Itβs another poor month for new light vehicle sales in Argentina, with June volumes down -13.7% year-on-year to 43,199 units. The year-to-date tally is off -10.5% to 277,049. Toyota (-17.8%) leads the brands ranking for the 4th month in a row and finally ascends to the first spot year-to-date, displacing Volkswagen (-31.6%) in complete freefall this month. Fiat (-28.2%) also endures a harsh fall but Ford (+28.4%) defies the negative market and stays at #4 with 10.1% share. Chevrolet (-13%) evolves like th market and rounds out the Top 5 above sinking Peugeot (-37.3%) and Renault (-49.3%). Newcomer BYD equals its ranking record at #8 and is at an all-time high 1,740 sales. Chery (+1316.3%), BAIC (+302.9%) and Haval (+180.6%) stand out in the remainder of the Top 20.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+34.1%) goes against the depleted market and achieves its highest share so far this year at 6.9%. The Fiat Cronos (-34.6%) is back up to #2 ahead of the Ford Ranger (-16%) while the Ford Territory (+167.1%) continues to perform very well at #4. The VW Amarok (-34.7%), in poor form, rounds out the Top 5 which is better than the 7th spot it holds year-to-date. The VW Tera (#6) is the best-selling recent launch in the country above the Toyota Yaris Cross (#9), BYD Atto 2 (#24), BYD Dolphin Mini (#26) and BYD Song Pro (#27).
The Geely EX2 breaks into the Brazilian Top 20 for the first time in June.
The Brazilian new light vehicle market continues to surge ahead in June at +29.4% year-on-year to 260,604 units. This way, the year-to-date result halfway through the year is up 20.3% to 1,360,634. This is now well above pre-pandemic levels (1,248,299 sales over H1 2019). In fact, this is the highest June volume in 13 years, since the 302,896 registrations of June 2013. The June all-time record is 340.706 in 2012. As for the YTD tally, it is at its best in 12 years, since the 1,582,634 units of H1 2014. TheΒ H1 record dates back to 2011 at 1,638,078.
The Top 3 brands, although all delivering double-digit gains, fall short of the marketβs growth rate. Fiat is up 17.3% to 18.8% share vs. 9.6% at home in Italy. The Italian carmaker holds 19.9% of the market YTD. Volkswagen (+23.9%) and Chevrolet (+21.6%) complete the podium while BYD (+160.4%) soars to repeat at a record 4th place and equals its share record at 8.2%. BYD now also holds the #4 spot YTD above Hyundai (+1.5%). Toyota (-2.7%) underperforms at #5. Caoa Chery (+50.8%) is back inside the Top 10 whereas GWM (+122.7%) slips out of it despite a fantastic YoY evolution. Newcomer Geely breaks all its records at #13 with 5.833 sales and 2.2% share, and the same goes for Jaecoo up 618.6% to #16 with 2,738 units and 1.1% share.
Model-wise, the Fiat Strada (+24.7%) easily holds onto the top spot with 5.5% share vs. 6.1% so far this year. The VW T-Cross (+36.2%) overtakes its stablemate the VW Polo (-4.8%) but the latter keeps the #2 rank YTD. The Fiat Argo (+35.9%) is back up one spot to #4 while the VW Tera (+263.6%) celebrates one year in market by lodging its best result since January at #5. The BYD Dolphin Mini (+237.5%) manages a 4th straight Top 10 finish at #8 while for the BYD Dolphin (+269.9%) itβs a maiden Top 10 at #10. The Geely EX2 is the best-selling recent launch and breaks into the Brazilian Top 20 for the first time at #17, accounting for 75% of Geely sales this month.
37% of BMW X3 sales in June come from the iX3 BEV variant.
296,378 new cars hit German roads in June, a very solid 15.7% year-on-year improvement. Keep in mind June 2025 was off -13.8% on the year prior. The H1 2026 volume is up 5.8% to 1,484,393. This is to be compared with pre-pandemicΒ June 2019 levels of 325,231 sales for the month and 1,849,000 YTD. BEV sales surge 78.2% to 84,057 and 28.4% share vs. 18.4% in June 2025 and 14.6% two years ago. So far this year, BEVs are up 48% to 368,006 and 24.8% share vs. 17.7% over the same period in 2025 and 12.5% in 2024. PHEVs advance 25.8% to 32,212 and 10.9% share vs. 10% last year and are up 17.9% YTD to 163,793 and 11% share vs. 9.9%.
The Tesla Model Y ranks #3 in Germany in June.
Brand leader Volkswagen (+5.9%) trails its home market and sees its share thaw to 17.2% vs. 18.8% a year ago and 18.4% year-to-date (-4.3%). BMW (+18.6%) reclaims the 2nd spot for the first time this year, with Skoda (+23.5%) also up on rank on last month to #3. Mercedes (+5.9%) falls to #4 and is passed by BMW in the year-to-date ranking. Audi (+17.1%) also shines but is a distant 5th. Seat (+23.8%) and Dacia (+22.1%) are in great shape, with the latter hitting its highest volume since scrappage scheme-crazy 2009. Outside the Top 10, Tesla (+317.6%) and BYD (+273.7%) post surreal gains with Cupra (+39.8%) and Renault (+30.8%) also robust.Β

Over in the models charts, the VW Golf (+10.4%) manages to increase the gap with the #2, the VW T-Roc (+1.8%) at 2.7% share vs. 2.3%. The Tesla Model Y (+361.9%) surges 23 spots on May to land in third place overall, its best performance since last March. The VW Tiguan (+18.1%) is relegated to 4th place despite a solid gain. The BMW X1 (+18.5%) is also strong at #5, with 49% of its June volume coming from the iX1 BEV variant. The Mini lineup (+59.7%) repeats at #6 ahead of the Mercedes GLC (+67.8%) and Skoda Octavia (+22.4%). The BMW X3 soars 111.7% to #10, the iX3 BEV version representing 37% of its total sales. The best-selling recent launch is the Renault Twingo (#118) ahead of the Kia EV2 (#120) and Mitsubishi Grandis (#128).
The Toyota Land Cruiser (incl. the 70 Series) ranks #6 in the regular car ranking.
The Japanese new vehicle market is up by a solid 8.6% year-on-year in June to 426,993 units. Toyota (+18.6%) continues to outpaces its home market to a splendid 33.2% share. Suzuki (+2.3%) follows but sells less than half at 14.9% share. Mazda (+18.3%) and Honda (+17.5%) also shine below, while Nissan (+6.5%) and Mitsubishi (+4.2%) are shy and Subaru (-11.6%), Daihatsu (-9.5%), Lexus (-5%) and Isuzu (-1.7%) struggle. Further down, Hino (+24.8%), Porsche (+20.5%) and Mitsubishi Fuso (+17.2%) stand out. BYD (+4.7%) is up one spot to #23 but only grabs 0.1% of the market.
In the regular cars ranking, the Toyota Yaris/Cross (+5.6%) remains at #1 but the real leader when separating Yaris and Yaris Cross is the Toyota Raize (+8.8%). The Toyota Sienta surges 39.9% to #3, overtaking the Toyota Corolla/Cross (+3.4%). The Toyota Roomy (+8.7%) repeats at #5 while the Toyota Land Cruiser (+118.1%) more than doubles its sales YoY and gains 12 spots on May to break its ranking record at #6, its previous best (#7) hit last April. The Alphard (+23.5%) makes sure the Top 7 is entirely composed of Toyotas. The Honda Freed (+3.7%) is the best of the rest once again but retreats two ranks to #8. Notice also the Toyota RAV4 (+180%), Mazda CX-5 (+127.6%), Nissan Kicks (+192.1%) and Leaf (+297.9%). The Toyota bZ4X is down one spot to #25 while the new Honda Super-ONE is down 12 to #43 for its second month in market.Β
Looking at kei cars, the Honda N-BOX (+20.9%) and Suzuki Spacia (+18.9%) cement their leadership and become the two best-selling vehicles in the country when adding regular cars. The Daihatsu Tanto (-6.6%) and Move (-24.4%) pay the price of artificially high year-ago volumes when supply caught up after production stoppages in 2024. The Nissan Roox (+42.4%) delivers the biggest gain in Β the Top 10, with the Honda N-ONE (+118.5%), Nissan Sakura (+68.2%) and Suzuki Every Wagon (+59.1%) doing even better below.
As for foreign models, the Mini lineup (-11.3%) easily stays on top while the VW Golf (-10.8%) is up one spot on Q1 to #2, overtaking the VW T-Cross (+5.8%). The Mercedes G-Class (+14.2%) manages the extraordinary feat of being the brandβs best-seller in Japan and ranks #4 overall. Another big surprise: the 5th place of the Porsche 911 which is a new record. Notice also the Mercedes GLB up 5.4%, the VW Polo up to #14 and the Audi Q3 (+15.9%) at #15.
