Indonesia November 2025: BYD Atto 1 confirms instant best-seller status

12 December 2025 at 03:48

The BYD Atto 1 confirms its status of instant best-seller in Indonesia.

New vehicle wholesales in Indonesia have stabilised in November at -0.1% year-on-year toΒ 74,252. Due to a mediocre start of the year, the year-to-date tally remains in frank negative at -9.5% to 710,084. Retail sales for their part are actually up 4.3% toΒ 79,310 for the month but down -8.3% to 739,977 year-to-date.

Toyota (-19.8%) is in deep trouble but still manages a 29.1% market share vs. 31.5% so far this year. Daihatsu (+16.5%) posts a very strong result but is down one percentage point on its YTD share at 15.7% vs. 16.7%. After reaching a record 14.3% share last month, BYD (+233.6%) is down slightly to a still tremendous 12.8% due to one single model as we’ll see further down. The Chinese carmaker more tham triples its sales year-on-year. Isuzu (+25.3%), Mitsubishi (+22.3%), Suzuki (+8.9%) and Mitsubishi Fuso (+5.4%) are also strong below whereas Honda (-63.9%) collapses. Retail-wise, Toyota (-6.2%) contains its loss ahead of Daihatsu (+5.3%), BYD (+191%) and Mitsubishi (+15%).

Over in the wholesales models charts, the new BYD Atto 1 (aka Seagull or Dolphin Mini/Surf) confirms its spectacular arrival in the Indonesian market with a second straight win at above 10% share, this time 11.2%. This is a really momentous event and by far the most successful launch in the country ever. Leader year-to-date, the Toyota Kijang Innova (-24.3%) is back up one spot on October to #2, bypassing the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+9.3%). The Toyota Avanza (-34.4%) is in difficulty at #4 while the Suzuki Carry Pikap (+31.4%) rounds out the Top 5 like last month. Strong runs by the Daihatsu Gran Max Minibus (+946.6%), Toyota Raize (+56.9%) and Rush (+20.7%).

Previous month: Indonesia October 2025: BYD Atto 1 lands directly at #1 with 12.7% share

Japan November 2025: Sales down again, Toyota RAV4 and bZ4X impress

8 December 2025 at 11:09

The Toyota bZ4X is inside the Japanese Top 30 for the first time.

New vehicle sales in Japan endure a 5th straight month of year-on-year declines in November at -5.1% to 369,721 units. Thanks to a start of the year boosted by low year-ago volumes, the YTD tally remains in positive at +3.4% to 4,230,318. 7 of the Top 8 carmakers are in negative this month. Toyota (-1.2%) leads the way above Suzuki (-3.6%) and Honda (-9.5%). Daihatsu (+9.3%) is the sole gainer near the top but drops one spot on last month to #4. Below, Nissan (-26.5%), Mazda (-17.5%), Mitsubishi (-17.2%) and Subaru (-15.4%) are all hit hard. Audi (+81.4%), Lexus (+19.3%), Mitsubishi Fuso (+17.1%) and Volkswagen (+8%) stand out further down.

Over in the regular cars ranking, both the Toyota Yaris/Cross (-22.6%) and Corolla/Cross (-32.1%) freefall but keep the lead. Obviously when separating the Cross variants these models are much weaker, which makes the Toyota Raize (+88.2%) the β€˜true’ best-seller. The Toyota Sienta (+9.4%) and Roomy (+91.3%) complete the Top 5 above the Toyota Alphard (-18.4%). The Honda Freed (-9.7%) is the best-selling non Toyota like last month with the Toyota Voxy (+17.8%), Noah (+13.1%) and Honda Vezel (+19.3%) rounding out the Top 10. Below, notice the Toyota RAV4 (+284.7%), Suzuki Xbee (+100.8%) and bZ4X (+2938.5%) the latter breaking into the Top 30 for the first time for its 2nd month inside the Top 50.

Looking at kei cars, the Honda N-BOX (-10.2%) reclaims the top spot after a paltry October result when it dropped to #4. The Suzuki Spacia (-10.8%) stays at #2 ahead of last month’s leader the Daihatsu Move (+40.2%) still surging year-on-year. The Daihatsu Tanto (-17.7%) on the other hand is in difficulty at #4. The Honda N-One (+44%), Nissan Roox (+41%), Suzuki Jimny (+38.8%) and Mitsubishi Delica Mini/eK (+32%) deliver stunning results below.

Previous month: Japan October 2025: Daihatsu (+26.9%) defies negative market (-1.8%)

One year ago: Japan November 2024: Toyota Land Cruiser (+82.4%), Alphard (+74.1%) stun in negative market
