Google Messages finally adds this missing feature

20 March 2026 at 20:09

Google has started giving users a new feature in Google Messages – Real-time location sharing. This feature was announced earlier in March 2026, and now it is gradually becoming available to many users.

With this feature, you can share your live location with someone while chatting. This means the other person can see where you are in real time. It can be useful when you are meeting someone or want to let your family know where you are.

To use it, open a chat in Google Messages and tap the plus (+) icon. Then choose β€œReal-time location.” By default, your location will be shared for one hour. But you can change this easily.

You can choose to share your location for just one hour, for the whole day, or until you turn it off yourself. You can also set a custom time. For example, you can choose any time up to almost 24 hours. There is a simple clock tool that helps you set the time.

This feature uses Google’s system to give accurate location details, so it works well in most cases. There is also a small change in the app design. A tiny dot appears on the plus icon. This dot is likely there to show that there is something new.Β

The new feature is simple and helpful as it makes it easier to share your location with others and keeps Google Messages up to date with other messaging apps. It is rolling out gradually, so all Android users will soon receive it.

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 24MP camera mode gets UX improvements

Samsung’s Camera Assistant is getting an update on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, bringing UX enhancements for the 24MP mode.

Now,Β Samsung is bringing a new Camera Assistant v4.5.0.20 to Galaxy S26 Ultra users. As disclosed byΒ X userΒ Salian, the new version applies to the user experience refinements for the 24MP resolution mode.

The app update might have arrived for the entire lineup, but the content may vary. 24MP mode is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is expected to be provided to more models that come with a 200MP camera.

The changelog says β€œupdate UX,” which translates to a dedicated heading for the 24MP mode, which was buried inside β€œAdditional resolution settings” before. It’s now even easier to access on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

It’s a staged rollout as both of our Galaxy S26 Ultra units haven’t yet received this Camera Assistant build.

Additionally, the app update brings stabilization code. It indicates the release includes fixes for bugs in the existing build. Stability is another aspect that should have seen notable enhancements as part of the March release.

Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a dedicated 24MP camera mode through Camera Assistant. This option is like a combination of keeping the size of pictures like 12MP mode, while adopting the quality of the 50MP mode.
