The competitive world of flagship smartphones is heating up again, with Chinese brands bringing a new wave of premium devices. Two of the latest models to hit the market are the Oppo Find X9 Pro and OnePlus 15. While the former is a high end smartphone with cutting edge cameras, the latter focuses on performance. So both serve a different purpose despite being the latest gen flagships. So here’s a quick comparison from display and design to hardware performance and camera systems to help you decide which model fits your priorities.

Display & Design

These are both top of the line smartphones from Oppo and OnePlus, so you get a premium build quality that uses metal and glass, along with high end IP rating for water and dust resistance, and uniform bezels. So picking between the designs is based on personal preference. However, the display on the front immediately showcases the different focus of the two smartphones.

Oppo Find X9 Pro

The Find X9 Pro sports a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 2780×1264 resolution, 3840Hz PWM dimming, Dolby Vision, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3600 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 15 has a similar 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution as well. However, it bumps up the max refresh rate to 165Hz, which appeals to mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Hardware & Performance

Under the hood, these phones take different paths once again. The Find X9 Pro is equipped with MediaTek’s latest and greatest Dimensity 9500. On the other hand, the OnePlus 15 gets Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Both models offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. You can expect high end performance on both models, from everyday use to intense tasks like gaming.

However, the OnePlus 15 was clearly built to double as a great gaming phone as well. A gigantic 7,500mAh battery pack powers the Find X9 Pro, which supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. While OnePlus’ latest flagship has a slightly smaller 7,300mAh cell, it makes up for this with a faster 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Camera

Photography is another area where each device offers distinct priorities. Oppo’s Find X9 Pro places a big focus on offering a flagship grade camera experience. It features Sony’s new 50MP LYT828 primary sensor (1/1.28″, OIS, f/1.5), 200MP Samsung HP5 periscope telephoto shooter (1/4″, OIS, f/2.1), and 50MP ultra wide angle lens on the rear. For selfies and video calls, there is a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 camera on the front. Just like before, the cameras are also tuned by Hasselblad.

Last year, the OnePlus 13 was a bit similar to the Find X8 Pro. But now, the OnePlus 15 has made some downgrades to its camera system. The 1.4-inch main camera is now a smaller 50MP Sony 1/1.56-inch primary sensor (OIS, f/1.8), which is coupled with a 50MP ultra wide angle lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto shooter with a 3.5x optical zoom. Gone is the Hasselblad tuning, being replaced by Oppo’s LUMO Condensed Light Imaging. While it would be wrong to call the camera worse outright, photography is clearly not a major focus anymore.

Pricing and Final Thoughts

Taking all of this into account, it isn’t surprising that Oppo’s Find X9 Pro has a higher starting price tag of 5,299 Yuan, which is roughly around 746 US Dollars, for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. In comparison, the OnePlus 15 is a lot more affordable with a 3,999 yuan starting price (roughly 561 US Dollars) for the same storage option.

So in choosing between the OPPO Find X9 Pro and the OnePlus 15, your decision comes down to what you value most. If you’re after absolute photography capability and long battery life, the Find X9 Pro emerges as a strong pick. On the flip side, if you prioritise raw performance, relatively affordable pricing, ultra-fluid display and a chipset built for gaming or heavy tasks, the OnePlus 15 may be the smarter choice.

Nvidia will invest $1 billion in Nokia to push AI-powered telecom networks

Nvidia is betting big on the future of intelligent connectivity, investing $1 billion in Nokia to accelerate work on AI-driven 5G and 6G networks. The move gives Nvidia a 2.9% stake in the Finnish telecom giant and signals a deeper partnership aimed at blending AI and radio access networks (RAN) — what both companies are calling AI-RAN.

Under the deal, Nvidia will buy almost 166.4 million new Nokia shares at $6.01 each, pending regulatory approval. The funding will help Nokia speed up its development of AI-based RAN software, expand its cloud and data center solutions, and enhance its optical and switching technologies — all key to building the next generation of AI-ready infrastructure.

The collaboration will see Nvidia’s CUDA and AI platforms integrated into Nokia’s telecom systems, effectively turning networks into smart, adaptive systems capable of handling AI workloads closer to the user.

T-Mobile US is already signed on as a partner, with field trials planned for 2026 to test performance, power efficiency, and real-world scalability.

Nokia CEO Justin Hotard described the partnership as a “fundamental redesign” of how networks operate — bringing computing intelligence to the edge of connectivity. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang added that telecommunications form the “digital nervous system” of modern economies and that AI-RAN could be a generational shift for national infrastructure.

The deal also pulls in Dell Technologies as part of the broader ecosystem, hinting at new opportunities in data center and edge computing integration.

If successful, this could mark one of the most significant shifts in telecom since the rollout of 4G — paving the way for 6G networks that think, learn, and adapt in real time.

Huawei Mate 70 Air leak hints at curved display and more RAM than the standard model

Huawei’s Mate lineup has always been about pushing boundaries, and the upcoming Mate 70 Air looks like it’ll continue that trend — only slimmer and sleeker. Fresh leaks suggest that the Mate 70 Air will pack a quad-curved display and extra RAM, giving it an edge over the standard model ahead of its rumored November debut.

The standard Mate 70 already sets a solid foundation with a 6.7-inch flat OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1.5K resolution (2688 × 1216). It supports 1.07 billion colors, P3 wide color gamut, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling — all protected by second-gen Kunlun Glass, which Huawei claims is impressively durable in terms of both scratch and drop protection. Inside, there’s the Kirin 9020 chip, 12GB of RAM, and storage options up to 1TB.

According to tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the Mate 70 Air takes things a step further. It’s said to feature a quad-curved display — curved on all four edges — for a more immersive, near bezel-free experience. The screen could measure around 6.9 inches, with a slightly different aspect ratio from the Mate 70’s layout.

Storage options will likely include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and possibly a 16GB variant. The device will ship with HarmonyOS 5.1, with an upgrade path to HarmonyOS 6.0 later. Despite its slim profile — reportedly just over 6mm thick — the Air is expected to hold its own in battery life, likely surpassing rivals like the iPhone Air and Samsung’s S25 Edge.

As for timing, FixedFocus claims Huawei is planning a “warm-up for autumn” release, pointing to the first week of November 2025.

The Mate 70 was announced toward the end of November last year, measuring 7.8mm thick and housing a 5,300mAh battery. With the Moto X70 Air (5.99mm) entering the slim phone race with a 4,800mAh cell, it’ll be interesting to see how much Huawei’s battery tech can manage. Pricing remains under wraps for now, but we should learn more as the launch draws closer.

Latest HyperOS Bug Report Highlights Issues on Xiaomi 15, POCO F7, and Redmi Note 12 Pro

Xiaomi has shared a new HyperOS Weekly Bug Report outlining the latest issues, fixes, and updates under review. The company continues to refine HyperOS with help from testers and users who report problems affecting daily performance.

Wi-Fi Issues Under Analysis

In Germany, some Xiaomi 15 users have reported that Wi-Fi is not working on version OS2.0.225.0.WOCEUXM (Beta). Xiaomi has confirmed that this issue is being analyzed. Another problem has been found on the POCO F7 running OS2.0.206.0.VOLEUXM, where Wi-Fi stays connected but does not work properly or disconnects automatically. A temporary solution is to reconnect to Wi-Fi or grant “Notification” permissions to the app, which may fix the issue for now.

Screen Recording and Charging Fixes

Some Xiaomi 15 users running OS2.0.225.0.WOCMIXM (Beta) and OS2.0.225.0.WOCEUXM (Beta) have noticed that the screen recording button pop-up window does not appear. Xiaomi said this will be fixed in an upcoming update.
For Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, users have reported slow charging, especially when the device is warm. This problem has been fixed in version OS2.0.7.0.UMOIDXM, and Xiaomi recommends updating to this version to apply the fix.

Upcoming Fixes in Future Updates

Xiaomi listed several known issues that will be fixed in future updates:

  • Camera freeze on Xiaomi 14 Ultra
  • Can’t hear other person’s voice on Redmi Note 14 5G
  • Random shutdowns on Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi Pad 7, and Xiaomi 14T Pro
  • Unstable network signal on Xiaomi 15T

Users facing any other issues can report them through the Feedback App or post in the ROM Subforum. For update schedules and discussions about specific device problems, Xiaomi suggests joining its Official Telegram Channel and device-specific groups for support.

In related news, Xiaomi has started rolling out the HyperOS 3 update, based on Android 16, to a new batch of devices in China. Devices now receiving the update include the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2, CIVI 5 Pro, Redmi K80, Redmi Turbo 4/4 Pro, multiple Xiaomi Pad 7 models, Redmi K Pad, Xiaomi TV S/Mini LED 2025 series, and the Xiaomi Watch S4 lineup. Xiaomi has also begun the global rollout of HyperOS 3, starting earlier this week with the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro. According to the official schedule, the update will reach more than a dozen additional devices by next month.

MediaTek’s latest Kompanio 540 chip is built for student Chromebooks

MediaTek is not just about powering Android smartphones with its Dimensity or Helio line. The company continues to expand its reach across connected devices, and its latest effort in doing so is the Kompanio 540, a new processor built specifically for Chromebooks.

MediaTek says the Kompanio 540 is a chip built for superior performance and all-day battery life in student Chromebooks. The chipmaker claims it delivers up to 35% better power efficiency compared to the previous Kompanio 520.

While that is to be proven in real-world usage, the Kompanio 540 brings an architecture upgrade designed to improve overall performance. 

It features an eight-core CPU based on a 2+6 configuration, which includes two high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. In comparison, the Kompanio 520 includes two Cortex-A76 cores (2.0GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (2.0GHz).

The chip also comes with ARM’s Mali-G57 MC2 GPU that enables support for 4K displays at 60Hz or dual 2.5K monitors when connected to external screens. For a Chromebook, that’s a notable step forward in display flexibility and graphical capability, especially for users who rely on multitasking setups.

The Kompanio 540 supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) for connectivity. Storage and memory options are also flexible. The chip supports both LPDDR5-6400 and LPDDR4x-4266 RAM, as well as eMMC 5.1 and faster UFS 3.1 storage. 

Last but not least, it’s also compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 2 and PCIe Gen 2 for peripheral expansion. The Kompanio 540 will make its debut in consumer devices starting January 2026.

The Mini PC starts at $309.99 for the base configuration and goes up to $429.99 for the top-end model with 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. The NucBox M7 Ultra is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U processor, which features 8 cores, 16 threads, and a maximum boost frequency of 4.7GHz. The chip is built on TSMC’s 6nm FinFET process and supports three power profiles, with the top mode reaching 54W TDP. The company claims a Cinebench R23 multi-core score of 13,521, placing it well above typical Mini PCs in terms of raw performance.

Gmktec has equipped the M7 Ultra with the integrated AMD Radeon 680M GPU. The GPU includes 12 compute units clocked at 2200MHz and supports up to 2GB of shared VRAM. According to the company, the graphics performance is close to that of the Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti.

The device supports dual-channel DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM RAM and allows memory expansion up to 64GB. Storage includes two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD slots, supporting up to 8TB each. The M7 Ultra also includes PCIe 3.0 SSD options in its pre-configured variants.

On the connectivity front, the Mini PC includes dual USB4 ports with 100W power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 output, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.0. These ports allow up to four displays to run simultaneously at 8K resolution. It also features an OCuLink port on the front, enabling full-speed external GPU support via PCIe Gen4 x4 bandwidth.

The M7 Ultra includes dual Intel 2.5G LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2. It supports Windows 11 Pro out of the box and is also compatible with Linux and Ubuntu. The device uses a dual-fan cooling system and produces less than 38dB of noise under load.

The compact aluminum chassis measures 132 × 125 × 58 mm and weighs approximately 604g. The design also includes VESA mount compatibility for flexible placement in home or office setups.

As we near the end of 2025, Nothing has one more smartphone for its fans. The mid range Nothing Phone a series has been quite popular in the market, so the brand decided to release another model from the Phone (3a) lineup. But the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite is its most affordable device yet, with a focus on delivering capable specs at the cost of some flashy new design element.

Design & Display

This is the first Nothing smartphone ever to be released with no eye-catching flair. While it stays true to the brand’s DNA that involves a transparent glass rear panel and the industrial layout underneath, it doesn’t feature the Glyph interface like the rest of the Phone (3a) series. Gone are the LEDs, bringing a clean and minimalistic aesthetic.

The only two aspects that do light up is the red square to signify recording and a tiny Glyph light on the bottom right corner. You also get an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, a metallic frame, and Panda Glass for protection. At first glance, you might think that the grooves underneath the panel are for a replaceable battery, but that’s not actually the case.

On the front, Nothing Phone (3a) Lite sports a tall 6.77-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, up to 3000 nits of peak brightness, and Panda glass for protection.

Hardware

Under the hood, the company looks to MediaTek again for its affordable Dimensity 7300 Pro SoC, which is a slightly faster version of the chip that powered the older Nothing Phone (2a) model. The processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Users can even expand storage by up to 2TB via a microSD card slot.

A sizeable 5,000mAh battery pack powers this model, with support for 33W wired fast charging. For photography, the rear has a triple camera setup that consists of a 50MP Samsung primary sensor (1/1.57-inch, EIS, f/1.88), an 8MP ultra wide angle lens (EIS, f/2.2), and a 2MP macro shooter (EIS, f/2.4). Meanwhile, the front houses a 16MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

Other notable features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, an 8.3mm body that weighs 199 grams, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6, a hybrid Dual SIM slot, and Android 15 OS based Nothing OS 3.5 custom skin out of the box. Since its also a part of Nothing’s latest smartphones, it features the Essential Key as well, which brings access to Essential Space. This allows users to press the dedicated button to save voice notes, go through their saved items, and much more.

Pricing and Availability

Nothing Phone (3a) Lite

The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite was just announced in the global market, namely the UK and Europe. It has a starting price tag of 249 Euros for the 8GB + 128GB model, while the 8GB + 256GB option costs 279 Euros. While the available details for other regions are still unknown, Nothing will release this budget model in markets like India soon. This model will be available for purchase in two color options, namely White and Black. While you don’t get a charging brick with this model either, Nothing has included a transparent protective case in the box.

Asus has started selling the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W, its first 720Hz OLED gaming monitor. The model was first shown at Gamescom 2025. As mentioned, what makes this monitor unique is its ability to output 720Hz refresh rate, at the cost of display resolution.

To access its 720Hz mode, users will have to knock down the resolution to 720Hz. This mode is specifically designed for competitive gaming in mind where players don’t mind reducing the resolution to get better framerates. Normally, the monitor is capable of running at 540Hz at QHD resolution.

The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W is priced at CNY 8,499 (about $1,197), and buyers can use a launch coupon to get it for CNY 7,998 (about $1,127).

The monitor has a 26.5-inch 2560×1440 OLED panel based on LG Display’s 4th Gen W-OLED technology. It runs at 540Hz by default and can reach 720Hz. The new tandem OLED design gives it 15% higher peak brightness, 25% wider color volume, and a 60% longer lifespan than older WOLED panels.

It features a TrueBlack Glossy coating that improves contrast and color depth while reducing glare. The screen supports VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black, covers 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color space, and has a 0.03ms response time. Asus has given this monitor a unique look with a silver stand and a semi-transparent back panel. It includes DisplayPort 2.1a with full 80Gbps bandwidth, HDMI 2.1, and a tripod socket for easy mounting.

The PG27AQWP-W also includes Asus OLED Care Pro, a set of tools to prevent burn-in. It uses a Neo Proximity Sensor that dims the screen when the user steps away. Asus offers a three-year burn-in warranty for added peace of mind.

Well, a fire incident involving Samsung’s Galaxy S25+ has reignited concerns about smartphone safety, echoing uncomfortable memories of the Galaxy Note 7 saga. This time, the explosion occurred not during charging but during regular use, a troubling development for the company’s latest flagship series.

The incident took place in South Korea and was first reported on Samsung’s official community forum by the device owner, who described a terrifying sequence. According to the user, the S25+ suddenly began to overheat while being held, followed by a loud popping sound. The phone was immediately tossed to the floor, and that quick reaction may have prevented a more serious injury. Despite the effort, flames broke out, and the user sustained minor burns on their fingers.

Photos shared on the forum show a severely damaged S25+, with a charred frame and a warped display. Samsung has since collected the phone and begun an internal investigation, although early findings from the company’s service center cite the cause as “unknown.”

What makes this case more alarming is the absence of charging at the time of the explosion. Typically, such fires are linked to charging malfunctions or third-party cables. This time, the fault may lie deeper, possibly in the battery management system, thermal dissipation, or even abnormal chip heating. Until more information is available, the incident remains an isolated but deeply concerning outlier.

Samsung has reportedly issued a full refund to the affected user. Meanwhile, safety experts and consumers are left wondering whether the Galaxy S25+ or other models in the lineup might be at risk.

For now, if your S25+ starts to run unusually hot or behaves erratically, shut it down immediately and contact Samsung support. This might just be a one-off, but it is a hot one, literally.

Qualcomm continues to push more power into affordable chips by incorporating modern chip technologies and premium features. The newly announced Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 aims to strengthen Qualcomm’s presence in the affordable and lower mid-range smartphone market. But there’s strong competition from MediaTek in that segment.

The Dimensity 7300, announced in June 2024, has a similar spec sheet, featuring four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores. The chipset already powers many phones from different brands, such as Vivo, Oppo, and Nothing. Here, we’ll compare it against the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 to see which one has the edge.

As of writing this post, no smartphone has been launched with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. So, we don’t have the benchmark data as yet. So, we’ll be focusing on the rest of the details for this comparison. We’ll update this comparison with benchmark data once available.

CPU, GPU, & NPU

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process node, while the Dimensity 7300 uses TSMC’s 4nm process node. The difference here is that TSMC’s manufacturing facility generally produces chips that offer higher performance and power efficiency than Samsung’s.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon chip uses four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 power-efficiency cores. The Dimensity 7300 also has the same CPU configuration, but the cores run at higher speeds, which should offer higher peak performance.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 is equipped with an Adreno GPU (the exact model hasn’t been disclosed yet) that promises 59% better performance than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. Qualcomm says the chip is capable of delivering ultra-smooth 144fps gaming at FHD+ resolution. Additionally, the chip supports Variable Rate Shading and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch for an enhanced gaming experience.

The Dimensity 7300, on the other hand, uses a dual-core Mali-G615 GPU. It also brings MediaTek HyperEngine optimizations, which improve performance, battery efficiency, and latency. In short, both GPUs promise smooth gaming. However, to see which chip offers better gaming performance, we’ll have to wait until a device with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip arrives in the market.

Both chipsets also feature NPUs for on-device AI capabilities: Qualcomm Hexagon NPU on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and MediaTek APU 655 on the Dimensity 7300.

Camera & Imaging

The Snapdragon chip features dual 12-bit Spectra ISPs, allowing up to 200MP photo capture and 2K HDR video recording at 30fps. Additionally, it supports 720p slow-motion video recording at 240 fps.

The Dimensity 7300 has a 12-bit Imagiq 950 ISP, which also allows up to 200MP photo capture. It supports hardware-based noise reduction, as does the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, but the Dimensity chip can record HDR videos at up to 4K resolution, while the Snapdragon chip is capped at 2K.

Connectivity

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 uses a 5G modem from Qualcomm that offers up to 2.9 Gbps download speed. The peak speed over a Wi-Fi connection is also limited to 2.9 Gbps. The chip supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.4, and both 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz networks. Additionally, it features Qualcomm 5G PowerSave 2.0, Qualcomm SmartTransmit 2.0, and Qualcomm Wideband Envelope Tracking for strong connectivity and improved power saving.

The Dimensity 7300, with its in-house 5G modem and 3CC carrier aggregation, can achieve up to 3.27Gbps download speed over a 5G connection. The chip supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v5.4 and features MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0+ technology for improved power savings.

OnePlus officially unveiled the OnePlus 15 in China last night. The company has been teasing its international rollout for weeks, and now it’s confirmed that the phone is coming to India on November 13th.

The launch event is scheduled for 7 PM IST, and sales will kick off just an hour later. The teaser also confirms that India won’t miss out on any color options either.

Alongside the OnePlus 15, the company introduced the OnePlus Ace 6 in China. However, it seems so far the Indian event will focus solely on the flagship 15.

The phone features a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, it can push up to 165fps in supported games such as Call of Duty Mobile, League of Legends Mobile, and Naruto Mobile.

Powering the device is a 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery that can handle 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. On the back, you’ll find a 50MP triple-camera setup, which includes a wide, a 3.5x periscope telephoto, and an ultrawide lens. Selfies are handled by a 32MP sensor. 

The OnePlus 15 even has a gyroscope of the same specifications used in the PS5 controller. It offers a 200Hz sampling rate, improving accuracy by 77% and cutting latency by 11%. Other features include an IP69K rating, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and dual stereo speakers.

OnePlus 15 starts at around $560 or some Rs 50,000 in China. So it’s wise to expect that the phone could launch under Rs 60,000 in India.

Neo stands 1.68 meters tall and weighs around 30 kilograms. It uses tendon-driven actuators and features a soft body made of 3D lattice polymer. The robot has a low operating noise of 22 decibels and can operate for up to four hours on a single charge. It can carry loads up to 24.95 kilograms and lift objects weighing up to 69.85 kilograms. Neo is available in three color options: Tan, Grey, and Dark Brown.

1X says Neo can take care of everyday household chores, including folding laundry, organizing shelves, and cleaning rooms. The robot can be operated through voice commands or a dedicated mobile app that supports task scheduling and real-time monitoring. It also includes a built-in large language model that enables contextual conversations, answers user queries, and offers helpful suggestions.

Through this system, users can schedule remote assistance sessions where a human operator from 1X can take control using a VR headset. These sessions require user consent, and privacy options let users blur faces, define private zones, and restrict access.

1X says it has implemented multiple security layers to protect user privacy. The company emphasized that early adopters should expect some level of human teleoperation to support Neo’s AI training. CEO Bernt Øyvind Børnich described this as part of a “social contract” between users and the company to help advance the technology.

Smartphone prices tipped to rise as AI boom causes a memory chip shortage

If you’ve been eyeing a new phone, you might want to buy sooner rather than later. A global memory chip shortage is pushing up costs, and many smartphone makers, including Samsung, one of the largest memory manufacturers, are reportedly planning price hikes across their lineup.

The issue comes down to high-bandwidth memory (HBM), the same ultra-fast RAM used in AI servers that power tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot. Demand has exploded thanks to the AI boom, but supply hasn’t caught up. Prices for memory chips are reportedly up by more than 50% this year, and it’s starting to ripple through to consumer hardware.

Samsung, for instance, is expected to raise prices on its upcoming phones and tablets to offset higher chip costs. Even though Samsung makes its own DRAM and NAND, it’s not immune to global supply pressure. The report doesn’t mention exact figures, but the bump will reportedly affect most product lines.

Some brands are already adjusting their prices. Xiaomi’s new Redmi K90 launched with a starting price of 2,599 CNY, a 100 CNY increase over its predecessor with the same 12GB + 256GB configuration.

What does that mean for buyers? Expect similar price hikes on upcoming models — roughly $50 to $100 for a flagship. And this memory crunch isn’t ending anytime soon. As SamMobile reports, the shortage could drag on into 2027 or even 2028, with AI demand showing no signs of slowing down. So, if you’re planning an upgrade, it might be smart to grab your next handset before prices start creeping up.

Apple’s iPad Air and Mini are finally getting OLED — and maybe water resistance too

Apple is bringing OLED screens to more of its lineup, but it’s going to take a while. According to Bloomberg, the company is working on OLED versions of the iPad Mini, iPad Air, and MacBook Air, with launches spread out over the next few years.

The iPad Mini is reportedly first in line, set to make the jump in 2026. The iPad Air will follow in its next major refresh — likely 2027 — while the MacBook Air is expected to be last, moving to OLED around 2028. So, if you’re eyeing an upcoming MacBook Air, expect another LCD panel.

OLED displays bring richer colors, deeper blacks, and better contrast — plus a small bump in power efficiency compared to the current Liquid Retina screens. It’s the same display tech already found on the latest iPad Pro, and Apple now seems ready to expand it beyond the “Pro” machines.

Bloomberg also notes Apple is experimenting with a water-resistant design for the next iPad Mini, using vibration-based speakers instead of traditional cutouts. That could make it the first iPad with proper ingress protection — handy for anyone who likes using a tablet outdoors.

There’s a downside, though: cost. OLED panels are pricier to make, and supply chain chatter suggests price hikes across the board. According to reports, this upgrade may result in as much as a $100 price hike.

That puts Apple’s mid-tier devices in tougher competition with Android rivals like Samsung, Lenovo, and OnePlus, which already sell OLED tablets under $500.

Still, Apple’s clearly moving toward an all-OLED lineup — it just won’t happen overnight. By the end of the decade, most of Apple’s portable lineup could share the same rich, contrasty look that’s now reserved for the Pro models.

The Exynos 2600 has popped up on Geekbench once again, this time with even better performance numbers. 

According to the latest benchmark listing, Samsung’s upcoming flagship chip scored 3,455 points in single-core and 11,621 points in multi-core tests. For comparison, when it first appeared back in August, it managed to get 3,309 and 11,256 points, respectively.

In both runs, the CPU configuration remains the same. The chip’s prime Cortex-X930 core is running at 3.8GHz, three Cortex-A730 performance cores at 3.26GHz, and six Cortex-A730S cores clocked at 2.76GHz. The improvement suggests Samsung has been doing some behind-the-scenes tuning to squeeze more out of the silicon.

To put those numbers in perspective, our Xiaomi 17 unit with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 reached 3,078 points in single-core and 9,162 in multi-core. 

On paper, that means the Exynos 2600 is currently ahead. Still, it’s worth remembering that Samsung’s test setup is a controlled environment, and real-world results could look different once the chip lands in actual phones.

There’s a possibility of two versions

Interestingly, Samsung may be working on two versions of the Exynos 2600. A variant with lower clock speeds also appeared on Geekbench last week, showing prime core at 3.55GHz, three performance cores at 2.96GHz, and six efficiency cores at 2.46GHz. Unsurprisingly, its scores dipped to 3,047 (single-core) and 10,025 (multi-core).

According to SammyGuru, the dual listings could hint that Samsung may be planning to use two versions of the chip across its lineup. The higher-clocked model might be reserved for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the S26 and S26 Plus could ship with the toned-down variant. That’s just speculation for now.

The goal is to make launching apps feel faster, scrolling smoother, and the interface more fluid overall. OPPO claims double-digit improvements in animation speed and touch responsiveness. Meanwhile, visually the UI takes cues from nature, with elements like light, shadow and motion influencing the design, adding immersive touches like motion wallpapers and full-screen always-on displays.

Smarter Features & Deeper Connectivity

Beyond aesthetics and motion, ColorOS 16 introduces meaningful upgrades in intelligence and ecosystem integration. One major focus is on Artificial Intelligence, bringing various AI driven editing tools like AI Portrait Glow, AI Eraser, and Master Cut video editing. All of this gives users one-tap ways to enhance photos and footage.

The system also integrates Google’s Gemini, with Gemini Live allowing for real time interaction with Google’s multimodal assistant. On the connectivity front, O+ Connect and improved multi-device workflows allow you to share files, mirror apps and link your phone with Mac and Windows PCs seamlessly. This allows for improved cross platform connectivity.

Additionally, privacy and system security are also getting an upgrade with more granular controls and background optimization. This system includes Oppo Lock for advanced data protection (Call to Lock, Dual Verification, & more) that can secure your device’s data if it gets lost, and Private Computing Cloud that makes sure your private data is processed with Oppos Private Cloud to remain secure.

Xiaomi 17 Standard Review: Does “value for money” still hold up?

Introduction 

Compared to the significant changes in the Pro series, the standard Xiaomi 17’s design hasn’t undergone major alterations from its predecessors—the 13, 14, and 15. It primarily unifies the color scheme, get rid of the prominent black accent modules seen in earlier models.

Yet, the Pro Max version currently dominates China’s bestseller ranks. So, is the standard Xiaomi 17 truly unworthy of purchase due to its ordinary appearance? After a complete test, I have a clear answer.

Design and Appearance 

As mentioned earlier, the Xiaomi 17’s changes are subtle. Yet in actual use, I found its overall build quality rivals that of the iPhone 17 Pro. From the texture of the rear glass and frame finish, to the logo design and even the rounded corners of the display, it closely mirrors the iPhone. However, the Xiaomi 17 boasts a highly practical advantage: there isn’t a side button, and camera control button.

For users who always mount their phones on stands, this is a very thoughtful design. You no longer need to adjust the balance position like with iPhones, nor worry about accidental button presses.

Display and Speaker 

Although the standard model’s screen doesn’t have the new pixel arrangement used in the Pro Max version, it still holds certain advantages. Compared to the Pro Max, the standard model’s screen is slightly smaller but maintains the same resolution. So its pixel density surpasses the Pro Max and aligns more closely with the iPhone 17 Pro.

However, this display has a notable drawback: it lacks an anti-reflective coating. In bright outdoor environments, the iPhone’s display offers clearer visibility.

For users prioritizing speaker audio quality, the Xiaomi 17 may disappoint you. To show the actual differences more clearly, I will include a sound quality comparison clip with other models in this review.

Performance and Gaming 

Performance-wise, you don’t need to worry too much. Both the standard and Pro Max versions share nearly identical core hardware specs, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 flash storage.

However, during testing, we saw an odd thing: our standard edition achieved approximately 3.5 million points on AnTuTu, while the Pro Max scored only 3.2 million. Yet, AnTuTu’s official benchmark results show a score of 3.7 million. This difference clearly indicates an issue.

After many testing and comparisons, we finally pinpointed the cause: the 3.7 million score could indeed be achieved on our standard Xiaomi 17—but only by putting the phone in a fridge for extreme cooling. Temperature curves in the Antutu benchmark records confirmed that the official score was obtained through fridge cooling. Even when cooled in a fridge, our Pro Max unit could only reach a maximum of 3.5 million points. At the same time, we monitored power consumption during benchmarking: under identical conditions, the Pro Max model consistently consumed less power than the standard version. This performance difference likely stems from two factors: different internal performance scheduling strategies within the system, and the physical difference of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor.

Fortunately, this benchmark gap doesn’t fully translate to real-world gaming performance. In Genshin Impact, the 17 performed nearly identically to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, with only slightly lower average power consumption. However, in Honkai: Star Rail, both the 17 and 17 Pro Max began throttling after three minutes of gameplay, with the devices becoming extremely hot to the touch.

Monitoring tools revealed that GPU and memory temperatures remained low during gameplay. This indicates the upgraded vapor chamber effectively dissipates heat. However, the issue lies in Xiaomi’s design redirecting processor heat toward the battery . So when running relatively low-load games like Genshin Impact, internal heat doesn’t yet trigger the battery’s thermal throttling. Conversely, high-load games like Honkai: Star Rail would trigger that quite fast. For smoother gameplay, you must either add external cooling solutions or adjust graphics settings downward.

Additionally, when running Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, we saw subtle differences in maximum graphics settings between the Xiaomi 17 series and other phones. Comparing it to the OnePlus 13, you won’t see the difference at first glance. However, if we zoom in to check character details or ground textures, the OnePlus 13 preserves more visual fidelity.

Imaging System 

The Xiaomi 17 hasn’t seen big upgrades in its cameras. Among the four cameras on the front and back, only the main camera and front-facing camera have been upgraded. The main camera performs exceptionally well in well-lit daytime conditions, with image quality just as good as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

For instance, when taking a photo of a lightbox, I captured three shots, there are noticeable color banding. The shots from the telephoto camera remains unchanged.

However, it makes mistakes in low-light or extreme lighting conditions.

The ultra-wide camera has even regressed in performance. Watch this: Opening the camera app defaults to the main lens. When switching to 0.7x zoom, did you notice anything? Now let’s focus on the carpet area and compare multiple transitions—the difference should be very clear. Worst of all, this ultra-wide lens offers a mere 17mm field of view, which feels severely cramped in today’s market.

Battery Life & Charging 

The Xiaomi 17 features a 7000mAh battery and supports 100W fast charging. This means most PPS-compatible chargers on the market can deliver 100W charging power to the device. However, in real-world testing, the peak charging speed doesn’t last long.

While initial charging power can reach 75W, it typically stabilizes around 30W for most of the charging session.

My biggest concern is rumors suggesting the global version may have a smaller battery capacity. If the global Xiaomi 17 fails to meet your endurance needs, you can purchase the Chinese version via the link in the video description.

Conclusion 

After testing the Xiaomi 17, I found it isn’t a standard flagship with defined strengths and weaknesses. Compared to last year’s model, it maintains the same price, not like the Pros that have seen a price increase. The Xiaomi 17 isn’t “mediocre” either, it’s a practical flagship focused on performance and battery life.

If these two aspects are your top priorities and you can accept compromises in its imaging system, audio quality, and other details, it delivers a solid, value-driven experience. But if you seek uncompromising, top-tier imaging capabilities, the Pro series remains the better choice. OPPO Find X9 Pro Review: Flawed, But Still the Best Overall

In Gizmochina’s hands-on video with the OPPO Find X9 series, the new flagship was considered a phone with almost no flaws. But after buying the Find X9 Pro and actually using it for a week, I have to apologize—it does have a few shortcomings. The current version of the Find X9 Pro doesn’t offer a great gaming experience. So, let’s start with its performance.

Performance

The Find X9 Pro, like the vivo X300 series, uses the Dimensity 9500 processor. Its benchmark score is slightly higher than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5.

Let’s not waste time—let’s start with the most demanding game: Honkai: Star Rail. Well… things don’t look too optimistic. The frame rate graph looks like an ECG monitor—it fluctuates wildly. The peak frame rate is around 50fps, and it can drop as low as 30fps. In complex scenes, you’ll often feel the Find X9 Pro suddenly lag, which makes the gaming experience less enjoyable.

The good news is that the Game Toolbox has a frame interpolation option that doubles the frame rate. While the graph still looks like a roller coaster, the lowest frame rate now stays above 60fps, making stutter nearly invisible. The downside, of course, is higher power consumption and more heat.

There’s another workaround: we found the Find X9 Pro performs better with Vulkan. If you switch the graphics API to “Normal Mode,” the average frame rate improves by about 10fps.

The Find X9 Pro also offers a bunch of gamer-friendly features, like super-resolution, HDR, bypass charging, and more. But if your favorite game isn’t on OPPO’s frame interpolation whitelist, the experience will suffer a lot.

In Genshin Impact, however, the Find X9 Pro had no issues. All the metrics were almost identical to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, proving that this game no longer challenges today’s flagship phones.


Design

Since the Find X9 Pro’s camera setup went from four sensors on the X8 Pro to three, the module size has been reduced. To prevent your index finger from constantly touching the raised camera area, OPPO moved the module to the side.

Whether this design looks elegant or awkward really depends on personal taste—but from a practical standpoint, it does make the phone more comfortable to use daily. After all, most of the time you’re facing the screen, so comfort matters most.

The Camera Control Button still isn’t in a great position and is somewhat impractical—I often forget it exists. Occasionally, I remember to use it to quickly launch the camera, which might be slightly useful for street photographers.


Display

The display is equally unremarkable. The biggest change is that the Find X9 Pro now uses a flat panel. Everything else is a standard upgrade—no 2K resolution, no AR coating on the film, and no new pixel arrangement.

It’s simply a good display, nothing more. So let’s move on to the part that actually improved the most.


Telephoto Camera

Compared to the Find X8 Pro, the Find X9 Pro’s major upgrades are in its main and telephoto cameras.

Let’s start with the telephoto lens. Many of you might be curious, if the new HP5 sensor can really replace the previous generation’s 6x telephoto? The answer: yes.

Although the sharpening is a bit heavy, the help of In-Sensor Zoom ensures the results are mostly satisfying. The HP5 sensor is a sibling of the HP9 but smaller in size, which theoretically means worse low-light performance when In-Sensor Zoom isn’t active. In reality, it performs better than expected—probably thanks to AI image enhancement.

Overall, losing one telephoto camera doesn’t mean it’s a downgrade. Achieving equal—or even better image quality with a smaller camera module, which is very impressive.

Have you ever wondered what happens when you combine a 200MP sensor with AI enhancement for portrait photography? This photo, taken in HASSELBLAD HI-RES mode, is the answer.

Sharp, detailed, and every strand of hair and pore is visible. Actually, OPPO already introduced portrait AI enhancement with the Find X8 Ultra, which explains why its portraits look far better than most other phones.

But when the lighting is poor, the base detail is lacking, and the AI enhancement effect naturally weakens.


Main Camera

The main camera now has a larger sensor, meaning better image quality in low light. But honestly, flagship phone main cameras are already so good that the difference isn’t dramatic.

That’s why OPPO focused more on software optimization for the Find X9 Pro. For example, the Auto High-Resolution Option.

By default, the phone automatically increases resolution to 26MP or 50MP when conditions are right. Unlike other Android phones, this mode is specially optimized—it supports HDR capture and avoids typical demosaic issues like false colors.

When does it not activate and shoot at 12MP instead? Bingo—you guessed it. In very dark environments, it stays at 12MP to ensure each pixel captures enough light.

The only major drawback is file size. If you’ve got the 1TB storage version or a home NAS, I’d still recommend keeping this option on. Unfortunately, my favorite Master Mode doesn’t support this option.

As everyone knows, I love OPPO’s Hasselblad color style. It delivers a cinematic look, especially in low light. Highly recommended for anyone who buys the Find X9 Pro.


LIVE Photo

In HASSELBLAD HI-RES mode, there’s a new LIVE Photo feature called 4K Motion Photo. We compared it with the pioneer of Live Photos—the iPhone 17 Pro—to see what OPPO improved.

First, clarity. The difference in the Key Photo isn’t huge, but once the Live Photo starts moving, the Find X9 Pro’s advantage becomes clear. That’s because its motion frames are recorded in 4K, while iPhone’s are 1080P. So even if you change the Key Photo later, the Find X9 Pro’s image retains more quality.

This improvement is most noticeable in good lighting. In dim light, OPPO’s advantage narrows. Also, this mode only supports the three native focal lengths—no zooming in or out.

And the biggest downside, as you might guess, is file size. A Find X9 Pro 4K Motion Photo is roughly four times larger than an iPhone’s. So, if you’re still using a 256GB phone, make sure to go for a higher storage option.


Ultra-Wide & Selfie

The ultra-wide camera still uses the JN5 sensor, and so does the front camera. While the sensor itself isn’t great, the 15mm lens provides a 120° field of view, allowing you to capture visually striking shots when needed.

Selfie quality is also impressive—clarity is on par with the iPhone, but OPPO’s colors are more flattering, with more natural-looking skin tones. By the way, the beauty mode is disabled by default this time. So don’t be surprised—this is the real you.


Photography Kit

To keep up with trends, OPPO also designed a new photography kit for the Find X9 Pro.

Among its accessories, the magnetic handle is the most interesting one. With its MagSafe-style design, you can quickly attach or detach it—making it more practical to carry daily. If you’ve got money to spare, you can even use it with your iPhone. Just note that without a dedicated MagSafe case, the magnetic force is weaker—so for your phone’s and wallet’s safety, not recommended to do that.

Fans of Hasselblad will probably love the large orange shutter button on the handle. I’m quite happy with the handle itself, though the attachable lens part isn’t that exciting. It’s similar to vivo’s setup, offering the same functions as the Find X9 Pro already does.

The only real downside is that, unlike Xiaomi or vivo, you can’t attach professional camera filters using an adapter ring. Oh, and one more thing—it’s quite expensive, so think twice unless you’re a big spender.


Battery

Smartphone batteries these days keep getting bigger. The Find X9 Pro packs a massive 7500mAh cell, which gives it an edge over the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in long gaming sessions.

It supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. In our test, it takes just over an hour to fully charge, which is a bit slower than Xiaomi’s. Let’s just say—it’s “good enough.”


Final Thoughts

Now that Xiaomi, vivo, and OPPO have all released their flagships, which one is your pick?

Each has its strengths—and one clear weakness. Xiaomi’s camera focal lengths are poorly arranged; vivo’s battery is small; and OPPO’s Find X9 Pro—aside from that buggy-looking frame rate graph—is the most balanced of the three. But meanwhile, having distinct personalities is actually a good thing—it means everyone can find the phone that truly suits them.

Motorola Edge 70 color options and EU energy label leaks ahead of launch

Motorola’s next mid-range contender, the Edge 70, is shaping up to be one of the slimmest phones of the year. With its global launch set for November 5, a new batch of press renders and an EU energy label listing have spilled most of the remaining details — from its dimensions to battery life and durability scores.

According to new leaks shared by NieuweMobiel, the Edge 70 will come in two Pantone-certified finishes — Bronze Green and Lily Pad — and measure just 5.99mm thick while weighing a mere 159g. That makes it one of the thinnest mainstream smartphones on the market, matching the Chinese Moto X70 Air, which it’s reportedly based on. For context, Apple’s iPhone Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge weigh 165g and 163g, respectively — yet this Motorola manages to pack in a much larger battery than both flagships.

The secret? A high-density silicon-carbon battery that Apple and Samsung have yet to adopt.

The design sticks to a flat-edged frame with a punch-hole selfie camera and a triple rear setup, led by a 50MP main sensor, joined by a 50MP ultrawide and what appears to be a macro camera. Under the hood, expect the same specs as the X70 Air: a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 — a solid combo for Motorola’s mostly clean UI.

Thanks to the X70 Air, the battery capacity is already known to be 4,800 mAh, up from the 3149 mAh battery in the iPhone Air and the 3900 mAh in the S25 Edge. An EU Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) certification now confirms a certified endurance rating for the global model – 49 hours 34 minutes. Motorola also claims the battery can handle 1,000 charge cycles while retaining at least 80% capacity.

In summary, the Edge 70 isn’t just about being slim — it seems practical for anyone seeking a mid-range that looks and feels good in hand.

Here’s your first look at the Google Pixel 10a

Google’s Pixel 10 series is expected to be rounded out by the Pixel 10a, likely launching in 2026. As usual, we are getting the early details through leaks and rumors rather than official announcements.

A new leak has now given us a first look at the Pixel 10a’s design. OnLeaks, in collaboration with AndroidHeadlines, shared CAD-based renders of the phone, and on first glance, it doesn’t look much different from the Pixel 9a.

The phone retains the flush rear camera design, with no noticeable bumps. It features chamfered edges with the power and volume buttons sitting on the right. The device is said to measure 153.9 x 72.9 x 9mm and will have a slightly smaller 6.2-inch display, compared to the 6.3-inch panel on the Pixel 9a.

The renders also give away that the Pixel 10a will use a metal frame, as the antenna lines are clearly visible, while the back is expected to remain plastic.

What can we expect?

Specs-wise, there’s not much new to report. The Pixel 10a is expected to use the same Tensor G4 chip as its predecessor. That’s a bit of a letdown since Google’s Tensor chips have generally lagged behind the flagship offerings from Qualcomm and MediaTek. 

Meanwhile, other phones in the Pixel 10 series already run on the newer Tensor G5. Historically, Google has used a near-identical chip for its A-series phones, so it’s surprising the company won’t bring those improvements to the 10a.

On the bright side, we hope that the Pixel 10a might bring PixelSnap magnetic accessories support. PixelSnap also makes it easier to use even MagSafe-compatible attachments on the back of the phone.

OPPO has just introduced the Enco X3s, a new pair of true wireless earbuds that aim to deliver premium audio features without the premium price tag. These affordable pair of TWS earbuds arrive alongside the brand’s latest flagships, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. So here’s what we know.

OPPO Enco X3s: What does it offer?

The Chinese brand just unveiled its latest budget TWS earbuds with some features that are often found in premium models. Oppo’s Enco X3s arrives with an in-ear design with a dual driver system with 6mm flat diaphragm high-frequency unit and an 11mm composite diaphragm woofer that promises high end audio and punchy bass. These hearables connect via Bluetooth 5.4 with support for LHDC 5.0, AAC, and SBC audio codecs.

Oppo Enco X3s TWS Earbuds

Oppo has equipped the Oppo Enco X3s with a triple microphone setup for AI clear calls, with the earbuds also support AI Translate (only available with an Oppo smartphone). You also get up to 55 decibels for Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). On a single full charge, these earbuds can last for up to 11 hours with ANC disabled and 45 hours when paired with the charging case. Turning on ANC lowers the playback of the Enco X3s by 6 hours.

Other notable features include the HeyMelody app support, IP55 rating for water and dust resistance, DynAudio tuning for improved sound quality, and spatial audio support. Oppo has just announced the Enco X3s in the global market for 129 Euros, which is around 150 US Dollars. The company will be rolling out these earbuds in other markets outside of Europe soon.

Casio G-Shock GST-B1000D Series Debuts with Stainless Steel Design and Solar Power

Casio has started pre-orders for its new G-Shock GST-B1000D analog watches in Europe. The lineup includes three models: GST-B1000D-1A (black), GST-B1000D-2A (blue), and GST-B1000D-3A (green). Each watch costs €399 in countries like the Netherlands, France, and Germany, with shipping set to begin on November 7.

The GST-B1000D series was first unveiled in Japan, but it has not yet gone on sale there. These watches are part of the G-STEEL line and feature a more refined, minimalist look while keeping the toughness G-Shock is known for. The solid stainless steel bezel and bracelet use a mix of mirror, vertical, and circular hairline finishes that change with the light. The logo-free bezel and slim 11.6 mm case give the watch a clean, modern appearance.

The design takes cues from the original 1983 G-Shock DW-5000C. It keeps the brick-pattern dial and octagonal bezel while adding red, blue, and yellow accents that represent challenge, water resistance, and shock resistance. The GST-B1000D has a Carbon Core Guard structure with a case made of stainless steel and bio-based resin. Urethane buffers between the case and band improve shock absorption. It also includes a screw-lock crown, mineral glass, and water resistance up to 20 bar.

The watch is powered by Casio’s Tough Solar system, ensuring reliable performance even under low light. It pairs with smartphones via Bluetooth using the CASIO WATCHES app, enabling automatic time correction, phone finder, and location tracking features. The latest leak claims that the iQOO Neo 11R is in development as the successor to last year’s Neo 10R. Here’s what the new report suggests.

According to the tipster, the iQOO Neo 11R planned for India could be a rebranded version of the Dimensity 9400-powered Neo 10 Pro, which debuted in China in November 2024. To recall, the Neo 10R featuring the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 was launched in India in March this year.

At present, it is unclear whether the Neo 11R will arrive earlier than its expected March 2026 window. As always, it is best to take the leak with a pinch of salt since it is too early for anything concrete about the Neo 11R.

The device is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 50-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual-camera system on the back.

Powered by the Dimensity 9400 chipset, the phone comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. It packs a 6,100mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The device measures 8mm in thickness and weighs around 206 grams.

Meanwhile, iQOO is also gearing up to launch the iQOO Neo 11 in China. It is expected to feature a 2K 144Hz OLED screen integrated with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. The Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered phone may include a 7,500mAh battery with 100W charging support. It is scheduled to launch on Oct. 31 in China.

The updated images confirm that the iQOO 15 will also be available in a black variant. In China, the phone comes in a silver-red colour-shifting version and a green option as well. However, it remains unclear whether these two finishes will launch in India.

Amazon’s page further confirms that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powering the device will be paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM running at up to 9600Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage.

The iQOO 15’s display will support 2K resolution, and it will feature the Q3 supercomputing chip to enhance gaming performance with support for up to 144fps. It will also offer ray tracing support in titles such as Genshin Impact. iQOO is set to launch its latest Neo 11 smartphone in China tomorrow, and the leaks and teasers so far have revealed quite a lot about the device. If you’ve been following them, you probably already know some of the highlights. 

If not, tipster Digital Chat Station has now shared a more complete list of what the device will offer. And we’re adding the officially confirmed details too, so you get the full picture before launch day.

iQOO Neo 11 Overview

The Neo 11 features a 6.82-inch flat LTPO display with a 3168 × 1440 resolution, effectively a 2K panel, and supports a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen uses BOE’s Q10+ luminous material, paired with a standard AR anti-glare coating to trim reflections and such. 

The phone’s build includes a metal frame and a glass back. Meanwhile, iQOO has confirmed four color options for the Neo 11: black, blue, orange, and silver.

Under the hood, the Neo 11 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, along with iQOO’s self-developed Q2 independent graphics chip. Storage and memory are top-tier as well, featuring LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, while heat management is handled by an 8K vapor chamber cooling system.

On the gaming side, the Neo 11 includes iQOO’s Monster Core Engine to boost performance and a Power Acceleration Engine for faster response times. The display also supports a 3200Hz touch sampling rate and a 25.4ms touch response time.

The phone runs OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, and iQOO claims users can expect up to five years of smooth operation.

The Neo 11 features a 50-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back, though we’ll have to see how it performs in real-world use (stay tuned!). As for the battery, it packs a massive 7,500mAh unit, paired with 100W fast charging.

Oppo’s upcoming compact tablet will skip the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for the regular 8 Gen 5

A report from tipster Digital Chat Station earlier this week claimed that Oppo is working on a compact flagship tablet with an 8.8-inch OLED display. At the time, the tipster mentioned that the device would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

In a new update, however, the tipster now claims that the tablet will instead use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, reportedly to make it more affordable.

Qualcomm has yet to take the wraps off the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, although the company did tease it during the 8 Elite Gen 5 launch in September. 

The chip maker confirmed that it will share more details about the chip later this year, but didn’t provide a specific launch timeframe.

During a recent launch event, though, OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis said that OnePlus will be the first brand to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform. He also confirmed that the chipset is built on a 3nm process and features Oryon CPU cores.

It could be that Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 may not get a standalone launch event and could instead debut alongside the phone itself. It’s expected to power an upcoming Ace-series phone, which might launch globally as the OnePlus 15R. 

Getting back to the tablet, Digital Chat Station also notes that it will feature a slim body and a moderate-sized battery. Unfortunately, the tipster didn’t share any additional details about the device or what it might be called.

Previously, the same source suggested that the tablet could launch alongside Oppo’s next compact flagship phone. Based on rumors, the company may unveil the Find X9S by early Q2 2026 in China. If that timeline holds, the yet-to-be-named compact tablet will likely debut alongside the Find X9s.

The OnePlus 15 is not just another annual refresh. It’s a significant shift in OnePlus’s design philosophy, hardware execution, and display ambition. Compared to its predecessors, the OnePlus 11, 12, and 13, the new flagship moves beyond spec bumps and leans heavily into redefining the display experience, thermal engineering, and battery architecture, while carrying forward OnePlus’s hallmark camera and performance DNA. Here’s how it stacks up.

Display

The OnePlus 11 launched with a 6.7-inch 2K AMOLED display using Samsung’s LTPO 3.0 panel. It supported HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The OnePlus 12 and 13 followed with a 6.82-inch BOE 2K+ panel that reached up to 4,500 nits peak brightness and 2160Hz PWM dimming for reduced flicker. Both models received DisplayMate A++ ratings and featured Crystal Shield ceramic protection.

OnePlus 15 moves to a slightly smaller 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display but adds several industry-first technologies. It debuts the third-generation Oriental screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, supports high-refresh-rate content on apps like WeChat and Weibo, and features the industry’s first “True Hardware 1nit Dark Night Display.” The display includes hardware-level low blue light, an SVM of less than 0.12, and the world’s first “Little Gold Label” eye protection certification. The bezels are now 1.15mm thick on all sides, with a slim chin and square corners.

Performance & Cooling

The OnePlus 11 used Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, paired with UFS 4.0 storage. It had a redesigned heat dissipation system with improved graphite layers. OnePlus 12 adopted Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and improved the vapor chamber area to 9140mm². The OnePlus 13 went further with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and a larger 9925mm² VC chamber.

OnePlus 15 steps up with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and a new Glacier Cooling System. This system uses tearable steel material and aerospace-grade aerogel. OnePlus claims a 43% increase in vapor-liquid area and double the capillary absorption rate. The device features Android’s first “Touch Display Sync” for better touch accuracy and reduced gyro latency. The new G2 gaming network chip also reduces latency by 65.85% and improves update and video transmission speeds.

Design

The OnePlus 11 introduced a black hole-inspired design and silk glass. The OnePlus 12 adopted a luxury watch-inspired “Time Design” and shifted the alert slider to the left side for better antenna performance. The OnePlus 13 introduced new textures like ebony wood grain glass, and velvet leather.

OnePlus 15 features a more structural design shift with its Dune Aesthetic. It uses a metal cube deco layout with precise weight distribution and 1.15mm equilateral bezels for a balanced look and feel.

The phone supports IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for durability and includes a high-performance X-axis motor and dual stereo speakers.

Camera

OnePlus 11 debuted with a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor and 32MP 2x telephoto camera. The OnePlus 12 upgraded to the Sony LYT-808 and included a 64MP 3x periscope lens. The OnePlus 13 carried over the LYT-808 but used a new LYT600 periscope module and Hasselblad camera system.

OnePlus 15 switches to Oppo’s LUMO Condensed Light Imaging system. It features a triple 50MP setup with a Sony IMX906 sensor for the main camera, a 116° ultra-wide lens, and a 3.5x periscope telephoto lens. Features include 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video, up to 8K video recording, ultra-clear Live Photos, and AI-powered portrait lighting. The front camera remains 32MP with 4K 60fps support.

Battery & Charging

OnePlus 11 came with a 5000mAh battery and 100W fast charging. The OnePlus 12 raised capacity to 5400mAh and introduced 50W wireless charging. The OnePlus 13 improved energy density with a 6000mAh battery and added support for magnetic charging.

OnePlus 15 leads the series with a 7300mAh Glacier Battery. It supports 120W Super Flash Charge and 50W wireless charging. OnePlus claims that 5 minutes of charging can deliver 6 hours of streaming and 5000mAh can be charged in just 13 minutes. The phone also uses USB 3.2 Gen1 for faster data transfer and better thermal management during charging.

Conclusion

OnePlus 15 represents the biggest generational leap since the OnePlus 11. It introduces meaningful upgrades across display technology, thermal design, gaming features, and battery life.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 to debut with 2nm process, LPDDR6 memory, and UFS 5.0 storage

Since the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 debuted in September, we’ve already seen it power some of the best Android phones heading into 2026. The chip delivers a noticeable jump in raw performance, but it’s still built on a 3nm process. 

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to challenge it directly with the Exynos 2600, built on a more advanced 2nm process.

The Exynos 2600 will reportedly power the Galaxy S26 lineup alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite. And early rumors suggest Samsung’s chip could actually outperform Qualcomm’s in both speed and efficiency.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 could make 2026 flagships pricey

In Qualcomm’s favor, the company is expected to unveil its first 2nm-based chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, in late 2026. That timeline lines up with a recent leak from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

According to the report, Qualcomm’s next flagship SoC will be produced using TSMC’s 2nm N2P node, a more refined version of the first-generation N2 process that’s expected to be used for Apple’s upcoming A20 and A20 Pro chips.

The shift to 2nm fabrication should deliver the usual gains: better power efficiency and higher performance density compared to the 3nm process currently in use.

DCS also claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will introduce support for LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage.

But progress rarely comes cheap. The combination of a new manufacturing process, faster memory, and upgraded storage could drive up the overall cost of the chipset.

Because of that, Qualcomm’s next flagship might not appear in every high-end phone next year. Instead, rumors suggest that the regular flagship models could use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, while the pricier Ultra versions might be reserved for the more powerful Elite variant.

HMD Global, the Finnish company best known for manufacturing and distributing Nokia phones, has quietly launched a new smartphone, but not under its own name. The new M-Kopa X30 comes through a collaboration with the Kenyan fintech company M-Kopa.

HMD and M-Kopa have been working together to make smartphones more affordable in African markets through M-Kopa’s “pay-as-you-go” financing model. 

HMD provides the hardware and software expertise, while M-Kopa handles distribution and flexible payment plans, so that more people can get access to modern smartphones without upfront costs.

M-Kopa X30 Specifications

Under the hood, the M-Kopa X30 packs a Unisoc T615 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It runs on Android 15 with HMD’s own AI enhancements sprinkled in. The phone has a 6.72-inch Full HD+ display (2400×1080) with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

As for the cameras, the X30 features a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a surprisingly high-resolution 50-megapixel selfie camera on the front. 

The camera has a few AI tricks up its sleeve, like AI Remix Shots, which automatically picks the best expressions in group photos, and gesture selfies, allowing users to snap a shot just by blinking or flashing a peace sign.

Speculations are rife that the Honor GT 2 would be a good rival for the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6 Turbo. The reason behind that is both phones are expected to feature the same upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

A recent leak claimed that the Ace 6 Turbo will have an 8,000mAh battery. At the same time, rumors surrounding the GT 2 suggest that it may pack an 8,800mAh battery. Both phones are also said to support 100W charging.

Other rumored common features on both phones include an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor and a metal middle frame. While there is no information about the RAM and storage configurations of the Ace 6 Turbo, the GT 2 may arrive with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The Ace 6 is said to have a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera setup. At present, there is no information about the Honor GT 2’s camera specifications. Both phones are expected to debut by December in China.

As far as the Honor GT 2 Pro is concerned, it is expected to feature the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. However, the rumor mill is yet to leak other details of the Pro variant.

HyperOS 3’s Hyper Island unlocked for all Redmi and Poco phones — but there’s still a catch

Xiaomi’s slick new Hyper Island feature — the pill-shaped live activity hub introduced with HyperOS 3 — is no longer exclusive to premium devices. A recent software tweak quietly unlocked it for Redmi and Poco phones as well, though there’s a small trade-off for budget users.

According to insider PaperKing13, HyperOS build 3.0.23 removes the code that previously blocked Hyper Island on most Redmi and Poco models. This means all handsets from Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco that are eligible for HyperOS 3 will get the Dynamic Island-style notification feature, which displays things like music controls, timers, or ride updates.

But there’s still one caveat: Hyper Island animations are disabled on devices with limited RAM. The island will still appear and function normally, but it won’t have the polished transitions seen on higher-end phones. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the cutoff point, though it’s likely around 6GB of RAM or less.

Xiaomi is taking its next big software step with HyperOS 3, an update built on Android 16 that aims to deliver smarter AI features, smoother performance, and a slightly updated interface. The rollout begins with the Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro in Europe, with more devices to follow in the coming months.

According to Xiaomi, the global rollout will expand in stages through early 2026. Beta users are the first to receive it—others can check for the update under Settings > About Phone > System Update.

The initial wave (October–November) covers the Xiaomi 15 series, 15 Ultra, Redmi Note 14, and Poco F7/X7 lineups. From November to December, it is expected to reach the Xiaomi 14 series, Poco F6, and several midrange Redmi models. The final phase (December–March 2026) includes older flagships like the Xiaomi 12 and 13 series, ensuring most recent devices get the upgrade.

New features:

One of the biggest additions is Hyper Island, a pill-shaped hub at the top of the screen that combines notifications, live activities, and quick actions into a single space. It works with over 70 apps and services, letting users control music or reply to messages without switching apps.

HyperOS 3 also introduces several AI-powered tools:

DeepThink Note Writing – expands ideas into detailed notes or summaries.

AI Voice Translation – provides real-time, multilingual translation.

AI Noise Reduction – improves recorded audio clarity.

Gallery AI Search – helps find photos by content or objects.

However, it’s still unclear whether these AI features will roll out across all models or remain exclusive to Xiaomi’s premium devices. Many of the tools, including image generation, are powered by Google AI and likely run on cloud servers rather than locally.

While Xiaomi’s top of the line smartphone gets a dual display setup, Redmi’s premium smartphone also gets a unique feature on the rear. Alongside its camera lenses, there is a dedicated woofer with ‘Sound by Bose’, which is a part of the 2.1 stereo sound field that includes the dual speakers.

Just like how the Redmi K90 Pro Max borrows the display from the 17 Pro Max, the K90 Pro Max borrows its main camera from another Xiaomi 17 series model. It arrives with a 50MP 1/1.31″ Light Fusion 950 sensor with OIS that is also found on the standard Xiaomi 17. This is paired with a 50MP ultra wide angle lens and a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto shooter (a first for the brand). For selfies and video calls, the front houses a 20MP camera.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max packs a larger 50MP Light Hunter 950L main sensor (1/1.28″), 50MP ultra wide angle lens, and 50MP periscope telephoto shooter with 5x zoom. There is also a 50MP shooter for selfies and video calls. Apart from better hardware, this model also brings Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica.

Lastly, let’s talk about the pricing. Xiaomi sells the 17 Pro Max with a starting price tag of 5,999 Yuan (roughly 841 US Dollars) for the 12GB + 512GB starting option. Meanwhile, the 12GB + 256GB base variant of the Redmi K90 Pro Max costs 3,999 Yuan (roughly 561 US Dollars). The higher 12GB + 512GB option costs 4,499 Yuan. So choosing between the Redmi K90 Pro Max and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max comes down to what you prioritize most.

Dreame has officially stepped into the home audio segment with the launch of its first two soundbar systems: the Pano S1 and Pano S2. Samsung’s foldable lineup has come a long way, but one thing has stuck around since the very first model — that visible crease down the middle of the screen. Now, a new report suggests the Galaxy Z Fold 8 might finally be the one to smooth things out, both literally and figuratively.

According to Korean outlet Deal Site, Samsung plans to use an ASP laser-drilled metal plate under the main display to eliminate the crease entirely. The component, dotted with microscopic holes to allow bending without stress marks, should keep the screen looking flat while maintaining the device’s signature foldability. The technology was first rumored earlier this year and could debut in mid-2026. Interestingly, Apple is said to be exploring a similar approach for its first foldable iPhone, expected in 2027.

3D printed and hand-crafted drone breaks 585 km/h speed record

In a small garage turned workshop, a father and son have built what might be the world’s fastest drone — and it wasn’t made in a lab, but on a 3D printer. The Peregreen 3, a hand-crafted quadcopter designed by Mike Bell and his son Luke Maximo Bell, has reportedly hit 585 km/h (363.5 mph) in a test flight, breaking the previous drone speed record by 27 km/h.

The record-attempt flight, documented with GPS and onboard video, still awaits Guinness certification as of writing. But it continues a streak for the Bells, who have been chasing speed records for years. Their last model, the Peregreen 2, topped out at 480 km/h — already among the fastest in the world.

The Peregreen 3’s secret is brute force and clever engineering. Its electric motors pull 16.2 kW at peak power, almost double the output of its predecessor, with energy supplied by a 16 kW battery pack. The entire drone weighs 2.77 kg, a full kilogram heavier than before, but gains stability from custom APC propellers designed to avoid supersonic tip speeds.

After an early prototype caught fire, the pair introduced a 50 ml water-cooling system to replace air vents and reduce drag. They also reworked the GPS setup, mounting the receiver directly on the camera to eliminate interference. The result: a more aerodynamic, cooler, and faster craft.

Each flight lasts just under two minutes — full-throttle runs are capped at about 23 seconds to prevent total battery drain. But that’s long enough to prove their point: DIY engineering can still move at blistering speed.

With a few printers, CAD tools, and a lot of persistence, two builders managed to outrun billion-dollar research teams — and they’re already planning the next iteration.

The liquid crystal layer also features a restructured architecture to further improve motion clarity.

In terms of color performance, the display offers HDR400 support and reaches 400 nits of brightness. It covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 130% of the sRGB area, with 10-bit color (8-bit + FRC) rendering over a billion colors. The panel supports DC dimming and includes a hardware low blue light mode to reduce flicker and eye strain during extended gaming sessions.

It’s the season of flagship Android wars in China. Almost every major brand has unveiled a new device in the last month or so, each equipped with the latest processors, top-tier displays, and, thankfully, bigger batteries.

The Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 are two such contenders. On paper, both devices come loaded with high-end hardware, eye-catching designs, and the latest chips from MediaTek and Qualcomm.

But peel back the specs and the differences start to show. So let’s break down what really sets them apart.

Design and Build

Both the Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 share similar dimensions. It measures around 150mm tall and weighs just under 200 grams. They’re slim, premium slabs that feel engineered to impress.

Vivo’s design features glass on both sides, paired with an aluminum alloy frame, while Xiaomi opts for Dragon Crystal Glass on the front, complemented by an aluminum frame.

Both phones are IP68 rated, meaning they can withstand accidental water drops and dusty environments. However, Vivo takes it a step further with an IP69 rating, enabling it to withstand high-pressure water jets. That’s rare even among flagships, though it’s unlikely to make a meaningful difference in real-life use.

Display

Both phones use LTPO AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates and 2160Hz PWM dimming, making them easier on the eyes at low brightness. Vivo’s display measures 6.31 inches, while Xiaomi’s is roughly the same at 6.3 inches.

Brightness is where Vivo pulls ahead. The X300 peaks at a massive 4,500 nits, while Xiaomi reaches up to 3,500 nits. Both are extremely bright and should deliver great outdoor visibility, regardless of the numbers.

In terms of color, both screens support HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and advanced tone mapping. Xiaomi adds Dolby Vision to the mix, giving it an edge when watching supported content on Netflix or YouTube.

Resolution-wise, both hover in the 1220–1260p range, offering crisp text and smooth visuals.

Performance: MediaTek vs Snapdragon

The two phones take very different approaches to performance. The X300 runs MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, a 3nm chip with ARM C1 cores clocked up to 4.21GHz.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, ships with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, also built on a 3nm process and equipped with custom Oryon V3 cores running up to 4.6GHz.

On paper, Snapdragon’s architecture has the upper hand. It uses two 4.6GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L cores and six 3.62GHz Phoenix M cores, paired with an Adreno 840 GPU—delivering top-tier gaming and raw compute performance. The Dimensity 9500’s 4.21GHz C1-Ultra and 3.5GHz C1-Premium cores aren’t far behind, and MediaTek’s Arm G1-Ultra GPU is also powerful.

In real-world use, both phones should feel incredibly fast. Scrolling, multitasking, and gaming happen without hesitation. Vivo’s OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16) feels smooth and responsive, while Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 offers deep customization and similarly slick performance.

Cameras

This is where things get interesting. The Vivo X300 features a bold 200MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide. The system is tuned by Zeiss and includes Zeiss T* lens coating, laser autofocus, and even 3D LUT import for pro-grade color work.

The Xiaomi 17, meanwhile, sticks to a more traditional 50MP triple setup—50MP main, 50MP telephoto (2.6x optical), and 50MP ultrawide—with Leica-co-engineered optics.

Both phones offer flagship camera performance, and the final quality will come down to ISP tuning and post-processing. However, Vivo holds a clear advantage in flexibility, thanks to support for external photography accessories, including a telephoto extender that can deliver crisp shots at up to 200mm.

On the front, both devices use 50MP selfie cameras with 4K video support, but Xiaomi goes further with HDR10+ video capture and gyro-EIS.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is where Xiaomi dominates. The Xiaomi 17 packs a huge 7,000mAh cell along with 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Vivo’s 6,040mAh battery with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging still offers strong endurance, easily lasting a day and a half, but Xiaomi simply goes farther. The difference between 6,040mAh and 7,000mAh will be noticeable, especially for heavy users.

Audio and Connectivity

Both phones skip the headphone jack but feature stereo speakers. Xiaomi’s setup is tuned for Dolby Atmos and Snapdragon Sound, with Hi-Res 24-bit/192kHz playback. Vivo’s speakers are clean, but lack Dolby branding.

Connectivity is top-tier on both devices, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, infrared, and multi-band GPS. Vivo adds eSIM support internationally, which Xiaomi lacks, while Xiaomi includes DisplayPort output over USB-C, allowing it to connect directly to a monitor.

Verdict

The Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 show how differently two brands can approach the same idea: a compact 2025 flagship.

The Vivo X300 stands out with its brighter display, Zeiss-tuned 200MP camera, and cleaner design. It’s ideal for users who prioritize photography and aesthetics.

The Xiaomi 17 shines with its massive battery, Leica tuning, Snapdragon performance, and superior audio. It’s the better fit for power users who value endurance and versatility.

There’s no outright winner—just two flagships excelling in their own way.

Leaked Geekbench 6 CPU scores suggest performance on par with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 of the Edge 60 Pro. The display sounds premium as well: a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED panel with 120Hz refresh, 4,500 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The camera setup features 50MP main and ultrawide lenses on the back, paired with a 50MP selfie shooter.

Where things really heat up is pricing. While Motorola hasn’t confirmed global prices yet, the Edge 70—sold in China as the X70 Air—appears to be positioned as an affordable rival to Apple’s iPhone Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. In China, it’s available in two variants: 12GB + 256GB for 2,599 yuan (~$365) and 12GB + 512GB for 2,899 yuan (~$410).

For international buyers, Motorola appears to be stacking generous launch offers that could amount to over €550 (~$640) in savings through early-bird vouchers and regional promos. If those carry over to the final pricing, the expected €699 (~$760) tag could dip into Pixel 9a territory—a seriously competitive spot for what’s shaping up to be a near-flagship phone.

The Edge 70 will debut in Europe first, with India and the US expected to follow by December.
