First Glimpse of One UI 9? Hidden clue found in Samsung app
Samsung is currently working on One UI 8.5, but some early hints show that the company may already be preparing another big update based on Android 17, One UI 9. It might debut with Samsung’s 2026 foldable phones. While nothing is official, a recent discovery gives the first hint at One UI 9.
The clue comes from Samsung’s Software Update app, which manages system updates on Galaxy devices. With One UI 8.5, Samsung updated the software update screen to show a large header image at the top.
In an internal build, a new image labeled “major” has been found along with a new image via SammyGuru. This image looks like a wallpaper of One UI 9 as it shows a large number 9.
This suggests Samsung is already preparing the look of the new update. The design hints at a major release, rather than a small improvement.

Samsung recently started the One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series, and now, it looks like another major update is underway. Although the image found in the app is an early hint, Samsung has not officially confirmed any details about One UI 9.
For now, this early hint is just an early sign that Samsung is already planning. While users wait for One UI 8.5, One UI 9 is under preparation behind the scenes. Stay tuned for more information.
