Saka gets big reaction from Henry & Richards as he says he knows who he wants Arsenal to play in CL final

6 May 2026 at 09:39

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka got a big reaction from the pundits in the CBS Sports studio as he discussed who he wants to play in the Champions League final.

The Gunners were in celebratory mood last night as they made it to the final of Europe’s biggest club competition for the first time in 20 years and only the second time in their history.

Saka scored the winner for Arsenal as they beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium and 2-1 on aggregate, and he was asked about his preferred final opponent out of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain afterwards.

Watch below, however, as Saka insisted he couldn’t give an answer to that question from Micah Richards, though he dropped the cryptic line that “deep down” he knows who he wants to face…

This got a big reaction from the likes of Richards and Thierry Henry on the punditry team, and it’s interesting to think about what Saka could mean.

Who does Bukayo Saka want Arsenal to face in the Champions League final?

We will probably never know for sure which team Saka was talking about as Bayern prepare to host PSG at the Allianz Arena this evening for the second leg of their semi-final tie.

It may be that the England international has his eye on revenge on PSG for knocking them out in last season’s semi-final, which was a closer contest than the 3-1 aggregate score-line would suggest.

Then again, perhaps Saka is thinking back to Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Bayern earlier this season in the league phase of the competition, with the player and the rest of his teammates perhaps fancying their chances against a side they already know they can beat.

We’ll find out later who will be Arsenal’s opponents, with the two finalists set to meet in Budapest on the 30th of May.

Watch: Bukayo with a massive goal right at the end of the first half to give Arsenal the lead vs Atletico Madrid

Bukayo Saka has give Arsenal a massive lead over Athletico Madrid, right at the end of the first half.

Viktor Gyokeres held the ball up brilliantly down the right-hand side before dinking a cross over to Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian appeared to hesitate on the ball, and for a moment, it looked like the opportunity might have vanished against a compact Atlético defence.

However, Trossard managed to fire a low drive toward the bottom corner. While Jan Oblak reacted with a sharp parry, Bukayo Saka was the most alert man in the box, to tap it in on the rebound

It is huge goal from Saka and a massive goal that has put Arsenal just 45 minutes away from a place in the Champions League final.

In a crucial 3-0 victory over Fulham that kept Arsenal six points (now five) clear at the top of the Premier League, Saka played only 45 minutes but still managed to record a goal and an assist.

Tonight, he has translated that domestic dominance to the European stage.

While Arsenal faced heartbreak earlier this year, losing the League Cup final to Manchester City and suffering a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Southampton. the potential for a historic Premier League and Champions League double remains very much alive.

With Saka firing on all cylinders, the Gunners look ready to exorcise their continental demons and finally claim the trophies that have eluded them for decades.

Neville praises ‘top-class’ Arsenal player who was on top of his game against Fulham

4 May 2026 at 13:08

Mikel Arteta’s squad delivered an absolute masterclass, completely dismantling Fulham in a dominant 3-0 victory.

The win was a massive statement, keeping the Gunners right at the summit of the Premier League with 76 points and establishing a crucial six-point gap over a relentless Manchester City side.

While striker Viktor Gyökeres secured an impressive brace with goals on either side of the half-time break, it was Bukayo Saka’s fine strike that truly captured everyone’s attention.

The sheer quality of Saka’s performance certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

Gary Neville praises Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

Speaking on on NBC Sports, Manchester United legend Gary Neville was quick to dish out the plaudits.

While Neville has occasionally been critical of Arsenal’s attacking fluidity this season, he couldn’t help but rave about the winger’s top-class impact and backed the team for Premier League glory.

He said: “They looked like they had a little bit of something back with Saka on that right-hand side. Madueke’s a very good player, but Saka’s top-class. It was a very day for Arsenal. They have got to wait and watch Manchester City.”

Neville observed that while Arteta will naturally be thrilled with the comfortable three points, the demanding manager might actually be slightly frustrated that they didn’t score even more to pad their crucial goal difference.

“He will be pleased with the victory and must remind the players to capitalize on their opportunities and be clinical and ruthless,” Neville said.

Gunners are looking to end their title drought

For Arsenal fans, the stakes are almost unbearably high.

It has been an agonising 22 years since the club last lifted the Premier League trophy, and they are desperate to avoid the heartbreak of finishing as runners-up for a third consecutive season.

The pressure is now firmly shifted back onto Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who currently hold two games in hand to close that daunting six-point gap.

Their first test is a tricky Monday night trip to Everton.

With Gyökeres banging in the goals and Saka terrorising fullbacks on the right wing, the Gunners possess all the necessary firepower to cross the finish line.
