Samsung Intelligent Eyewear must be a solid answer to Meta AI Glasses

23 June 2026 at 22:04

Samsung’s AI-powered Galaxy Glasses have not even entered the market yet, and Meta has already made its move. Starting at $299, Meta’s new AI-powered glasses are entering the market at a point where regular consumers can actually consider buying them.

The smart glasses race is getting serious, and Meta just fired the first major shot with a product that targets the biggest weakness in emerging wearable categories: price.

For Samsung, which is reportedly preparing its own Galaxy Glasses as part of its XR strategy, this is the kind of early momentum that cannot be ignored.

The new Meta Glasses lineup, developed with EssilorLuxottica, comes in multiple styles, including Adventurer, Fury, and a Kylie Jenner collaboration.

  • Meta Adventurer: A clean rectangle shape for a timeless, versatile look. Available in Standard and Large.
  • Meta Fury: A bold frame that makes a bold statement.
  • Meta Glasses by Kylie: A unique slim oval frame designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner and inspired by her personal style.

Meta AI Smart Glasses

The company is bringing Meta AI, powered by its new Muse Spark multimodal model, giving the glasses a stronger focus on real-world interaction.

The glasses feature open-ear audio, wind noise reduction, an 8-hour battery life, and a charging case that extends usage up to 40 hours. Meta is also preparing features like pedestrian navigation and expanded live translation support with 14 new languages.

Samsung’s Galaxy Glasses could still bring something different. The company has years of experience building polished consumer hardware, displays, cameras, and mobile integrations.

If Samsung combines that expertise with Galaxy AI, it could create a strong alternative.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 keeps the familiar design, changes what’s inside

23 June 2026 at 21:31

We have had our early unofficial looks at Samsung’s upcoming foldables, but the smartwatches remained a mystery. Credible tipster Onleaks changed that today by revealing the Galaxy Watch 9 design through CAD renders.

Samsung is expected to unveil two Wear OS watches next month. The second-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra is coming alongside the Watch 9. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to be held on July 22 in London.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 keeps the familiar design

Galaxy Watch 9 renders reveal a familiar design and shape. Samsung is retaining the design that already works rather than making changes. The Watch 9 keeps its squircle design approach, featuring a circular screen.

Samsung’s squircle design decision makes the smartwatch durable. The display is protected by a uniquely crafted frame that looks classy yet elegant. Watch 8 was a major overhaul over the Watch 7, but Watch 9 is a refined version.

Galaxy Watch 9 will be available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. AndroidHeadlines reconfirms the recently leaked colorways, which promised Cream and/or Graphite for smaller ones and Silver and/or Graphite for larger ones.

The model shown in leaked renders features bands painted in Green. The combination is catchy enough, offering a decent appearance. Well, Samsung is rumored to bump the prices of its upcoming smartwatches.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset could power the Galaxy Watch 9. The next-gen smartwatches will run the latest Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch.

Power efficiency improvements are likely, thanks to the Qualcomm chip and Wear OS 7. It will also have on-device AI capabilities, expanding from mobile phones to wearables.

Will Galaxy flagship see 7 OS updates without green line issue?

23 June 2026 at 19:25

The last three generations of Galaxy S-series will receive 7 years of software support, but issues like green line raise a question of whether the flagship quality experience will remain consistent with the software lifecycle.

Hardware issues like green or pink lines have become a headache for existing users. It doesn’t take away the touch functionality, but makes the display look extremely unpleasant.

In the past couple of years, this issue has appeared in various Android devices, but the Galaxy flagships have received special attention. There are two reasons for that: the more frequent emergence and the large user base.

Take Galaxy S22 as an example; it was the first to be widely recognized for the green line issue. Though Samsung took some steps to replace the screen free of cost, that doesn’t make any difference. Why? Because the problem shouldn’t have appeared in the first place, affecting many users.

Launched in 2022, the Galaxy S22 is eligible for four OS updates and five years of security patches. So, the phone has completed its update OS cycle with Android 16 (One UI 8.0). Interestingly, the green line issue appeared around the Android 14 update.

The Galaxy S23 series is eligible for the same OS update tier, making Android 17 its last major release. Before that happens, Galaxy S23 users are also reporting the green line issue.

Many users found this occurrence after upgrading to the One UI 8.5 software update, but the root cause remains unknown.

However, theories suggest that internal heat could be the primary cause, which deteriorates pixels in a certain pattern primarily vertically. Some believe that it is the degrading display panel quality. We’ve also seen community suggestions such as keeping the phone in a cool place before updating or installing the update overnight.

What are the odds?

The Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra use the M11 display, and the problem in both generations is also common. What about the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the S25 Ultra devices? They use M13 panels. So, there’s a chance that they may not age the pixels the same as the S23 and S22 series.

However, unlike the Galaxy S22 and S23 series, the S24 series and later flagships are eligible for 7 OS updates and 7 years of security updates. So, they have three more years than their predecessor.

If M11 can show issues like green and pink lines within three years of their launch, M13 should be showing it around 5-6 years? Maybe or maybe not. Or is this issue limited to the M11 panels featured in S22 and S23 series devices? There is no clarity surrounding its origin.

For now, the S24 series has only installed two major updates, and there are five more left to test its hardware against the very problem that is making users worry about their devices in the long term.

Apple and Samsung users get better RCS messaging experience

23 June 2026 at 17:05

Apple iOS 27 Beta 2 update is improving the messaging experience between iPhone and Samsung/Android users by adding better support for RCS features.

The update introduces (via AndroidAuthority) native emoji reactions and inline replies for cross-platform conversations. Previously, reactions sent from an iPhone to an Android device often appeared as text-based descriptions.

With the latest change, supported reactions now display as actual emojis on both platforms. Apple has also expanded Photomoji support, allowing users on both sides to interact with the feature.

The new capabilities are based on the RCS 2.7 Universal Profile standard, which gives Apple and Android devices a more unified messaging foundation. This could open the door for additional features, like message editing and unsending.

It’s worth noting that Apple’s move follows the introduction of default end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging in the stable iOS 26.5 release.

The company has gradually expanded RCS support since bringing the standard to iPhone, reducing some of the long-standing differences between iMessage and Android messaging experiences.

Samsung has colorful upgrades for Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8 Wide and Ultra

23 June 2026 at 16:31

Samsung has a very colorful lineup of 2026 foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 series. The three foldable phones will launch in late July, but a new report has apparently revealed the potential color options.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be a compact phone with a clamshell-style design. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature wide cover and main screens. Meanwhile, the Z Fold 8 Ultra is set to succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 7 of the previous year.

Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 (Wide), and Z Fold 8 Ultra, each, will be available in four color options. The DigitalCitizen also revealed model numbers and storage variants, which include up to 1TB configuration for the Fold 8 series.

Among the colors, Cream and Graphite are the common colors across the three models. The remaining two are different for each smartphone. Samsung would decide a specific version as the hero color in commercial images.

Here are the leaked color options:

Galaxy Z Flip 8

  1. Cream
  2. Graphite
  3. Mint
  4. Pink

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide

  1. Cream
  2. Graphite
  3. Lavendar
  4. Pistachio

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

  1. Cream
  2. Graphite
  3. Green Shadow
  4. Violet Shadow

The leaked color options hint at a striking palette over last year’s boring shades. The Fold Ultra has two shades with “Shadow” suffix, which signal something more exciting than our imagination and expectations from Samsung.

Samsung is bringing a Wide Fold model to compete with Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The device reportedly shares a similar aspect ratio and screen size to its Apple counterpart, seizing the market before iPhone Ultra’s entry.

Galaxy Unpacked event may be held in London on July 22. Samsung hasn’t confirmed the venue or date; they just emerged in Korean reports. As we approach July, things will start to unfold as we await a mega launch event.

Samsung appears to separate Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 roles clearly

23 June 2026 at 15:48

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are getting their roles separated in 2026. A new leak has just revealed the sizes, colors, and variants of the upcoming smartwatch models Samsung plans to launch this July.

Galaxy Watch 9

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 9 in two sizes and two color options, as well as Bluetooth and LTE connectivity variants. Check the upcoming sizes, colors, connectivity choices, and model numbers discovered by DigitalCitizen.

  1. SM-L340N: Galaxy Watch 9 40mm Cream Bluetooth
  2. SM-L345F: Galaxy Watch 9 40mm Cream LTE
  3. SM-L340N: Galaxy Watch 9 40mm Graphite Bluetooth
  4. SM-L345F: Galaxy Watch 9 40mm Graphite LTE
  5. SM-L350N: Galaxy Watch 9 44mm Graphite Bluetooth
  6. SM-L355F: Galaxy Watch 9 44mm Graphite LTE
  7. SM-L350N: Galaxy Watch 9 44mm Silver Bluetooth
  8. SM-L355F: Galaxy Watch 9 44mm Silver LTE

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

Galaxy Watch 9 will offer a wide range of options, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will only appear in a single size and two color shades. Reports suggest a 5G-capable model will also be there, but it’s missing in the latest leak.

  • SM-L715F: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Titanium Gray LTE
  • SM-L715F: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Titanium Silver LTE

It’s worth noting that the colors of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 feature a “Titanium” prefix, which indicates that the next rugged smartwatch will retain a Titanium case, which Samsung abandoned in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Samsung will equip its upcoming watch or watches with the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset. The Galaxy Watch 9 may retain the Exynos W series chip, while the Snapdragon looks very likely for the second-generation Ultra Watch.

The Korean tech giant may hold a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. The month of June is about to end, and we may start seeing some official stuff linked to the upcoming devices.

Samsung TV owners in the US can now stream Instagram Reels, Stories, and channels

23 June 2026 at 12:44

Meta has quietly rolled out Instagram for TV to Samsung Smart TVs across the US, and if you’ve got a 2020 model or newer, you’re already eligible.

Meta started testing Instagram on TV a while back on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV. Samsung owns the biggest slice of the US smart TV market, so this expansion finally puts Instagram in front of the audience that actually matters. Combined with those earlier platforms, Instagram now covers most connected TV devices in the country.

Starting today, Instagram for TV is available on Samsung Smart TVs in the US, including 2020 model year TVs and newer. Combined with Amazon Fire TV and Google TV, Instagram is now available across the majority of connected TV devices in the US.

The features landing today go beyond just porting the app to a bigger screen. There are channels organized by interest, comedy, sports, and creator content.

Stories are now viewable without five people leaning over someone’s phone. Horizontal video gets its own dedicated space, which, honestly, should have existed from the start.

You can cast Reels from your phone directly to the TV. Found something worth sharing? A few taps and it’s up on the big screen. It’s currently live on Google TV and Fire TV, with Samsung presumably coming shortly.

Meta is exploring longer-form creator content, episodic series, and live broadcasts built specifically for the TV environment. These aren’t available yet, but Meta wants Instagram to compete directly with YouTube.

Galaxy S26 Ultra is a steal at $949 for Amazon Prime Day in the US

23 June 2026 at 12:12

Amazon is offering a never-before-seen deal on the Galaxy S26 Ultra flagship, taking its price down to just $949 in the United States. The smartphone is down $350 on the e-commerce site from its list price of $1,299.

Samsung offered such discounts as part of its preorder sale earlier this year. Since then, we’ve seen regular deals that cut the prices by up to $250. Prime Day sale is something different, stretching the discount range notably.

Galaxy S26 Ultra in its 256GB and 512GB storage versions is available on Amazon. Both variants are listed in four color variants, including Black, Cobalt Violet, Sky Blue, and White. The discount of $350 is applicable to both configurations.

On top of that discount, you can score an additional $50 on the same. For this, you need to apply for the Amazon Visa Card on Amazon. Upon approval, you will receive an extra $50 as a Gift Card to be used on Amazon later.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Prime Day Deal

Amazon has this deal as part of its Prime Day shopping season. The platform hasn’t specified until when the offer is available. Apart from the deadline, it would only be accessible until the stock lasts, so make your purchase right away.

Galaxy S26 Ultra is Samsung’s strongest flagship phone to date. It comes with the world’s first Privacy display tech. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip for incredible performance.

Samsung brought the device its ALoP camera technology. The device also offers the Horizon Lock camera feature that keeps the recording in the same orientation, which was at the time when the shutter was pressed to begin.

Galaxy S27 Pro rumors give Samsung fans reason to skip the S26

23 June 2026 at 09:31

Samsung is running a festive season sale in South Korea, and bargain hunters are rushing to buy the Galaxy S26 flagship. Well, shoppers are also confused whether to grab the Galaxy S26 right away or wait until the Galaxy S27 Pro arrives.

Consumers are afraid of a price hike on the Galaxy S27 series. The Galaxy S26 series has already become costlier than before, but Samsung’s seasonal sales are encouraging them to make their purchase with discounts.

Samsung is running a “Thanksgiving Festival with the People” through July 5 at over 1,000 online and offline retailers in South Korea. The shopping event offers a 20 percent rebate in digital Onnuri gift vouchers.

Even though the program is gaining traction, shoppers are getting stuck mid-calculation. They are finding the Galaxy S26 deal impressive, but the rumors of the Galaxy S27 Pro model are leading many to hold off on purchase.

Galaxy S27 Pro could bring a portable design with a 6.47-inch screen. The company is also testing Privacy display on the device, with a camera module expected to boast a 3.5x telephoto sensor along with two 50MP main and ultrawide.

Shoppers who are not in a rush are patiently waiting for the Galaxy S27 reveal. Ultra would be trending as always, but the Pro model is gaining special attention from the tech community given its Ultra-style specifications.

The month of June is about to end, and Samsung is gearing up for its Summer Unpacked. The event lands in late July, bringing three new foldable smartphones, two smartwatches, and an intelligent eyewear (smart glasses).

Seven ways UFS 5.0 could improve the Galaxy S27 experience

23 June 2026 at 08:20

Samsung just launched the UFS 5.0 storage solution, which is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 smartphones next year. The new memory chip offers several upgrades over the UFS 4.1, potentially elevating the S27 experience.

Galaxy S26 Ultra features a UFS 4.1 solution, which is mighty enough. Next year’s flagships would go even further with UFS 5.0 memory paired with LPDDR6 DRAM. On-device AI will land on a whole new level, thanks to these core upgrades.

5 ways UFS 5.0 could improve the Galaxy S27 experience

UFS 5.0 unlocks several key improvements, including faster data speeds, improved efficiency, and a smaller design. With read speeds of up to 10.8GB/s and write speeds reaching 9.5GB/s, it delivers over twice the performance of UFS 4.1.

The new memory standard also reduces power consumption by more than 40%, helping devices manage workloads more efficiently. Its compact 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm package allows more design flexibility.

Additionally, support for capacities up to 1TB makes it suitable for future smartphones, wearables, and other connected devices. Other options could include 256GB and 512GB, paired with next-gen DRAM semiconductor.

Samsung is placing a lot of emphasis on Agentic AI on Galaxy flagships. Galaxy S26 series marked the start, and the Agentic AI would expand further next year. That said, the UFS upgrade in the Galaxy S27 series will improve that aspect.

Software optimization is another way to improve the experience. Samsung’s One UI 9.5 optimization with Galaxy S27’s LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0 hardware would bring practical enhancements to the UX.

Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed UFS 5.0 for the Galaxy S27 series. However, the timeline of mass production aligns with the next-gen flagships. 2027 would witness the official debut of new premium phones with modern hardware.

Samsung and Apple drive the next smartphone upgrade cycle with AI

23 June 2026 at 07:36

AI is becoming the biggest selling point in the premium smartphone category. GenAI-capable smartphones are projected to represent 45% of shipments in 2026, up from 36% in 2025, with Apple and Samsung driving the upgrade cycle.

By 2027, that figure is expected to cross 52%, turning generative AI from a premium feature into a mainstream expectation. Samsung and Apple are positioned at the center of this transition.

Both companies are trying to convince users that AI, not another camera upgrade or faster processor, is the reason to replace an existing smartphone.

According to Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments are expected to fall 13.9% year over year in 2026 to 1.08 billion units, marking the lowest level on record.

Samsung moved earlier than most competitors with Galaxy AI, building a broader AI experience around features such as generative photo editing, live translation, writing assistance, and more contextual interactions.

Apple is taking a different route. With the iPhone 17 series, Apple expanded its AI capabilities across nearly its entire smartphone lineup. The upgraded Siri has Gemini capabilities at its core, handled by Apple systems.

Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak noted that GenAI capability has already become common in high-end smartphones above the $400 wholesale price point, but the industry still faces a major challenge.

Consumers have already seen AI photo editing, translation tools, and productivity features. The next step is convincing users that these capabilities save time or change how they interact with their phones.

A smartphone that can summarize information, manage daily tasks, understand personal context, and take useful actions without constant input could create a stronger upgrade reason.

GenAI Smartphone Forecast

Counterpoint Senior Analyst Karn Chauhan highlighted that Google Gemini has become a major foundation layer for premium smartphone AI, supporting experiences across Samsung, Apple, and other global smartphone brands.

Samsung and Apple are both protecting their own advantages. Samsung combines Galaxy AI with its Android ecosystem and hardware portfolio, while Apple relies on its tight software and device integration.

The next phase of the smartphone market will not be decided by who adds the most AI features to a spec sheet. It will be decided by which company can make AI genuinely useful every day while keeping devices affordable enough.

Samsung begins Apple foldable iPhone OLED display production with exclusive 3-year supply deal

23 June 2026 at 06:40

Samsung Display, the sole OLED display supplier for the foldable iPhone, has reportedly begun mass production of panels after receiving Apple approval.

Apple’s display supply chain is heavily leaning on South Korea, with Samsung Display and LG Display occupying the majority of the stake. Chinese vendor BOE has reportedly been ousted from the iPhone 18 Pro display supply.

Now, Apple has given the green light to Samsung Display to kickstart OLED production for its first foldable iPhone. The Korean tech giant is said to have secured more than 80 percent as the final yield, surpassing the standard.

The report (via SemiconductorsX) suggests that Samsung Display began initial mass production by activating a portion of its post-processing lines in Vietnam. The company plans to supply 3 million foldable OLEDs as the initial batch this year.

One thing that caught attention is that Samsung Display and Apple agreed to keep their strategic foldable OLED supply deal locked for three years. No other OLED vendor would be able to join the specific supply chain for three years.

Apple’s foldable iPhone would not just sell well, but also push the segment to new heights. Samsung will be facing tough competition and declining sales too, but it’s good for the market as consumers will benefit after all.

The iPhone foldable could come with a display featuring M16 OLED material set, polarizer-free Color filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology, and a 3D-printed hinge module, with launch expected in September this year.

An industry insider stated, “I understand that Apple is experiencing difficulties in stabilizing the production of the hinge module for its first foldable phone. There are no issues on Samsung Display’s end, and the release schedule depends entirely on Apple’s readiness regarding set components, especially the hinge.”

Samsung UFS 5.0 launches with 5 major upgrades for future AI devices

23 June 2026 at 05:36

On June 23, Samsung officially unveiled the UFS 5.0 mobile storage for future AI devices. The next-generation memory solution takes over the UFS 4.1, bringing five major upgrades for future on-device AI applications.

Samsung developed the world’s first UFS 5.0 mobile storage. The company also confirmed that the mass production of this product will begin in the fourth quarter of the year, targeting flagship phones, XR headsets, and AI wearables.

Here are the five upgrades Samsung’s next-gen storage solution brings:

1. Industry-leading 10.8GB/s storage speed

Samsung UFS 5.0 delivers sequential read speeds of up to 10.8GB/s and write speeds of up to 9.5GB/s, offering more than twice the performance of the previous UFS 4.1 standard.

2. Faster data processing for mobile devices

Thanks to intelligent management of a large amount of data, users can expect quicker response times when launching apps, transferring files, and performing demanding tasks.

3. Over 40% better power efficiency

Samsung improved UFS 5.0 power efficiency by over 40% compared to UFS 4.1. New technologies such as clock gating and multi-voltage support help reduce power consumption during data transfers.

4. Smaller design for more flexible devices

The UFS 5.0 package measures just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm, making it 16.7% smaller than its predecessor. The compact size gives manufacturers more flexibility for smartphone, wearable, and XR device designs.

5. Up to 1TB storage capacity support

Samsung’s UFS 5.0 solution will be available in capacities reaching up to 1TB. This provides future devices with more room for apps, media, files, and advanced software experiences while maintaining high-speed performance.

Looking ahead, Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series. The Pro and Ultra models are the strongest contenders in 2027.

Samsung and Amazon bring interactive video ads to TV Plus

22 June 2026 at 22:20

Samsung named its first wave of launch partners for a new interactive video ad format on Samsung TV Plus, built on Amazon Ads remote-enabled tech. Brands including Boiron USA, Logitech, PLAION, PMG, and Reckitt are first in line.

Watch a show, see an ad, click your remote, buy the thing. For brands selling on Amazon, viewers can add items to their Amazon cart straight from the TV. For everyone else, there are softer calls to action like “Send to Phone” or “Sign Up Today.”

Amazon Ads has its own numbers; it’s been circulating: interactive video drives six times higher brand searches, four times more add-to-cart actions, and five times higher purchase rates compared to standard formats.

Brands poured money into streaming inventory, called it full-funnel strategy, and quietly accepted that the bottom of that funnel was somewhere else entirely. Samsung and Amazon are now charging for the privilege of closing that gap.

Logitech, Reckitt, and Boiron all dropped quotes about discovery and frictionless paths to purchase. Every one of those brands is watching e-commerce fragment across screens and trying desperately not to miss the moment.

Samsung TV Plus inventory is activated through Amazon DSP, which means advertisers get Samsung’s FAST environment paired with Amazon’s shopping and browsing signals.

Additionally, Samsung announced that the TV Plus platform crossed 100 million monthly active users this year.

One UI 9 on Galaxy S26: Three new security features explained

22 June 2026 at 17:40

Samsung’s One UI 9.0 Beta is already running on the Galaxy S26, and most of the coverage has gone to the creative tools and accessibility changes. The security upgrades have been quieter, but they’re worth understanding.

New security features of One UI 9 are inspired by Android 17. Google has long been focused on security and privacy aspects, and version 17 is no exception. One UI 9 has three big improvements for security.

One UI 9.0 on Galaxy S26 enhances security

Android 17’s contacts picker limits what data apps can see in the first place. Auto Blocker’s high-risk detection stops dangerous apps from running even after they’ve landed on the device.

The Security Report gives you visibility over what’s been blocked. Maximum Restrictions closes the physical attack surface for users who need that level of control.

Proactive high-risk app detection

Previous versions of Auto Blocker were largely preventive; they stopped you from installing apps from unauthorized sources. In One UI 9, the Auto Blocker can detect a high-risk app that’s already on your device and stop it from running.

When something trips the detection, you get a warning, the app is blocked from executing or installing further components, and the system recommends deletion.

A companion feature called Manage Unknown Apps handles the discovery side of this. It gathers every app installed from outside the Play Store or Galaxy Store into one place.

Samsung One UI 9 Phishing App Risk Alert

Auto Blocker’s new Security Report

Auto Blocker has been part of One UI since version 6, but it’s always worked silently. However, Samsung’s new One UI 9 changes that with a Security Report section inside Auto Blocker.

It logs every time the system blocks an app from an unknown source. The last seven days show up as a list; switch to the Month tab, and you get a graph. It’s a small UX addition, but it makes the feature visible in a way it never has been before.

Full USB connection blocking

Auto Blocker’s Maximum Restrictions mode is the strictest setting. In One UI 8.5, that mode blocked USB commands but left the physical connection open. In One UI 9, Maximum Restrictions cuts off the USB connection entirely.

This prevents unexpected attacks where a compromised public charging port attempts to push data or software to your phone, and physical data-extraction attempts that work at the hardware level rather than through software.

Well, it’s an opt-in mode, not a default.

A 25-year Samsung record ends as SK Hynix rides the HBM success

22 June 2026 at 16:36

SK Hynix, this Monday, broke a 25-year Samsung record of being the most valuable company in South Korea. Riding the AI boom and HBM memory success, SK Hynix outclassed Samsung for the first time in its home ground.

According to KEDGlobal, SK Hynix market share surpassed Samsung Electronics, snatching a 25-year crown on June 22. Shares of the “now” most valuable company closed up 5.6%, lifting its market capitalisation to $1.35 trillion.

On the other hand, Samsung’s stock eased 0.14% to give it a market value of 2,066.7 trillion won, excluding preferred shares. Despite a broad business portfolio, Samsung surrendered its crown to SK Hynix due to the AI wave.

However, the Galaxy maker stated that its market cap should include preferred shares. Including those shares, the company’s value as of the market close stood at 2,246.4 trillion won, which is still ahead of SK Hynix.

“The emergence of customised AI memory fundamentally changed the industry’s economics and allowed SK Hynix to establish itself as the market leader,” said Kim Sunwoo, a senior analyst at Meritz Securities.

Samsung expands Qualcomm partnership from Snapdragon chips to AI data center accelerators

22 June 2026 at 16:15

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has started mass production of FC-BGA substrates for Qualcomm AI200 at its Busan plant. Qualcomm is targeting a second-half 2026 launch; Samsung Electro-Mechanics is moving in lockstep.

The AI200 is Qualcomm’s first AI accelerator built specifically for data centers, unveiled last October. It pairs a custom Oryon CPU with a Hexagon NPU and runs on LPDDR5 memory, which trades raw bandwidth for power efficiency.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has spent years supplying package substrates for Qualcomm’s application processors in phones and PCs. The AI200 deal marks the first time that the relationship bleeds into data center silicon.

Industry insiders say (via ZD Net) that the long-standing relationship made the AI200 supply agreement a relatively clean negotiation.

The AI250 is reportedly coming in 2027, which means Samsung Electro-Mechanics could be stacking recurring data center revenue on top of its mobile base.

The AI200 requires a lower performance threshold for FC-BGA compared to High Bandwidth Memory (HBM)-based AI accelerators. Therefore, the barrier to entry will be relatively low for LG Innotek, which is a latecomer to the FC-BGA industry.

Apple’s China OLED exit boosts Korea; Samsung and LG secure iPhone 18, Foldable iPhone and MacBook display supply

22 June 2026 at 12:59

Apple reportedly handed Samsung Display and LG Display of South Korea a big OLED display opportunity for the iPhone 18 Pro, foldable iPhone, and MacBook Pro.

The US tech giant appears to have exited China, for now, for OLED display supply. Korean firms, Samsung Display and LG Display, likely dominate the OLED display supply for the next-generation Apple products.

According to SemiconductorsX, Samsung Display and LG Display may supply all OLED panels for all the Apple devices coming in 2026. The two Korean companies have grabbed a 100 percent share, and it’s a big blow to China’s BOE.

Apple usually sourced OLEDs from BOE for the standard iPhone model. The company plans to postpone the standard iPhone release to early 2027. This year’s event could only bring the Pro and Pro Max models of iPhone.

iPhone 18 Pro line is expected to launch in September, and the Korean display suppliers have reportedly begun mass production of the panels.

BOE tried much, but Apple ended up excluding BOE from the premium OLED supply. The Chinese firm now have to wait for a few months as the standard model could be postponed.

In addition to iPhone 18 Pro models, Samsung Display and LG Display have secured huge orders for the next-generation iPad Mini and iPhone Ultra (the first foldable product from Apple).

Samsung could begin producing OLED displays for MacBook Pro next month as it aims to get its new production line functioning. Meanwhile, LG Display has secured the entire stack of OLED supply for the Apple Watch 12.

Samsung may launch two Privacy display phones in 2027: Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra

22 June 2026 at 11:05

Privacy Display is one of the most discussed mobile innovations of 2026. Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a hardware-level Privacy display feature, and if the rumors are true, the Galaxy S27 Pro may also bring this technology.

Samsung’s Privacy display feature is an innovative masterpiece. It’s backed by Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology. One UI atop hardware allows some decent tools to meet personal preferences.

Galaxy S26 Ultra is the first phone that comes with such a feature. When enabled, the OLED tweaks pixel lighting to dim the screen visibility from side views. It safeguards the on-screen content for others, while keeping the panel visible for the user.

Two Privacy display phones in 2027

Weibo leaker DCS revealed that Samsung is testing Privacy display on the Galaxy S27 Pro. The feature hasn’t been finalized yet, so we aren’t very hopeful, as the company has a history of reserving trending techs.

Galaxy S27 Pro reportedly boasts a 6.47-inch screen. It’s just a new screen size, which is completely different from previous flagships. That said, the phone will be a compact monster, while getting Ultra-level hardware capabilities.

Meanwhile, if the Galaxy S27 Pro gets a Privacy screen, the start of 2027 would witness a simultaneous launch of two flagships with the technology. 2026 brought one, but 2027 might be different, if the rumors hold.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Privacy Display

Samsung is currently focusing on the Summer Unpacked, reportedly holding on July 22 in London. Three foldable phones, two smartwatches, and an intelligent eyewear are on the agenda alongside the official One UI 9 reveal.

Galaxy S27 Pro might be as trending as the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2027. The phone is getting a capable camera setup, and the inclusion of a Privacy display would make it more appealing. Let’s see if Samsung brings the innovation to its compact flagship.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, Ultra 2 new design, colors, buttons and UI leaked

22 June 2026 at 10:32

Latest Samsung leaks reveal much more about the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches, which are set to launch next month. Credible inputs shed light on the design of the wearables as well as the refined user interface.

Galaxy Watch 9 will look familiar, but the design refinements are worth welcoming. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is getting some incredible revisions that influence its overall appearance and fix the biggest flaw of the OG model.

Samsung has made the Ultra Watch boxier than the OG model. The smartwatch reportedly features Classic-like clock numbering. The bezels are going thinner, the side button area is improved, and the Quick button color has adopted an Orange outline.

Samsung would bring its smartwatches in three colors, including Black, Silver, and Beige. GalaxyTechie shared even more insights, including band colors and designs, which are as follows:

  • Beige would be exclusive to the base variant.
  • Black version would bring a Bluish band stapled.
  • Silver variant would carry a Green band along.

Classic model, which is famous for the physical rotating bezel, isn’t coming this year.

On the software side, the software-sourced renders highlight the Sinus rhythm feature. Another picture spotlights the revamped icon for the Compass app.

Samsung is expected to hold the Galaxy Unpacked event in London. Korean media reports that the event could be held on July 22. The smartwatches will be unveiled alongside three foldable phones and potentially the smart glasses.

Galaxy Watch Ultra will bring steep battery life improvements. It’s reportedly getting a 34 percent bigger battery than the Apple Watch Ultra and 35 percent larger battery than the original Galaxy Watch Ultra released in 2024.

Samsung deploys ChatGPT Codex to help employees build software, apps, and automation tools

22 June 2026 at 07:51

Samsung is giving OpenAI’s ChatGPT Codex to every employee in its Device eXperience division worldwide, plus every worker in Korea across the full company.

OpenAI is calling it one of its largest enterprise deployments ever. Samsung’s DX division alone spans tens of thousands of people across continents, covering everything from Galaxy phones to home appliances.

As announced by OpenAI, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex are available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all Device eXperience (DX) employees worldwide.

Codex started as a code-writing tool, but Samsung isn’t deploying it only to engineers sitting in front of IDEs. Marketing teams, product developers, manufacturing staff, and anyone with a workflow that could benefit from automation are in scope.

Samsung OpenAI

An employee with zero coding background can theoretically describe what they want and get working software back.

ChatGPT Enterprise is bundled into the deal alongside Codex, covering the knowledge work side: research, drafting, data interpretation, and internal documentation.

Codex can enhance not only developer productivity through tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code, but also the productivity of non-technical teams in their day-to-day work.

The enterprise tier brings security controls and access management, which matters a lot when you’re Samsung and your employees are touching product roadmaps and supply chain data daily.

The relationship between the two companies was already bigger than most people realized. Samsung has been supplying advanced memory chips to OpenAI for next-generation AI infrastructure.

This deployment stretches that partnership into a completely different direction: workforce transformation, internal tooling, the day-to-day mechanics of how 300,000-plus employees actually get work done.

Samsung Music app Widgets adopt two design changes

22 June 2026 at 07:10

Samsung Music app is getting a fresh update at the start of this week, bringing two design changes to its Widgets. While the update is available for everyone, the changes are applied to the latest One UI versions (8.5 and 9.0).

Galaxy users must have the Samsung Music app on their devices. It’s available on Galaxy Store and boosts the media player experience. The application actively receives new updates with bug fixes and UI enhancements.

Samsung Music Widgets are getting better

With the latest update, Samsung Music has improved the visibility of interactive elements. The widget itself has gone a little bigger in the latest version. The size increase offers more space for the elements to brace the padding.

Additionally, the 3×1 layout has been replaced with a 4×1 style. The previous version allowed both 3×1 and 4×1 designs on the home screen, but the newer iteration restricts the customization, making 2×2 and 4×1 the only layouts.

Samsung Music Widgets

3×1 was indeed an option, but it never looked good on the homescreen. The 4×1 design is actually better, but Samsung shouldn’t have removed the 3×1 option as it was indeed a choice of many who want this anyway.

Instead of dumping 3×1, Samsung should have renamed the 3×1 to 4×1 in the Widgets Gallery. The 4×1 layout has been available on Galaxy devices for a long time.

The overall appearance remains the same on the latest version as well. Samsung has only made changes to the layout and sizing of the horizontal widget. The boxy option is almost the same as the one already available on the device.

Galaxy S26 FE gives Samsung’s failed chip a second chance

22 June 2026 at 06:19

Samsung tried hard to commercialize Exynos 2500 in late 2024, but failed after incredible efforts. Meanwhile, the company used the chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and it’s now getting a second chance in the Galaxy S26 FE.

A fresh Geekbench leak shows the Galaxy S26 FE runs the Exynos 2600 chip. The device’s initial performance scores are also revealed through the listing.

Exynos 2500 features a 4-cluster deca-core (10-core) CPU. It has one prime core, two performance cores, 5 mid cores, and two efficiency cores. The processor offers a peak speed of 3.3GHz and is fabricated using a 3nm process.

  • 1-Prime Core: ARM Cortex-X925/Cortex-X5 with a clock speed of 3.30 GHz.
  • 2-Performance Cores: ARM Cortex-A725 running at 2.74 GHz.
  • 5-Mid Cores: ARM Cortex-A725 with a clock speed of 2.36 GHz.
  • 2-Efficiency Cores: ARM Cortex-A520 with a 1.80 GHz clock speed

Exynos 2500 was a failed product; the reason was that it failed to achieve what it was made for. Galaxy S25 series would have handed a vast expansion, which Galaxy Z Flip 7 couldn’t.

Meanwhile, Samsung is continuing its Fan Edition chip strategy. Last year’s FE model borrowed the chipset from the 2024 flagships. Now, the 2025 flagship chip is set to power the Fan Edition slated for a late 2026 launch.

Galaxy S26 FE borrows design language from its parent models. The back panel incorporates a camera island, which looks incredible. Wireless charging is also getting a minor upgrade, which improves the magnetic connection.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S26 FE sometime in September this year. The company is preparing to hold an Unpacked event next month, which will introduce new foldables, smartwatches, and gear.

Samsung Art Store expands with over 5,000 4K artworks

22 June 2026 at 05:41

Samsung Art Store now carries more than 5,000 4K artworks from over 800 artists and 80 institutional partners. That’s not a library, but a museum that fits on a wall you already own, available through a single subscription.

At this year’s fair in Basel, Switzerland, running June 18 to 21, Samsung ran the Art Store Lounge. Visitors filled out a short survey about what catches their eye, what they want art to do in a room.

The lounge’s central Art Wall, built from Micro RGB, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame displays, then matched them to one of four curated themes: Geometric, Surreal, Vibrant, or Painterly.

“One attendee said, “I was surprised by how well the Vibrant theme matched my taste. The colors looked so rich on the Samsung Art TVs. I could picture one of those pieces bringing so much energy into my home.”.

Samsung’s 2026 Art TV Ambassador is New York artist Daniel Arsham. His custom bezel for The Frame Pro uses stone-like material with raised texture, referencing erosion and topography.

After the fair closed each day, Samsung’s story moved to Gare du Nord for “Art Night with Samsung Art TV,” a panel conversation with Arsham, Art Basel Paris Director Karim Crippa, and Samsung Art Store’s Head of Content and Curation Daria Greene.

In Basel, where the art world gathers around what comes next, Samsung Art TV offered a firsthand look at the future of art at home. On screen, a collection can grow with personal curation, new discoveries and the rhythms of daily life.

Samsung’s AI ambitions now depend on winning the HBM race

21 June 2026 at 19:59

Samsung isn’t playing defense anymore; the company’s Device Solutions Division held a closed-door global strategy meeting. To meet its AI ambitions, Samsung prepares to fix the HBM pipeline, lock in the big customers, and stop losing ground.

According to SemiconductorsX (via MojoTrick), the meeting Samsung held on June 18 was focused on HBM3E, the fifth-generation stack Samsung is still trying to push into Nvidia’s supply chain in meaningful volume.

Samsung also mapped out the road ahead on HBM4 and HBM4E, where it claims two notable firsts: mass production of HBM4 began back in February, and samples of seventh-generation HBM4E started shipping to customers last month.

The core agenda was the HBM supply strategy.

Discussions focused on how to expand the supply of 5th-generation HBM3E targeting major Big Tech customers such as Nvidia. Strategies regarding the supply of next-generation lineups (HBM4 and HBM4E) were also devised.

Long-term agreements were also on the table. Leading global firms are tired of supply volatility, so they’re asking for multi-year contracts. Samsung is trying to use those deals to stabilize revenue while adjusting production capacity to match demand.

Additionally, Samsung Foundry, along with System LSI, apparently got some airtime too. Both divisions have been underperforming.

The company has the roadmap, the milestones, and the executive attention; however, it is not yet the kind of unshakeable customer trust that SK Hynix spent years quietly earning.

5 improvements to notice in Samsung One UI 9.0 beta 3

21 June 2026 at 15:26

Earlier this week, Samsung released One UI 9.0 beta 3 for the Galaxy S26 series, and we’ve explored five improvements targeting the system and apps experience. If you are using the One UI beta, tag along and try to notice them by yourself.

Animations

The first thing is smoother animations; pulling down the notifications or quick panel shows a smooth, gradual unfolding of the content. Scrolling through the home screen and the content also feels slightly improved as well.

Camera fix

Users have previously reported this issue for the 30X camera zoom. The problem it used to create is that the focus automatically shifts away from the subject. It sometimes returns and sometimes remains blurred.

Another issue that was addressed in this update is the new camera preview screen, which previously cropped under certain conditions.

Performance

The one thing in this update is obvious, and that is the performance enhancements, specifically, the app openings are smoother and faster than the initial version. The app opening and closing sequence is also aligned with the smoothness.

Blackout bug fix

Last but not least, the random screen blackout bug is fixed with the One UI 9.0 beta 3. We’ve found this bug in the beta 2 while going back and forth through the background apps, but there’s no bug in this area any longer. That’s what I should give Samsung devs credit for resolving.

Battery

The beta 1 and 2 have been slightly offset from the good battery backup, but beta 3 has been performing well in terms of overall battery performance since installation. This experience might vary for testers, but we would like to read your own experience on this matter.

Conclusion

With these improvements, Samsung has really pushed the One UI 9.0 beta program to the next phase. However, there’s always room for more optimizations as we still have rollouts left before the stable release.

Samsung Media player gets 5 new changes in One UI 9.0

21 June 2026 at 12:27

Samsung One UI has different ways to control the media playback, including from the live notifications and lock screen, but One UI 9.0 gave these go-to destinations 5 new changes to enhance the user experience.

The overhaul includes both graphical and interactive improvements, regardless of which app you use to play songs in the background. We’ve compared this new experience with a previous One UI version and found a couple of new details.

Home screen

Here, we delve into the live notifications, which give you easy access to the media player from the status bar. However, now this compact window has interesting playback graphics.

One UI 9 media player

Notice how the music timeline has a new color spectrum waveform compared to a light and an accent color in the previous version. The album name and the artist are aligned in a single line.

This change has allowed the company to increase the song’s length, font, and timeline size. Additionally, the playback button has round background shapes that are subtle but easy to notice.

Lock screen

A more noticeable design shift will be found on the lock screen as soon as you expand the music now bar (which also contains the new colorful waveform).

One UI 9 media player

The album art contains the title and the artists, which were previously displayed below the album. However, the following section no longer contains the background shape wrapping around music controls. Instead, they are giving away a different vibe thanks to the new button background and that colorful timeline wavelength.

What makes these new visuals interesting is the animation. When you play/pause a song or move to the next, the system will show smooth animations to make it look interactive.

Conclusion

With One UI 9.0, Samsung is focusing on polishing the existing software design, and the new Music player is a welcome step for a better user experience.

Android 17 appears less exciting for Samsung Galaxy S-series

21 June 2026 at 08:46

Earlier this week, Google formally released Android 17, and some of its features indicate that this update is designed specifically for foldables, while missing major additions for flat-screen flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S-series.

Android 17 is tailored for large screens, especially foldables with features like app bubbles. It allows users to turn any app into a floating bubble icon, and it has a dedicated dock at the bottom of the screen. You can switch between apps with one tap and resize or maximize them to full-screen for faster multitasking.

Samsung phones already come with features like smart pop-up windows, which you minimize into a bubble. But Google’s version looks more streamlined.

The next feature is the new foldable gaming mode, using a 50-50 layout. It turns the second half into a dynamic gamepad, which is great for gaming in foldable devices.

The software has new parental controls and new security improvements, which will also make their way to Galaxy devices once the update is released.

Android 17

Samsung and Google’s partnership

Last year, Samsung made a huge change in its software release cycle. The company gave foldables first seat in launching a new Android version, and the Galaxy S-series brings a separate feature pack over the same platform.

For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 were the first to run One UI 8.0 out of the box, and the Galaxy S26 series was released with One UI 8.5. Both have Android 16 in the base.

Besides, Google has found two major global Android smartphone launch events to promote its ecosystem, and both come from Samsung, its biggest partner.

This year won’t be different; Samsung will bring a top Android executive to talk about the new foldable features, One UI 9.0, and the Gemini for foldable devices. However, it’s already clear that Android 17 is likely to miss any surprising elements for the Galaxy S-series, while prioritizing the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices.

One UI 9 Beta 4 update: When could Galaxy S26 users get the next build?

20 June 2026 at 18:00

Samsung Galaxy S26 users enrolled in the One UI 9 Beta Program are now looking forward to the next Beta build, Beta 4. Samsung pushed the third Beta update this week, providing 9 major improvements for better UX.

One UI 9 Beta 4 should further enhance the overall user experience. The company is expected to maintain a gap of around two weeks between Beta builds. That said, the next Beta isn’t probably coming next week, starting on June 22.

Samsung launched Beta Program on May 13 and released the first Beta. The company had also provided confirmation of Beta 2 release, which landed on May 26. Before Beta 3 rollout on June 16, Samsung confirmed its release date.

Similarly, Samsung users could receive a Members app notice, confirming the release date of One UI 9 Beta 4. This is the first Beta Program, which is seeing special attention from Samsung, from the communication angle.

One UI 9 Beta releases so far:

  • Beta 1 – May 13
  • Beta 2 – May 26
  • Beta 3 – June 16
  • Beta 4 – June 30 (expected)

Since Beta 3 arrived on June 16, Samsung should likely push the Beta 4 update on June 30. This is not a confirmed release date as software rollouts depend heavily on internal verification and tests by engineers.

One UI 9 official launch

Samsung has confirmed that the One UI 9 will officially launch with the upcoming Galaxy Z series phones. Reports suggest that the company may hold its Summer Unpacked event on July 22, which would also be the software’s release date.

Well, the official One UI 9 rollout won’t immediately start after the debut. Samsung would then expand the Beta Program to even more models. Meanwhile, the internal testing has already started for around three dozen Galaxy devices.

Netlist demands ban on Samsung HBM and DRAM in the US

20 June 2026 at 16:35

Netlist has filed complaints at the US International Trade Commission and the Eastern District of Texas, seeking an import ban on Samsung HBM and DDR5 RDIMM and MRDIMM DRAM AI memory product lines.

It’s demanding import bans (via SemiconductorsX) and sales prohibitions across the board, and it didn’t stop at Samsung. Notably, Google, NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Supermicro are also named alongside Samsung in the complaint filed by Netlist.

The patents at the center of this are U.S. Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937, both registered this year. The ‘537 covers vertically stacked memory dies with TSV structures, the core architecture inside every HBM chip Samsung ships.

The “937” covers a clock driver trick that repurposes an error signal line during initialization. Neither one, Netlist argues, is a JEDEC standard-essential patent, so Samsung can’t hide behind RAND licensing terms.

Samsung and Netlist signed a joint development deal back in 2015. Samsung walked in 2020. Two Texas juries have since handed Netlist $303 million and $118 million in willful infringement verdicts. Samsung kept shipping anyway.

Samsung Electronics previously entered into a licensing agreement with Netlist in 2015 but breached it in 2020. Despite twice receiving verdicts of willful patent infringement and damages awards (amounting to $303 million and $118 million, respectively) from federal juries in Texas, Samsung continues to import the infringing products into the United States.

C.K. Hong, CEO of Netlist, stated, “Netlist continues to lead innovative breakthroughs in the AI memory sector. This legal action expands our efforts to protect next-generation server DIMM and HBM technologies from unauthorized use.”

Samsung’s HBM3E is inside NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs. Those GPUs are inside data centers that half the AI industry depends on. A successful exclusion order wouldn’t just sting Samsung; it would have a very broad impact.

Samsung’s partnership with TikTok-like short-video platform turned into $3 million dispute

20 June 2026 at 15:36

Samsung isn’t the kind of company you stiff on a contract and walk away from clean; Triller learned that lesson the hard way, and it’s still learning it.

According to TheBiz, Samsung is seeking nearly $3 million from Triller after the short-video platform allegedly failed to pay for a Galaxy app promotion deal.

The dispute began in December 2020, when Samsung and Triller signed an agreement where Samsung would promote Triller’s app on Galaxy smartphones, with Triller paying based on installations.

Payments were made initially, but between April and September 2021, Triller stopped paying, leaving $1.81 million in unpaid principal.

Samsung filed for ICC arbitration in July 2022. Triller argued that some installations were generated by bots and raised concerns about suspicious traffic, but the company never completed its defense. Its legal counsel withdrew.

Triller did not submit a response or request a hearing; the ICC ruled in Samsung’s favor. Samsung then moved to enforce the award in the US federal court, where the Central District of California confirmed the judgment in May 2024.

With interest, arbitration costs, and legal fees added, the amount reached nearly $3 million.

The case continued after Triller’s parent company, Triller Group, listed a roughly $3 million “Samsung Arbitration Award” liability in its 2025 SEC filing.

Samsung used that disclosure to seek to add Triller Group as a judgment debtor, but the court denied the request due to procedural issues, allowing Samsung to refile after proper notice.

Triller Group was delisted from Nasdaq in December 2024 and continues facing creditor pressure. Samsung is pursuing enforcement through asset tracing and legal measures, showing the company is not ready to abandon the unpaid debt.

3 Google updates quietly improving every Samsung phone

20 June 2026 at 10:00

Your Samsung phone gets new One UI updates, Play system updates, and app updates. After installing the latest versions of the three, you might think everything is up to date. You might be wrong, as Google has three new updates for every Samsung phone that elevate the user experience behind the scenes.

Google is rolling out three updates, Android System SafetyCore, Android System WebView, and Google Play Services, to every Samsung phone. The availability of these updates may vary by region or carrier, but their arrival is certain.

System SafetyCore, System WebView, and Play Services are getting updated. You need to install them manually as they could stay outdated until your Samsung Galaxy smartphone receives a new One UI update.

Here are the latest versions:

  1. Android System SafetyCore (version 1.0.925574157)
  2. Android System WebView (version 149.0.7827.91)
  3. Google Play Services (version 26.22.33)

Patch/release notes are not available for these apps for now. Google may specify changes in a different way or medium, but the rollout is underway. You should install the latest versions to ensure the optimal state on your device.

Avoiding crucial updates may end up risking your phone with vulnerabilities, bugs, performance issues, and security problems. That said, ensuring their timely update should be your routine task after every One UI release.

Google’s System SafetyCore and WebView functions back various functionalities on Android. Certain features rely on these core apps, which you may think never existed, given their indirect backing rather than visibility.

How to update

The method to update these apps is something different and tricky. To do so, open your phone’s Settings, then Apps, and search for the apps by their names.

The searched app will be listed there, and you need to expand the page. Now, tap “App details in store” to get redirected to their listing page on Google Play Store, where you need to tap Update key.

Samsung Galaxy S23 shouldn’t be the next Galaxy S22 in 2027

20 June 2026 at 07:32

Samsung phased out the Galaxy S22 series (and some others) from a major software update rollout, and we hope the Galaxy S23 series won’t meet the same fate in 2027.

Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra aren’t getting the One UI 8.5 update, and they will spend their remaining life on One UI 8.0. Both versions are based on Android 16, but the difference in QPR versions is the primary culprit.

Well, Samsung has provided One UI 8.5 to a $200 smartphone as well, so it doesn’t mean that one is better than the Galaxy S22 flagships in 2026.

Samsung Galaxy S23 shouldn’t be the next S22 in 2027

Samsung has already disappointed millions of users of the Galaxy S22 series. One UI 8.5 upgrade is bigger than the One UI 8.0, which would have elevated the user experience in multiple ways, not limited to the user interface.

The Galaxy S23 series is eligible for the Android 17-based One UI 9.0 upgrade. The Beta Program of this software is already live in 6 countries. Design-wise, the software has no major upgrades as the focus is on overall refinements.

The company is reportedly testing One UI 9 for Galaxy S23 series internally. A previous leak suggested that the Galaxy S27 series will launch with One UI 9.5. That said, the next x.5 software is slated for launch in 2027 as well.

Samsung may continue its strategy of basing One UI on Android QPR versions. If the 2026 method is retained in 2027, the One UI 9.0 will ship with Android 17 QPR1 atop, while One UI 9.5 could be based on the QPR2 version.

Like the S22 series become ineligible for the last One UI upgrade, Samsung shouldn’t do it for the S23 series in 2027. The 2023 flagships have an even larger consumer base than the 2022 models, and it will also be extremely upsetting.

Samsung wants your home to be your doctor: Here’s the ambitious plan it just revealed

20 June 2026 at 06:46

At VivaTech 2026 in Paris, Samsung laid out a blueprint to turn the average household into a proactive hub for preventive medicine. Through an open network of connected devices and specialized healthcare partnerships, Samsung is positioning itself to shift medical/doctor screening out of clinics and directly into the home.

According to Hon Pak, Head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung Mobile eXperience, daily wellness is entering a brand-new era.

Rather than relying on single standalone gadgets, Samsung is tapping into its enormous global footprint, which currently supports 77 million monthly active users on Samsung Health and 460 million users on SmartThings.

By integrating home appliances, TVs, and wearables, the system sets up personalized automation routines to quietly manage family well-being.

Adding the Missing Diagnostic Layer

The core of this ambitious push relies on open collaboration with specialized health innovators to bridge the historic gap between hospital settings and domestic life:

SiPhox Health: Contributes a clinical-grade diagnostic layer, allowing households to track continuous biomarker data alongside wearable metrics through at-home blood testing.

Generation Lab: Supplies targeted solutions that allow users to measure biological age and manage aging right from the living room.

Xealth: Works directly with the ecosystem to seamlessly bridge daily home data back to traditional hospital clinical care.

Samsung envisions an AI-driven “daily companion” that understands individual biological needs to smoothly automate lifestyle improvements where people spend most of their time.

Looking at the next five years of healthcare in the context of the AI era, Pak concluded, “A daily companion that knows who I am, as well as what I need and when, will help me achieve my health goals seamlessly through lifestyle behaviors and connected innovative partner services.”

WhatsApp gets online indicator and new message animations on Android and iOS

20 June 2026 at 16:15

June 20, 2026 | WhatsApp is rolling out a minor visual upgrade that makes a great positive impact on the user experience. WhatsApp is testing a new online indicator for Android devices, which is a familiar Green Dot.

As discovered by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will show a Green Dot on profile icons when the contact is online on the messaging app. Instagram and Telegram users are familiar with the online indicator, which is being prepared for WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Online Indicator

June 19, 2026 | WhatsApp Beta in iOS brings back smoother message animations. The app’s Android Beta has recently adopted new animations, which are now expanding to Apple users after a brief pause in previous Beta builds.

Recently, WhatsApp Android Beta added smoother message sending animations. Apple users who are testing WhatsApp Beta are now getting (via WABetaInfo) this visual improvement as well.

WhatsApp Beta for iOS 26.24.10.70 carries the visual changes for Apple devices. They appeared on Android as part of WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.26.23.11 last week.

The new animations ensure a more lively chatting experience on the page. Tapping the send button will no longer immediately surface the message bubble.

Rather, the message bubble will carry a smooth animation to appear alive by fading smoothly. WhatsApp is also bringing controls, so you don’t have to end up dealing with the animations as a necessity.

The animations will also be in effect when you receive a new message. The iOS version, which replaced the previous one, is something different from Android.

Unlike the previous animation effect, the message bubble now fades in while slightly scaling up as it settles into the conversation, which feels noticeably smoother.

The option is available within WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Animations, where users can control animations for emojis, stickers, and GIFs.

WhatsApp Android Animations

The changes are currently limited to the Beta version of the application. Users will receive the new animations once developers verify the stability of these visual improvements.

Google officially released the Wear OS 7 update for Pixel Watch models. The new wearable platform introduces a battery life boost, Live Updates, Gemini Intelligence, and cross-device connectivity.

Samsung will bring the new wearable operating system to its Galaxy devices through the One UI 9 Watch update. A Beta Program was assumed to have already started, but users are still awaiting an announcement.

Meanwhile, Samsung is more widely rolling out its May 2026 security patches. In the latest expansion, the fresh security patches have started to arrive on 8 Samsung Galaxy Watches in the US.

The May 2026 update’s changelog clearly states that the OTA includes the most up-to-date Android security patches. However, the OTA has even more to offer, which Samsung hasn’t even mentioned in the changelog.

Galaxy Watch users found that the problem had been resolved after installing the May 2026 security update. It was initially dropped in South Korea, and a major expansion brought it to users in the United States.

Samsung may have also included system optimization inside. System cache and junk data will also be cleared during installation, which would provide an enhanced user experience.

  • Galaxy Watch 4 Classic – R885USQS2JZE1 (42mm) / R895USQS2JZE1 (46mm)

How to activate Theft Protection features on your Samsung phone

19 June 2026 at 21:50

Your Samsung phone has two great features to safeguard your data and privacy under the Theft Protection section. This intelligent feature kit provides a necessary shield to your Galaxy phone in case it gets stolen while you use it.

Think you are roaming outside and using your phone for surfing or attending an important phone call. You suddenly come to know that someone snatched your device from your hands, leaving you shocked at the moment.

Smartphones are no longer just communication devices. They have become a crucial part of our lives as they store credentials, digital keys, banking apps, and digital identity. Losing the phone means you are losing almost everything you digitized.

Samsung phones have a Theft Detection feature, but it must be enabled manually. When enabled, it ensures your phone locks itself if a possible theft is detected. It has been designed brilliantly and works the way it should.

Smartphone theft can happen unexpectedly, but taking a few minutes to enable Theft Protection can help safeguard your data and privacy.

The suite of these intelligent security tools can automatically lock your Samsung smartphone when theft is detected, lock a phone when it goes offline for an extended period, and even allow users to remotely lock their device.

Technically, Theft Detection Lock can identify motion patterns commonly associated with theft, such as a device being suddenly snatched away from a user. If suspicious activity is detected, the smartphone screen automatically locks.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to enable the Theft Detection feature:

Step 1: Open Settings and tap Security and privacy
Step 2: Tap Lost device protection
Step 3: Select Theft protection
Step 4: Tap Theft Detection Lock
Step 5: Tap Turn on
Step 6: Tap Offline Device Lock
Step 7: Tap Turn on
Step 8: Tap Remote Lock and select Use Remote Lock to enable the feature

Samsung partners with South African creators to showcase Galaxy A57 and A37 cameras

19 June 2026 at 17:10

Samsung is showcasing the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 cameras in collaboration with South African creators. Samsung South Africa teamed up with one of Mzansi’s leading film production companies to drop a short film.

The Korean tech giant has been quietly building something in the Galaxy A series for years. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are the latest proof that AI-powered photography isn’t just for flagship phones anymore.

The short film is less product advertisement and more of a cultural document.

Director Lindo Langa helmed the project, and the result is genuinely cinematic. The film opens frozen, moments suspended just before the shutter clicks, then accelerates into the full kinetic energy of South African youth culture.

It’s the kind of brief you don’t expect from a mid-range phone launch. Content creators Dee Koala, Sine Madondo, Coachella Randy, and Jaedin Rhodes appear as themselves, doing exactly what they do in real life.

Designed to make everyday experiences simpler, smarter, and more intuitive, the new Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G reflect Samsung’s ongoing commitment to democratising artificial intelligence.

By expanding AI capabilities across more accessible devices, Samsung continues to empower users to do more with the technology in their hands, from capturing meaningful moments to enhancing everyday productivity.

Samsung is pushing AI camera capabilities down into devices that real people can afford. Not everyone is buying an S-series phone, and pretending otherwise is how you lose the next generation of customers.

Pope is a Samsung guy, rocks Galaxy phone and Watch

19 June 2026 at 16:28

Pope Leo XIV is officially a Samsung guy; he rocks a Galaxy phone and wears a Galaxy Watch. When South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited the Vatican earlier this week, he came away with more than diplomatic goodwill.

During their meeting, Pope Leo XIV held up a Black smartwatch and quizzed the President: “Do you know what this is?” It was a Samsung Galaxy Watch. The Pope then mentioned he also carries a Galaxy smartphone and drives a Hyundai.

For a man who could have his pick of any device, the choice is telling. While Silicon Valley’s flagship products dominate the pockets of most Western leaders and public figures, the leader of Catholics is running on Korean tech.

The Pope’s device preferences emerged as something of a lighthearted footnote to a substantive meeting that covered Korean Peninsula peace efforts, next year’s World Youth Day in Seoul, and a potential papal visit to North Korea.

Samsung’s Galaxy lineup has long held its ground as a premium alternative to Apple, and apparently, that reputation reaches all the way to the Holy See.

Whether by personal preference or happy coincidence, the first American Pope seems to have gone Korean when it counts.

Smartwatch growth returns, but Samsung took a different path in Q1 2026

19 June 2026 at 13:32

A new market report reveals that the global smartwatch market has returned to growth, with major brands gaining momentum. Samsung took a different path in Q1 2026, with smartwatch shipments facing a steep decline.

According to Counterpoint Research, the global smartwatch shipments grew 4% YoY in Q1 2026. Analysts believe Apple was the key driver given its newest Watch portfolio, along with growing demand for premium devices.

Samsung was the only smartwatch brand that flagged a massive downturn in its shipments in Q1 2026. The company’s market share declined from 7 percent in Q1 2025 to 5 percent in the first quarter of the year.

The shipment data reveals that Galaxy Watch shipments declined 28 percent YoY. It signals that the company’s wearable strategy requires revisions. A new set of watches is coming next month, and market share is expected to rise.

Apple led the worldwide smartwatch market with 23 percent market share. The US tech giant flagged a steep growth of 21 percent year-on-year. The momentum will continue as Q3 is set to welcome the next-gen wearables.

Huawei also grew 12 percent, with the company’s market share jumping from 16 percent in Q1 2025 to 17 percent in Q1 2026. The Chinese brand ranked second, thanks to aggressive marketing and push from key markets.

The growth of the Chinese market, led by Huawei’s ecosystem push and government subsidies, encouraged consumer upgrades and strengthened overall demand.

Xiaomi maintained its third spot and 10 percent market share in Q1 2026’s smartwatch market. The company’s overall smartwatch shipments grew 9 percent year over year.

imoo was the fourth largest smartwatch vendor in the first quarter, retaining 7 percent market share with 2 percent YoY growth.

Samsung lapped Bitcoin

Thanks to the AI momentum, Samsung has just surpassed Bitcoin in terms of market value. Samsung Electronics is sitting at a $1.522 trillion market cap while Bitcoin is at $1.276 trillion; it is a $246 billion gap, and it has widened fast.

The KOSPI cracked 9,000 intraday for the first time ever, dragging semiconductor stocks higher while Bitcoin quietly bled out. SEDaily reports that Samsung climbed to 12th among global assets, while Bitcoin slipped to 15th.

Samsung surpassed Bitcoin on November 1, then lost ground after shares cratered on November 8. Meanwhile, AI chip demand and high-bandwidth memory optimism have since pulled Samsung back ahead.

The gap isn’t shrinking

MarketWatch columnist Mark Hulbert ran the numbers on a fair-value model and surfaced something brutal: Bitcoin converging around $120,000 by 2140 implies an expected annual return of roughly 0.6% over 120 years.

Apart from this, SK Hynix is also running up 6.51% in a single session, its market value reached $1.248 trillion, placing it just $28 billion behind Bitcoin at 16th globally.

Samsung tackling power problem behind AI growth with Claros

19 June 2026 at 08:02

Samsung and a startup called Claros have quietly locked in one of the more technically precise collaborations to surface from the AI infrastructure arms race.

Claros will produce its IVR designs using Samsung Foundry’s US-based 14nm FinFET process. The company’s CEO, Daniel Kultran, has been direct about the friction, saying data center operators keep hitting the same wall because they want integrated voltage regulation but won’t move without volume certainty.

“Samsung’s FinFET process is the manufacturing foundation our IVR needs, and now our customers have a production timeline they can plan around,” said Claros Co-Founder and CEO Daniel Kultran.

Samsung’s Margaret Han, who runs US Foundry operations, signaled that the company sees applications beyond data centers, including industrial and automotive applications.

“Processor-level power delivery is one of the most critical challenges facing AI infrastructure, and Claros is tackling it with a truly forward-looking approach,” said Margaret Han, Executive Vice President and Head of US Foundry at Samsung Electronics.

AI workloads don’t just demand power; they waste it. The industry has been pushing 800 VDC architecture at the rack level, which helps, but stops short.

Without voltage regulation happening millimeters from the actual processor, a significant slice of that efficiency disappears as heat. Claros’s integrated voltage regulator closes that gap, cutting energy loss by up to 30 percent.

This is Claros’s first manufacturing agreement. The company closed a $30 million seed round recently and is now positioned to actually ship at scale.

Samsung preparing Galaxy devices for quantum security era with One UI 8.5

19 June 2026 at 07:05

Samsung is already preparing Galaxy devices for the quantum security era with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update. Quantum computers capable of cracking modern encryption aren’t here, but the people building them are working fast.

Most of the encryption protecting your banking apps, your Wi-Fi sessions, and your private messages relies on mathematical problems that traditional computers can’t solve in any reasonable timeframe.

Quantum machines could solve them in minutes. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is the field that is developing replacement algorithms designed to withstand that kind of computational power.

One UI 8.5 brings quantum-resistant encryption to Secure Wi-Fi, which protects connections on public and shared networks.

Among the security initiatives presented by Samsung are:

  • New advanced encryption mechanisms for personal data;
  • Intelligent threat monitoring among connected Galaxy devices;
  • Preventive features capable of identifying suspicious activities in real time;
  • Expansion of Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), an architecture developed to protect personalized AI features.

Samsung has also expanded Knox Matrix and strengthened Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, the architecture built specifically to guard personalized AI features as they process increasingly sensitive behavioral data.

Meanwhile, the Korean tech giant has not published deep technical documentation on exactly which PQC algorithms are being deployed or at what layer, but the direction is right.

Samsung launched One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 flagship phones. The official rollout began in May 2026, and dozens of Galaxy devices have received the update to date.

Beyond that, Samsung embarked on the One UI 9 journey, based on Android 17. The software is available in Beta for the Galaxy S26 series in Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Samsung misses smartphone sales growth seen by Apple and Huawei

19 June 2026 at 06:16

Researchers at Counterpoint Research published the worldwide smartphone sales report for Week 20 of 2026. Samsung maintained its smartphone sales in that period, while Apple and Huawei secured solid growth.

According to the report, the global smartphone sales declined by 8% YoY in Week 20 of 2026, marking the ninth consecutive week of negative growth. Overall, demand remained sluggish during Week 20, despite some promotional events in China and India.

Apple and Huawei were the only phone makers that flagged positive growth. Samsung, at the same time, managed to keep its sales momentum consistent in a declining smartphone market.

Brands with stable supply chains and high visibility into key components such as memory were able to maintain more consistent pricing and promotional strategies. Apple is in an advantageous position in this regard.

Apple grew 10 percent year over year, while Huawei grew a huge 23 percent. Samsung managed to prevent a sales slump, but ended up facing a sales decline of 1 percent year over year.

Chinese vendors, such as Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, declined 10%, 19%, and 17%, respectively. The phone makers are getting hurt by the rising component costs and the memory price hike.

With supply chain stability emerging as a key differentiator this year, brands with higher supply stability for core components, particularly AI memory, competing with data center demand, widened the gap with their competitors.

Wear OS 6 has a bug that stops apps from opening on Samsung smartwatches

19 June 2026 at 05:34

Samsung smartwatches reportedly failing to open apps on Wear OS 6. A bug appears to be preventing certain apps from opening on the device. Users are frustrated as a key functionality of their wearable has stopped.

Users of Samsung smartwatches have been posting about a frustrating issue where apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, and WhatsApp simply refuse to open.

You tap the icon, the splash screen flashes for a second, and then you’re dumped right back into the app drawer. Similar reports are posted as complaints across various social media platforms, including Reddit.

One Galaxy Watch 8 Classic owner brought it to Reddit, and the replies confirmed this isn’t an isolated incident. Meanwhile, someone in that Reddit thread (via AndroidAuthority) dug into the cause, and it’s a Wear OS 6 kernel problem.

A zombie process, meaning a process that’s technically finished but still sitting in the system’s memory, creates a deadlock when the app tries to close. When you try to relaunch the app, the OS spots that old process, can’t kill it, and aborts the whole startup.

The fix is the May 2026 security patch. A Galaxy Watch 7 owner installed it and reports the bug hasn’t resurfaced since. Although the May patch’s rollout has begun, it’s still not widely available on Galaxy Watch models globally.

A kernel-level bug is making apps unusable on Galaxy Watches; the only potential fix requires a security update that not everyone may have received yet.

If your Galaxy Watch has been eating app launches lately, check your software update settings immediately.

3 big changes coming to WhatsApp: Home screen widgets, group overhauls, and feature retirements

18 June 2026 at 17:04

WhatsApp is testing a series of UI changes and feature adjustments. Recent beta releases reveal that the messaging giant is focusing heavily on home screen accessibility, streamlined group management, and cleaning up underutilized features.

Here is a breakdown of the three major changes currently rolling out or under development.

Widget for voice messages

WhatsApp is expanding its Android home screen shortcuts to streamline daily interactions.

A new resizable 3×1 widget allows users to record voice notes with a single tap directly from their home screen, bypassing the need to open the app and locate specific chats.

Once recorded, the audio can be sent to individual contacts, multiple recipients at once, or shared as a status update.

Redesigned group chat info screen

WhatsApp is reorganizing the group chat info interface by introducing two dedicated hubs at the very top of the screen:

  • Preferences: Consolidates personal choices like Chat Themes, Media Visibility, and storage management tools.
  • Privacy: Houses security configurations, including Chat Lock settings and end-to-end encryption details.

Why Samsung’s chip business is still losing money despite record Q1 – Exynos & Foundry update

18 June 2026 at 14:31

Samsung’s System LSI division just delivered its best-ever first-quarter revenue. Sounds like great news, right? But there’s a catch – the company still expects to end the full year with losses in this part of its chip business.

President Park Yong-in recently talked about the challenges. He said Samsung needs bigger structural changes because demand is soft in several key areas. Even with strong memory (HBM) chip sales, thanks to AI demand, the non-memory side (foundry and System LSI) continues to struggle.

“We achieved the highest level of sales in the first quarter of this year” Park said at the briefing. Park said, “The System-on-Chip (SoC) business is difficult to convert into a surplus in the short term, but we will strive to improve the business body and improve profitability.” “We will create an environment where structural problems can be solved by management and members can focus on technology.”

The one chance? Development of the next flagship Exynos 2700 processor is moving along steadily. Samsung is expected to use it in the next Galaxy S-series phones.

Samsung is clearly treating its foundry business (making chips for other companies) and System LSI (mobile processors and more) as key parts for the entire company.

What’s the real issue? The mobile SoC market is super competitive, and AI demand has not helped every segment the same way. While memory chips are printing money, fixing the logic and foundry side will take serious time and effort.

For long-term success, Samsung is trying to balance its memory and non-memory chip businesses. Investors are watching closely to see if these changes start delivering real results soon.
