Direct Voicemail lets you decide how long your phone rings before sending a call to voicemail. You can set it anywhere from 1 to 20 seconds or trigger voicemail manually during a call.

Once the voicemail is recorded, it is saved in the contact’s history, which makes it easy to review along with your incoming, outgoing, and missed calls. You can see these voice messages in the Phone app, read a short transcription, and even improve the audio using Samsung’s Audio Eraser.

When You Can’t Use It:

While Direct Voicemail is convenient, there are some situations when it does not work. These are:

• Your phone is switched off or has no network. In this case, Direct Voicemail won’t work.
• You are already on another call. The feature cannot record another voicemail at the same time.
• You are roaming internationally. Direct Voicemail does not work outside your home country.
• Your phone storage is almost full. Messages may fail to record or save properly.
• The call is a video call. Direct Voicemail only works for voice calls.

YouTube Music is making a change for people who like to see song lyrics. Now, full lyrics will only be available to people who pay for a subscription. This change has been tested in recent months and is now coming to many users around the world.

Google may soon let people make 3D avatars of themselves using Gemini. These avatars could be used in video calls when you don’t want to show your real face. The idea is similar to Apple’s Persona on the Vision Pro or Samsung’s Likeness feature on the Galaxy XR headset.

The feature has been spotted in the newest Google app beta on Android version 17.4.66 by Android Authority. It is called “Characters” and can be found in the Gemini launcher menu. Tapping it opens a screen where you can record a short selfie video to create a digital avatar of yourself.

Once your avatar is made, you can look at it, make changes, or delete it. Right now, recording a new video doesn’t work fully, so the feature is still being developed. These avatars look very similar to the ones on Apple and Samsung devices.

Before, Google had a Likeness feature on Gemini for the web. People thought it was for checking if a video was AI-made. But it seems that it is actually for making avatars.

Samsung Display will reportedly begin production at its new Gen 8 OLED factory, A6, in May. This will be the first factory in the world to make OLED screens using Gen 8 technology.

In a recent experiment by Android Authority, it has been decided to disable AICore. The process involved navigating to Settings >> Apps >> AICore, then selecting Force Stop and Disable. Additionally, the they enabled the “Process data only on device” option in Galaxy AI to ensure remaining AI tasks would continue to run locally.

After disabling it, they noticed very little change. Some AI features, like Generative Edit in the Gallery or Summarize in Samsung Internet, now asked to use the internet instead of working locally. Since these features were rarely used, it didn’t make much difference. Other features, like Circle to Search and Live Transcribe, continued to work normally.

Turning off AICore didn’t make a noticeable difference in speed or battery life. The app takes about 1.3GB of storage, but it doesn’t use much RAM, and battery performance stayed about the same. On other phones, some users have seen better battery life after disabling it, so results may vary.
