Samsung and Meta might bring display equipped AI glasses in 2027
Smart glasses are gaining popularity, and both Meta and Samsung are preparing to launch their own display-equipped AI glasses in 2027. This will mark an important year, as several big brands will compete to bring the best AR and AI experience to users.
Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, is currently the leader in AI smart glasses. It has been working on a new pair called βPhoenix.β These glasses will have a small display and will connect with a wire to a separate puck that holds the battery and main computer parts.
Samsung is also working on its own smart glasses. Unlike Metaβs wired design, Samsungβs glasses are expected to be completely wireless. They will connect to a phone using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Samsungβs glasses will also include a small display on one lens, making them useful for simple AR tasks.

Talking about the launch, Meta first planned to release Phoenix in 2026, but decided to delay it to 2027 for design and quality improvements. On the other hand, Samsung plans to launch basic AI glasses without a display next year, but then follow up with display-equipped glasses in 2027.
Both Samsung and Meta are working on smart glasses, but with different approaches. Metaβs glasses will run on its own Meta Horizon OS, while Samsungβs will use Android XR, Googleβs new operating system for XR devices. With these developments, 2027 is expected to be a significant year for AR, XR, and AI technologies.
