Insane stat has Arsenal on course to break Chelsea record that looked impossible to beat

1 November 2025 at 12:45

Arsenal are currently conceding just 0.25 goals per game in all competitions this season – a better average than the Chelsea team of 2004/05.

That legendary Jose Mourinho side strolled to victory in the Premier League title race that year, conceding a record low number of just 15 goals in 38 games.

The previous record had been Arsenal’s, when they conceded just 17 goals in the 1998/99 campaign, but it looks like the Gunners could reclaim the record if they carry on performing as well as they have this season.

Of course, it’s only early days yet, but see the video below for an explainer as Arsenal’s current goals conceded record is on course to be better than Chelsea’s in 2004/05…

How likely is it that Arsenal's defense breaks Chelsea's record of 15 goals conceded in a Premier League season? ?

— B/R Football (@brfootball) October 31, 2025

Chelsea’s average ended up being 0.55 per game in that memorable Mourinho campaign, but Arsenal would better that if they can keep shutting teams out like they have so far.

That’s a big if, though, as it would take something pretty special for them to maintain this level of consistency.

Arsenal looking to build on perfect October

Arsenal take on Burnley away from home in the Premier League today for their first game of November, and they’ll be looking to build on a memorable October.

Remarkably, Mikel Arteta’s side won all six of their six games last month without conceding a single goal – the first time any top flight English club has ever done that.

Arsenal will be favourites against Burnley, but there are no easy games in the Premier League, and they’ll surely give up a goal or two eventually.

Still, in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes they have a potentially legendary defensive partnership that could go on to be as great as that famous pairing of John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho for Chelsea.

Erling Haaland stat is a bigger worry than Arsenal’s reliance on set pieces

1 November 2025 at 12:06

Much has been made of Arsenal being overly reliant on goals from set pieces this season, but Manchester City are even more reliant on Erling Haaland.

The Norway international has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 15 goals in his first 12 games in all competitions.

In the Premier League, he has 11 in 9 games, and stats show that’s 65% of Man City’s total goals scored.

See below as Squawka claim Haaland’s goals account for almost two thirds of the goals scored by Pep Guardiola’s side in the league so far this season, which is impressive, but perhaps far from ideal if he ever has an occasional bad game, as we saw with City’s defeat away to Aston Villa last weekend…

Erling Haaland has scored 65% of Man City’s Premier League goals this season.

Pep Guardiola's system has made him more central than ever and the numbers show why. ?

— Squawka (@Squawka) October 31, 2025

By contrast, Arsenal have scored 56% of their goals from set pieces, according to WhoScored, so even if it’s clearly something they’re relying on a lot, it’s not quite the same as City’s reliance on Haaland.

Are Manchester City too much of a one-man team?

City weren’t at their best last season as they slipped to third in the Premier League table, and at the time it seemed like the long-term injury to Rodri was one of the major factors affecting their form.

Still, they now seem to be overly reliant on Haaland more than anyone, with other star names like Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku arguably just not delivering enough end-product consistently in this MCFC attack.

It’s hard to see where else the goals could come from in Guardiola’s squad, as he no longer has the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan to rely on like he did in the past.

Arsenal – too one dimensional?

At the same time, Arsenal could really do with an elite goal-scorer like Haaland in their side, with Viktor Gyokeres only scoring three Premier League goals so far.

The Gunners rely a lot on Gabriel Magalhaes heading in their corners and free-kicks, and it’s perhaps hard to see them sustaining that over an entire campaign.

It will be interesting to see Arsenal and City going for the title with these flaws in place, even if they’re both generally very strong teams.

It should make for an intriguing title race, but does it perhaps mean neither club will quite have enough to go all the way in the Champions League?

Arne Slot reveals talks with Liverpool hierarchy about his future

1 November 2025 at 11:31

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken out on his situation, making it clear he still feels he’s getting backing from the club’s owners and directors.

The Reds are currently on an awful run of form, falling to a surprise sequence of six defeats from their last seven games in all competitions.

Even before that run, Liverpool were conceding a lot of goals and summer signings like Florian Wirtz have performed poorly.

Slot, however, insists he still talks with the Liverpool hierarchy and they still seem to be giving him their backing as the club’s manager, just like they did last season.

Arne Slot still has Liverpool backing

Speaking at his press conference yesterday, as quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Slot did not sound worried about his job safety.

“They tell me same things as last year, yes,” he said. “I speak mainly to Richard Hughes and once in a while to the others. They also see similar things as what I see.”

Slot has surely earned himself a bit more time after the success of last season, even if things are proving a lot trickier for him this term.

The Dutch tactician did tremendous work to guide Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, and he surely has it in him to turn the team’s current slump around.

What next for Liverpool?

Liverpool take on Aston Villa in the Premier League this evening, and then they have a big game against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

These won’t be easy, but LFC could really do with picking up victories here to lift the mood at Anfield and get the team back on the right track.

Do you think Liverpool can still have a good season? Should Slot be safe in his job? Let us know your views in the comments!

Man United set sights on signing “top young player” from Premier League big six rivals

1 November 2025 at 11:03

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing an ambitious move to sign an elite young talent from one of their major Premier League rivals.

The Red Devils could do with strengthening in midfield at the moment, and it seems one name on their list is Andrey Santos from their big six rivals Chelsea.

That’s according to a report from Football Insider, though it’s not considered likely that Chelsea will sell a prospect like Santos to someone like Man Utd.

The Brazilian is highly regarded after an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg, and one imagines Chelsea will be keen to make more use of him soon.

Still, it’s also the case that he faces a lot of competition at Stamford Bridge, with the 21-year-old perhaps unlikely to get past Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo any time soon.

Andrey Santos to leave Chelsea for Manchester United?

Given Santos’ situation, it perhaps makes sense for United to keep him in mind as a potential option in the middle of the park.

Even if the Blues won’t want to sell to a rival, it’s possible that they’ll have to consider Santos’ situation as he surely won’t be content to sit on the bench for too much longer.

Santos has shown he’s good enough to be playing regularly at the highest level, and he could surely have a tremendous impact at Old Trafford.

Man United need a midfielder like Andrey Santos

United could do with bringing in a long-term replacement for the ageing Casemiro in the near future, while Manuel Ugarte has not really been good enough, so could do with replacing.

There would be an obvious key role for Santos in Ruben Amorim’s side, and the same can’t be said of his situation at Chelsea.

Still, Pete O’Rourke previously told Football Insider: “I would be very surprised if Chelsea would even consider letting Andrey Santos go, especially to a Premier League rival in Man United.

“He’s a top young player, he’s very highly regarded within the corridors of power at Stamford Bridge.”

“In my head…” – Liverpool target opens up on his current thinking amid transfer speculation

1 November 2025 at 10:46

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has spoken out on the transfer speculation in the news at the moment after his superb form in the Premier League.

The Ghana international has started the season with six goals and three assists in nine Premier League games, making him one of the most in-form attacking players in the country.

Only Erling Haaland has more goals than Semenyo, so it’s not surprising to see the 25-year-old linked with Liverpool by the likes of iNews and Football Insider.

There has also been a big claim made by Indy Kaila in the last couple of days, with the journalist stating that Liverpool will submit a bid for Semenyo

Exclusive @LFC news ?

Still, it seems Semenyo himself isn’t letting the frequent rumours affect him too much.

Antoine Semenyo responds to transfer speculation

Speaking to Sky Sports, Semenyo insisted he was happy to stay at Bournemouth this summer even when the club sold some of their other key players.

Meanwhile, it seems Semenyo is also not letting the rumours get to him, as he has made it clear he tries his best to just stay in the present moment.

“I don’t think about it too much. I try to stay present as much as I can. You see the news all the time, I see it as well, I’m not oblivious, but I try to keep focused,” he said.

“I’m enjoying my football here. If I’m not scoring goals, all of that goes away. I try to stay present, do the best I can for the team, score goals and whatever happens in the future happens.

“When they [his former team-mates] all left [in the summer], there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club.

Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth

“But I knew in my head that the manager’s got something up his sleeve this year. How we finished off the season last year was so good and we could continue, especially with the players we’ve bought in as well.

“I wasn’t too sure at the start but we’ve kicked on like a house on fire. I’m glad I committed to staying here because I’m enjoying every moment.”

Should Liverpool sign Antoine Semenyo to replace Mohamed Salah?

There’s no doubt Liverpool have hit a real rough patch recently, with Arne Slot’s side on a worrying run of six defeats from their last seven games.

One big worry is that Mohamed Salah looks nowhere near as good as he did last season, so there could be room for Semenyo to come in and replace him.

Semenyo looks like he has the qualities to make it at an elite club, so if LFC don’t make a move for him soon, then one of their rivals surely will.

PL club monitoring forgotten Chelsea star following major transfer U-turn

1 November 2025 at 10:26

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is reportedly being monitored by Everton as a potential transfer target as he’s now unlikely to join Bayern Munich permanently.

The Senegal international left Chelsea for a loan move to Bayern in the summer, and he’s not had the best start to life at the Allianz Arena.

With just two goals in his first ten games with Bayern, and the presence of Harry Kane as Vincent Kompany’s first-choice striker, it seems highly unlikely that Jackson has much of a future at the club.

According to Football Insider, this has led Everton to take a look at Jackson, with the 24-year-old supposedly viewed as the type of centre-forward who could be well suited to David Moyes’ tactics.

Nicolas Jackson transfer saga takes a fresh twist

Jackson didn’t really do enough at Chelsea to keep his place there, so few fans will have been surprised when he ended up leaving this summer.

It looked like Bayern were ready to give the player another chance to make it at a big club, with TBR Football recently reporting that this loan looked almost certain to be made permanent, but they’ve seemingly changed their minds about that quite quickly.

German outlet Bild also reported that an agreement was already in place for Jackson to sign a five-year deal with Bayern upon joining them permanently.

It now makes sense that other clubs are keeping an eye on Jackson’s situation, and Everton could be the right level for him.

Nicolas Jackson form Games Goals

Chelsea 2024/25 37 13
Bayern (loan) 2025/26 10 2

Nicolas Jackson not the only striker on Everton’s list

Still, the report also mentions other strikers being considered by Everton, such as former Brentford man Ivan Toney.

Another name to watch could be Tottenham’s Richarlison, with the Toffees open to bringing the Brazilian forward back to the club, according to Football Insider.

It will be interesting to see who ends up getting the nod, but Jackson looks like an option well worth considering due to his likely availability next summer.

Sources: Money there for Arteta as three Arsenal transfer targets emerge

31 October 2025 at 18:41

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to have money to spend this January if there are specific players he’s keen to bring in straight away.

However, as first reported here for the Daily Briefing, there is not necessarily going to be any rush to spend more money in the upcoming winter transfer window, with the club thinking more long-term.

Arsenal decided not to enter the market last January despite having a major injury crisis, and then ended up making plenty of changes during the summer.

The Gunners remain in a good place financially, so there could be a decent budget there for Arteta to work with, though it’s too early to know for sure if the club will be actively pursuing anyone just yet.

Arsenal have three long-term transfer targets

I was told about three long-term targets to watch out for, with Arsenal eyeing youngsters such as Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, though the latter of those probably isn’t too realistic.

The north London giants might also be in the mix for Barcelona’s Marc Casado, though it’s again not clear how realistic a deal is as Chelsea are considered further ahead in the race for his signature.

Aside from that, Arsenal’s focus in the near future will be on new contracts for star trio Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice.

Arsenal fans will surely be happy with the state of the squad Arteta has at his disposal right now, so it makes sense that there’s no rush to make further changes after a successful summer.

Do you think there’s anything else Arsenal need this January or should they wait until the summer to do the bulk of their business again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

“Complete player” – Man United urged to sign Premier League star who fits their “DNA”

31 October 2025 at 17:54

Former Manchester United winger Nani has called on his old club to seal a transfer move for Tottenham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international is currently on loan at Spurs from Bayern Munich, having previously impressed in the Premier League with Fulham.

Nani also knows Palhinha from their time together at Sporting Lisbon, and it’s clear that the ex-Red Devil is a big fan.

Speaking to Covers.com, as quoted by the Metro, Nani named Palhinha as an ideal target for Man Utd, as he looks like a complete player who fits their DNA.

Manchester United urged to pursue Joao Palhinha transfer

It remains to be seen if Palhinha will actually be a realistic target for United any time soon, but he’s been named as a dream signing by Nani.

MUFC also do look in need of new additions in that area of their squad, with Palhinha surely to be a significant upgrade on the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte.

“Joao Palhinha is a great player. I played with him at Sporting, where he was growing and learning a lot. After a few years, he became one of the best players in his position,” Nani said.

“He’s very strong and talented at winning and recovering the ball, and tackling. He’s also improved his forward play, scoring goals, connecting with the team, and moving forward with the ball. He’s become a complete player in his position.

“I think he’s a great player and can do really well for Tottenham. He had an opportunity with Bayern and we’re not sure what will happen next season, but he’s a player who can play for any team in the world. He just needs to be consistent and fit, as injuries sometimes cause problems. I trust he will have a fantastic career.”

He added: “He is a player with energy, with power to recover balls and to fight, that is something that fits into Man United’s DNA.”

United have been linked with a host of other midfielders, so it remains to be seen if they’ll make Palhinha a priority at any point, but Nani makes some good points about his suitability for the team.

Crystal Palace eye Premier League star to replace Liverpool target

31 October 2025 at 16:23

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a potential transfer move for Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa as a replacement for Marc Guehi.

Liverpool remain keen on signing Guehi after coming close to agreeing a deal for him in the summer, and even if he doesn’t move to Anfield, he is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Guehi is not looking likely to sign a new contract with Palace, so they’ll have to look for a new defender, and Konsa seems like a smart target for the Eagles to consider.

The England international has shone at Villa Park, and one imagines he could more than do a capable job of replacing Guehi in Oliver Glasner’s squad.

Ezri Konsa transfer to Crystal Palace?

Konsa has also attracted interest from Liverpool themselves, but one imagines they’ll prioritise Guehi again unless they’re beaten to his signature.

Villa surely won’t want to let Konsa go, but they have recently had to make sales due to financial issues.

The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability laws have hit Villa particularly hard, which has meant the club cashing in on Douglas Luiz last summer and then Jhon Duran in January, followed up by Jacob Ramsey ahead of this season.

That could mean Palace have a serious chance of snapping up Konsa if the money is right.

This will be an interesting saga to follow, with Konsa surely good enough to earn a big move, and with Selhurst Park looking like a very tempting destination right now.

Glasner won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Palace in recent months, as well as taking them on a club-record unbeaten run which only recently came to an end.

Alan Shearer disagrees with fellow pundit’s Alexander Isak claim

31 October 2025 at 15:58

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has disagreed with fellow pundit Micah Richards after his claim about Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool this summer.

Isak ended up leaving Newcastle for Liverpool in a British transfer record £125m fee, and this followed a lengthy saga as the Sweden international went on strike after being unsettled by the Reds’ interest.

Newcastle, in fairness, seemed to do similar when they pursued Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who was also on the radar of a number of other top clubs.

Wolves had to fight off interest in Strand Larsen in the end, and Shearer has suggested his form has dipped since then due to the distraction of the transfer interest.

Alan Shearer on Alexander Isak and Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer sagas

Speaking on the The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer said: “I don’t suspect this Strand Larsen thing helped either – when it was touch and go and Newcastle were coming in.”

To which Richards responded: “Newcastle…You’re talking about Liverpool unsettling Isak, you unsettled Strand Larsen.”

“I never mentioned that at all, you brought that up,” Shearer then hit back.

Richards then added: “It’s alright when it works in your favour, isn’t it?”

Newcastle’s mixed success after Alexander Isak exit

Newcastle haven’t been that convincing so far this season with plenty of patchy form and inconsistent results.

However, it was always going to be difficult for Eddie Howe to rebuild after losing an important player like Isak.

NUFC have, however, strengthened well up front with Nick Woltemade, who has been one of the signings of the summer, even if the team as a whole aren’t entirely clicking yet.

Arne Slot names one way Liverpool got “lucky” last season

31 October 2025 at 14:52

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted his side simply aren’t enjoying as much luck with injuries as they did last season.

Slot guided the Reds to an impressive Premier League title victory in his first season in charge, but he’s suffered a much tougher start to his second campaign at Anfield.

It perhaps now looks like Liverpool got a bit lucky last season as both Arsenal and Manchester City suffered a dip in their performances, partly due to having injuries to key players themselves.

Liverpool, by contrast, managed to keep their key names fit for pretty much the entire campaign, though they’re now having worse luck in that department.

Arne Slot on Liverpool’s bad luck with injuries

Slot has attempted to explain some of Liverpool’s poor results and performances this season, though he insists he’s not trying to make excuses for his team.

See below as the Dutch tactician insists it’s simply trickier having more players out injured, limiting his options whilst also putting more pressure on others to play more often, even with games every few days…

? Arne Slot has admitted to having one major slice of luck with Liverpool in his first season…? pic.twitter.com/M4ssnE0AXQ

— CaughtOffside (@caughtoffside) October 31, 2025

“If you could talk about an issue … not all of them have had a proper pre-season, or have been injured during the season,” Slot said.

“So when three or four are injured you go back to 16 players. I’m a firm believer in the fact that 20-21 players are enough, but you have to keep them fit as we did last season.”

He added: “It has been more difficult than last season to keep them all available. Maybe last season we were more lucky or now we’re more unlucky.

“Again, no excuses for our results before people are going to say this again, but we had to play a lot of away games with only two days of rest in between.”

Can Liverpool bounce back?

Liverpool will no doubt hope to have a better chance of getting points on the board once everyone’s back available again, but do their problems lie deeper than that?

The Merseyside giants were conceding a lot of goals even before Alisson Becker’s injury, while summer signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have simply not looked good enough since joining.

Florian Wirtz also had a full pre-season and no fitness concerns, but has badly struggled to live up to his price tag so far.

“Top player” has heart set on Liverpool despite Man Utd & Spurs transfer interest

31 October 2025 at 13:44

Liverpool may reportedly still be leading the race for the transfer of Crystal Palace central defender Marc Guehi as he nears the end of his contract.

The England international has shone during his time at Selhurst Park, but is coming towards being a free agent at the end of this season.

This could make it an open race for Guehi’s signature, with Graeme Bailey previously telling TBR Football that the likes of Manchester United could rival Liverpool for the deal, as it’s now considered a completely new transfer situation after the Reds missed out on him in the summer.

Meanwhile, we’ve also previously been informed that Tottenham may now be leading the race for Guehi.

Still, see below as Indy Kaila reports that Guehi still has his heart set on joining Liverpool…

Marc Guehi transfer: What next for “top player”?

Guehi looks ideal for Liverpool right now, as they have Ibrahima Konate coming towards the end of his contract, while Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger.

The 25-year-old could also be ideal for Man Utd, though, as they play three at the back and might do well to find alternatives to the likes of Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, while Lisandro Martinez has proven really injury prone during his time at Old Trafford.

Former United star Louis Saha was recently quoted by the Manchester Evening News as praising Guehi and urging his old club to try signing him ahead of Liverpool.

“Marc Guehi is definitely a top player and a leader. I love him as a player,” Saha said.

“It’s simple: if Man Utd can hijack the deal to Liverpool, even by paying £20million more than his market price, do it.

“I think he’s a terrific player. I really like his consistency and the security he provides.

“I also appreciate his communication, he’s a very reliable player. He will undoubtedly be part of a huge team and play for significant stakes in the future.”

Liverpool “believe” Premier League star wants to join them as they eye two “elite” signings

31 October 2025 at 13:02

Liverpool reportedly believe that Crystal Palace central midfielder Adam Wharton wants to join them despite links with other top clubs.

The England international has established himself as one of the biggest talents in the country during his time at Palace, and it seems inevitable that they’re going to struggle to keep hold of him for much longer.

Palace sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal this summer, and Michael Olise to Bayern Munich the year before, so they have a recent history of cashing in on their stars if the deal is right for them.

See below as Indy Kaila is now reporting that Liverpool believe they’re in a strong position to sign Wharton as he’s seemingly keen on the potential move to Anfield…

The journalist claims LFC want to sign two elite midfielders, so Wharton is surely one of those, while Alexis Mac Allister could also leave as Real Madrid are apparently preparing a January bid.

Adam Wharton attracting transfer interest from long list of clubs

Wharton has also been linked with Manchester United by TEAMtalk, while we have recently had information about Real Madrid also looking at the 21-year-old as one of a number of midfield targets.

Wharton will clearly have a number of big names to choose from, so it remains to be seen if Liverpool will end up being his preferred destination as they supposedly believe at the moment.

The Reds are of course likely to be seen as a tempting option, but it will also be interesting to see how this season continues under Arne Slot after an awful recent run of form.

One imagines Palace would also prefer to sell to a club abroad if possible, as they won’t be too keen on strengthening a Premier League rival if they can avoid it.

Report: Real Madrid to bid for Liverpool star in January

31 October 2025 at 12:44

Real Madrid will reportedly make a bid for the transfer of Liverpool central midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this January.

The Argentina international has shone during his time at Anfield, but it seems there’s some uncertainty surrounding his future as we head towards the next transfer window.

According to journalist Indy Kaila, there’s plenty of Liverpool transfer news to keep an eye on in the next two windows, including Mac Allister as a major outgoing.

The Reds had a busy summer bringing in big names like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, while Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott left the club.

Now it seems Liverpool are eyeing more signings, while Mac Allister could leave for Madrid…

It remains to be seen, of course, if Real will be able to come in with a bid that would persuade LFC to let an important player like Mac Allister go in the middle of the season.

Should Liverpool keep or sell Alexis Mac Allister?

It’s easy to see why Los Blancos could be keen on Mac Allister, with the 26-year-old long looking like one of the most impressive performers in the Premier League in his position.

Alexis Mac Allister in Liverpool training

Mac Allister previously impressed at Brighton and played a key role in Liverpool’s title victory last season, so he could be a good fit to give Xabi Alonso a perfect long-term successor to the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the middle of the park.

Mac Allister has, admittedly, looked slightly less convincing so far this season, and it might be that Liverpool will be tempted to make changes in midfield after the team’s generally poor start to the campaign.

Given Indy Kaila is linking Liverpool with expensive targets like Antoine Semenyo, it might mean more player sales are required to stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Sources: Man United discuss new midfielder transfer target after scouting him “extensively”

Manchester United have had some internal discussions over signing Lille midfield wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi, as first reported in an exclusive for the Daily Briefing.

The Red Devils have scouted Bouaddi “extensively”, according to sources, with Christopher Vivell said to be a big fan of the highly-rated 18-year-old.

Bouaddi has been a revelation in the Lille first-team and it seems inevitable that he’ll soon earn himself a big move.

As well as Man Utd, there is interest from a long list of other major European clubs, including Arsenal and others from outside the Premier League.

Still, it seems United are currently being credited with the strongest interest, even if there have not yet been any talks or offers over the player.

Ayyoub Bouaddi to seal Manchester United transfer?

United have been a bit smarter with some of their recent recruitment, looking to save money by bringing in young talents rather than just splashing the cash on superstar signings like they’ve done for so much of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Leny Yoro was one elite talent snapped up by United, and he also came from Lille, where Bouaddi is the latest top talent to shine in their squad.

It will be interesting to see if MUFC can use that relationship with Lille to get another top youngster before other big clubs around Europe.

Man United need a new midfielder

Bouaddi is still young and learning the game, but he arguably already looks like he’d improve Ruben Amorim’s midfield.

Perhaps the club will turn to Premier League-proven players like Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, but Bouaddi looks like another option well worth considering.

The France Under-21 international has a bit of everything to his game, so he could be a perfect upgrade on the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte in that area of the pitch.

“Bid will be submitted” – Liverpool to launch exciting transfer move, says journalist

31 October 2025 at 11:37

Liverpool will reportedly submit a bid for the transfer of Bournemouth’s in-form attacking star Antoine Semenyo.

The Reds had a busy summer bringing in big names like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, and it seems they’re not done yet.

According to journalist Indy Kaila, Liverpool are now expected to keep on targeting big names in the next two windows.

Semenyo is one of those, as per Kaila’s post on X below, and it’s certainly not surprising to see the exciting Ghana international attracting interest from bigger clubs like Liverpool after his superb recent form in the Premier League…

It’s not entirely clear if the Semenyo bid will come in January or next summer, but it seems the 25-year-old is a key part of Liverpool’s plans for the next two windows.

Antoine Semenyo transfer looks hugely important for Liverpool after Mohamed Salah’s dip in form

Just a few months ago it would perhaps have been tricky to see Semenyo fitting in at Liverpool due to so much competition for places in Arne Slot’s front three.

Still, it’s been a poor start to the season for LFC, and Mohamed Salah’s dramatic dip in form is a particular concern.

The Egypt international was unplayable for so much of last season, but he’s now struggling for confidence and has only three goals and two assists in the league so far, in contrast to six goals and three assists for Semenyo…

Player Games Goals Assists
Mohamed Salah 9 3 2
Antoine Semenyo 9 6 3

Semenyo now looks like he could be an upgrade on Salah, and not just a long-term replacement for the ageing forward.

It’s easy to imagine Semenyo coming in and making a big impact straight away to turn Liverpool into more of an attacking threat again.

Something certainly needs to change as soon as possible after an awful run of six defeats from the club’s last seven games in all competitions.

Report: Euro giants could try again to sign Man United star who rejected them before

31 October 2025 at 10:36

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly back on AC Milan’s radar as a potential transfer target ahead of January.

The Netherlands international is currently struggling for playing time with Man Utd, so it makes sense that his future is in some doubt at the moment.

There’s been plenty of speculation about Zirkzee and a possible move away from Old Trafford this winter in order for him to get more first-team football and give him a chance of making the Dutch national team squad for next summer’s World Cup.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the latest name in the mix is AC Milan, though they’ve previously been turned down by the former Bologna man.

What next for Joshua Zirkzee after difficult Manchester United spell?

Zirkzee impressed during his time in Serie A, which prompted United to bring him to the Premier League, but it just hasn’t worked out for him in English football.

It could now make sense for MUFC and Zirkzee to go their separate ways, but Gazzetta’s report suggests Milan won’t necessarily make the first move.

The Rossoneri wanted the 24-year-old before, but they might not make him a top target after he previously rejected them.

It seems it could depend on his availability, but one imagines other clubs will also be involved in the race for his signature.

Joshua Zirkzee’s long list of transfer suitors

Zirkzee also has interest from West Ham United, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, while Roma are another team to be linked by Gazzetta dello Sport in the last few days.

Everton have also been mentioned by Football Insider, and it could also be worth keeping an eye on the likes of Aston Villa and Brighton, as previously reported here for an exclusive in the Daily Briefing.

Where do you see Zirkzee going next? Or should United keep him for squad depth? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Talks held: Chelsea receive response after registering interest in signing “class act”

31 October 2025 at 10:16

Chelsea reportedly had recent contacts over a potential transfer move for Barcelona defender Eric Garcia, but they’ve now been told that he’s off the market.

The Blues were alongside Tottenham in asking about Garcia’s availability, but it now seems that the 24-year-old is close to signing a new contract with Barcelona.

According to TBR Football, Garcia had been of interest to both Chelsea and Spurs, but it now seems there’s no chance of a deal as he’s agreed terms with Barca on a new contract.

This is a bit of a blow for Chelsea, who could have done with strengthening at the back after some unconvincing performances in that department so far this season.

Chelsea dealt Eric Garcia transfer blow

Despite some improvement under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea have suffered some recent setbacks, such as losing 2-1 at home to Sunderland in the Premier League, while they only scraped past Wolves with a 4-3 win in the Carabao Cup this week.

Garcia looks like he could surely have been an upgrade on the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo, but CFC will now have to look for alternatives.

Tottenham could also likely have benefited from more depth at the back, though they actually already have some pretty solid options in the form of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Eric Garcia transfer situation explained

Speaking to TBR Football, journalist Graeme Bailey explained the current situation, saying: “At one point in the summer with Garcia’s contract expiring, there was real interest with Chelsea and Spurs both keen.

“He is a class act and has Premier League experience; he ticks a lot of boxes. However, Garcia has since become a big player under Hansi Flick, and he is not going anywhere. I am told in recent weeks, his people have confirmed that a new deal is imminent.”

PL club have “called” Man United about two potential January signings, says Fabrizio Romano

30 October 2025 at 18:23

West Ham United have reportedly called Manchester United to ask about both Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee as possible options to sign on loan in the January transfer window.

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim hasn’t found much room for either player so far this season, with these two young talents now likely to be keen on moving elsewhere in order to play regularly.

The Red Devils are on a better run of form at the moment, having won their last three games in a row, but there are still some issues for Amorim to resolve.

It might be that we’ll see further changes to the squad this January as Amorim might want to bring in one or two new faces, while he also has a few first-teamers that he’ll struggle to keep happy as they’re not playing much.

Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update on Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee

Speaking on his YouTube channel, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano says that West Ham have asked to be kept informed on the situations of Mainoo and Zirkzee.

However, it seems this isn’t really evolving into anything more concrete for the Hammers at the moment, according to Romano.

“West Ham have called to understand the situation of both Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo, on loan of course, for six months, to give them the opportunity to play, to give them the chance maybe to go to the World Cup.

“But at the moment from United they are not opening to any negotiation, so that’s the status of the story – nothing else is evolving about this.”

Can West Ham land double United raid?

West Ham are having a really poor season, so if they could strengthen with these two smart loan signings it could be vitally important to help them improve in the second half of the campaign.

Zirkzee hasn’t been at his best for United, but might be better suited to a lower-mid-table team like West Ham, while Mainoo is a quality talent who’s arguably unlucky not to be playing more at Old Trafford.

These two could surely prove important additions for Nuno Espirito Santos’ side in their fight to avoid relegation.

Worry for Chelsea as key figure approached by Champions League giants

30 October 2025 at 16:53

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been targeted by Juventus as they eye him to potentially take over in time for next season, according to Simon Phillips.

The Italian tactician has done some fine work during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning the Europa Conference League last season and then the Club World Cup during the summer.

On top of that, Maresca got Chelsea back into the top four in the Premier League last season, improving on previous managers such as Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter.

Maresca could surely be a fine appointment for Juve, and it seems there is genuine and concrete interest in him.

Enzo Maresca is Juventus’ top manager target for next season

According to Phillips, there has been contact with Maresca’s representatives, though it’s not clear yet if there has been any direct contact with Chelsea yet.

Juventus have just appointed Luciano Spalletti as manager until the end of the season, with the option to extend that for another year if he gets the club into the Champions League.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out, but one imagines Maresca could still be a target for Juventus.

The Turin giants will likely have been impressed by Maresca’s work at Chelsea, and the west Londoners would do well to keep hold of him.

Should Chelsea keep Enzo Maresca?

Some Chelsea fans might feel there is still room for improvement at the club, even if Maresca has done better than some of his recent predecessors.

There are still issues with this CFC team, who have not been particularly consistent, so perhaps someone with more experience of winning major silverware could be ideal to help this youthful group of players to fulfil their potential.

Is Maresca the man for Chelsea or is this an opportunity to bring in a better manager? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

‘Get rid of him’ Sherwood tells West Ham to axe their expensive star

30 October 2025 at 16:05

Former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has criticised West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta for his poor form and selfish performances.

The Brazil international has at various points been a key player for the Hammers, even leading to speculation that top clubs like Manchester City were interested in him.

There were also links with Aston Villa in the summer, though a deal never materialised and he seemed to commit his future to West Ham.

Paqueta can undoubtedly be a fine player on his day, but he’s a tad inconsistent and he’s not really contributed enough so far this season.

Sherwood has singled Paqueta out for criticism and insisted he’s someone West Ham should be looking to sell after their poor start to the season.

Tim Sherwood tells West Ham to sell Lucas Paqueta

It remains to be seen if WHUFC will risk getting rid of Paqueta, but there could be some logic to it as they arguably need a different kind of character in their squad to help them out of their current predicament.

“Paqueta is a luxury player. Paqueta plays for Paqueta. I think he has wonderful talent and I’m not taking away from that. You need to keep him away from goal and in responsible areas of the field,” Sherwood told Sky Sports.

“He’s a liability. You saw it with [Joe] Rodon last weekend at Leeds United. They asked him to mark him for some unknown reason from a corner. Keep him towards the opposition goal, get him in the final third.

“He’s got magic feet but, for me, when you need all hands on deck like West Ham do – if they were to be offered some money to spend in other positions, I would get rid of him.”

Would you keep or sell Paqueta this January? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

I woke up with two missed calls – by the end of the day I’d signed for Arsenal before even telling my wife

30 October 2025 at 15:44

Former Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal has revealed what a crazy day it was when he joined the Gunners back in January 2013.

The Spaniard proved to be a smart signing by Arsene Wenger, arriving on the cheap and without being the biggest name, before becoming something of a cult hero for the club.

Monreal has now spoken out on a slightly bizarre story about the day he joined Arsenal, which included some missed calls from Santi Cazorla, and a rushed move that meant he’d actually joined his new club before even having the chance to tell his wife.

Monreal told Ladbrokes at the launch of Ladisfaction: “I signed for Arsenal on the last day of the January transfer window, and to be honest the whole move was crazy for me, because I woke up on that day with no idea that I’d be signing for the club.”

Nacho Monreal’s frantic Deadline Day transfer to Arsenal

Monreal added: “I remember waking up on that day, checking my phone and seeing I had two missed calls from Santi Cazorla. I was a bit surprised because that wasn’t really a normal thing for me to wake up to, but I got to the training ground and called him back to see what was up, and why he was calling me so early in the morning…

“‘Nacho, Nacho, be quick… do you want to sign for Arsenal? Arsene Wenger asked me if you want to join the club.’

“Of course I wanted to, but it was all out of nowhere, so I didn’t know if he was being serious.

“‘Yeah, yeah, Nacho, it’s 100% serious.’

“And from that moment, it was crazy… I finished the training session with Malaga, and after training, Manuel Pellegrini – the head coach at the time – called me in and told me the club had received an offer from Arsenal. He asked me if I wanted to go, and I said yes.

“Three hours later, I was in London, signing the contract. I didn’t even have time to talk to my wife about it!

“She was working at the time, and I tried calling her nine or ten times, but she never picked up because she was working. So when she did call me back, I was like ‘I’m in London… I just signed for Arsenal!’

“I didn’t even ask her if she wanted to come with me, which is crazy when I think about it now. But at the same time, who doesn’t want to go to London and play for the Arsenal? I knew the answer, so I had to make the call for us, without her knowing. That’s how quickly it all happened, but it had to be that way because it was the last day of the window.

“So it was only ever Arsenal for me. And then, as my career went on, I always told my agents that as long as Arsenal wanted me, I was never going to leave the club. I loved it, because it really felt like a family for me.”

Nacho Monreal had a fine career at Arsenal

Monreal didn’t initially look like he’d definitely be first choice at Arsenal as he was up against Kieran Gibbs when he joined, but he ended up becoming a key player for Wenger’s side.

The former Spain international finished his time in north London with 251 appearances and ten goals, helping the club to three FA Cup final victories and three Community Shield titles.

It’s intriguing to hear what some transfer sagas can really be like behind the scenes, as Monreal’s move is one of those that sounds so much more hectic than you’d expect for clubs and players at such a high level.

Leeds United star set to secure January exit

30 October 2025 at 15:26

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is reportedly attracting growing interest ahead of a potential exit in the January transfer window.

The French shot-stopper is no longer first choice for Daniel Farke’s side, and this means he is likely to move on in the near future after almost making an exit during the summer.

According to latest reports, Club Brugge are up against Anderlecht for the signing of Meslier, with the 25-year-old also coming towards the end of his contract.

This could mean Meslier ends up leaving on a free transfer next summer, but Leeds will surely look to take the opportunity to cash in on him this January.

Some initial contacts have already taken place over Meslier’s departure, with Club Brugge and Anderlecht seemingly his most likely next destinations.

Leeds have not yet used Meslier in the Premier League this season, so they surely won’t stand in his way if clubs come in and offer him a chance of playing more regular first-team football.

Meslier might not have become the player he looked like he could become when he was a youngster, but he’s surely still good enough to represent some major sides around Europe.

Leeds fans won’t be too disappointed to see him move on now, but one imagines there’ll be a few who keep an eye on how his career progresses if he does get his move to Belgium.

Furious Enzo Maresca admits he’s embarrassed after “stupid” action by Chelsea player

30 October 2025 at 14:53

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has hit out at his players and Liam Delap in particular after last night’s nervy 4-3 win over Wolves.

The Blues just about scraped past Wolves in the Carabao Cup, booking a place in the quarter-finals, but Maresca was not at all happy with how the second half panned out.

Chelsea were in control at half time, with Maresca praising the first half display and criticising the second period as they allowed Wolves back into the game.

The Italian tactician was particularly unhappy with the “stupid” red card from Liam Delap, and went on to say he’s embarrassed by the club’s record with red cards this season…

Maresca said: “Very happy first half, very upset second half. This is my personal view of the game.

“(I) think first half we were very very good, it’s always complicated to go away and score three goals.

“We were playing nice, forward, creating chances, we didn’t concede nothing. And second half we were not doing the right things.”

He added: “For sure today also we had a very stupid red card that is completely, completely unnecessary.”

Chelsea have struggled with discipline this season, with the Blues now on a run of six red cards in nine games.

Maresca clearly isn’t happy about it as he slammed it as embarrassing, particularly the Delap red card for two yellows in quick succession, when he’d also told the player several times to keep calm.

The Chelsea manager even went as far as slamming Delap for thinking too much about himself when he’s on the pitch…

It will be interesting to see how Chelsea’s players respond to this outburst from Maresca.

Delap in particular was really singled out with some strong criticism, and it remains to be seen if this is really the best way to deal with the problem.

Eddie Howe reveals this player was “desperate to join” Newcastle United this summer

30 October 2025 at 14:01

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has praised backup goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after his performance in last night’s Carabao Cup win over Tottenham.

The England international hasn’t had that much playing time since joining Newcastle on loan from Southampton this summer, but he did well when brought into the side yesterday evening.

Ramsdale looks like a decent option to have as a squad player, and Howe emphasised that the former Arsenal goalkeeper was really keen to move to St James’ Park this summer.

Ramsdale will surely have known that he’d be up against Nick Pope for a place in the Newcastle starting line up, but it seems that didn’t stop him from wanting the move to go through.

Aaron Ramsdale transfer claim made by Eddie Howe

Speaking after the game, Howe was quoted by Newcastle World as saying: “Yeah, he was very good tonight, Aaron. I was really, really pleased with the big save he made in the second half. I thought that was an outstanding reflex save and showed his agility and his power. He distributed the ball really well, I think that’s one of his big strengths.

“We’ve known Aaron for a long time and I think the big thing for him coming to this club was that he wanted to come. He was desperate to join us, and he’s acted that way ever since as well.

“There’s been no hint of frustration or negativity in the fact that he’s not played as much as he wants to. He wants to play more. He’s supported Nick really well but he’s been really positive. His energy’s been really good around the group.

“I think because of all that attention he’s focused on his training and his work with the goalkeeper coaches, which has been excellent, he then produces a performance like he did tonight. So, a really, really big moment for him and I’m delighted for him.”

Ramsdale certainly sounds like a good presence to have at Newcastle, so fans will be delighted to hear Howe is so happy with how he’s been getting on.

NUFC won the Carabao Cup last season and their win last night puts them into this season’s quarter-finals, where they will take on Fulham.

Sources: Club “confident” of completing transfer deal with Man United “soon”

30 October 2025 at 13:07

Napoli are understood to be confident of signing Rasmus Hojlund in a permanent transfer from Manchester United, as first reported here for the Daily Briefing.

The Red Devils loaned Hojlund to Napoli in the summer, but the deal included the option to trigger a purchase clause to make the move permanent.

The Denmark international struggled at Old Trafford but has started well since returning to Serie A, where he’d previously also impressed during a spell with Atalanta.

As my source told me: “Napoli are confident. They’re in a strong position with the buy clause and they’re ready to activate it. Talks have been taking place and it should be finalised soon, ready to formally go through at the end of the season.”

Details of Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer to Napoli

Hojlund’s transfer is expected to include an offer from Napoli to join on a contract until 2030.

This looks like a great opportunity for the 22-year-old to rebuild his career after a difficult spell at United.

Hojlund never quite looked like the best version of himself in English football, but it’s clear that he has it in him to shine at the highest level of Italian football.

In fairness to Hojlund, he’s also far from the only player in recent times to struggle at United before improving elsewhere, just like his Napoli teammate Scott McTominay.

Other exits to watch at Man United

As my report also details, Kobbie Mainoo is another Napoli target ahead of January as he looks likely to push for a move away from United.

Joshua Zirkzee is also one to watch ahead of the winter window after struggling for playing time under Ruben Amorim.

Both players could head to Serie A, with Zirkzee being eyed by Roma, though these deals are not yet as advanced as Hojlund to Napoli.

From Italy: Man United star has Serie A transfer on his mind as new suitors emerge

30 October 2025 at 12:10

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly one of the names on Roma’s list of transfer targets up front ahead of January.

The Netherlands international has struggled for playing time at Man Utd, but previously shone during a spell in Serie A with Bologna.

It seems Zirkzee is now considering returning to Italy, with Roma among his suitors, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Roma look in need of strengthening up front after the poor form of loan signing Evan Ferguson, and Zirkzee could prove a decent option if he can play like he did in his previous spell in Serie A.

What will Manchester United decide on Joshua Zirkzee this January?

Joshua Zirkzee in action for Manchester United
Joshua Zirkzee in action for Manchester United (Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images)

United ended up keeping Zirkzee in the summer, but it could be that they’ll relax their stance on his situation in January.

The Red Devils simply don’t seem to have any room for the 24-year-old at the moment, and it’s hard to see that changing any time soon, even if Ruben Amorim might at some point need to make more use of his squad players.

Zirkzee, however, might not fancy waiting around to find out if he’ll get a chance eventually, as he needs to start playing regularly as soon as possible if he is to stand any chance of making it into the Dutch national squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Who else wants to sign Joshua Zirkzee?

As CaughtOffside reported earlier this week, Zirkzee also has other suitors, such as Premier League clubs Brighton and West Ham United.

MUFC clearly won’t be short of takers for Zirkzee if they decide to offload him, so this might end up being a good window to let him go.

If United keep Zirkzee for too much longer without playing him then it’s only going to be harder to sell him.

Arne Slot complains about his Liverpool squad despite spending almost £450m this summer

30 October 2025 at 10:50

Liverpool manager Arne Slot made a rather baffling complaint about the strength of his squad after last night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Reds are on an absolutely awful run of form at the moment, losing six of their last seven games in all competitions and conceding floods of goals.

Slot worked wonders in his first season at Liverpool, guiding them to the Premier League title last term, but things have quickly turned sour at the start of this campaign.

Remarkably, it seems the Dutch tactician is now saying his squad isn’t nearly as good as the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, despite spending close to £450m in the transfer window just gone (£446m to be precise, as per Sky Sports).

Arne Slot’s expensive squad isn’t big enough, apparently…

Speaking after the 3-0 defeat at home to Palace, Slot said: “Before I went out I saw (Manchester) City’s line up (against Swansea) and I don’t think they had one starter from the weekend, but it felt if you look at their line up, like they played with eleven starters.

? Arne Slot is complaining about the strength of his squad after spending £450m in the summer! ? pic.twitter.com/MLbZM7BQVx

— CaughtOffside (@caughtoffside) October 30, 2025

“So maybe it gives a little bit of an insight. Everyone’s always said what a big squad we’re having…when we played Chelsea I said they’re missing eight but they can still bring Estevao in.

“Now we’re only missing four players at the moment and we already needed to start with four players under the age of 19. And after I made two substitutions, we were on six.”

Liverpool hit full crisis mode

Whatever Slot might think about the state of his squad, this current Liverpool run of form is far from good enough.

Six defeats from seven is shocking for a club of this size, especially after they strolled to the title last season.

Somehow, Liverpool have just got worse despite their big spending, with their new signings struggling to settle, and with the players who performed so well last season going backwards.

It feels slightly crazy to be saying it, but Slot surely has to turn things around very quickly or there’s going to be serious uncertainty over his job soon.

New record: Arsenal have just done something no English top flight club has ever done before

30 October 2025 at 10:18

Arsenal beat Brighton in the Carabao Cup last night to complete a perfect October, with Mikel Arteta’s side winning all six of their games this month without conceding a single goal.

The Gunners look like they really mean business this season, sitting top of the Premier League table with seven wins from nine and only three goals conceded in that time.

Even Arteta’s heavily rotated side last night kept up the team’s perfect record for the month, with goals from Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka taking the club through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

See below as football statisticians Opta have confirmed this is the first time ever that a top flight English side has won six out of six games in a single month without conceding a single goal…

This is some achievement by Arsenal, and although it’s still only early on in the season, it suggests they’re going to be the team to beat this term.

Arsenal’s record-breaking October run in full

Arsenal started the season with some tricky fixtures as they took on Manchester United away on the opening day, and faced Liverpool away at the end of August.

They were also made to work with a late goal to earn them a draw against Manchester City at the end of September, but since then they have been flawless, winning eight games in a row in all competitions.

See below for their record-breaking October fun in full…

Arsenal 2-0 Olympiacos
Arsenal 2-0 West Ham
Fulham 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 4-0 Atletico Madrid
Arsenal 1-0 Crystal Palace
Arsenal 2-0 Brighton

Clearly that’s not the toughest run of games, though Fulham away has been a bit of a tough fixture for the north London giants in recent years, and to thrash Atletico Madrid 4-0 is a hugely impressive result.

Arsenal will have tougher months ahead, for sure, but even if they can’t quite produce a run of results like this again, it’s looking like it’s going to be very hard for anyone to stop them this season.

How much time has Ruben Amorim bought himself with Man United’s win at Liverpool?

A win at Anfield will do wonders for any manager, but perhaps especially if you’re manager of Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson once said that he judged his players on how well he performed in big games like away to United’s arch rivals Liverpool, so what does Sunday’s result mean for Ruben Amorim’s future as manager?

Make no mistake about it, the Portuguese tactician needed a statement result like this, not to mention the fact that it’s the first time he’s actually managed to win back-to-back league games since taking over last year.

United haven’t had the best start to the season, and there’ll still be concerns there after that shocking Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby, as well as that really poor display in the 3-1 defeat away to Brentford.

But Amorim will be feeling a lot more secure in his position now. The question is, should he be, or was this win against a struggling Liverpool side just a bit of a false dawn?

Manchester United rode their luck in 2-1 win against Liverpool

Football is a results business, of course, so the only real thing that matters after Sunday’s game is that United came away from Merseyside with all three points.

Still, there’s no escaping the fact that these games often rest on fine margins, and had any one of Cody Gakpo’s *three* shots against the post gone in, it would have been a very different game.

Arne Slot said after the game that he couldn’t believe how many clear cut chances his side missed, and you certainly feel like a fully fit and firing Alexander Isak would’ve buried that big chance in the first half.

In total, LFC had a whopping 63% possession and a total of 17 shots, 6 of which were on target – if United allow their opponents that kind of dominance too often, you’d be unwise to bet on them winning a lot of games.

Football is unpredictable, though, so if you’re feeling brave you can always try your luck by taking a look at the kind of odds you can get on the wide choice of football sites on FIRST.com.

Is Amorim’s system really working?

On the other hand, Amorim arguably did well to get United creating ten shots, including three on target, when they had so little of the ball.

And some MUFC fans might argue that, for all Liverpool’s dominance, not all their chances were of that great quality.

Matthijs de Ligt has one of his best games in a United shirt, and Amad Diallo really shone in that right wing-back role, so perhaps Amorim is finally winning these players round to his way of playing.

We’ll probably need to see a few more wins in the coming weeks and months to be totally sure of that, but the signs after this big win are looking a little more promising.
