Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund legend Jurgen Klopp is set for a return to management, two years after retiring. The German manager declared he would not be taking another role in Anfield, but he appears to be making an exception for his national team.

Germany exited the World Cup in shock fashion in the Round of 32, being stunned on penalties by Paraguay. It leaves Germany without a win in a knockout tie in the World Cup since they won the tournament in 2014.

Nagelsmann resigns as Germany manager

Initially after the exit, it was reported that Nagelsmann was keen to remain in his position, in spite of the nature of their defeat. However within 48 hours, that had all changed. As reported by Marca, a meeting between Nagelsmann and the German Football Federation (DFB) took place, and neither party left it convinced about continuing together. Shortly afterwards, Nagelsmann handed in his resignation.

Jurgen Klopp to replace Nagelsmann

As signalled by Fabrizio Romano, Jurgen Klopp is likely to replace him. For the past two years, Klopp has denied links to a return to management, on several occasions expressing his frustration over stories placing him at Real Madrid. Over the past 18 months, he has been operating as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, overseeing football operations at the Austrian drinks conglomerate. Yet Romano says that Klopp is open to the idea of taking over die Mannschaft, and the DFB have now confirmed that they will hold talks with the 59-year-old.

Klopp reportedly also has an exit clause in his Red Bull deal specifically for the Germany team. It would be Klopp’s first job in the international game, and just his fourth ever job, despite his storied career. Germany will be desperate to see their fortunes turn around following a series of disappointing tournament showings.

Almaniya Futbol İttifaqı (DFB) bu ölkənin yığma komandasının baş məşqçisi Yulian Nagelsman ilə yolların ayrıldığını rəsmən açıqlayıb.

Arena.az xəbər verir ki, Almaniya millisinin DÇ-2026-nın 1/16 final mərhələsində Paraqvaya penaltilər seriyasında məğlub olaraq turnirlə vidalaşmasından sonra Nagelsman istefa vermək istədiyini federasiya rəhbərliyinə bildirib.

DFB-nin Müşahidə Şurası və səhmdar nümayəndələri məşqçinin xahişini yekdilliklə qəbul edərək müqaviləyə dərhal xitam verilməsi barədə qərar çıxarıb.

DFB prezidenti Bernd Neuendorf Nagelsmana gördüyü işlərə görə təşəkkür edib:

“Almaniya Futbol İttifaqı 2023-cü ilin sentyabrından bəri göstərdiyi xidmətlərə görə Yulian Nagelsmana minnətdardır. O, böyük fədakarlığı, yüksək ambisiyası və məsuliyyət hissi ilə seçilən, hər kəsin hörmət etdiyi bir insandır”.

Nagelsmann: “Millinin yeni başlanğıca ehtiyacı var”

38 yaşlı mütəxəssis qərarının asan verilmədiyini bildirib:

“Son günlər ərzində çox düşündüm və həm yaxınlarımla, həm də federasiya rəhbərliyi ilə məsləhətləşdim. Bu qərarı vermək mənim üçün çox çətin oldu. Mənim əsas məqsədim həmişə millinin uğuru olub. Belə ağır məyusluqdan sonra komanda təzyiqsiz yeni başlanğıca layiqdir.

Məşqçilər korpusuna, bütün əməkdaşlara və xüsusilə də futbolçulara təşəkkür edirəm. Azarkeşlərimizə ayrıca minnətdaram. Siz bizə inandınız, bizi dəstəklədiniz və ən çətin anlarda belə güc verdiniz. Sizi məyus etdiyimiz üçün ürəkdən üzr istəyirəm. Siz bundan daha artığını haqq edirdiniz”.

Föller: “Məsuliyyəti üzərinə götürdü”

DFB-nin idman direktoru Rudi Föller isə Nagelsmannın addımını yüksək qiymətləndirib:

“Bu uğursuzluqdan sonra Yulianın qərarı böyük hörmətə layiqdir. O, məsuliyyəti öz üzərinə götürdü və şəxsi maraqlarını yox, milli komandanın gələcəyini üstün tutdu. O, əla məşqçidir və gələcəkdə də uğurlar qazanacağına inanıram”.

Klopp əsas namizəd sayılır

DFB artıq yeni baş məşqçi axtarışına başlayıb. Federasiyanın ilk hədəfinin Yurgen Klopp olduğu bildirilir. Rəsmi açıqlamaya əsasən, Klopp Almaniya millisini çalışdırmaq variantına prinsip etibarilə müsbət yanaşır və yaxın vaxtlarda tərəflər arasında danışıqlar aparılacaq.

Nagelsmanla birlikdə köməkçi məşqçilər Benjamin Qlük və Benjamin Hübner də milli komandadan ayrılıblar.

Yulian Nagelsman 2023-cü ilin sentyabrından Almaniya millisinə rəhbərlik edirdi. Onun rəhbərliyi altında komanda AÇ-2024-də 1/4 finala yüksəlmişdi. Lakin DÇ-2026-da 1/16 finalda Paraqvay milli futbol komandası ilə qarşılaşmada əsas və əlavə vaxtı 1:1 hesabı ilə başa çatan oyunda penaltilər seriyasında 3:4 hesabı ilə məğlub olaraq mübarizəni dayandırdı. Bu nəticədən sonra Nagelsman vəzifəsini tərk etmək qərarı verib.

Jurgen Klopp’s name is once again being linked with the Germany national team job after fresh attention around a reported exit clause in his Red Bull contract.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Klopp has an option in his agreement with the Red Bull group that would allow him to leave if he wanted to become Germany’s head coach.

The former Liverpool manager is currently working as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, a role he took after stepping away from day-to-day management.

The timing of this story is significant. Germany have just suffered another major tournament disappointment after being knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup by Paraguay on penalties.

Reuters reported that Julian Nagelsmann said he does not intend to resign, but admitted there are fundamental issues that need to change.

Germany job specualtion grows after World Cup disaster

Klopp has long been viewed as the dream candidate for the German Football Association.

His personality, leadership style and track record at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool make him an obvious name whenever Germany struggle.

The problem has always been timing. Klopp left Liverpool because he needed a break from the intensity of frontline coaching, and his Red Bull role was supposed to give him influence without the daily pressure of managing a team.

However, the reported exit clause changes the conversation.

If Germany decide to move on from Nagelsmann, they would at least know there may be a pathway to approach Klopp.

Bavarian Football Works has also reported that the Germany job is one of the few projects Klopp could consider if the circumstances were right.

Klopp to Germany still feels possible but complicated

Klopp would be the perfect emotional reset for Germany.

The national team needs energy, belief and a stronger identity, and Klopp is one of the few coaches capable of changing the mood almost instantly.

But this is not a simple decision. Klopp has already stepped away from the weekly pressure of management, and taking the Germany job after another World Cup failure would be an enormous challenge.

Still, if the DFB want a true statement appointment, Klopp is the name that makes the most sense.

The clause does not mean he will take the job, but it keeps the door open and after Germany’s latest collapse, that door suddenly feels much more important.
