Ahead of the season opener against Baylor in Atlanta, Auburn has entered into a lucrative NIL deal with the Aflac Kickoff Game, the Peach Bowl announced Tuesday. The agreement is worth βmulti-million dollars,β according to the release.
This yearβs matchup between Baylor and Auburn was to take place at Jordan-Hare Stadium to conclude a home-and-home series. In October 2025, On3βs Brett McMurphy first reported the game would instead move to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the Aflac Kickoff Game and Auburn athletes would be able to earn up to $5 million in NIL opportunities. The Peach Bowl did not disclose the exact figure.
Up to 24 Tigers athletes will enter into third-party deals that include marketing assets and promotional appearances, starting in July through the Sept. 5 game, the Peach Bowl said. They will participate in social media posts, public appearances, advertisements, in-game promotions and media interviews while also appearing on signage and branding opportunities.
βIn the new NIL era of college football, this will be an innovative way to create wins for the teams, programs and student-athletes,β said Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO David Epps in a statement. βThis new model is a true win-win scenario where Auburn and its student-athletes get a financial boost in the NIL space. At the same time, itβs a potential gamechanger for neutral-site games like ours who want to bring added value to participating teams and make it a more attractive and lucrative opportunity.β
How NIL led Auburn to move Baylor game
Third-party NIL deals have become an important part of the college sports landscape, especially in the post-House settlement era. While schools can directly share up to $21.3 million with athletes through revenue-sharing, outside opportunities are ways to get βabove the cap.β Those deals are subject to the NIL Go clearinghouse.
After the news came out about Auburnβs decision to move the Baylor matchup to a neutral site, Tigers AD John Cohensaid third-party NIL deals are essential to future success in the modern era. While it wasnβt an easy call, he noted the broader impact.
βWhen opportunities present themselves, you have to very seriously consider that knowing all the factors that we know β one of which is the fact that anytime you move a home game, youβre affecting lives,β Cohen told AuburnSportsβJustin Hokanson at the time. βThere are a lot of businesses in and around Auburn. Dr. Chris Roberts and I both, along with our board members, realize that taking a game away from Auburn, Ala. and moving it somewhere else can economically hurt a community and it can have an adverse effect.

Valve's new Steam Controller lacks native XInput support, but you can still emulate it as long as Steam is running in the background. An enthusiast named Safijari has just engineered a more seamless solution, creating his own DIY "OpenPuck" that lets the Steam Controller emulate other gamepads on the fly. It can emulate Xbox, PlayStation, and even Nintendo layouts, and do so away from your PC.
OpenPuck serves as open-source firmware for a microcontroller, allowing you to easily flash and convert that dev board into a DIY Steam Controller puck. The firmware intercepts raw data from the Steam Controller and translates it on-device, enabling fully-fledged, real-time emulation without the need for Steam Input.
There are other options out there, but the creator used a Pro Micro NRF52480 from Amazon that has the appropriate Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz radios. Once primed in DFU mode, all you need to do is plug the board into your computer via USB-C, drag and drop the Arduino sketch onto it, and the microcontroller turns into an OpenPuck right away. You can 3D print a case to make the assembly look more polished, too.

The sketch is available on the project's GitHub page. Once you've flashed your controller, head to the configurator to manage the puck. It's a simple website that uses the WebUSB API to manage the controller, allowing you to switch between the different modes, which include Switch Pro, Xbox, DualSense (PS5), and DualShock 4 (PS4). The project description claims the puck only has a 1ms latency.
The Switch mode works natively on a Switch console with gyro and haptics support, but you can also emulate a Hori Pad that disables those extra features. The PlayStation modes only work on PC, but there's a special DualShock 3 mode that can work natively on a PlayStation 3 console as well, with gyro and haptics (Sixaxis). Of course, the default Steam Controller mode is also there.
You can switch between some of these different controller modes by pressing all four back buttons together and hitting either A, B, X, or Y, but the PlayStation modes require you to use the web configurator. Once everything is set up, however, the Steam Controller runs just like an official Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation controller without Steam even being open in the background.

Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker upset Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber in the leagueβs home run contest before a raucous crowd at Citizens Bank Park, prevailing by a 12-11 score in the final. Walker completed a closing rally with six straight home runs on his final six swings to overtake Schwarber.Β
The 24-year-old Walker, a fourth-year player in the midst of a breakout season for the resurgent Cardinals, will gain a $1 million prize for winning the Home Run Derbyβthe largest part of the leagueβs $2.5 million prize pool for the event. Those winnings for Walker more than eclipse his entire 2026 salary of $799,400.Β
He is also the first Cardinal to win the Home Run Derby, despite a storied franchise history that includes former stars such as Mark McGwire and Albert Pujols.
Schwarber will get the $500,000 runner-up prize.Β
Bryce Harper, the other Home Run Derby competitor from the All-Star Game host club Phillies, did not advance beyond the first round.Β

ESPNβs linear channel, by comparison, is in roughly 60 million U.S. householdsβdown by 40% from a peak seen 15 years ago.Β
The Home Run Derby production itself alternated between two different crews of talent. That collection of personalities was highlighted in part by MLB legends Barry Bonds and Pujols, MLBβs Nos. 1 and 4 all-time home run hitters.

One of the most popular, fun, and entertaining events on Major League Baseballβs calendar each season is the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, which is a fan-favorite All-Star break festivity that features eight of MLBβs top sluggers duking it out for a prize of $1 million. The All-Star game (and Home Run Derby) is being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the Philliesβ home ballpark, Citizens Bank Park.

βEight players will still make up the field, same as in years past. But instead of trying to hit as many homers as they can during timed rounds, participants will start each round with a finite number of swings: 20 in Round 1, 15 in Round 2 and 15 again in the final round.β
βAll swings will count against a playerΓ’ΒΒs swing allotment, whether it results in a homer or not. However, a player who homers on his final swing of a round can keep swinging until he doesnβt hit one out.β

Itβs a pretty stacked field, and honestly, one of the more anticipated Home Run Derbies in recent memory, it feels like. According to Sky Sport Italia, Watford have agreed a deal with Bologna for goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia, on loan with an option to buy that could become an obligation.
The details of the arrangement are that this is a one-season loan with an option to buy at the end of the term.
However, the condition to activate the obligation and make it permanent would be Watford earning promotion into the Premier League.
There is a very Italian feel developing at Watford, because their coach is Alessio Dionisi, and they had already brought in Edoardo Bove as a free agent last term.
Ravaglia ready to leave Bologna

The 26-year-old came up through the Bologna youth academy, going on a series of loans to Sudtirol, Gubbio, Frosinone and Reggina, until returning to the Stadio DallβAra in 2023.

ALS is a hot topic this summer in the wake of Chris Johnsonβs diagnosis. But what can be done besides the revival of the Ice Bucket Challenge? The answer might surprise youβ¦
Chris Johnsonβs ALS diagnosis sent shockwaves through the NFL and the Nashville community, and the outpouring of support has reintroduced the Ice Bucket Challenge to a new generation. But 12 years after the original viral sensation raised millions for medical advancement, the question remains: why is ALS research still so far behind?
I sat down with Indu Navar, founder and CEO of Everything ALS, to find out what has actually changed, what hasnβt, and what people like you and me can do right now to help.
The Ice Bucket Challenge raised awareness, but ALS treatment hasnβt kept pace
Navar, who lost her husband to the disease in 2019, didnβt mince words about the state of ALS care. The numbers are staggering and upsetting. Every 90 minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with ALS. Every 90 minutes, someone dies from it. And the diagnostic process hasnβt meaningfully changed since Lou Gehrigβs famous speech in 1939.
βWeβve known this for 90 years,β Navar said. βAnd up to today, weβre still diagnosing somebody the same way and saying every 90 minutes, βyou have 2 to 5 years to live.' Thatβs what we did 70 years ago!β
She pointed to the comparable diseases that have seen breakthroughs. Multiple sclerosis now has roughly 40 different treatments available. Spinal muscular atrophy, a pediatric motor neuron disease, has seen near-cure therapies developed in the 21st century.
ALS has seen nothing close to that level of progress.
The 2014 Ice Bucket Challenge generated enormous awareness, but Navar was candid about its limitations. For most people, it was a social media moment first and a genuine charitable cause second. The deeper understanding of what ALS actually does to the body, and how woefully underfunded its research remains, never fully took root.
Why ALS research keeps starting from scratch
Funding is part of the problem, but Navar identified something more fundamental about the problem: ALS moves fast. Patients deteriorate rapidly, and families are devastated. Then they walk away from the cause, because the person they loved is gone.
βYou really donβt get the staying power,β Navar explained. βThe movement is a revolving door. You start a movement, everybody starts something when theyβre shocked, and then it dwindles down.β
That revolving door means institutional knowledge leaves with each wave of families. New patients and caregivers enter the system with no foundation, asking the same basic questions about speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and treatment options that the previous generation already answered.
That cycle is exactly why Navar founded Everything ALS as a tech nonprofit. Her organization hosts expert talks where patients and families can ask questions. The goal is to build a permanent platform of accumulated knowledge rather than letting each new family start from zero.
How technology and AI could finally change the trajectory
Hereβs where Navarβs background as a tech entrepreneur shines. She argued that ALS measurement tools are stuck in the past. The current standard asks patients to rate their own speech, walking, and breathing on a scale of 0 to 4. That subjective, rudimentary scale is the primary measurement used in clinical trials.
βHow do you know what a 3, 2, 1 is?β Navar asked. βItβs not like you know the disease. Everybodyβs slope is different.β
Everything ALS is building objective measurement tools using AI and machine learning. Their speech study collects voice data from both ALS patients and healthy individuals of the same age, allowing algorithms to track real changes over time rather than relying on patient guesswork. That data can then be fed back to clinicians and used to optimize clinical trials.
The organization also built an AI product called Sava AI, a generative AI chatbot that helps patients find clinical trials in their region. Navar said that roughly 78% of ALS patients who want to participate in clinical trials donβt know where to go. Her tool is designed to change that.
What you can do right now
Johnsonβs decision to use his platform to revive the Ice Bucket Challenge and rally donations has been impactful already. But Navar stressed that the average person can contribute beyond dumping ice water on their head. Downloading the Everything ALS app and participating in the speech study takes as little as two minutes. You donβt need to have ALS or even know someone with it. Researchers need healthy control data just as much as patient data to build the AI models that could accelerate treatment development.
The sports world, and Nashville in particular, is fired up right now. The challenge is converting that energy into something that outlasts the news cycle. Johnson gave ALS its highest-profile moment in years. What people do with that moment beyond social media will determine whether this time is any different.
Just like last cycle, the EDGE position once again features one of the deepest group of blue-chip prospects.
According to the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies, thereβs a total of 40 four and five-star recruits at the position. That includes seven five-stars and an additional five top-100 overall recruits.
All 40 of those EDGE recruits are currently committed, as of July 12. Those commitments have dispersed among 23 different programs. That makes for some big-time hauls at the position for multiple schools.

Unsurprisingly, Texas A&Mβs top-ranked class β per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings β is filled with talent on both sides of the ball. Its trio of EDGE commits are among the best.
At the end of March, it landed Forstall, a New Orleans product who now plays for Florida powerhouse IMG Academy. Heβs long been considered one of the top pass-rushers in the cycle and that remains the case ahead of his senior season.
The Aggies have been red-hot the entire cycle and that continued into official visit season. Ards III, another Sunshine State star, kicked off a big June by making his commitment. Heβs the No. 7 player in Florida.
McCarty was one of the big early recruiting victories for Mike Elko and A&M. He made his pledge back in December and has maintained blue-chip status since.
Notre Dameβs No. 2 recruiting class is loaded at just about every position β see Rivalsβ top running back and offensive line classes. This EDGE group is certainly up there, too.
It starts with Sesay, a quintessential target for the Irish. The No. 3 player in Pennsylvania committed last month, choosing ND over LSU and Penn State, among others. Heβs one of three five-stars in the class.
May brought commitments from both OβNeil and Vaughn, both of whom play their high school football in New Jersey. They are the No. 3 and No. 4 players in the Garden State, respectively. Like a majority of Notre Dameβs commits, the EDGE group was prioritized early and pursued heavily. Early relationships and big visits to South Bend helped seal the trio of commitments.
Landing both Whitehead and Green headlined what was a 10-commit June for Lane Kiffin and LSU. They are both prospects pushing to get inside the top 50 nationally and could even push for five-star status this fall.
The latter jumped in the boat first on June 7. Green is the No. 3 player in Georgia and he chose the Tigers over Georgia, Alabama, Oregon and plenty other high-profile programs. He had over 120 total tackles as a junior and is primed for a monster senior season.
The former committed 10 days after Green. Whitehead is the top-ranked recruit in Virginia and has drawn comparisons to Clelin Ferrell by the Scouting and Rankings Team at Rivals. Ohio State, Penn State and South Carolina were among the other contenders in his recruitment, but heβs got his sights set on Baton Rouge.
Newly-promoted Frosinone have announced that Gabriele Calvani, Seydou Fini and Giorgio Cittadini have renewed their loans from Genoa and Atalanta.
The Canarini finished second in the Serie B table last season, securing automatic promotion back to the top flight.
They did it largely thanks to a squad packed with young talent on loan from Serie A sides.
Now those are allowed to continue the project at the Stadio Benito Stirpe, as they renewed their loan agreements for one more season.

Genoa have formally loaned defender Calvani and striker Fini for the 2026-27 campaign.
Atalanta also sealed the loan of defender Cittadini for another season.
All of those are temporary moves without options to make them permanent.

Assembling the Razer Soma Chroma
This is the fourth Razer gaming chair that Iβve reviewed, so I could pretty much put one together blindfolded. From the packaging to the tools/accessories included, not much has changed. Inside the box, youβll find:
Fabric gloves for assembly (glued to the inner flap)
Backrest and seat base (left and right arms pre-attached)

Gas lift, tilt mechanism
Allen wrench, screws, and plastic covers for left/right side arms
2.4 GHz USB dongle (attached to assembly guide)
The chair arrived in a massive box, and the actual weight listed on the shipping label as 70 pounds. Upon opening the box, I was greeted by a familiar sight: a pair of black-and-green work gloves for assembling the chair. Itβs a nice touch, but I always toss the gloves aside because I prefer to work with my bare hands for a relatively simple task like this.
A large green cardstock assembly guide sits atop the components, with a tiny box containing the 2.4 GHz wireless USB dongle attached to it.
The seat base, seatback, and 5-arm base were all wrapped in clear plastic bags to protect the metal and fabric on the components during shipping. The first step was to insert the castors into the 5-arm base, and then to insert the gas lift cylinder into the base.
The next step was to remove the four screws that are preinstalled from the factory from the bottom of the seat base with the included Allen wrench tool. Once removed, I attached the tilt mechanism, reinserted the same four screws, and placed it on the 5-arm base. The seatback has two screws on each side that must be removed before you attach it to the seat base.
Once the seatback was attached, I reinserted the four screws and slipped on the plastic cover to hide the screws and attachment mechanism. I'll note that on Razer Iskur chairs, the plastic cover is secured with a single screw on either side, and the screw is covered with a tiny plastic plug. The cover on the Soma Chroma simply slides and locks into place.
Once the chair is fully assembled, youβre not quite done yet. You still need to get power to the chair for the RGB lighting to work. The chair includes a relatively short USB-C cord that hangs out the back. Razer also supplied me with a 10-foot USB-C-to-USB-C extension cable, which I used to connect to my desktop PC. However, this setup is rather cumbersome and requires continually fighting the cable as you move around your workspace.
My solution was to plug the USB-C cable from the back of the chair into a portable power bank, and then tuck it into the zippered pouch at the bottom of the seatback. This worked well, and is clearly how the chair is intended to be used β however, it does not ship with a battery pack, nor does it ship with an extra-long cable (Razer sent that separately). So you'll need to invest in a battery pack or an extension cable to use the RGB on this chair.
Razer Soma Chroma Design
The Soma Chroma introduces an entirely new design language for Razer gaming chairs. Whereas the Iskur line has a more organic design, with softer curves and radiused edges, the Soma Chroma is more angularβespecially on the seatback.
The seat back and the base have recessed channels, which I assume would help to improve airflow under your buttocks and around your back. It's an interesting design choice, though I imagine the recessed channels in the seat base will also quickly fill with dirt, dust, and food crumbs. The same design is mirrored on the back of the chair. While previous Iskur chairs have used the same material on both the front and back, the back of the Soma Chroma is constructed of hard plastic.
You'll find a zippered pouch at the back of the seat base, which runs the full width. It's large enough to accommodate a portable power bank, so you don't have to be tethered to a long extension cord to power the RGB lights.
Speaking of the RGB lights, they are controlled using Razerβs Synapse software. I installed the Synapse app on my desktop computer and then plugged in the 2.4 GHz wireless USB dongle (the chair also has integrated Bluetooth LE, if you prefer to go that route). The Soma Chroma then showed up in the app, allowing me to configure it.

Thereβs a brightness slider and an option to dim the lights after a period of inactivity on the right panel. In the right panel, there are options to change the default effects pattern. You can configure more advanced effects using the Chroma Studio. As you might expect, you can sync the RGBs with your games, although the effect is not evenly remotely noticeable unless youβre in a dark room.
During the daytime, youβre not going to notice the lights at all, and the only people who will notice are your coworkers on Google Meet/Zoom/Teams calls.
Although you can control the RGB effects in software, there are also physical controls at the top of the headrest.
Razer Soma Chroma Adjustments and Comfort
The Soma Chroma features dual-density cold-cured foam for the seat cushion. It did a good job of conforming to my buttocks, as it's specifically designed to relieve pressure points. There's good thigh support for my 5-foot-10-inch and 161-ish-pound frame.
What you gain in RGB goodness, you lose in adjustability. There's no adjustable lumbar support β what you see is what you get. Razer said that the lumbar curve is designed to encourage a neutral position and reduce fatigue after long-term use. That may be true in theory, but my lower back begged to differ after sitting in the chair for 6 hours straight in an upright and "ergonomically-correct" position. This was never an issue for me with the Iskur V2, with its 360-degree lumbar support β or even with the Iskur V2 X, which has no lumbar controls.

The backrest is adjustable from its default 90-degree upright position all the way back to 155 degrees. I spent the majority of my time either fully upright or slightly reclined at about 100 degrees. Anything more than 100 degrees just doesn't feel natural to me in any gaming chair.
The Soma Chroma features 2D armrests, which are adjustable for swivel and height. The armrests have an up/down travel of 4 inches and can swivel in or out by up to 25 degrees. They're densely padded and were a comfortable home for my elbows during extended sessions.
The chair has a height adjustment mechanism via a handle located on the right side of the seat base. I preferred to leave the seat at its maximum height of 20.1 inches.
Bottom Line
The Razer Soma Chroma is an interesting chair for gamers who are already fully entrenched in the Chroma ecosystem. The Soma Chroma has full access to Razerβs software suite, so you can sync all your devices to suit your gaming (or other media) needs. The chair also features built-in Bluetooth LE and includes a 2.4 GHz wireless USB dongle.
The RGB integration is also well-done, with support for portable power banks and a zippered pouch on the back to discreetly hide it. You can also use a USB-C extension cord to connect the Soma Chroma to your PC, but it is a nightmare for ergonomics. Of course, the chair ships with neither a portable battery pack or an extension cord, so you'll need to purchase these separately.
On the flip side, the Soma Chroma isnβt as adjustable as some of Razerβs other chairs, as it lacks 3D armrests and lumbar controls. I also found that I had some minor lower back pain when using the chair for hours in my preferred seating position. Of course, your mileage may vary, but I haven't experienced this with previous Razer chairs.
And the other matter to consider is the $499 price. If you donβt need RGB wizardry, the Razer Iskur V2 X is $200 cheaper and just as good on chair fundamentals.

Multiple sources this evening state that Gila will be in Milan tonight, so he can undergo the necessary medical tests on Friday.
He is then ready to sign a five-year contract worth β¬5m net per season, while his agent is expected to pocket β¬5m in commission.
Lazio are only getting 50 per cent of the β¬30m fee, thanks to the arrangement they had agreed with Real Madrid when buying the defender for just β¬6m in 2022.
As part of the deal, La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Milan will also buy Lazio youth team left-back Lorenzo Calvani for β¬2.5m.
This is β¬30m for the total, specifically β¬27m plus some easy to achieve add-ons.
