Samsungβs AI-powered Galaxy Glasses have not even entered the market yet, and Meta has already made its move. Starting at $299, Metaβs new AI-powered glasses are entering the market at a point where regular consumers can actually consider buying them.
The smart glasses race is getting serious, and Meta just fired the first major shot with a product that targets the biggest weakness in emerging wearable categories: price.
For Samsung, which is reportedly preparing its own Galaxy Glasses as part of its XR strategy, this is the kind of early momentum that cannot be ignored.
The new Meta Glasses lineup, developed with EssilorLuxottica, comes in multiple styles, including Adventurer, Fury, and a Kylie Jenner collaboration.

The company is bringing Meta AI, powered by its new Muse Spark multimodal model, giving the glasses a stronger focus on real-world interaction.
The glasses feature open-ear audio, wind noise reduction, an 8-hour battery life, and a charging case that extends usage up to 40 hours. Meta is also preparing features like pedestrian navigation and expanded live translation support with 14 new languages.
Samsungβs Galaxy Glasses could still bring something different. The company has years of experience building polished consumer hardware, displays, cameras, and mobile integrations.
If Samsung combines that expertise with Galaxy AI, it could create a strong alternative.

We have had our early unofficial looks at Samsungβs upcoming foldables, but the smartwatches remained a mystery. Credible tipster Onleaks changed that today by revealing the Galaxy Watch 9 design through CAD renders.
Samsung is expected to unveil two Wear OS watches next month. The second-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra is coming alongside the Watch 9. The next Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to be held on July 22 in London.
Galaxy Watch 9 renders reveal a familiar design and shape. Samsung is retaining the design that already works rather than making changes. The Watch 9 keeps its squircle design approach, featuring a circular screen.
Samsungβs squircle design decision makes the smartwatch durable. The display is protected by a uniquely crafted frame that looks classy yet elegant. Watch 8 was a major overhaul over the Watch 7, but Watch 9 is a refined version.
Galaxy Watch 9 will be available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm. AndroidHeadlines reconfirms the recently leaked colorways, which promised Cream and/or Graphite for smaller ones and Silver and/or Graphite for larger ones.

The last three generations of Galaxy S-series will receive 7 years of software support, but issues like green line raise a question of whether the flagship quality experience will remain consistent with the software lifecycle.
Hardware issues like green or pink lines have become a headache for existing users. It doesnβt take away the touch functionality, but makes the display look extremely unpleasant.
In the past couple of years, this issue has appeared in various Android devices, but the Galaxy flagships have received special attention. There are two reasons for that: the more frequent emergence and the large user base.
Take Galaxy S22 as an example; it was the first to be widely recognized for the green line issue. Though Samsung took some steps to replace the screen free of cost, that doesnβt make any difference. Why? Because the problem shouldnβt have appeared in the first place, affecting many users.
Launched in 2022, the Galaxy S22 is eligible for four OS updates and five years of security patches. So, the phone has completed its update OS cycle with Android 16 (One UI 8.0). Interestingly, the green line issue appeared around the Android 14 update.
The Galaxy S23 series is eligible for the same OS update tier, making Android 17 its last major release. Before that happens, Galaxy S23 users are also reporting the green line issue.
Many users found this occurrence after upgrading to the One UI 8.5 software update, but the root cause remains unknown.
However, theories suggest that internal heat could be the primary cause, which deteriorates pixels in a certain pattern primarily vertically. Some believe that it is the degrading display panel quality. Weβve also seen community suggestions such as keeping the phone in a cool place before updating or installing the update overnight.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra use the M11 display, and the problem in both generations is also common. What about the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the S25 Ultra devices? They use M13 panels. So, thereβs a chance that they may not age the pixels the same as the S23 and S22 series.
However, unlike the Galaxy S22 and S23 series, the S24 series and later flagships are eligible for 7 OS updates and 7 years of security updates. So, they have three more years than their predecessor.
If M11 can show issues like green and pink lines within three years of their launch, M13 should be showing it around 5-6 years? Maybe or maybe not. Or is this issue limited to the M11 panels featured in S22 and S23 series devices? There is no clarity surrounding its origin.
For now, the S24 series has only installed two major updates, and there are five more left to test its hardware against the very problem that is making users worry about their devices in the long term.

Apple announced iOS 27 at its annual WWDC with a load of new features. However, the developers are still putting the finishing touches on it and iOS 27 beta 2 brings several new features. Apple iOS 27 Beta 2 update is improving the messaging experience between iPhone and Samsung/Android users by adding better support for RCS features.
The update introduces (via AndroidAuthority) native emoji reactions and inline replies for cross-platform conversations. Previously, reactions sent from an iPhone to an Android device often appeared as text-based descriptions.
With the latest change, supported reactions now display as actual emojis on both platforms. Apple has also expanded Photomoji support, allowing users on both sides to interact with the feature.
The new capabilities are based on the RCS 2.7 Universal Profile standard, which gives Apple and Android devices a more unified messaging foundation. This could open the door for additional features, like message editing and unsending.
Itβs worth noting that Appleβs move follows the introduction of default end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging in the stable iOS 26.5 release.
The company has gradually expanded RCS support since bringing the standard to iPhone, reducing some of the long-standing differences between iMessage and Android messaging experiences.

The day Samsung began One UI 8.5 stable rollout, plenty of Galaxy devices received the update. The availability in Wave 1 was limited to South Korea. However, the Wave 2 rollout covered millions of Galaxy devices on May 11, 2026.

Samsung has a very colorful lineup of 2026 foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 series. The three foldable phones will launch in late July, but a new report has apparently revealed the potential color options.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be a compact phone with a clamshell-style design. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature wide cover and main screens. Meanwhile, the Z Fold 8 Ultra is set to succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 7 of the previous year.
Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 (Wide), and Z Fold 8 Ultra, each, will be available in four color options. The DigitalCitizen also revealed model numbers and storage variants, which include up to 1TB configuration for the Fold 8 series.
Among the colors, Cream and Graphite are the common colors across the three models. The remaining two are different for each smartphone. Samsung would decide a specific version as the hero color in commercial images.
Here are the leaked color options:
Galaxy Z Flip 8
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
The leaked color options hint at a striking palette over last yearβs boring shades. The Fold Ultra has two shades with βShadowβ suffix, which signal something more exciting than our imagination and expectations from Samsung.
Samsung is bringing a Wide Fold model to compete with Appleβs first foldable iPhone. The device reportedly shares a similar aspect ratio and screen size to its Apple counterpart, seizing the market before iPhone Ultraβs entry.
Galaxy Unpacked event may be held in London on July 22. Samsung hasnβt confirmed the venue or date; they just emerged in Korean reports. As we approach July, things will start to unfold as we await a mega launch event.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are getting their roles separated in 2026. A new leak has just revealed the sizes, colors, and variants of the upcoming smartwatch models Samsung plans to launch this July.
Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch 9 in two sizes and two color options, as well as Bluetooth and LTE connectivity variants. Check the upcoming sizes, colors, connectivity choices, and model numbers discovered by DigitalCitizen.
Galaxy Watch 9 will offer a wide range of options, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will only appear in a single size and two color shades. Reports suggest a 5G-capable model will also be there, but itβs missing in the latest leak.
Itβs worth noting that the colors of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 feature a βTitaniumβ prefix, which indicates that the next rugged smartwatch will retain a Titanium case, which Samsung abandoned in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Samsung will equip its upcoming watch or watches with the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset. The Galaxy Watch 9 may retain the Exynos W series chip, while the Snapdragon looks very likely for the second-generation Ultra Watch.

Meta has quietly rolled out Instagram for TV to Samsung Smart TVs across the US, and if youβve got a 2020 model or newer, youβre already eligible.
Meta started testing Instagram on TV a while back on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV. Samsung owns the biggest slice of the US smart TV market, so this expansion finally puts Instagram in front of the audience that actually matters. Combined with those earlier platforms, Instagram now covers most connected TV devices in the country.
Starting today, Instagram for TV is available on Samsung Smart TVs in the US, including 2020 model year TVs and newer. Combined with Amazon Fire TV and Google TV, Instagram is now available across the majority of connected TV devices in the US.
The features landing today go beyond just porting the app to a bigger screen. There are channels organized by interest, comedy, sports, and creator content.
Stories are now viewable without five people leaning over someoneβs phone. Horizontal video gets its own dedicated space, which, honestly, should have existed from the start.
You can cast Reels from your phone directly to the TV. Found something worth sharing? A few taps and itβs up on the big screen. Itβs currently live on Google TV and Fire TV, with Samsung presumably coming shortly.
Meta is exploring longer-form creator content, episodic series, and live broadcasts built specifically for the TV environment. These arenβt available yet, but Meta wants Instagram to compete directly with YouTube.

Motorolaβs Edge 70 series could soon gain another member. Leaked renders and details of the Motorola Edge 70 Max have surfaced online, offering an early look at what appears to be a new high-end addition to the lineup. The images reveal the deviceβs design and hint at several premium features ahead of its official announcement.

Based on the leaked renders, the Edge 70 Max follows Motorolaβs familiar design language with a flat frame, slim display bezels, and a centred punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The device is shown in Onyx Black, Sage Green, and Glacier Blue color options, giving users a choice of understated as well as vibrant finishes.
The rear panel houses a square camera module that includes a 50-megapixel primary camera based on a Sony Lytia sensor with optical image stabilization. Alongside the main camera, the setup appears to feature an additional camera and a third sensor. While details about the remaining cameras have not surfaced, the leak suggests Motorola is targeting users who want a capable photography experience without stepping into ultra-premium territory.
Another notable detail is the presence of MIL-STD-810H certification, indicating a focus on durability. The images also show a dedicated button on the left side of the frame, although its functionality remains unknown. One render additionally depicts the phone attached to a puck-shaped wireless charger, hinting at support for magnetic Qi2 accessories and wireless charging.

The Edge 70 Max is said to be powered by Qualcommβs Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which also powers the more premium Motorola Signature phone. Several specifications remain under wraps, including battery capacity, charging speeds, display details, and pricing. It is also unclear whether the Edge 70 Max is the same device that previously appeared in rumours as the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. Motorola has yet to confirm any details, but the leaked renders suggest the launch may not be far away.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17C in China, and the timing says a lot about where budget smartphones are heading. The phone succeeds the Redmi 15C, skipping a generation entirely, and arrives with a RAM configuration that would have seemed like a regression just two years ago.
The Redmi 17C ships with just 4GB of RAM, consistent with what industry reports had predicted as the new floor for budget Android phones. Thatβs half the 8GB ceiling its predecessor offered just nine months ago.Β

Xiaomi pairs it with either 64GB or 128GB of storage, with the base variant priced at 799 yuan (approximately $110) and the 128GB model at 899 yuan (approximately $132).
The Redmi 17C runs on a MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra chipset clocked at 2GHz and runs HyperOS 3 out of the box. The front houses a 6.88-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, DC Dimming, and TΓV Rheinland eye protection certification. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner handles biometric unlock.

At the back, the circular decoration may trick you into believing itβs a quad-camera setup, but it houses a single 13MP lens and an LED flash. The other two rings are just decorative. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 5MP shooter. It is a design choice that prioritizes aesthetics over hardware, consistent with the phoneβs budget positioning.
A 5,160mAh battery with 18W wired charging keeps the device running. The Redmi 17C is available in three finishes: Red with a faux leather texture, and Black and White with a glossy finish. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included.
Thereβs no word yet on when and where Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 17C in international markets.

The company has now introduced a new 4G variant of the smartphone, trading 5G connectivity for an even bigger 8,000mAh battery. However, battery capacity is not the only highlight, as the device also brings a large display, gaming-focused features, and Android 16 out of the box. Hereβs everything you need to know about the latest Realme P4x (4G).

The Realme P4x features a 6.8-inch LCD waterdrop notch with HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 900 nits of brightness in high-brightness mode. It is powered by the T7250 octa-core chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. Depending on the market, the phone is available in multiple memory configurations and also supports expandable storage through a microSD card slot.
One of the key highlights is its 8,000mAh battery, which supports 45W SuperVOOC charging. Realme claims the battery can deliver close to 10 hours of continuous gaming in supported titles. The device also supports reverse charging, allowing it to power compatible accessories and smartphones. To help manage heat during long gaming sessions, the phone includes an 11,124mmΒ² cooling system.

For photography, the handset is equipped with a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs Realme UI based on Android 16 and includes Google Gemini integration, which can be launched through the power button.
Other notable features include a customizable notification LED, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, IP64-rated dust and water resistance, and military-grade shock resistance.

As per a leak by tipster Galaxy Techie, Samsung appears to be retaining the overall design language of the original Galaxy Watch Ultra. The leaked sketches show a familiar squircle-shaped chassis instead of a traditional circular case, suggesting the company is sticking with the look introduced last year.
While the overall appearance remains largely unchanged, a few refinements are said to be on the way. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could feature slimmer bezels around the display, potentially allowing for a more immersive viewing experience. The side button area is also expected to receive adjustments, while the signature orange Quick Button may adopt a subtler design with an orange outline instead of being fully coloured.
The renders currently circulating online appear to be software illustrations rather than actual photographs of the smartwatch. As a result, some design elements could differ from the final retail version that Samsung eventually unveils.
The same leak also sheds light on Samsungβs upcoming Galaxy Watch 9. Unlike previous generations, the standard model is tipped to feature a boxier design. Samsung is reportedly skipping a Classic variant this year, leaving the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as the main smartwatch offerings.
The Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to arrive in beige, black and silver colour options paired with new band designs. Both watches could ship with updated watch faces and new features as part of One UI 9 Watch, which is based on Wear OS 7.
Battery details have also emerged, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 rumoured to include an 800mAh battery, while the Galaxy Watch 9 may feature a 400mAh cell. Samsung is expected to unveil the new wearables alongside its next foldable smartphones at a Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22 in London.
What are your thoughts on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2βs leaked design? Do the slimmer bezels and refined buttons sound like meaningful upgrades to you?

Keychron has listed a new full-size keyboard on its website, the V6 Ultra HE, ahead of a Kickstarter campaign planned for July 22nd. The board is designed to support both traditional mechanical switches and newer TMR magnetic switches on the exact same circuit board.

To do this, the keyboard uses a hybrid design Keychron calls the Nova Socket. The practical application here is that you can mix and match switch types based on what you are doing.
For example, you can place magnetic switches in gaming-heavy areas like the WASD cluster to use their adjustable actuation, while keeping standard mechanical switches on the rest of the board for a standard typing feel. Out of the box, the V6 Ultra HE comes pre-installed with a mix of Keychronβs Ultra Fast Lime magnetic switches and Apex mechanical switches.

The magnetic switches rely on TMR sensing technology. This allows users to set custom actuation points, use rapid trigger for faster key resets, and configure SOCD behavior. Rather than requiring you to install a dedicated desktop app, Keychron handles these hardware adjustments, as well as basic keymapping and macros, through a QMK-powered open-source web launcher.
The connectivity options are fairly standard for current keyboards. It includes an 8,000Hz polling rate when plugged in via USB, a 2.4GHz wireless mode for lower latency, and Bluetooth 5.3 for connecting to multiple devices. There is also built-in support for both macOS and Windows layouts.

The physical build includes a gasket-mounted structure and multiple layers of sound-dampening materials to manage typing noise. The keycaps are made of double-shot PBT plastic in Keychronβs OSA profile.
The keyboard also features a detachable battery module. This makes the battery easier to replace down the line, which aligns with upcoming European Union regulations regarding user-replaceable batteries in electronics.
The exact retail price isnβt public yet. Keychron is currently taking $5 deposits on its website, which grants backers an early-bird price listed as β$1?9β when the Kickstarter goes live. This indicates the promotional price will fall somewhere between $109 and $199.
In related news, Lenovo has launched an affordable tri-mode mechanical keyboard with hot-swappable switches, while Logitech has unveiled the G316 X 98 gaming keyboard featuring an 8,000Hz polling rate and hot-swappable switch support.

It combines a glass front with a plastic frame and back, but compensates with IP68/IP69K protection, MIL-STD-810H certification, and stronger Mohs level 8 screen protection. It feels like a phone designed to survive daily abuse and challenging environments. The inclusion of an IR blaster also adds a useful extra feature for power users.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro takes a more premium approach with its aircraft-grade aluminum unibody construction, aluminum rear panel, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and signature Glyph lighting system featuring 137 individually addressable LEDs. The design is more distinctive and visually appealing, making it stand out in a crowded market.
Both phones use high-quality AMOLED panels with HDR10+ support and excellent color reproduction. The Nord 6 offers a 165Hz refresh rate, higher PWM dimming, and sharper image rendering. The Phone (4a) Pro counters with slimmer bezels, a larger viewing area, and a remarkable 5000-nit peak brightness.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro feels more premium and unique, while the Nord 6 is clearly tougher and more durable. For display quality, the Nord 6 has the technical edge, but the Nothing device delivers a more modern visual experience.
Performance is one of the biggest differences between these devices. The OnePlus Nord 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 paired with fast UFS 4.1 storage. This flagship-tier chipset delivers significantly stronger CPU and GPU performance, making it better suited for gaming, multitasking, and long-term performance demands. It also benefits from faster wireless standards, including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and UFS 3.1 storage. While it handles everyday tasks smoothly and offers a clean software experience through Nothing OS 4.1, it cannot match the raw power of the Nord 6.
Battery life heavily favors the Nord 6. Its global version packs a 7500mAh battery, while the India model stretches to an enormous 9000mAh capacity. Combined with 80W charging and bypass charging support, endurance is among the best in its class. The Phone (4a) Pro offers a respectable 5080mAh battery globally and 5400mAh in India with 50W charging, but it operates in a different league.
The OnePlus Nord 6 wins comfortably in specifications. It delivers substantially better performance, larger batteries, faster charging, and more future-ready connectivity features.
The camera battle is surprisingly competitive. The OnePlus Nord 6 uses a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. The primary camera should produce reliable daylight and low-light results, but the setup remains relatively straightforward.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro offers a more versatile triple-camera system. Alongside its 50MP main sensor, it includes a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS, plus an 8MP ultrawide lens. The telephoto camera dramatically expands photographic possibilities, especially for portraits and distant subjects. Dolby Vision recording and Ultra XDR processing further enhance its imaging package.
Both devices feature 32MP selfie cameras, but the Nord 6 has autofocus and supports 4K video recording. The Phone (4a) Pro is limited to 1080p selfie video, giving the OnePlus device a noticeable advantage for content creators and video calls.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is the stronger overall camera phone thanks to its excellent periscope telephoto lens and more versatile rear camera system. However, the Nord 6 offers a better selfie experience and higher-quality front-facing video recording.
The OnePlus Nord 6 is priced around $460 or βΉ39,000, while the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is priced around $500 or βΉ40,000. The price difference is relatively small, placing both devices in direct competition for upper mid-range buyers.
Looking strictly at hardware, the Nord 6 delivers exceptional value. Buyers receive a flagship-class Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, significantly larger battery capacity, faster charging, stronger durability ratings, and faster storage while costing slightly less. It is difficult to find another device offering this level of performance at this price.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro justifies its higher price through premium materials, a distinctive design language, the Glyph interface, and a superior camera system featuring a dedicated periscope telephoto lens. The overall experience feels more refined and photography-focused.
For pure value, the OnePlus Nord 6 offers more hardware for the money. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro justifies its premium through design and camera versatility rather than outright specifications.

The OnePlus Nord 6 stands out through its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, enormous battery capacity, 80W charging, bypass charging support, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, superior durability certifications, and stronger display protection. It is clearly built for users who prioritize performance, battery life, and long-term practicality.
The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro differentiates itself with its aluminum unibody design, Glyph lighting interface, cleaner aesthetic, periscope zoom camera, and distinctive software experience. It targets users looking for something different from the typical Android smartphone. The device feels more lifestyle-oriented, while still offering strong everyday performance.
OnePlus Nord 6 is the better overall choice for most buyers. It delivers superior performance, dramatically better battery life, faster charging, and stronger durability while costing slightly less.Β
Nothing Phone (4a) Pro remains the better option for users who prioritize design, software personality, and camera versatility, particularly the dedicated telephoto lens. For all-round value and long-term capability, the Nord 6 holds the advantage.

Recent reports suggest that OnePlus may have cancelled its plans to launch the OnePlus 15s, a compact flagship smartphone for the Indian market. For the uninitiated, the device was believed to be a tweaked version of the OnePlus 15T, which debuted in China earlier this year. While there is no certainty that markets outside China will receive a compact OnePlus phone in the future, a new leak suggests that the company could continue offering such devices in its home market.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, a compact performance-focused smartphone from OnePlus is currently under development. While the tipster did not mention the deviceβs name, it is believed to be the OnePlus 16T.
The device is reportedly being evaluated with Qualcommβs upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which is expected to be manufactured using a 2nm process. It is also said to feature a compact 6.3-inch flat display with a very high refresh rate.
Apart from these details, the rest of the specifications have reportedly not been finalized yet. The tipster added that development is progressing normally, which suggests that the device could launch in the first quarter of 2027, considering that the OnePlus 15T was unveiled in March this year.
While there is speculation that OnePlus may have skipped the OnePlus 15s for global markets this year, it remains to be seen whether the company introduces the OnePlus 16s next year as a tweaked or rebranded version of the China-bound OnePlus 16T.
Should OnePlus return to launching compact flagships in global markets? Let us know in the comments.

Nothing is teasing its next budget phone just days after confirming the CMF Phone 2 Pro successor was scrapped. The company shared a design sketch of the upcoming device today, and while the transparent aesthetic is immediately recognizable, the camera setup signals a more aggressive round of cost-cutting than we had hoped for.
The teaser, shared on X, shows the lines and transparent back panel that Nothing has built its identity around. But what stands out isnβt the design; itβs whatβs missing from it.
(b)usted. pic.twitter.com/b42Lk709lM
β Nothing India (@nothingindia) June 21, 2026
The sketch confirms a single rear camera, something no Nothing phone has shipped with before. The name appears to be settled, too.Β
Nothing confirmed the β4bβ suffix in the video itself, hinting that the Nothing Phone (4b) could be the official name. However, it raises an obvious question: why launch an entry-level device under the Nothing name rather than CMF, the sub-brand the company created specifically for affordable phones?

Nothing hasnβt addressed this directly, but every leak so far points to Nothing Phone (4b), so thatβs the name weβre using until the company says otherwise.
Pricing will be an interesting story to watch. Nothingβs cheapest current phone, the Phone (3a) Lite, launched at Rs 20,999 before quietly climbing to Rs 25,000 after the memory crisis.Β
CMF products have seen similar increases. Co-founder Carl Pei said recently that βmemory is now the most expensive component in a smartphone,β and with costs having doubled twice over since the Phone 4A was greenlit, βaffordableβ increasingly means affordable relative to Nothingβs own lineup, not the broader budget market.
Beyond the camera, expect further hardware compromises. Nothing hasnβt confirmed what else gets trimmed, but a single-sensor setup rarely travels alone.

According to reports, the Oppo Reno 16 lineup includes multiple models, such as the Reno 16c, Reno 16F, Reno 16 FS, Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16 Pro Mini. However, among these, the Indian market is confirmed to receive at least two models as of now, the Reno 16 and Reno 16c.
Today, the brand released a press release to confirm details about the design and display of these models. Meanwhile, the Reno 16F, Reno 16, and Reno 16 Pro are scheduled to debut globally on June 25, while the India launch is expected to take place in early July.

The Reno 16 series introduces a new visual identity centred around what Oppo calls Indiaβs first HoloVerse 3D design. Available on the Starry White version, the finish creates a naked-eye 3D effect that makes a planet-like element appear suspended beneath the rear panel.
The effect changes depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions. Oppo says the design is achieved through a dual-layer optical structure combined with millions of precision microlenses. The lineup also incorporates a floating glitter effect and a redesigned camera ring for added depth. Buyers will be able to choose from Starry White, Twilight Violet, and Stellar Purple color options.
Beyond aesthetics, Oppo is highlighting durability as a key aspect of the Reno 16 series. The devices carry IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for resistance against dust, water immersion, splashes, and high-pressure water exposure. The Reno 16 also adopts an aerospace-grade aluminum frame that is claimed to improve structural strength and drop resistance compared to conventional plastic-frame smartphones.

The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and ultra-slim 1.6mm bezels that contribute to a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Reno 16c arrives with a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED panel, FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches 1,800 nits on the Reno 16 and 1,400 nits on the Reno 16c for improved outdoor visibility.
Despite their large displays and camera systems, the Reno 16 measures 8.22mm thick and weighs 182 grams, while the Reno 16c comes in at 8.44mm and 195 grams. Another notable addition is the AI Snap Key, which debuts on the Reno series for the first time.
The customizable side-mounted button can launch the camera, flashlight, recorder, translator, and other functions. It also works with Oppoβs AI Mind Space platform, which integrates Gemini, Perplexity, and ChatGPT features for saving, organizing, and retrieving information more efficiently.
The brand is also expected to announce the Oppo Bubble accessory and the Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds alongside the Reno 16 and 16c.

Samsung just launched the UFS 5.0 storage solution, which is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 smartphones next year. The new memory chip offers several upgrades over the UFS 4.1, potentially elevating the S27 experience.
Galaxy S26 Ultra features a UFS 4.1 solution, which is mighty enough. Next yearβs flagships would go even further with UFS 5.0 memory paired with LPDDR6 DRAM. On-device AI will land on a whole new level, thanks to these core upgrades.
UFS 5.0 unlocks several key improvements, including faster data speeds, improved efficiency, and a smaller design. With read speeds of up to 10.8GB/s and write speeds reaching 9.5GB/s, it delivers over twice the performance of UFS 4.1.
The new memory standard also reduces power consumption by more than 40%, helping devices manage workloads more efficiently. Its compact 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm package allows more design flexibility.
Additionally, support for capacities up to 1TB makes it suitable for future smartphones, wearables, and other connected devices. Other options could include 256GB and 512GB, paired with next-gen DRAM semiconductor.
Samsung is placing a lot of emphasis on Agentic AI on Galaxy flagships. Galaxy S26 series marked the start, and the Agentic AI would expand further next year. That said, the UFS upgrade in the Galaxy S27 series will improve that aspect.
Software optimization is another way to improve the experience. Samsungβs One UI 9.5 optimization with Galaxy S27βs LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0 hardware would bring practical enhancements to the UX.
Samsung hasnβt officially confirmed UFS 5.0 for the Galaxy S27 series. However, the timeline of mass production aligns with the next-gen flagships. 2027 would witness the official debut of new premium phones with modern hardware.

AI is becoming the biggest selling point in the premium smartphone category. GenAI-capable smartphones are projected to represent 45% of shipments in 2026, up from 36% in 2025, with Apple and Samsung driving the upgrade cycle.
By 2027, that figure is expected to cross 52%, turning generative AI from a premium feature into a mainstream expectation. Samsung and Apple are positioned at the center of this transition.
Both companies are trying to convince users that AI, not another camera upgrade or faster processor, is the reason to replace an existing smartphone.
According to Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments are expected to fall 13.9% year over year in 2026 to 1.08 billion units, marking the lowest level on record.
Samsung moved earlier than most competitors with Galaxy AI, building a broader AI experience around features such as generative photo editing, live translation, writing assistance, and more contextual interactions.
Apple is taking a different route. With the iPhone 17 series, Apple expanded its AI capabilities across nearly its entire smartphone lineup. The upgraded Siri has Gemini capabilities at its core, handled by Apple systems.
Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak noted that GenAI capability has already become common in high-end smartphones above the $400 wholesale price point, but the industry still faces a major challenge.
Consumers have already seen AI photo editing, translation tools, and productivity features. The next step is convincing users that these capabilities save time or change how they interact with their phones.
A smartphone that can summarize information, manage daily tasks, understand personal context, and take useful actions without constant input could create a stronger upgrade reason.
![]()
Counterpoint Senior Analyst Karn Chauhan highlighted that Google Gemini has become a major foundation layer for premium smartphone AI, supporting experiences across Samsung, Apple, and other global smartphone brands.
Samsung and Apple are both protecting their own advantages. Samsung combines Galaxy AI with its Android ecosystem and hardware portfolio, while Apple relies on its tight software and device integration.
The next phase of the smartphone market will not be decided by who adds the most AI features to a spec sheet. It will be decided by which company can make AI genuinely useful every day while keeping devices affordable enough.

Samsung Display, the sole OLED display supplier for the foldable iPhone, has reportedly begun mass production of panels after receiving Apple approval.
Appleβs display supply chain is heavily leaning on South Korea, with Samsung Display and LG Display occupying the majority of the stake. Chinese vendor BOE has reportedly been ousted from the iPhone 18 Pro display supply.
Now, Apple has given the green light to Samsung Display to kickstart OLED production for its first foldable iPhone. The Korean tech giant is said to have secured more than 80 percent as the final yield, surpassing the standard.
The report (via SemiconductorsX) suggests that Samsung Display began initial mass production by activating a portion of its post-processing lines in Vietnam. The company plans to supply 3 million foldable OLEDs as the initial batch this year.
One thing that caught attention is that Samsung Display and Apple agreed to keep their strategic foldable OLED supply deal locked for three years. No other OLED vendor would be able to join the specific supply chain for three years.
Appleβs foldable iPhone would not just sell well, but also push the segment to new heights. Samsung will be facing tough competition and declining sales too, but itβs good for the market as consumers will benefit after all.
The iPhone foldable could come with a display featuring M16 OLED material set, polarizer-free Color filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology, and a 3D-printed hinge module, with launch expected in September this year.
An industry insider stated, βI understand that Apple is experiencing difficulties in stabilizing the production of the hinge module for its first foldable phone. There are no issues on Samsung Displayβs end, and the release schedule depends entirely on Appleβs readiness regarding set components, especially the hinge.β

3. Over 40% better power efficiency
Samsung improved UFS 5.0 power efficiency by over 40% compared to UFS 4.1. New technologies such as clock gating and multi-voltage support help reduce power consumption during data transfers.
4. Smaller design for more flexible devices
The UFS 5.0 package measures just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm, making it 16.7% smaller than its predecessor. The compact size gives manufacturers more flexibility for smartphone, wearable, and XR device designs.
5. Up to 1TB storage capacity support
Samsungβs UFS 5.0 solution will be available in capacities reaching up to 1TB. This provides future devices with more room for apps, media, files, and advanced software experiences while maintaining high-speed performance.
Looking ahead, Samsungβs UFS 5.0 is expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series. The Pro and Ultra models are the strongest contenders in 2027.

According to a new rumor, a new smartphone brand will be launched in India in the near future. This won't be a new company, but instead it's actually Fire-Boltt expanding into the smartphone market. According to one of the most prolific and well-known tipsters on Weibo, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will get the much-rumored main camera upgrade. Actually, he says it's "confirmed". This will result in the camera bump's thickness being increased by approximately 2mm. The iPhone 18 Pro (and the iPhone 18 Pro Max) have long been rumored to get a main camera with a variable aperture, and that alone could explain this size increase. There's also a chance...

Samsung named its first wave of launch partners for a new interactive video ad format on Samsung TV Plus, built on Amazon Ads remote-enabled tech. Brands including Boiron USA, Logitech, PLAION, PMG, and Reckitt are first in line.
Watch a show, see an ad, click your remote, buy the thing.Β For brands selling on Amazon, viewers can add items to their Amazon cart straight from the TV. For everyone else, there are softer calls to action like βSend to Phoneβ or βSign Up Today.β
Amazon Ads has its own numbers; itβs been circulating: interactive video drives six times higher brand searches, four times more add-to-cart actions, and five times higher purchase rates compared to standard formats.
Brands poured money into streaming inventory, called it full-funnel strategy, and quietly accepted that the bottom of that funnel was somewhere else entirely. Samsung and Amazon are now charging for the privilege of closing that gap.
Logitech, Reckitt, and Boiron all dropped quotes about discovery and frictionless paths to purchase. Every one of those brands is watching e-commerce fragment across screens and trying desperately not to miss the moment.
Samsung TV Plus inventory is activated through Amazon DSP, which means advertisers get Samsungβs FAST environment paired with Amazonβs shopping and browsing signals.
Additionally, Samsung announced that the TV Plus platform crossed 100 million monthly active users this year.

Samsungβs One UI 9.0 Beta is already running on the Galaxy S26, and most of the coverage has gone to the creative tools and accessibility changes. The security upgrades have been quieter, but theyβre worth understanding.
New security features of One UI 9 are inspired by Android 17. Google has long been focused on security and privacy aspects, and version 17 is no exception. One UI 9 has three big improvements for security.
Android 17βs contacts picker limits what data apps can see in the first place. Auto Blockerβs high-risk detection stops dangerous apps from running even after theyβve landed on the device.
The Security Report gives you visibility over whatβs been blocked. Maximum Restrictions closes the physical attack surface for users who need that level of control.
Previous versions of Auto Blocker were largely preventive; they stopped you from installing apps from unauthorized sources. In One UI 9, the Auto Blocker can detect a high-risk app thatβs already on your device and stop it from running.
When something trips the detection, you get a warning, the app is blocked from executing or installing further components, and the system recommends deletion.
A companion feature called Manage Unknown Apps handles the discovery side of this. It gathers every app installed from outside the Play Store or Galaxy Store into one place.
![]()
Auto Blocker has been part of One UI since version 6, but itβs always worked silently. However, Samsungβs new One UI 9 changes that with a Security Report section inside Auto Blocker.
It logs every time the system blocks an app from an unknown source. The last seven days show up as a list; switch to the Month tab, and you get a graph. Itβs a small UX addition, but it makes the feature visible in a way it never has been before.
Auto Blockerβs Maximum Restrictions mode is the strictest setting. In One UI 8.5, that mode blocked USB commands but left the physical connection open. In One UI 9, Maximum Restrictions cuts off the USB connection entirely.
This prevents unexpected attacks where a compromised public charging port attempts to push data or software to your phone, andΒ physical data-extraction attempts that work at the hardware level rather than through software.
Well, itβs an opt-in mode, not a default.

SK Hynix, this Monday, broke a 25-year Samsung record of being the most valuable company in South Korea. Riding the AI boom and HBM memory success, SK Hynix outclassed Samsung for the first time in its home ground.
According toΒ KEDGlobal, SK Hynix market share surpassed Samsung Electronics, snatching a 25-year crown on June 22. Shares of the βnowβ most valuable company closed up 5.6%, lifting its market capitalisation to $1.35 trillion.
On the other hand, Samsungβs stock eased 0.14% to give it a βmarket value of 2,066.7 trillion won, excluding preferred shares. Despite a broad business portfolio, Samsung surrendered its crown to SK Hynix due to the AI wave.
However, the Galaxy maker stated that its market cap should include preferred shares. Including those shares, the companyβs β value as of the market close stood at 2,246.4 trillion won, which is still ahead of SK Hynix.
βThe emergence of customised AI memory fundamentally changed the industryβs economics and allowed SK Hynix to establish itself as the market leader,β said Kim Sunwoo, a senior analyst at Meritz Securities.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has started mass production of FC-BGA substrates for Qualcomm AI200 at its Busan plant. Qualcomm is targeting a second-half 2026 launch; Samsung Electro-Mechanics is moving in lockstep.
The AI200 is Qualcommβs first AI accelerator built specifically for data centers, unveiled last October. It pairs a custom Oryon CPU with a Hexagon NPU and runs on LPDDR5 memory, which trades raw bandwidth for power efficiency.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has spent years supplying package substrates for Qualcommβs application processors in phones and PCs. The AI200 deal marks the first time that the relationship bleeds into data center silicon.
Industry insiders say (via ZD Net) that the long-standing relationship made the AI200 supply agreement a relatively clean negotiation.
The AI250 is reportedly coming in 2027, which means Samsung Electro-Mechanics could be stacking recurring data center revenue on top of its mobile base.
The AI200 requires a lower performance threshold for FC-BGA compared to High Bandwidth Memory (HBM)-based AI accelerators. Therefore, the barrier to entry will be relatively low for LG Innotek, which is a latecomer to the FC-BGA industry.

Apple reportedly handed Samsung Display and LG Display of South Korea a big OLED display opportunity for the iPhone 18 Pro, foldable iPhone, and MacBook Pro.
The US tech giant appears to have exited China, for now, for OLED display supply. Korean firms, Samsung Display and LG Display, likely dominate the OLED display supply for the next-generation Apple products.
According toΒ SemiconductorsX, Samsung Display and LG Display may supply all OLED panels for all the Apple devices coming in 2026. The two Korean companies have grabbed a 100 percent share, and itβs a big blow to Chinaβs BOE.
Apple usually sourced OLEDs from BOE for the standard iPhone model. The company plans to postpone the standard iPhone release to early 2027. This yearβs event could only bring the Pro and Pro Max models of iPhone.
iPhone 18 Pro line is expected to launch in September, and the Korean display suppliers have reportedly begun mass production of the panels.
BOE tried much, but Apple ended up excluding BOE from the premium OLED supply. The Chinese firm now have to wait for a few months as the standard model could be postponed.
In addition to iPhone 18 Pro models, Samsung Display and LG Display have secured huge orders for the next-generation iPad Mini and iPhone Ultra (the first foldable product from Apple).
Samsung could begin producing OLED displays for MacBook Pro next month as it aims to get its new production line functioning. Meanwhile, LG Display has secured the entire stack of OLED supply for the Apple Watch 12.

Privacy Display is one of the most discussed mobile innovations of 2026. Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a hardware-level Privacy display feature, and if the rumors are true, the Galaxy S27 Pro may also bring this technology.
Samsungβs Privacy display feature is an innovative masterpiece. Itβs backed by Samsung Displayβs Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology. One UI atop hardware allows some decent tools to meet personal preferences.
Galaxy S26 Ultra is the first phone that comes with such a feature. When enabled, the OLED tweaks pixel lighting to dim the screen visibility from side views. It safeguards the on-screen content for others, while keeping the panel visible for the user.
Weibo leakerΒ DCS revealed that Samsung is testing Privacy display on the Galaxy S27 Pro. The feature hasnβt been finalized yet, so we arenβt very hopeful, as the company has a history of reserving trending techs.
Galaxy S27 Pro reportedly boasts a 6.47-inch screen. Itβs just a new screen size, which is completely different from previous flagships. That said, the phone will be a compact monster, while getting Ultra-level hardware capabilities.
Meanwhile, if the Galaxy S27 Pro gets a Privacy screen, the start of 2027 would witness a simultaneous launch of two flagships with the technology. 2026 brought one, but 2027 might be different, if the rumors hold.

Galaxy Watch 9 will look familiar, but the design refinements are worth welcoming. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is getting some incredible revisions that influence its overall appearance and fix the biggest flaw of the OG model.
Samsung has made the Ultra Watch boxier than the OG model. The smartwatch reportedly features Classic-like clock numbering. The bezels are going thinner, the side button area is improved, and the Quick button color has adopted an Orange outline.
Samsung would bring its smartwatches in three colors, including Black, Silver, and Beige.Β GalaxyTechie shared even more insights, including band colors and designs, which are as follows:

Coolpad has introduced a new budget smartphone in China called the Coolpad Cool 80. Aimed at entry-level buyers, the device combines a familiar design with a capable chipset and a high-refresh-rate display. The launch marks another attempt by the brand to strengthen its presence in the affordable smartphone segment.

The Coolpad Cool 80 features a 6.7-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen adopts a punch-hole design on the front, while the phone measures 168.5 x 76.3 x 8.2mm.
Under the hood, the handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, a chipset that has appeared in several affordable and mid-range devices over the past few years. The phone comes with 6GB of physical RAM and supports an additional 8GB of virtual RAM expansion. It ships with 128GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for additional storage.
For photography, the Coolpad Cool 80 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The official images show that the Cool 80 sports an iPhone-inspired design on the back bu,t still has a different look due to differently arranged cameras.

The phone is currently listed on JD.com, with official images revealing most of its specifications, except for its battery. The JD listing mentions a 4,000mAh battery with 10W charging, which seems quite low for a phone of this size and compared to many contemporary smartphones on the market. Therefore, it remains unclear whether the battery and charging details are accurate.
The Coolpad Cool 80 has been launched in a single 6GB + 128GB variant priced at 819 Yuan, which converts to roughly $120. The smartphone is currently available in China through local retail channels and online platforms. Buyers can choose from three color options: Rock Sand Black, Dune Orange, and Gauze White.
As of now, there is no clarity on whether the Coolpad Cool 80 will be introduced in international markets. The company has not announced any plans regarding a wider rollout, so global availability remains uncertain.

High-end PC parts are built to handle serious heat and power, but even flagship gear can throw some surprises after months of heavy use. A recent report shows an ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 leaving noticeable discoloration on the chipset (PCH) heatsink of a high-end ASUS motherboard.

The story comes from a user on a Taiwanese hardware forum. They were running an all-ASUS setup: the ROG Astral RTX 5090 paired with a ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi motherboard inside a ProArt PA602 case. After about six months, when they pulled the GPU out, they saw clear marks on the PCH heatsink right underneath where the card sits. Some of the discoloration wiped off with a damp cloth, but not everything.

This really highlights just how much heat the RTX 5090 can pump out. NVIDIA rates it at 575W TDP, and under heavy gaming, AI workloads, or big transients, it can go even higher. That big triple-fan cooler on the Astral pushes heat downward, and if your case airflow isnβt great, it can bake nearby components over time.
Motherboard heatsinks are meant to tolerate high temperatures. The bigger concern is the chips beneath them. Prolonged concentrated heat can shorten the lifespan of those components, potentially affecting the motherboardβs overall longevity.
The ROG Astral has had some other headlines since launch, including melting 16-pin power connectors, black screen problems, and a few isolated early incidents like a capacitor fire. There were also reports of some early cards shipping with missing raster units. ASUS added better power monitoring on their premium models, but these kinds of growing pains come with pushing next-gen hardware this hard.
If youβre running a 5090 (especially for long AI sessions, content creation, or heavy gaming), itβs smart to keep a close eye on your case temps and airflow. Make sure everythingβs well-ventilated, cables are properly seated, and check for any weird hot spots from time to time.
So far this sounds like an isolated case, but itβs a good reminder that these ultra-high-power cards run hot.

The Xiaomi 18 series is already beginning to surface through leaks months ahead of its expected debut. Recent information from well-known Chinese tipsters points to several upgrades across the lineup, suggesting that Xiaomi may focus on display technology, privacy features and camera improvements for its next-generation flagship phones.

According to details shared by tipsters Digital Chat Station and Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is testing a new flagship Pro model equipped with a next-generation 2K display and integrated privacy protection technology. The feature is said to combine hardware and software solutions to prevent nearby people from viewing on-screen content, offering enhanced protection for messages, passwords and other sensitive information.
While the device was not named directly, speculation points to the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The leak follows reports that Samsung is also exploring similar privacy display solutions for future Galaxy flagship devices, indicating that privacy-focused screens could become a new trend in the premium smartphone segment.

Smart Pikachu recently claimed that the Xiaomi 18 series is currently scheduled to launch in September. The lineup is expected to retain Xiaomiβs secondary rear display concept while introducing a customized 200-megapixel LOFIC main camera. The phones are also tipped to feature displays with larger corner radii, an effective 2K resolution and higher peak brightness compared to the previous generation.
On the software side, the Xiaomi 18 family is expected to run HyperOS 4. Leaks suggest the interface could introduce a new light-inspired visual style while bringing deeper AI integration across applications. Speaking of AI integration, recent reports have revealed that the series will feature a dedicated AI button.
As of now, Xiaomi has not confirmed any of these details. However, if the leaks prove accurate, the Xiaomi 18 series could arrive with one of the biggest display and privacy upgrades seen on a Xiaomi flagship in recent years. What do you think about privacy display technology, and is this the feature you are most excited to see on the Xiaomi 18 Pro?

Last year, OnePlus launched its first compact flagship, the OnePlus 13T, in China. A tweaked version of the device later arrived in India as the OnePlus 13s. The company appeared set to follow the same strategy this year after unveiling the OnePlus 15T in China in March. This led to speculation that India would receive a rebadged or slightly modified version called the OnePlus 15s. However, recent developments suggest those plans may no longer be in place.

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus 15s is not expected to launch in India. The claim suggests that the device has effectively been cancelled for the market, although no official explanation has been shared by the company. If accurate, this would mark a notable shift from OnePlusβ approach last year, when the 13T successfully made its way to India under the 13s branding.
The timing of the rumor is particularly interesting. OnePlus unveiled the 13s in June last year in India, and that launch window has already passed as June 2026 approaches its final days. Instead of teasing a compact flagship, the brandβs attention has been focused on the upcoming OnePlus N6 series, which is scheduled to launch in India on June 30.
The leak also raises questions about OnePlusβ broader flagship roadmap. While the OnePlus 16 is widely expected to debut in China in September, there is reportedly no final decision yet regarding its release in India. That said, it would be surprising if the companyβs main flagship skipped one of its most important markets.
September is expected to be a busy month for the smartphone industry, with several major Chinese brands preparing next-generation flagship launches. If the OnePlus 16 arrives as expected, it will likely compete directly with premium offerings from rival manufacturers during a highly competitive launch season.

Xiaomi is reportedly working on the Xiaomi Pad 9 series of flagship tablets. Initial reports suggest that the lineup may include two models, namely the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro. In a new development, tipster Kacper Skrzypek has accessed the HyperOS code to reveal some details about the Pad 9.

The tipster revealed that the standard Xiaomi Pad 9 has model numbers M656BA, 26103RP65G, and 26103RP65I. The β2610β numbering suggests that the Pad 9 series could be planned to break cover in October this year.
Skrzypek also revealed through the HyperOS code that the Pad 9 will pack a 9,720mAh battery. In comparison, the Pad 8 has a smaller 9,200mAh battery. It is also being said that the tablet may feature the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip that powers the previous generation.
According to a report from December, the Pad 9 will receive a wider launch, but the Pad 9 Pro may miss a major market, India. It is being said that the Pro edition may come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. Hopefully, upcoming reports will reveal more details about the Pad 9 models.
While the Pad 9βs model number suggests an October launch, there is a possibility that it may debut earlier in China. To recall, the Pad 8 lineup was announced alongside the Xiaomi 17 series of flagship phones in September 2025. Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 18 family will launch in September in China. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Pad 9 series may go official alongside the Xiaomi 18 lineup.

Red Magic has officially revealed the design of its upcoming Gaming Tablet 5 Pro ahead of its scheduled launch later this month. The new gaming-focused tablet introduces a distinctive visual identity that separates it from conventional tablets, while also hinting at the high-performance hardware packed inside. The company has now shared a closer look at the device, giving enthusiasts an early glimpse of what to expect.

The Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will be available in black and silver color options. Its standout feature is a transparent rear panel that exposes parts of the internal cooling structure, creating a more futuristic appearance. The tablet also integrates an RGB lighting system linked to the cooling setup, with lighting effects that respond to performance activity during use.
The frame houses standard volume controls along with a dedicated red-colored hardware button positioned on the side. On the front, the tablet adopts a full-screen design without any visible display cut-outs. Combined with slim bezels, the layout is aimed at delivering a more immersive viewing and gaming experience.

Red Magic has confirmed that the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro features a 9-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1504 pixels. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, which should help provide smoother visuals in fast-paced games. Compared to traditional LCD panels, the OLED screen is expected to offer deeper contrast, richer colours and faster response times.
Under the hood, the tablet is powered by Qualcommβs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship processor. To keep temperatures under control during extended gaming sessions, the device pairs the chipset with an active liquid-cooling system. It is also expected to pack up to 24GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and an 8,300mAh battery with fast charging support.

Samsungβs 2026 Galaxy S26 series was expected to introduce a Galaxy S26 Pro as part of a lineup restructuring. It was expected to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus. However, as we later covered, those plans did not go ahead, and Samsung kept its usual naming for the S26 series. The Pro model simply did not happen.Β
Now, a new leak from a reliable source suggests Samsung hasnβt scrapped the idea altogether and is instead working on the Galaxy S27 Pro. Words for it come from insider Digital Chat Station on Weibo, who shared screen details of the upcoming flagship.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Galaxy S27 Pro will have a 6.47-inch display, comparatively smaller than the S26 Plusβ 6.7-inch screen. It will also include a hardware-level privacy screen, which Samsung kept exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.Β
A hardware privacy screen limits the viewing angles of the display, so people around you cannot easily see what is on your screen.Β

The same leak also points to the Galaxy S27 Ultra coming with a 6.89-inch 2K display that also includes privacy screen functionality.
An interesting claim from the tipster is that Samsung is reportedly not planning to supply this display technology to other manufacturers for now, meaning Apple, which also sources displays for iPhones from Samsung, may not have access to it, at least in the near term.
These are early-stage leaks, and Samsungβs plans have changed before β the S26 Pro situation being the best example. Itβs best to take these details with a pinch of salt.

Acer has released a new wired gaming headset in China, and the main talking point is simply how little it costs. The Acer OHW201 is currently listed on JD.com with a standard retail price of 69 yuan, which converts to about $10.

The OHW201 uses 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers. These are tuned to provide a clear soundstage with distinct mids and enough bass to help players pick up on standard in-game audio cues like footsteps or environmental noises. It also includes support for 7.1 virtual surround sound, a software-based spatial audio feature meant to help with directional sound positioning during multiplayer matches.

The headset uses a closed-back acoustic design, which provides passive noise isolation to block out regular room noise. To make the headset comfortable to wear for a few hours at a time, Acer went with a floating dual-headband design. The over-ear cups feature cooling cushions made from a layered mix of memory foam, a breathable ventilation layer, and a skin-friendly fabric.
For voice chat, the OHW201 includes a 360-degree omnidirectional microphone. Acer says the mic uses intelligent voice pickup to filter out background noise, which should make it fine for standard Discord calls or multiplayer lobbies. Aesthetically, it looks like a typical gaming headset, complete with dynamic RGB lighting on the earcups. It comes in both black and white color options.

On the technical side, the OHW201 connects via a standard 1.8-meter cable. It has an impedance of 16Ξ© Β±10%, a sensitivity of 95Β±3dB, and a microphone sensitivity of -42Β±3dB.
In related news, Lenovo has recently launched the Legion Y960 gaming headset featuring physical 7.1 surround sound and a detachable microphone.

Only four months after the launch of the HMD Luma 4G, its successor has already surfaced online with renders and key specifications.

According to reliable tipster smashx_60, the HMD Luma2 comes with a big 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. On the front, thereβs an 8MP selfie camera. Around the back, you get a 50MP main sensor plus a secondary lens for everyday photos.
Power comes from the Unisoc T7280 processor (basically a rebranded T620). Itβs an octa-core chip with two performance cores and six efficiency ones, paired with 4GB of RAM (which can be virtually expanded) and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You can expand it further with a microSD card.
Battery life should be good enough thanks to a hefty 6000mAh cell with 18W wired charging. Other handy features include a 3.5mm headphone jack and Nokiaβs OZO Audio technology for better sound. Itβll be available in three colors: Ice Blue, Light Sand, and Midnight Lake.
The Luma2 builds on HMDβs successful partnerships with M-Kopa. M-Kopaβs pay-as-you-go system has helped a lot of people in emerging markets get smartphones by bundling the phone with data, insurance, and other perks.

HMD has been smart about releasing region-specific and carrier-branded phones lately to reach more people. Weβre still waiting on full details like exact pricing, full software support, and launch timing, but everything points to an affordable, reliable option coming soon.
For folks in M-Kopaβs main markets, the Luma2 could be a great way to get a smooth 120Hz display and strong battery life without spending a lot. Itβll be interesting to see how this customized version compares to the predecessor and other budget phones once itβs official.

Casio is releasing four new G-Shock watches in the US market as part of its new Bold Camo series. The collection originally launched earlier this month in Japan, which received a broader six-model lineup, but the US release is limited to four specific models. As a promotional add-on, Casio is currently including a free camouflage pouch with purchases.

The main design update across the four watches is a green camouflage pattern printed onto the resin bands and bezels, which integrates a hidden G-mark logo into the design. Aside from the cosmetic changes, all four models retain the standard specifications expected from the G-Shock line, including physical shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance.

The entry point for the new US lineup is the DW-6900CMG-3, priced at $145. It uses the classic 6900 digital silhouette with a standard resin case and bezel. It features a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, and an LED backlight, running on a CR2016 battery estimated to last five years.

Stepping up to $165 is the GA-700CMG-3A, an analog-digital hybrid. It features a larger 57.5mm case and incorporates gold-colored vapor deposition on the dial and hands. It includes world time functionality across 31 time zones and a hand-shift feature to temporarily move the analog hands away from the digital display.

The GA-V01CMG-3A costs $210 and is also an analog-digital model, but its primary hardware difference is a much longer battery life. It uses a CR2025 battery rated for approximately 10 years of use. It also features a double LED light system to separately illuminate both the analog face and the digital readout.

The most expensive model in the lineup is the GM-6900CMG-3 at $280. It shares the exact same digital functionality and five-year battery life as the DW-6900, but it replaces the standard resin bezel with a stainless steel one. The metal bezel is finished with multiple polishing techniques, coated with a gold-colored ion plating, and uses partial laser etching to apply the camouflage pattern directly onto the metal.
All four watches are available to purchase now through Casioβs website and standard retail channels.

We are halfway through 2026, and the trend of stepping away from smartphones is still going strong. People are increasingly looking for ways to cut down on screen time, but that doesnβt mean they want to carry around a clunky, poorly designed piece of plastic. The current lineup of feature phones shows that you can disconnect and simplify your tech without giving up on good design.
If youβre looking to downsize your digital life this June, here are a few stylish feature phones that stand out.

If you want to cut back on screen time but arenβt quite ready to give up modern conveniences like group chats, the HMD Touch 4G is a practical middle ground. It comes in a nice Cyan or Dark Blue and has a compact, clean design that easily fits in a pocket.
Instead of a traditional keypad, it uses a small 3.2-inch touchscreen. It runs a lightweight operating system with cloud-based apps, meaning you can still use the Express Chat app for video calls, send voice notes, or check the weather over a 4G LTE or Wi-Fi connection. Itβs a solid option if you want a simpler device that doesnβt completely cut you off from how your friends and family communicate today.

If you want a device that feels more like a fun accessory than a piece of tech, the HMD Barbie Phone is a great fit. Itβs a bright pink flip phone that leans heavily into early 2000s nostalgia.
It comes with interchangeable back covers, stick-on gems, and a beaded lanyard with charms, allowing you to customize the hardware to your liking. Inside, the software is customized with a Barbie theme and includes simple features like digital balance tips and a Malibu Snake game.
The device has a 2.8-inch main display, a 1.77-inch outer display, a 0.3MP rear camera, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a removable 1450mAh battery. It also supports 4G connectivity.
Itβs a very basic phone at its core. You wonβt find social media apps here, but itβs designed to be a fun, highly customizable accessory for when you want to leave your main phone at home and just be reachable by call or text.

There is still something satisfying about ending a call by physically snapping a phone shut, and the Nokia 2660 Flip 4G brings that familiar feeling back. Available in straightforward colors like Red, Blue, and Black, it has a classic, ergonomic design that just works.
It features a 2.8-inch inner screen and a 1.77-inch outer display, so you can check who is calling before you decide to open it. The buttons are large and easy to press, and it includes practical hardware features like a dedicated emergency contact button and a built-in FM radio. Itβs a reliable, straightforward device for anyone who just wants to make clear 4G calls and send texts without any extra fuss.

For anyone who remembers the era of dedicated music phones, the Nokia 5310 is a familiar sight. It brings back the old Xpress-Music design, complete with physical music control buttons on the side and dual front-facing speakers. It comes in high-contrast Black/Red and White/Red color combinations.
Itβs worth noting that this is a 2G-only device, so itβs strictly for basic calls, texts, and listening to audio. You can load up a MicroSD card with MP3s or listen to the wireless FM radio. With a battery that can last for weeks on standby, itβs a good choice if your main goal is having a portable music player that can occasionally take a phone call.

Oppo is gearing up to launch the Reno 16 lineup in multiple markets, including Europe and Southeast Asia. Teasers for the series have also appeared in India through the companyβs official website, Flipkart, and Amazon. These listings indicate that the brand will launch multiple devices alongside the Reno 16 series.

The image available on the above-mentioned platforms hints at the arrival of the Reno 16, along with what appears to be the Oppo Bubble accessory and the Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds. For those unaware, the Oppo Bubble is a magnetic, circular AMOLED display that attaches to the back of a smartphone and works as a viewfinder for capturing high-quality selfies using the phoneβs rear cameras.
The Oppo Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds will be positioned below the existing Enco Air 5 Pro, which is priced at Rs 4,999 in the Indian market.
Reports have revealed that the Oppo Reno 16 lineup includes multiple models, such as the Reno 16c, Reno 16F, Reno 16 FS, Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and Reno 16 Pro Mini. However, it appears that not all of these models will be available in every market. As for India, the brand may initially launch the Reno 16 and Reno 16c.
As far as the launch date is concerned, Oppo India has yet to confirm it. However, the brandβs global division has already revealed that the Reno 16 series will be announced on June 26 in Spain and Thailand.

Foldable smartphones are entering a new phase, with several brands preparing wider-format devices to compete in the premium segment. While Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide in July, Chinese smartphone makers are also believed to be working on similar products. Oppo is among them, and after key details of its upcoming wide foldable surfaced earlier this month, a new leak has shed more light on the companyβs future plans.

Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu has claimed that Oppoβs next-generation wide foldable phone, which is tentatively called the Oppo Find N7 Wide, could arrive with display technology aimed at making the crease significantly less visible. The tipster also suggested that the device may feature a horizontally arranged camera module on the rear.
The same source also claimed the Oppo Find X10 Ultra is being tested with an ultra-thin bezel design that could deliver a more immersive viewing experience. In addition, it is said to feature a circular rear camera module, continuing a design language that has become familiar across several premium Chinese flagships.
Earlier this month, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that Oppo was testing a new book-style wide foldable phone that could debut in the first quarter of 2027. The prototype was said to feature a foldable inner display measuring around 7.6 inches alongside a 5.5-inch cover screen. Samsung Display and BOE were reportedly involved in panel development.
The same leak claimed that the device could be powered by Qualcommβs upcoming Β Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset built on a 2nm process. Oppo is also said to be developing a new-generation hinge mechanism designed to further minimise the display crease, a claim that now appears to align with Smart Pikachuβs latest comments.

Security researchers just dropped news of a pretty serious hardware vulnerability in some older Apple chips. It affects a bunch of still-popular iPhones, iPads, and other devices, and unfortunately, thereβs no software fix possible.

The security firm Paradigm Shift recently published a detailed report and a working proof-of-concept for an exploit they call usbliter8. It targets the SecureROM (the unchangeable boot code baked directly into the processor) on devices with A12, A13, S4, and S5 chips.
The usbliter8 exploit hits models like:
The good news? It doesnβt touch the Secure Enclave, so your passcode and encryption keys should stay protected. Itβs also not something a random thief on the street could easily pull off. It needs some technical know-how and direct access to the device. Also note that older A11 devices (like the iPhone 8 and X) arenβt affected, and newer A14 chips and beyond seem safe from this particular attack.
Paradigm Shift worked with Apple before going public. Because the flaw lives in the hardware-level code burned into the silicon during manufacturing, Apple canβt patch it with a software update. Their main advice is basically: consider upgrading to a newer device if security is a big concern for you.
For most regular people who use strong passcodes and donβt leave their phones unattended with strangers, the real-world risk is still pretty low. But if youβre using one of these older devices for work or sensitive stuff, itβs worth thinking about.
As word spreads, expect the jailbreak community to get excited, while Apple focuses on making future chips even tougher.

Google just dropped Android 17 in mid-June 2026, and it started rolling out to Pixel phones with all sorts of promises: better performance, new AI features, and smoother everything. For a lot of people, though, the excitement didnβt last long. Pretty quickly, users started flooding Reddit, X, and the usual forums with complaints about two big headaches: wonky touchscreens and flaky 5G connections.

The touchscreen issue
Some folks say their phones just stop responding to taps and swipes for random stretches. Others are dealing with something even stranger called βgesture inversion,β where swiping up scrolls the screen down, and vice versa. Itβs bizarre, and it only started after the Android 17 update.

Itβs hitting a wide range of Pixels, especially the new Pixel 10 series, along with the 9, 8, and 7 models. Pixel 6 users seem less affected so far, but itβs still early. The good news? It doesnβt look like a specific hardware problem, which suggests itβs a software glitch from the update itself.
A few people have found temporary relief by turning βSmooth Displayβ (the variable refresh rate setting) off and back on, but itβs not a guaranteed fix. Google has a solid history of squashing these kinds of Pixel bugs pretty fast through monthly updates, so thereβs hope a proper patch is already in the works. That said, as of writing, Google has acknowledged the issue but hasnβt released a fix yet.
5G and WiFi connectivity problems
On top of that, plenty of users (particularly on Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 8 Pro, 8a, and even some 6a models) lost their 5G completely after updating. The phones drop down to LTE or lose signal altogether. Some are also seeing missing eSIM profiles after restarts and Wi-Fi networks that refuse to reconnect automatically. Several core Google apps (including the Google app, YouTube, Gmail, Play Store, Google Keep, and Google Photos) are also failing to load or function properly on Wi-Fi.
The Pixel community moderators have a decent workaround for now: Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset mobile network settings. It wipes your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data configs (but not your apps or personal stuff), so youβll have to set everything up again. A lot of people say this brings their 5G back.
If youβre running into these problems, the best thing you can do is report them through the feedback tool built directly into the system settings or in the official Pixel community forums. The more reports Google gets, the faster they usually move.

Samsung is giving OpenAIβs ChatGPT CodexΒ to every employee in its Device eXperience division worldwide, plus every worker in Korea across the full company.
OpenAI is calling it one of its largest enterprise deployments ever. Samsungβs DX division alone spans tens of thousands of people across continents, covering everything from Galaxy phones to home appliances.
As announced by OpenAI, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex are available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all Device eXperience (DX) employees worldwide.
Codex started as a code-writing tool, but Samsung isnβt deploying it only to engineers sitting in front of IDEs. Marketing teams, product developers, manufacturing staff, and anyone with a workflow that could benefit from automation are in scope.
![]()
An employee with zero coding background can theoretically describe what they want and get working software back.
ChatGPT Enterprise is bundled into the deal alongside Codex, covering the knowledge work side: research, drafting, data interpretation, and internal documentation.
Codex can enhance not only developer productivity through tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code, but also the productivity of non-technical teams in their day-to-day work.
The enterprise tier brings security controls and access management, which matters a lot when youβre Samsung and your employees are touching product roadmaps and supply chain data daily.
The relationship between the two companies was already bigger than most people realized. Samsung has been supplying advanced memory chips to OpenAI for next-generation AI infrastructure.
This deployment stretches that partnership into a completely different direction: workforce transformation, internal tooling, the day-to-day mechanics of how 300,000-plus employees actually get work done.

Samsung Music app is getting a fresh update at the start of this week, bringing two design changes to its Widgets. While the update is available for everyone, the changes are applied to the latest One UI versions (8.5 and 9.0).
Galaxy users must have the Samsung Music app on their devices. Itβs available on Galaxy Store and boosts the media player experience. The application actively receives new updates with bug fixes and UI enhancements.
With the latest update, Samsung Music has improved the visibility of interactive elements. The widget itself has gone a little bigger in the latest version. The size increase offers more space for the elements to brace the padding.
Additionally, the 3Γ1 layout has been replaced with a 4Γ1 style. The previous version allowed both 3Γ1 and 4Γ1 designs on the home screen, but the newer iteration restricts the customization, making 2Γ2 and 4Γ1 the only layouts.
![]()
3Γ1 was indeed an option, but it never looked good on the homescreen. The 4Γ1 design is actually better, but Samsung shouldnβt have removed the 3Γ1 option as it was indeed a choice of many who want this anyway.
Instead of dumping 3Γ1, Samsung should have renamed the 3Γ1 to 4Γ1 in the Widgets Gallery. The 4Γ1 layout has been available on Galaxy devices for a long time.
The overall appearance remains the same on the latest version as well. Samsung has only made changes to the layout and sizing of the horizontal widget. The boxy option is almost the same as the one already available on the device.

Samsung tried hard to commercialize Exynos 2500 in late 2024, but failed after incredible efforts. Meanwhile, the company used the chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and itβs now getting a second chance in the Galaxy S26 FE.
A fresh Geekbench leak shows the Galaxy S26 FE runs the Exynos 2600 chip. The deviceβs initial performance scores are also revealed through the listing.
Exynos 2500 features a 4-cluster deca-core (10-core) CPU. It has one prime core, two performance cores, 5 mid cores, and two efficiency cores. The processor offers a peak speed of 3.3GHz and is fabricated using a 3nm process.
Exynos 2500 was a failed product; the reason was that it failed to achieve what it was made for. Galaxy S25 series would have handed a vast expansion, which Galaxy Z Flip 7 couldnβt.
Geekbench: Galaxy S26 FE vs Galaxy Z Flip 7
Meanwhile, Samsung is continuing its Fan Edition chip strategy. Last yearβs FE model borrowed the chipset from the 2024 flagships. Now, the 2025 flagship chip is set to power the Fan Edition slated for a late 2026 launch.
Galaxy S26 FE borrows design language from its parent models. The back panel incorporates a camera island, which looks incredible. Wireless charging is also getting a minor upgrade, which improves the magnetic connection.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S26 FE sometime in September this year. The company is preparing to hold an Unpacked event next month, which will introduce new foldables, smartwatches, and gear.

Samsung Art Store now carries more than 5,000 4K artworks from over 800 artists and 80 institutional partners. Thatβs not a library, but a museum that fits on a wall you already own, available through a single subscription.
At this yearβs fair in Basel, Switzerland, running June 18 to 21, Samsung ran the Art Store Lounge. Visitors filled out a short survey about what catches their eye, what they want art to do in a room.
The loungeβs central Art Wall, built from Micro RGB, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame displays, then matched them to one of four curated themes: Geometric, Surreal, Vibrant, or Painterly.
βOne attendee said, βI was surprised by how well the Vibrant theme matched my taste. The colors looked so rich on the Samsung Art TVs. I could picture one of those pieces bringing so much energy into my home.β.
Samsungβs 2026 Art TV Ambassador is New York artist Daniel Arsham. His custom bezel for The Frame Pro uses stone-like material with raised texture, referencing erosion and topography.
After the fair closed each day, Samsungβs story moved to Gare du Nord for βArt Night with Samsung Art TV,β a panel conversation with Arsham, Art Basel Paris Director Karim Crippa, and Samsung Art Storeβs Head of Content and Curation Daria Greene.
In Basel, where the art world gathers around what comes next, Samsung Art TV offered a firsthand look at the future of art at home. On screen, a collection can grow with personal curation, new discoveries and the rhythms of daily life.

Samsung isnβt playing defense anymore; the companyβs Device Solutions Division held a closed-door global strategy meeting. To meet its AI ambitions, Samsung prepares to fix the HBM pipeline, lock in the big customers, and stop losing ground.
According to SemiconductorsX (via MojoTrick), the meeting Samsung held on June 18 was focused on HBM3E, the fifth-generation stack Samsung is still trying to push into Nvidiaβs supply chain in meaningful volume.
Samsung also mapped out the road ahead on HBM4 and HBM4E, where it claims two notable firsts: mass production of HBM4 began back in February, and samples of seventh-generation HBM4E started shipping to customers last month.
The core agenda was the HBM supply strategy.
Discussions focused on how to expand the supply of 5th-generation HBM3E targeting major Big Tech customers such as Nvidia. Strategies regarding the supply of next-generation lineups (HBM4 and HBM4E) were also devised.
Long-term agreements were also on the table. Leading global firms are tired of supply volatility, so theyβre asking for multi-year contracts. Samsung is trying to use those deals to stabilize revenue while adjusting production capacity to match demand.
Additionally, Samsung Foundry, along with System LSI, apparently got some airtime too. Both divisions have been underperforming.
The company has the roadmap, the milestones, and the executive attention; however, it is not yetΒ the kind of unshakeable customer trust that SK Hynix spent years quietly earning.

Earlier this week, Samsung released One UI 9.0 beta 3 for the Galaxy S26 series, and weβve explored five improvements targeting the system and apps experience. If you are using the One UI beta, tag along and try to notice them by yourself.
The first thing is smoother animations; pulling down the notifications or quick panel shows a smooth, gradual unfolding of the content. Scrolling through the home screen and the content also feels slightly improved as well.
Users have previously reported this issue for the 30X camera zoom. The problem it used to create is that the focus automatically shifts away from the subject. It sometimes returns and sometimes remains blurred.
Another issue that was addressed in this update is the new camera preview screen, which previously cropped under certain conditions.
The one thing in this update is obvious, and that is the performance enhancements, specifically, the app openings are smoother and faster than the initial version. The app opening and closing sequence is also aligned with the smoothness.
Last but not least, the random screen blackout bug is fixed with the One UI 9.0 beta 3. Weβve found this bug in the beta 2 while going back and forth through the background apps, but thereβs no bug in this area any longer. Thatβs what I should give Samsung devs credit for resolving.
The beta 1 and 2 have been slightly offset from the good battery backup, but beta 3 has been performing well in terms of overall battery performance since installation. This experience might vary for testers, but we would like to read your own experience on this matter.
With these improvements, Samsung has really pushed the One UI 9.0 beta program to the next phase. However, thereβs always room for more optimizations as we still have rollouts left before the stable release.

Samsung One UI has different ways to control the media playback, including from the live notifications and lock screen, but One UI 9.0 gave these go-to destinations 5 new changes to enhance the user experience.
The overhaul includes both graphical and interactive improvements, regardless of which app you use to play songs in the background. Weβve compared this new experience with a previous One UI version and found a couple of new details.
Here, we delve into the live notifications, which give you easy access to the media player from the status bar. However, now this compact window has interesting playback graphics.
![]()
Notice how the music timeline has a new color spectrum waveform compared to a light and an accent color in the previous version. The album name and the artist are aligned in a single line.
This change has allowed the company to increase the songβs length, font, and timeline size. Additionally, the playback button has round background shapes that are subtle but easy to notice.
A more noticeable design shift will be found on the lock screen as soon as you expand the music now bar (which also contains the new colorful waveform).

The album art contains the title and the artists, which were previously displayed below the album. However, the following section no longer contains the background shape wrapping around music controls. Instead, they are giving away a different vibe thanks to the new button background and that colorful timeline wavelength.
What makes these new visuals interesting is the animation. When you play/pause a song or move to the next, the system will show smooth animations to make it look interactive.
One UI 9.0 Media Player

This is the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. It launched back in April, and it costs β¬540 with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Depending on the location, there are a few Pantone colors to choose from: Titan, Zinfandel, Lily White, and Tea. In the box, you'll find the phone, a USB-C cable, and a hard case with MagSafe, which is a nice touch. In keeping with its moniker, the Edge 70 Pro is thin and light, measuring just over 7mm and 190 grams. It's also curved on both sides, which isn't the norm for a slab phone these days. We like the phone's feel in the hand, though it's a bit slippery,...

Earlier this week, Google formally released Android 17, and some of its features indicate that this update is designed specifically for foldables, while missing major additions for flat-screen flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S-series.
Android 17 is tailored for large screens, especially foldables with features like app bubbles. It allows users to turn any app into a floating bubble icon, and it has a dedicated dock at the bottom of the screen. You can switch between apps with one tap and resize or maximize them to full-screen for faster multitasking.
Samsung phones already come with features like smart pop-up windows, which you minimize into a bubble. But Googleβs version looks more streamlined.
The next feature is the new foldable gaming mode, using a 50-50 layout. It turns the second half into a dynamic gamepad, which is great for gaming in foldable devices.
The software has new parental controls and new security improvements, which will also make their way to Galaxy devices once the update is released.

Last year, Samsung made a huge change in its software release cycle. The company gave foldables first seat in launching a new Android version, and the Galaxy S-series brings a separate feature pack over the same platform.
For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 were the first to run One UI 8.0 out of the box, and the Galaxy S26 series was released with One UI 8.5. Both have Android 16 in the base.
Besides, Google has found two major global Android smartphone launch events to promote its ecosystem, and both come from Samsung, its biggest partner.
This year wonβt be different; Samsung will bring a top Android executive to talk about the new foldable features, One UI 9.0, and the Gemini for foldable devices. However, itβs already clear that Android 17 is likely to miss any surprising elements for the Galaxy S-series, while prioritizing the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices.

Casio has released a new iteration of its long-standing MQ-24 analog watch, swapping out the traditional resin strap for a stainless steel band. The newly launched MQ-24D and MQ-24G collections are now available in the US, bringing a more formal aesthetic to one of the companyβs most basic and recognizable timepieces.

The lineup consists of four distinct models. The silver-tone MQ-24DA series includes three variants: the MQ24DA-1A with a black dial, the MQ24DA-2A with a deep navy blue dial, and the MQ24DA-3A featuring an emerald green dial. For those looking for a different finish, the MQ-24GA collection offers the MQ24GA-1A, which pairs a black dial with a gold ion-plated band and case.
All four watches feature a metallic sunray dial designed to catch and reflect light, paired with raised, three-dimensional metallic indexes. It is a straightforward three-hand analog setup that prioritizes basic legibility over extra features.
From a hardware perspective, Casio is keeping the core specifications identical to the standard MQ-24 line. The watches maintain a compact and slim profile, measuring 38.8 by 34.9 mm with a thickness of just 7.8 mm. Because the main case and bezel are still constructed from resin rather than solid steel, the watches remain exceptionally light at 45 grams, even with the addition of the new metal band. The self-adjustable clasp accommodates wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 205 mm.

Internally, the watches are powered by a standard SR626SW battery, which Casio estimates will last for approximately three years. The face is protected by standard resin glass, and the watch features basic water resistance suitable for daily wear, meaning it will survive washing your hands or light rain, but it is not intended for swimming or diving.
The new collections are positioned firmly in the budget category. The three silver-tone MQ-24DA models are priced at $54.95, while the gold-tone MQ-24GA-1A carries a slight premium at $64.95. All four models are available to purchase now.
In related news, Casio has recently expanded its US lineup with four new MTP-B185 series watches, while the company also introduced two G-Lide GBX-H5600 models featuring heart rate monitoring and surf-focused tracking tools.

The post Casio launches new affordable metal watches with striking blue, green and gold finishes appeared first on Gizmochina.
Casio has updated its US watch lineup this month with the release of the MTP-B185 series. If you are looking for a straightforward, square-faced analog watch without any smart features, step trackers, or charging cables, these four new models fit that exact description.

The new release includes three silver-tone stainless steel models and one gold-tone version. The differences between the three silver models come down entirely to the dial color. The MTPB185D-2A1V has a dark navy blue dial, the MTPB185D-2A2V uses a lighter ice blue, and the MTPB185D-7AV features a standard silver or white sunburst finish. The fourth model, the MTPB185G-9AV, pairs a champagne gold dial with a gold ion-plated case and band.

On the hardware side, Casio is keeping things uniform across the board. All four watches share the exact same case dimensions, measuring 40mm long, 32.5mm wide, and 7.3mm thick. At 7.3mm, they are relatively thin, which should allow them to slide easily under a shirt cuff. They weigh 80 grams, a standard weight for a stainless steel watch of this size, making them noticeable but not overly heavy on the wrist.
The feature set is as basic as it gets for an analog watch. The dial features a standard three-hand time display and a small date window. The watch face is covered by mineral glass, which is typical for this price bracket and offers standard scratch resistance, though it will not be as durable as sapphire crystal.

For water resistance, the MTP-B185 series is rated at 50 meters, or 5 bar. In practical terms, this means the watches can handle rain, hand washing, and light swimming, but they arenβt built for diving or high-pressure water activities. The stainless steel bands feature an adjustable clasp designed to fit wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 205 mm.
Pricing is kept firmly in the budget category. The three silver models, the navy blue, ice blue, and silver sunburst, are priced at $100 each. The gold ion-plated version costs slightly more at $120 to account for the surface treatment. All four models are currently available for purchase in the US.
In related news, Casio has recently launched two G-Lide GBX-H5600 surf watches equipped with heart rate tracking, while its Japanese red lantern-inspired G-Shock collection has also made its way to the US market.

It looks like Qualcomm is testing two versions of the next Snapdragon flagship: a standard model that supports LPDDR5X memory and a higher-end βProβ variant with faster LPDDR6 memory. Both versions share the same core clock speeds, so the big difference comes down to memory type. The Pro model also brings UFS 5.0 storage support, giving it enough power to handle almost anything you can throw at it.

This chipset is expected to be the most powerful 2nm Android SoC so far, targeting premium βUltraβ flagships coming in 2027. Itβll be manufactured on TSMCβs advanced 2nm process, which should bring solid gains in both performance and battery efficiency compared to previous generations.
The catch is likely the price. The top-tier Pro version could cost manufacturers over $300 per unit. Thatβs why Qualcomm is offering this flexible approach: brands can choose the more affordable LPDDR5X version for slightly cheaper flagships or go all-in with LPDDR6 for maximum bandwidth and better on-device AI performance.

Early block diagrams show the usual high-end layout, with a stronger GPU (rumored to be the Adreno 850 in the Pro) and solid multi-core performance. As usual, weβll probably see binned versions later on, possibly with 7-core CPU setups for different price points.
Overall, this dual-version strategy feels like a smart response to the rising costs in the premium segment. The LPDDR6 models will go after the absolute top-tier buyers, while the LPDDR5X versions could bring near-flagship experiences to a slightly wider audience.
We should hear more official details later in 2026. If the rumors hold up, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro looks set to power the next wave of truly high-end Android phones, balancing raw power with the practical realities manufacturers are facing right now.

In classic Nothing fashion, the company just dropped another cryptic teaser. Just hours after confirming theyβre skipping a new CMF smartphone in 2026 because of rising component costs, Nothingβs official X account posted a single mysterious character: β(b)β. The timing feels far from random, and fans are already speculating itβs a hint at something new coming to the main smartphone lineup.

The teaser follows co-founder Akis Evangelidisβ candid explanation that skyrocketing RAM and storage prices made a proper successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro nearly impossible without raising prices or cutting corners, something the budget-focused brand didnβt want to do.

Instead of going silent, Nothing quickly shifted gears with this teaser. The teaser has sparked speculation about a possible Nothing Phone (4b). It would sit alongside the recently launched Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro, potentially filling a gap in their mid-range lineup. Interestingly, Nothing hasnβt released a full flagship Phone (4) this year, keeping the Phone (3) as their current top model while focusing more on the accessible βaβ series.
A βbβ variant would be new territory for the brand: theyβve mostly stuck to regular numbers and βaβ suffixes until now. Some people think it could be a refreshed mid-ranger with upgrades like a better Glyph interface, improved cameras, or stronger battery life. Others are keeping their options open, wondering if it might not even be a phone, maybe a new audio product (like earbuds or headphones) under a βbβ series.
Either way, this is pure Nothing: playful, minimalist teasers that get the community guessing and talking. With reports of softer-than-expected sales for the Phone (3) in some markets, leaning harder into smart mid-range options makes a lot of sense, especially with the current component price challenges.
It feels like more clues are coming soon. One thingβs for sure: Nothing is not planning to slow down. Whether itβs a Phone (4b) or something totally unexpected, the next few weeks should be interesting.

The gaming market has had a rough go of it this decade β first COVID slowed down the rollout of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, then the crypto boom vacuumed up available GPUs, now AI has made RAM chips the new gold. Netlist has filed complaints at the US International Trade Commission and the Eastern District of Texas, seeking an import ban on Samsung HBM and DDR5 RDIMM and MRDIMM DRAM AI memory product lines.
Itβs demanding import bans (via SemiconductorsX) and sales prohibitions across the board, and it didnβt stop at Samsung. Notably, Google, NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Supermicro are also named alongside Samsung in the complaint filed by Netlist.
The patents at the center of this are U.S. Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937, both registered this year. The β537 covers vertically stacked memory dies with TSV structures, the core architecture inside every HBM chip Samsung ships.
The β937β covers a clock driver trick that repurposes an error signal line during initialization. Neither one, Netlist argues, is a JEDEC standard-essential patent, so Samsung canβt hide behind RAND licensing terms.
Samsung and Netlist signed a joint development deal back in 2015. Samsung walked in 2020. Two Texas juries have since handed Netlist $303 million and $118 million in willful infringement verdicts. Samsung kept shipping anyway.
Samsung Electronics previously entered into a licensing agreement with Netlist in 2015 but breached it in 2020. Despite twice receiving verdicts of willful patent infringement and damages awards (amounting to $303 million and $118 million, respectively) from federal juries in Texas, Samsung continues to import the infringing products into the United States.
C.K. Hong, CEO of Netlist, stated, βNetlist continues to lead innovative breakthroughs in the AI memory sector. This legal action expands our efforts to protect next-generation server DIMM and HBM technologies from unauthorized use.β
Samsungβs HBM3E is inside NVIDIAβs Blackwell GPUs. Those GPUs are inside data centers that half the AI industry depends on. A successful exclusion order wouldnβt just sting Samsung; it would have a very broad impact.

Samsung isnβt the kind of company you stiff on a contract and walk away from clean; Triller learned that lesson the hard way, and itβs still learning it.
According to TheBiz, Samsung is seeking nearly $3 million from Triller after the short-video platform allegedly failed to pay for a Galaxy app promotion deal.
The dispute began in December 2020, when Samsung and Triller signed an agreement where Samsung would promote Trillerβs app on Galaxy smartphones, with Triller paying based on installations.
Payments were made initially, but between April and September 2021, Triller stopped paying, leaving $1.81 million in unpaid principal.
Samsung filed for ICC arbitration in July 2022. Triller argued that some installations were generated by bots and raised concerns about suspicious traffic, but the company never completed its defense. Its legal counsel withdrew.
Triller did not submit a response or request a hearing; the ICC ruled in Samsungβs favor. Samsung then moved to enforce the award in the US federal court, where the Central District of California confirmed the judgment in May 2024.
With interest, arbitration costs, and legal fees added, the amount reached nearly $3 million.
The case continued after Trillerβs parent company, Triller Group, listed a roughly $3 million βSamsung Arbitration Awardβ liability in its 2025 SEC filing.
Samsung used that disclosure to seek to add Triller Group as a judgment debtor, but the court denied the request due to procedural issues, allowing Samsung to refile after proper notice.
Triller Group was delisted from Nasdaq in December 2024 and continues facing creditor pressure. Samsung is pursuing enforcement through asset tracing and legal measures, showing the company is not ready to abandon the unpaid debt.

Your Samsung phone gets new One UI updates, Play system updates, and app updates. After installing the latest versions of the three, you might think everything is up to date. You might be wrong, as Google has three new updates for every Samsung phone that elevate the user experience behind the scenes.
Google is rolling out three updates, Android System SafetyCore, Android System WebView, and Google Play Services, to every Samsung phone. The availability of these updates may vary by region or carrier, but their arrival is certain.
System SafetyCore, System WebView, and Play Services are getting updated. You need to install them manually as they could stay outdated until your Samsung Galaxy smartphone receives a new One UI update.
Here are the latest versions:
Patch/release notes are not available for these apps for now. Google may specify changes in a different way or medium, but the rollout is underway. You should install the latest versions to ensure the optimal state on your device.
Avoiding crucial updates may end up risking your phone with vulnerabilities, bugs, performance issues, and security problems. That said, ensuring their timely update should be your routine task after every One UI release.
Googleβs System SafetyCore and WebView functions back various functionalities on Android. Certain features rely on these core apps, which you may think never existed, given their indirect backing rather than visibility.
The method to update these apps is something different and tricky. To do so, open your phoneβs Settings, then Apps, and search for the apps by their names.
The searched app will be listed there, and you need to expand the page. Now, tap βApp details in storeβ to get redirected to their listing page on Google Play Store, where you need to tap Update key.

Samsung phased out the Galaxy S22 series (and some others) from a major software update rollout, and we hope the Galaxy S23 series wonβt meet the same fate in 2027.
Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra arenβt getting the One UI 8.5 update, and they will spend their remaining life on One UI 8.0. Both versions are based on Android 16, but the difference in QPR versions is the primary culprit.
Well, Samsung has provided One UI 8.5 to a $200 smartphone as well, so it doesnβt mean that one is better than the Galaxy S22 flagships in 2026.
Samsung has already disappointed millions of users of the Galaxy S22 series. One UI 8.5 upgrade is bigger than the One UI 8.0, which would have elevated the user experience in multiple ways, not limited to the user interface.
The Galaxy S23 series is eligible for the Android 17-based One UI 9.0 upgrade. The Beta Program of this software is already live in 6 countries. Design-wise, the software has no major upgrades as the focus is on overall refinements.
The company is reportedly testing One UI 9 for Galaxy S23 series internally. A previous leak suggested that the Galaxy S27 series will launch with One UI 9.5. That said, the next x.5 software is slated for launch in 2027 as well.
Samsung may continue its strategy of basing One UI on Android QPR versions. If the 2026 method is retained in 2027, the One UI 9.0 will ship with Android 17 QPR1 atop, while One UI 9.5 could be based on the QPR2 version.
Like the S22 series become ineligible for the last One UI upgrade, Samsung shouldnβt do it for the S23 series in 2027. The 2023 flagships have an even larger consumer base than the 2022 models, and it will also be extremely upsetting.

At VivaTech 2026 in Paris, Samsung laid out a blueprint to turn the average household into a proactive hub for preventive medicine. Through an open network of connected devices and specialized healthcare partnerships, Samsung is positioning itself to shift medical/doctor screening out of clinics and directly into the home.
According to Hon Pak, Head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung Mobile eXperience, daily wellness is entering a brand-new era.
Rather than relying on single standalone gadgets, Samsung is tapping into its enormous global footprint, which currently supports 77 million monthly active users on Samsung Health and 460 million users on SmartThings.
By integrating home appliances, TVs, and wearables, the system sets up personalized automation routines to quietly manage family well-being.
The core of this ambitious push relies on open collaboration with specialized health innovators to bridge the historic gap between hospital settings and domestic life:
SiPhox Health: Contributes a clinical-grade diagnostic layer, allowing households to track continuous biomarker data alongside wearable metrics through at-home blood testing.
Generation Lab: Supplies targeted solutions that allow users to measure biological age and manage aging right from the living room.
Xealth: Works directly with the ecosystem to seamlessly bridge daily home data back to traditional hospital clinical care.
Samsung envisions an AI-driven βdaily companionβ that understands individual biological needs to smoothly automate lifestyle improvements where people spend most of their time.
Looking at the next five years of healthcare in the context of the AI era, Pak concluded, βA daily companion that knows who I am, as well as what I need and when, will help me achieve my health goals seamlessly through lifestyle behaviors and connected innovative partner services.β

June 20, 2026 | WhatsApp is rolling out a minor visual upgrade that makes a great positive impact on the user experience. WhatsApp is testing a new online indicator for Android devices, which is a familiar Green Dot.

June 19, 2026 |Β WhatsApp Beta in iOS brings back smoother message animations. The appβs Android Beta has recently adopted new animations, which are now expanding to Apple users after a brief pause in previous Beta builds.
Recently, WhatsApp Android Beta added smoother message sending animations. Apple users who are testing WhatsApp Beta are now getting (via WABetaInfo) this visual improvement as well.
WhatsApp Beta for iOS 26.24.10.70 carries the visual changes for Apple devices. They appeared on Android as part of WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.26.23.11 last week.
The new animations ensure a more lively chatting experience on the page. Tapping the send button will no longer immediately surface the message bubble.
Rather, the message bubble will carry a smooth animation to appear alive by fading smoothly. WhatsApp is also bringing controls, so you donβt have to end up dealing with the animations as a necessity.
The animations will also be in effect when you receive a new message. The iOS version, which replaced the previous one, is something different from Android.
Unlike the previous animation effect, the message bubble now fades in while slightly scaling up as it settles into the conversation, which feels noticeably smoother.
The option is available within WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Animations, where users can control animations for emojis, stickers, and GIFs.

The changes are currently limited to the Beta version of the application. Users will receive the new animations once developers verify the stability of these visual improvements.

In April of last year, OnePlus launched the 13T in China. Then, in June, it released basically the same phone in India as the OnePlus 13s. Back in March of this year, the company introduced the 15T in China, so you're probably expecting it to launch in India as the 15s very soon. Google officially released the Wear OS 7 update for Pixel Watch models. The new wearable platform introduces a battery life boost, Live Updates, Gemini Intelligence, and cross-device connectivity.
Samsung will bring the new wearable operating system to its Galaxy devices through the One UI 9 Watch update. A Beta Program was assumed to have already started, but users are still awaiting an announcement.
Meanwhile, Samsung is more widely rolling out its May 2026 security patches. In the latest expansion, the fresh security patches have started to arrive on 8 Samsung Galaxy Watches in the US.
The May 2026 updateβs changelog clearly states that the OTA includes the most up-to-date Android security patches. However, the OTA has even more to offer, which Samsung hasnβt even mentioned in the changelog.
Samsung users reported a broken app launch bug on Galaxy Watches in the US. Every time they launch/open an application from the app drawer, it shows a dark black glimpse on the screen and then returns to the app drawer.
Galaxy Watch users found that the problem had been resolved after installing the May 2026 security update. It was initially dropped in South Korea, and a major expansion brought it to users in the United States.
Samsung may have also included system optimization inside. System cache and junk data will also be cleared during installation, which would provide an enhanced user experience.
Software version information:
The updates are available on Verizon-bound Galaxy Watches in the US. You can get the latest software on your smartwatch using the Galaxy Wearable app.

Your Samsung phone has two great features to safeguard your data and privacy under the Theft Protection section. This intelligent feature kit provides a necessary shield to your Galaxy phone in case it gets stolen while you use it.
Think you are roaming outside and using your phone for surfing or attending an important phone call. You suddenly come to know that someone snatched your device from your hands, leaving you shocked at the moment.
Smartphones are no longer just communication devices. They have become a crucial part of our lives as they store credentials, digital keys, banking apps, and digital identity. Losing the phone means you are losing almost everything you digitized.
Samsung phones have a Theft Detection feature, but it must be enabled manually. When enabled, it ensures your phone locks itself if a possible theft is detected. It has been designed brilliantly and works the way it should.
Smartphone theft can happen unexpectedly, but taking a few minutes to enable Theft Protection can help safeguard your data and privacy.
The suite of these intelligent security tools can automatically lock your Samsung smartphone when theft is detected, lock a phone when it goes offline for an extended period, and even allow users to remotely lock their device.
Technically, Theft Detection Lock can identify motion patterns commonly associated with theft, such as a device being suddenly snatched away from a user. If suspicious activity is detected, the smartphone screen automatically locks.
Hereβs a step-by-step guide to enable the Theft Detection feature:

Samsung is showcasing the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 cameras in collaboration with South African creators. Samsung South Africa teamed up with one of Mzansiβs leading film production companies to drop a short film.
The Korean tech giant has been quietly building something in the Galaxy A series for years. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are the latest proof that AI-powered photography isnβt just for flagship phones anymore.
The short film is less product advertisement and more of a cultural document.
Director Lindo Langa helmed the project, and the result is genuinely cinematic. The film opens frozen, moments suspended just before the shutter clicks, then accelerates into the full kinetic energy of South African youth culture.
Itβs the kind of brief you donβt expect from a mid-range phone launch.Β Content creators Dee Koala, Sine Madondo, Coachella Randy, and Jaedin Rhodes appear as themselves, doing exactly what they do in real life.
Designed to make everyday experiences simpler, smarter, and more intuitive, the new Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G reflect Samsungβs ongoing commitment to democratising artificial intelligence.
By expanding AI capabilities across more accessible devices, Samsung continues to empower users to do more with the technology in their hands, from capturing meaningful moments to enhancing everyday productivity.
Samsung is pushing AI camera capabilities down into devices that real people can afford. Not everyone is buying an S-series phone, and pretending otherwise is how you lose the next generation of customers.

Pope Leo XIV is officially a Samsung guy; he rocks a Galaxy phone and wears a Galaxy Watch. When South Korean President Lee Jae-myung visited the Vatican earlier this week, he came away with more than diplomatic goodwill.
During their meeting, Pope Leo XIV held up a Black smartwatch and quizzed the President: βDo you know what this is?β It was a Samsung Galaxy Watch. The Pope then mentioned he also carries a Galaxy smartphone and drives a Hyundai.
For a man who could have his pick of any device, the choice is telling. While Silicon Valleyβs flagship products dominate the pockets of most Western leaders and public figures, the leader of Catholics is running on Korean tech.
The Popeβs device preferences emerged as something of a lighthearted footnote to a substantive meeting that covered Korean Peninsula peace efforts, next yearβs World Youth Day in Seoul, and a potential papal visit to North Korea.
Samsungβs Galaxy lineup has long held its ground as a premium alternative to Apple, and apparently, that reputation reaches all the way to the Holy See.
Whether by personal preference or happy coincidence, the first American Pope seems to have gone Korean when it counts.

A new market report reveals that the global smartwatch market has returned to growth, with major brands gaining momentum. Samsung took a different path in Q1 2026, with smartwatch shipments facing a steep decline.
According to Counterpoint Research, the global smartwatch shipments grew 4% YoY in Q1 2026. Analysts believe Apple was the key driver given its newest Watch portfolio, along with growing demand for premium devices.
Samsung was the only smartwatch brand that flagged a massive downturn in its shipments in Q1 2026. The companyβs market share declined from 7 percent in Q1 2025 to 5 percent in the first quarter of the year.
The shipment data reveals that Galaxy Watch shipments declined 28 percent YoY. It signals that the companyβs wearable strategy requires revisions. A new set of watches is coming next month, and market share is expected to rise.
Apple led the worldwide smartwatch market with 23 percent market share. The US tech giant flagged a steep growth of 21 percent year-on-year. The momentum will continue as Q3 is set to welcome the next-gen wearables.
Huawei also grew 12 percent, with the companyβs market share jumping from 16 percent in Q1 2025 to 17 percent in Q1 2026. The Chinese brand ranked second, thanks to aggressive marketing and push from key markets.
The growth of the Chinese market, led by Huaweiβs ecosystem push and government subsidies, encouraged consumer upgrades and strengthened overall demand.
Xiaomi maintained its third spot and 10 percent market share in Q1 2026βs smartwatch market. The companyβs overall smartwatch shipments grew 9 percent year over year.
imoo was the fourth largest smartwatch vendor in the first quarter, retaining 7 percent market share with 2 percent YoY growth.

Thanks to the AI momentum, Samsung has just surpassed Bitcoin in terms of market value. Samsung Electronics is sitting at a $1.522 trillion market cap while Bitcoin is at $1.276 trillion; it is a $246 billion gap, and it has widened fast.
The KOSPI cracked 9,000 intraday for the first time ever, dragging semiconductor stocks higher while Bitcoin quietly bled out.Β SEDaily reports that Samsung climbed to 12th among global assets, while Bitcoin slipped to 15th.
Samsung surpassed Bitcoin on November 1, then lost ground after shares cratered on November 8. Meanwhile, AI chip demand and high-bandwidth memory optimism have since pulled Samsung back ahead.
The gap isnβt shrinking
MarketWatch columnist Mark Hulbert ran the numbers on a fair-value model and surfaced something brutal: Bitcoin converging around $120,000 by 2140 implies an expected annual return of roughly 0.6% over 120 years.
Apart from this, SK Hynix is also running up 6.51% in a single session, its market value reached $1.248 trillion, placing it just $28 billion behind Bitcoin at 16th globally.

Samsung and a startup called Claros have quietly locked in one of the more technically precise collaborations to surface from the AI infrastructure arms race.
Claros will produce its IVR designs using Samsung Foundryβs US-based 14nm FinFET process. The companyβs CEO, Daniel Kultran, has been direct about the friction, saying data center operators keep hitting the same wall because they want integrated voltage regulation but wonβt move without volume certainty.
βSamsungβs FinFET process is the manufacturing foundation our IVR needs, and now our customers have a production timeline they can plan around,β said Claros Co-Founder and CEO Daniel Kultran.
Samsungβs Margaret Han, who runs US Foundry operations, signaled that the company sees applications beyond data centers, including industrial and automotive applications.
βProcessor-level power delivery is one of the most critical challenges facing AI infrastructure, and Claros is tackling it with a truly forward-looking approach,β said Margaret Han, Executive Vice President and Head of US Foundry at Samsung Electronics.
AI workloads donβt just demand power; they waste it. The industry has been pushing 800 VDC architecture at the rack level, which helps, but stops short.
Without voltage regulation happening millimeters from the actual processor, a significant slice of that efficiency disappears as heat. Clarosβs integrated voltage regulator closes that gap, cutting energy loss by up to 30 percent.
This is Clarosβs first manufacturing agreement. The company closed a $30 million seed round recently and is now positioned to actually ship at scale.

Samsung is already preparing Galaxy devices for the quantum security era with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8.5 update. Quantum computers capable of cracking modern encryption arenβt here, but the people building them are working fast.
Most of the encryption protecting your banking apps, your Wi-Fi sessions, and your private messages relies on mathematical problems that traditional computers canβt solve in any reasonable timeframe.
Quantum machines could solve them in minutes. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is the field that is developing replacement algorithms designed to withstand that kind of computational power.
One UI 8.5 brings quantum-resistant encryption to Secure Wi-Fi, which protects connections on public and shared networks.
Among the security initiatives presented by Samsung are:
Samsung has also expanded Knox Matrix and strengthened Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, the architecture built specifically to guard personalized AI features as they process increasingly sensitive behavioral data.
Meanwhile, the Korean tech giant has not published deep technical documentation on exactly which PQC algorithms are being deployed or at what layer, but the direction is right.
Samsung launched One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 flagship phones. The official rollout began in May 2026, and dozens of Galaxy devices have received the update to date.
Beyond that, Samsung embarked on the One UI 9 journey, based on Android 17. The software is available in Beta for the Galaxy S26 series in Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Researchers at Counterpoint Research published the worldwide smartphone sales report for Week 20 of 2026. Samsung maintained its smartphone sales in that period, while Apple and Huawei secured solid growth.
According to the report, the global smartphone sales declined by 8% YoY in Week 20 of 2026, marking the ninth consecutive week of negative growth. Overall, demand remained sluggish during Week 20, despite some promotional events in China and India.
Apple and Huawei were the only phone makers that flagged positive growth. Samsung, at the same time, managed to keep its sales momentum consistent in a declining smartphone market.
Brands with stable supply chains and high visibility into key components such as memory were able to maintain more consistent pricing and promotional strategies. Apple is in an advantageous position in this regard.
Apple grew 10 percent year over year, while Huawei grew a huge 23 percent. Samsung managed to prevent a sales slump, but ended up facing a sales decline of 1 percent year over year.
Chinese vendors, such as Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, declined 10%, 19%, and 17%, respectively. The phone makers are getting hurt by the rising component costs and the memory price hike.
With supply chain stability emerging as a key differentiator this year, brands with higher supply stability for core components, particularly AI memory, competing with data center demand, widened the gap with their competitors.

Samsung smartwatches reportedly failing to open apps on Wear OS 6. A bug appears to be preventing certain apps from opening on the device. Users are frustrated as a key functionality of their wearable has stopped.
Users of Samsung smartwatches have been posting about a frustrating issue where apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, and WhatsApp simply refuse to open.
You tap the icon, the splash screen flashes for a second, and then youβre dumped right back into the app drawer. Similar reports are posted as complaints across various social media platforms, including Reddit.
One Galaxy Watch 8 Classic owner brought it to Reddit, and the replies confirmed this isnβt an isolated incident. Meanwhile, someone in that Reddit thread (via AndroidAuthority) dug into the cause, and itβs a Wear OS 6 kernel problem.
A zombie process, meaning a process thatβs technically finished but still sitting in the systemβs memory, creates a deadlock when the app tries to close.Β When you try to relaunch the app, the OS spots that old process, canβt kill it, and aborts the whole startup.
The fix is the May 2026 security patch. A Galaxy Watch 7 owner installed it and reports the bug hasnβt resurfaced since. Although the May patchβs rollout has begun, itβs still not widely available on Galaxy Watch models globally.
A kernel-level bug is making apps unusable on Galaxy Watches; the only potential fix requires a security update that not everyone may have received yet.
If your Galaxy Watch has been eating app launches lately, check your software update settings immediately.

Samsung Galaxy S26 5G starts at $899 in the US, thanks to rising memory costs that caused a price hike of $100. The company offered decent deals at launch, which ended as preorders closed, but Amazon has an even better offer right now.
As part of Fatherβs Day deal, Samsung is offering a $100 cash discount on the base Galaxy S26 model with 256GB storage. Meanwhile, Amazon has a limited stock of the Galaxy S26 5G available for as low as $775 in the US.
Amazon listed the Galaxy S26 5G for $785, down $125 from the launch price of $899. Meanwhile, the platform is offering an additional $10 instant discount as an Amazon Store Card, taking the price down to a sizzling $775.
The best part: you are getting $125 off with no strings attached. The 256GB variant is enough to store your photos and videos alongside useful apps. Thereβs a 512GB model as well, which is currently $934 on Amazon US.
Samsung Galaxy S26 comes with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with 12GB of RAM. The phone features a triple camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel main, a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 10-megapixel Telephoto.

WhatsApp is testing a series of UI changes and feature adjustments. Recent beta releases reveal that the messaging giant is focusing heavily on home screen accessibility, streamlined group management, and cleaning up underutilized features.
Here is a breakdown of the three major changes currently rolling out or under development.
Widget for voice messages
WhatsApp is expanding its Android home screen shortcuts to streamline daily interactions.
A new resizable 3Γ1 widget allows users to record voice notes with a single tap directly from their home screen, bypassing the need to open the app and locate specific chats.
Once recorded, the audio can be sent to individual contacts, multiple recipients at once, or shared as a status update.
Redesigned group chat info screen
WhatsApp is reorganizing the group chat info interface by introducing two dedicated hubs at the very top of the screen:

Privacy setting for avatar stickers
WhatsApp is discontinuing its avatar feature due to low user engagement. Users can no longer create, edit, or send new custom avatar stickers from the keyboard.
The application is also removing the associated privacy settings that controlled collaborative sticker pairing. Notably, past avatar stickers remain saved in old chats or personal favorites.

Samsung is internally testing Android 17-based One UI 9.0 software for various Galaxy devices. This activity is running in parallel to the Open Beta Program. The public beta update is exclusively available for the Galaxy S26 series.
One UI 9.0 update will bring Android 17 to Samsung devices. The official debut is set for late July, while the rollout will take a few more weeks to start. Samsung will first prioritize new devices rather than sharing software advancements.
Samsung picked mid-May as the timeline to announce and start the One UI 9 Beta Program. As of the third week of June, the company has already rolled out three Beta builds to Galaxy S26 users in six countries around the world.
Samsung will keep the Beta Program limited to its latest flagship devices. Meanwhile, the internal testing has already started for plenty of models. It includes phones from the S series, foldables from the Z series, and tablets from the Tab series.
Whatβs more, some Galaxy A Series phones have also joined the party. The internal testing is expanding to unexpected models, including the budget ones. The pace is fast, and Samsung is gearing up for a faster rollout.
Galaxy S Series
Galaxy Z Series
Galaxy A Series
Galaxy Tab S Series
The list is broad enough yet incomplete. Samsung will add even more Galaxy models to its internal software testing streak. Beta Program may open for more users, but it would only happen after the Summer Galaxy Unpacked event.

Samsungβs System LSI division just delivered its best-ever first-quarter revenue. Sounds like great news, right? But thereβs a catch β the company still expects to end the full year with losses in this part of its chip business.
President Park Yong-in recently talked about the challenges. He said Samsung needs bigger structural changes because demand is soft in several key areas. Even with strong memory (HBM) chip sales, thanks to AI demand, the non-memory side (foundry and System LSI) continues to struggle.
βWe achieved the highest level of sales in the first quarter of this yearβ Park said at the briefing. Park said, βThe System-on-Chip (SoC) business is difficult to convert into a surplus in the short term, but we will strive to improve the business body and improve profitability.β βWe will create an environment where structural problems can be solved by management and members can focus on technology.β
The one chance? Development of the next flagship Exynos 2700 processor is moving along steadily. Samsung is expected to use it in the next Galaxy S-series phones.
Samsung is clearly treating its foundry business (making chips for other companies) and System LSI (mobile processors and more) as key parts for the entire company.
Whatβs the real issue? The mobile SoC market is super competitive, and AI demand has not helped every segment the same way. While memory chips are printing money, fixing the logic and foundry side will take serious time and effort.
For long-term success, Samsung is trying to balance its memory and non-memory chip businesses. Investors are watching closely to see if these changes start delivering real results soon.
