the works. That said, as of writing, Google has acknowledged the issue but hasn’t released a fix yet.

5G and WiFi connectivity problems

On top of that, plenty of users (particularly on Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 8 Pro, 8a, and even some 6a models) lost their 5G completely after updating. The phones drop down to LTE or lose signal altogether. Some are also seeing missing eSIM profiles after restarts and Wi-Fi networks that refuse to reconnect automatically. Several core Google apps (including the Google app, YouTube, Gmail, Play Store, Google Keep, and Google Photos) are also failing to load or function properly on Wi-Fi.

The Pixel community moderators have a decent workaround for now: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset mobile network settings. It wipes your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data configs (but not your apps or personal stuff), so you’ll have to set everything up again. A lot of people say this brings their 5G back.

If you’re running into these problems, the best thing you can do is report them through the feedback tool built directly into the system settings or in the official Pixel community forums. The more reports Google gets, the faster they usually move.

Samsung deploys ChatGPT Codex to help employees build software, apps, and automation tools

22 June 2026 at 07:51

Samsung is giving OpenAI’s ChatGPT CodexΒ to every employee in its Device eXperience division worldwide, plus every worker in Korea across the full company.

OpenAI is calling it one of its largest enterprise deployments ever. Samsung’s DX division alone spans tens of thousands of people across continents, covering everything from Galaxy phones to home appliances.

As announced by OpenAI, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex are available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all Device eXperience (DX) employees worldwide.

Codex started as a code-writing tool, but Samsung isn’t deploying it only to engineers sitting in front of IDEs. Marketing teams, product developers, manufacturing staff, and anyone with a workflow that could benefit from automation are in scope.

Samsung OpenAI

An employee with zero coding background can theoretically describe what they want and get working software back.

ChatGPT Enterprise is bundled into the deal alongside Codex, covering the knowledge work side: research, drafting, data interpretation, and internal documentation.

Codex can enhance not only developer productivity through tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code, but also the productivity of non-technical teams in their day-to-day work.

The enterprise tier brings security controls and access management, which matters a lot when you’re Samsung and your employees are touching product roadmaps and supply chain data daily.

The relationship between the two companies was already bigger than most people realized. Samsung has been supplying advanced memory chips to OpenAI for next-generation AI infrastructure.

This deployment stretches that partnership into a completely different direction: workforce transformation, internal tooling, the day-to-day mechanics of how 300,000-plus employees actually get work done.

Samsung Art Store expands with over 5,000 4K artworks

22 June 2026 at 05:41

Samsung Art Store now carries more than 5,000 4K artworks from over 800 artists and 80 institutional partners. That’s not a library, but a museum that fits on a wall you already own, available through a single subscription.

At this year’s fair in Basel, Switzerland, running June 18 to 21, Samsung ran the Art Store Lounge. Visitors filled out a short survey about what catches their eye, what they want art to do in a room.

The lounge’s central Art Wall, built from Micro RGB, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame displays, then matched them to one of four curated themes: Geometric, Surreal, Vibrant, or Painterly.

β€œOne attendee said, β€œI was surprised by how well the Vibrant theme matched my taste. The colors looked so rich on the Samsung Art TVs. I could picture one of those pieces bringing so much energy into my home.”.

Samsung’s 2026 Art TV Ambassador is New York artist Daniel Arsham. His custom bezel for The Frame Pro uses stone-like material with raised texture, referencing erosion and topography.

After the fair closed each day, Samsung’s story moved to Gare du Nord for β€œArt Night with Samsung Art TV,” a panel conversation with Arsham, Art Basel Paris Director Karim Crippa, and Samsung Art Store’s Head of Content and Curation Daria Greene.

In Basel, where the art world gathers around what comes next, Samsung Art TV offered a firsthand look at the future of art at home. On screen, a collection can grow with personal curation, new discoveries and the rhythms of daily life.

Samsung’s AI ambitions now depend on winning the HBM race

21 June 2026 at 19:59

Samsung isn’t playing defense anymore; the company’s Device Solutions Division held a closed-door global strategy meeting. To meet its AI ambitions, Samsung prepares to fix the HBM pipeline, lock in the big customers, and stop losing ground.

According to SemiconductorsX (via MojoTrick), the meeting Samsung held on June 18 was focused on HBM3E, the fifth-generation stack Samsung is still trying to push into Nvidia’s supply chain in meaningful volume.

Samsung also mapped out the road ahead on HBM4 and HBM4E, where it claims two notable firsts: mass production of HBM4 began back in February, and samples of seventh-generation HBM4E started shipping to customers last month.

The core agenda was the HBM supply strategy.

Discussions focused on how to expand the supply of 5th-generation HBM3E targeting major Big Tech customers such as Nvidia. Strategies regarding the supply of next-generation lineups (HBM4 and HBM4E) were also devised.

Long-term agreements were also on the table. Leading global firms are tired of supply volatility, so they’re asking for multi-year contracts. Samsung is trying to use those deals to stabilize revenue while adjusting production capacity to match demand.

Additionally, Samsung Foundry, along with System LSI, apparently got some airtime too. Both divisions have been underperforming.

The company has the roadmap, the milestones, and the executive attention; however, it is not yetΒ the kind of unshakeable customer trust that SK Hynix spent years quietly earning.

5 improvements to notice in Samsung One UI 9.0 beta 3

21 June 2026 at 15:26

Earlier this week, Samsung released One UI 9.0 beta 3 for the Galaxy S26 series, and we’ve explored five improvements targeting the system and apps experience. If you are using the One UI beta, tag along and try to notice them by yourself.

Animations

The first thing is smoother animations; pulling down the notifications or quick panel shows a smooth, gradual unfolding of the content. Scrolling through the home screen and the content also feels slightly improved as well.

Camera fix

Users have previously reported this issue for the 30X camera zoom. The problem it used to create is that the focus automatically shifts away from the subject. It sometimes returns and sometimes remains blurred.

Another issue that was addressed in this update is the new camera preview screen, which previously cropped under certain conditions.

Performance

The one thing in this update is obvious, and that is the performance enhancements, specifically, the app openings are smoother and faster than the initial version. The app opening and closing sequence is also aligned with the smoothness.

Blackout bug fix

Last but not least, the random screen blackout bug is fixed with the One UI 9.0 beta 3. We’ve found this bug in the beta 2 while going back and forth through the background apps, but there’s no bug in this area any longer. That’s what I should give Samsung devs credit for resolving.

Battery

The beta 1 and 2 have been slightly offset from the good battery backup, but beta 3 has been performing well in terms of overall battery performance since installation. This experience might vary for testers, but we would like to read your own experience on this matter.

Conclusion

With these improvements, Samsung has really pushed the One UI 9.0 beta program to the next phase. However, there’s always room for more optimizations as we still have rollouts left before the stable release.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro in for review

21 June 2026 at 12:31

This is the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. It launched back in April, and it costs €540 with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Depending on the location, there are a few Pantone colors to choose from: Titan, Zinfandel, Lily White, and Tea. In the box, you'll find the phone, a USB-C cable, and a hard case with MagSafe, which is a nice touch. In keeping with its moniker, the Edge 70 Pro is thin and light, measuring just over 7mm and 190 grams. It's also curved on both sides, which isn't the norm for a slab phone these days. We like the phone's feel in the hand, though it's a bit slippery,...

Casio launches new affordable metal watches with striking blue, green and gold finishes

20 June 2026 at 23:26
Casio MQ-24D and MQ-24G watches

Casio has released a new iteration of its long-standing MQ-24 analog watch, swapping out the traditional resin strap for a stainless steel band. The newly launched MQ-24D and MQ-24G collections are now available in the US, bringing a more formal aesthetic to one of the company’s most basic and recognizable timepieces.

Casio MQ-24D and MQ-24G watches

Design Details

The lineup consists of four distinct models. The silver-tone MQ-24DA series includes three variants: the MQ24DA-1A with a black dial, the MQ24DA-2A with a deep navy blue dial, and the MQ24DA-3A featuring an emerald green dial. For those looking for a different finish, the MQ-24GA collection offers the MQ24GA-1A, which pairs a black dial with a gold ion-plated band and case.

All four watches feature a metallic sunray dial designed to catch and reflect light, paired with raised, three-dimensional metallic indexes. It is a straightforward three-hand analog setup that prioritizes basic legibility over extra features.

From a hardware perspective, Casio is keeping the core specifications identical to the standard MQ-24 line. The watches maintain a compact and slim profile, measuring 38.8 by 34.9 mm with a thickness of just 7.8 mm. Because the main case and bezel are still constructed from resin rather than solid steel, the watches remain exceptionally light at 45 grams, even with the addition of the new metal band. The self-adjustable clasp accommodates wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 205 mm.

Casio MQ-24D and MQ-24G watches

Internally, the watches are powered by a standard SR626SW battery, which Casio estimates will last for approximately three years. The face is protected by standard resin glass, and the watch features basic water resistance suitable for daily wear, meaning it will survive washing your hands or light rain, but it is not intended for swimming or diving.

Pricing and Availability

The new collections are positioned firmly in the budget category. The three silver-tone MQ-24DA models are priced at $54.95, while the gold-tone MQ-24GA-1A carries a slight premium at $64.95. All four models are available to purchase now.

In related news, Casio has recently expanded its US lineup with four new MTP-B185 series watches, while the company also introduced two G-Lide GBX-H5600 models featuring heart rate monitoring and surf-focused tracking tools.

Casio launches four new MTP-B185 series watches in the US

20 June 2026 at 21:29
Casio MTP-B185 watches

Casio has updated its US watch lineup this month with the release of the MTP-B185 series. If you are looking for a straightforward, square-faced analog watch without any smart features, step trackers, or charging cables, these four new models fit that exact description.

Casio MTP-B185 watches

Design Details

The new release includes three silver-tone stainless steel models and one gold-tone version. The differences between the three silver models come down entirely to the dial color. The MTPB185D-2A1V has a dark navy blue dial, the MTPB185D-2A2V uses a lighter ice blue, and the MTPB185D-7AV features a standard silver or white sunburst finish. The fourth model, the MTPB185G-9AV, pairs a champagne gold dial with a gold ion-plated case and band.

Casio MTP-B185 watches
Casio MTP-B185 watches

On the hardware side, Casio is keeping things uniform across the board. All four watches share the exact same case dimensions, measuring 40mm long, 32.5mm wide, and 7.3mm thick. At 7.3mm, they are relatively thin, which should allow them to slide easily under a shirt cuff. They weigh 80 grams, a standard weight for a stainless steel watch of this size, making them noticeable but not overly heavy on the wrist.

The feature set is as basic as it gets for an analog watch. The dial features a standard three-hand time display and a small date window. The watch face is covered by mineral glass, which is typical for this price bracket and offers standard scratch resistance, though it will not be as durable as sapphire crystal.

Casio MTP-B185 watches
Casio MTP-B185 watches

For water resistance, the MTP-B185 series is rated at 50 meters, or 5 bar. In practical terms, this means the watches can handle rain, hand washing, and light swimming, but they aren’t built for diving or high-pressure water activities. The stainless steel bands feature an adjustable clasp designed to fit wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 205 mm.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing is kept firmly in the budget category. The three silver models, the navy blue, ice blue, and silver sunburst, are priced at $100 each. The gold ion-plated version costs slightly more at $120 to account for the surface treatment. All four models are currently available for purchase in the US.

In related news, Casio has recently launched two G-Lide GBX-H5600 surf watches equipped with heart rate tracking, while its Japanese red lantern-inspired G-Shock collection has also made its way to the US market.

Qualcomm’s 2nm Android flagship chipset will come in two versions with LPDDR5X/LPDDR6 memory

20 June 2026 at 17:53
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

It looks like Qualcomm is testing two versions of the next Snapdragon flagship: a standard model that supports LPDDR5X memory and a higher-end β€œPro” variant with faster LPDDR6 memory. Both versions share the same core clock speeds, so the big difference comes down to memory type. The Pro model also brings UFS 5.0 storage support, giving it enough power to handle almost anything you can throw at it.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

This chipset is expected to be the most powerful 2nm Android SoC so far, targeting premium β€œUltra” flagships coming in 2027. It’ll be manufactured on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which should bring solid gains in both performance and battery efficiency compared to previous generations.

The catch is likely the price. The top-tier Pro version could cost manufacturers over $300 per unit. That’s why Qualcomm is offering this flexible approach: brands can choose the more affordable LPDDR5X version for slightly cheaper flagships or go all-in with LPDDR6 for maximum bandwidth and better on-device AI performance.

Early block diagrams show the usual high-end layout, with a stronger GPU (rumored to be the Adreno 850 in the Pro) and solid multi-core performance. As usual, we’ll probably see binned versions later on, possibly with 7-core CPU setups for different price points.

Overall, this dual-version strategy feels like a smart response to the rising costs in the premium segment. The LPDDR6 models will go after the absolute top-tier buyers, while the LPDDR5X versions could bring near-flagship experiences to a slightly wider audience.

We should hear more official details later in 2026. If the rumors hold up, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro looks set to power the next wave of truly high-end Android phones, balancing raw power with the practical realities manufacturers are facing right now.

Nothing hints at a Phone (4b) after cancelling CMF Phone 3 Pro

20 June 2026 at 16:16

In classic Nothing fashion, the company just dropped another cryptic teaser. Just hours after confirming they’re skipping a new CMF smartphone in 2026 because of rising component costs, Nothing’s official X account posted a single mysterious character: β€œ(b)”. The timing feels far from random, and fans are already speculating it’s a hint at something new coming to the main smartphone lineup.

The teaser follows co-founder Akis Evangelidis’ candid explanation that skyrocketing RAM and storage prices made a proper successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro nearly impossible without raising prices or cutting corners, something the budget-focused brand didn’t want to do.

Instead of going silent, Nothing quickly shifted gears with this teaser. The teaser has sparked speculation about a possible Nothing Phone (4b). It would sit alongside the recently launched Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro, potentially filling a gap in their mid-range lineup. Interestingly, Nothing hasn’t released a full flagship Phone (4) this year, keeping the Phone (3) as their current top model while focusing more on the accessible β€œa” series.

A β€œb” variant would be new territory for the brand: they’ve mostly stuck to regular numbers and β€œa” suffixes until now. Some people think it could be a refreshed mid-ranger with upgrades like a better Glyph interface, improved cameras, or stronger battery life. Others are keeping their options open, wondering if it might not even be a phone, maybe a new audio product (like earbuds or headphones) under a β€œb” series.

Either way, this is pure Nothing: playful, minimalist teasers that get the community guessing and talking. With reports of softer-than-expected sales for the Phone (3) in some markets, leaning harder into smart mid-range options makes a lot of sense, especially with the current component price challenges.

It feels like more clues are coming soon. One thing’s for sure: Nothing is not planning to slow down. Whether it’s a Phone (4b) or something totally unexpected, the next few weeks should be interesting.

Portronics launches new compact 10,000mAh power bank with an integrated USB-C cable

20 June 2026 at 15:35
Portronics Aero 10

Portronics has released a new portable charger in India, the Aero 10. It is a 10,000mAh power bank that supports 20W charging and features an integrated USB-C cable. The device is positioned as a straightforward utility accessory for users who want to avoid carrying separate charging cables for their daily electronics.

Portronics Aero 10

Portronics Aero 10 Specifications

Instead of the usual rectangular slab design common to most power banks, the Aero 10 uses a square shape with rounded corners and a standard matte exterior. It weighs 245 grams, which is typical for a 10,000mAh battery pack, and is small enough to fit into most pockets or small bag compartments without taking up much space. Portronics is selling the device in three standard colors: Black, Navy Blue, and Mocha.

The power bank comes with a built-in, flat-braided USB-C cable. This cable handles both power output to charge your devices and power input to recharge the power bank itself. It also physically loops into the chassis to act as a lanyard for carrying. In addition to the integrated cable, there is a standard USB-C port on the device, which also supports two-way charging. This dual setup allows users to plug in a second cable and charge two devices simultaneously.

Portronics Aero 10
Portronics Aero 10

Regarding performance, the Aero 10 maxes out at 20W via USB Power Delivery (PD). While 20W is not particularly fast compared to the higher-wattage chargers available today, it is sufficient for standard fast charging on most modern Android smartphones, as well as smaller accessories like wireless earbuds, tablets, and smartwatches. It will not be adequate for charging larger hardware like laptops.

Pricing and Availability

The Portronics Aero 10 is available now in India. The official retail price is listed at Rs. 2,499 ($26), but it is currently available at a launch price of Rs. 1,249 ($13).

It can be purchased through the Portronics website, Amazon India, Flipkart, and physical retail stores. The power bank comes with a standard 12-month manufacturer warranty.

In related news, Ugreen has recently introduced a 45W 10,000mAh smart power bank featuring a built-in USB-C cable and color display, while Portronics launched a 20,000mAh power bank with 35W fast charging, integrated cables, and an LED display.

AISpeech has introduced a new dedicated voice recorder in China, the TalkNote Flagship AI Recording Card, priced at 1,299 yuan (around $192). The device is designed to handle audio recording, transcription, and cloud syncing in a form factor small enough to fit inside a wallet or a standard office badge holder.

AISpeech TalkNote AI voice recorder

AISpeech TalkNote Specifications

Physically, the TalkNote measures 86 x 55 x 4.5 mm and weighs 43 grams, giving it the approximate footprint of a credit card. It features a grey finish and includes a small 0.95-inch AMOLED display. The screen is straightforward, used primarily for checking battery life and current recording status rather than navigating complex menus.

For audio capture, the device relies on a five-microphone array consisting of four omnidirectional microphones and a single bone-conduction microphone. According to AISpeech, this hardware combination allows for clear voice pickup within a five-meter radius, with a maximum effective range of eight meters. It also utilizes onboard noise reduction to filter out ambient background sound in busy environments.

AISpeech TalkNote AI voice recorder

The device comes with built-in 4G, alongside standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. AISpeech includes lifetime free 4G data specifically for cloud synchronization. This allows the device to automatically upload audio files to the cloud as soon as a recording session ends, meaning users don’t have to manually transfer files to a computer or phone via the included USB-C port. The device is powered by a 750mAh battery, which the company says provides up to 45 hours of continuous recording and 60 days of standby time.

On the software side, the TalkNote is built around automated transcription. It supports 25 foreign languages and 57 Chinese dialects, and it can automatically switch between Chinese and English during a conversation. AISpeech claims a transcription accuracy rate of up to 98% under supported conditions. Once the audio is uploaded, the companion software can generate meeting summaries, identify different speakers, and extract action items.

The device comes with 64GB of internal storage and includes a three-month subscription to AISpeech’s OfficeClaw platform, which manages the AI-generated notes and tasks.

China’s GLM-5.2 beats Claude Fable 5 in web design, claims No. 1 spot

20 June 2026 at 12:59

In a pretty big surprise for the AI world, China’s Zhipu AI’s latest model, GLM-5.2, just grabbed the top spot in one of the most respected creative coding benchmarks out there.

On June 19, 2026, Design Arena announced on X that GLM-5.2 has taken the #1 position in their single-round HTML web design leaderboard (non-agent category). The platform, basically the world’s first big crowdsourced benchmark where real people blindly vote on AI-generated designs, says it beat out Claude Fable 5, along with the Opus 4.6 and 4.7 versions. That’s a solid five-place jump from its predecessor, GLM-5.1, landing it with an Elo score around 1360 in the Code Categories arena.

What makes this win stand out is how the model actually designs. It’s apparently excellent at clean layouts, pulling in images from CDNs, typography, visual hierarchy, and those nice subtle animations that make a site feel alive. It also plays really nicely with popular libraries like Chart.js and Three.js. According to the results, it boosted its win rate by about 6 percentage points this time around.

One interesting detail: GLM-5.2 leans heavily on Tailwind CSS (showing up in 91% of its designs) and Font Awesome (51%). By comparison, Fable 5 only used Tailwind in about 57% of its sessions, which might explain some of the practical gaps people noticed.

Beyond the design quality, the pricing is a breath of fresh air. GLM-5.2’s API runs around $1.40 per million input tokens and $4.40 for output, way more affordable than Fable 5’s $10/$50. Plus, it’s an open-weights model under the MIT license with a solid 1M-token context window, which means teams can run it locally and tackle bigger, longer projects without being locked into a proprietary service.

Design Arena’s approach gives these results real weight: millions of votes from actual creators focused on real aesthetics and usability, not just synthetic tests. This isn’t just a win for web design; it puts GLM-5.2 among the strongest open models across broader coding benchmarks too.

For the AI community, this feels like another sign that Chinese labs are moving fast in specialized creative areas. While Claude Fable 5 is a strong player, GLM-5.2’s mix of strong performance, low cost, and openness could make it a go-to choice for a lot of web development teams going forward.

GPT-5.6 Rumors Intensify as OpenAI Reportedly Prepares Major AI Upgrade

20 June 2026 at 12:42
GPT 5.6

OpenAI may be getting ready to launch its next-generation AI model, GPT-5.6, as early as next week, according to reports circulating among testers and AI enthusiasts. While the company has not officially confirmed the model, growing speculation suggests that GPT-5.6 could bring major improvements in reasoning, coding, and long-context understanding.

The rumored lineup is expected to include GPT-5.6 Mini, GPT-5.6 Standard, and GPT-5.6 Pro. Several OpenAI Pro subscribers have claimed they already received access to a newer model through GPT-5.5 Pro, fueling speculation that OpenAI is quietly testing GPT-5.6 before a public launch.

Users Claim ChatGPT Suddenly Feels Smarter

The latest wave of rumors began when many ChatGPT users reported noticeable improvements in the platform’s performance. Testers on X claimed the AI appeared more capable in reasoning, coding, and creative tasks.

Developer Anshu Chimala shared side-by-side comparisons of AI-generated landing pages and said the outputs were significantly better than previous versions. Other early testers reported that the model required fewer corrections and delivered stronger first-attempt results.

Several users also suggested that the AI now spends more time thinking before responding, leading to higher-quality outputs despite slower generation speeds.

source: x.com/anshuc/

Improved Reasoning and Problem-Solving

One of the biggest rumored upgrades is a major improvement in reasoning capabilities. Early feedback suggests GPT-5.6 can better understand complex instructions, plan multi-step tasks, and solve difficult problems with fewer mistakes.

Testers reported that projects which previously required multiple revisions and 20 to 40 minutes of work can now be completed more efficiently. While some front-end web development limitations reportedly remain, users describe the model as showing deeper understanding and more reliable decision-making.

According to leaked information, OpenAI may have increased an internal reasoning parameter known as β€œJuice Value” from 768 to 960, potentially contributing to stronger performance.

Larger Context Window Could Reach 1.5 Million Tokens

Another major rumor centers on a substantial context window upgrade. Reports suggest GPT-5.6 could expand the maximum context length from 1 million tokens to 1.5 million tokens.

If accurate, the increase would allow the model to process larger codebases, longer conversations, extensive research documents, and more complex workflows within a single session. Developers could benefit from improved memory and continuity when working on large projects.

Stronger Coding and Agent Capabilities

Coding performance appears to be one of the primary areas of improvement. Early testers claim GPT-5.6 delivers better code understanding, stronger planning abilities, and more reliable execution across multi-step development tasks.

Some reports suggest the model performs particularly well in agent-based coding workflows and software development benchmarks. Testers also highlighted improvements in SVG generation, 3D design creation, and robotic simulation tasks.

According to several users, GPT-5.6 Pro may outperform some competing models in coding-related benchmarks, although results vary depending on the specific test.

Higher Quality Comes With Slower Responses

Not all feedback has focused on speed. Some testers reported that GPT-5.6 takes considerably longer to complete demanding tasks.

In one example, developer Conor Dart used the model to create a browser-based 3D game with physics simulation and camera controls. The generation process reportedly took more than an hour but produced significantly better results than previous versions.

source: x.com/Conor_D_Dart/

Benchmarker Chris compared GPT-5.6 Pro against GPT-5.5 Extra High and found that while GPT-5.6 generated higher-quality outputs, it required substantially more time to finish the task. This has led many testers to conclude that OpenAI may be prioritizing reasoning quality over raw speed.

Competition in the AI Race Continues

The rumored release comes at a time of intense competition in the AI industry. Chinese AI models such as GLM-5.2 and Anthropic’s latest systems are pushing the boundaries of coding and agent performance.

Reports indicate OpenAI may respond not only with stronger models but also with more aggressive pricing. Some sources claim OpenAI’s current token costs are already significantly lower than Anthropic’s, and further reductions could increase pressure across the AI market.

Industry observers believe a combination of lower costs and improved performance could help OpenAI strengthen its position among developers and enterprise customers.

Possible Launch Date Emerges

Several rumors point to June 25 as a possible launch date. Some testers believe OpenAI is currently conducting stealth A/B testing through GPT-5.5 Pro, allowing the company to gather real-world feedback before a wider rollout.

Prediction market traders have also shown growing confidence in a release during the week of June 22 to June 28, with some forecasts assigning high probabilities to a launch within that period.

OpenAI Has Not Confirmed the Reports

Despite the growing excitement, OpenAI has not officially confirmed the existence of GPT-5.6, its specifications, pricing, or launch schedule.

Most of the current information comes from social media reports, alleged leaks, early tester feedback, and industry speculation. Until OpenAI makes an official announcement, all details regarding GPT-5.6 should be treated as unconfirmed.

If the rumors prove accurate, GPT-5.6 could represent a significant step forward for OpenAI’s AI platform. Early reports point to stronger reasoning, better coding performance, larger context windows, and improved agent capabilities. While the model may take longer to generate responses, testers suggest the trade-off could be worth it for users seeking higher-quality results. For now, the AI community is waiting to see whether OpenAI officially unveils GPT-5.6 in the coming days.

OnePlus N6 Geekbench listing confirms chipset days before launch

20 June 2026 at 12:09

With just days to go before the big reveal, OnePlus is getting everyone talking about its upcoming budget smartphone, the N6.

Positioned as a more wallet-friendly option below the Nord series, the phone (model CPH2955) seems to prioritize real-world usability over flashy specs. It recently popped up on Geekbench, confirming it’s powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chipset, an octa-core processor with two performance Cortex-A76 cores (up to 2.4 GHz) and six efficiency-focused A55 cores, paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.

In the tests, it scored around 780 in single-core and 2,000 in multi-core while running Android 16 with 6GB of RAM. Nothing mind-blowing, but sufficient for everyday tasks like scrolling through social media, streaming, and light multitasking. These scores are also right in line with what we’ve seen from the Dimensity 6300 in other phones.

The real star here is the battery. OnePlus has already confirmed an 8,000 mAh monster, apparently the biggest in the β‚Ή15,000–₹25,000 range. The company claims you can get up to three days of typical use out of it, and they’re promising the battery will stay healthy for up to seven years. It supports 45W SuperVOOC fast charging, so when you do need to top up, it won’t take forever.

The phone is set to launch in India on June 30, 2026, in black and green colors, with sales going live on Amazon. While we still don’t have the full specs (especially the display and cameras), the early signs point to a phone that focuses on reliable daily performance, smooth OxygenOS 16, and that massive battery life.

This feels like a smart move from OnePlus. Instead of trying to compete on flagship features, they’re doubling down on what actually matters to a lot of regular users.

We’ll know a lot more once the official event happens, but right now the N6 is looking like a solid, no-nonsense pick for anyone who wants long-lasting battery life and decent performance without breaking the bank.

If your Xiaomi device is on the list, it’s almost certain to receive the HyperOS 4 update.

It’s important to note that the brand hasn’t announced update policies for many devices, particularly entry-level and budget phones, making it difficult to know whether they will receive Android 17 updates. To keep the list as accurate as possible, we skipped devices that we weren’t confident about.

Xiaomi HyperOS 4 release date

While an exact release date hasn’t been announced, Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the HyperOS 4 will be unveiled in July or August. This likely refers to the China launch, while the global announcement may follow after a few weeks.

As always, there will be a beta program first before the stable version rolls out to the public. Leakster Digital Chat Station has revealed the phones that will be a part of the first batch of the HyperOS 4 beta program in China. This includes:

  • Xiaomi 17
  • Xiaomi 17 Pro
  • Xiaomi 17 Pro Max
  • Xiaomi 17 Ultra
  • Xiaomi 17 Max
  • Redmi K90
  • Redmi K90 Pro Max
  • Redmi K90 Pro Max Champion Edition

Last year, Xiaomi unveiled HyperOS 3 in China in August, followed by a global launch in September. It will likely follow the same timeline this year for HyperOS 4, so we can expect the global rollout to begin in October 2026.

What to expect from HyperOS 4?

While the official launch is still a few weeks away, several leaks have surfaced online, revealing what’s to come. They suggest Xiaomi is focusing heavily on a β€œZero-Legacy” framework built on Android 17. Under this framework, Xiaomi is aggressively purging old legacy code and SDKs to reduce system bloat.

Xiaomi is reportedly rewriting core system applications and frameworks using Rust and Flutter to improve memory safety, background optimization, and cross-device UI consistency. This will also help the software achieve lower RAM usage, faster boot times, and reduced animation stutters.

The company offered a glimpse of its liquid-glass design in HyperOS 3, which is expected to be integrated more deeply into HyperOS 4, featuring fluid aesthetics, glossy overlays, frosted-glass transparency, and advanced bounce animations. A leak suggests Xiaomi could extend the partnership with Leica to introduce the Leica-inspired color palette in HyperOS 4.

Several leakers say Xiaomi could integrate a privacy screen feature that narrows the viewing angle, similar to how Privacy Display works on the Galaxy S26. The difference is that Samsung’s implementation uses hardware, while Xiaomi is reportedly trying to achieve the same via software. It will be exciting to compare both.

Furthermore, HyperOS 4 is expected to feature smarter cross-device multitasking, highly optimized background task management, and deeper contextual AI productivity features for daily workflows.

In addition to these features and many moreΒ we still don’t know about, the next major upgrade for Xiaomi devices will include many features and upgrades from the development team at Google. This appears to be an exciting update package, and like you, we can’t wait to test it out.

We’ll keep you posted as we receive fresh details. You can visit theΒ Xiaomi sectionΒ on this website to stay updated, or simplyΒ join our Telegram channelΒ to receive instant notifications.

Nothing cancels successor to CMF Phone 2 Pro amid soaring RAM prices

20 June 2026 at 10:32

In a refreshingly honest move, Nothing’s sub-brand CMF has decided to skip launching a new phone in 2026. Fans hoping for a successor to the well-liked CMF Phone 2 Pro will have to wait a bit longer.

The main reason? Skyrocketing memory prices. Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis confirmed that the team had been working on a follow-up, but rising costs for DRAM and storage made it tough to deliver a meaningful upgrade without pushing the price much higher, something that would go against CMF’s whole budget-friendly identity.

For context, the CMF Phone 2 Pro (launched in 2025) was praised for offering good value: a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset, a 120Hz AMOLED display, decent cameras, and solid battery life, all for around €259 or β‚Ή18,999. But reports show memory prices jumped over 90% in early 2026, largely because of massive demand from AI data centers. That made the numbers just not add up.

Evangelidis put it pretty straightforwardly: β€œWe’d rather be upfront about that than ship something we’re not proud of.” It’s a refreshing bit of transparency in an industry that often rushes out half-baked updates.

This isn’t just a CMF problem either. The main Nothing brand is feeling the same pressure: CEO Carl Pei has talked about memory costs nearly doubling and affecting phones like the Phone (4a). Across the board, brands are slowing down launches or rethinking their entry-level and mid-range plans to keep things affordable.

That said, CMF isn’t going quiet. They’ve already teased new products and even completely fresh categories coming later in 2026. Meanwhile, tipster Yogesh Brar has hinted that the shelved project might resurface as something like a β€œNothing Phone (4a) Lite,” possibly launching as soon as next month. That could give them more pricing flexibility in the mid-range (around β‚Ή25,000 and above).

For now, the current CMF Phone 2 Pro might stay a strong recommendation for longer than expected. And we’ll be keeping an eye on what Nothing and CMF drop next.

Weekly poll: what device do you use for gaming? A smartphone, tablet, PC or console?

21 June 2026 at 09:00

The gaming market has had a rough go of it this decade – first COVID slowed down the rollout of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, then the crypto boom vacuumed up available GPUs, now AI has made RAM chips the new gold. This has led to smartphone makers rising prices, but PCs and consoles are just as affected – the PS5, the Xbox, the Steam Deck and the Nintendo Switch all got more expensive. And that’s just some of the more high-profile products. Services are feeling the pain too – Microsoft wanted to raise the price of Game Pass, but changed its mind after loud complaints from...

Weekly poll results: iOS 27 is okay, just okay

21 June 2026 at 05:33

iOS 27 was met with a resounding β€œit’s okay” in last week’s poll. Okay, the sentiment among iPhone users actually leans towards positive, but most voters couldn’t work up enough enthusiasm for it to pick the β€œlove it” option. To be fair, this release was focused on sanding off the rough edges of the major Liquid Glass redesign and on finally delivering on promises about AI features that Apple made a long while ago. Remember all the Apple Intelligence demos during the iPhone 16 launch? Yeah, Siri AI is launching later this year, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models. Even if you...

Netlist demands ban on Samsung HBM and DRAM in the US

20 June 2026 at 16:35

Netlist has filed complaints at the US International Trade Commission and the Eastern District of Texas, seeking an import ban on Samsung HBM and DDR5 RDIMM and MRDIMM DRAM AI memory product lines.

It’s demanding import bans (via SemiconductorsX) and sales prohibitions across the board, and it didn’t stop at Samsung. Notably, Google, NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Supermicro are also named alongside Samsung in the complaint filed by Netlist.

The patents at the center of this are U.S. Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937, both registered this year. The β€˜537 covers vertically stacked memory dies with TSV structures, the core architecture inside every HBM chip Samsung ships.

The β€œ937” covers a clock driver trick that repurposes an error signal line during initialization. Neither one, Netlist argues, is a JEDEC standard-essential patent, so Samsung can’t hide behind RAND licensing terms.

Samsung and Netlist signed a joint development deal back in 2015. Samsung walked in 2020. Two Texas juries have since handed Netlist $303 million and $118 million in willful infringement verdicts. Samsung kept shipping anyway.

Samsung Electronics previously entered into a licensing agreement with Netlist in 2015 but breached it in 2020. Despite twice receiving verdicts of willful patent infringement and damages awards (amounting to $303 million and $118 million, respectively) from federal juries in Texas, Samsung continues to import the infringing products into the United States.

C.K. Hong, CEO of Netlist, stated, β€œNetlist continues to lead innovative breakthroughs in the AI memory sector. This legal action expands our efforts to protect next-generation server DIMM and HBM technologies from unauthorized use.”

Samsung’s HBM3E is inside NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs. Those GPUs are inside data centers that half the AI industry depends on. A successful exclusion order wouldn’t just sting Samsung; it would have a very broad impact.

Samsung’s partnership with TikTok-like short-video platformΒ turned into $3 million dispute

20 June 2026 at 15:36

Samsung isn’t the kind of company you stiff on a contract and walk away from clean; Triller learned that lesson the hard way, and it’s still learning it.

According to TheBiz, Samsung is seeking nearly $3 million from Triller after the short-video platform allegedly failed to pay for a Galaxy app promotion deal.

The dispute began in December 2020, when Samsung and Triller signed an agreement where Samsung would promote Triller’s app on Galaxy smartphones, with Triller paying based on installations.

Payments were made initially, but between April and September 2021, Triller stopped paying, leaving $1.81 million in unpaid principal.

Samsung filed for ICC arbitration in July 2022. Triller argued that some installations were generated by bots and raised concerns about suspicious traffic, but the company never completed its defense. Its legal counsel withdrew.

Triller did not submit a response or request a hearing; the ICC ruled in Samsung’s favor. Samsung then moved to enforce the award in the US federal court, where the Central District of California confirmed the judgment in May 2024.

With interest, arbitration costs, and legal fees added, the amount reached nearly $3 million.

The case continued after Triller’s parent company, Triller Group, listed a roughly $3 million β€œSamsung Arbitration Award” liability in its 2025 SEC filing.

Samsung used that disclosure to seek to add Triller Group as a judgment debtor, but the court denied the request due to procedural issues, allowing Samsung to refile after proper notice.

Triller Group was delisted from Nasdaq in December 2024 and continues facing creditor pressure. Samsung is pursuing enforcement through asset tracing and legal measures, showing the company is not ready to abandon the unpaid debt.

Gmktec teases Evo-X3 Mini PC with Ryzen AI Max+ 395 & OCuLink, launching on June 29

20 June 2026 at 01:49
Gmktec Evo-X3 Mini PC

Gmktec is preparing to release the Evo-X3, a new compact mini PC aimed heavily at local AI workloads and creative professionals. Slated for a global launch on June 29, the Evo-X3 shares much of its underlying hardware with the recently released Evo-X2 but introduces a few key hardware and software additions designed for users who need more scalability.

What to expect?

Inside the PS4-sized chassis, the Evo-X3 is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU. This chip features 16 cores and 32 threads built on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture, alongside integrated Radeon 8060S graphics based on RDNA 3.5. GMKtec is offering the system with up to 128GB of 8000MHz LPDDR5X memory and up to 4TB of storage via dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots.

The main hardware change from the previous model is the OCuLink (PCIe Gen4 x4) connection. The integrated Radeon graphics are fine for standard use, but the OCuLink port allows you to connect an external RTX 40 or 50-series GPU. This gives the PC a straightforward upgrade path if you need to handle heavier 3D rendering or compute tasks later on.

On the software side, GMKtec is bundling the Evo-X3 with its Claw+Wrangler AI ecosystem. The company is leaning hard into the concept of the local AI workstation, positioning the 128GB RAM configuration as a way to run massive language models, like the 235 billion parameter Qwen3, entirely offline.

Gmktec Evo-X3 Mini PC

To handle the thermal load of the 140W APU, the Evo-X3 uses a triple heat-pipe cooling system with dual fans, which the company claims can maintain performance without excessive noise. Connectivity includes WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a 2.5GbE LAN port.

Design-wise, the X3 opts for a graphite gray chassis with clean surfaces and side-integrated ventilation. It is noticeably slimmer and appears optimized strictly for vertical placement to minimize its desk footprint, resembling a compact enterprise node rather than a gaming rig.

Early access registration for the Evo-X3 opens on June 22nd, which includes a minor $20 discount, ahead of the full launch on June 29th. Gmktec hasn’t announced the exact pricing for the X3 yet. However, given that the similarly equipped Evo-X2 currently sells for around $2,000, the X3 is expected to land in a similar premium price bracket.

In related news, Peladn has recently unveiled the HO5 Mini PC featuring AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor and an OCuLink port, while Minisforum has introduced its Panther Lake-powered M2 Pro and MS-03 mini PCs with up to 180 TOPS of AI performance.

Galaxy M47 5G teaser confirms imminent launch; claims improved durability, gaming, and multitasking

20 June 2026 at 00:32

Samsung is gearing up to refresh its popular M-series with the new Galaxy M47 5G, aimed squarely at budget-conscious buyers in India who want a modern look.

The company has already started building excitement by dropping teaser videos on X. From what we can see, the phone looks pretty premium, especially in that matte Red/Maroon finish on the back, paired with a black frame. There’s a pill-shaped camera island with matching red accents, and the triple rear camera setup sits in a slightly updated module compared to the M36 5G. Samsung is calling it the β€œNext Level Monster,” which suggests they’ve made some meaningful upgrades in performance, gaming, multitasking, and overall durability.

While the full specs are still under wraps, a Geekbench listing (for model SM-M476B) gives us a good peek inside. It looks like the M47 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, come with 8GB of RAM, and run Android 16. That should translate to smooth everyday use, decent multitasking, and respectable gaming for this price range.

Other leaks point to a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz flat AMOLED display, a 50MP main camera with OIS, and a 5,000–6,000mAh battery. Samsung is also likely to offer solid long-term software updates.

The Galaxy M47 5G will land on Amazon India and Samsung’s official website sometime soon. It’ll aim to go head-to-head with phones from iQOO, REDMI, and others in the crowded mid-range space. Samsung’s plan seems to be winning people over with a nice mix of style and reliable performance.

As more details drop in the coming days, it’ll be interesting to see how this one shapes up. If the final phone delivers on these promises, it could be a strong contender for anyone looking for value in the Indian market.

Huawei commanded 40% of the Chinese smartwatch market in Q1 2026

19 June 2026 at 23:29

The global smartwatch market keeps growing steadily. Shipments are up modestly, and people are willing to pay a bit more for newer models packed with better health tracking, AI features, and connectivity options.

According to Counterpoint Research, global smartwatch shipments grew 4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026. At the same time, the average selling price jumped 6%, thanks to more advanced sensors, AI capabilities, 5G RedCap, satellite connectivity, and a general shift toward premium devices.

Apple continues to lead the pack worldwide with a 23% market share. The company also saw the fastest growth among the top brands, with shipments rising 21% compared to last year. Analyst Anshika Jain pointed out that the Apple Watch SE 3 has been a big hit, pulling in new users with its more affordable price and upgraded health features like better sleep tracking, mood monitoring, and arrhythmia detection.

China is turning into one of the strongest growth markets, with smartwatch shipments jumping 15% year-on-year. Huawei dominates there with roughly 40% market share, followed by Imoo and Xiaomi. Huawei’s success comes from offering watches across many price ranges, tight integration with its HarmonyOS ecosystem, and a strong focus on health features like sleep tracking, emotional wellbeing, and arrhythmia detection. Government subsidies on electronics have also helped boost upgrades and wider adoption.

Thanks to its strong performance in China, Huawei holds a solid 17% global market share, putting it in second place overall.

As AI and smarter sensors become standard, smartwatches are clearly moving toward more intelligent, health-focused devices. The market still has good momentum, especially in key regions, but companies will have to navigate supply issues and pricing challenges as competition heats up.

Pixel 10’s Gemini-powered Gmail feature blocks keyboard, making email replies impossible

19 June 2026 at 22:46

Google’s latest Pixel flagships are running into a frustrating software bug that’s breaking one of the most basic things you do on a phone: replying to emails.

According to reports from Android Authority and plenty of complaints on Reddit, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold owners are hitting this weird issue in the Gmail app. When you tap to reply to an email, the AI-powered β€œHelp me write” feature (powered by Gemini) jumps in and completely blocks the on-screen keyboard (Gboard) from appearing. Instead, you’re stuck looking at the AI suggestion box with almost no easy way to type normally.

On the Pixel 10 Pro XL, there’s a clunky workaround: you can tap the keyboard hide button in the bottom-left corner and then keep tapping the reply field until the keyboard finally shows up. But it’s worse on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The cursor disappears in the reply field, taps do nothing, and you’re basically forced to use the AI tool.

The bug seems linked to recent updates and Google’s strong push to promote the AI writing assistant in Gmail. Normally, β€œHelp me write” is something you can choose to use, but on these affected Pixels it overrides regular typing. Interestingly, Android Authority couldn’t reproduce the problem on other Android phones like the vivo X300 FE or OnePlus 15, and the iOS version of Gmail works fine.

This popped up not long after Google’s June 2026 Pixel Drop, which brought Android 17 and deeper AI features to the Pixel 10 series. While tools like Gemini are meant to make life easier, this glitch shows how tricky it can be to blend smart AI features with the simple, reliable stuff we all expect.

A lot of users are venting on forums and looking for fixes. Some have found temporary relief by turning off certain Gemini options in the Gmail settings. Google hasn’t commented officially yet, but with so many reports coming in, a software patch is probably on the way.

Samsung confirms Exynos 2700 development, eyes Galaxy S27 series

19 June 2026 at 20:17

Samsung is apparently making solid progress on its next in-house flagship chipset. According to reports, the company is getting serious about using more Exynos processors in its premium Galaxy S phones. This is a step in their ongoing effort to rely less on outside chipmakers while improving performance and efficiency.

In a recent briefing, Samsung executive Park Yong-in (President and Head of the System LSI Business) confirmed that development of the Exynos 2700 is β€œproceeding without setbacks.” He made it clear they want to use it in their top-tier smartphones. While he didn’t name specific models, most people expect it to power the Galaxy S27 series, which should arrive in early 2027.

This is one of the strongest official hints we’ve gotten about the Exynos 2700 so far. It’s expected to go up against Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (or whatever the next high-end chip is), and Samsung will probably stick with its usual dual-chip strategy: using Exynos in some regions and Snapdragon in others.

On the technical side, there are some promising improvements. Unlike the previous generation, the Exynos 2700 is expected to use a side-by-side (SBS) layout where the processor and DRAM sit together on the same substrate. A special Heat Path Block (basically a better heat sink) will cover both, which should bring better thermal management, up to 30-40% higher memory bandwidth, improved efficiency, and more consistent performance when the phone is working hard.

Samsung has had some past struggles with Exynos chips in flagships, things like manufacturing yields and overheating, which is why they weren’t used everywhere. The new chip, built on an enhanced 2nm process, is aiming to finally close the gap with Qualcomm, especially in single-core speed, while potentially doing even better in multi-core and sustained tasks.

Challenges like high manufacturing costs and Qualcomm’s strong ecosystem still exist. As the Galaxy S27 lineup comes together, how well the Exynos 2700 performs will be a major factor in Samsung’s ability to deliver great flagships that are also profitable.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro delivers a more premium appearance with its eco-leather rear panel, slim profile, and IP68/IP69 protection. It also carries MIL-STD-810H certification, adding an extra layer of durability for users who spend time outdoors. The design feels modern and stylish while remaining practical for everyday handling.

The Google Pixel 10a takes a more straightforward approach with an aluminum frame and plastic back. Its build quality remains solid, and the IP68 rating ensures reliable protection against water and dust. The compact form factor makes it easier to use with one hand, which many users may prefer for daily convenience.

Display Quality

Motorola clearly prioritizes display specifications. Its 6.78-inch AMOLED panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR content, and an extremely bright 5200-nit peak brightness. The higher resolution and smoother refresh rate create a more immersive experience for gaming and media consumption.

Google’s 6.3-inch P-OLED display offers excellent color accuracy and HDR support with a 120Hz refresh rate. While not as impressive on paper, Google’s display tuning is known for delivering a natural and consistent viewing experience.

Verdict

The Pixel 10a wins for compact usability, but the Edge 70 Pro offers the more impressive overall package thanks to its premium finish, stronger durability credentials, larger screen, higher resolution, and significantly superior display specifications.

Specifications Including Battery

Performance

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme paired with UFS 4.1 storage and up to 12GB RAM. The combination delivers excellent responsiveness, faster app loading, and stronger multitasking capabilities. Users who frequently game or run demanding applications will appreciate the additional performance headroom.

Google’s Tensor G4 focuses more on AI-driven experiences than raw speed. Every day performance remains smooth, and Google’s software optimization keeps the interface fluid. However, UFS 3.1 storage and lower memory options place it behind Motorola in pure hardware capability.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is a major strength for Motorola. The 6500mAh battery is among the largest in the segment and is paired with ultra-fast 90W wired charging, along with wireless and reverse wireless charging support.

The Pixel 10a’s 5100mAh battery remains respectable and should comfortably last a full day. However, its 30W charging feels considerably slower compared to Motorola’s solution.

Verdict

The Edge 70 Pro takes a clear lead in specifications. Faster storage, more memory options, stronger performance potential, a larger battery, and dramatically faster charging make it a more capable hardware-focused smartphone.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

Motorola equips the Edge 70 Pro with an unusually versatile triple-camera setup consisting of 50MP wide, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP periscope telephoto cameras with 3.5x optical zoom. The inclusion of a dedicated telephoto lens significantly expands shooting flexibility, especially for portraits and distant subjects. Video recording is also impressive with support for 4K at up to 120fps.

The Pixel 10a relies on a dual-camera system featuring a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. While the hardware appears less ambitious, Google’s image processing remains one of the strongest in the industry. Features such as Best Take, Ultra HDR, and Pixel Shift help produce consistently excellent photos.

Selfie Camera

Motorola’s 50MP autofocus selfie camera offers higher resolution and greater versatility. It is particularly useful for detailed selfies and video calls.

Google’s 13MP ultrawide selfie camera provides a wider field of view, making group selfies easier, though image detail is lower.

Verdict

The Edge 70 Pro wins on hardware versatility and zoom capability, while the Pixel 10a remains highly competitive through software processing. Users seeking maximum camera flexibility will likely find Motorola more appealing.

Pricing

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is priced around $400 (β‚Ή39,000), while the Google Pixel 10a is priced around $500 (β‚Ή50,000). This creates a noticeable price gap of roughly $100 or β‚Ή11,000 between the two devices.

At its price point, Motorola delivers flagship-style features such as a 144Hz display, periscope telephoto camera, 6500mAh battery, 90W charging, UFS 4.1 storage, and wireless charging. The specification sheet feels unusually generous for the segment and competes with devices that often cost considerably more.

Google’s higher price is largely justified by its software strengths. Buyers receive seven years of Android upgrades, exclusive Pixel AI features, strong camera processing, and a clean Android experience. These advantages may hold long-term value for users who keep phones for many years.

Verdict

From a pure value-for-money perspective, the Edge 70 Pro delivers more hardware for less money. The Pixel 10a justifies its premium through software longevity rather than specifications.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, launch timing, and applicable taxes. Always check whether the listed price is for a China unit or a global/international variant when purchasing.

Conclusion

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro stands out with its 144Hz AMOLED display, 6500mAh battery, 90W charging, UFS 4.1 storage, and rare periscope telephoto camera. It is clearly designed for buyers who prioritize powerful hardware and feature-rich specifications.

The Google Pixel 10a differentiates itself through seven years of Android updates, Tensor-powered AI capabilities, advanced computational photography, Satellite SOS support, and Google’s highly optimized software experience. These strengths make it particularly attractive for users who value long-term reliability and software support.

Verdict

Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the stronger overall choice for most buyers. It offers a superior display, faster performance, better charging, a larger battery, and a more versatile camera system while costing less.Β

Google Pixel 10a remains an excellent option for users who prioritize software updates, AI features, and Google’s camera processing, but the Edge 70 Pro provides the more compelling overall value in this comparison.

Disclaimer: This comparison is based on the specifications provided and is intended for general informational purposes. Actual performance, camera results, battery life, and overall experience may vary depending on real-world usage, software updates, and individual preferences.

Samsung Galaxy A27 vs Redmi 15: Is Samsung Really Worth Paying More For?

19 June 2026 at 19:11
samsung vs redmi

Choosing between the Samsung Galaxy A27 and Redmi 15 is not as simple as comparing specifications. Both devices target budget-conscious buyers, but they focus on different priorities. Samsung aims to deliver a more premium experience with long-term software support, while Redmi focuses on battery life and affordability. The comparison becomes important for users looking for the best balance of performance, cameras, display quality, and overall value in the sub-$300 smartphone segment.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

The Samsung Galaxy A27 feels noticeably more premium thanks to its Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both the front and back. The overall construction gives it a more refined look, and the inclusion of eSIM support adds extra flexibility for modern users. Samsung also brings DeX support, which is uncommon in this price segment and adds productivity value.

The Redmi 15 uses a plastic back and frame with Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. While the IP64 rating matches Samsung’s splash resistance, the overall build feels more focused on practicality than premium appeal. The device is designed for users who prioritize durability and battery capacity over aesthetics.

Display Quality

Samsung’s 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel delivers deeper blacks, richer colors, and better contrast. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps animations smooth while maintaining excellent image quality. The display feels more vibrant for streaming, gaming, and everyday use.

Redmi counters with a larger 6.9-inch IPS LCD and a faster 144Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate helps scrolling feel exceptionally fluid, but the LCD panel cannot match AMOLED’s color depth and contrast.

Verdict

The Galaxy A27 wins this section. Redmi offers a bigger and smoother display on paper, but Samsung’s AMOLED panel, stronger materials, and premium features create a more polished daily experience.

Specifications Including Battery

Performance

The Galaxy A27 is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 built on a more efficient 4nm process. Combined with the Adreno 710 GPU, it delivers stronger overall performance for multitasking, gaming, and long-term use. Samsung also promises up to six major Android upgrades, making the device a safer long-term investment.

The Redmi 15 uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, which is capable for everyday tasks but sits a tier below Samsung’s chipset. Basic gaming, social media, and video streaming run smoothly, but demanding workloads reveal the performance gap.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is where Redmi makes a strong statement. The massive 7000mAh battery easily outlasts most competitors and can comfortably stretch into a second day for many users. Its 33W charging is also slightly faster, and the addition of 18W reverse charging increases versatility.

Samsung’s 5000mAh battery remains dependable and sufficient for a full day of usage, though it cannot compete with Redmi’s endurance.

Verdict

The Galaxy A27 delivers better performance and software longevity, while Redmi dominates battery life. For power users and long-term ownership, Samsung feels more balanced, but heavy travelers may prefer Redmi’s enormous battery.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

Samsung takes a clear lead in camera hardware. The 50MP primary camera includes optical image stabilization (OIS), helping produce sharper photos and steadier videos, especially in low light. The addition of an ultrawide camera provides more flexibility for landscapes and group shots, while 4K video recording enhances content creation capabilities.

The Redmi 15 also features a 50MP primary camera, but it lacks OIS and is paired only with an auxiliary sensor. Daylight photos should remain respectable, but the overall camera system is less versatile. Video recording is limited to 1080p, which places it behind Samsung.

Selfie Camera

Samsung continues its advantage with a 12MP autofocus selfie camera. Autofocus helps maintain sharper facial details and improves consistency across different shooting conditions.

The Redmi 15 uses an 8MP front camera that is suitable for video calls and casual social media uploads, but lacks the detail and flexibility offered by Samsung.

Verdict

The Galaxy A27 is a stronger camera phone. Better stabilization, an ultrawide lens, 4K recording, and a higher-quality selfie camera make it a more complete photography package.

Pricing

The Redmi 15 is priced around $150 (β‚Ή15,000), while the Samsung Galaxy A27 is priced around $260 (β‚Ή22,000). The price difference is significant, placing Samsung roughly β‚Ή7,000 higher than Redmi.

At its price point, Redmi delivers impressive value. Buyers receive a large 144Hz display, a huge 7000mAh battery, 33W charging, and a modern Snapdragon chipset. For users focused on essential smartphone functions and battery endurance, the value proposition is difficult to ignore.

Samsung’s higher price brings meaningful upgrades rather than cosmetic improvements. The AMOLED display, stronger chipset, superior cameras, OIS, DeX support, and six years of major software updates all contribute to a more premium ownership experience. These are advantages that continue to matter long after purchase.

Verdict

Redmi offers stronger value for budget-focused buyers, while Samsung justifies its higher price through better hardware quality, cameras, performance, and software support.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, launch timing, and applicable taxes. Always check whether the listed price is for a China unit or a global/international variant when purchasing.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A27 stands out with its Super AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, OIS-equipped camera system, Samsung DeX support, and exceptional software update commitment. These features make it feel closer to a mid-range smartphone than an entry-level device.

The Redmi 15 focuses on practicality. Its standout features include a huge 7000mAh battery, 33W charging, 18W reverse charging, 144Hz refresh rate, and a significantly lower purchase price. It is designed for users who prioritize endurance and affordability above everything else.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy A27 is the better overall smartphone. It delivers a superior display, stronger performance, better cameras, longer software support, and a more premium experience. Buyers planning to keep their phone for several years will likely find the extra cost worthwhile.

Redmi 15 remains an excellent choice for value seekers. Those who want maximum battery life and the lowest possible price without sacrificing modern features will find it difficult to beat. However, for the most complete package, the Galaxy A27 comes out ahead.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

The Huawei Nova 16 and Vivo V60 take different approaches to design. Huawei uses a more premium construction with an aluminum back paired with a glass front, giving the device a sturdier and more refined feel in daily use. It also carries an IP65 rating, which provides protection against dust and water splashes. The Vivo V60 counters with a much stronger IP68/IP69 rating, making it better suited for users who prioritize durability and water resistance. Its under-display fingerprint scanner also delivers a more modern experience than Huawei’s side-mounted solution.

Display Quality

Huawei equips the Nova 16 with a high-resolution OLED panel that delivers sharper visuals and excellent clarity. The HDR Vivid support and 2160Hz PWM dimming make it particularly appealing for multimedia consumption and long viewing sessions. Vivo’s AMOLED display is brighter, reaching significantly higher peak brightness levels while also supporting HDR10+. Outdoor visibility is excellent, and colors appear vibrant and punchy.

Verdict

Huawei offers a more premium-looking design and sharper screen, while Vivo delivers superior durability and brightness. Users focused on display clarity may prefer the Nova 16, whereas those wanting better outdoor usability and stronger protection will find the V60 more appealing.

Specifications Including Battery

Performance

The Huawei Nova 16 is powered by the Kirin 9010S chipset paired with 12GB of RAM across all variants. Every day, performance feels smooth, and HarmonyOS remains highly optimized for multitasking. However, the Vivo V60 gains an advantage with the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform built on a 4nm process. Combined with Android 15 and a promise of four major Android upgrades, it offers stronger long-term software support and broader app compatibility.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is a major strength for both phones. Huawei packs a massive 7000mAh battery that comfortably handles heavy usage and can easily stretch into a second day. The 100W charging system is among the fastest in the segment. Vivo’s 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery is slightly smaller but still excellent, while its 90W charging remains impressively quick. Features such as bypass charging and reverse charging add extra versatility for gamers and power users.

Verdict

Huawei wins on battery capacity and charging speed, making it ideal for endurance-focused buyers. Vivo takes the lead in processing efficiency, software longevity, and overall platform flexibility.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

The Huawei Nova 16 focuses on a dual-camera setup featuring a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.7x optical zoom. Image quality should be strong, particularly for portraits and zoom photography. Vivo adopts a more versatile approach with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an additional 8MP ultrawide camera. The inclusion of Zeiss optics enhances color tuning and image processing, providing a more polished photography experience.

Selfie Camera

Both devices feature impressive 50MP front cameras capable of 4K video recording. Huawei uses an ultrawide selfie camera that is particularly useful for group photos and travel shots. Vivo’s autofocus-equipped selfie camera offers more reliable sharpness and consistency, especially when recording video or taking close-up portraits.

Verdict

Huawei delivers excellent zoom performance and a capable selfie system, but Vivo’s extra ultrawide camera and Zeiss-tuned imaging create a more complete camera package. For users who enjoy experimenting with different shooting styles, the V60 feels more versatile overall.

Pricing

The Huawei Nova 16 is priced around $450 (β‚Ή42,000), while the Vivo V60 is priced around $425 (β‚Ή37,000). Despite being slightly cheaper, the Vivo offers a newer Snapdragon chipset, stronger water resistance, an additional ultrawide camera, longer software support, and multiple memory configurations. These advantages make its pricing highly competitive within the upper mid-range segment.

Huawei justifies its higher price through premium materials, a larger battery, faster charging, and a sharper display. Buyers who place greater value on battery endurance and display resolution may find the premium worthwhile. However, the overall feature balance leans slightly toward Vivo.

Verdict

Both phones offer solid value, but the Vivo V60 extracts more features from a lower price point. Huawei remains attractive for battery-focused users, while Vivo provides a stronger all-around value proposition.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, launch timing, and applicable taxes. Always check whether the listed price is for a China unit or a global/international variant when purchasing.

Conclusion

The Huawei Nova 16 stands out with its premium aluminum-backed design, high-resolution OLED display, massive 7000mAh battery, and 100W charging system. It is clearly aimed at users who prioritize endurance, display sharpness, and premium hardware. The periscope zoom camera also adds appeal for portrait and telephoto photography enthusiasts.

The Vivo V60 differentiates itself with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 performance, Zeiss-enhanced cameras, an ultrawide lens, superior IP68/IP69 protection, a brighter AMOLED display, and four guaranteed Android upgrades. These strengths create a more balanced smartphone that caters to a wider audience.

Verdict

Huawei Nova 16 is the better choice for users who want maximum battery life, faster charging, and a sharper display. The Vivo V60 is the stronger overall smartphone thanks to its more versatile camera system, newer chipset, better durability, longer software support, and lower price. For most buyers seeking the best combination of features and value, the Vivo V60 is the more compelling option.

Disclaimer: This comparison is based on the specifications provided and is intended for general informational purposes. Actual performance, camera results, battery life, and overall experience may vary depending on real-world usage, software updates, and individual preferences.

Casio launches two G-Lide GBX-H5600 watches with heart rate tracking & surf-focused tools in the US

19 June 2026 at 15:16
Casio G-LIDE GBX-H5600

Casio has released its latest fitness-oriented digital watches, the G-Shock G-Lide GBX-H5600 series, in the US market. Following an initial launch in Japan earlier this spring, the new models are now available for $330. The GBX-H5600 integrates modern health tracking hardware, including an optical heart rate monitor, into the familiar square G-Shock profile, specifically targeting surfers and outdoor users.

Casio G-LIDE GBX-H5600

Design Details

The lineup debuts with two models: the black GBX-H5600-1 and the blue GBX-H5600-2. Both feature a translucent bezel and a solid band made from bio-based resin. Casio has managed to reduce the weight of these watches to 47 grams, making them roughly 12 grams lighter than the older DW-H5600 models. This weight reduction is primarily due to a new case back constructed from carbon fiber-reinforced resin.

For the display, Casio is using a high-resolution Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) LCD. MIP panels are standard for outdoor sports watches because they remain highly legible in direct sunlight, which is a necessary practical feature for a device intended for the beach.

Internally, the GBX-H5600 functions as a standard fitness tracker. It includes an optical sensor for heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen level estimates, along with a three-axis accelerometer to track steps, distance, and pace. The software supports multi-sport tracking, sleep analysis, and cardio load measurements.

Casio G-LIDE GBX-H5600

Because this watch is part of the surf-focused G-Lide series, it also includes tide graphs, moon phase data, and sunrise/sunset times. The watch can be connected to the smartphone app via Bluetooth to load location-specific tide patterns from a database of about 3,300 global surf spots directly to the device.

As a connected watch, it handles basic smart functions. It mirrors smartphone notifications for calls, emails, and social media, and includes a phone finder feature alongside automatic time adjustment.

Casio G-LIDE GBX-H5600

Power management relies on a hybrid system of USB and solar-assisted charging. If you leave the heart rate monitor running continuously during activities, the battery lasts a maximum of 35 hours. If you turn off the heart rate tracking and use it as a standard digital watch, a single charge lasts about a month. The power-saving mode extends that standby time to roughly 11 months.

In related news, Casio has recently brought its Japanese red lantern-inspired Aka-Chochin G-Shock watches to the US, while also unveiling a new translucent G-Shock model influenced by 1990s streetwear culture.

OnePlus 15s isn't happening, tipster claims

20 June 2026 at 06:00

In April of last year, OnePlus launched the 13T in China. Then, in June, it released basically the same phone in India as the OnePlus 13s. Back in March of this year, the company introduced the 15T in China, so you're probably expecting it to launch in India as the 15s very soon. OnePlus 15T However, according to a tipster over on X, that is not going to happen. The device will not be coming to India at all, for whatever reason. Furthermore, whether the upcoming OnePlus 16 will launch in India still hasn't been decided. We'd be surprised if the 16 skips India, but the 15s apparently...

7 Samsung Watches receive broken app launch fix in the US

20 June 2026 at 05:31

Google officially released the Wear OS 7 update for Pixel Watch models. The new wearable platform introduces a battery life boost, Live Updates, Gemini Intelligence, and cross-device connectivity.

Samsung will bring the new wearable operating system to its Galaxy devices through the One UI 9 Watch update. A Beta Program was assumed to have already started, but users are still awaiting an announcement.

Meanwhile, Samsung is more widely rolling out its May 2026 security patches. In the latest expansion, the fresh security patches have started to arrive on 8 Samsung Galaxy Watches in the US.

The May 2026 update’s changelog clearly states that the OTA includes the most up-to-date Android security patches. However, the OTA has even more to offer, which Samsung hasn’t even mentioned in the changelog.

Samsung users reported a broken app launch bug on Galaxy Watches in the US. Every time they launch/open an application from the app drawer, it shows a dark black glimpse on the screen and then returns to the app drawer.

Galaxy Watch users found that the problem had been resolved after installing the May 2026 security update. It was initially dropped in South Korea, and a major expansion brought it to users in the United States.

Samsung may have also included system optimization inside. System cache and junk data will also be cleared during installation, which would provide an enhanced user experience.

Software version information:

Here's why Apple is already dropping support for so many watches in watchOS 27

20 June 2026 at 01:00

At its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, Apple unveiled watchOS 27. This will be rolling out in the fall. Perhaps surprisingly, watchOS 27 will drop support for a lot of older Apple Watches, including the original Apple Watch Ultra, released in 2022. That device was the first Apple Watch to cost a whopping $799, so many owners may still be using it. But come September, they will only receive essential security updates, as the watch is not getting watchOS 27. Asked why, Apple Watch and Health Product Marketing Manager Cait Dooley told TechRadar: With every software...

Samsung partners with South African creators to showcase Galaxy A57 and A37 cameras

19 June 2026 at 17:10

Samsung is showcasing the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 cameras in collaboration with South African creators. Samsung South Africa teamed up with one of Mzansi’s leading film production companies to drop a short film.

The Korean tech giant has been quietly building something in the Galaxy A series for years. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are the latest proof that AI-powered photography isn’t just for flagship phones anymore.

The short film is less product advertisement and more of a cultural document.

Director Lindo Langa helmed the project, and the result is genuinely cinematic. The film opens frozen, moments suspended just before the shutter clicks, then accelerates into the full kinetic energy of South African youth culture.

It’s the kind of brief you don’t expect from a mid-range phone launch.Β Content creators Dee Koala, Sine Madondo, Coachella Randy, and Jaedin Rhodes appear as themselves, doing exactly what they do in real life.

Designed to make everyday experiences simpler, smarter, and more intuitive, the new Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G reflect Samsung’s ongoing commitment to democratising artificial intelligence.

By expanding AI capabilities across more accessible devices, Samsung continues to empower users to do more with the technology in their hands, from capturing meaningful moments to enhancing everyday productivity.

Samsung is pushing AI camera capabilities down into devices that real people can afford. Not everyone is buying an S-series phone, and pretending otherwise is how you lose the next generation of customers.

Pope is a Samsung guy, rocks Galaxy phone and Watch

19 June 2026 at 16:28

Pope Leo XIV is officially a Samsung guy; he rocks a Galaxy phone and wears a Galaxy Watch. When South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited the Vatican earlier this week, he came away with more than diplomatic goodwill.

During their meeting, Pope Leo XIV held up a Black smartwatch and quizzed the President: β€œDo you know what this is?” It was a Samsung Galaxy Watch. The Pope then mentioned he also carries a Galaxy smartphone and drives a Hyundai.

For a man who could have his pick of any device, the choice is telling. While Silicon Valley’s flagship products dominate the pockets of most Western leaders and public figures, the leader of Catholics is running on Korean tech.

The Pope’s device preferences emerged as something of a lighthearted footnote to a substantive meeting that covered Korean Peninsula peace efforts, next year’s World Youth Day in Seoul, and a potential papal visit to North Korea.

Samsung’s Galaxy lineup has long held its ground as a premium alternative to Apple, and apparently, that reputation reaches all the way to the Holy See.

Whether by personal preference or happy coincidence, the first American Pope seems to have gone Korean when it counts.

Laptop prices climb as RAM becomes a major cost driver

What started as a DIY memory crunch is now hitting everyone. AI data centers are swallowing the world's DRAM, driving the cheapest 32 GB DDR5 kit to around $439 and pushing midrange laptops past $1,200. With memory now accounting for about 35 percent of a PC's component cost, relief isn't expected before late 2027.

Smartwatch growth returns, but Samsung took a different path in Q1 2026

19 June 2026 at 13:32

A new market report reveals that the global smartwatch market has returned to growth, with major brands gaining momentum. Samsung took a different path in Q1 2026, with smartwatch shipments facing a steep decline.

According to Counterpoint Research, the global smartwatch shipments grew 4% YoY in Q1 2026. Analysts believe Apple was the key driver given its newest Watch portfolio, along with growing demand for premium devices.

Samsung was the only smartwatch brand that flagged a massive downturn in its shipments in Q1 2026. The company’s market share declined from 7 percent in Q1 2025 to 5 percent in the first quarter of the year.

The shipment data reveals that Galaxy Watch shipments declined 28 percent YoY. It signals that the company’s wearable strategy requires revisions. A new set of watches is coming next month, and market share is expected to rise.

Apple led the worldwide smartwatch market with 23 percent market share. The US tech giant flagged a steep growth of 21 percent year-on-year. The momentum will continue as Q3 is set to welcome the next-gen wearables.

Huawei also grew 12 percent, with the company’s market share jumping from 16 percent in Q1 2025 to 17 percent in Q1 2026. The Chinese brand ranked second, thanks to aggressive marketing and push from key markets.

The growth of the Chinese market, led by Huawei’s ecosystem push and government subsidies, encouraged consumer upgrades and strengthened overall demand.

Xiaomi maintained its third spot and 10 percent market share in Q1 2026’s smartwatch market. The company’s overall smartwatch shipments grew 9 percent year over year.

imoo was the fourth largest smartwatch vendor in the first quarter, retaining 7 percent market share with 2 percent YoY growth.

Samsung lapped Bitcoin

19 June 2026 at 09:30

Thanks to the AI momentum, Samsung has just surpassed Bitcoin in terms of market value. Samsung Electronics is sitting at a $1.522 trillion market cap while Bitcoin is at $1.276 trillion; it is a $246 billion gap, and it has widened fast.

The KOSPI cracked 9,000 intraday for the first time ever, dragging semiconductor stocks higher while Bitcoin quietly bled out.Β SEDaily reports that Samsung climbed to 12th among global assets, while Bitcoin slipped to 15th.

Samsung surpassed Bitcoin on November 1, then lost ground after shares cratered on November 8. Meanwhile, AI chip demand and high-bandwidth memory optimism have since pulled Samsung back ahead.

The gap isn’t shrinking

MarketWatch columnist Mark Hulbert ran the numbers on a fair-value model and surfaced something brutal: Bitcoin converging around $120,000 by 2140 implies an expected annual return of roughly 0.6% over 120 years.

Apart from this, SK Hynix is also running up 6.51% in a single session, its market value reached $1.248 trillion, placing it just $28 billion behind Bitcoin at 16th globally.

Samsung tackling power problem behind AI growth with Claros

19 June 2026 at 08:02

Samsung and a startup called Claros have quietly locked in one of the more technically precise collaborations to surface from the AI infrastructure arms race.

Claros will produce its IVR designs using Samsung Foundry’s US-based 14nm FinFET process. The company’s CEO, Daniel Kultran, has been direct about the friction, saying data center operators keep hitting the same wall because they want integrated voltage regulation but won’t move without volume certainty.

β€œSamsung’s FinFET process is the manufacturing foundation our IVR needs, and now our customers have a production timeline they can plan around,” said Claros Co-Founder and CEO Daniel Kultran.

Samsung’s Margaret Han, who runs US Foundry operations, signaled that the company sees applications beyond data centers, including industrial and automotive applications.

β€œProcessor-level power delivery is one of the most critical challenges facing AI infrastructure, and Claros is tackling it with a truly forward-looking approach,” said Margaret Han, Executive Vice President and Head of US Foundry at Samsung Electronics.

AI workloads don’t just demand power; they waste it. The industry has been pushing 800 VDC architecture at the rack level, which helps, but stops short.

Without voltage regulation happening millimeters from the actual processor, a significant slice of that efficiency disappears as heat. Claros’s integrated voltage regulator closes that gap, cutting energy loss by up to 30 percent.

This is Claros’s first manufacturing agreement. The company closed a $30 million seed round recently and is now positioned to actually ship at scale.

Samsung preparing Galaxy devices for quantum security era with One UI 8.5

19 June 2026 at 07:05

Samsung is already preparing Galaxy devices for the quantum security era with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update. Quantum computers capable of cracking modern encryption aren’t here, but the people building them are working fast.

Most of the encryption protecting your banking apps, your Wi-Fi sessions, and your private messages relies on mathematical problems that traditional computers can’t solve in any reasonable timeframe.

Quantum machines could solve them in minutes. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is the field that is developing replacement algorithms designed to withstand that kind of computational power.

One UI 8.5 brings quantum-resistant encryption to Secure Wi-Fi, which protects connections on public and shared networks.

Among the security initiatives presented by Samsung are:

  • New advanced encryption mechanisms for personal data;
  • Intelligent threat monitoring among connected Galaxy devices;
  • Preventive features capable of identifying suspicious activities in real time;
  • Expansion of Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), an architecture developed to protect personalized AI features.

Samsung has also expanded Knox Matrix and strengthened Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, the architecture built specifically to guard personalized AI features as they process increasingly sensitive behavioral data.

Meanwhile, the Korean tech giant has not published deep technical documentation on exactly which PQC algorithms are being deployed or at what layer, but the direction is right.

Samsung launched One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 flagship phones. The official rollout began in May 2026, and dozens of Galaxy devices have received the update to date.

Beyond that, Samsung embarked on the One UI 9 journey, based on Android 17. The software is available in Beta for the Galaxy S26 series in Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Samsung misses smartphone sales growth seen by Apple and Huawei

19 June 2026 at 06:16

Researchers at Counterpoint Research published the worldwide smartphone sales report for Week 20 of 2026. Samsung maintained its smartphone sales in that period, while Apple and Huawei secured solid growth.

According to the report, the global smartphone sales declined by 8% YoY in Week 20 of 2026, marking the ninth consecutive week of negative growth. Overall, demand remained sluggish during Week 20, despite some promotional events in China and India.

Apple and Huawei were the only phone makers that flagged positive growth. Samsung, at the same time, managed to keep its sales momentum consistent in a declining smartphone market.

Brands with stable supply chains and high visibility into key components such as memory were able to maintain more consistent pricing and promotional strategies. Apple is in an advantageous position in this regard.

Apple grew 10 percent year over year, while Huawei grew a huge 23 percent. Samsung managed to prevent a sales slump, but ended up facing a sales decline of 1 percent year over year.

Chinese vendors, such as Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, declined 10%, 19%, and 17%, respectively. The phone makers are getting hurt by the rising component costs and the memory price hike.

With supply chain stability emerging as a key differentiator this year, brands with higher supply stability for core components, particularly AI memory, competing with data center demand, widened the gap with their competitors.

Why Samsung’s chip business is still losing money despite record Q1 – Exynos & Foundry update

18 June 2026 at 14:31

Samsung’s System LSI division just delivered its best-ever first-quarter revenue. Sounds like great news, right? But there’s a catch – the company still expects to end the full year with losses in this part of its chip business.

President Park Yong-in recently talked about the challenges. He said Samsung needs bigger structural changes because demand is soft in several key areas. Even with strong memory (HBM) chip sales, thanks to AI demand, the non-memory side (foundry and System LSI) continues to struggle.

β€œWe achieved the highest level of sales in the first quarter of this year” Park said at the briefing. Park said, β€œThe System-on-Chip (SoC) business is difficult to convert into a surplus in the short term, but we will strive to improve the business body and improve profitability.” β€œWe will create an environment where structural problems can be solved by management and members can focus on technology.”

The one chance? Development of the next flagship Exynos 2700 processor is moving along steadily. Samsung is expected to use it in the next Galaxy S-series phones.

Samsung is clearly treating its foundry business (making chips for other companies) and System LSI (mobile processors and more) as key parts for the entire company.

What’s the real issue? The mobile SoC market is super competitive, and AI demand has not helped every segment the same way. While memory chips are printing money, fixing the logic and foundry side will take serious time and effort.

For long-term success, Samsung is trying to balance its memory and non-memory chip businesses. Investors are watching closely to see if these changes start delivering real results soon.
