Google’s Gemini AI now available on Android Auto

9 November 2025 at 01:44

Google is rolling out its new AI assistant, Gemini, for Android Auto. This means the old Google Assistant in cars is being replaced with a smarter, more helpful AI. Gemini is already available on Android phones, Wear OS 6, Google TV, Google Home, and Google Maps, and now it’s hitting car dashboards in the US.

Gemini brings lots of useful features for drivers. It can automatically translate messages in over 40 languages. This makes it easier to talk with friends or family while on the road.

You can also ask it to find restaurants, cafes, or places to visit along your route using simple commands like, “Find some good taco places along the way.” It can even read reviews, answer questions about businesses, and pull information from your Gmail, such as where your child’s next soccer game is.

The AI works smoothly with apps such as Google Maps, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Calendar. Also, a new feature, Gemini Live, lets you have natural conversations while driving. It can give suggestions and update them based on your follow-up questions.

Gemini will appear gradually on Android Auto-compatible vehicles, and later this year on cars with Google built-in. These include models like the Lincoln Nautilus, Renault R5, and Honda Passport.

To get Gemini, you don’t need to do much. Android Auto 15.7 Beta already has the code, and Google will enable it from their side soon. It will gradually replace the old Assistant automatically. You can also download the Android Auto 15.7 Beta APK to try it sooner.

Google Wallet will use passes and purchases to personalize offers just for you

8 November 2025 at 22:10

Google Wallet is adding new settings that let you get more personalized recommendations based on your purchases and stored passes. These “purchase and pass” personalization settings will use information from your past purchases and saved passes to give you useful suggestions.

When these settings are turned on, Google can provide recommendations based on your activity. For example, if you frequently fly with a certain airline, Google might suggest similar flights in the future. Or if you download a fitness app, it could recommend running gear or other related services.

Google is giving users control over this data. You can completely turn off the use of your purchases and passes if you prefer. If you enable it, there are detailed options to decide how your information is used.

Google Wallet location notifications

You can choose whether it is used for in-app recommendations, personalized ads, or to measure ad performance. Google emphasizes that sensitive information will never be used for ads and that your purchase and pass data will not be sold to other companies.

These settings are starting to roll out to US users over the next few months. Once available, Google Wallet will notify you, and a support document will explain the options in detail.

This update shows Google’s effort to give users more control over their information while making apps and services smarter and more helpful. With these settings, you can get suggestions that fit your preferences without compromising your privacy.

Google refreshes Android Voice Search with a clean, modern look

8 November 2025 at 19:17

Google is rolling out a fresh new design for its voice search feature on Android. The old version, which showed four colorful dots that moved when you spoke, has looked the same for years. Now, Google is updating it to match the modern style seen in its newer features like Search Live.

When you tap the microphone icon in the Google app, on the Search results page, or in the Pixel Launcher bar, you’ll see a redesigned screen. At the center, the colorful Google “G” logo appears with a friendly message saying, “What’s on your mind?” As you start speaking, the message disappears, and your spoken words appear as text.

The old dot animation is replaced by a curved arc that moves in time with your voice. It gives it a fresh and dynamic look.

Google has also made changes to the “Search a song” feature. You’ll now see a clear “Play Sing Hum” button at the bottom of the screen. This makes it easier to find a song by singing, humming, or playing part of it. The old globe animation is gone, making the layout simpler and easier to understand.

There’s also a new sound when the microphone turns on or off. This updated “ping” matches the tone used in Google’s AI Mode, making the whole experience feel more consistent and polished.

The redesign is not yet available to everyone, but it’s expected to roll out more widely soon. With this update, Google is keeping voice search simple, fast, and pleasant to use, and giving it a fresh look that fits perfectly with its new AI-powered design style.

YouTube AI Age Verification is Reportedly Flagging Adults as Kids

8 November 2025 at 02:59
AH YouTube Premium

At this point, you must be aware that YouTube is expanding its AI age verification to more users in some regions. This puts a set of restrictions on users below 18 years of age, including blocking age-restricted videos, Digital Wellbeing tools being on by default, and more. It appears the YouTube age verification is failing, as it’s reportedly flagging some adults as kids.

YouTube’s age verification system is failing

As spotted by Android Police, the YouTube age verification system is falsely flagging adult accounts as kids. This is despite Google implementing its various methods of age verification. Several users are complaining about this on Reddit. They say that they have been falsely flagged as minors even though they are not. A Reddit user claims that he’s over 18, while another user says they’re literally 21 years old, yet YouTube is still flagging them as minors.

Like it does with actual kids’ accounts, YouTube is showing a warning message, “We’ve changed some of your settings. We couldn’t verify that you’re an adult.” It then gives you the option to continue using the service with restrictions or verify your age.

YouTube age verification failing

You’ll have to manually reverify your age

YouTube’s intentions are in the right place. It wants to prevent minors from accessing inappropriate content and show non-personalized ads. But the AI system, which is in place to detect minor accounts, is falsely flagging users. If the system wrongly flags you as a minor, the only option for you is to reverify your age manually using an ID, credit card, or selfie.

The YouTube AI age verification is only rolling out in the US, UK, and some EU countries. Reportedly, Google also uses a similar age verification system for the Play Store when downloading certain apps. However, there’s an option to verify through a third-party service, which is not available for YouTube currently.

Nintendo's new Store app lets you buy games and browse products

8 November 2025 at 00:31
AH Nintendo Store App

Nintendo has launched a new app for Android and iOS devices called the Nintendo Store, and as the name of the app suggests, it’s a digital storefront where you can browse through a wide variety of Nintendo-related products. Whether you’re looking for that next game, an accessory for your brand-new Nintendo Switch 2, or you’re just curious what kind of merchandise Nintendo has available, the Nintendo Store app will likely have it listed.

The launch of the Nintendo Store app feels like a long time coming. It’s something that Sony has made available since the PlayStation app that launched alongside the PS5 several years ago. A major difference here is that the Nintendo Store is mostly just the Nintendo Store. Although there are a few things in the app that aren’t purchasable products.

The Nintendo Store app launch blends a product storefront with a news hub

What’s neat about the Nintendo Store app is that it isn’t just a storefront for selling Switch and Switch 2 games and Nintendo products and merchandise. It offers a few extra features that tie into the Nintendo experience as a whole. For example, there’s a news tab you can jump to if you feel like reading up on the latest Nintendo news. News categories can even be broken down into All News, Game News, Events, and Promotions, just in case you’re looking for something specific.

Additionally, there’s a profile tab you can click on that has links to your purchase history, your funds and payment methods, and you can even see play activity. In fact, clicking on play activity shows you recent activity, which is just the last few games you played and how long you played them for, as well as when you played them. You can even tap on “view more” to see a more detailed breakdown of your play activity, including days you didn’t play any games.

There’s a tab for your wish list as well, just in case you’re browsing the store and add something to the wish list, and want to check on it later. This can be handy if you see a game you might want to buy in the future, as it could help prevent you from forgetting it. The Nintendo Store app is available from Google Play on Android devices or the App Store on iOS devices.

Google Play Store may soon let you search app reviews

7 November 2025 at 23:56

Obviously, reading reviews on the Google Play Store helps you decide if an app is worth downloading. But finding the right review is not always easy. Right now, you can sort reviews by rating, date, or by preset topics like “performance” or “design.” However, you can’t search for your own keywords, and that can make things frustrating.

Now, it looks like Google is finally working to fix this. In the latest version (v48.7.17-31) of the Play Store app, new code spotted via Assemble Debug hints at a feature that will let users search through reviews.

The code mentions a “Search reviews” option and something called AllReviewsPage__enable_search_bar. These details suggest that Google is building a search bar for the reviews page.

Google Play Store Review search

Image via Android Authority

This new tool could make reading reviews much easier. For example, if you want to know if a photo editing app works offline, you could type “offline” in the search bar. You would then see only reviews that mention that word. This would save a lot of time instead of scrolling through hundreds of unrelated comments.

We don’t know yet when Google will officially launch this feature, or even if it will appear soon. The search bar will likely show up near the top of the review section, close to the current filter options.

Google hasn’t made an announcement yet, but this shows that the company is trying to make app reviews more useful and easier to explore. We’ll have to wait and see when this handy feature becomes available. Stay tuned.

Google Messages will show quick Insights with Gemini

7 November 2025 at 19:27

Google is working on a new feature for its Messages app called “Insights.” This tool will help you understand shared web links without even opening them. It uses Gemini, Google’s AI helper, to create quick and easy summaries.

When someone sends you a link, you can tap the new Insights button to see what it’s about. Gemini will look at the link’s title, description, and content, then write three short bullet points that explain the most important parts. These points will be simple, clear, and straight to the point.

Gemini will also mention whether it got the information only from the shared link or if it searched the web for extra details. At the end of the summary, it will add one short line as this could be a reminder, safety note, or question, like, “Would you like to know more?” or “Check official sources for updates.”

Google Messages Gemini

There will also be a setting called “Explore link topics with Gemini.” You can turn it on or off anytime. When it’s on, the Insights option will appear next to shared links in your chats.

Along with this new feature, Google is improving other parts of the Messages app. If you use two SIM cards, you’ll soon see the SIM name directly in the message box. This small change helps you know which number you’re using to send a text, so you don’t send messages from the wrong SIM.

Google is also giving the app a cleaner design. The chat details page will have each setting in its own card, making it easier to find what you need.

Google Messages Makes It Easier to Keep Important Chats on Top

7 November 2025 at 17:28
AH Google Messages desktop

The latest Google Messages change is very small, but it goes a long way. Google is now rolling out a change to message pinning within Google Messages, and some of you will greatly appreciate it.

Google Messages doubles the number of chats you can pin

Google is now upping the number of conversations you can pin in Google Messages. Up until now, the limit was 10, but following this update/change, you’ll be able to pin up to 20 of them. So Google is essentially doubling the previous number. As a reminder, the original number was 3, so that came a long way.

Oplus 16908288
Oplus_16908288

Needless to say, this is not the most exciting update out there, but it’s a useful fun. Not many people pin over 10 conversations, but those of you who do will find this very useful.

Pinning is a very useful tool as it keeps your important conversations front and center. You can pin them in a certain way and thus have them in the same spot at all times, just like you’d set up your apps on your home screen.

The vast majority of people have an X number of people they talk to on a regular basis, which is why pinning is so useful. Simply pin the ones you care about most, and that’s it.

You can do the same for group chats

In case you’re wondering, yes, this feature does work for group chats as well, it’s not limited to 1-on-1 conversations.

If you’re wondering how to pin a conversation, it’s quite easy. Find a convo you’d like to pin and then press and hold it until the top menu changes (from the Messages home page). Once that happens, you’ll see new icons, one of which will be the pushpin icon. Tap it and that’s it. You can do the same to reverse the process.

This seems to be a server-side change on Google’s part, by the way. Just make sure you’re on the latest version of the app. The changes is already available to us, so it should be coming to you soon, if it hasn’t rolled out already.

Spotify's New Weekly Feature Turns Wrapped Into a Year-Round Experience

7 November 2025 at 17:20
Spotify app 2 AH

Remember when you had to wait until December to see what you’d been obsessing over on Spotify? Those days are over. Spotify has rolled out a new feature called Listening Stats that gives you a personalized weekly breakdown of your music habits. Instead of waiting for that annual Wrapped recap, you can now check your top artists and songs from the past four weeks whenever you want.

Move over Spotify Wrapped, listening stats are in

The new stats feature tracks your most-played artists and songs over the past month. However, it’s not just a list of numbers. Spotify includes personalized highlights each week, like how long you’ve been a fan of an artist, new discoveries you’ve made, or unique patterns in your listening habits.

You can also share your weekly stats or individual highlights directly through the app. Spotify lets you post to Instagram, WhatsApp, or send them to friends through Spotify’s new in-app messaging feature. Plus, Spotify will automatically create playlists based on your recent activity. These playlists mix your current favorites with recommendations for what you might want to hear next. The stats update every 24 hours, so you’re always looking at fresh data.

Getting to your stats takes just a few taps. Open the Spotify app and tap your profile icon in the top corner. Look for the “Listening Stats” section under “What’s New” and tap it. From there, you’ll see your top artists and songs laid out with weekly highlights you can share or save. The feature is available for both Free and Premium users.

This could change how you listen to music

One of the things we love about Spotify’s end-of-year Wrapped series is that it makes us go “wow” when we realize how many times we listened to a song. Or how many times we’ve streamed an album. Or how we might unknowingly favor a particular genre or artist.

With the Spotify Listening Stats feature, it could change how you engage with music on the platform. If you notice you’ve been stuck on the same two artists for three weeks straight, the auto-generated playlist might push you toward something fresh. Of course, you’re welcome to listen to whatever you want, but this could help break the monotony and help you find something totally new and unexpected.

WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Send Messages to Other Apps

7 November 2025 at 17:01
AH WhatsApp new design May 2024 image 1

The problem with third-party messenger apps is that they’re generally limited to each other. This means that if you’re using Telegram, you can only message Telegram users. That used to be the case with WhatsApp, but that could change as the latest beta reveals the ability to send a message to other apps.

WhatsApp will soon support message to other apps

whatsapp third party wabetainfo

According to the latest beta of WhatsApp, discovered by WABetaInfo, Meta is working on a feature that would allow the app to send a message to other apps. But this isn’t about Meta being “generous” or wanting to allow users to connect with others. It has to do with the EU’s Digital Markets Act.

For those unfamiliar, the DMA requires apps determined as “gatekeepers” to comply with certain policies if they want to continue to operate in the region. In this case, WhatsApp will have to allow users to send messages to other apps. Before you get too excited, note that for now it appears to be quite limited.

Based on the current beta, users can only send apps to BirdyChat. However, we imagine that it will eventually open up to other apps in the future. Also, note that there could be additional limitations. This is because each messenger app is different, so you might miss out on certain app-specific features. But if you’re just looking to send and receive messages, it should be more than sufficient.

EU only for now

For those living outside of the EU, the bad news is that the feature is only available to EU users. This is because Meta has to comply with the EU’s rules, so that’s why it’s EU-only. Will Meta eventually bring the feature to other markets? That remains to be seen, but we don’t see why they wouldn’t. However, when that will happen is unclear, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

If you do live in the EU, note that this feature is currently in beta. If you’re not part of the WhatsApp beta, you won’t see it yet. You’ll have to wait until WhatsApp rolls it out in the public release.

Google Drive Adds a Simple New Way to Protect Shared Files

7 November 2025 at 16:27
AH Google Drive 2024 image 6

Google Drive is improving the security of user data when it comes to file-sharing. After a new update, Google Drive now allows its users to set expirations on shared files and folders. The new feature ensures that access to such files automatically expires after a selected period by the sharer. Google Drive’s new functionality is useful for teams that handle confidential files, temporary projects, or sensitive client materials.

Google Drive users can now set expiration dates on shared files and folders

In 2023, Google introduced a new change in the Google Drive API, which allowed users to set an expiration date on files and folders that reside in shared drives. However, now Google Drive users can set expirations on shared files directly from the sharing dialog. The much-anticipated functionality brings the ease and security of My Drive access controls into collaborative shared drives, Google mentioned in a blog post.

After the new update, Google Drive can set an expiration date in the sharing dialog box for temporary collaborators using the “Add expiration” option from the drop-down menu. Once the expiration date passes, the system will automatically revoke access for other users, eliminating the need for manual backups.

Furthermore, Google Drive now allows users to apply an expiration date to the “Viewer role” for shared Drive folders. This allows you to automatically remove read-only access to files in the folder once a collaborator no longer needs it.

Google is also standardizing access expiration across Google Drive

Alongside the new Shared Drive update, the tech titan is also standardizing the expiration behavior in “My Drive. Earlier, if you gave someone temporary Editor access to a file within a folder, they could only view it later and lost access completely once that permission expired.

Google Drive Shared folder expirations

Now, when temporary Editor access ends, the user’s permission automatically reverts to the level they have on the parent folder, which is usually Viewer. It means the collaborators still keep basic access instead of losing it entirely.

Google Drive has started rolling out the new feature to Google Workspace customers, including Business, Enterprise, and Education editions. Personal Google Account users will get the new functionality in the coming weeks. Since it’s a gradual rollout, it could take a few weeks to reach all Google Drive users globally.

Currently, you can set sharing expirations on the web and on Android devices. iOS device users can’t set the same in My Drive or shared drives yet.

Samsung rolling out important Back Tap feature patch

By:Yash
7 November 2025 at 08:04

Samsung is rolling out a new RegiStar 1.0.67 version with an improved Back Tap feature. The release notes mention two bug fixes and a major improvement. It will elevate the back tap gesture functionality on Galaxy phones.

RegiStar 1.0.67 version aims to enhance Back Tap features on Samsung phones. It’s rolling out through Galaxy Store for compatible devices. You can also utilize the Good Lock app to install the new version of this plugin.

Samsung says the latest build brings fixes for a major Gemini bug. Galaxy users were facing issues launching the Gemini app on their flip phone’s cover screen. The new app build has addressed the issue for the Z Flip lineup.

There’s an additional improvement included for the Back Tap function. Galaxy users who use RegiStar in power saving mode will no longer face issues with Back Tap functionality.

Additionally, Samsung provides a Back Tap stability patch. While the details are unknown, this patch will kill all the glitches and issues causing the functionality to ruin the UX.

Here’s the changelog

  • Fixed Gemini app launch issue on Flip cover screen.
  • Fixed Back-Tap function error in power saving mode.
  • Applied Back Tap stability patch.

Get RegiStar 1.0.67 from Galaxy Store

Samsung is expected to make Back Tap a native feature in One UI 8.5. Users won’t be required to have Good Lock and RegiStar apps installed. It will offer additional convenience, and the load of unnecessary apps will also be reduced.

Well, RegiStar plugin isn’t just limited to backing Back Tap gestures. This Good Lock plugin allows you to configure the Settings app and press the side key, tap the back, or press the screen strongly to quickly launch useful features.

Google Messages increases pinned chat limit for easier conversation

7 November 2025 at 00:35

Google Messages has made a small change that could help a lot of people stay organized. The app now lets you pin up to 20 conversations at the top of your inbox, doubling the previous limit of 10.

Pinned conversations are useful when you don’t want to forget a message or when you want to keep important chats visible. For example, sometimes you get messages that you can’t reply to right away. By pinning them, they stay at the top of your messages list, even if new messages come in.

To pin a conversation, just press and hold the chat and tap the pushpin icon at the top of the screen. This is not the first time Google has increased the pin limit.

Google Messages Pin Limit

Image via Android Authority

When the feature first appeared, users could pin only three conversations. Later, it increased to five, then ten, and now 20. The new limit is available in both the beta version and the regular stable version of Google Messages, so most users should be able to use it now.

Obviously, having 20 pinned chats can also get a little crowded. If you pin too many conversations, new messages may get pushed down, which is exactly what the feature is trying to avoid. It might be a good idea to check your pinned chats and reply to some before adding more.

Even though it’s a small change, it can make Google Messages more helpful for people who have many important conversations to manage. Being able to pin 20 conversations in Google Messages makes it easier to stay on top of your messages.

Google Maps could soon help you find shady walking routes

6 November 2025 at 23:07

Google Maps might soon get a new feature that helps you stay cool while walking. Google is currently testing a new “Prefer shade” option in the app. This feature could let users choose walking routes that have more shade, helping them avoid the hot sun while getting to their destination.

The “Prefer shade” option has been found by Android Authority in the latest version (version 25.45.02.826664481) of the Google Maps app for Android. The report says this new tool will work only for walking directions.

Google Maps may even show how many minutes of your walk will be in the sun. The toggle for this feature was seen in the Trip Options menu, but it doesn’t work yet.

Google Maps Prefer shade-feature

Image via Android Authority

It’s not yet clear how Google will figure out which paths are shady or sunny. One idea is that Google could use LiDAR technology, which is already used by its Street View cars. LiDAR can scan streets and buildings to create detailed 3D maps. By combining this with information about the sun’s position and time of day, Google could predict where shade will fall.

Other apps have tried something similar before. In 2018, an app called Parasol offered shaded walking routes using LiDAR and sunlight data. Another app, Cool Walks, used the same idea to map shady streets in Barcelona.

This new Google Maps feature could be very helpful, especially during hot weather or heatwaves. It could also benefit people who are sensitive to sunlight or simply don’t like walking in the heat. If Google launches this “Prefer shade” option, walking could become a lot more comfortable.

YouTube Rolling Out AI Age Verification to New Batch of Users

6 November 2025 at 22:00

YouTube expands its age verification to more users. Google first announced the restriction back in July this year, noting that it would implement these checks in August. However, it wasn’t until late September that a large group of users actually saw the verification hit their accounts. Google will leverage AI to identify viewers under the age of 18. This verification brings some notable restrictions, including blocking age-restricted videos.

YouTube expands AI age verification to more users

Several YouTube users took to Reddit to report that their accounts are seeing restrictions under the AI age verification rule. YouTube will use metrics like the age of the account and the activity to determine if you’re above or below the age of 18.

If it determines that you are under 18 years old, you will receive a notification. Much like last time, you can just accept the restrictions or verify that you are over age 18. You can do so by using an official ID, taking a selfie, or using a credit card. YouTube uses these details to estimate your age.

YouTube will block age-restricted videos

If you’re really under 18, YouTube’s restrictions include blocking age-restricted videos and showing only non-personalized ads. Digital Wellbeing tools will be on by default, including “take a break” and bedtime reminders. It’ll show reminders about privacy when uploading a video or commenting publicly.

YouTube would start minimizing “recommendations of videos with content that could be problematic if viewed repeatedly.” Uploads will be private by default. YouTube will restrict the ability to earn from gifts on vertical live streams.

Google Pixel Phones Get One-Tap Themes to Challenge Rivals' Customization

6 November 2025 at 20:49
Google Pixel phone theme packs featured

For years, dedicated Android enthusiasts have pointed to one major flaw in Google’s Pixel lineup: its limited customization compared to rivals like Samsung and OnePlus. Pixel devices lead the way on software updates and AI features. However, personalization has often been a weak point. Now, Google is taking a step to address this with the release of the new “Theme packs” app for Pixel Phones on the Play Store.

This new feature, recently leaked, promises to be a game-changer for speed. It allows users to apply a complete aesthetic overhaul—including Wallpaper, Dynamic Color schemes, icons, clock style, and even system sounds—with a single tap. This approach streamlines the process, eliminating the manual effort previously required to coordinate a custom look across the entire interface.

Google fixes—partially—Pixel’s biggest weakness with instant, one-tap themes

Theme packs are designed for efficiency, delivering an “instant refresh.” However, while this one-tap method partially closes the customization gap, it is important to note the nature of the solution. The packs offer pre-designed aesthetics, meaning users gain speed but sacrifice the granular control and deep-level customization that third-party launchers or manufacturer skins (like Samsung’s One UI) offer. For the Pixel to truly catch up, users will need more than pre-made bundles.

The app itself is currently a system component available for download now (on Pixel 6 and newer devices), but it remains inactive. Users must wait for a future system update to integrate the feature into the existing “Wallpaper & style” settings menu. This update, the upcoming Pixel feature drop, could arrive this month or in December.

A commercial road ahead

The first theme pack available for preview is based on the movie sequel, Wicked: For Good!. This move toward cinematic tie-ins suggests that Google views Theme packs as an ideal platform for marketing collaborations.

Ultimately, Theme packs represent Google’s clearest effort yet to improve the customization experience on Pixel. It’s a nice step that offers immediate, full-system reskins. However, the feature’s nature means Pixel still has considerable ground to cover before it truly rivals the deep personalization capabilities offered by other top-tier Android brands.

Nova Launcher Is Back From the Dead with Two Unexpected Updates

For many Android enthusiasts, the loss of Nova Launcher felt like the end of an era. When the original developer team confirmed their departure from Branch Metrics—the company that acquired the popular launcher in 2022—fans assumed the beloved, highly customizable app had finally reached the end of its road. But now, in an unexpected twist, the mythical Nova Launcher seems to be making a return. That said, there are nuances you should be aware of.

In the span of just two weeks, Nova Launcher received not one, but two updates. Users initially saw a surprise v8.1.3 build hitting their devices, quickly followed by a v8.1.4 beta release. This rapid succession of updates suggests that Branch Metrics is now actively maintaining the code base.

The Nova Launcher return: Who is working on the Android app updates now?

The sudden resurrection, however, comes with a healthy dose of mystery. Former Nova developer Rob Wainwright clarified that the initial v8.1.3 update primarily consisted of old work the original team completed over a year ago but never pushed live. Essentially, the first new update in months was a ghost from Nova’s past. The more recent v8.1.4 follows this pattern. It focuses entirely on bug fixes and stability improvements, rather than introducing new features.

The key takeaway is this: the original developers who built the application are no longer involved. The development torch now lies entirely with the team at Branch Metrics. Active maintenance is certainly better than abandonment. However, this transition raises serious questions in the community regarding data control and transparency.

An open future

For users, the main concerns revolve around the future roadmap. Will the new bosses continue to push out regular fixes, or will this emerge from activity fizzle out? More importantly, will Branch Metrics invest in the development of ambitious new features that defined Nova’s status as a fan favorite? Or will the launcher become a stability-focused background project?

Perhaps the biggest question involves data and privacy. Since the founding team can no longer vouch for the app’s internal workings, users must trust that the new developers will adhere to the privacy standards established by the original crew.

For now, the simple fact that Nova Launcher is receiving attention and updates is attracting the community’s attention, albeit with some apprehension. In the end, it seems the iconic launcher isn’t dead but rather starting a new, slightly mysterious chapter. Fans will surely be watching the new management’s moves closely to see what happens next.

Tinder’s New AI Feature Wants to Analyze Your Photos

6 November 2025 at 17:03
AH Tinder app dating image 1

When we create an online dating profile, we kind of put ourselves out there. We share a lot of personal and private information. But as if that wasn’t enough, it seems that Tinder wants to use AI to go through your photos to learn more about your interests and personality.

Tinder wants to use AI to look through your photos

During Match Group’s Tuesday’s earnings call, the company told investors that Tinder would be testing a feature called Chemistry. This feature will basically leverage the use of AI to go through photos on your phone’s camera roll in order to know more about your interests to find you a best match on Tinder.

This sounds like a huge invasion of privacy, although Match Group claims that users will have to grant the app permission to do so. This means that until you grant it permission, your camera roll on your phone should be safe from Tinder’s AI. The Chemistry feature will also see the users answer interactive questions to find them better and more compatible matches.

This is actually not Tinder’s first time using AI in the app. Prior to this, the company used AI to detect when users were about to send a message that was potentially offensive. It would nudge them to make sure the user is sure. It also uses AI to help users pick out their best photos.

AI in the dating world

Tinder is also not the first to try and use AI in dating. In a recent story published on the New York Times, there is a startup called Known that lets users chat with an AI matchmaker. It would ask users questions like their personal preferences and red flags they want to avoid. It would then try to find the user a match and then for a fee, it would let the users meet up with each other in real-life.

But it’s not surprising that dating apps are turning to AI. It seems that many of these online dating services are seeing a decline in subscribers. Over the last year, platforms like Bumble lost 9% of its paid subscribers. Match Group lost 5%.

We’re also seeing more people turning to AI companions. Seeing how much AI has advanced, many of these AI companions are able to respond in a very convincing manner.

Gemini Comes to Google Maps for Conversational Driving Experience

6 November 2025 at 03:01
Google Gemini Cars Android Auto Featured AH 1

It’s not hidden anymore that Google has been integrating Gemini into almost all of its apps and services in some way or another. Now, the company has announced a bunch of Gemini updates for Google Maps that will offer a “hands-free, conversational driving experience.”

You can ask Gemini to do a few things while navigating via Google Maps

Thanks to the latest update, Gemini can help you find places along your route just by asking. You can even ask it to look for EV charging stations around and share ETA with your family and friends. That’s not all; you can also ask the AI assistant to add tasks to your calendar lists. To do so, Gemini asks for your permission, though.

Speaking of multi-step tasks, Gemini is equally handy in Google Maps after the update. If you are driving and looking for some food along the route, you can simply ask, “Is there a budget-friendly restaurant with vegan options along my route, something within a couple miles? … What’s parking like there?” You can follow up the questions with “OK, let’s go there,” and Maps will navigate accordingly. That said, you can be more specific about the places you are heading to. In this case, you can ask Gemini to search for popular cuisine at that restaurant.

Moving on, you can also report any traffic disruptions along the way just by mentioning them to Gemini. All the aforementioned features start rolling out next week to Google Maps on Android and iOS, where Gemini is available. Google says that a similar update for Android Auto is on the way.

As part of this update, Google is also adding landmarks like gas stations, restaurants, and famous buildings that are easy to spot along the route. Rather than hearing, “turn right in 500 feet,” you’ll hear “turn right after the Thai Siam Restaurant.” You’ll also see the landmarks highlighted in the Maps. Gemini does all that by analyzing Google Maps’ information database and cross-referencing it with Street View images.

You can report road or traffic conditions just by mentioning them to Gemini

One of the nightmares while driving is heavy traffic and road disruptions, right? Not anymore, because Google Maps can give you a heads up about the traffic or road conditions along your way. Google calls it “Proactive traffic alerts,” and it is rolling out for Android users in the US.

Last but not least, you can also chat with Google Maps about highly-rated places that you pass by. You can simply tap on the camera in the search bar and point the camera towards the place you want to know more about. Once you see pins, you can ask questions about that place. The feature, which Google calls “Lens built with Gemini,” will gradually roll out to Google Maps on iOS and Android for users in the US later this month.

Epic's win in court could be an epic win for developers globally

6 November 2025 at 01:24
Fortnite AH NS 11 Epic Games

Epic and Google have agreed to a settlement in court that could very well change the pace of things for app and game developers far into the future. If you have somehow forgotten about Epic and Google’s legal battle over the Play Store, the most recent development in the case is that the two have agreed to settle on a proposed set of terms that works out for more than just developers in the US and for a much longer period of time than Epic was initially demanding.

After Epic’s win in court, Google was ordered to open up the Play Store to third-party app store developers and allow them to offer alternative payment processing methods to Google Play. Thereby allowing them to avoid Google’s hefty fee. This was supposed to be allowed for three years. After Google took things to the Supreme Court, it has now reached a settlement with Epic Games that potentially works out better for all involved.

The Epic and Google settlement includes lower fees and an extended timeframe for the changes

The key factor in the settlement is that the injunction ordered by Judge James Donato now applies to Google’s markets outside the US. Initially, Donato’s injunction was only for the US market. This is a big win for all developers as it now encompasses more of them. That means more competition and more choice for users.

Google has also agreed to lower Play Store fees for certain kinds of payments. Google says it will depend on what the payment is for and when an app or game was first installed. However, when applicable, fees could be as low as 20% or 9%, depending on those factors.

Google and Epic will still need Judge James Donato to approve the settlement terms. So, as of right now, nothing is set in stone. That being said, the settlement appears to work in everyone’s favor. Google is happy with it (as shown by Sameer Samat’s post on X), and Epic is happy with it. Even developers will likely be happy with it. All that remains is to see if Donato is happy with it.

Google Play Store Digital Gift Cards Now Cover Dozens of Popular Brands

6 November 2025 at 00:53
Google Play Store AM AH

The Google Play Store is a great place to buy apps, movies, books, and more. But if you’re looking for digital gift cards, you’re in luck. According to a report from Droid-Life, they have discovered that Google is allowing users to buy digital gift cards from the Play Store itself. This means you won’t have to jump between apps to get your gift cards.

Grab digital gift cards from the Google Play Store

Google is partnering with Blackhawk Network to roll out this new digital gift card mall for the Play Store. It also appears to be live for users in the United States, United Kingdom, and Mexico. The feature gives you access to major retailers, dining spots, and entertainment brands without ever leaving the Play Store app. You can browse, buy, and send cards via email or text in just a few taps.

Finding the Google Play Store digital gift cards section is simple. Open the app, search “gift cards,” or tap your profile picture and select “Gift Cards.” From there, pick a brand, choose the amount, add a personal message if you want, and send it off. The whole process happens inside the Play Store. This means no redirects, no extra logins, and no jumping around between different websites.

Right now, the feature works best on mobile devices. Desktop support isn’t fully rolled out yet, so stick to your phone or tablet for the best experience. Once you’ve sent the gift card, recipients should get a digital code they can redeem online or in-store, depending on the brand.

What this means for users and brands

For brands, selling their gift cards through Google Play Store is actually a smart play. This is because it creates a direct line to over 2.5 billion monthly users across 190+ markets. While these gift cards can be purchased from other places, having an all-in-one storefront will make it easier.

Google Play has come a long way from simply offering its own store credit. You can still send Google Play credit to friends, but now the options extend to dozens of third-party brands. This will definitely make it easier for users to send more specific gifts, rather than generic Google Play credit.

Google Puts AI Front and Center in Chrome (Literally)

Google Chrome AI Mode featured

Earlier this year, reports started saying Google will add its AI Mode to Chrome. Last month, Google upgraded AI Mode in Google Search, and now, it’s finally arriving to Chrome, as expected.

AI Mode has made its way to Google Chrome

Google has confirmed that “Chrome enters a new era with AI”, as the company is adding AI Mode right to the landing page. This is Google’s “most powerful AI search experience”, and it’s now landing on both Android and iOS.

The company says that the feature is becoming available today in the US. Google did promise that this AI Mode shortcut will soon be coming to 160 new countries and other languages. That includes Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and more. That also goes for desktop and mobile platforms.

With that being said, Google is adding the AI Mode button right under the regular search bar in Chrome. Whenever you open a ‘New Tab’ page in Chrome, you’ll see it waiting for you, as shown below.

AI Mode, needless to say, will allow you to “ask more complex, multi-part questions, and then dive even deeper into a topic with follow-up questions and relevant links.”

AI Mode recently got a major upgrade

Earlier in the article, we mentioned that AI Mode in Search got an upgrade not long ago. Google updated it with visual and conversational capabilities powered by Gemini 2.5. That update allowed users to search naturally, start with an image, and refine queries to get rich visual results.

All that is available here as well, of course. This AI Mode addition to Chrome is basically just a shortcut addition. Once you tap it, you’ll have all the benefits that AI Mode search delivers, of course.

We presume this is a server-side change for Google, the addition of this shortcut. Just make sure you’re on the latest version of Chrome, and you’re good to go. If you’re in the US, you should be seeing the change soon, if it’s not already there by the time you’re seeing this.

Google Maps levels up with Gemini’s AI upgrades

5 November 2025 at 22:55

Google Maps is adding new features to make navigation and exploring places easier and more useful. The updates use Google’s Gemini AI to give clearer directions and helpful information about locations.

The new feature is landmark-based navigation. Instead of just saying “turn in 500 feet” or showing traffic lights and stop signs, Maps can now use nearby landmarks to guide you.

For example, it could say, “turn right after the Thai Siam Restaurant,” and highlight that landmark on your map. Google will only use landmarks that are easy to see from the street, so you don’t get confused.

Gemini’s AI looks at Street View images and compares them with Google Maps’ 250 million places to make sure the landmarks are accurate. This feature is rolling out now as the default on Android and iOS in the US.

Google Maps is also introducing traffic alerts that work even when you are not using navigation. The app can notify you about traffic jams, road closures, or delays on your regular routes. This feature is available now for Android users in the US.

Moreover, there’s also an improved Google Lens inside Maps. You can point Lens at a location and ask questions like, “What is this place?” “Why do people like it?” or “Do they accept walk-ins?” Gemini AI will provide quick answers using information from Google Maps.

An updated Google Lens of Google Maps will roll out gradually later this month on Android and iOS in the US. Stay tuned for more information.

Over 42 Million Malicious Android Apps Downloaded from Google Play — Here’s What You Need to Know

5 November 2025 at 18:43
phone malware trojan featured

Official app storefronts like Google Play often boast that it has tighter security measures and systems in place to prevent malware downloads. But there’s no such thing as a perfect system. In fact, a recent report from cloud security company, Zscaler, revealed that malicious Android apps have been downloaded from Google Play a whopping 42 million times.

Malicious Android apps are slipping past Google’s defenses

The report revealed that these malicious Android apps were downloaded more than 40 million times between June 2024 and May 2025. The company also noticed a 67% year-over-year growth in malware, specifically those that are targeting mobile devices. We’re talking about spyware and banking trojans being of particular note.

According to Zscaler, “To carry out these attacks, cybercriminals deploy phishing trojans and malicious apps designed to steal financial information and login credentials.” Interestingly enough, out of all the attacks, the US, Canada, and India received about 55% of them.

The company has also announced three of the most notable malware that have affected Android users. This includes Anatsa, which was first discovered in 2020. The latest version can apparently steal data from over 831 financial organizations and crypto platforms. Then there is Void, a malware targeting Android TV boxes and has infected at least 1.6 million devices to date. However, these devices are running outdated versions of AOSP.

Last but not least is Xnotice. This is a relatively new remote access trojan that seems to target users who are looking for jobs in the oil and gas industry.

How to protect yourself?

One of the easiest ways to protect yourself is to download apps from official storefronts. We know we said that no system is perfect, but Google has done a pretty good job so far. Also, be sure to check the reviews of the apps and see who are its developers. This is important because sometimes some developers might try to trick users with similar sounding apps.

Reviews will also tell you if an app is legitimate. If there are many bad reviews, then stay away. Lastly, avoid downloading apps from suspicious sources, including APK files sent via email. This is an easy way for hackers to slip malware into your phone without knowing.

Google Play Store users gain access to digital gift cards from top brands

5 November 2025 at 17:57

Google has added a new and exciting feature to the Play Store that is the ability to buy and send digital gift cards from well-known brands. Users can now purchase gift cards for Disney, Starbucks, AMC, Adidas, American Eagle, Athleta, and many more, all directly from the Google Play Store app.

This new feature makes gifting easier than ever. You can send a digital gift card straight to someone’s email or phone. This makes it a quick and thoughtful way to surprise friends or family.

To use the feature, open the Play Store app on your device and search for “gift cards.” A special banner will guide you to the new gift card shop. You can also tap your profile icon in the top-right corner and choose the “Gift Cards” option from the menu. From there, simply pick a brand, select how much you want to spend, and add a personal message before sending it.

Currently, the digital gift card option is available in three countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. There are also daily purchase limits that vary by country. For example, users in the US can buy up to $250 worth of digital gift cards each day.

This update shows Google’s plan to expand the Play Store beyond apps and games. By adding well-known retail and entertainment brands, Google is turning the Play Store into a convenient hub for digital shopping and gifting. With just a few taps, you can send a meaningful digital gift, as no physical card is required.

5 November 2025 at 16:49

Google is rolling out a redesigned Quick Share for Windows, adopting an Expressive design. The entire app’s user interface hasn’t grabbed the Expressive redesign, but it’s limited to the Settings menu for Windows PCs.

Quick Share homepage has simplified the “Who can share with you” entries with simpler terms. The send and receive cards have also been unified in a bigger box. The option to let “everyone for 10 minutes” has also been easily made available.

The sharing progress page now divides your devices and other devices into different sections. This page was just limited to listing nearby devices on the sharing progress page.

Next is the Settings UI of the Quick Share application. The redesign includes boxes grouping settings together and lines dividing each individual entry.

Google has just begun the rollout of this new Quick Share design for Windows PC users. You can install the latest version 1.0.2351.1 with an upgraded UI. It seems a server-side rollout, so you may also need to wait for expansion.

Quick Share for Android has already tweaked its design. With Google’s bringing the changes to the app’s PC version, it’s an attempt to offer a universal appearance across operating systems.

Google’s Quick Share remains a perfect tool for data transfers across platforms. After a successful launch on Android, it landed on Windows before leaving its Nearby Share identity.

Google Meet and Chat Integration Lets You Catch Up on a Missed Meeting

Google Meet for web updated UI Logo DG AH 2022

Google is bringing Meet and Chat integration, so you can get the gist of a crucial meeting that you missed. Starting November 10th, your Google Meet in-meeting messages will be available in Google Chat. This means the messages or key resources, like links that were shared during the meeting in a shared Google Chat conversation, will be accessible to meeting attendees after the meeting is done.

Your Google Meet in-meeting messages will soon be available in Chat

Google, in a blog post, says that this change improves post-meeting follow-through. The company believes that this will increase productivity. This also consolidates all your messaging and conversations into Google Chat, thereby making it easy to find messages or shared files in one place.

Attendees can send “pre-reads and other meeting materials” to the group ahead of the meeting in Google Chat. These resources will be available in Google Meet throughout the call. Additionally, attendees can now respond to messages with emojis, creating a fun environment.

Notably, the integration is designed for Google Calendar-scheduled calls. However, meeting hosts can still disable the feature for any meeting. They need to do so before the call starts from the Google Calendar event’s video call options screen.

Google Meet Chat Integration

The integration brings emoji reactions

For security reasons, external attendees will only have access to the chat during the time they’re in the meeting. They will not be able to participate in a conversation before a meeting, nor see the conversation after the meeting. Internal attendees will see clear ‘external’ indicators and banners when guests are present in the conversations.

The Google Chat and Meeting integration is only coming to Google Workspace business and enterprise customers, for now. Enterprise Essentials, Essentials Plus, Enterprise Starter, Standard, Plus, Business Starter, Standard, Plus, Frontline Starter, Standard, and Plus customers will be the first to gain access to this. Google notes that the rollout can take 15-30 days, depending on account type.

OpenAI’s viral AI video generation tool, Sora, is officially expanding its reach. After a successful debut on iOS last month, the company has released the dedicated Sora app on Android. The move finally makes its hyperrealistic video capabilities available to millions more users via the Google Play Store.

Sora, which shares its name with the underlying video generation model, quickly became a social media phenomenon upon its initial release. The app allows users to create stunning and realistic videos—complete with audio and impressive physics. All you need is to type a text prompt or start with an existing image. OpenAI boasts that if you can type it, you can watch it, enabling everything from simple animations to surreal, cinematic scenes.

Sora arrives on Google Play for all eligible Android users

Other models, like Google’s Veo 3, can also generate videos. However, Sora packages this functionality into a focused, social experience. The app allows users to create videos in seconds, choose specific styles (cinematic, photorealistic, or surreal), and even inject themselves or friends into the resulting clips. Importantly, Sora encourages collaborative creativity by letting users “remix” others’ creations. “Remix” consists of swapping characters or changing the vibe of existing scenes.

The app’s popularity on Apple’s App Store was immediate, racking up over a million downloads in its first five days. It even dominated the app download rankings for several weeks. With the Android release, Sora aims to grow its user base significantly, potentially challenging rivals like Google’s Gemini in the charts.

Access still controlled

However, access is currently controlled. Users still need an invite code to actively use the app’s generation features. The launch is also limited to select nations. The list includes the U.S., Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. That said, the expansion to Android signals OpenAI’s clear intent to bring its powerful AI generation tools to a truly global audience.

Lastly, OpenAI also encourages users to be responsible and tag their creations as AI-generated when uploading to social media platforms.

Gemini Takeover: Option to Switch Back to Google Assistant to Vanish Soon

Google Gemini AH

The end is officially near for Google Assistant. Google has already been slowly transitioning users to its more advanced Gemini AI model. Now, recent findings in the app’s code confirm the final stage of that transition: soon, users will lose the ability to switch back to the legacy Google Assistant entirely in favor of Gemini.

For the last year, Google offered a “safety net.” The signature allowed users who preferred the old experience to revert to Assistant through a simple setting. Those days are numbered. Google is now actively working to remove the choice screen from Gemini and the “Digital assistants from Google” settings menu. This move effectively locks users into the Gemini experience.

Google Assistant Is dead: Gemini prepares to become your only AI option

Beyond the philosophical shift away from Assistant, Google is introducing several user interface improvements to make the Gemini experience cleaner and more efficient for everyday use (spotted by Android Authority). When the AI is working on a complex query, users will see a refreshed processing animation. The latter will improve the visual feedback, letting people know instantly that Google is working on their request.

Google is also addressing the clutter that often plagues long, in-depth AI chats. With that in mind, the firm is implementing conversation management tools. They are adding “expand” and “collapse” buttons for long user queries, a feature already available on the web version of Gemini. This helps declutter the mobile interface by hiding the full text of a long prompt once the AI has responded.

Furthermore, there will be a new “Jump to bottom” button to navigate extensive conversation histories. This simple addition is highly useful for quickly catching up on the latest response without endlessly scrolling through previous exchanges.

Fans of the classic Google Assistant may mourn the loss of the familiar voice model. However, the move to Gemini is inevitable. Google is betting that the enhanced AI capabilities and the streamlined new interface will prove far more valuable than clinging to the past. The final switch may happen via a server-side update soon, making Gemini your only option.

Google Maps will soon help you stay in the right lane

4 November 2025 at 22:45

Google Maps is getting a smart new feature called live lane guidance to make driving easier and safer. This update will soon be available in cars that have Google built in, starting with the Polestar 4 in the US and Sweden.

Live lane guidance helps drivers stay in the correct lane while following directions. It uses a car’s front camera to look at lane markings and road signs. Then, AI studies what the camera sees and matches it with Google Maps in real time. This means the app can tell exactly which lane you are in and give you clear, personal directions.

For example, if you are driving in the far-left lane but your exit is on the right, Google Maps will notice this and tell you both with sounds and on-screen directions to move over before it’s too late. This can help you avoid missing turns or making sudden lane changes.

At first, this feature will only be available in Polestar 4 cars. However, Google plans to bring it to more car brands and countries in the future. The aim is to make driving smoother and help people feel more confident, especially on roads they don’t know well.

Even though Google Maps already gives good directions, live lane guidance takes things a step further. Combining smart AI with real-world camera views makes navigation more accurate and less stressful.

Google Maps will do more than just show the way, as it will also make sure you’re in the right lane to get there safely and easily. Stay tuned for more information.

Google Messages Will Get AI Image Editing Directly in Your Chats

4 November 2025 at 18:12
oplus 3145728

It seems that Google has set out to integrate the latest advanced image model into every possible service. Your next destination is Android‘s messaging experience. Code discovered in the latest beta version of Google Messages reveals the imminent launch of a “Remix,” a feature powered by its Nano Banana AI model, which will allow users to generate and edit images using text prompts right inside their chats.

The Nano Banana model, officially known as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, boasts an exceptional ability to maintain the likeness of people and objects while altering style, background, or other details. Now, Google is about to integrate this magic where users need it most: in real-time conversations.

Google to bring Nano Banana-powered AI image editing to Messages: ‘Remix” feature

As spotted by Android Authority, Google will cleverly integrate the functionality into the app’s workflow. When composing a message and selecting an image from the media picker, users will see a new Remix option. Tapping this button will prompt an initial agreement to send the image to Google’s servers for processing.

Once enabled, users enter a simple text prompt describing the desired changes. You could take a photo of your dog, for example, and prompt it to “put him in a spacesuit on the moon.” Google processes the request and presents the generated image. If you like it, tapping “Done” replaces the original image with the new, remixed version. So, it will be ready to send it to your friends.

The Remix feature isn’t limited to images you are sending. Users can also access Nano Banana by long-pressing an image received in a chat. This allows you to remix photos from others, giving a fun, collaborative twist to conversations.

Expecting some limits

As is common with generative AI features, Google is expected to implement some guardrails and limits. Code within the app suggests that the Remix option will only appear when a single image is selected from the media picker. More importantly, there are hints that Google will place a daily limit on the number of images a user can remix.

It remains unclear whether users with paid subscriptions (like Google AI Pro or Ultra) will receive higher daily limits than those on the free tier. But the groundwork for monetization or controlled usage is clearly being laid.

It seems that all the necessary code is already functional within the beta app. So, the official rollout of the Nano Banana-powered Remix feature will likely be just a server-side switch away. This integration will totally transform the creative possibilities within Google Messages.

TikTok Announces Its First-Ever US Awards Show to Celebrate Creators

4 November 2025 at 17:23

From being a video platform that hosted a lot of silly memes and dance videos, TikTok has grown into the social media juggernaut that we all know (and use) today. Perhaps looking to seal its legitimacy, TikTok has announced its first-ever awards show in the US.

TikTok to host its first-ever awards show in the US

According to the announcement on its website, the company will be hosting the TikTok Awards show in the US on Thursday, December 18. The event will be hosted at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. It will celebrate creators with awards and titles. This includes Creator of the Year, Video of the Year, Muse of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and more.

The nominees for Creator of the Year include adamw, alixearle, brookemonk_, keith_lee125, and kristy.sarah. As for the nominees for Video of the Year, those include videos by bretmanrock, chrisandfinck, ronclark__, taylortiminskas, and turkuazkitchen. TikTok is also celebrating CapCut creators, with nominees that include allthatisshe, liahyoo, paigepiskin, recider, and thesocialcreativesclub.

According to TikTok, “Premiering the TikTok Awards in the US marks the start of a new era for our community — honoring creators who’ve turned passion into purpose across every category. Speciality areas from our platform will also have their moment to shine.”

Not the first awards show

While the TikTok Awards might be the first for the company, it’s not the only one. Other platforms such as YouTube have hosted their own. We’re talking about the YouTube Streamy Awards, which has been held annually since around 2009. While Instagram doesn’t have its own award show, it does have the Rings Awards program.

This is less of an awards show and more about creators receiving physical gold rings and digital rings that they can use as their profiles. Social media has definitely come a long way since it first debuted. The rise in our consumption has allowed many creators to turn it into legitimate careers, with some earning millions from their videos, turning them into celebrities.

Google Messages is testing a Nano Banana-powered AI Remix feature that will offer instant image creation and editing perks.

Samsung phone users will also benefit from this Google Messages upgrade that will let them create and edit images using the AI feature backed by Nano Banana.

While Google is testing the feature internally, folks over at AndroidAuthority managed to activate it early. The feature has been accessed in working state, while the development is still underway so more refinements in the pipeline.

Following the successful testing, Google Messages will add the Remix feature of Nano Banana. It will be accessible by a button, and you will be able to instantly create and edit images right within your ongoing chat seamlessly.

The option will be available within the Media Picker when you intend to select an image in the chat screen. Launching the Remix feature for the first time will take you through its quick tour that also includes consent to terms.

Once you accept Google’s terms by hitting Continue, the app will redirect you to “a new screen where you will see some suggestion prompts, alongside an input box where you can insert your own prompt.”

Based on the text prompt, Google Messages will create an image. If you need some changes, there’s a Remix tool that lets you do so. Once done, you can hit “Done” to take the edited image into effect and share within the chat.

Google Messages will also let you remix images from the chat screen itself. Just press and hold onto an image in the chat screen and hit the Remix button. It will function on both, sent and recieved, images within Google Messages.

Google Translate Now Lets You Prioritize Precision Over Speed

4 November 2025 at 00:50
AH Google Translate 2024 image 2

Google Translate is rolling out one of its biggest changes in years. The popular service is getting a direct feature selection that puts users in control of their translations. A new model picker, which is beginning to appear for some Google Translate users, allows you to choose between prioritizing speed or accuracy for text translations.

This update signals a deeper integration of large language models—likely leveraging Gemini AI. The platform has always offered fast, on-the-fly results. However, this change aims at those more complex cases that require more power and precision for a correct translation.

Google Translate gets Accuracy vs Speed picker for complex translations

The new feature adds a visible “model picker” button under the Google Translate logo. Users can tap this indicator to toggle between two modes. The Advanced setting is the default option. The “Advanced” option uses a model designed specifically for higher accuracy in complex translations. Early testing confirms this mode significantly improves contextual understanding and literary accuracy compared to the standard system.

Meanwhile, the Fast alternative is optimized for speed and efficiency. It’s best suited for those moments when you need quick, basic results without waiting for the full power of the advanced model to load.

The model picker only applies to typed text translation requests, which leaves live translation features unaffected. For now, the feature is visible only to a small selection of users, primarily on the iOS version of the app. Plus, the Advanced mode currently supports only a select few language pairs, such as English-French and English-Spanish. This limited scope is likely because running high-accuracy models requires significant computing resources.

Google Translate’s new “Accuracy vs Speed” option leads to speculation about pricing. Google has recently placed more advanced features under its Google AI Pro subscription umbrella. Google Translate has historically been free for everyone. But the company may eventually choose to restrict access to the high accuracy “Advanced” model to its paying subscribers. Regardless of the final pricing strategy, this feature is a nice step forward. It transforms the app into a more flexible service where users can actively choose the level of AI power they need.

Bluesky Introduces Dislikes as The Platform Hits 40 Million Users

3 November 2025 at 19:29

Microblogging social network app Bluesky last week announced a big milestone: 40 million users. Today, the company is bringing new experiments primarily built around the notion of “social proximity.” Bluesky is bringing in “Dislikes,” which will serve as a signal for the kinds of posts you don’t want in your Discover feed. Besides this, there are a host of other experiments to improve conversations on the platform.

Bluesky hits 40 million users milestone

Days after hitting 40 million users, Bluesky is adding new tools. Bluesky says it will use the dislikes option as a new feedback signal to improve user personalization. When users dislike posts, the system will learn what sort of posts you’d prefer to see less of. This could also affect reply ranking, reducing the visibility of low-quality replies.

Bluesky says that Dislikes are private and the signal isn’t global, mainly affecting your own experience and, to some extent, others in your “social neighborhood.” The beta testing of dislikes will start soon.

Improved toxic detection

The company notes that it’s testing a mix of ranking updates, design changes, and new feedback tools. These improve the quality of conversations and “give people more control over their experience.” The company is prioritizing replies from people closer to your neighborhood. This can apparently make conversations feel more relevant and familiar.

Bluesky says the latest model does a better job at detecting replies that are toxic, spammy, off-topic, or posted in bad faith. It says that posts that cross the line are down-ranked in reply threads, search results, and notifications. This will reduce their visibility while keeping conversations open for “good-faith discussion.”

Refreshed reply settings

While the platform already offers ways to limit replies to only people who follow you, it’s now building on that. Bluesky is testing a small change to how the “Reply” button works on top-level posts. Instead of jumping straight into the composer, it now takes you to the full thread first. It believes that this will encourage users to read before replying.

The company is also tweaking the reply settings feature to make it more visible to users. This should give users more control over who can reply and shape their own conversations. Lastly, Bluesky notes that it’ll keep refining these systems and “measuring their impact” on how people experience. These changes join the emoji reactions and a new Explore page that were introduced in April.

2 November 2025 at 11:09
AI image 384589348953489

Artificial intelligence has become part of everyday life, with apps that can write, edit, create, and even talk to you. Whether you’re using your phone for work, study, or creativity, the best ai apps for Android make it easier to get things done. For businesses looking to integrate advanced AI tools, expert support from artificial intelligence consultants in the UK can ensure seamless implementation and smarter results.

This article explores the top AI apps currently available on the Google Play Store, covering ai features, pricing, and what makes each AI app stand out for Android users.

1. Google Gemini

Google Gemini is the latest evolution of Google AI, designed to help Android users work smarter. It’s tightly integrated with Google Workspace, meaning it connects effortlessly with Gmail, Docs, and other apps you already use. Gemini acts as both an AI assistant and an AI companion, helping with long documents, data summaries, and even creative writing.

It also offers image generation through text prompts, allowing you to create images directly from ideas or examples. Thanks to deep research capabilities and access to real-time Google search results, Gemini can answer complex questions and explain key points clearly. While the free version is useful, you may need to pay extra for the full suite of additional features.

2. ChatGPT App

The ChatGPT app remains one of the best AI chatbots for Android devices. It’s built around powerful AI engines that can generate text, answer questions, and assist with daily tasks. Many developers and businesses rely on it for writing support, creative brainstorming, and quick explanations.

The app’s ability to understand context makes it ideal for answering questions or reworking long documents into concise summaries. Even ChatGPT can now integrate with other apps, helping users access external data and services. Its free version includes plenty of functionality, but professional users can pay for advanced AI models offering deeper insights and faster responses.

3. Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot is an AI tool built for productivity across the Microsoft ecosystem. Designed to integrate with Word, Excel, and Outlook, it supports Android users who depend on cloud-based work. Copilot uses AI-powered algorithms to analyse data, generate content, and automate repetitive tasks.

The AI features make it particularly valuable for business users needing to draft reports, summarise meetings, or generate visual explanations from raw data. It’s a strong contender among top ai apps for Android due to its ability to connect to your Microsoft account and sync seamlessly between devices.

4. Perplexity AI

Perplexity AI is a rising star among free AI apps, focusing on delivering concise, factual answers backed by real-time web data. It behaves like a smart search companion rather than a traditional chatbot. You can ask it complex questions and receive well-structured answers with links to sources.

Perplexity AI Logo

This app is ideal for research, travel planning, or quick fact-checking. It’s also one of the selected apps that offers free versions with many features normally reserved for premium tools. Whether you’re a student, developer, or business owner, it helps reduce the time spent searching for details online.

5. Bing AI with Video and Image Capabilities

Microsoft’s Bing AI combines search with creative functionality. It can generate images, create videos, and even help with photo editing. Available through the Edge browser or the dedicated Bing app, it’s one of the few ai apps offering both visual and text-based outputs in one place.

The ai engines behind Bing AI enable you to generate new images from text prompts or refine existing ones using your phone’s camera. It’s especially popular among content creators and marketers who want to design visuals quickly without using advanced design software.

6. Replika AI

Replika is an AI companion designed for conversation and emotional support. Unlike typical productivity tools, this app focuses on human-like dialogue. You can chat, video call, or exchange messages, and it adapts to your tone over time.

While not aimed at business users, Replika demonstrates how artificial intelligence can enhance well-being and connection. It’s one of the few AI tools that treats language and emotion as part of its learning model. Free versions include basic chat, while premium plans add additional features such as video calls and personality customisation.

7. Lensa AI

If you’re looking for photo editing powered by artificial intelligence, Lensa AI is among the best ai apps for Android. It uses your phone’s camera to analyse images and automatically apply filters, background effects, or face enhancements.

The app’s most popular feature is its image generation engine, which creates artistic portraits from simple photos. With an intuitive interface, it’s perfect for users who want to enhance visuals without deep editing knowledge. Though free to download, some effects require payment, especially when creating multiple artistic versions of one image.

8. Otter.ai

Otter.ai is a standout AI app for meetings and note-taking. Using advanced ai engines, it transcribes spoken language in real time, turning conversations or lectures into accurate text. It can even tag speakers, highlight key points, and summarise content automatically.

This app is especially useful for students, journalists, and business professionals. Integration with cloud services means transcripts can be accessed from multiple devices. Otter.ai is free to use for basic recording, but users who handle long documents or need team collaboration features can pay for premium plans.

9. Notion AI

Notion AI extends the capabilities of the popular productivity app by adding AI-powered writing and organisation features. It helps you draft notes, create plans, and even generate project outlines. Users benefit from its ability to manage complex questions, summarise pages, and suggest next actions.

Because of its strong Google Workspace integration and ability to handle long documents, Notion AI is one of the top picks for professionals looking to improve workflow. You can use it for free within the standard Notion app or pay for more advanced tools.

10. Canva AI

Canva has become a go-to design tool, and its new AI features make it one of the most useful creative apps for Android. It allows you to generate images, write social captions, and even design entire layouts from text prompts. The app integrates image generation with editing, making it possible to tap, adjust, and share within minutes.

For marketing teams and small business owners, Canva’s AI-powered design system saves time and boosts creativity. Many features are free, though some templates and image libraries require a subscription.

Choosing the Right AI App

With so many AI tools on the Google Play Store, choosing the right one depends on your goals. If you want an AI assistant for writing or answering questions, ChatGPT or Gemini are excellent. For visual creativity, Canva AI and Lensa AI are top AI apps for generating images and photos. Meanwhile, tools like Otter.ai and Notion AI improve organisation and productivity.

When selecting apps, consider the free versions first to explore their capabilities before deciding whether to pay for premium features. Each app uses different AI engines and offers unique benefits, from managing data to producing visuals or handling complex tasks.

The Future of AI on Android

Artificial intelligence continues to evolve, with developers integrating smarter algorithms into everyday apps. Android users can now access AI engines capable of deep research, visual explanations, and creative generation directly from their phones. As AI technology advances, expect even more personalised recommendations, better integration with the Microsoft ecosystem, and new tools that blend video, images, and text seamlessly.

In short, the best AI apps for Android are no longer futuristic—they’re practical tools transforming how we use our devices, handle business, and express creativity. Whether you’re generating images, editing videos, or seeking quick answers, these top picks show just how powerful and accessible ai has become in the mobile world.

Google Play Store AI Review Summaries Reportedly Rolling Out

AI is everywhere these days, with Google looking for more ways to bring it into our lives. The tech giant is reportedly putting it to work by bringing AI-generated app review summaries to the Google Play Store. We’ve seen this AI feature on many Android phones in the form of AI Summaries, where it cuts down large pieces of text into short, crisp notes. Google is now doing this with app reviews.

Google Play Store now serves you AI-generated summaries of app reviews

Android Authority reports that AI-generated review summaries in the Play Store are now appearing more broadly. Once available to your account, you’ll see a new “Users are saying” bold heading in the Rating and review section of the Play Store app listings.

The single paragraph AI summary highlights common positive and negative points across that app’s user reviews. However, it appears that apps must have enough reviews for AI to work with.

google play store ai review–summaries

Not all devices have it yet

The report notes that it’s seeing AI app review summaries in the Play Store version 48.5.21-31. However, it doesn’t seem to be available on all devices at the moment. Under the AI text summary, there’s a range of tabs that let you dive deep into reviews, detailing certain aspects of the app. Based on the app’s nature, some common aspects could include interface, feature availability, and performance.

Apple rolled out similar review summaries for the iOS App Store in April. Amazon, too, has been serving AI-generated product review summaries for quite some time.

New Threads Tools Let You Approve and Filter Replies

31 October 2025 at 17:31
Threads Logo on phone 2

Meta’s Threads app is on a growth path as it hit the 150 million daily active users milestone. Shortly after adding communities and disappearing “ghost posts,” the platform is now introducing new tools that’ll give you, as a user, more control over the conversations. New Threads reply approval and Activity feed filters put more power in your hands.

Threads will now let you approve replies to your posts

The new Reply Approvals feature will let you decide which replies from other users appear on your posts before anyone else can see them. This lets users monitor conversations around their posts and keep discussions on-topic. You will be presented with a list of pending replies, which you can make public using approve buttons. There is also an ignore button for each one. If this feels like a stretch, you can approve or ignore all comments in one tap.

Threads already offers tools that’ll let you limit replies to people you follow, your followers, or people you mention. This new feature lets you “set the tone of the conversations.”

Threads filter replies

These new Threads tools are rolling out

In addition to approvals, Meta is also rolling out new Activity feed filters. This will allow you to more easily view the replies from people you follow, or replies that include mentions. These join options, like Verified, Quotes, and Reposts, as other ways to filter replies. These new Threads filters and reply approval tools are now rolling out to everyone.

As Meta adds new features and the user base continues to grow, the company is moving to ramp up monetization by rolling out ads on Threads globally. It’s also adding new ad formats, including video ads. It’s also testing controls that’ll allow users to tune their algorithm by adding/removing topics of their interests. The company notes that it’s always listening to user feedback.

How To Cancel YouTube TV

31 October 2025 at 17:07
youtube tv dead AH

YouTube TV has been routinely angering its customers, though it’s not all its fault. Between raising prices to almost double what it initially launched at – now $82.99 per month – and losing channels, many customers are not happy. But luckily, you can cancel your YouTube TV subscription. That’s the beauty of cord-cutting. The ability to ditch a service for a competitor in just minutes. Meanwhile, with cable, that is not possible. Most areas only have one or two cable operators available. So that’s another reason that it’s a good idea to switch to a streaming service. Makes it easier to vote with your wallet.

YouTube TV has recently lost the Bally Sports regional sports networks (though that’s more Sinclair’s fault than YouTube TV’s, since they are removing the networks from all the streaming services). Then they almost lost the NBC networks, which is roughly a fifth of YouTube TV’s channel offerings. However, NBC decided to step up and not force YouTube TV to include Peacock with its membership. And surprisingly, the price did not go up, which is a good thing.

If you just want to stop using YouTube TV for a few weeks, maybe cut some costs, we’d recommend pausing YouTube TV instead. That will keep all of your recordings and continue recording, but without charging you. You can pause YouTube TV for up to six months. We’ll also show you how to pause your YouTube TV membership in this tutorial.

How to cancel YouTube TV

To cancel YouTube TV, you’ll need to either open the app, or go to tv.youtube.com. The process is virtually the same, aside from tapping versus clicking.

  • Tap on your Profile icon in the right-hand corner.
  • Next, tap on Settings.
  • Then tap on “Manage”.
  • From here, you’ll have an option to pause or cancel. Hit Cancel.
  • You’ll be asked if you’re sure you want to cancel. Just hit yes, and continue.
  • You’ll still have access until the end of your billing cycle, but you won’t be charged again.
Screenshot 2025 10 31 at 8 54 49 AM
cancel youtube tv
Cancel your YouTube TV membership

Click on that. Now you can see options for pausing or cancelling your membership.

After you click cancel, it’ll ask to make sure you want to cancel, and just go through that process until it has successfully cancelled.

And that’s it. It’s pretty simple to cancel, and that’s one thing that YouTube TV still has over cable. The ability to easily cancel TV service, without needing to call them and explain to them you don’t want it any longer.

How to Pause YouTube TV

Pausing YouTube TV has a pretty similar process to cancelling it. Start out by opening the YouTube TV app.

  • Then tap on your Profile Picture
  • Next, tap on Settings.
  • From there, you’ll want to tap on Membership.
  • Next, tap on “Manage” next to the “Base Plan” option.

Now, you’ll see an option to pause your account. It defaults to eight weeks, but you can adjust the slider all the way up to 24 weeks (or about six months). It will also show you below when your account will resume. YouTube TV also mentions that your recordings will be kept, which is a big deal.

Screenshot 2025 10 31 at 8 58 03 AM

Now, just tap on Pause.

You’ll now get a confirmation that your account is put on pause (you’ll also get an email with details). And you’re all set.

That’s just how easy it is to pause your YouTube TV account. You can also choose to unpause it at any time. So if you paused it by mistake, or paused it for too long, you can unpause it and be back in business. Keep in mind that if you share this membership with others, their accounts will also be paused.

What’s the difference between cancelling and pausing YouTube TV?

Cancelling means that you’re not planning to return anytime soon. While pausing means that you plan to return in a month or two, or even longer.

If you do want to get rid of YouTube TV for a couple of months, pausing is the right way to go. This is because it will keep all of your shows in your library. While cancelling will get rid of it all.

However, with this price hike, YouTube TV is likely going to be seeing a whole lot of people cancelling their membership, unfortunately. Even though YouTube TV is a really good service – I’d still say, one of the best out there. At $65 per month, it’s a pretty tough ask. Especially since YouTube TV only has one plan, so you’re stuck paying for all of those channels at $65/month. Instead of having a smaller plan option that costs, say $50 per month for fewer channels.

Pausing is a good idea if you are looking to cut some costs for a few months, or if your favorite shows are off season now, so you don’t need YouTube TV. And that will save you $65 per month, which is no small cost, to be quite honest. Most other streaming Live TV services don’t really offer this ability. So this is a big deal.

YouTube TV has continued to improve its service, and is looking to add some more flexible packages. So we may not see any more price increases on the base plan. But we may lose some channels from that base plan. With them moving into the add-ons. This is simply because the costs to carry these channels are getting pretty pricey.
