Rio Ferdinand hits out at “fake comments” about controversial England-Ghana incident

Rio Ferdinand has hit back at comments being attributed to him about Thomas Partey after Djed Spence appeared to snub him in the pre-match handshake this week.

Spence seemed to avoid shaking hands with Partey before England and Ghana played out a 0-0 draw in their World Cup 2026 Group L clash on Tuesday night.

This comes amid Partey being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault back in 2025, relating to incidents which allegedly took place between 2021 and 2022.

It seems a fake quote doing the rounds had Ferdinand hitting out at Spence for his judgement, as Partey has not yet been found guilty, though the pundit has since posted on X that these comments are fake…

Ferdinand has not commented on the incident any further, it would seem, so it’s not clear if these are in any way an accurate representation of what he thinks.

There is seemingly no record of Ferdinand saying this anywhere apart from social media quotes that do not mention an original source.

Despite the very serious allegations against Partey, he continued to play for Arsenal until leaving the club in summer 2025, and he’s now on the books at La Liga club Villarreal.

What’s the latest on the Thomas Partey case?

Partey is due to have a further trial after previously pleading not guilty to the charges against him, as reported by the BBC.

The report adds that Partey “remains on bail during the legal proceedings, with the condition that he does not contact the alleged victims”.

The Guardian have also reported on how Partey was not allowed into Canada for Ghana’s opening group game, though he did get a VISA to play against England in the US.

Ghana manager Carlos Queiroz has defended selecting the 33-year-old, saying: “Let events run their normal course, let the river flow and one day, when the river meets the ocean, we will find the truth.”

Fabrizio Romano declares “here we go” for Manchester United star to seal new loan transfer

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly set to return to Trabzonspor on loan for a second season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Posting on his official account on X, Romano says Onana’s second loan spell with the Turkish club is now “here we go”, with the final details being sorted before it can officially go through.

“Andre Onana to Trabzonspor, here we go! New loan deal verbally agreed as Onana is not part of #MUFC plan for next season and Trabzon are ready to re-sign him,” Romano said.

He added: “Trabzonspor to pay loan fee to United as details being sorted then done.”

It certainly makes sense for Man Utd to offload Onana again as he looked so poor for so much of his time at Old Trafford, with Senne Lammens now the clear number one for Michael Carrick’s side.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

United may well be disappointed not to have been able to sell Onana permanently, but if there’s a loan fee coming in for him, then it’s not such bad business for the Red Devils overall.

Our information a few months back was that Onana was also open to a move to Serie A, but this never materialised into anything concrete.

No future for Andre Onana at Manchester United

As Romano said above, Onana is not in United’s plans, so it’s undoubtedly for the best that he’s moved on again for the season ahead.

It’s very hard to see there being a way back for the Cameroon international as a MUFC player, especially if Lammens continues to perform as well as he has.

Onana can be a quality ‘keeper on his day, as he showed at former club Inter Milan, but it certainly seems like playing for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League was just too much of a step up for him.

Trabzonspor are seemingly happy with the 30-year-old, though, as they’ve brought him back for a second spell, so this looks like a deal that suits everyone involved.

New: Our exclusive on Nico Paz now confirmed as Arsenal & Chelsea get fresh transfer opportunity

The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea look set to get another opportunity to sign Argentine playmaker Nico Paz as he’s returning to Real Madrid via a buy-back clause.

Paz had shone during a spell with Como, and we reported a couple of months back that Real’s plan was to bring him back to the Bernabeu this summer.

This has now been confirmed today by Fabrizio Romano, who has posted on X about Madrid informing the Serie A club of their decision, though he also suggests that Paz will be available on the market for around €60m.

See below for details as Romano provides his latest info on Paz’s future…

Interestingly, Romano makes it clear that Paz will be “on the market again” after returning to Madrid, with Como able to sign him permanently for €60m, while other clubs may face paying even more.

New Nico Paz transfer opportunity for Arsenal and Chelsea?

Interestingly, this latest information differs slightly from what we were told, which was that Paz was being brought back to Madrid to be a key first-team player.

We were told that Arsenal and Chelsea looked into the 21-year-old’s situation but were told he would not be available. It would appear that this has now changed, and is most likely due to the surprise return of Jose Mourinho as manager, which has signalled a clear shift in direction in terms of recruitment.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

It’s very clear that Mourinho’s return is part of an overall shift of strategy towards experience, both in the manager that has been brought in and the players he’ll be working under, such as Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries.

This means there won’t be room for Paz unless something dramatic happens in the coming weeks, and he’ll be available for the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to try again for his signature.

Clearly the young South American won’t come cheap, but he’s very highly regarded, so surely won’t be short of suitors willing to put big money on the table.

Leeds United turn attention towards more signing after Harry Wilson deal

Leeds United appear to be wasting no time in the summer transfer window, with their move for Harry Wilson looking like just the beginning of a bigger recruitment push.

According to Sky Sports, Leeds have agreed a deal to sign the Wales international on a free transfer once his Fulham contract expires at the end of June.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Wilson enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists for Fulham, so landing him without a transfer fee looks like smart business.

The deal is still subject to a medical, but Leeds look well placed to make him one of their first major summer additions.

Leeds United target more creativity after Wilson deal

Wilson’s arrival would give Daniel Farke more Premier League quality, but Leeds are not expected to stop there.

Daily Mail have reported that Leeds have been exploring a move for Julian Brandt, who is set to leave Borussia Dortmund as a free agent.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Brandt would be an ambitious signing. The German playmaker has Champions League experience, technical quality and the ability to play between the lines.

His wages could be a challenge, but if Leeds can make the numbers work, signing two proven attackers on free transfers would be a major statement.

Shea Charles is another player on Farke’s radar

Leeds are also looking at Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.

Leeds All Over reported that Leeds have made a £20m-plus move for the 22-year-old, while Southampton’s difficult end to last season could influence the situation.

Leeds are moving in the right way. Wilson is a clever free transfer, Brandt would bring genuine class, and Charles would add long-term value.

The key is balance. Leeds need quality, but they cannot afford reckless spending.

If they can mix smart free-agent deals with one or two younger investments, this could become a very strong window.

Spurs reach verbal agreement for £80 million signing

Tottenham appear to be making serious moves in the race to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, with reports suggesting they have stepped up their pursuit of the highly rated Portuguese international.

The 21-year-old has attracted attention from several major clubs in recent weeks, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

However, Spurs now seem to be pushing hardest to get a deal done, with some reports claiming they have reached a verbal agreement with West Ham.

Neither club has officially confirmed an agreement, but the direction of the story is clear: Tottenham are trying to move quickly before their rivals can respond.

Man United transfer blow as Spurs step up interest

This could be a frustrating development for Man United.

The Guardian previously reported that United were leading the chase for Fernandes, while Sky Sports claimed the Red Devils were preparing an opening bid.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

United have been looking to reshape their midfield, and Fernandes fits the profile of a modern Premier League player.

He is young, technically secure, energetic and capable of developing into a long-term starter.

That is exactly why Tottenham’s sudden progress will be viewed as a blow at Old Trafford.

Spurs, meanwhile, appear ready to offer a stronger financial package, and that could prove decisive in such a competitive race.

West Ham’s £80m valuation sets up big London deal

West Ham are believed to value Fernandes at around £80m, with The Times reporting that Tottenham are hopeful of beating Manchester United to the midfielder.

For Tottenham, this would be an ambitious signing. Adding Fernandes would give them more quality, control and long-term potential in midfield, while also sending a message that they are ready to compete aggressively in the market.

This would be a huge statement from Tottenham if they can complete it.

Fernandes is expensive, but he has the age, profile and potential to become a major Premier League midfielder.

Bid rejected: Arsenal move for top English target suffers major blow

Arsenal have had an opening offer rejected for Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga, but the Gunners remain firmly in the race for one of English football’s most exciting young talents.

According to The Times, Arsenal submitted a bid worth £5m, including a 10 per cent sell-on clause, for the 16-year-old winger. Leicester turned down that proposal, but there appears to be room for negotiation.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

The Foxes were initially believed to value Monga at around £15m, though their asking price has now reportedly dropped to about £10m plus a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

Talks are not believed to be over, and Arsenal seem keen to move quickly before rival clubs get more serious.

Arsenal hold strong interest in the English winger

Monga is not just another academy prospect.

He has already made senior history, becoming the second-youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League when he featured for Leicester at just 15 years and 271 days.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

For Arsenal, this deal fits their recent strategy perfectly. The club have invested heavily in elite young talent and have shown they are willing to give opportunities to players with serious potential.

Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are all examples of how the pathway at Arsenal can attract the best young players in the country.

Monga is a quick, direct winger who likes to take players on, and that kind of profile is always valuable.

He would not be expected to walk straight into Mikel Arteta’s first team, but he could be developed carefully within one of the Premier League’s strongest youth setups.

Leicester City are standing firm on their demands

Leicester’s stance is understandable. Even after reducing their valuation, they do not want to lose a top academy product cheaply.

A higher sell-on clause also makes sense, especially if Monga develops into a major Premier League player.

For Arsenal, the question is whether paying around £10m for a 16-year-old is smart business or a gamble.

Arsenal should push to complete this signing if the final package stays close to £10m.

There is always risk with teenage players, but Monga’s early senior experience and natural ability make him worth the investment.

This is exactly the type of deal Arsenal should be making before the price becomes impossible.

Arsenal midfield target makes transfer stance clear amid Atletico Madrid interest

Arsenal may have been handed a major boost in their search for midfield reinforcements, with Roma midfielder Manu Koné reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

According to reports in Italy, the 25-year-old has made it clear that Arsenal would be his preferred destination if he leaves Roma before the end of the transfer window.

There have also been suggestions that personal terms have already been discussed with the Gunners, although a club-to-club agreement is still missing.

Roma are believed to value Koné at around €50m, which is roughly £43m.

That is a serious fee, but not a shocking one in the current market, especially for a player entering his peak years and already performing at a high level for club and country.

Arsenal are looking for a powerful midfielder

For Arsenal, the interest makes plenty of sense. Mikel Arteta’s side have quality in midfield, but they still need more physicality, ball-winning ability and depth across a long season.

Koné offers something slightly different. He is strong, energetic, aggressive in duels and comfortable carrying the ball through pressure.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Those traits could make him a useful option next to Declan Rice, especially in bigger matches where Arsenal need more control and defensive security.

He is also part of France’s World Cup squad, meaning Arsenal fans will have another chance to watch him closely on the international stage.

Strong performances in the tournament could raise his price even further.

Atletico Madrid interest adds pressure on Gunners

Arsenal are not alone in this race. Atlético Madrid have also been linked with Koné, and their interest could force the Gunners to make a quicker decision.

However, some reports have also suggested Arsenal are playing down talk of advanced negotiations.

That means this may not be as close as the Italian press are making it sound, even if the player’s preference appears encouraging.

Koné would be a smart signing for Arsenal, but only if Roma remain realistic with the asking price.

He fits the profile of a modern Premier League midfielder and could give Arteta more tactical flexibility.

Brazilian superstar with €80m release clause wanted by Carrick at Man United

Manchester United are reportedly among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on FC Porto winger William Gomes, with the 20-year-old Brazilian emerging as one of the more exciting young attackers in Portugal.

According to A Bola, via Sport Witness, United have been linked with Gomes alongside Arsenal and Newcastle United, while Atlético Madrid and Roma are also believed to be watching his development closely.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

The winger only joined Porto from São Paulo in January 2025, but his progress has already made him a name to follow during the summer transfer window.

No official offer has been reported, but United’s interest makes sense given their need for more quality, speed and unpredictability in wide areas.

Man United are looking for more attacking depth

Man United have lacked consistency from their wide players in recent seasons, and Gomes fits the type of profile the club should be looking at.

He is young, direct, comfortable playing on either flank and still has plenty of room to develop.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

That versatility could be especially useful at Old Trafford. United need attackers who can rotate across the front line, stretch defences and offer something different in one-v-one situations.

Gomes has an €80m release clause, but reports suggest Porto could consider selling for around €45m.

Can United match Porto’s asking price?

For United, this is the type of transfer that requires smart judgement.

They cannot afford another expensive gamble, but they also need to identify young talent before rivals move first.

Gomes would be an exciting signing for Man United, but only at the right price. The talent is clear, and his profile suits what United need in attack.

However, €45m is not a small fee for potential. United should stay involved, watch Porto’s stance closely and only make a move if the deal fits their wider rebuild.

They are expected to face intense competition to sign the FC Porto winger.

Bergvall has several options on the table but Tottenham rivals clear favourite to sign him

Nottingham Forest are reportedly one of the leading contenders to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall this summer.

According to talkSPORT, the Sweden international has told Spurs he wants to leave, despite only signing a contract extension until 2031 last year.

That makes his situation one of the more interesting midfield stories of the window.

Forest’s interest makes sense. With Elliot Anderson expected to join Manchester City, they are looking for a young, high-upside midfielder who can help fill the gap.

Bergvall is still only 20, but he already has Premier League experience, international pedigree and the technical ability to play in different midfield roles.

Chelsea and Villa not active for Bergvall

Chelsea and Aston Villa have both enquired about Bergvall in the past, but there are currently no approaches from either club.

That gives Forest a potential opening. Chelsea explored the situation earlier this year, but Evening Standard reported that they are not planning a move at this stage.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Villa have also been linked, but their interest has not turned into anything concrete.

For Tottenham, that could be frustrating. If more clubs were actively pushing, Spurs might have been able to create a stronger market.

Tottenham face difficult decision

Tottenham are believed to want around £45m if they decide to sell. That is a big fee, but understandable given Bergvall’s age, contract length and potential.

The problem is his role under Roberto De Zerbi. If he does not see a clear pathway to regular minutes, a move may suit all parties.

Forest could offer him a more central project and regular football, while Spurs could raise funds for their own rebuild.

Forest appear to be in a strong position. Chelsea and Villa are watching from distance, but right now, the clearest route for Bergvall may be a move to the City Ground.

Bruno Fernandes tells Man United teammates his transfer decision after Saudi interest

Manchester United look set to keep hold of Bruno Fernandes, with the club captain reportedly making it clear that he has no plans to leave Old Trafford this summer.

According to talkSPORT, the 31-year-old Portugal midfielder has told some of his teammates that he intends to stay at United, despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Clubs in the Saudi Pro League have been linked with big-money moves for Fernandes, and the interest has not come as a major surprise given his status, experience and influence.

The expectation is that Fernandes will remain a Man United player heading into the new season.

Saudi interest fails to tempt Man United star

Fernandes has been one of United’s most important players since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020.

He has carried a huge creative burden for several seasons and, even when United have struggled, he has often been the player trying to make things happen.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Saudi clubs can offer massive wages, but Fernandes appears to be prioritising competitive football and his role at Old Trafford.

That decision will come as a major relief to United supporters, especially during a summer where the club are expected to make changes across the squad.

Keeping club captain matters for the Red Devils

This is not just about keeping a talented midfielder. It is about keeping leadership, experience and a player who understands the pressure of playing for United.

United still need fresh energy in midfield, but allowing Fernandes to leave would have forced them to replace both his creativity and his personality.

That is not easy, especially in a difficult transfer market where proven playmakers are expensive.

Keeping Fernandes is the correct decision. Some fans may argue United should cash in while his value is still high, but selling their captain during another rebuilding phase would be a risky move.

Fernandes can still be frustrating at times, but his quality, mentality and availability make him too important to lose.

Kalvin Phillips is being offered a way out of Man City nightmare as talks advance

Sheffield United are moving closer to bringing Kalvin Phillips back to Bramall Lane, with advanced talks taking place with Manchester City over a fresh loan deal.

According to Football Insider, the Blades are working to finalise another agreement for the 30-year-old England midfielder after his previous spell in South Yorkshire.

Phillips joined Sheffield United on loan in February but his time on the pitch was limited after a knee injury disrupted his season.

Even so, the fact United are pushing to bring him back says plenty about how highly Chris Wilder still rates him.

Is it a gamble worth taking for Sheffield United?

From Sheffield United’s point of view, this would be a calculated risk rather than a flashy signing.

Phillips has not had an easy few years since leaving Leeds United for Man City in 2022, struggling for regular football under Pep Guardiola and then failing to fully rebuild his rhythm during loan spells away from the Etihad.

However, there is still a player there. At his best, Phillips offers control, defensive discipline and leadership in midfield, exactly the type of profile Sheffield United could use if they want to build a stronger promotion push.

ESPN also reported earlier in June that the Blades were interested in re-signing him, so this has clearly been a long-running target rather than a sudden move.

Phillips needs a fresh start after Man City spell

For City, another loan would make sense if Phillips is not part of their first-team plans.

For Sheffield United, the deal could be smart if the financial terms are right and his fitness checks out.

Nothing has been officially completed, but talks appear to be moving in a positive direction.

If Phillips can stay fit, this could be the kind of low-risk, high-upside signing that gives the Blades’ midfield a much-needed lift.

Man United eye free-agent goalkeeper as Onana & Bayindir exit becomes inevitable

According to The Sun, the 30-year-old has emerged as a possible target after being released by Nottingham Forest.

United are looking for an experienced goalkeeper this summer, with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

The situation makes sense from a squad-building point of view.

Senne Lammens has established himself as United’s first-choice goalkeeper, but Carrick still needs reliable depth, especially with Champions League football returning.

Signing an experienced free agent would allow United to strengthen the position without spending heavily.

Jason Wilcox link could matter

One interesting detail is Gunn’s previous connection with Jason Wilcox.

The Scotland international came through Manchester City’s academy when Wilcox was part of the coaching structure and later head of the academy.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

That relationship does not guarantee anything, but it could help United understand the player’s character, development and suitability.

Gunn may not be a glamorous signing, but he is experienced, available and familiar with English football.

He has also been active at the World Cup with Scotland, starting their opening matches against Haiti and Morocco.

That visibility has kept him in the spotlight despite a quiet club season at Forest.

Karl Darlow also on shortlist for Man United

United are also tracking Karl Darlow, who is out of contract with Leeds United next week.

The 35-year-old made 22 appearances last season and is currently in talks over a possible renewal.

This suggests United are not looking for a new No.1, but rather an experienced squad goalkeeper who can compete, cover and accept a supporting role.

Gunn appears to be one of the low-cost names under consideration. If Onana and Bayindir both leave, United may move quickly for a practical replacement rather than chasing an expensive marquee option.

Fresh twist makes it clear why Tottenham are leading Man United in Fernandes race

Manchester United could be at risk of losing ground to Tottenham Hotspur in the race for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes because of wages.

According to The Sun, Spurs are prepared to go big on salaries for key targets this summer, while United are trying to keep their wage structure under control.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That difference could become important in the battle for Fernandes, who is valued at around £80m by West Ham.

Man United have been working on a deal for the Portugal international for weeks, and Michael Carrick sees midfield as one of the main areas to strengthen.

Fernandes’ energy, ball-carrying and technical quality make him a good fit for the rebuild.

However, Tottenham’s aggressive approach could now complicate things.

Tottenham spending with ambition

Spurs have already shown they are ready to move boldly in the market.

They had an £80m bid rejected for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali and have also been linked with Marcus Rashford.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Rashford’s United salary is set to rise to around £325,000-a-week next month, and reports have suggested Tottenham would be willing to meet his wage demands.

That tells you how serious Spurs are about landing proven attacking and midfield talent for Roberto De Zerbi.

Man United refusing to repeat old mistakes

United’s position is different. Chief executive Omar Berrada recently stressed that the club must be “really disciplined” and cannot allow agents or the market to dictate their decisions.

That is a sensible approach after years of expensive contracts causing problems at Old Trafford.

Fernandes is represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, which also works with United players Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte.

That relationship could help talks, but United are clearly trying to avoid overpaying.

This is a real test of United’s new transfer strategy. Fernandes would be a strong signing, but walking away from unreasonable wages may also be part of building a healthier club.

United remain interested, but Tottenham’s financial push could make this race far more difficult.

Sources: Liverpool and Man United alerted as fierce rivals face £60m defender dilemma

Luka Vušković is quickly becoming one of the most interesting defensive names of the summer transfer window, and both Liverpool and Manchester United should be paying close attention.

The Croatian centre-back impressed during his loan spell at Hamburg, where his physical presence, aerial strength and goal threat helped build his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders.

His future at Tottenham remains uncertain, especially after Sky Sports reported that Brighton had made an improved £45m offer for the teenager.

Spurs are believed to value him at more than £60m, and with his contract running until 2030, they are under no pressure to accept a cheap deal, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

Liverpool are looking for a long term defensive solution

For Liverpool, this is exactly the type of situation worth monitoring.

The Reds have already had to think carefully about their defensive future, with Virgil van Dijk no longer a long-term option and questions around how the back line will evolve over the next few years.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Get German Football News previously reported that Liverpool were among the clubs watching Vušković, and it makes sense.

He is young, aggressive, dominant in the air and already experienced in a top European league.

A missed opportunity waiting to happen for Man United?

Man United also need to be alert.

They have spent heavily on defenders in recent windows, but they still require long-term planning at centre-back.

If Vušković is available, even at a high price, he fits the profile of a player who could grow into a top Premier League defender.

The question for United is whether they can move early enough before clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich or Barcelona become too serious.

Liverpool should be more aggressive in this race than United. Vušković looks like a natural fit for a defensive rebuild and could be developed without needing to carry the team immediately.

United should monitor him, but Liverpool’s need feels clearer.

BBC confirms midfielder bombshell as rival club are out to ruin Man United transfer plans

According to BBC Sport, discussions are ongoing and there is some optimism that a deal could be possible.

West Ham are understood to want around £80m for the Portugal international, who has also attracted interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

That price is high, but Tottenham’s interest feels serious.

De Zerbi wants more technical control, energy and creativity in the middle of the pitch, and Fernandes fits that type of profile.

He is young, confident on the ball and already has Premier League experience, which makes him an attractive option for a club trying to move quickly under a new manager.

Tonali setback changes Spurs’ focus

Tottenham’s move for Fernandes comes after they failed with an ambitious attempt to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.

BBC Sport reported that Spurs had a bid worth around £80m rejected for the Italy international last week.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

De Zerbi is a long-time admirer of Tonali, but Newcastle’s refusal has forced Tottenham to explore other midfield routes.

That is where Fernandes becomes important. He may not bring Tonali’s experience, but he offers more long-term upside and could develop into a key player in De Zerbi’s system.

Man United still active in the background

Man United have also shown interest in Fernandes, which means Tottenham cannot afford to move slowly.

United have been linked with the midfielder for weeks, while talkSPORT has reported that Spurs are trying to rival them for his signature.

For West Ham, this situation is ideal. With several clubs interested, they can hold firm on their valuation rather situation is ideal.

Tottenham are pushing, talks are active and there is growing belief that an agreement could be reached.

Talks started: Chelsea target ambitious move for Frenchman currently at the World Cup

Chelsea have started talks over a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix as Xabi Alonso looks to reshape his defence this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have opened discussions for the French defender, who has emerged as one of several centre-back options under consideration at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are expected to sign at least one new central defender, and possibly two, depending on who leaves before the end of the window.

That makes this a very important area for the club. Chelsea have already been busy strengthening other parts of the squad, but Alonso clearly wants more pace, athleticism and reliability at the back.

Lacroix would be an ideal signing for Chelsea

Lacroix would make sense for Chelsea because he already has Premier League experience and has shown he can defend aggressively in a high line.

He is quick across the ground, strong in duels and comfortable enough on the ball to play in a possession-based system.

The Telegraph has reported that Chelsea are preparing to advance their interest, while Evening Standard claims the club are ready to sell Trevoh Chalobah this summer if the right offer arrives.

The French centre-back is currently at the World Cup as he is a part of the France national team squad.

Chalobah exit could unlock move

Chalobah’s future is central to the situation.

The defender is wanted in Italy, with Como among the clubs showing interest.

Because he is an academy graduate, any sale would also help Chelsea financially from a squad-building perspective.

That may explain why Chelsea are moving early on alternatives. Lacroix is not the only name being assessed, but he appears to be one of the more realistic Premier League-proven options.

This is a sensible direction for Chelsea. Alonso’s system needs defenders who can cover space, defend one-v-one and build attacks calmly. Lacroix ticks many of those boxes.

Talks have started, Chelsea are working on several centre-back options, and the number of defensive signings could depend heavily on Chalobah’s future.

22-year-old Premier League winger has made up his mind over Tottenham move

Tottenham Hotspur are still trying to reach an agreement with Manchester City for Brazilian winger Savinho, with the player already understood to be open to the move.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Spurs remain in talks with City as they look to bring the 22-year-old to north London.

Savinho has reportedly given his availability to join Tottenham for around two weeks, meaning the biggest obstacle is no longer the player’s side, it is the club-to-club negotiation.

That is an important detail. When a player is open to the move, it usually gives the buying club more confidence.

But Man City are not an easy club to negotiate with, especially when they believe a player still has long-term value.

Tottenham are looking to add attacking depth

This deal makes a lot of sense for Roberto De Zerbi.

Tottenham need more pace, creativity and unpredictability in wide areas, and Savinho offers exactly that.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

He is direct, technically sharp and comfortable attacking defenders in one-v-one situations.

Football365 previously reported that Schira claimed Savinho was getting closer to Tottenham after agreeing terms on a long-term deal.

Spurs Web also reported that the winger had agreed a contract until 2031.

For Spurs, this is not just about adding another attacker. It is about giving De Zerbi the type of explosive wide player who can stretch teams and make his possession-heavy system more dangerous.

Man City decision remains key

The main question is Man City’s valuation. Savinho has not always been guaranteed minutes, but City know his age and profile make him a valuable asset.

They may only sell if Tottenham reach a serious fee. This is the kind of signing Spurs should push hard for.

He is young enough to improve, but already experienced enough to make a mark at Spurs.

Tottenham are still working on the deal, Savinho is open to joining, and the final decision now rests on whether Spurs can satisfy Man City.

Approach prepared for Morgan Rogers and two other major Arsenal transfer updates

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make an approach to Aston Villa over the transfer of Morgan Rogers, while there’s also an update on Ayyoub Bouaddi and Jeremy Monga.

In what could be a busy summer for the Gunners, it seems they’re dead set on Villa and England attacker Rogers as one of their top priorities.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who also claim that Arsenal are closing in on a £10m deal for Leicester City wonderkid Monga, and that the north London giants have also held talks over Lille midfield wonderkid Bouaddi.

Arsenal fans will be excited to see increasing coverage on the club’s pursuit of Rogers, who finished the 2025/26 season with 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

The England international can play wide on the left or as a number ten – two positions Mikel Arteta could do with strengthening.

How Arsenal could line up with Morgan Rogers and Ayyoub Bouaddi signings

Out of those names being linked, it seems likely that only Rogers and Bouaddi would go into the Arsenal starting line up straight away.

Even then, it’s not exactly clear how AFC would line up, with Rogers looking like a decent upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left, though Martin Odegaard’s fitness and form is also a concern.

Bouaddi would probably not start a lot of games straight away, but has shown huge potential in recent times and could be a good option to occasionally partner Declan Rice in midfield…

“Official bid” for Chelsea star has just been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea have reportedly received an official bid for defender Trevoh Chalobah from Serie A side Como, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Posting on his official X account, Romano says that Como are keen on Chalobah and seem to have moved ahead of Inter Milan in the race for his signature.

For now, however, Chalobah is at the World Cup 2026 with England, and will seemingly not rush into a decision on his future, according to Romano…

“Trevoh Chalobah can leave Chelsea this summer and Como send initial official bid for the centre back,” Romano posted. “Understand Inter have also looked at Chalobah among centre back options. English CB focused on World Cup but UCL clubs keen.”

Should Chelsea let Trevoh Chalobah leave this summer?

It’s probably time for Chelsea and Chalobah to part ways, even if the 26-year-old has been a solid and reliable servant for the club.

With over 150 Chelsea appearances to his name, Chalobah has been something of a stalwart for the Blues in this rather chaotic period of much chopping and changing of both managers and players.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Still, it’s also probably the case that CFC need to be aiming a bit higher in central defence, so Chalobah might also think of this as a good time to move on.

Como, managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, also looks like an attractive project at the moment, so could be a good destination for Chalobah to play regularly and contribute to a team’s development.

Chelsea to replace Trevoh Chalobah?

It’s worth noting that Como’s bid for Chalobah also comes as Chelsea seem to be working on centre-back signings of their own.

Plans could already be underway for the west London giants to replace Chalobah with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix or Como’s talented young defender Jacobo Ramon.

Chelsea are said to be stepping up their interest in Ramon, as per TEAMtalk‘s earlier report, while see below for a post from Ben Jacobs on X about their interest in Lacroix…

Sources: Arsenal lower their asking price for first-team star as transfer saga continues

Arsenal are understood to have lowered their asking price for Gabriel Jesus to something more in the region of £20-25m.

Sources I’ve spoken to today, who’ve asked to remain anonymous to protect relationships, state that the Gunners are now open to slightly lower offers for Jesus, having initially wanted closer to £30m for the Brazilian forward.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Jesus himself is not pushing to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, but Arsenal are likely to make changes to their attack and there’s a willingness to get the injury-prone 29-year-old off the club’s wage bill.

Everton have a long-standing interest in Jesus, but have not yet come forward with an offer, while there’s also been some indication of interest from his former club Palmeiras.

For the time being, however, nothing has advanced with this deal due to concerns over Jesus’ asking price and his wage demands.

Arsenal trying to attract Gabriel Jesus suitors

“Arsenal are hoping to sell Gabriel Jesus this summer and there’s an awareness that that means being more realistic about their asking price,” one source said.

“At the moment the message is that clubs won’t pay big for him – there are understandable concerns about his fitness record.”

This is likely to be one of a number of sales made by Arsenal this summer, as I’ve previously reported.

The Premier League champions are also open to offloading the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Christian Norgaard, and loaned-out misfits such as Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.

Despite plenty of talk about Ethan Nwaneri, I’m still getting fairly mixed messages from sources I’ve spoken to. I’ll keep doing some digging and report back when I have something that actually feels concrete.

As reported earlier today, it is my understanding that Viktor Gyokeres is NOT likely to leave Arsenal this summer, while the Julian Alvarez deal also looks tricky for the Gunners as things stand.

From Spain: Chelsea & Liverpool transfer target made available for €65m

Barcelona are reportedly open to offers for defender Jules Kounde this summer following recent interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

We recently reported that Chelsea were keen on Kounde, while Liverpool could also be one to watch in the race for his signature.

Now a report from Sport states that the France international’s Barca future is in some doubt this summer, with the club open to a sale, though the player himself would prefer to stay.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Additional information from Fichajes states that Kounde’s asking price would be in the region of €65m, which could well be tempting for some top clubs out there.

Where next for Jules Kounde as Barcelona open to offers?

Kounde can play centre-back or right-back to a high standard, and has been pretty consistent with his performances for Barcelona and the French national team down the years.

The 27-year-old surely still has plenty to offer at the highest level, but it’s not clear what the future holds for him at this stage.

Sport suggests Kounde is no longer viewed as untouchable, but if he wants to stay at the Nou Camp then it could be tricky to arrange an exit.

Despite our previous information about Chelsea’s interest in Kounde, there has seemingly not been any significant update, with the Blues instead continuing to target top young talents.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

That looks set to see the west Londoners go for Marco Palestra at right-back instead, so there might not be much of a need for them to also bring in Kounde.

This would also be a big change of strategy from CFC, who have prioritised bringing in elite young players to build for the future.

While some fans might be keen to see them being more flexible with that policy, it’s perhaps hard to see Kounde being someone they’d make this exception for.

Palestra’s arrival could mean Malo Gusto leaves Stamford Bridge, but they also have Reece James in that position, so there probably wouldn’t be much sense in moving for another right-back.

World Cup injury blow for England as Arsenal & Chelsea stars face fitness checks

After last night’s disappointing draw with Ghana, there’s more worrying World Cup news breaking for England today as Declan Rice and Reece James are reportedly fitness concerns for the Panama game.

The pair are key players for Thomas Tuchel’s side, and started both games of the World Cup campaign so far against Croatia and Ghana.

However, the Telegraph are now reporting that the duo face fitness checks ahead of the Panama game.

Here’s what we know so far based on the report…

Declan Rice injury doesn’t look too serious

Rice couldn’t complete the 90 minutes against Croatia and also had some issues at the end of the 0-0 draw with Ghana.

The Telegraph state that the Arsenal midfielder left the stadium with strapping on his left calf, but it’s not thought to be anything particularly serious or long term.

It could, however, be an issue that requires late checks for Rice ahead of England’s final group game against Panama.

Reece James was uncomfortable against Ghana

The report is a bit vague on James’ fitness, with the Chelsea right-back said to have felt uncomfortable in the Ghana game.

Still, James was able to complete 90 minutes in both of England’s games so far, even if it’s perhaps sensible to be cautious with him due to his poor injury record over the years.

The 26-year-old is an important player for England, with the Telegraph noting that Tuchel has also had him training in midfield as he could fill in for Rice in that position.

Now, however, both players could be out for the Panama game, in a major blow for the Three Lions’ preparations in what looks a close group at the moment.

England have four points, putting them level with Ghana, while Croatia have three and Panama have zero.

“Fascinating situation” – Ben Jacobs explains how Arsenal could sanction surprise sale

The Viktor Gyokeres situation at Arsenal this summer has been described as “fascinating” by transfer news expert Ben Jacobs.

I’ve been reliably told by sources close to the situation that Gyokeres is unlikely to leave Arsenal this summer, and that there’s really very little prospect of him being involved in a swap deal with Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Jacobs is now reporting similar, but perhaps leaving it a bit more open that the Sweden international could depart the Emirates Stadium for the right price.

See below as Jacobs spoke to Latte Firm about a number of Arsenal transfers that we could see this summer, including a positive update on Morgan Rogers.

When asked specifically about Gyokeres, Jacobs said: “Viktor Gyokeres is a fascinating situation. He might be available on the market for the right price.

With Gyokeres, if it hit a certain number, Arsenal wouldn’t reject out of hand.

“I don’t think he’s for sale, but I don’t think he’s untouchable.”

Could Viktor Gyokeres leave Arsenal after just one season?

As already mentioned, our information as of today is that Arsenal are not looking to offload Gyokeres, and the former Sporting Lisbon man is also not pushing for an exit just a year after arriving.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Of course, the 28-year-old did have a slightly mixed first season with the Gunners, so it’s true in theory that he’d have his price, and that might not be crazy money.

At the same time, there are no talks taking place at the moment and it’s pretty much just noise, with both the club and the player on the same page in terms of preparing for pre-season and the 2026/27 campaign together.

Even if someone like Alvarez would likely be an upgrade, that deal also looks hugely ambitious at the moment, with Atletico Madrid not keen to sell and even complaining to FIFA about how Barcelona have approached the deal.

Gyokeres joined AFC during a tricky period in the strikers’ market, and the situation hasn’t really changed much since last year.

Further talks scheduled for Manchester City to complete stunning £130m transfer

Manchester City and Nottingham Forest are reportedly set for further talks over the transfer of Elliot Anderson in a potential £130m deal.

It looks like Man City are progressing on a deal for Anderson at last after previously seeing a £120m offer rejected by Forest.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

According to the Daily Mail, further negotiations are scheduled, which could see City complete a deal for Anderson for a record-breaking £130m.

The report states that this would eclipse the current record transfer fee in Britain, which Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last summer when he moved from Newcastle for £125m.

Manchester United had also been keen on Anderson, according to the Mail, but it looks like City are now making progress on an agreement.

Elliot Anderson transfer is expensive, but also the statement Manchester City need

After two years in a row without winning the Premier League title, and with the blow of legendary manager Pep Guardiola leaving at the end of the season, it makes sense that City are now ready to go all-out with a major statement signing like this.

Anderson is a world class player who has shown immense quality during his time at Forest, becoming a key player for the England national team as well.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Rodri is not getting any younger and has had injury problems, so it makes sense for City to spend top dollar to replace this hugely influential player.

Elliot Anderson can undergo medical at World Cup

An interesting detail in this saga is that Anderson is currently at the World Cup 2026 with England, but he may be able to have a medical with City anyway.

Speaking on Latte Firm, journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that England manager Thomas Tuchel has no issue with his players doing medicals during international duty, which is good news for Arsenal in pursuit of Morgan Rogers, but also for City as they chase Anderson.

Chelsea ready to step up bid to sign Arsenal transfer target

Chelsea are reportedly ready to step up their interest in a transfer move for Como centre-back and Arsenal target Jacobo Ramon.

We’ve previously reported on the Gunners eyeing up Ramon after his impressive form in Serie A, but there have also been plenty of other links with big clubs.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Liverpool have also been mentioned as suitors for Ramon in recent times, but for now it seems that Chelsea are doing their best to move to the front of the queue for his signature.

That’s according to TEAMtalk, who state that Chelsea are hoping to pounce amid uncertainty over the 21-year-old’s future.

Jacobo Ramon future to be resolved in next few days

Ramon started his career at Real Madrid and has shone at Como, though it seems there will soon be talks between the Spanish and Italian clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, these discussions could determine the young Spaniard’s future, and Chelsea will hope they can take advantage.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Chelsea have done well in recent times to lure some of the game’s biggest talents to Stamford Bridge, and Ramon certainly fits into that category.

Ramon has developed really well under Como manager Cesc Fabregas, and that also means there’s a slight Chelsea connection there that could in theory be useful.

Chelsea need a centre-back

CFC fans will hope this deal can work out as it could be an important one to strengthen their defence.

There will be justifiable question marks about the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Wesley Fofana after some unconvincing form for Chelsea in recent times.

Ramon may lack experience, but he looks like the kind of young player Chelsea should be signing, as he can make an impact both straight away and represent a good long-term investment for the club.

Boost for Arsenal as Thomas Tuchel won’t delay key stage of England star’s transfer

Arsenal have been given some hugely positive transfer news on Morgan Rogers, with the World Cup 2026 hopefully not an issue in delaying the deal.

Rogers is a top target for the Gunners but is currently at the World Cup with England, though Ben Jacobs reports that manager Thomas Tuchel has no issues with his players undergoing medicals whilst on international duty.

Speaking to Latte Firm, Jacobs provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Rogers, with some interesting information emerging about the Aston Villa star’s preferences.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

It seems Rogers is happy to play as either a winger or a number ten at his next club, with no strong preference either way, while Jacobs generally seems confident that the 23-year-old will be heading to the Emirates Stadium…

Ben Jacobs on Morgan Rogers to Arsenal transfer

“I do expect Arsenal to sign Morgan Rogers. He is Arsenal’s leading target for left-wing and/or #10,” Jacobs said.

“My information is that Rogers has zero preference as to whether he’s signed as a left-winger or a #10. Arsenal are expected to bid and this could move quickly.

“Remember Thomas Tuchel is perfectly happy for players to do medicals on England duty. That may be the case with Elliot Anderson and Manchester City. But Arsenal perhaps in less of a rush than Aston Villa.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

“Aston Villa, even with Champions League football, are looking for a major sale to balance their books. When Rogers extended last year, there was an understanding that he could leave this summer for a fee of £80m as a starting point.

“It’s not a release clause or gentleman’s understanding, but Villa had said they will not unduly stand in his way. I’m still told engagement will start at £80m, that’s not to say it’ll be the number that secures a transfer, but that is the beginning to start a conversation with Aston Villa. I think there’s a very strong chance this deal happens.”

World Cup won’t delay Morgan Rogers deal

Arsenal fans will also surely be pleased to hear that Rogers can have a medical even while he’s away at the World Cup.

The Premier League champions will no doubt want this major deal done as quickly as possible to avoid other clubs getting involved, with Rogers sure to be hot property after two outstanding seasons in a row at Villa Park.

The England international hit double figures for goals and assists again in the 2025/26 season, and it’s clear he could improve this Arsenal side in the one area they arguably struggled most in despite winning the title.

Mikel Arteta’s men sometimes struggled in the final third, and someone like Rogers should be able to add a bit more spark, as well as more of a goal threat than the inconsistent Martin Odegaard.

If AFC can get this done, it will be just the kind of signing that could take this team to another level next season, with Arteta’s side only narrowly missing out on the Champions League when they again just lacked a little bit of attacking quality in the final defeat to PSG.

Transfer meeting supposedly “leaked” as Man United work on signing 26-year-old

Manchester United reportedly had meetings in London yesterday to discuss a potential transfer deal for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The France international has been on Man United’s radar, as we reported, though it was also our understanding that a new contract at the Bernabeu probably looks more likely at the moment.

Things can change quickly in football, though, with the Telegraph recently claiming that Tchouameni was a firm target for the Red Devils, while a team of journalists on X are now saying secret talks have taken place and have been leaked.

“We have it on good authority that a high-level meeting took place yesterday in London between Manchester United officials and representatives of Aurélien Tchouaméni. We don’t know if this meeting was supposed to be kept secret, but it has been leaked,” the reporter posted.

Aurelien Tchouameni could fix Manchester United’s midfield

Tchouameni is a top player on his day, and even if he’s not proven in the Premier League, he’s been consistent and reliable at the highest level with both Real Madrid and the French national team.

With Casemiro leaving at the end of his contract this summer, a new defensive midfield player like this makes sense as a priority for United, so it will be interesting to see if these talks amount to anything.

There’ll likely be a lot of MUFC fans hoping these latest links are accurate, and we’d certainly give this potential deal a high score with our Transfer Fit rating system – find out more about how we score these here.

Talks back on for Chelsea to sanction potential £120m transfer

Talks are reportedly back on over Chelsea potentially selling Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid, though the deal is expected to cost at least £120m.

Kinsella posted: “Real Madrid talks are also back on for Enzo Fernandez. Last price quoted by Chelsea was £120m but personal terms with the Argentine midfielder’s entourage have never been an issue and he is keen on the move.”

This could mean another major Chelsea sale to Los Blancos this summer, following Marc Cucurella’s recent move to the Spanish capital.

More Chelsea exits on the cards after nightmare season?

In truth, Chelsea can’t be too surprised to see Cucurella leaving and Fernandez looking to follow, while there’s also been talk of Malo Gusto exploring an exit, as per another BBC Sport report.

This sort of exodus of big names is pretty inevitable after a dire season in which Chelsea finished all the way down in 10th in the Premier League table, missing out on European football, and also failing to win any silverware.

Fernandez may not have always been the most consistent performer for CFC, but he’s good enough that he’ll probably feel he can go on and shine for a more competitive side.

The 25-year-old could do well in the Real Madrid midfield, perhaps providing them with an upgrade on the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea also lose other stars and perhaps struggle to bring in the calibre of player required to adequately replace them.

Sources: What I’m hearing today on two major Arsenal transfer stories

I’m aware that some very good sources have been reporting on Arsenal and their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, but it would be wise for some Gooners not to get their hopes up.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Despite talk of Viktor Gyokeres potentially heading to Atletico Madrid as part of the deal to bring the Alvarez fee down, we’re currently a long, long way away from that sort of agreement.

Swap deals are rare in football and even if these two deals were negotiated separately, there are some important factors to consider here.

As per multiple sources, I can reveal the following on the Alvarez to Arsenal saga

  • Alvarez has told his agent he only wants to join Barcelona. Perhaps things could change, but he’s not currently engaged in any kind of talks with Arsenal.
  • Although a deal with Barca is tricky due to Atletico not wanting to sell to a rival, and potentially also reporting the Catalan giants to FIFA, that doesn’t necessarily boost Arsenal.
  • Arsenal and Mikel Arteta like Alvarez a lot, but the deal is likely to be unaffordable, and things won’t progress if the player isn’t that sold on joining.
  • One very reliable source was also surprised at the Gyokeres talk, saying quite firmly: “I don’t see Gyokeres leaving – he’s happy at Arsenal and they’re happy with him.”

Could Arsenal explore alternatives to Julian Alvarez?

I’m sure Alvarez is a signing Arsenal would love to do if possible, but for now the clear signal I’m getting is that it’s really unlikely. I will of course keep you posted if things change, but I understand work has been done on alternatives.

AFC have monitored Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi closely, so he could be another one to watch for the striker position, though an attacking midfielder like Morgan Rogers is more of a priority, with Bradley Barcola also being considered.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

I can also confirm that there’s no truth to the Mason Greenwood links. Arsenal do not have the former Manchester United forward on their list, even if he is expected to leave Marseille this summer.

If Greenwood does leave, he’ll most likely head to Italy, with Roma showing an interest alongside other Serie A clubs. Many people I’ve spoken to at Premier League clubs insist they won’t go anywhere near him, though.

We could see another big name leaving Chelsea this summer as Malo Gusto seems to be exploring a transfer exit.

Marc Cucurella has already departed Stamford Bridge for a move to Real Madrid, and it looks like Gusto has discussed a possible switch to Manchester City.

That’s according to BBC Sport, who state that the France international would likely command a fee of around £75m if he were to leave.

Man City are expected to announce former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca as their replacement for Pep Guardiola, so it could be that the Italian tactician will quickly be reunited with one of his former players in Gusto.

Gusto has mostly been a pretty solid performer for Chelsea, but if they were able to raise £75m from selling the 23-year-old then that would represent a significant profit and pretty smart business overall.

Chelsea can afford to take a gamble on Malo Gusto transfer

Even if Gusto leaving would be a bit of a blow, it seems CFC are preparing for this by targeting talented young Italian right-back Marco Palestra as his replacement.

Palestra has been strongly linked with Chelsea by the Athletic and others, and could even have the potential to be better than Gusto before too long.

In the mean time, Chelsea also have Reece James for that position, so cashing in on Gusto might be worth it, even if there’s a risk that he goes on to enjoy his peak years for a major rival.

Man City looking for more specialist right-back?

City’s pursuit of Gusto is interesting as it suggests they’re keen to try something different in that position despite the fine form of Matheus Nunes.

Nunes started out in midfield before adapting well to playing right-back under Guardiola, but Gusto is more of a natural specialist in that role.

Still, £75m is also a lot of money to pay when City don’t exactly look like they need to make that position a priority this summer.

Positive talks held: Chelsea pounce for opportunity to discuss 18 G/A wide-man transfer

Chelsea have reportedly recently had positive talks over a potential transfer for Sporting Lisbon wide-man Maxi Araujo.

According to Simon Phillips, this came due to Sporting asking Chelsea about Pedro Neto, who was a target for them, but who has no interest in the move.

So although any prospect of Neto joining Sporting seems to be off the table, it does at least mean that Chelsea used the opportunity to also hold talks over Araujo.

Phillips states that this did lead to some positive conversations, so it will be interesting to see what this means for the Blues and a possible deal for the Uruguay international.

Araujo can play left-back or wing-back to a high standard, and even as a left-sided midfielder if need be, with the 24-year-old on a run of 11 goals and seven assists in all competitions for club and country this season.

Maxi Araujo looks a good fit for Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea

Araujo has impressed with Sporting and looks like the ideal candidate to come in and play wing-back in Xabi Alonso’s new-look Chelsea side next season.

Alonso is known for his use of three at the back and attack-minded wing-backs, with this tactical set-up delivering him a lot of success at former club Bayer Leverkusen.

It’s not a system we’ve seen a lot of in English football, but Chelsea could do well to adjust their playing style next season and make the kind of signings to fit that system.

Alonso will likely be keen on players like Araujo or similar, so it will be interesting to see if this particular deal ends up going anywhere more concrete.

Maxi Araujo to replace Marc Cucurella?

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

CFC also need a signing at left-back anyway after the recent sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid.

Some Chelsea fans will no doubt be disappointed by the decision to sell the Spain international after his strong form for the club last season, but perhaps they can actually do better in that position.

Cucurella had some issues with consistency during his time at Stamford Bridge, and Araujo is a younger player who arguably looks like he has a higher ceiling than Cucurella.

THFC probably needed to make some changes in goal this summer, but the main story will be who they decide to bring in as their new number one.

Vicario has clearly struggled in that role, so it makes sense to offload him, but for now it looks like there’s nothing advancing on a new first-choice ‘keeper.

Dubravka has plenty of experience, though, so seems like a safe option to step in as a backup when required.

The Slovakian has played for Newcastle and Manchester United as well as Burnley in the Premier League.

Liverpool have to deal with Newcastle competition for Ligue 1 sensation

Liverpool and Newcastle United could be heading for another transfer battle, with both clubs reportedly interested in Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

According to the Daily Mail, the 21-year-old has appeared on Liverpool’s radar as a possible alternative to RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, whose valuation has climbed to around €120m.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Newcastle are also keen, having already made contact over the Belgium forward as they search for attacking reinforcements.

Fernandez-Pardo impressed in Ligue 1 last season, directly contributing to 13 goals in 29 league appearances.

That kind of production, combined with his age and versatility, makes him an obvious target for clubs looking for long-term attacking upside.

Liverpool keeping backup plan ready

Liverpool’s first-choice attacking targets remain expensive.

Diomande is highly rated after his World Cup performances for Ivory Coast, but Leipzig’s asking price is huge.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

The Reds are also monitoring PSG winger Bradley Barcola, though that deal would also be difficult.

That is why Fernandez-Pardo makes sense. He would be cheaper than Diomande, still has major development potential, and could give Andoni Iraola another quick, technical forward for his high-intensity system.

Liverpool have already beaten Newcastle to one attacking signing this summer, landing Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna for around €40m.

That makes this new race even more interesting.

Newcastle need Gordon replacement plan

For Newcastle, the need is also clear. Anthony Gordon left the club to join Barcelona and the Magpies are searching for wide players who can replace his pace and directness.

Newcastle are also tracking Köln winger Said El Mala, who has attracted interest from Brighton and Brentford.

But Fernandez-Pardo looks like one of the more advanced names on their list because contact has already been made.

Liverpool and Newcastle are both watching closely. If Liverpool fail to land their top targets, they could quickly move for Fernandez-Pardo and Newcastle may need to act fast to avoid losing another winger race to the Reds.

The talented young West Ham midfielder is surely going to be on the move this summer after his club’s relegation to the Championship, and it seems there are now two main contenders for his signature.

Posting on X this morning, Romano explained that the “clear feeling” now is that West Ham will end up selling Fernandes to whoever offers the most money.

As per the post below, Romano has indicated that it’s now down to Man Utd and Spurs to come up with that money as the player has opened his doors to either club…

Mateus Fernandes to Manchester United or Tottenham?

Looking at those two options, it’s surely got to be United for Fernandes as he makes an important choice at this early stage of his career.

Even if it might be tempting to stay in London and to join a team where there’d be less pressure and more guaranteed playing time, Tottenham have been a mess in the last two years.

After back-to-back 17th place finishes, Spurs need to undergo a major rebuilding job, so from their point of view a signing like Fernandes could be ideal.

However, the 21-year-old would surely do much better to choose Old Trafford as his next destination.

United have improved a great deal under Michael Carrick, finishing third in the Premier League in 2025/26, securing Champions League football for next season.

Fernandes could also have a key role there as MUFC need to make changes in midfield after losing Casemiro at the end of his contract, while Manuel Ugarte could surely leave after falling out of favour.

Football Insider have linked Fernandes with Liverpool, while Romano has also previously mentioned Real Madrid, so it could be that we’ll see other clubs come back into the conversation soon, even if for now it looks like it’s a two-club race between United and Tottenham.

Insider shuts down reports of Bayern interest in outgoing Tottenham player

Tottenham Hotspur have received clarity over Lucas Bergvall’s situation after Christian Falk firmly denied suggestions that Bayern Munich are monitoring the Swedish midfielder.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a possible move away from Spurs this summer, with reports claiming he wants more regular football after a frustrating campaign.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That led to speculation about Bayern entering the race, but Falk has made it clear that the German champions are not currently following the player.

Writing in his latest update, Falk said the Bayern rumours are “not true” and added that he has received a clear signal from the club that they are not interested in the Sweden international at this stage.

He also described Bergvall as an interesting player, but not someone Bayern are pursuing right now.

Tottenham still face a decision

That denial does not completely end the wider transfer story.

Bergvall’s future remains uncertain, with Evening Standard reporting that Chelsea are not currently planning a move despite previous interest.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

The Sun has also reported that the midfielder has asked to leave Spurs due to limited game time.

Tottenham are believed to value him highly and would not want to lose a player with such long-term potential cheaply.

The club reportedly want around £45m if they do decide to sell.

Rumours show his reputation is growing

From Tottenham’s point of view, the Bayern denial is helpful.

It removes one major European name from the conversation and gives Spurs more control over the situation.

However, the interest and speculation around Bergvall still show how highly he is rated.

He is young, technically gifted and capable of playing in several midfield roles, which makes him attractive to clubs looking for future upside.

Bayern are not interested, according to Falk. But Tottenham still need to decide whether Bergvall has a proper role under Roberto De Zerbi or whether a summer exit becomes the best solution for everyone.

Expert provides Michael Olise transfer update amid Man City & Real Madrid links

Transfer news expert Christian Falk has played down Manchester City and Real Madrid transfer links with Michael Olise as Bayern Munich don’t want to sell.

The France international, currently with his country at the 2026 World Cup, has been the subject of plenty of speculation recently after a superb season for Bayern.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

Olise finished the 2025/26 campaign with 22 goals and 25 assists in all competitions for his club, so it’s easy to see why the likes of City and Real would be interested.

Still, Falk has provided an update on the situation in his latest CF Bayern Insider column, explaining that Bayern don’t want to sell and are not currently under any pressure to do so due to the player’s contract.

Christian Falk on Michael Olise transfer talk

“It is TRUE: Real Madrid would like to have Michael Olise. But it’s not true that they have any kind of chance of signing the Frenchman this summer,” Falk explained.

Falk added that there have not been any contacts between the Bayern and Madrid presidents, and there’s really no chance of this move happening this summer, even for crazy money.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

When asked about Man City’s interest in the former Crystal Palace winger, Falk again focused on his future with Bayern and the possibility of signing a huge new contract at the Allianz Arena.

“The main thing on Olise will be whether or not he signs a new contract with FC Bayern,” Falk said.

“Bayern Munich knows that time will keep running if he doesn’t put pen to paper on new terms. So, there will be a day when they have to talk and decide to potentially sell him a year before his contract runs out. They’d have to be able to bring in money to sign a potential successor.

“At the moment, the contract is running long enough to not worry about it at this point in time. The wide man is playing very well at Bayern Munich and he’s on a five-year contract, so the club still has time to convince him to sign a new contract.”

Michael Olise to return to the Premier League?

It would undoubtedly be exciting to see Olise back in the Premier League after he previously impressed as a youngster at Palace.

There’s no doubt, however, that he’s taken his game to another level at Bayern, so he could now come back to England and immediately become one of the most important players at a big club like City.

Following the blow of Pep Guardiola stepping down as manager, City could do with a statement signing like this to breathe new life into their attack and to help get the best out of Erling Haaland.

Talks this week: Chelsea look ready to rival Arsenal for transfer of midfield gem

Chelsea are reportedly ready to rival Arsenal for the potential transfer of Lille midfield wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi, according to Simon Phillips.

The Blues are looking at a few different options in midfield, with Phillips noting that they’re also keen on another elite young talent in the form of AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit.

Still, it seems Bouaddi has been discussed at Chelsea this week as the recruitment team clearly identify the Morocco international as one of their preferred targets.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Arsenal are also understood to be targeting Bouaddi strongly, as per our recent information from sources, so this could be an intriguing battle for the 18-year-old’s signature.

Should Ayyoub Bouaddi choose Arsenal or Chelsea?

Bouaddi has to be careful when making a decision about his future, as he won’t want to make the wrong move and derail this strong start to his career.

The talented teenager has really impressed in Ligue 1 and continues to shine for his country at the World Cup 2026, so he needs to keep this momentum going.

Bouaddi may well look at Chelsea as a decent option for his development, as the Blues have made it clear under their current ownership that trusting and developing young players is a priority.

That should mean Bouaddi gets a good guarantee of playing time at Stamford Bridge, but it could also come with some risks.

Would Arsenal be the best bet for Ayyoub Bouaddi?

Bouaddi would undoubtedly be stepping into a less chaotic club if he chose Arsenal, who have just won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.

Mikel Arteta has done a superb job and would probably also be able to give Bouaddi a lot of playing time, whilst also ensuring he’s in a competitive project without the instability of frequent player and manager changes that have been associated with Chelsea in the last few years.

Still, there’s also no doubt that Bouaddi would face a bit more competition at the Emirates Stadium due to the presence of top midfielders like Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Contract talks stalled: Arsenal and Liverpool on alert as Frenchman faces uncertain future

Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a potential transfer boost, with Paris Saint-Germain’s contract talks with Bradley Barcola reportedly on standby.

According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between PSG and the French winger are not currently advancing.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That has made his situation one to watch closely this summer, especially with the 23-year-old set to enter the final two years of his contract next month.

For PSG, that is not an immediate crisis, but it does create pressure.

A player with two years left on his deal still holds strong value, but if renewal talks continue to stall, interested clubs will sense an opportunity.

Why Arsenal and Liverpool are interested

Arsenal and Liverpool are both understood to be near the front of the queue if Barcola becomes available.

TEAMtalk reported that Liverpool have long admired the winger, while Arsenal have also been named among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

For Liverpool, the interest makes clear sense. The Reds are searching for another elite wide player as part of their attacking rebuild, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande also on their list.

Barcola would bring pace, direct running and Champions League experience.

Arsenal’s interest is just as understandable. Mikel Arteta wants more depth and quality out wide, especially if there are changes involving players like Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli.

Barcola would give the Gunners another explosive left-sided option who can also develop further.

PSG still hold power over Barcola’s future

The biggest issue is PSG’s stance. They are not desperate sellers, and Barcola remains a valuable part of their squad.

However, his game time has been affected by competition from players such as Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué.

This is exactly the type of situation Arsenal and Liverpool should monitor closely rather than rush.

If PSG open the door, the deal will not be cheap, but Barcola has the profile to become a major Premier League star.

No move is advanced, but stalled talks have made this transfer race much more interesting.

Newcastle United face Liverpool threat as young winger race starts to heat up

Newcastle United are reportedly looking at two exciting young wide players as they try to strengthen their attack this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are interested in Cologne winger Said El Mala and have also made contact over Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Both players fit the profile Newcastle appear to be targeting: young, quick, technically sharp and capable of developing into high-level Premier League attackers.

The Magpies need fresh attacking options after missing out on Victor Muñoz, who eventually chose Liverpool.

That setback seems to have pushed Newcastle into exploring alternative targets quickly, and Fernandez-Pardo has already been mentioned as a possible option by Get French Football News.

Liverpool waiting in the background

The problem for Newcastle is Liverpool.

The Reds are also watching the market closely and could turn to the same names if they fail to land RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande or PSG forward Bradley Barcola.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Liverpool have already made a strong push for Diomande, with The Times reporting that they are willing to pay around £86m.

However, Leipzig are believed to want closer to £112m, while PSG’s interest has made the race even more complicated.

That is why players like El Mala and Fernandez-Pardo matter. They are not just random backup names.

They are part of a wider winger shortlist Liverpool have built in case their top targets prove too expensive or unavailable.

Newcastle United must move quickly

For Newcastle, speed could be key.

If Liverpool remain focused on Diomande and Barcola, Newcastle may have a window to move first for El Mala or Fernandez-Pardo.

But if Liverpool miss out on their main targets, the Magpies could suddenly face a much tougher battle.

Newcastle should not wait too long. Both players represent smart, high-upside signings, but Liverpool’s presence in the background makes the situation dangerous.

Newcastle are active, Liverpool are watching, and the race for young attacking talent could move quickly.

Romano confirms ‘Here we go’ as Chelsea hijack move to sign Serie A wing-back

Chelsea have pulled off a major transfer hijack, with Marco Palestra now set to join the club from Atalanta after a verbal agreement was reached between all parties.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have agreed a package worth more than €55m, including a sell-on clause, for the Italian right-wing-back.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

The 21-year-old is expected to sign a long-term contract, giving Xabi Alonso another exciting young player to build around.

This is a bold move from Chelsea because Inter Milan had been pushing strongly for Palestra.

Reports in Italy suggested Inter were close to a deal, but Chelsea stepped in quickly and offered Atalanta a stronger package.

Chelsea joined the race late and hijacked the move

Palestra is viewed as one of the most exciting young defenders in Italy.

He impressed last season on loan at Cagliari, where he played regularly, contributed one goal and four assists in Serie A, and earned senior Italy recognition.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

talkSPORT reports that Chelsea doubled Inter’s contract offer to the player, while The Times says the Blues are set to pay around £47.5m for the defender.

For Alonso, the attraction is obvious. Palestra can play as a right wing-back and is also comfortable on the opposite side, giving Chelsea tactical flexibility in a system that could rely heavily on width and attacking full-backs.

A sign of plans under Xabi Alonso

This signing also raises questions about the current full-back group.

Reece James remains a major figure, but Chelsea need reliable depth, while Malo Gusto has been linked with Manchester City.

This deal is expensive but understandable. The Blues are not just buying a backup, they are buying a player they believe can grow into one of Europe’s best wing-backs.

The deal is not officially announced, but Romano’s “here we go” makes it clear: Chelsea have beaten Inter to one of Italy’s most promising defensive talents.

Just in: Aston Villa target move for Premier League captain as Emery eyes experience

Aston Villa are reportedly showing strong interest in West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen as Unai Emery looks to add more proven Premier League quality to his attack this summer.

According to The Athletic, Villa admire the 29-year-old England international, but a deal is currently viewed as difficult unless the Midlands club make player sales first.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That is the key detail in this story. Villa clearly want to be ambitious, but they also need to manage their squad and finances carefully before moving for an expensive, established player.

Bowen would be a serious statement signing. He is experienced, left-footed, productive and capable of playing wide or through the middle.

For a Villa side trying to compete near the top end of the Premier League again, that type of reliability is extremely valuable.

West Ham will not make it easy

West Ham are not expected to roll over in negotiations.

Bowen is their captain, remains under a long-term contract and has not yet decided whether he would be open to leaving.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Reports have suggested talks could start at around £50m, but West Ham sources have indicated they are not actively looking to sell.

That makes the deal complicated for Villa. Bowen is exactly the sort of attacker Emery would love, hard-working, direct, intelligent and proven in big moments but he would not come cheap.

Player sales could decide everything for Aston Villa

Villa’s interest also tells us something about their summer strategy.

They want ready-made quality, not just young prospects. However, before they can seriously push for Bowen, they may need to move on players to create room financially and in the squad.

Bowen would be a very smart signing for Villa if they can make the numbers work.

He may not be a flashy gamble, but he would immediately improve their attack and bring leadership.

Villa’s interest is strong, but no agreement is close. This is one to watch if sales happen at Villa Park.

Newcastle United interest in 22-year-old suggests Sandro Tonali could be heading out

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to move quickly for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as uncertainty continues around Sandro Tonali’s future.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle have been tracking the 22-year-old Senegal international and see him as a potential replacement if Tonali leaves St James’ Park this summer.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

That makes sense, especially with Tottenham Hotspur continuing to show strong interest in the Italy international.

Tonali has become one of the biggest midfield names on the market, and The Guardian recently reported that Spurs are pursuing him as part of Roberto De Zerbi’s ambitious rebuild.

Newcastle do not want to lose a key player, but if a huge offer arrives, they clearly need a plan ready.

Why Camara fits Newcastle

Camara would be a very interesting replacement. He is energetic, aggressive without the ball and comfortable progressing play from midfield.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

At Monaco, he has developed into one of the more exciting young midfielders in Ligue 1, and his World Cup involvement with Senegal has only raised his profile further.

The midfielder has started Senegal’s first two group games at the tournament, which shows his importance at international level.

Any deal is unlikely to be completed until after the World Cup, but Newcastle’s early planning could prove important if other clubs start circling.

Tonali decision could shape everything for Newcastle United

This situation depends heavily on Tonali.

Tottenham are reportedly pushing, but Newcastle will not want to look weak in negotiations.

If they sell, the fee would have to be huge, and part of that money could be used to refresh the  midfield.

Newcastle’s interest in Camara is smart. He would not be a like-for-like replacement for Tonali, but he offers energy, upside and resale value.

Nothing is advanced yet. But Newcastle are watching closely, and Camara looks like one of the names they could move for if their midfield plans suddenly change.

Sources: Diomande price tag forces Liverpool to consider move for Premier League winger

Liverpool are being forced to think carefully about their next attacking move, with RB Leipzig reportedly opening the door to selling Yan Diomande only if a huge offer of around €130m arrives.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger remains one of Liverpool’s top targets, but Leipzig’s valuation has made the deal extremely difficult, sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside.

DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL CAUGHTOFFSIDE APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES – STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ON APPLE & GOOGLE PLAY

The Reds have already prepared alternatives in case they cannot break Leipzig’s stance.

That makes sense. Andoni Iraola wants more pace, pressing intensity and one-v-one threat in Liverpool’s attack, especially as the club continue to reshape their forward line.

Diomande fits that profile, but paying €130m for a teenager would be a massive call, even for a club looking to make a statement.

Minteh could become first alternative for Liverpool

If Liverpool decide Leipzig’s price is too high, Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh is expected to become one of the first names they move for.

A budget of around £40m has been allocated for the 21-year-old.

Want more CaughtOffside coverage? Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list for news you can trust

Minteh would be a very Iraola-style signing. He is quick, direct and aggressive without the ball, which makes him well suited to a high-energy pressing system.

He may not have Diomande’s superstar valuation, but he could offer better value and still has plenty of room to develop.

Barcola remains a major option for the Reds

Bradley Barcola is another strong name on Liverpool’s list.

His contract talks with Paris Saint-Germain have stalled, and TEAMtalk has reported that Liverpool and Arsenal are both monitoring the situation.

There is also an interesting domino effect. If PSG beat Liverpool to Diomande, they may become more open to selling Barcola to balance the squad and finances.

Liverpool could then test the water with a bid of around £80m.

West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville, Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Köln talent Said El Mala are also on the Reds’ wider radar.

Liverpool still want a dynamic winger, but their strategy looks flexible. Diomande is the dream, but the backup list is already taking shape.

Report: Chelsea step back from Tottenham midfield raid as transfer priorities shift

Chelsea are not currently planning a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall, despite previous links with the young Swedish talent.

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea explored the possibility of signing Bergvall in January, but Spurs blocked any chance of a deal at the time.

Now, even with the player’s future at Tottenham looking uncertain, the Blues are not expected to make a fresh approach.

That is an interesting decision because Bergvall clearly fits the type of profile Chelsea usually like.

He is young, technically gifted, versatile and capable of playing in different midfield roles. However, Chelsea’s recruitment plans appear to be focused elsewhere.

Tottenham situation still uncertain

Bergvall’s future has become a talking point after reports claimed he wants to leave Tottenham this summer.

Evening Standard has reported that Spurs would want around £45m if they decide to sell him.

That is a big fee for a 20-year-old midfielder who still needs regular football to develop. For the Blues, that may be one reason why a move is not currently on the table.

The club already have several young midfielders and must be careful not to overload the squad with similar profiles.

Chelsea looking at other areas

Under Xabi Alonso, Chelsea are expected to strengthen in more urgent positions.

Defensive reinforcements and wide options appear to be higher on the list, while midfield movement may depend on exits.

Chelsea stepping away makes sense. Bergvall is talented, but Spurs would not make the deal easy, and Chelsea already have enough young players who need minutes.

There is no active Chelsea move for the Spurs midfielder. The situation could change later in the window, but for now, this looks more like a monitored opportunity than a serious transfer pursuit.

Arsenal target ambitous move for flamboyant winger compared to Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on FC Midtjylland winger Darío Osorio as Mikel Arteta continues to look for attacking depth ahead of the new season.

According to The Standard, Arsenal have long-standing interest in the Chile international, who has impressed in Denmark and is now being viewed as a player ready for a bigger stage.

Bournemouth have also been linked, which suggests Premier League clubs are beginning to take his development seriously.

Osorio is still only 22, but he already has senior international experience with Chile and has built a reputation as a direct, powerful and technically sharp winger.

He has even been compared stylistically to former Arsenal star Alexis Sánchez, mainly because of his left-footed threat, intensity and ability to attack defenders aggressively.

Why Arsenal are watching him

For Arsenal, this kind of profile makes sense.

Arteta already has elite attacking options, but the Gunners need more squad depth if they want to compete again for the Premier League and Champions League.

Osorio would not arrive as a guaranteed starter. Instead, he would be a development signing with upside, the kind of player Arsenal could shape into a useful rotation option.

His pace, dribbling and ability to play from the right would give the squad another different attacking weapon.

talkSPORT previously reported that Osorio had attracted Premier League attention after a strong season, noting his speed, dribbling numbers and goal contributions for Midtjylland.

Midtjylland may be ready to sell

The key point is that Midtjylland could now be open to cashing in.

The Danish club have developed Osorio well since signing him from Universidad de Chile, and this summer may be the right moment for a sale if a serious offer arrives.

This would be a smart market move for Arsenal if the price is reasonable.

Big-money deals will dominate the headlines, but successful squads are also built through clever signings before they explode in value.

Arsenal’s interest is one to watch, especially if they decide to add a young winger with Premier League potential.

Real Madrid make €200m plan to sign Premier League star shining at the World Cup

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on their radar as the club prepare for a potentially huge decision over Vinícius Júnior’s future.

According to Sport, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has identified Haaland as a possible superstar signing if Vinícius ends up leaving the Bernabéu.

The Brazilian winger is entering the final year of his contract next week, which naturally creates pressure around his future.

Madrid do not appear to be actively pushing Vinícius out, but they are clearly preparing for every scenario.

If renewal talks do not progress, the club may have to decide whether to risk losing value or cash in and rebuild the attack around another global star.

Haaland’s World Cup form increases interest

Haaland’s name being linked with Madrid is not surprising.

The 25-year-old remains one of the best goalscorers in world football, and his World Cup form has only added to the noise.

The Norway striker has scored four goals in his first two matches, including another two-goal display in the 3-2 win over Senegal.

Reuters reported that his double helped Norway reach the last 32 for the first time in 28 years.

The problem for Real Madrid is obvious: Man City have him tied down until 2033.

That means any transfer would likely cost more than €200m, making it one of the biggest deals in football history.

Olise remains another option for Real Madrid

Madrid are also still monitoring Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise and could return for him after the World Cup.

He would be a different type of signing, more of a creative wide player than a pure finisher but he also fits Pérez’s desire to bring elite attacking talent to Spain.

This feels like contingency planning rather than an active negotiation.

But if Vinícius’ contract situation becomes complicated, Madrid may be forced into a major attacking decision.

Saudi club make surprise bid for Arsenal star with 36 goals & 34 assists

Saudi club Al-Diraiyah have made an offer of £17.2m to sign Leandro Trossard.

The ambitious, newly-promoted Saudi Pro League outfit is looking to mark its arrival in the top flight by securing high-profile talent directly from the upper echelons of European football.

Arsenal receive offer from Saudi for Leandro Trossard

According to a report from Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg, Al-Diraiyah have officially tabled a £17.2 million proposal to purchase the 31-year-old winger.

In addition to providing a respectable package to the Gunners, the Middle Eastern club is pulling out all the financial stops to convince the player himself.

They are reportedly prepared to hand the veteran attacker a staggering salary package worth £8.6 million per year (approximately €10 million net) to spearhead their project in Saudi Arabia.

The Belgium international has been a massively reliable and key asset for Mikel Arteta’s side since completing his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion three years ago.

Trossard’s versatility and knack for scoring crucial goals off the bench helped anchor Arsenal’s competitive domestic campaigns and their deep continental runs.

However, despite earning a deserved pay rise at the Emirates Stadium last summer, his contract was crucially not renewed beyond its original June 2027 expiry date.

Trossard expected to leave Arsenal this summer

With Trossard quickly approaching his 32nd birthday in December and entering the final phase of his contract, the hierarchy in North London faces a crucial decision.

It now looks increasingly likely that Arsenal will choose to cash in on his services this window.

Letting him go now allows the Premier League club to completely recoup the majority of the fee they originally paid to Brighton in January 2023.

Since joining the Gunners, the Belgian has scored 36 goals and assisted another 34 in 174 games across all competitions.

Arsenal looking to bring in new attacker

Moving Trossard off the books provides essential fiscal breathing room as Arteta looks to overhaul and younger his attacking flanks with fresh profiles.

While Trossard is currently focusing on his international duties with Belgium, the immense financial allure of the Saudi offer means a momentous decision about his future looms immediately on the horizon.

Arsenal are linked with signing an attacker, with Julian Alvarez one of the reported targets for the club.

Alvarez wants to leave Atletico and the Spanish club might be considering striking a player-plus-cash deal involving Viktor Gyokeres as per reports in Spain.

However, Alvarez has eyes set on a move to Barcelona who are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

David Ornstein shares concerning Declan Rice update after England vs Ghana

David Ornstein shares Declan Rice injury concern

According to a report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Rice raised immediate alarms when walking through the media mixed zone at Boston Stadium.

The 27-year-old was spotted with his left calf heavily wrapped in medical strapping and possessed a very noticeable limp as he made his way past reporters.

At this stage, the exact severity of the injury remains entirely unclear. The medical staff will undoubtedly assess the midfielder over the coming hours to determine whether he has suffered a minor impact knock or a more concerning muscle strain.

The timing is particularly stressful for England, given their rapid turnaround time. The Three Lions are scheduled to face Panama in New Jersey this upcoming Saturday for their final, decisive Group L encounter, leaving Rice very little recovery time to prove his fitness.

Rice is key player for Thomas Tuchel’s side

The injury scare presents a massive tactical headache for England manager Thomas Tuchel. Rice is an indispensable pillar of strength for this team, seamlessly anchoring the midfield transition as demonstrated during England’s opening World Cup victory over Croatia.

After failing to break down a defensively stubborn Ghana team in a frustrating 0-0 stalemate, the Three Lions still need a positive result against Panama to safely guarantee their spot in the World Cup knockout rounds.

Losing a player of Rice’s defensive caliber and positional awareness would be a devastating blow to Tuchel’s tactical game plan.

Tottenham in advanced talks to sign yet another experienced Premier League player on free transfer

Spurs closing in on Martin Dubravka signing

The 37-year-old former Newcastle United shot-stopper has spent recent campaigns at Turf Moor and was a prominent figure for Burnley, starting 35 matches for the Clarets despite their eventual relegation from the Premier League.

With his current contract set to expire in a week’s time on June 30, Dubravka is available on a free transfer.

He has emerged as the priority choice at the top of Tottenham’s short-listed goalkeeper targets, representing what would be a savvy, zero-cost addition to the squad.

The Slovakia international’s imminent arrival is designed to inject vital top-flight experience and maturity into the Spurs goalkeeping department.

Guglielmo Vicario is tipped to leave the club, with Inter Milan showing strong interest in the Italian.

Dubravka’s arrival on a free transfer allows the club to bring in a experienced reinforcement while allocating their primary financial resources toward restructuring other areas of De Zerbi’s tactical system.

Dubravka has vast Premier League experience

In securing Dubravka, Tottenham are gaining a proven veteran with nearly a decade of experience at the highest level of English football.

Beyond his recent 35-match campaign with Burnley, the Slovakian spent six highly successful years at Newcastle United, where he made over 130 top-flight appearances, won the club’s Player of the Year award, and helped guide them through intense top-flight battles.

He also enjoyed a brief spell at Manchester United, providing him with a deep understanding of the pressures associated with playing for a “Big Six” club.

Antonin Kinsky expected to keep starting place under De Zerbi

While Dubravka brings an extensive Premier League resume, he is arriving firmly in a secondary role.

Young Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is fully expected to maintain his position as Tottenham’s starting number one.

Despite a horror Champions League debut vs Atletico Madrid, the 23-year-old took over the mantle in the latter half of the campaign and finished the season in stellar fashion, earning rave reviews and a nomination for the Premier League Save of the Season.

Kinsky’s exceptional individual performances were crucial in helping navigating Spurs through an incredibly turbulent period, proving his long-term potential to the hierarchy.

Signing a proven, reliable veteran like Dubravka will give Kinsky the safety net and mentorship needed to completely establish himself, locking down the position while securing the club’s defensive depth.

Report: Spurs move ahead of Manchester United in race for £85m midfield star after ‘positive’ talks

Tottenham step up Mateus Fernandes pursuit with £85m West Ham talks

Tottenham have stepped up negotiations with West Ham over a deal worth around £85 million for the highly rated Portuguese midfielder.

De Zerbi is understood to be a strong admirer of the 21-year-old and sees him as a key tactical fit for his high-intensity, possession-based system in North London.

Following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, the club are under pressure to generate significant funds, but remain firm on their valuation structure.

The Hammers are insisting that a large portion of any fee must be paid upfront before agreeing to sanction a sale.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have responded with a more aggressive financial package, including improved wages to position themselves ahead of rival clubs.

Fernandes is believed to be open to the move, with sources suggesting he is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work under De Zerbi.

Manchester United and Liverpool also tracking Mateus Fernandes transfer situation

Tottenham are not alone in their interest, with Manchester United and Liverpool both linked with the player.

United have placed him high in their target list, although, the report claims that they may not be willing to enter a bidding war at that price.

There are also reports claiming that Liverpool too have initiated contact over a potential move.

Fernandes enjoyed a standout season despite West Ham’s struggles, making 39 appearances and contributing five goals and five assists, underlining his growing influence at the top level.

Mateus Fernandes prefers London stay as Tottenham gain transfer advantage

A key factor in Tottenham’s favour is Fernandes loving his life in London after settling into English football following his £38m move from Southampton in 2025.

That personal preference, combined with Tottenham’s financial strength and project under De Zerbi, places Spurs in a strong position to complete one of the most ambitious midfield signings of the summer.

Watch: Jude Bellingham involved in heated bust-up with Ghana manager during England World Cup clash

Jude Bellingham was involved in a heated half-time confrontation with Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz during England’s second World Cup match at Boston Stadium, as frustrations boiled over following a difficult opening 45 minutes against the resolute Black Stars.

The Three Lions had endured a frustrating first period, unable to break down Ghana’s organised defensive block on the back of their impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia, and tensions spilled into the tunnel at the interval.

Bellingham, 22, was seen exchanging words with the veteran Portuguese manager, with both player and coach having to be held back by those around them.

Morgan Rogers, Bellingham’s close friend and rival for the England No.10 shirt, stepped in to restrain his team-mate.

Bellingham clashes with Ghana manager at half-time

Photographers captured Queiroz, 73, appearing to shout at Bellingham in the immediate aftermath of the half-time whistle, and an expert lip reader has since revealed what was said.

Nicola Hickling, Expert Analyst and Professional Lip Reader at Covers.com, as reported by Daily Mail, determined that former Ghana international and current coaching staff member John Paintsil said: “F*** off mate, yeah.”

Queiroz then responded: “Hey, hey… f*** you mate, f*** you.” England manager Thomas Tuchel then intervened, telling those involved: “Just go, get off now.”

The flashpoint is believed to have stemmed from a foul by Bellingham moments before the break, when the Real Madrid star barged Jerome Opoku in front of the Ghana dugout, seemingly igniting the reaction from the opposing bench.

With qualification still not secured for either side, the tunnel incident is sure to add extra spice to what is already a tense Group L run-in.

Official: Atletico Madrid to report Barcelona to FIFA over Julian Alvarez transfer approach

Atletico Madrid have officially announced that they plan to make a complaint to FIFA about Barcelona’s transfer approach for Julian Alvarez.

Barca are being accused of holding talks with Alvarez whilst he’s under contract with Atletico during what the Spanish giants describe as a “protected period”.

The Argentina international is a man in demand at the moment after some superb form during his time in La Liga, and it perhaps makes sense that Barcelona have been keen on him.

Still, see below as Atletico CEO Gil Marin is quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano as saying: “Our responsibility is to defend the interests of Atlético and that is why we are going to file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona for negotiating with a player under an active contract during the protected period.”

What does all this mean for Julian Alvarez to Arsenal transfer?

It’s not yet clear what this means for Alvarez’s future, as journalist Isaan Khan has today also posted about Arsenal’s interest in the former Manchester City forward.

See below for Khan’s post on X about Arsenal taking a detailed look at Alvarez and emphatically deciding that he’s ideal for Mikel Arteta’s side…

? Julian Alvarez to Arsenal update –
Earlier in the year, Arsenal staff were tasked with gathering data on Alvarez to assess whether he would fit the team’s required profile.

That included his injury record, physiological numbers and playing output. The result was emphatic:…

— Isaan Khan (@IsaanKhan_) June 23, 2026

Still, it seems Atletico are not keen on selling their star player, and especially not to Barcelona.

What this means for Arsenal, we’ll have to wait and see, with Alvarez himself seemingly keen on getting his move to the Nou Camp if possible.

But given the bad blood between Atletico and Barca, it’s perhaps hard to see them doing a deal, which could allow Arsenal back in the race.

The Gunners could do with a world class striker like this in their side, but it might also be worth considering if he’s the best option to go for given that he hasn’t made them his personal priority.

Arsenal notably signed Viktor Gyokeres as a major addition up front last summer, but the jury is still out on the Sweden international, with Alvarez looking like more of an all-rounder who could be the perfect upgrade to take this team closer to Champions League glory.
