Google’s Gemini AI now available on Android Auto
Google is rolling out its new AI assistant, Gemini, for Android Auto. This means the old Google Assistant in cars is being replaced with a smarter, more helpful AI. Gemini is already available on Android phones, Wear OS 6, Google TV, Google Home, and Google Maps, and now it’s hitting car dashboards in the US.
Gemini brings lots of useful features for drivers. It can automatically translate messages in over 40 languages. This makes it easier to talk with friends or family while on the road.
You can also ask it to find restaurants, cafes, or places to visit along your route using simple commands like, “Find some good taco places along the way.” It can even read reviews, answer questions about businesses, and pull information from your Gmail, such as where your child’s next soccer game is.

The AI works smoothly with apps such as Google Maps, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Calendar. Also, a new feature, Gemini Live, lets you have natural conversations while driving. It can give suggestions and update them based on your follow-up questions.
Gemini will appear gradually on Android Auto-compatible vehicles, and later this year on cars with Google built-in. These include models like the Lincoln Nautilus, Renault R5, and Honda Passport.
To get Gemini, you don’t need to do much. Android Auto 15.7 Beta already has the code, and Google will enable it from their side soon. It will gradually replace the old Assistant automatically. You can also download the Android Auto 15.7 Beta APK to try it sooner.
